Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

It is so nice to see Aviv again and his friends!

Shirley

One of these days I'm gonna find a map of Israel so I can see where each town/city is located. I love history and am so envious of you sitting right in the heart of the "old world" we've read about all our lives. Thank you, Bubble, for all you do & share with us. I think Aviv is lucky to have so many friends plus a loving mother & grandmother to give him such a charmed life! May the blessings of the season be shared with all.

Thank you!
Google has lots of maps!

Beverly

Bubble - Wonderful pictures of Aviv and his friends.  Beautiful fabric in "Santa's" clothes!

One of your storm photos looks like a car in a sinkhole! Is the work to repair the damage still going on?

Beverly - He looks like such a cheerful baby.  Adorable smile.  :)

Shirley, I didn't know that was the Queen's favorite show.  The Downton Abby movie was good.  Enjoyed it more than watching football on Christmas.

Good to know everyone enjoyed their Christmas.  Marilyne haven't heard from you yet.  Good to know you got some rain.  We are having a warm but overcast day here.

Have a good day all!

Shirley

I'm lovin' the photos, Beverly and I really think little Beverly is gonna be the "spittin' image" of you. Can see James is all boy and betcha Beverly will be the leader of the two! He just looks like such a peaceful little guy and she looks wired! Cousin Keani has darling dimples that must have come from you unless somebody else in the family has them! Can picture what that trio will be into in another year (and forever after). Thanks, no little ones right now, youngest of my greats is 4 or 5, I can't keep track.

You're probably as sick as I am of seeing pictures of snow. But here we are this morning. It's not its usual busy Monday morning traffic and other than a few fender benders and a city bus siding off the road on Friday, it's all good. Next weekend we're supposed to be out of the storms. Five photos is all and the last barring a major calamity. Look at the ice on the side of the building, middle right.

I don't believe I've ever seen this much snow or ice here before.

Adorable babies photos. It gives the urge to hug them!

Patricia, Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Sandy

Patricia,
it looks to me like the roads are not
plowed that well...

To me,  here in Portland Maine that doesn't
look like a very big snow storm...  it doesn't
look plowed out very well.

Here in the city plowing is done and
all the snow is trucked out to an aria where
the snow can be dumped... so our city streets
are quickly cleared out ..

But that is because we can get some
pretty good "Nor' Easters"  that  where the
snow can be a couple of feet before the
plows pile the snow much higher.  That
is why big trucks come in at night
and haul most of the snow away from
the city streets..

So I presume that you don't normally
get that much snow at one time where
you live in Alaska.

Good luck in getting around! f

Sandy, the air in the Arctic is extremely dry, and you need humidity to make snow. So no, that snow is not usual for us. We usually have snow in either October or March because we have humidity then. I have a friend in Buffalo, NY, who laughs when I say it's either cold or snowy here. She always has more of both! The state has made records for the amount of rain seen this December. It's never been this way before, and the storms, sleet, and rain are due to continue onto the new year.

I don't know what's with the city crews. Up until the evening of the 23rd, They were doing their usual nightly work of graders, dump trucks, and those incessant backup alarms. However, they haven't been back in my area since. So, either they're on holiday until after New Year's, or perhaps they're working on outlying areas first? The poor business owners hire people to clear their lots and sidewalks, and the following night, you'd swear they'd never been by!

Due to possible structural damage from snow on roofs, they announced today that they would fine those who don't keep them clear. A report on the news stated that sometimes when the ice on the roads is covered with new snow, it can cause damage in March when the snow melts. Also, a couple of roofs collapsed in Delta, a small village not too far from here. One of those roofs was the only grocery store that closed indefinitely. What will those folks do without a grocery? They'd have to drive just over 100 miles to here.

It's worse with the city now into full-blown emergency status with other cities sending help. We're not prepared for this type of weather, and winds are now 40-50 miles per hour. After some roofs caved-in in outlying areas and a couple of trucks and a city bus going off the roads, there is no traffic other than essential, no buses, taxis, or private unless the traffic is an emergency.

Some folks on the northeast side of town are entering their second day without electricity. We're at 12 feet of snow with another 8 to 10 inches expected with gale-force winds and rain, lots of rain.

This isn't normal weather. A city on the North Slope,  Cold Foot made records worldwide in the mid-sixties for reaching plus 44. Yesterday it had 67 degrees in December! All over the state but significantly further north, records are smashed due to a stalled front in the Bering sea. Some of it has passed into Canada's Yukon territory, and my sister in Idaho says her weather is said to be coming from Alaska.

I hate to be so dramatic, but while I've always been safely on the peripheral of some disaster, fire, flood, and earthquakes, I've never actually been in one.

Beverly, I predict that little boy will get away with anything & sister just looks ornery & get the blame for the troubles they think up!  Now that last little boy will smile his way out of mischief & have all the ladies sure "he couldn't possibly do that"! Darling babies & know you will have such fun with them this year & many years to follow.  My mother used to say, "God gives us teenagers so we are ready to let them go"..... haha... you think?

Marilyne

Beverly - I enjoyed seeing those adorable faces, first thing this morning!  They started my day out on the right track! Please keep the pictures coming . . . the new generation is here!
