Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Thank you, Amy, but I have two pairs of those and the issue is that one or the other will slide off a boot when I'm walking which is why I'm looking for a staff, (Also to provide more walking stability!); hopefully at one of the local sports shops!

Shirley

Patricia, I wished you lived closer & I'd share some "staff" types I bring home from CO.  I have extra long ones for walking along the creeks so they hit the ground a few feet below me to make a "3 point" landing.  I have shorter ones for normal gravel ground & some just about the size of a cane.  My boys are always on the look out for special ones for me & I have at least half a dozen in the garage waiting to be carved.  My youngest will sit at the picnic table in the campground & shave off all the little nubs so they are smooth & won't snag clothes or especially any where my hand will hold.

I've gotten them in the habit of walking along with eyes open for any downed branch or small dead tree with an interesting "head".  Different woods make them light, heavy or sturdy... I have aspen, willow, pine & looks like cherry but sure it isn't.

I have one that we cut down, a provision when I agreed to sell our lot at the Lake in MO... I wanted a hickory stick from the lot before signing the deed.  In the center of the lot was a young tree that would have been cut down to build a cabin.... so we settled on that one.  Sadly, it is more than 10 years old & still not carved because it is twice as heavy as any other wood.

Bet you can take a walk out in the woods somewhere & find a downed limb that you can bring home to just shave off the limbs & use.  In the hardware store I found you can buy the rubber tips in different sizes, so just shave the wood to fit.  I did find a ski pole with the point on the end (a whole quarter at a garage sale) that has the strap on the hand to slip onto your arm... big help going down to the river when icy.  Good luck, think outside the box!

Sato, gorgeous colors & delicate leaves.  I will try to get photos in the next couple days to show you what I see here.  I am surprised how pretty it is all of a sudden.  We had another flock of robins migrating through this morning.  They are always so frisky & chattering to each other, can't help but smile at them.

JaneS

Just a thought, but how about a ski pole?

Shirley, I tend to fall because my balance is shaky and the black ice and mid-street frost heaves in winter necessitate a point at the bottom, and a cane wouldn't work as well as a staff.

Jane, I thought about a ski pole, but would like a staff as some folks have here. If I can't find the staff, I'll buy the pole. It was 2014's fall on black ice that put me in this predicament.

Shirley

The ski poles I found were for cross country so think are longer & do have the pointy end.... I actually bought a single one & then found a pair for the same quarter price so got 3 poles for 50¢.  Good luck with the hunt.

Thanks, JeanneP. Very nice photos. Looks like you had some good weather for the wedding.

I thought I would take a photo or two of my neighbor's Halloween display, all lit up. But discovered neither my laptop nor my tablet will take night photos - no flash. bummer.

Vanilla-Jackie

What can I say but a wonderful " of your next future generation family photograph.."...Jeanne P, you look very happy and proud to be by there side...

JeanneP,  Wonderful family photo, envy you the young ones.

Posting a photo for Shirley, it is one of trees in her front yard.  With the mix of green and color She titled it "changing clothes"

JeanneP, great picture of you and your family.  Jack, that is a pretty picture you posted for Shirley.  I think I am not going to get my color tour this year, not that there has been much color.

Sandy,  cutest little "Devil"  I have ever seen.  Hard to believe she has gotten so big.

Jeanne, nice to see you back in here.  Nice picture of you and your family.  You look so good.   Looks like a nice day for the wedding.

Shirley,  that is a lot more color than in my area.   Our trees have still not changed much at all.  THey are saying that it is because of so much rain we have had.

It is supposed to be warmer for the next few days.  Will be great for the little trick or treaters.

Nice to see some new pictures.

BIG BOX

Shirley

Thank you, Jack, for posting.... and I neglected to mention that both trees are in my front yard, both planted by us and we had no clue they would be so colorful when we planted!  The yellow one (sweet gum) actually started as a volunteer that I put in a pot for a couple years & my husband planted... so my baby.  The red one is a Cleveland Pear, blooms look like the Bradford pear trees & we bought it when not much taller than I am.  One tree that had been in the front yard was struck by lightning & we had to cut it down.  I thought of changing clothes because our temps go from cold to hot in 24 house & constantly having to change clothes to adjust to the weather.  Thanks for the comments, everyone.... hope the rest of you have a more colorful fall.

Jeanne, you sure look good & I envy your hair, has nice body & wave.  Good looking grandson in law & the kids are darling.  Maybe the boys have your hair (even if parted on the other side)....

Try taking those photos, even if very dark and send them to me to fix the light and post. They should be interesting to see.

Shirley

Jack does a fantastic job of photos of Christmas lights.... told me he takes before TOO dark (but I still don't have any luck with it.)

Just racing through, waiting for the dryer to stop

Thanks Shirley, take loads of photos and keep a few.  Seldom use the flash outdoors, prefer to take the photos at dusk.   Oglebay is preparing for their festival of lights.  Here is a photo from last year.

Shirley, trees do look like you had some Fall.  Our leaves are hanging on, and very little color Man going  to come to morrow to remove leaves, and thats a joke, cause still are on the tree.  Even with all the wind.

such vivid colors... I never saw that.  I would be collecting those leaves to make a collage.

JaneS

Beautiful, Sato!  I'm afraid we won't have any of that here.  I think yellow might be our brightest color this year.
