Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

2024-05-01, 23:57:58
Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

My husband is deciphering the ancient documents about Fukuyama castle in Fukuyama castle. There is a lady who became 88 years old in the member. She made a fruitcake and Jelly and delivered them as her greeting to me yesterday.
These were beautiful and very good!

Joy

Sachiko,  what a beautiful dessert cake.  Are they peaches on the top?

What a nice and thoughtful gift.  I know you will really enjoy it.  Looks too pretty to eat.

What a treat to go with your coffee this morning.

SACHIKO..... that looks like a lemon cheesecake, hm, my favourite..... :happydance: .... How sweet of your neighbour to think of you and bring over a pleasant surprise, just not something we in UK seem to do....Oh well, somebody mentioned peaches,...... peaches, lemon, doesn't matter, as long as it is in cheescake......

I do love your table setting....

FlaJean

Sachiko, what a nice gesture from the lady.  It is a lovely and delicious looking cake.

Mary Ann

My first thought about the cheesecake was orange, but now I'm confused - what are those fruits, Sachiko?

Absolutely gorgeous looking cake, Sachiko, and of course your china pieces! You do have a wonderful sense of style!

jackwv

Sachiko and Jean thanks I just take photos, do not know the different varieties.

Sachiko that is a good, and talented neighbor.  It is a piece of art, shame you had to cut it, but bet it was wonderful.

halkel

a work of art.  What patience it must have taken to make it.  Like Jack said, it was almost sinful to cut it.

Sachiko3

Good moaning!

Joy, Mary Ann, Vanilla-Jackie, Jean, angelface, Jack, halkel, thank you very very much for your comments.
The fruit used in this cake is mango. And it is canned food of the mango, and the syrup is also used.

This cake was really delicious! And I who did not cook a cake for years anymore wanted to make a cake.

Lindancer

Sachiko, that cake looks so delicious, I feel like I could reach out and tast it.

Pat, good to see you posting, and how nice you will get to see Don and Bubble.  such a lovely picture, also that for posting it.

JeanneLee, good to see your post, hope you are feeling better.

This is just a very short post.

Had my wonderful visit yesterday with Don and Bubble, cried when I said "Cheerio" to Bubble but guess I overdid things and today is a bad day "health-wise" but I got a few photos and promise to put them in here asap.

Now, back to lie down.

Pat. I bet that Bubbles was just like we all think she is.  Bubbly and a great person. Lucky you got to meet her. We all would have loved to.

Sorry the trip took a little out of you. Get all rested up and well soon. We miss you in here.

Pat....
.....I am glad your recent health problem allowed you that breathing space to take your trip to meet up with Don and Bubble....I can understand the emotions that flowed when time to separate and go on your way.....Pat, in your own time, no hurry, rest yourself, then I will look forwards to seeing your photos....

Visit to London, Ontario to see Don and Ethy (Radioman and Bubble)  Part 1

I'm so happy that I was able to make the journey with my niece, Heather, to meet Bubble for the first time.  We've been online friends for so many years and I just never thought I'd be honoured enough to actually meet her face to face.

I'm so glad that I did!!!!

As we got nearer and nearer to London, Ontario, my excitement grew!  Here we are only  24 km away and it won't be long now!

I started to wonder...

I wondered secretly if we'd see the two of them jumping into a river scarcely dressed and wondered what I'd say to them!!!! :)

When we arrived at Don's lovely apartment, I took a photo of him right away.  Please note!  He's all dressed!  Phewwww....

See that smile?  He has it permanently on his face now!

Don's daughter-in-law took a couple of lovely photos and I tried taking photos of the photo.  Not very good quality but you'll get the idea.

This is Ethy's daughter, son-in-law, and grandson along with Ethy and Don

We decided to go to the Swiss Chalet for our evening meal and on the way into the restaurant, it was so sunny!  But I thought we could get some photos anyway.

"I'm not too short, Don!  I'm nearly as tall as you!!"

Heather was standing in the shade too much but I'm so happy that she made the trip to London to pick something up and I was able to tag along to see Bubble and Don

Pat, thank you so much for those pictures of Don and Ethy (or ET and Bubble, names I know her by).  Everyone looks so genuinely happy and I could not help but smile looking at the pictures.

Thanks Mary Ann...    There will be a few more--not many--but they will wait till tomorrow or the next day.  With this crazy condition I now have, I will have to learn to "take it easy" and even though I'm having a good day, I must not overdo it.  I did overdo it and have been having to rest since coming home on Thursday evening.

Also, I took my fantastic Nikon D7100 and when we arrived in London, here I had left my battery charging back in Guelph!  :(  So my photos were taken with my little "Point and Shoot".

I can't imagine that photos from your Nikon could have been better than the point and shoot!

Of course, it might just be the subjects that make every shot glow!   :smitten:

Thank You Pat.  Wonderful pictures of two beautiful people.

Okay, my face is sore from grinning at the monitor ..... you win the prize for happiest photos of the year, Pat!  What a joy to scroll down and see the joy on all the faces.  I'm sure for "our person of many names".... she was doubly happy to bring that gr-son along to share this special occasion with him (nice of the kids to come, too).

Pat, I'm so sorry you are dragged down with health issues now.  When I first joined Senior Net you were sharing the treatments Jack was going through with everyone.  I was impressed with the photos and the story behind, and in awe of your straight forward dealing with one of the nightmare parts of life.  My admiration for you goes on and at the same time, just want to tell you, you are also one of the best photographers I've ever known.  You compose with the camera & no matter which camera you use, the photos look like they've been produced by a professional with top of the line equipment!  (Sincere compliment)  I will continue prayers for your improved health.

Don & Bubble, I guess all of us are as delighted with your love story as if we were right there with you.  I will pray for years of traveling and making each other happy, and sharing this special time of YOUR lives with those of us enjoying your adventure.  Really like the photo of the jump into the pond~

Sachiko, you are a master of taking pics of food!  Nice gift from your friend and beautiful photos showing the delicious cake.  I've never thought of or tasted cake made with mango.  You bring something new to us all the time.  My thanks!

The mystery of my RV tires was concluded today but I will wait until tomorrow to explain.  I was so relieved when I got home from the Ford dealer today about noon, that I fell asleep until I had to rush & feed cats to let them go out for the evening.  They are being neglected today but will make up to them tomorrow, I promised them.... they did not go hungry.

June Drabek

Pat, Thank you ! The pictures are just wonderful. I felt like I was with you all. You are such a vital personality Pat, I am so sorry this illness is lingering on, and I pray God will heal you completely.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

Bubble, Don and Pat, thank you so much for the photos and allowing us to be along for a portion of the trip!
