Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Still looking good, Bev! Isn't he retired now?

Patricia - Yes, that was his retirement picture, taken more than 5 years ago.  The photographer asked him to ditch his glasses and beard, so he looks quite different. My bare-faced Michael!  :)  That picture hangs in a courthouse in Vermont.

Sandy - Thank you.

for Amy

This is what I saw  while waiting on hubby at the lumber store. This luna moth was on the brick while another was on the door!! Nice to see them making a come back.

MarsGal

Lovely, Amy. I have never seen one.

Shirley

Amy, add me to the list that's never seen one altho the name is familiar to me for some reason. I even looked it up for Alaska, and we don't have them here. However, we do have some gnarly ones and matching descriptive names!

Your photo was very crisp and clear. I wish I were that clear and that steady, especially on the fly, as it were!

Shirley

Hey, Beverly, I came to have another look at the Luna moth and scrolled to the top of the screen & saw Michael's photo! I'm on a laptop all the time so small screen & usually only one photo shows up when we talk a lot (I'm the worst).... He is very handsome & looks like a kind person.

Amy

Bubble, thank you for posting this for me. We have not seen these in a long while and I was told they are making a come back. Nice to see..

Have you ever seen a Gypsy Moth? It is being renamed as a Spongy Moth because the previous name is now considered as offensive.

I have never seen one, but moths seem to be an interesting species

Gypsy Moth - renamed Spongy Moth.jpg .

Amy

Good grief...seems everything is offensive anymore. Love the markings on the moth.
Thank you for sharing Bubble...

For Amy

My sister loves dragons and cats!! I really lucked out when I found these to make her a quilt. Not the usual quilt but it is what she likes. The cat with the mask reminds her of her cat Captain Jack.

Amy, you are very talented and loving. I know your sister will be so pleased by these and your effort!

Bubble, we may not have the luna moth but we have plenty of the gypsy moths! A very clear photo.

Amy

Bubble, thank you for posting this.

Patricia, thenk you for your kiind words,  she loved the quilt!!I had wanted to put the quilt on her bed with a few toy dinosaurs leading into it. Due to the weather disaster that happened in this area, she recieved it quicker than planned. She now has a two sided quilt.

Shirley

Love the quilts, Amy... do you put a "batting" or whatever inside?  I bought a couple big bags at an estate sale for Cas' mother (years ago) & never got them to her and don't know anybody around here that quilts to give to. The Salvation Army back where I grew up used to do quilting for people so will call them here to see if they would use it. My mother had done all the hand work as a young girl putting together the pieces for a quilt and had the Salvation Army quilt it for her, was beautiful lavender & white, and turned up missing after she & Dad died. Too many people in & out of the house during that 5 years span of when she died and Dad died to guess who would have taken it. She was so thrilled to have it put together & kept in a big antique trunk. I seemed to be the only one really upset at it's disappearance, but she was so proud of it. I'm sure your sister was thrilled with her gift!

Thanks for posting, Bubble. I've heard about "gypsy moths"... even a movie by that name that was filmed near Wichita. I never watched the movie but took the kids to watch the action one day & met some of the characters/stars. Beautiful moth, I've never seen one. I'm not a moth fan 'cause they start out as worms, don't they? Had a big pot with a tomato plant in it & discovered worms all over one day. AFTER I killed them with spray I googled & found out I killed a whole pot of Monarch butterflies! Was years ago & still bothers me.

Gloria

AMY  never thought dragons could look beautiful but that is beautiful, the cats, too.

Amy

Shirley, thank you. Yes, batting is inside this.   I just gave a big bag full of pieces from quilts to a lady that makes cat and dog toys ,uses it for stuffing in the toy.

Gloria, thank you, this is not a quilt that would appeal to me but since my sister loves both dinosaurs and cats she has it. She can use either side.

AMY, the quilts are gorgeous!  My grandmother and her friends used to quilt in our living room and my sister, Margie and I played under the quilt frame.  I've always regretted that I never learned how!  But I do appreciate the skill involved...and the time!  Christy made a beautiful quilt for her son and his new wife so the talent is still in the family!

AMY, the quilt you made for your sister is quite something!  WOW‼️ A couple of my grandsons would sure love the dinosaurs side‼️  The kitties on the flip side are so cute❣️

Oh no, SHIRLEY😩😩 How could you kill the Monarches?  😩😩 Sometimes we just don't know what the 🐛 are, so we do our best. I know you felt bad😘

BEVERLY, what a nice picture of your son.  I know you are so proud f him.  No facial hair or glasses can really change the way one looks‼️  I cannot believe that Kenai is already 10 months old.  Such a cute boy he is.

Amy - That's a wonderful quilt but I prefer the whimsical kitty side!  :)

Jenny - Is your new avatar a picture of your newest grandchild?

Shirley and Jenny - Thanks for mentioning my son's picture. Shirley, he is a kind person and was a well respected judge.

Amy

Jenny ,thank you. My sister loves both and her grandson also loves dinosaurs.

Bev, I am with you, I am not a fan of dinosaurs, kittens yes.

I have this one already to go to the long arm and it was fun to put together. I usually get Bubble to post photos but will see if I can do it.

A beauty, Amy, and it looks like a lot of work as well. There will be a lucky one soon!

MarsGal

My mom used to do a little quilting. She made me what I think I remember her calling a Wedding Plate pattern. I still have it. When she went into assisted living, I let her have it for her bed. When she passed away, I brought it back. It has been packed away in my cedar cabinet and will remain there because the cats would destroy it.

That is a lovely quilt, Any, you do beautiful work!

My mother quilted; her sewing room was what I imagine yours must be like. She made everything, and for everyone, a skill she and her sister Rachel picked up growing up on a Midwest farm in the nineteen twenties and thirties. That was a hardscrabble life.

One thing I remember but never fully understood how it worked was in the room next to her sewing room; she had a room-sized wooden loom set up. It went out more than up, and while she sewed and assembled the covers on the Singer, she used the loom to put in the batting and quilted it there, or I believe that was what she did. With my messed-up vision, I couldn't do more than hand mending, so I never learned.

Amy

Bubble, thank you. This was a joint effort quilt. My friend made the blocks, gave them to me and I put them together. I wsn't sure which pattern of log cabin I wanted but found this and thought I would try it.

MarGal, I have heard of Wedding Ring pattern.I think it would surprise you if you had that quilt appraised. People don't realize what hidden treasures they have!

Patricia, thank you. Your Mom had a quilting frame set up..that one would be made of wood. I do have one  made of plastic that my grandaughter and I quilted one of her quilts on.

Quilting has made a come back over the years, lots of young people are now into quilting.

Bev, I had to scroll back to see what others were saying about a photo......nice young man there!!

Thanks Amy, that frame took up the entire room and she called it a loom.

I know what you mean about treasures. My mom used a singer handed down from her mom that had the black iron pedals. Unfortunately, my older sister who was my mom's durable power of attorney, sold it back to Singer after my mom died. She said she put the money into the parents' trust but no one verified it and there is a reason she is estranged from everyone even her kids.

Mom had a lifelong collection of dolls and dad sold them early on to pay for Mom's treatment. One sailor doll from WII brought $7000. Altogether the dolls brought in over $15,000 which was needed as the place charged $5000 monthly in 1995.

Thanks Bubble, but I deleted it as it was showing two instead of the one photo I had expected. When I brought it to the edit page, it showed one but when posted, it showed two. Another program glitch?

so_P_bubble

You are disruptive with those delete!  ;D
What was the problem with having two photos? They were so clear and detailed.
