Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Patricia, please keep it in Alaska.  There's still too much to do outside!

Patricia, your photo makes it clear someone was not pleased.

angelface555

Thanks, but the irony in that photo was that we had received at least three severe weather notices saying to expect heavy wind gusts, drifting snow and at least four to six inches in the foothills, lower passes and the valley over a three day period. Since Halloween is when it habitually snows here, we prepared.

That bare dusting, not even covering the grass was the result. In the seven days since, that has been it.

Patricia, hardly what I expected of Alaska's blizzards!!!  :2funny:   We are expecting "flurries" tonight but that's usually when we get a dose of ice mixed with those flurries & wrecks in every block.  Especially when we haven't had a good rain earlier to wash the oil off the streets from a dry season.  Can really get slick from the oils.  I will have to dig out a photo of old LaurenKat to show you how much she looks like your baby, even to the glare in her eyes.

I had hoped to go to MO before our family holiday, but running out of time between elections & this cold snap.  Got the RV winterized but still waiting to close the pool after the trees quit dumping their leaves.  Hate to close them under when they are falling faster than the pool man can get the cover secured.  Bought a new one this year & have paid for installation so not sure how this works.  They install screws into the concrete (something my husband tried one year & failed to keep leaves out, plus when we uncovered, all the "gunk" on top fell into the pool.)  This one was quite pricey so better work or I'll sit right in the middle of the pool pad & cry!   I've picked up 4 BIG bags of leaves & filled the dumpster with more (limit of 4 bags or bundles besides the dumpster), so I'm ready for a nap as soon as I grab a bite of lunch.

Today was a BUSY day at good old Wally World!  I got two of the worst registers in the store and then I went looking for some things that I need and couldn't find any of them.

The GOOD news is the sun came out today and so did the tree guys and they not only finished the trees and cut and stacked the wood for me to sell, they cleaned out my rain gutter and down spouts.  So I have to count today a good day in spite of the registers and not finding what I need.

Tomorrow is another day and hopefully, the electrician will show up.  I can't even call him because I don't know who he is.  My son decided he's going to pay this part of the job and he's bringing a guy that does electrical work for his store.  So I just have to wait it out.  Hopefully, the insulation will be done next week.

My plan for tonight is to do absolutey NOTHING!  After I feed the dogs and myself, I'm going vegetate.  Might try to watch a christmas movie but if it doesn't happen, so be it.

I hope you all had a good day and things like pool covers and dust bunnys and naps and lunches and whatever got done.  I might have had a busy register but I had nice people through my line. And that's what counts.

Lovely poinsettia.
I had it as a tree in the garden, it was very colorful too.  That is when I learned that the red bracts are colored leaves and not petals of the flowers. The flowers are the tiny yellow ones in the center.

Beautiful views, BUBBLE, but you've piqued my curiosity.  Why would you ask Jackie if she recognizes them?  Are they from England?

Bravo Vanilla!
No, no more travels for me but my son lives in London and he sent me those to show me how the town has changed since I was there.

Joy

Isn't that just great !!!   A friend in Israel, has a son who lives in London and can share pictures with this friend in Israel !   The Internet can let us all travel all over the world without ever leaving our homes.   Just so amazing !!!!!

Thanks,  Bubble and Jackie for the interesting pictures and Jackie's  identities  !

Joy, it is a small world. Years ago I need help with a project I was doing in Homemakers.  I asked a question, and Bubble was the only one to answer me.

another story you did  not ask for, when i went to london many years ago on a tour. I plan to meet my pen pal of 50 years in the Kensington Hotel.  When we got there they changed our hotel to the Kensington Close. I was told they would let my correspondent know where I was.  Of course they did not, so I never got to meet Joyce in person. That was before every one carried a phone

Jackie, she was from Bedford

Lovely photo, Sato!

Bubble, your son took some great photos of the Thames and surroundings!

Gloria, speaking of a small world, when I first met Bubble, she encouraged me to meet a friend of her's living in Fairbanks. Of course, it was Karren who posted here at first in Fairbanks, then later in New Jersey. I miss talking to Karren and Monte!

Since many mentioned members from long ago, I thought you would maybe remember this -

I don't know who did the montage. It is not signed

Patricia, I have posted to Karrn many times, She seem like a lovely person.  Do you know I still think about her and our friend who lived on the upper east side of NYC. I am embarrassed to say I can't recall her name and we use to email. Of course I can't say it is old age.  ::)

Jackie  , I started writing to her when I was 12, Somewhere I still have her old address. Her name last name was Cooper. She passed away about 10 years ago. Her husband then ask  if he could still keep on corresponding

Gloria, it struck me at the time that a new friend in Israel initiated contact and then a meeting between me and someone who lived in my town here. Karren, Monte and I had a few lunches, and outdoor market visits as well as venturing to the fair together but too soon moved outside. We had a lot in common including PSP.

Mary Ann

Bubble, so many familiar names and so many no longer with us.  I know I had forgotten about several of the people listed.

Mary Ann

I agree and vaguely remember that being posted, wasn't it from a Texas poster? So many gone, I agree with MaryAnn. Thank you Bubble for posting this!

Patricia,  thanks for mentioning Karren.  I had kept in touch with her after they moved to New Jersey.  She was so sick for a long time.  We had several  things in common.  She really seemed like such a nice person.

Did you work with her at the place where they made the wooden bowls???  I know you were friends.

There are a lot of old friends that I do miss their postings.

Bubble, so many familiar names on that montage.  I am listed on there as "Lady Beejay".   When this new forum started up,  I signed in with my real name.

Can never forget Gladys,  Scotty Dog, P. Roe,  Fairwinds, Papa John and Norm's fun postings,   Biscuit,  Joan Limotta, who I think went as "Northern Joan",  Alice Wyatt, who I kept in touch with, Oscar,  just to name a few who were very faithful posters.

I think I started coming onto the original site not too long after it started.  I first only posted in the Fibromyalgia board, as I had a friend who had that and I wanted to find out some information for her.  The moderator for that board was Sylvia Tribe,, and we got to be such good friends.  Even tho I didn't have Fibro, she kept encouraging me to keep coming back. We got to be really good friends.  She passed away several years ago and I still miss being in touch with her.  Another poster in that group was Bobbie Gould.  She is the one who traveled with her dog.  She doesn't post here anymore, but her daughter just posted her new phone number on FB  and I must give her a call.  She hasn't been real well.  I know she still keeps in touch with a few old members.

That was back  when a lot of the states had their own forum.  Pat Howe and I had started the forum for Maryland.

Does anybody remember when the original Senior and Friends got started ?  I do remember that I had seen  an article about it in the Sunday magazine section of the Sunday paper.

Bobbie and her dog stopped at my house on one of her trips.  She spent the night and about half the next day.  I have a picture somewhere of her dog and mine nestling together in my living room.

I also saw that magazine article and mentioned it to my kids that I was thinking of trying to find the group.  My daughter answered, "Don't you need a modem for that?'  I said, "What's a modem?'  That Christmas, I found out.  My CPU disappeared and came back ready for the internet.  About a month later, I found Senior Net.  And I've been addicted ever since..  I think Rae was in that article.

What memories I have!  And how I cherish them!!!

Forgot to say, I thought that looked like St. Paul's Cathedral in one of the pictures but I thought I must be mistaken because why would BUBBLe be posting that!

Jane, do you remember what year that was?   I think I have probably been around just about as long as you have.

Lots of water over the dam in that amount of time.  LOL
