Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Such happy pictures.  Don, you're not quite as tall as the person on stilts, but you gave it a good try!

Don and Bubble, a great set of photos.  Shame the need for all that security, but see they joined in.  Loved the pose of the little one in white in the last photo.

Radioman34

Jack the same thing about security crossed my mind as well. I have several pictures showing service personnel  with their families, fully armed. It's a shame that it has come to this.

angelface555

Lovely and interesting photos Don. I found myself both angered and charmed by them. The idea of killing or harming innocent people for some obscure ideal is unimaginable for me.

Lindancer

Don and Bubble just loved your very interesting pictures.  You both look great. also seem like you are having good weather.

Great show Don. Looks like a great day.  I remember a few years ago landing in Manchester Airport and seeing the soldiers armed in all parts of the A/P. Felt bad thinking UK needed that. But now I think that is what is needed. Better security no matter what it looks like. Israel seems to have one of the best.

Gloria

DON & BUBBLE   wonderful photos. Great that you can be there at this time, Don. Thank you for sharing.

Amy that was a beautiful production and yes the Golden looks like my Mimi.

JeanneP

Amy. That was a great show. I regret now years ago cancelling out on a trip to Tenneriff One of the Canary Island. Was a trip to a large Bird Sanctuary as I was a Parrot breeder back then and it is one of the largest. The week before we had to leave there was a bad Air Wreck. About 179 killed. Was bad weather and went into a Montain. Sort of turned the club of going. But then also there was a ban of Parrots been shipped into the USA.
And the trip was through a bird importer in Chicago . He was out of business then. Most his came from these Islands.

Carol

Bubble and Don:  Great pictures - Bubble, you have the sweetest smile.  It looks very safe in Israel!

Jack:  Goldens are so great.  We have great family stories about our Golden.  Sad day here as middle son had his dog put to sleep - Loki (Norse God of Mischief).

Gloria:  It was nice to see snow in the hills.  The Rocky Mountains are so low in snow depth that it could be a serious problem.

Callie:  Nice that everything is safe in your house once more.

jackwv

Carol I am hooked on Goldens, have had 4 over 40 years, all females.   Have had the experience 3 times, of having to put them to sleep.  Thought with Jessie, I would not repeat, but Mimi is a joy and hope we have a few years together.

At the bottom of Amy's link a couple of posts back ( http://www.thepastwhispers.com/Sentimental_Journey.html )  there are three more links. Give them a shot.  Some interesting and entertaining stuff.

Rammel, thanks for including the link to Amy's posts.  When I was a kid (still in grammar school, my Dad's grown up cousin would take my sisters and me to the local newsstand a little after noon on Saturday when she had her afternoon off.  She'd buy us a comic book each (had to be Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, or Archie) and a song lyric paper back.  We all sang in church choirs at a young age and we knew the lyrics and melodies to every song on the hit parade.  I still remember lots of them.

Here in Alabama on Saturday nights at 10:00 p.m. there is a program on our local public broadcasting station that plays 40's dance tunes.  Before I go to bed I turn on the program and dance by myself--and am so happy that I can do that!

Kind of silly, but still lots of fun!

FlaJean

Sue, do you remember Fred Astaire in “Royal Wedding” dancing with the hat rack?  I love that movie scene!

Hopefully this is the place to post this.  This tree is in front of my house and has grown quite a bit in recent years. This is during one of our latest Nor-Easters. Everything in sight had a similar coating of snow on it.  The snow makes for a beautiful sight, but there are still thousands of people without power.  We were lucky to have no outage here and only a few limbs fall from trees.  Pic taken with a Motorola Cell Phone at night.

Rammel...
...I have got one just like that, taken one day last week when "sunny" Dorset was literally covered in snow...They called it The Beast from the East meets Storm Emma...makes me marvel at how our trees survive...but they do, they are our wonders of the earth...

so_P_bubble

How lovely!  It looks like a blooming tree. I'd love to have the snow without the cold...

SCFSue

After 6 winters in Brunswick, Maine, with 2 little boys inside with 4-5 feet of snow covering everything and in the last winter another little boy and hubby away during the storms, I am not very fond of snow!  It's lovely to look at but a real b***h to shovel!  My husband was a Navy pilot and the squadron was frequently somewhere in Europe during the worst weather.

However, like most military wives we learned to suck it up and do what needed to be done!

Rick that is a beautiful photo, and it does look like it is in bloom.  Would like to see a photo of it when it is blooming.
We missed the snow the last few days, just a dusting.

angelface555

Rick, that is certainly a familiar sight here. In February, we had several rolling blackouts due to heavy snowfall and freezing rain.

Jean, I watched a young Fred Astaire last night on Youtube. He was the mystery guest for a nineteen fifties show of "What's My Line." that was on from 1951 through I believe 1975. It is re-shown on Youtube now and fascinates me. I watched Eleanore Roosevelt stump the panel, watched a youthful George Burns and Gracie and a very young Betty White. While I remember seeing the show, I didn't remember the particulars.

RAMMEL

The tree is a Red Maple and it does not bloom/flower. It just sits there looking good :)  I used to shape it and prune it to keep it small but when it got over 5' I gave up. Now I let it go and only cut what grows out over the street. This tree started from seedlings that I pilfered from the cemetery where our family plot is.

Rick thanks, I should have said - when the leaves come out.  The Red Maple is beautiful and does not need flowers.

FlaJean

Rammel, that is certainly a pretty tree, especially covered with the snow.  We have mostly the Japanese Maple trees here.  The leaves also are red but don’t grow so big as Red Maples.

5 year old great grandson loves those cars.

Vanilla-Jackie

FlaJean...
...firstly I have got to say, just how much he looks like you...comparing his photo with your avatar photo...
I can see from his stance and his expression, that that car is going to be his one day...

Lindancer

Rammel, I Like your picture, I know what you mean about covered trees during storm. I just sent a couple of photos to Patricia to post for me. She and Bubble are both big helps to me, cause I have no idea what I am doing.

Jean, love the picture of your g. grand. Boy! that is really a bright red

Jack , FlaJean - I have a feeling that at least in general Red Maple and Japanese Maple are the same thing. However, I'm no expert in these matters  :)   There are some around here with a more lacy leaf.  I'll dig out a pic I took in the fall before the leaves dropped.  It now blots out the house across the street as seen from our front door.

Lindancer - I'm waiting to see the pic's you sent to Pat.  This last couple of weeks have been rough on our trees. Looks like the storms have singled us out recently. Bet Jack doesn't miss the snow and wind.

I told Gloria that her photos reminded me of early February here when we had tons of fresh snow between bouts of frozen rain

This is a view of her house from the road. These were taken during the recent nor'easter.
