Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Patricia - You're very perceptive! My daughter said she asked him to please pose for Gigi (me).

The rarest are red hair with blue eyes. Wesley's are brown.

The phlox are in bloom right now. My picture doesn't do them justice!

How beautiful Beverly. It must be breathtaking to see it in real and not on a photo.

Handsome pair, those carroty hair!  It is said that biblical King David was a red head too.

How lovely, Beverly! As Bubble said, it must be wonderful to see them in full bloom! I was once a redhead with blue eyes like my mother and grandmother before me. Both of my sisters on either side were redheads with brown eyes and took after my dad and his side. Now we're all of the greyhaired tribe.

My daughter, Marie, had almost burgundy hair with a smattering of freckles across her nose.  She had green eyes.

I got into genealogy when I decided to see if all the family tales brought down through the generations were true (They were); I first tried Ancestory and then went to 23 and me for their medical DNA test. So far, everything they've come up with, I already knew. I guess the old axiom to listen to family was correct. However, :) I hear good things about Heritage...just kidding....hopefully.

Interestingly, I'm learning that my maternal side seems to be all over Ancestry, while my paternal side prefers 23andMe. I keep getting emails from both trying to get me to do and pay more by telling me all about 3rd, 4th and 5th cousins and our similarities. I had a great uncle on my mom's side who did a family tree in the forties through 1963; when he died, that was done long before computers, and he self-published a book. The first part was all the begots while the second was family histories and politics.

Edit: Another surprise was my cousin, David, from my mom's sister Rachel and I could be fraternal twins,  except he's taller. Same looks, same ailments and same pecularties.

Beverly, the scent from the phlox must be heavenly!!

Love the carrot tops!! So cute!

Years ago we had gone to MO when the phlox were blooming and I vowed "to get some as soon as we got home" only I wasn't sure what to ask about.  My mother had tall ones she called "wild phlox" and some that hugged the ground she called "creeping phlox". To my surprise when we pulled into our driveway we had the wild variety blooming at the end of the garage. Your photo is beautiful, Beverly. Lucky you getting to see that!

I also have some bright red headed great grands that have the bluest eyes EVER! We have been giving credit to "the other side" of parents/grands & greatgrands. My twin aunts had the big blue eyes and to be honest, were white haired in their early 30s just like I was, so I don't know what color their hair was before!

Patricia, my family has done the 23&me but my brother got a lot more information than I did. Never did understand why. When we compared records he received a lot more about where all the branches came from. He also did a lot of research before computers & one of the cousins on Mother's side made numerous trips to Germany where one line came from. The German line had heard the branch that came to the US died out so were surprised to find a lot of people with that name living in America.

Beverly, I miss seeing those fields of lavender in Ocala also.  Haven't seen anything like it here.

Passover exhaustion?... 10 days holidays!

Bubble - Oh, to be able to rest in that position again!  How is grandmother doing?  :)

Amy

Bubble...how sweet that photo is!!!

Oh, to be able to go until you crash again!

Shirley

Love it, Bubble.... what you call "pure bliss" of the young!  Would be nice to think his days could always be so content, wouldn't it?

GrandMa is very tired after this long Passover.
Between son's visit, special meals and irregular hours, I wish I could also have such a relaxed sleep.
Unfortunately my sleep is erratic: between nature calls, stress and pains from these temperature fluctuations, I don't seem to return to my normal self. Maybe when summer will finally decide to settle in, then...

patricia19

I am so sorry you feel that way, Bubble. I know the feeling lately. I am so tired at night, but when I lay down, I'm wide awake or fall asleep immediately, only to awaken after an hour and be up for another one to two.

Beverly

Bubble - I just knew you must be tired out with all the activity! I am like that when a lot of family converges on me. I love having them here and enjoy every minute, but the quiet when they leave is nice.  :)  This chronic illness I have is the culprit, that, and nights like the one you described.

I do count my blessings and know that things could be a lot worse!

Tomereader1

I get sleepy; go to bed; toss and turn, up to visit the facilities; lie back down; sleep does not come. I get up, go watch an hour or so of shows I have DVR'd or British Mysteries; start to yawn; go back to bed; with luck maybe an hour or two of actual sleep.
Last two nights, sleeping in tank top and shorts; tonite will be my old standby; ratty, worn thin sweatsuit & socks (for my cold feet). Our 80+ degree days, morphed into a high of 60 and I've been cold all day.  Oh, well, saving money on not using the A/C.

patricia19

Please join in! The more, the merrier! Bubble suggested a quiz and gave me a few suggestions. The same rules apply. Two questions per person and remember I'm in a different time zone so won't be always as fast to answer as you might wish. I hope everyone enjoys the quiz and that it might induce others to bring their own quizzes, games, and riddles to play!

A smile to brighten your day! James is getting to be a little charmer. In spite of his small size he can now crawl on all fours!

Amy

Beverly, he is a heart stealer for sure!!

Ah, to be so young when everything is bright and new again!

That smile is a magnet for a hug!

Shirley

Beverly, I'd bet my bottom dollar the girls will be flocking for that beautiful smile. It just takes a little longer for boys to venture out. That photo will be the one everyone will remember & you are right, sure put a smile on this face! Thanks!

Beverly

In the videos Brynn sends me he has such a sweet personality. Just makes me want to hug him! And you can tell he loves his twin sister.  :smitten:

Something a little different.....

Hang Glider

In the late 1970s Chape started a business making and flying hang gliders. (This is one of his gliders) This photo was taken in my hometown. I grew up near the foot of this mountain. Since then, hang gliders have become more high-tech, but this is still a popular site for flying. They've added a ramp for take-off.

patricia19

Bev, what a terrific photo! Was that taken from another glider or from the ground?

MarsGal

Interesting photo, Beverly. It reminds me that up near Renovo, PA there is popular hang glider site. Below was a restaurant that we often gathered at for the Stuart family reunions. George and I would watch the hang gliders, even talked to one and made the trip up to the lift-off site. I still miss George.

Shirley

Beverly, at 87 I would still go up on a hang glider!  See them now & then around here but not a lot (no hills). We used to have a local that used a motorized hang glider that flew over the fields west of the city... ate my heart out to be on one. Lifelong dream, and I am serious about that, begged my father to make me one & with all the engineer kids & grands, you'd think they would listen to my plea. No deal........ I just had a shiver & goose bumps on my arms at another look at that glider. Did you ever go up?  Love the thought, thanks for the photo (I have a new respect for Chape!)

RAMMEL

We had a group up County that would fly out of a small airport. They had what is called, locally anyway, Ultra Lights.  Probably what you called motorized Hang Gliders.. Haven't seen or heard of them recently. But a few years back they created a stir when they flew south one night to our area and then back. People saw them, with no lights on them, and said they saw UFOs. If you looked carefully you could see that there were several of them in a circular formation. But ---- There were believers.
