Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Great photo, she looks guilty, but who would yell at her.

Jack and Amy, loved the pictures of your babies.  I would love to have a dog again, but there is not way, I could get out and walk or take care of a dog.  So my baby is a kitty cat. Which I love dearly.

Gloria de, cats can bring a lot of sunshine into a home. I have always had dogs and I know down the road there will come a time that a dog will be too much but until then I am loving these. I have some photos on my tablet but will have to read up on how to put them here .Thanks to Bubble she came to my rescue on the dog quilt  .

I know that cats also bring joy to a home, and are great company.  My son and daughter both now have cats.  I have always had dogs and so long as my health permits will continue to.   Good that I now seldom leave Mimi alone, and love the greeting when I return home.

Mary Ann

Speaking of cats - this morning I heard a noise that sounded as if Tom had fallen out of bed; his bedroom is in the lower level below my bedroom.  I didn't hear any further noise, so went back to sleep.  When I finally decided to get up, I sat up and saw Kendrick on the bed beside me.  It was him jumping on the bed I heard but I was so asleep that I didn't realize he had jumped on the bed.  Usually it's very obvious when he lands on the bed and he lets me know he's there.  Just not always.

Mary Ann I now sleep in my family room on a day bed.  Mimi has a dog bed alongside.  I was told a year ago that her routine is to go out around  4 am, then come in  to eat and back to sleep.  She is usually right on schedule and I  sense  her staring at me at 4, but on occasion if I do not respond she jumps on the bed for a while.  At 70 pounds I know when she arrives.

Jack, I doubt Tom's Golden slept on the bed of anyone, but she was on the floor beside them, even beside me when I visited or if she visited here.  I wasn't a cat person until Annie bought Kendrick and he doesn't do any "cute" things, but we love him just the same.  He often is near me, regardless of the time of day.  I understand your love of Goldens because I think they are tops.  If I were younger and could have a dog, that would be my choice.  Our dog when we were young was a Heinz and that is a good variety too!

Good afternoon everyone,

I have to tell you a story from years ago, talking about animals and bed. My husband was a sub station inspector, so if power went off anytime day or night, he had to leave to check the station.  Once in the middle of the night he was called out. About and hour after he left I knew something large was laying in the bed with me I was almost afraid to turn over.  when I did it was Tiny our great dane, and she lay full length. first time in all the years we had her, had she got up on the bed

Mary Ann

Great story, Gloria.  Tiny must have been a great dog, let alone a Great Dane.

Did you know that Norm was the GreatDane when he first was on the computer?  I think that was when he was on Prodigy.

FlaJean, I love that beautiful beach scene. and no crowds on the the beach.

No, I did not know Norm used that name.  I was just thinking this morning about when we had a CB in the car, I was BellStar and my husband was Slim Jim. When we use to travel between Charleston and Long Island, that was a fun radio to have. It made the trip go faster.

Bubble. I notice that my photo showing in here is now almost 3 year old. Hair gone grey now. Will it be O.K for me to mail newer one to you so that you can change it?

WOW, Jean, that is a gorgeous photo.  The surprising part for me is that green-green grass!  With the blue moon & all the other moon warnings this week ahead, I wonder how the beach will fare.  We arrived at one campground on a beach that was damaged by the tide of a blue moon.  It had pulled out wires & trees from the whole closest bank of camp sites, shocking sight.

I was surprised this morning when Tom & Callie ran out into the pool area after their breakfast.  I heard the chirp warning of a robin when they see a cat!  Sure enough, had one sitting on the line near the house so grabbed a camera & made the picture into a birthday card for a friend whose birthday is today.

I was "Big MamaBird" in those CB days.... I was always hauling along a baby bird that had to be fed every couple hours all day so couldn't leave them home when I visited my parents or went camping.

Here is the First Robin of 2018

Shirley

Jean, the colors in your photo are so unusual..... I'd love to see it full size.... BLUE sand, and those soft splashes of sun across the waves and bouncing across the clouds.... makes a perfect contrast.  What camera did you use?  That would be one I'd enlarge to frame!

Amy

Shirley, sure hope that robin is heading this way. Both these dogs are shedding like crazy... are they getting ready for Spring?

FloJean, beautiful photo, would love to walk along the beach.

