Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Ha ha ha, both having great fun, aren't you?

Vanilla-Jackie

Don - Bubble...
...so come on, are you going to tell us which boat is yours...
" There is no present like the time "

jackwv

Don that looks like a good day, sorry Bubble was unable to join you.   That fish sandwich looks great.

FlaJean

Fish looks so good.  Don, Enjoying your photos so much.

Mary Ann

Don, I would love to have had some of that fish, it looked delicious.  The only time I can have it is if we eat out because neither of us knows how to cook fish and Tom does all of the cooking now.  Not only that, Tom does not like fish.

Don thank you so much for these and the other wonderful photos you've posted here! You are a great tour guide and Israel advocate!

Shirley

Fantastic photos, Don..... wondering what flavoring on the fish, sure looks good & bet nice & fresh, too!  "Hi" to Illy, she looks like a fun tour guide!

jackwv

Well you all know I do not travel, but with Mimi and spring I have scenes like this.  The backdrop is a display at the park from the Festival of Lights.  Took this from the car and Mimi did not even bark at the deer.

What a peaceful sight, Jack..... interesting contrast of lights & deer.  Looks like the wild life doesn't have a problem with progress. 8)

Had a little sleet or something frozen while ago, melted where the ground was warm but signs of it in the shade.  Talk like more later on, sometimes "they" kind of exaggerate the chances of exciting weather.

I would have loved to admire those deer in such a beautiful setting.  You are really lucky Jack...

The outings have been rather limited lately because Bubble has been laid low; the culmination of a debilitating cold which has curtailed our intentions to share our time together with you. For now I’ll try to fill the gap as best I can with my own lonely excursions. Netanya, and I suppose the rest of Israel is experiencing a building boom, mostly high rise, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. A case in point is this photo taken at the entrance to where we live. At this time last year if I took a photo from the same location I would have an unobstructed view of the sea.
[attachimg=1]
It is noteworthy that there is not one house on our street; it’s all high rise apartments. That structure I just illustrated is right beside a house I have shown you before, the one with all of the ceramic adornments.  It too is the only house on the street. That house has a special attraction to me, so bear with me as I show it to you again.

Bubble and Don, I have no problem with high rise buildings in my small town.  Even when I lived in Pittsburgh most of the large buildings were down town.   Love that building you posted, shame it does not have more neighbors that size.

Bubble, take care and hope you have a quick recovery.

Shirley

Sorry you are not up to par, Bubble.... do hope you get better fast.  That "bug" sounds like what has hit a lot of folks here & seems to drag on forever... just as they start feeling better it hits again.

Don, that is a fascinating building but I can't remember the history you told us before... the reason for the ceramics.  I notice the fence or gate in the foreground is also very decorative.  I guess the only way to house all the people that want to live in Israel is to build the high rises.... the fight over the land has gone on all through history.  Such an important part of the world, for sure sacred land to most.  I am loving every photo you post and envy you the visit.

Jack, those deer sure look well fed, no babies yet?  The jonquils and the flowering trees that are in full bloom look pitiful this morning, we had a super hard freeze with some ice/sleet & snow overnight.  Think I saw the "chill index" was about 2 degrees.  Not sure if the fruit trees were in bloom but could be a year of no local apples & peaches.

JeanneP

Seem like they are building on every piece ofland that is vacant now. Just hope the don't do like here in U.s and ruin all the good views. Now do the build many single family homes anywhere or just high rises. Do they buy those or just lease ?

Hope you get well soon Bubble. Is Don a good nurse? Doesn't get lost out on his own?not the same without you with him.
JeanneP

Amy

Don, thank you for sharing the lovely photos. The fish looked so tasty, that would be a meal all on its own
!
Bubble, hope you feel better and soon.

Jack, loved the photos of the deer!

FlaJean

Sure hope Bubble feels better soon.  Enjoying the photos, Don.
Jack, that is a lovely scene with all the deer.

Below is a photo of an unusual tree a few blocks from us.  I've never scene one quite like it.

Vanilla-Jackie

FlaJean...
...yes very unusual....Just hovered my curser over it and right clicked a google search...came up with the name of " Mock Orange Philadelphus.."
" There is no present like the time "

so_P_bubble

I wonder if Mock Orange has the same heady smell of orange blossoms.

jackwv

Jean that is an unusual and attractive tree.  We are having another run of cold weather so spring slow coming.

angelface555

Don, as usual, your photographs allow us a small way to feel included on your trip and a chance to see an everyday slice of another culture. Thank you!

Jack terrific photo of the deer with the technical light show!

Jean, I love the photo of the tree! We have an ornamental tree that looks similar but is some type of lilac. I'm not quite sure just where our tree comes from, it's only been around the past twenty years or so.

Joy

Jean, very pretty and certainly, an unusual tree.

BIG BOX

FlaJean

Jackie, what a good idea, I never thought of doing that.  Took the photo from the car.  If we go by it when it still is blooming, I’ll have to smell the blooms to see if they smell like orange blossoms.

JeanneP

I have seen some of those trees I think around this town. If the same they are really messy. Bloom for a short time and then all the blossoms come down and all over the ground.
Jean. go bye after awhile and see if it blooms like that for a long time. It is pretty though when first blooms

Within a radius of about 50 yards  from where we live there are no less than four synagogues.
And every Friday you will see the faithful as they throng to their places of worship. Across the street from us a rabbi travels from Jerusalem every weekend to stay with his mother and also preside at the services of his particular synagogue. I have tried a few times to meet up with him but with no success, so the next best thing is to get a photo of him as he heads to his services.  The headgear he is wearing is called a shtreimel and is worn by orthodox Ashkenazi males who are married.

Interesting photos, Don, to me it looks like he is a concerned listener then leaves the man with a smile.... I went to public schools for 12 years but only basic religion taught of all religions so "the door is open" today and your trips explain and show so much more.  My thanks for sharing your pleasure and wonder of this world.

JeanneP

Don. For a minute I thought that was you. Never seen them wearing that head piece before. Wonder what holds it down.
JeanneP

angelface555

Thank you for bringing Israel to us in these photos Don!

Shirley

I remember my mother talking about a "mock orange" in our yard but it wasn't as striking as your photo, Jean... so I have been Googling and do think it is what we had "back then".  They are gorgeous & you have brought up another of the old favorites that I forgot about!  Mom had the Rose of Sharon, mock orange, "snowball bush".... now that one was spectacular... and the old fashioned stand bys that took care of themselves.

I have a start of forsythia from the first place we lived in Wichita, a small plant of the flowering almond taken from the first house we owned in MO... wisteria from my parents next door neighbor, tiger lilies from my best friend the last 45-50 years, and the jonquils are from my mother.  The surprise lilies in the berm came from my mother, and if anything blooms this year I will take photos. The mini jonquils were blooming like crazy when the freeze hit and I had not gotten out with a camera... bad me...  :'(

We have another freezing night and to warm up tomorrow & summer Wed & Thursday (in the 80s).  Thanks for the photos, everyone, I will try to do my part soon.
