Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Bubble - I am sad to hear Don "Radioman" is so isolated. We do miss him and all the photos he posted. He was the perfect Santa Claus! If you know of anyone he would like seeing pictures of, I could try to find some. I took dozens of photos at the Bashes. Unfortunately, I'm not very organized so sometimes finding the pictures takes a bit of searching!  :) That's fine, because these days I don't have a lot of other things taking up my time!

Beverly, I'd love to see any you have time to post, such good memories. I've been searching for those photos of MY twin aunts & still haven't found them. I'm not only disorganized but everything is a mess of OLD SD cards, photo banks, you name it. Whatever happened to "the day I would have time to sort & label?" :-\

I thoroughly enjoyed the photos y'all have posted but don't dare go back right now to make a list or I'll have to start over. So far I've had texts & phone calls from 2 of the 3 kids & a grand that caught me in the middle of reading in here so I never got back to finishing a post. It is getting dark & I need to take trash out for will check in tomorrow! Thanks for posting the photos!

Bubble, tell Don "Hi" for me, if he even remembers who I am.  Tell him I was a great admirer of his canes.
I was thinking today about how much less I "mingle" with people this year, 2 years, since Covid.  Our lives have all changed a lot.

Rae Inskeep and Dick Carstenson at the bash in Williamsburg, PA, hosted by Ardie

Dick is holding the little bottle of "Northern Comfort" (maple syrup) that I brought as souvenirs for everyone. Chape and I spent hours in the hotel room making the little flags on a toothpick and tying the red ribbon on the night before the banquet!  :) 75 to be exact! If memory serves me this bash was right after 9/11.

Thank you Bev! Rae was a good friend but didn't suffer fools gladly.

This is what my friend saw when she looked out her kitchen window.

That brings back a memory to me.  In the house where I raised my family, I got up one morning and opened the curtains on the big front window and there was a beautiful deer practically staring me in the eye.  She wasn't more than 6 feet away.  We both stopped in our tracks and I held my breath for probably 20 seconds or more until she lowered her head and continued to eat my grass as I watched!  It was amazing and unforgetful.  Thanks for reawakening that memory!

Aviv and Leonardo mascot -Cyprus oct2022.jpg

Today's update: Aviv is warmly greeted by the Leonardo Hotel mascot in Cyprus.
They are on a 4 days short vacation. Cyprus is an hour flight away from Israel.
I am sure more photos will follow...

Amy

Bubble, Aviv is growing up so fast!! Looking forward to more photos of his vacation.

Bubble, love the sunset!!

Aviv is building what we call an inuksuk.

An inuksuk or inukshuk is a type of manmade stone landmark or cairn built for use by the Inuit, Iñupiat, Kalaallit, Yupik, and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America. These structures are found in northern Canada, Greenland, and Alaska. Wikipedia

Our Succot 8 days holiday is starting.
Here you can see my neighbors building the succa in the garden.
They will eat all their meals there.

Bubble, Aviv is becoming a very well-traveled cosmopolitan young man. I feel that whatever he does with his life will be profound. And yes, we have those structures.

Kalaallit are Eskimos from Greenland. Inupiat and Yupik are a type of Eskimo. Locally they host indigenous people from around the world in a gathering every few years, a sort of indigenous United Nations.

I liked seeing the mosaics from Cyprus. We're getting a trip around the world thanks to Aviv and your son and daughter. I hope they know how much we appreciate being treated to their photos!

I loved the Succot photo! I remember one year you treated us to a group of photos showing different ways and places those outdoor eating places were assembled. Again, so appreciative!

well I am trying again the post's heep disapering.wel we are home but not with good newse. we went to see the finachel adviser today, they had growen too large so they devided and we were asined to a deferant man. he was nice enough but not like things were, the govenement crunch caused us to loose severial thousand dollare so what we have left is going into CD's not as good of a returne but garnnteed. we are too old to start over or loose $$$ either. i have said before life is no funn any more, too much eveal any more. and a hand shake is no good any more, seams you have to spend $$ with a lawler and have it regesteard in court , and not sure that will take care of it either. if god wold call my # any time would suet me.

A few seconds to sit & look the photos over again. For sure, Bubble, I am another that totally appreciates the vacations "your kids" take & you share with us!  I would have loved to spend my life traveling, satisfied now to sit home and enjoy the view through your kids eyes! A special treat, thanks to you & your family. If you don't mind I will snag the photos of Aviv to send my gr-grandson (less than a year older) to show him & I'll be he would love to trade places. His family & gr-parents are leaving Friday for a week in Disneyworld in FL. He's been there before so not all that excited, but his youngest sister didn't get to go so trip is mainly so she can say she has been! I'd love it if the boys had a chance to meet someday!

Patricia, those brilliant leaves are what I think of when looking forward to fall. Nothing like that in KS and didn't see any bright colors except for the bright red leaves of the wild sumac in MO, I've never seen it so gorgeous in all my years. Could be it was that the contrast of dull brown weeds made it seem brighter? Thanks for posting your beautiful world.

patricia19

Thanks Shirley. The main reason for posting was that everything that usually happens in sixty days was compressed into thirty! I have never seen autumn so short.

Amy

Patricia, our bright colours are now fading to mute tones and the leaves are falling.. :(

Enjoyed your photos, thank you.
