Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

JeanneP: I am trying to get into the Archives of the Recipes that where moved over from Senior net few years ago, Can't find them

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

This was taken with the Panasonic Lumix FZ 70, full zoom (64x), cropped and "smugged" to cover other graduates in the photo.  Evan: Bio-Med Engineering Cum laude

Shirley, very nice post and info about your graduating grands. You have a right to be proud!

jackwv

Shirley, a great subject and you did good.   With that family of yours you must have a ton of graduation photos :)

FlaJean

You did a good job on that photo, Shirley.  What a handsome grandson.

Shirley

Thanks, Patricia, Jack & Jean.... I was surprised it is as sharp as is since I couldn't even tell which one he was we were so high in the stands!  Son, Andy, used my camera & took the photos (no shake even with full zoom).  I hadn't seen him with the beard, (probably because he's been so busy working on Senior project & all the finals plus his jobs, no time to shave) until the banquet last week!  He is a good kid.

I do have a ton of graduation photos & got myself another thumb drive when I ordered one from Amazon to put all of Evan's photos on to give him.  Got 32 GB SanDisk Cruzer for $10.. with Prime, 2 day/ shipping free.  No more making CDs or DVDs to give them!

angelface555

:) And pocket sized too!

Joy

Shirley, what a great picture of your good-looking grandson.  And, to think, he is super smart, too.  LOL   I bet he doesn't lack any girlfriends, unless he has been too busy with school, work, etc.

Shirley, congrats on that  good picture and handsome young  man. You must be proud of him.
I am partial to beards... lol  You too?

JeanneP

Jean. I love seeing clouds like that.  I try to find things in them  On these all I can make out is
a Whale on the right side about a inch from bottom. Usually can find something.

Yes, still dark dreary weather here and it shows that I am really getting bored.
JeanneP

JeanneP

Shirley.  Great photo. All mine are partial to beards also. Look good.

Not their hats are a lot different than ours.  U of Ill was graduation time last weekend.. Mine are all through now. Have to wait for GG coming along.  Will be lots within a few years of each.
JeanneP

Shirley

Yep, Patricia, pocket size & amazing for the price, I thought!

Thanks, Joy, he is smart & kind... and today got a dose of reality when he talked to the "powers that be"  when reporting for his "big-boy" job, hoping for more money & hours now that he has his degree.  Sadly, only a token raise & cut back his hours... and they are having a job-fair this week end to get more low paying help.  He will be job shopping for sure.  He introduced us to a new girlfriend and sure hope he takes time to adjust to the new life outside of school.  Too often when they graduate they panic and want to hang onto someone & marry too quick.

Yes, Bubble, I think he looks good in a beard, thanks.  My mother didn't like any hair on a man's face, she would ask the person "why are you covering that beautiful face?"....  Not sure why she felt that way, I think many men look better, I recall one man that worked with my husband, always had a beard & when he shaved it he looked like a wimp, no chin at all.

Jeanne, the hats were "same old"... but when I was smugging out the people around him it was hard to tell what was shadow or shape of hat.  I didn't notice how different until I picked up the prints & too late then to go back and make the lines sharper.  I still have one grand to go & long time until the greats start college, 12 years, in fact, oldest in first grade.

And it is past lunch time & Taco Bell sounds good... they make a spicy tostada plus about 4 crunchy tacos should fill me up, I'm starved!  Y'all behave.

JeanneP

Shirley.  That is a lot of Taco. Can you eat that many.  it must be years since I at a Taco Bell. Have one on the next block. Last one was in the Airport 4 years ago.  Never think to make them at home.

I think my next GGson is 15  so doubt I go to anymore Graduations.  Have the twins telling me they graduate next week.  Then into Kindergarten.  They even have parties for that anymore.  Seems they spend about 20 years now going to schools.  have a GS now got his Doctor Degree last year. Must have 30 years schooling. Did work though during the time.
Will you be making any big Motor Home trips this summer?.  Just don't seem to see as many on the roads now.  I just wanted to find the smallest one on the market. Never did.

Ginger, the url you posted leads to a large collection of various photos at sp.yimg.com.  You need to click on a particular photo, choose "open link in new window"   and copy the url in that address line.  Then click on the little globe above and paste the address.

JeanneP, I do plan on at least one trip to Colorado & more to MO, not so bad as long as I can have the dollar off on 35 gallons of gas that fill for the "go" & always come back with an empty tank to use the other dollar off.  Going to CO I can even get the dollar off at a station half way & there is one in the town near where we camp that also honors the dollar off... making gas so far being less than a dollar a gallon.  I do miss my little Rialta but would miss these cats more.  By the way, those tacos (3) & tostadas (2) were delicious.    ::)  (& I used a Taco Bell gift card... habit of buying the cards for nearly everything instead of cash)

Jeanne Lee, I didn't know what that meant to "open link in new window".  I will copy your "recipe" & save on my everyday Word Pad.  Thanks!

