Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Shirley, one year I planted 100 tulip bulbs and only a few came up.  The next year I planted more bulbs but with each one I put a D-con tablet.  I had many tulips that year.

Jack, so many deer, and in front of lighted horses.

Shirley

Great idea, Mary Ann, hope I remember that when spring comes. I've used D-Con in cartons for mice in the house (no need since cats in the house) ... is there another kind for gophers?

Amy

Jack, amazing photo of all the deer!!

Shirley, I think the regular D-Con works with gophers, after all, they're rodents too.  I don't know what got after my first batch of tulips, but could have been moles, which I think also are rodents.  I really think the D-Con would work on any pest.

Quote from: angelface555 on November 22, 2018, 02:08:10 PMBubble, do you use 650 for the longest side and then compress it to under 20kbs? Or has that changed?

I use longest size=700 and compress to less than 100K.  That was the last measurements allowed last year.

Shirley

Didn't bother counting the deer but notice they are all the way around the carousel. Neat shot, Jack. I should be thinking about decorating outside while it's so nice, but can't get in the mood. This is a good year to become a spectator!

Mary Ann, I don't know if we have moles, gophers, voils or what... they have tunnels all over the yard but so far aren't making the volcanoes except on the outside of the fence. When driving down streets in this area we see their "high rises" everywhere, even at the curbs of the streets. Don't know what their natural enemy is, but they aren't doing their duty! I'm guessing fox or coyote since the neighbor saw a coyote watching a hole one day, behind their house.

after rain and snow comes a winter rainbow

Mary Ann

Patricia and Bubble, I don't know that I've ever seen a winter rainbow.  The sky is so pretty along with the rainbow.

Mary Ann

Amy

That is beautiful!! Amazing how soft the colours are.
Thank you both for sharing.

Patricia, that is an amazing scene, almost once in a lifetime. Looking to the range of mountains in the background, they don't seem to be snow covered. Is that unusual?  I always think of Alaska being nothing but snow during the winter months.

Pretty scene Pat, have never seen a cold weather Rainbow

Thanks everyone, the endless combination of snow and freezing rain have brought the Arctic many surprises. The skies always look like that, a  cloud cover in the winter. You don't want to see clear skies or blue because that means there's no cloud cover to keep out the cold.

Shirley, thank you, but those aren't mountains, just ridges with foothills behind them. There are three sets of foothills surrounding the valley with four mountain ranges just behind those. The city is built half in the valley and half on the ridges. Those mountains are the third highest and most isolated peaks on earth.

I just wanted to let you  know that I did find Florida Jean's phone number, and did try to call her, but either the number was disconnected or it was not in service.  And, I had sent her a private message, also, but if she isn't checking into the site at all, she wouldn't have seen the message.

I don't know any other way to get in touch with her and I know we will all miss her nice pictures and especially the nice video's she posted.

Jack, wondering if you might know how to get in touch with her?????  Do you have an e-mail addy for her???

Joy, Thanks for your message.  If you click on one of my old messages, it should bring up my email—at least it used to.?  But in case it doesn't, my email is ocalafellers@gmail.com.  Everything on this forum site is very small and literally is unpleasant for me.  I know how to make the messages larger but everything else on the site is very tiny on my iPad.  Since I use my iPad all the time I don't enjoy posting anymore.  It gives me a headache—it really does.  But thanks for thinking of me.

Jack and Amy, thanks to you also.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We went to our daughter's and had a really nice Thanksgiving.  It is a beautiful day here in Florida—73F and sunny.

FlaJean...
...what a welcoming surprise to see a posting from you...please dont be a stranger, and do come back and post...

Amy

Jean, great to see you back!!!  Jean, maybe Jack could give you a hand with the ipad. We sure could use your 78° although it is warming up some and now raining. I can just imagine how the walkway will be come morning.

Hey, Patricia, those still look like mountains to this person living in Kansas!  :2funny: I do recall you calling them foothills, does that mean there are higher mountains behind them?

Jean, Lloyd called (do you know him, from Holden, MO)... they are hoping to head to FL next week for a while. I couldn't give him much help about commercial campgrounds with all hook ups... with "by the week" rates. We stayed in either State parks or National Forest campgrounds but think it was generally state parks. Hope you can figure what is different about this place now, so far I am okay with the changes. Someone suggested using the icons from left to right (I was doing the opposite) and it works fine for me. When I forget to to that first I just copy what I've typed & delete it & go do the Bold, Name, Size, & then color & paste back in where the curser is bouncing. My sizes haven't changed on the computer (the reading of all). Don't give up, we'd miss your photos. Gorgeous & peaceful looking clouds & water, not a ripple in the water.

Jean, I a so happy to come here this morning and  see your  message,   Thanks for your e-mail addy.  I  will  add it to my  address book.

I know it is frustrating  trying to do something new, but hope you  will figure out a better  way and not leave us,   We would certainly  miss your beautiful pictures.   Thanks for sharing that nice sky picture.

Hope that  Jack  can help you.

Have a  great day,

I keep my photos in imageshack, yes there is an annual subscription but well worth it for not getting those unwanted pop - ups and sleazy adds that I once kept getting in photobucket...Yesterday I tested one of my imageshack photos for size and it came up large in here, which was the sizes we were used to before these upgrades to our forum..

Shirley

Here goes nothing.... got my brain so befuddled it may never recover! New Paint Shop Pro 2019 came today so I managed to get a photo from my desktop (after installing) that I wasn't going to cry if I destroyed. So far it resized, I added text but getting it in here is totally different from how it worked putting that family photo in. (Michael, NO MORE CHANGES, PLEASE!) The other day the option was to upload the photo into this Photos & at the same time, put it into My Gallery. Not sure about dragging & dropping, never did that before.

Shirley

Okay, that did not add it to My Gallery like the other time, does that mean it is using my Desktop (where I stored the photo to post from) or what, if I delete it from my Desktop will it disappear from here?  Help/explain, please, Michael??? Sorry, I was in such a rush to experiment I forgot to bold & color the text.

jackwv

Bubble thanks for the directions.   I shrunk the photo to our limits, and Shirley I always delete the reduced copy after posting and keep the large copy.

Shirley, you asked what was behind the three sets of foothills? Bracketing those foothills are four sets of mountain ranges. The largest, The Alaska Range is the third largest and highest in the world and one of the most isolated. The range is less than one hundred miles from my home. The following photo is not mine but it gives you a glimpse if the range's size.
