Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Eight year old Farrah on her bed six feet up. And yes, her resigned look is for the camera.

Some views of my scarves that haven't been out of the closet since late 2014, I can't seem to give them up.  :-\

Patricia -
Beautiful picture of Farrah.  She has a pensive expression on her face.  Looks like she's focused on something?

Nice collection of scarves!  My favorite is the one with the multi pastel zig-zag pattern.   I also like the floral, in blue and pink and beige.

patricia19

Farrah's looking like that because the camera is pointed at her. She hates to have her picture taken because of the flash. Don't tell me how nice my scarves are_ tell me to get rid of them. I don't use them but still, keep them. The next two photos are my wok for Tome,

Thank you!  That pretty much looks like mine.  There is rack in there and also some other thing that I don't recognize.  You sound like a Wok Pro!!

patricia19

I had the choice to buy more wok stuff but felt I didn't need it. I use my wok, two smaller sizes of cast iron pans, and my dutch oven, all from Lodge. I have three sizes of slow cookers, an electric skillet, and a deep fryer that I'll probably get rid of next, along with my countertop oven. The other stuff was either given away or donated.

I also have two sets of china and my Corel that I'm looking at. I've purchased four bowls and six large salad plates of heavy-duty porcelain crockery that I like, and now I'm looking at a matching set of six plates in the same brand and same plain white color. The two china sets I'll offer first to my younger sister and the Corel will undoubtedly be a donation.

For years, the prep work I did is no longer essential for a senior, and more work than I need so much of that equipment is going away.

I like that red scarf with white leaves.
I wish I lived nearer you: donating a Corel? lol

It's been more than 2 years that they are building a tall apartments building on the corner of my street.  Today this huge concrete canon parked in front of my window, awaiting for the concrete to arrive.

Concrete canon Jan 2121.jpg

It also blocked the exit from our building back lot.

Bubble, why so long to build?
Of course, since I'm totally ignorant of building anything, that length of time might actually be fast in the building trade. Locally, since 2010, they've been widening streets, replacing signals and sidewalks and bridges. Last November, they closed down the two nearest bridges to replace them. The new bridges won't reopen until next November! This means I need an extra three more dollars for a taxi or a new bus change.

Here is a link to Corel dishes, an inexpensive but durable brand.

Angel, with the lockdown, they cannot work...  before that, they closed borders  and the Arab builders were not allowed in. In between, the constructor went bankrupt and had to find someone to rescue him. A long story as you can see.  Now They seem to resume building. I wonder what is happening with those who bought a flat there and were supposed to move in months ago.

I have been using Corel  exclusively for the last 40 years.  I had exactly the same set as Karren, with tiny green flowers around the edge.  It's been years that they don't import them anymore.

patricia19

I wonder if that is happening here? I don't get the local news. This city is the freight hub for most of the state outside of the S.E. portion. They have been redoing the local infrastructure since 2010, and the railroad that services the state has three working yards.

The Southeast has tourism; we have freight and European tourism due to the mountains and rivers. And we have the main University campus dealing in climate change and Northern climate, oil, and gas. The northern tier has oil and fisheries. Of course, all of this was pre-pandemic.

My mother had the original blue cornflowers with her bakeware. I have a winter white set that matches my tableware. Years ago, I got tired of so many different colors and patterns and went neutral. My bathroom towels and rugs are plush gray, and my bedroom has two bedding sets, one in gray and one in white. My kitchen sets are in gray, black, and white. Below is a catalog photo of my set, Winter Frost, not very glamourous, but I like it.

Dainty---I really like the edge.  Sets off the simple white.

Thanks, I like it too, it's durable and it goes with everything.

Bubble, can you access this?

Yes! Lovely!
A friend had a set with a splash of sweet peas, a bit like "shadow iris" .  It was beautiful, but I never saw it on the site, no idea what it was called.  Actually I don't even know the name of my own set with the border of tiny green flowers.  Karren didn't know either.
I do like "secret garden" from what I saw now.

patricia19

It wasn't tiny shamrocks or clover? Or Lark & Lola?
Secret Garden is a nice pattern that could go with most other patterns. I see my Winter Frost pattern has changed to Black and red swirls on the square plates.

This is my dinner plate pattern https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41EGL7nDHEL.jpg Unfortunately, I broke (can you imagine?) one of the lunch plates. I didn't buy as a whole dinner set but just the dinner plates, the lunch plates and a set of ramekins. The other Corning dinner plates are the solid white. My remaining Cornflower pattern consists of a large casserole dish with lid, two six inch casserole or vegetable dishes, and four smaller vegetable/individual casserole dishes, and the top of a double boiler.

MarsGal I've seen that pattern before, it's probably still available for replacements?

It is Purim day and costume time for children ( and grown ups!) but with Corona, parades, parties and such are forbidden.

Nonetheless one can have fun even at the pool (no bathing allowed)

The last picture is at school

Bubble, I love that pool and Aviv looks very fierce!  ;) And Illy looks very debonair!

These photos are wonderful!

Tomereader1

Thank you, Bubble, for posting those pictures. The exterior shots look so nice and warm, and Aviv -- wow!  He looks like a charmer.  I do love his beautiful hair.

FlaJean

Enjoyed seeing the family photos, Bubble.

Shirley

Love the photos of Illy & Aviv, Bubble. I'm sure you were as active with her as she is with Aviv, nice to see another generation "passing the torch". I've been avoiding being with my great grands because they are still seeing so many other kids at school & sports. Even though they are good about wearing masks, I've heard of too many that have the antibodies & didn't know they even had Covid. Hope by adults getting the shots this will come to an end, but don't know how it ends when the kids can keep passing it around. So sad how much the kids are missing, but heart warming to see a mother finding ways to enjoy the days with her child. Tell Illy that I do appreciate that she allows you to share the joy with us.

so_P_bubble

Mmmmm... Shirl, I did not ask permission! lol
And yes, kids go around so much that they could be infected without even realizing it. Illy worries about me more than I did. After all, I have lived a long way and so less to lose than these young adults that are now catching the new dangerous variants.

This is Aviv's "cell" at school, reading the Passover story on ZOOM for other schools to watch.

Bubble, what a good photo of Aviv! They have a statewide zoom system here as schools are closed, but I don't know more about it.
