Here's our

Eighty-Third  Challenge for you all

suggested by junee who won the last Challenge.

"COLLECTIONS"

Details:

  • From junee:  "could be anything such as thimbles,spoons,netsuke,china......"

  • Use the attachment feature to show your photos in your post or link to them from your gallery or an offsite location that allows linking using the image codes.  If you have trouble, please contact a moderator (name in blue) or an administrator (name in red) and we'll help you post your photo.  If you have your photo in your gallery, please don't use the attachment feature as that puts the photo on our server twice but rather link to it.

  • Please upload up to 4 entries per member for this challenge.

  • If you possibly can, please tell us the camera you used to take your photo and when you took it.  But if you don't know, please post the picture anyway.  We want to see your photos.  :)  Please only enter photos taken by you.

  • The challenge is open now and will be locked to uploads on Sunday, March 19th, 2017 and then we'll vote on them.

  • Please put a title in your post for your photos.  We need the title for the poll.

  • Please post only one entry per post/message.

  • Of course, we're going to see who is posting the photos so this is not an anonymous challenge.  So start posting.  Click on the "Reply" button below and start this challenge!
Remember, this is a fun project!

Thanks to junee for suggesting this topic.  She was the winner of our last Challenge entitled "HEIRLOOM/KEEPSAKE APPAREL AND JEWELRY".  Thanks junee!

Thank you, Junee and thanks Jeanne Lee. This will be an interesting challenge!

June Drabek

I eagerly await postings...so far I can't find my way in.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

jackwv

Should be interesting.  Just checking in.

Queen Nefertiti

Chia

This is the head of Queen Nefertiti who ruled Egypt alongside her husband The Pharaoh during the 14th century BC..My Mother had it for many years getting it from a now defunct store, Brentano's in N.Y.and passed it on to me..It has a few nicks here and there, but in my eyes has not diminished its beauty over the years.
I took the picture with my Iphone model SE..
Nefertiti means "a beautiful woman has come" and aptly named...

PatH2

Aptly named indeed, Chia.  Thanks for sharing.  Her beauty is timeless.

I've been collecting handbags for years.....I finally decided I must thin them out soon. (They are in a bit of a mess) trish

SnowWitch:  Yay . . . Vera Bradley!  I can't resist those beautiful patterns.  Yesterday I ordered a Scottie Dog messenger bag!

All that is left

Have been downsizing for 19 years.  Just a few remaining piece, including a 12 piece china set, not used for years.  Every visit I give my daughter something to take home.

June Drabek

Jack, I have given away almost everything of value, and it gave me a feeling of freedom. I have a few pieces of Hummel that were gifts but they are there for the taking if someone in the family shows an interest. I'm glad you have a daughter that would appreciate your things.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

PatH2

Are we locked to uploads already? if not, I have something I could work up tomorrow.

junee

Was pleased to see some entries as was afraid I had made a bad choice.
PatH2 do not think it has closed.  Hope not.

Vanilla-Jackie

Just wish I could participate but...the only collection I have now is of, collecting dust... :D

...Jack.....just spotted your Teddy Bear sitting proudly in the centre... :)

...SnowWitch.....quite a collection of colourful handbags, if it was mine, I wouldn't know which ones to keep nor the ones to get rid of...

...Chia.....do you also have " The Pharaoh? " as for Nefertiti, she is beautiful...

And a couple of seals.  They're about as big as your hand, and very smooth and pleasant to hold.

angelface555

PatH2, you have lovely Northern soapstone pieces. The talc amount in soapstone gives it that soapy feel. The more talc such as in Chinese soapstone which is very soft to the harder, less proportional amount of talc in northern soapstone. I worked in an import/export store for twelve years and we sold a wide variety of soapstone pieces and carvings.

PatH2

So that's why, angelface.  I didn't know what made soapstone feel like that.

There used to be a bookstore/art gallery in D. C. that would have an exhibit of Cape Dorset carvings every year shortly after my birthday, and I would spend my birthday money on them.  They were affordable way back then, probably not so anymore.

Unfortunately, I no longer am familiar with many items as the owner died of abdominal cancer in 1993 and his wife sold the stock and closed the business. It was called, Alaska House and Xanadu, a truly magical place in time. Cape Dorset and Alaskan examples

Those are nice.  They're more elaborate than mine, but I see I was correct about price increases in the last 50 years.

Bubble, I can help you with your addiction...I can relieve you of one or two bars... :eat:
" There is no present like the time "

angelface555

Bubble, very impressive and cosmopolitan. Collections like yours and PatH's give us a window into a person's personality.

Shirley

Love the collections!  I have missed a lot lately between a couple rounds of flu and trying to "catch up" with life after each.  Thanks for the ride over on the link, Bubble~  Good job, everybody!

PatH2

Bubble, after Vanilla-Jackie has relieved you of your excess chocolate, I will be happy to relieve you of your excess books, since we seem to have the same taste in science fiction.  No chance of excess masks, or I would ask for  the man with the spectacles and cigar.
