Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Another alto chiming in.... beautiful job, Jack, acapella always seemed so difficult.... I sang harmony (don't think they even hear about it with the younger generation) but not a strong voice (loud!) & needed to stand by someone that stayed on key or I'd go right down the tube with them.

Jean, loved your video & happy life.  You do "look for the good" and find it, where ever you live.  I am hoping to catch an Octoberfest in MO this year, such good food & music~  Thanks!

I thoroughly enjoyed my run to Colorado over the week end.... long drive but only destination that was cool enough to sit in the RV & not melt if I had problems.  Did have a water in the RV problem so found a way to shut it off at the valve coming in from the tank.  Turned out it wasn't a problem 'cause the "valve" I turned off was just needing tightening & I just didn't try it again for fear of putting too much pressure on the pump.  I always carry gallons of drinking water so just didn't use water out of the faucets.

I haven't gone back to see if I missed anything but must get on with the show around here.  Have much cleaning to do in the RV..... Tommy was sick on the way out, I cleaned & all but need to pull out all of the non-skid mats on the floor to hose off & bring in to wash in the bathtub.... to make sure it smells okay for the next trip.  He didn't get sick on the return trip & think it may have helped that I stopped every hundred miles or so to give the cats a break.  They don't eat or get a drink of water.... or use the litterbox when we are rolling.  If Tommy doesn't feel good he always yells and comes up front to be by me.... to make a mess all over the steps & front entrance part.  Yuck!

JeanneP

Jack.  I enjoyed that. Nice voice.  Think you should sing along on your video's more often.  That song was so popular years ago. Not heard it in a long time.  I do know all the words.
Getting so cold here.  Below 60 today. Got my flu shot today.  Did you read in the other forum what I said about taking the Pneumonia shot along with it?
JeanneP

jackwv

JeanneP thanks I may give it another try now that voice is coming back.

SCFSue

Jack, thanks for the beautiful garden pictures and you singing my Grandmother's favorite hymn as well as my friend Minnie who died recently.  She had asked me to have it sung at her funeral.  I told our pastors and it was done as a solo with a male baritone who sang it beautifully.  That certainly is a beautiful old hymn--and not sung much anymore.

I hope you've recovered now from your cold/flu and are able to sing to Jessie.  I think she probably enjoys your singing, too.

I also sang both alto and soprano in many different church choirs.  I usually joined a choir when we moved to new duty stations as well as teaching children's Sunday School.  I miss my church down at the farm and haven't joined the choir here as it's much larger and much better singers.

Sue

jackwv

Sue, thanks.   Jessie turned 15 this past June.  She still likes her daily walks.  She lost her hearing several months ago, but responds to a loud clap.  I still walk her off leash at the park, she does not wander far, but want her to set the pace.  I talk to her all the time and fortunately she responds to hand signals.

FlaJean, my DIL still lives in Niceville, and my son is buried just outside the AFB. He was  Major in the AF.

Jack. Once you get over the cold and voice back. Can we put in Requests? I know you will be able to find a Video to go with them.  You have made some great one.

We will have Don and then you to look forward to weekly.  Treat for us women.
JeanneP

jackwv

JeanneP   I have to get out and about and get some new photos.  I also want to try doing another with the voice recorder.  Jean and Larry do some fine video and more in their area to share.

JeanneP

Jack.  So maybe we can get Jean and husband to do a little duet along with their videos.. You both live in great areas for Video taking.  Jean does of more sunshine over the winters.  We get the snow scenes.  I still have your "Try to remember"video on my Desktop. Love that one.

This weekend was Oglebayfest.  My daughter came up from Virginia to join me.   We went to church service Saturday, so early Sunday we were up and  beat the crowd. Lovely day and good company.  When I left my parking space I thought there was going to be a fight to get it. :)  Just did a little video and enjoyed the day.

Mary Ann

Jack, you had interesting viewing; something for everyone.  I think I caught a glimpse of you looking at something, but the view wasn't long enough to be sure.

Mary Ann

jackwv

Mary Ann thanks.  You did not see me, I try to always be behind the camera  :)

Shirley

Fun day, Jack, thoroughly enjoyed inside the glass shop & your view for lunch, but arts & craft shows are such fun.  I stop & visit with many of the vendors since I used to "do" a couple shows a year and enjoyed people taking time to talk.  My brothers had some of those cars back before they were collectible.... never looked that good but they would run~  Great show, thanks.  Twice as much fun when you have someone along you enjoy being with, right?

FlaJean

Jack, loved your video.  A really nice festival.  I could spend several hours looking at all that beautiful glass.  A great view while enjoying lunch.

jackwv

Shirley and Jean thanks, it was a pleasant afternoon.  I just look, seldom buy.