Jeanne Lee

Shirley, the instructions were for Ginger to use in order to post a photo here.  The "link in new window" is one of the choices she has with the site she seems to be using.   I can't do it for her because I have no idea which of the tons of photos on that site she wants to use.

I do not grow flowers, Jessie would eat.   Here is a view of my fence and flowers next door, taken this evening.

Now the Ugly.   The 17 year cicada are on the march in our area.  They travel up electric poles, trees etc.  Soon will be hearing their screech.  The birds are having their fill but unable to keep up.

MaryTX

Jack, yes, Jessie would eat ;D  I had a beautiful one like the above in a pot on the patio. I had been babying it along for a couple of years.  Missy, my Golden, took a liking to it and did laps around the yard with it in her mouth ;D,

Shirley

Sorry, Mary, I'm sitting here laughing so hard at the "picture it" of your pup dancing around the yard with your prize plant in her mouth (thinking of Zoe, Jack, and the cone).  I had no idea they would munch one off.

Jack, that is a gorgeous flower...Rhododendron, I think?  My mother never had one but did see one on the walk home from school.... I was fascinated by it & actually walked up to have a close look one time (back in those days we did not walk across anyone's yard unless we knew them well).  Sure didn't know it was time for those ugly critters... have not heard them here so far, but will be watching for them.  Don't think I have ever seen so many on one tree.  Great shot!

angelface555

Jack, be sure to thank your neighbor for allowing you to share in her beautiful flowers! Such a lovely color!

I had a photo some years back of my cat Beau sitting amidst one of my ferns, all stretched out and not understanding my fuss at all!  :tickedoff:  ::)

jackwv

Mary, Shirley and Patricia thanks.   I pulled an old photo of Zoe and Jessie, I lost Zoe 3 years ago.   You can see I have nothing but grass in my back yard.  I once had Hosta along the wall but they used it as a salad bar.   I then put river rock along the fence.   I like flowers but would not trade for the golden smile.   This is Zoe on the left and Jessie on the right.  Jessie will soon be 15 but still wants her walks. (and always has that smile)

so_P_bubble

Jack, those flowers are gorgeous.  I am glad you can still enjoy them from across the fence. :)
Your smiling friends are always a delight to admire. Does Jessie feels her age I wonder... we certainly do!

jackwv

Bubble,  Like Jessie I am slow to get up and move about.  Funny when taking a walk I will look for a bench, but she stands and waits.  We both nap so guess we have learned to adjust.  She seldom runs and never did retrieve but was really a performer in the sport of Agility.

MaryTX

Jack, I loved the pic of both Zoey and Jessie. My Missy and my niece's Mz. Harper have that same smile and twinkle in their eyes that Jessie has.

Several years ago, you posted a video of Zoey and Jessie in an agility competition.  Watching it got us interested in agility and have gone to a couple of competitions.  I thought I had bookmarked it, but can't find it now.  Do you still have it?

Did you happen to see the video on facebook recently about a bull mastiff in a agility competition.  He did the entire course with only one little mistake at the end, but did it in his own sweet time!

MaryTX   I still had several runs of Jessie on Vimeo and posted the link in the slideshow discussion.   Even if not involved in Agility folks should check to see if any events in their area.  They generally are free, and the most fun is watching the smaller dogs and the novice that are still learning.

FlaJean

Beautiful flowers and beautiful Goldens, Jack.  Your yard is very pretty and you can enjoy the flowers across the fence.

jackwv

Jean thanks.   Beautiful day and off to the park.   Wanted to post an old photo of Zoe.   We tried for several years to run her in Agility but she was a wild one and enjoyed entertaining.   This photo is one of several ribbons (two first place) that she earned one day.  This was not Agility but events where points were awarded for each obstacle, with most going to the toughest ones.   The handler would choose those she felt would earn the most points.   With Zoe she just turned her loose and let her run where she wanted.  It was a wild, funny day.   She was as wild as she was beautiful to watch.

jackwv

Equal time for Jessie :)  Chalk this up to another great day.   68 degrees, sunshine and light breeze.   Had a great walk and here is one photo.

JeanneP

Jessie always look so much bigger than Zoe to me.  Maybe it was just the way her hair grew. I know you got them trimmed the same.  Jessie looks really good. Think she will be with you for awhile yet. Good walks really help her staying fit.  You also.  I try as long as not raining.
Pretty nice out today.