Shirley, I’ve been using my iPhone a lot because I always have it with me.  Also the photo colors are more natural and I never enhance the photos.  I never seem to get true red colors with my Panasonic 200, but the same picture with my iPhone gives a truer color.

jackwv

Jean that is a beautiful photo, raining and dismal here.  Amy think we are trying to rush spring, but have a way to go.  Shirley good shot of the bird, my sparrows were gone several days during severe cold, but back again and fear nothing left on the bushes to eat.  It must just be a gathering place.

Jean I also just point and shoot, but where possible use the camera.  Windows photo app makes it so easy to work on photos.  Now I adjust for my view so may overdo at times.

FlaJean

Shirley, by the way I meant to say that was a good shot.  That’s when a good zoom on the camera comes in handy.  You can zoom some with the iPhone by pinching out on the screen but no comparison with your camera.

jackwv

Jean and it was just recently that I learned you can touch a spot on the screen on an iPnone  and change focus.  Surprising what it will do to change from one focus to another.

Shirley

An iPhone is in the near future for me..... hope not a mistake, only one that tracfone uses/sells with their system & gets a good ratings & reviews, except a little smaller than some.  2 of my 3 kids approve of the apple phones but the one that helps all the time, prefers about anything else.  He will still help but not as eagerly.  Looks like it has a good camera.  I've never been happy with this other one & am sure it isn't ALL my fault it has problems, I just have taken credit for all it's quirks until now.  So far I've used the "chat" with 3 different people at tracfone & here's were your "snip it" tool has been a blessing, Jack.... I've snipped their responses & saved so I have proof of what they are telling me about my minutes transferring & prices.  What I see online is more than they tell me, price of minutes & all.  The first guy said this phone was sold out for 2 months & won't last long, so either bite the bullet & do it or may not when I am ready. The one Andy wanted me to buy, Samsung, like he got his wife for Christmas, is sold out.  They use the Straight Talk from Walmart, which is owned by tracfone, I was told, but MY tracfone minutes won't transfer or roll over to Straight Talk... and I have thousands of minutes stored up because I have to buy the year service & so far have not liked this model I have.  Anyway, iPhone, here I come!  Since the phone I have now came with triple minutes I will pay for another year of minutes & was told they will all roll over to the new phone.  2 of the chat people said that "triple" will transfer but it says on the screen...black & white... that "double & triple feature stays with the camera it came with". We'll see how this comes out.

Thanks for the comments about my robin.... since we had the one that built her nests all around our house for 8 years & came for scrambled eggs, bread & scrambled hamburger all those years, to feed her babies, I have a special place in my heart for them.

JeanneP, got your mail and it's done. Great avatar!

Amy

Gloria de as you know my son has a rescue Dane and she has settled in nicely now. The queen size bed wasn't working out so he bought a king size one and Skye still hogs all the bed. She has a bed beside them but as I told them it doesn't come with two humane heaters.
Our Dal/Dane cross also had a bed of his own and I would cover him up only to have him bump the bed to wake me up to recover him when his covers came off. Now who has who trained?

Jack, we lost a fair amount of ice yesterday and I hope more today. I know I am rushing Spring...Spring mean new life and lilacs blooming. and yes darn bugs lol.

Thanks Bubble. I just can't seem to get one with a big smile on my face.

jackwv

JeanneP, it looks good to me.  You are probably like many, I never like how I look in photos.

Amy all I need is a few days above freezing and here come the stink bugs.

Shirley I still have the iPhone 5 and while an old model, I am pleased with what it can do.  I am on a family plan and my son has upgraded to Samsung.  Impressive but see no need.  With main interests photos (forgot you can also make phone calls :)) I carry the Lumix for the zoom and quality of the photos.

FlaJean

Jack, I also have a small Panasonic ZS10 that I use a lot.  You take the photo by touching the screen, and like the iPhone it focuses wherever you touch.  It also takes good movies.  Of course with the smaller cameras you can’t get those nice shots with the blurred backgrounds like Sato and his wife get with their nice Canon cameras.  I think I started taking photos too late in life for doing anything beside point and shoot. :(

jackwv

Jean I have the fz200 and gave my first Panasonic  to my daughter.   Doubt I will upgrade, and like you, I am just point and shoot.   I have tried other settings but too confusing.  I do envy Sato and his wife for the beautiful close ups. The fz200 is also good for video.

...I am another Panasonic ( Lumix ) user, also another, just point and shoot'er...
