Jack, Mimi could have won "hands down" in any dog show calling for personality!  Her smile looks so sincerely filled with love.  I would
spend all my time hugging her.  What a blessing that you found each other.  She is absolutely beautiful, and so were Jessie & Zoe... I didn't know you or Kibbles during her time.

Jean, I was whispering to myself "what is it, what is it?" until I got to what it is.... don't think I have ever seen a rose like that.  I am
shocked the photo came from Larry's iPhone,  had no idea they had such a good camera.  Seeing a blooming rose near the first of Dec would make anyone wish they lived down south~  Great job, Larry!

I've been emptying out a tool shed that has needed to be torn down ever since we bought this house.  Cas had even put up one of those plastic buildings near it to house his riding John Deere & other tools.... but kept putting new rolled roofing on the wooden one.  We have another storage place on the other side of the house that he built to store his riding Allis Chalmer mower & another riding mower, Craftsman, that he should have returned to Sears because he didn't use it but a few times & gave up & bought the JD.  Our
gr-daughter now has the Craftsman & loves it & #1 son has the Allis (Cas wanted him to have it) that comes with leaf picker-upper and a tiller.  Anyway, I now have room in that storage area to put all the shovels, rakes, sledge hammer & ax... & lots of other stuff, along with the hose cart & my big wagon... Need to buy some new tarps to staple along the inside boards to make sure no snow blows through the cracks... KS wind can blow through anything.

Right now I gotta go dip the last of the leaves out of the pool (NONE are from my trees) and run the filter to vac the bottom one last time before winterizing, that job for tomorrow.  I've run the sprinklers for 2 hours on each side of the front yard today to get deep enough the roots on the new trees will go DOWN instead of up after a sprinkle of rain overnight. We are bone dry here.  I'd love a nap but don't think that will happen.  I did all that work this morning and forgot my Fitbit was inside being charged!  That is not fair because both sons & gr-daughter see each others steps & I want credit!

Shirley you have it right with Mimi, she has found her spot.

Just up to the park, almost 60 today and lots of tourists.   Took just a few photos.

This one is the back drop I have often used.

Here is a photo of a line of Ginkgo Trees at the park.  They have now dropped their leaves and fruit that you can smell 100 yards away.  Giving a photo of the fruit.   Understand the seed is edible, but with the smell of the fruit I am not bringing it home.

I had to look up your "Ginkgo trees" & fruit, Jack..... sounds like it would be hard to eat that fruit & possibly not even much, if the smell didn't kill you.  About as useful as the Bradford & Cleveland pear trees with their beautiful blossoms that will stink you out of the house if you bring a bouquet in. (Voice of experience)....I've never seen or heard of the Ginkgo before & since we have enough icky trees (like those mulberry trees you can't kill off).... hope nobody brings any plants here.  I have a lot of that tall grass.... that needs to be cut down & tied up for the trash.  Awful job with our KS winds.  They make a perfect background for posing your girls.  Thanks for the pics!

Shirley I like the grass, have none.  Neighbors have and understand you can separate.  They are cut down low in spring and do make a nice setting.

Interesting about those trees: Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as the ginkgo tree or the maidenhair tree, is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years.

Jean your rose photo is breath taking. I bet it has a delicate smell as well as delicate colors.

Ginkgo trees here are often called "stinko" because of the smell.  There are none in my neighborhood, but I think the trees are attractive when in bloom.

FlaJean, the photo of the rose is gorgeous.  How long will you continue to have blooms down there?  So far up here in Auburn, we've had a few light frosts which have brought beautiful fall color to our many trees, but lots of leaves still on the trees.

Sue I never knew what the trees were and have walked under them for years.  Thank your Auburn friends for the big win over Ala.

To rain later but 62 degrees so a long walk at the park.  Have posted just about everything I see.  Today a photo of what they put up when the hanging baskets come down.  They light up at dusk.  Now the second photo may make you wonder about my mind, but I was sitting on a bench letting Mimi chew on some grass.  I spotted a section of her back that appeared to me to be an old lion.   Guess it was like looking for shapes in the clouds. Posting  a crop of the photo.

Jack,  you have a great "eye".   It does resemble an "old lion",  Would never have guessed it was the back of Mimi.   I used to get a magazine that had a page of odd looking pictures that you had to guess what it was.  Very similar to the one you showed.

I can't remember the name of the magazine, but I do remember it was a real neat magazine.

Oglebay has a great lodge, but also has cottages, and while rustic outside are beautiful inside.  Today I drove past a group of them popular with golfers.    Here is a view from  in front of one.

Haha, Jack, after watching the dog show I thought at first your furry critter was one of the dogs that has hair combed over it's eyes. I
thought there was a number of dogs with different hair "dos" this year.  Such a pretty view, I can see why Oglebay gets a lot of visitors.

Jack, beautiful view, but that tree is sort of odd looking with those limbs at the top unless my eyes are missing something.

Jean your eyes are fine.  They have quite a few trees bent and broken by the wind and sometimes do not do the greatest job trimming.  Believe I would have tried topping that one.

Here is my question mark tree, bent by the wind.

Radioman, Don, is acting as Santa this week.  Do you think this happening there could faze him?
Ten moms, each with a pair of twins.

That Chicago Santa looks a little overwhelmed.  I hope our Canada Santa (Don) is enjoying being Santa once again this year.  The below photo of our Santa is enjoying a little fishing.  This is a display in our town (Niceville).  Fishing is very important in this part of the world.

When we were in Holland MI for Thanksgiving, we took a family picture.  We're all sitting on the couch and I'm in the middle.  To begin with, I need a pillow behind my back when I sit on upholstered furniture and I didn't have one in the picture.  It shows a little old lady hunched down between two normal-sized people.  Talk about shrinking!!!

The picture was posted in Norm's Boat & Tackle in case anyone wants to hunt for it.

I've lost inches, too.  I was 5'7" on my wedding day in 1958, the day after my graduation from the U. of South Carolina.  Today I'm really stretching to reach 5'4"!  Fortunately I don't have back pain.  My sister who is 20 months younger has also lost height and has a lot of back pain--had to have something done to her back last year--and I don't think it helped much.

I'm just thankful to be alive and well after a long recovery from a fall last year.  I'm walking about 30 minutes daily and doing yard work when it's needed.  Not bad for an 80 y.o. broad, IMHO!

Have a great day, Every One!
Sue