Lindancer

Jack, I still cannot open any videos, the message is my brower is outdated.  My computer man is coming to day.

Looks like it was a nice day for the festival. People had jackets on so maybe a fall day. Not to crowded. Now like ours are at the covered Bridge Festival and others. Just to many people.  I never buy anything either. I wonder sometimes if the people who sit all weekend with their Crafts make any money. It takes some so long to set up and them take down. But the people I know who do it say just to enjoy the people. That is a nice place to have it.  I owned my Second VW that looked like the red one. I suppose the are getting antique now. My first was in 1956 I believe. Had 4 of them. May think of making one my last car.  Not made as good as the older one though.

SATO....
...So happy to see your posting, and know you are back with us, Good morning...

Shirley

So good to see a post from you, Sato!  I will take photos of the trees starting to turn, just a few so far.  Most of the birds have already gone south and it looks like we are going to have a hard-cold winter by the signs of the birds moving on instead of staying here for the winter.  Best wishes to you for a complete recovery.

This afternoon I was standing outside the sliding door of the family room, my son had come over to trim the yard, it really didn't need mowing but was sort of scraggly looking.  The neighbor's locust tree is dropping it's leaves, right into my pool, so a constant challenge to keep them from staining the bottom.  Covers do not stay in place in our wind, we've tried everything the past 30 years.

Anyway, I noticed a praying mantis by the door, it knew how it opened & was pawing at the glass.  First time I've ever noticed one that had changed colors to light brown tones.  I did take some photos but have to be on the other computer to use PSP to crop & resize.  I don't do well with the online sites, have tried and do not get it.  I didn't know that the praying mantis was like chameleons, changing colors to match their surroundings. The plants in the berm are changing to browns, the asters are blooming so I was hoping to have monarch butterflies show up, think they have already gone south some time ago.

JeanneP, when I took my art to a couple shows a year, I did really well, generally sold most of what I took.  I did paint "craft" things that I could sell for $10 or so, things like raccoons peeking out of a hole in a tree.... painted on the slabs of wood from the saw mills that sliced off the bark to make the flat sides to saw planks.  We would stop by on our way to camping in MO & pick up those slabs that most used for fires.  I would dig a little hole in the center, down to the wood & then paint the raccoons in the hole.  I would put a saw tooth hanger on the back & never failed to sell as many as I took.  I bought a lot of camera equipment with that money.  I also painted the old time milk cans next to a mailbox & sunflowers blooming on the thick shake shingles.... and would paint names on the mailboxes.

One lady that worked in a retirement center bought some for her patients & then everyone wanted one for their doors.... I didn't keep track of how many she had me put names on for her, don't know what she was charging them but I sold to her for $10.  People would stop at the shows to check out the wood things & look up and buy a large painting very often.  I wouldn't want to live on what I made but was very nice "mad" money for buying more art supplies and cameras.  Lots of shows I would be painting to encourage people that wanted to try it could see how easy it was.  That was before u-Tube & online demonstrations. <grin>

If I ever could figure how to post a video I would love to.  Jack has tried to explain but I am a really dumb student.  I wanted to do a video of that praying mantis pawing at the door to get in.... it really did know it was supposed to open at that spot & had the same motions I've see a cat or dog use, pawing at a door.  So I will keep trying & enjoy all of yours for now.

Sato

Thank you, Vanillla-Jackie and Shirley.

Sato so good to hear from you and hope you are soon back with us.

JACK WV....
I enjoyed your video clip...I would have felt right at home dining on the patio, admiring at the view whilst I ate and sipped my cup of coffee....
These classic car owners really take pride in looking after their cars....

Mary Ann

Sato, I'm sorry to hear you are still in the hospital and I hope it won't be too long before you can go home.

I am not an artist, so I have nothing to show for fall.  Where I live, there is not much color of leaves, so I am like you, waiting to see some color from others.

Get well soon!!!

Mary Ann

JeanneP

Shirley.  Now those painting on the pieces of wood are very popular in the Fall Festivals here.  Cost more then $10 though. I keep meaning to buy one to put on my
wood outdoor shed door.

MaryAnn. Over the winter you should try doing the Senior Colour Books.  They are fun to do.  Lots of places here now getting groups together. I go the the one at the Libary.  Have about 16 people join. They say it is helping a lot of people who were getting depression in the Winter months.  I just was never good at colouring with the kids when small. Better than me when about 5 years old.  Now I show them how good I am. LIttle GGD was doing it with me last time she was here.  Told me. Grandma you are coming out of the line.  They now have a eraser you can buy that will clean the Gel ink off.   Even the big Junior Collage having classes. Can't see that though.  May as well take art classes if what to go that far.
