Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

We have moose like that here Jack. They say we have a residential population of about 200  moose. With all the trees, waters and brush, you can often walk right past one.

I wouldn't get too close however as you don't know where they've been or if someone has harassed them. They the moose,  may look tame, and people get used to having them around, but they are not tame.

And yes, they aren't dumb either. During hunting season, there is nary a one to be found. They are back immediately afterwards.

Patricia, I usually keep my distance, but the young whitetail deer are much smaller then your moose, and elk I have seen in Pennsylvania.  Seldom see the bucks close to people just the young does.

Near my home, there is Susano Shrine founded in the seventh century.
On July 16, 17, I spent time for the festival of Susano Shrine busily.

Shirley, Linedancer,
thank you very much for your comments. Thanks to your comments become slow, and I'm sorry. It is happiness that we can eat fresh vegetables. My husband is busy with the care of vegetables.

Sachiko3

Linedancer, that picture of your grandmother is really wonderful! I wish I wear such a dress, too.

Sachiko3

Jack, in such near deer, you were able to take the photo! Jessie is like the model.

Sandy, your grandchild "Fi" is very pretty! Her Mommy and Daddy look happy, too.

Sandy,  little "Fi" is really getting big.  She is so cute.  Nice family picture.

Near my home, there is Susano Shrine founded in the 7th century.
On July 16, 17, it was the festival of Susano Shrine...

In the way in front of my home with a little pedestrian traffic, but many people always came and went.
Girls who went and worshiped at the Susano Shrine had many girls who wore their kimono. These seem to increase year by year.

Sachiko3

I'm sorry! Kimono is a Japanese dress.

jackwv

Sandy, Fi is a beaut and no wonder her parents have such big smiles.

Sachiko it is so nice to see so many in the traditional dress.

Mary Ann

Sachiko, I like to see the young girls in their kimonos too.  It is a very nice custom.

Sachiko, very nice photos, very crisp. I Googled the shrine and it  has had a very interesting history and interesting artifacts. Thank you.

Sandy, what a lovely family.  They look so happy.

Sachiko, it is so nice to see the young girls in kimonos.  Many people attended the festival.

Lindancer

Good afternoon on another very hot day.

Sandy, beautiful fanily

Sachiko, those kimonos look lovely. Your country has so many customs and wonderful places to visit.  I wish I could have made a trip there.  I have been to so many places, but not the far East.

Marilyn, I never noticed the bracelets before. No I do not know the date of the picture.  She was 63 when she died, in the 30's.  Her father also owned a livery stable, and I had heard she rode sidesattle all over town.

Jack, it looks like Jesse is saying: What do you want to do now :)

Good morning!

Jack, Mary Ann, angelface, Jean, Lindancer, thank you very much for your comments.
The summer kimono (yukata) is usually made of cotton. But in late years there seem to be many kimonos of the chemical fiber that washing is easy.

angelface, the history of Susano Shrine is old and has many legends.

This is Susao Shrine this morning.

angelface555

Sachiko, I found this information about the shrine and it has a martial/ religious background according to this article.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isonokami_Shrine

The site is lovely and ancient compared to my town which was founded in 1903.
You take such interesting, crisp photos!

Sandy

Thank you everyone for your
nice comments on my picture of "Fe"  and her
family.

It has been a very long time (14 + years)
since there has been a baby in my family,  and
I suspect that it will be many more before
the next one comes along.

Having a new baby in the  family seems
to change the way we all relate to one another.
All of my Grand kids are now in their
teens and twenties....   and then all of
a sudden there is this precious baby that
everyone wants to be a part of....
New bonds are developing all around us!

Two and a half days of heavy, steady rain, and we are under a weather watch for the river runoff, uprooted trees, brush, etc. to come through the valley of the five rivers, primarily the Yukon and the Tanana rivers. I wish I could send all of this down to you folks needing rain. Do you want it? We got it!

Farrah isn't taking too kindly to the new stark regime. She just came over to my computer chair, rose up and placed her front legs on my thigh and cried loudly and somewhat hysterically, "WIN!!"and that's my day....At least she isn't  afraid of me!       ;D

And how was your day?

Shirley

Gloria, great photo of your gr-mother.  I have one of my gr-mother that Dad said he thought she was about 17, the photo was already fading when I scanned it, but still in pretty good shape.  My gr-mother was born in 1871 and I was about 32 when she died (she was 96 when she died) in 1967, so I remember her well.

Jack, what neat shots of the deer!  How did you focus so fast?  Sharp pics with lots of unusual detail.  Yep, Lady Jessie looks just right under that arch... just needs a throne to sit on!

Sandy, can't believe that baby has grown so fast.... seems like "just the other day" when she was born.  Good looking family.  Funny how our kids are sure they "invented" babies & have the smartest ever born... and WE thought the same when they came along, right?

Sachiko, such interesting places you show us, and it is heart warming to see the new generation of people proudly wearing the dress of their ancestors.  Glad you are feeling well enough to get out and about again.

Patricia, thanks for the link, love checking out the cams in Alaska but had lost all of the links when computers got switched Win 7 & then 10.  I bookmarked this one.... still light enough to see at 11:00 pm MY time.

Cats have all had their "midnight" snack, Lauren the only one that stayed in tonight... still about 95 at this time so very muggy.  The cats prefer the heat to the AC so I don't make them stay in after their snacks.  Miss Callie would stay in that hot garage all night but I've been coaxing her to go on out where she can at least get some fresh air.  During the day I leave one of the doors open enough that she can go in & out but not when it is getting near dark.... don't want any more opossum visiting & living in the garage like we found the one time.  Good night, all.............

Sachiko3

angelface, thank you very much for the words that you praise me.
But I did not know Isonokami_Shrine. Ise Grand Shrine was famous at the Japanese oldest major shrine, but I did not know Isonokami_Shrine. It seems to be old almost as same as Ise Grand Shrine. Isonokami_Shrine is not so famous in Japan. But you told me. Thank you for good information.
The Shinto shrine which is the most famous in Japan is Ise Grand Shrine.

Sachiko3

Shirley, I thank you for your consideration to me. I became quite fine.
This morning, I met the girls though they attended school on those bicycles lively.

Sandy

I just wanted to mention that
Madison (who is my number one grand child (age22)
has taken to motherhood better then I ever
could imagine.      Temporarily they are all living
with Kelly (Kelly has a home and a beautiful pool home
right next to it)  so there is a lot of room for
everyone.

The new parents are fortunate because there are
lots of loving arms around to care for this new baby.
Madison can be a "stay at  home Mom" as well as
chief cook and bottle washer for their whole crew!

She is doing a great job, and I am very proud
of her.

Shirley, I was 12 when my grandmother died. I can remember somthings. She had long hair, and I use to brush it. I also had to dust the furniture on Sat.. The dinning room table had feet.  She would check with a hair pin, when I finished. We lived with her.  A little cooler to day, but have to go out to get more bandages for my leg, that I hurt Friday.  Suppose to have stitches out next Monday.

Patricia, that is a beautiful scene.  Can you see that scene from your apartment or just the web cam?  The church in the background reminds me of the time we spent in the northeast.

Sachiko, thank you! I have always loved histories and believe they play a huge part in how we are today! Beautiful shrines and interesting format. I was struck with the rebuilding so as to always stay at once ancient and also new and that they used no nails.

It is also interesting that the Imperial family still plays a part even though not as through as in the past. In the Shinto religion, there are special pools to rinse your hands and mouth for symbolic purification. In the Episcopal religion, we rinse our fingers for the same reason in the font before using the stairs to the alter.

Shirley, if your email is the same as in your profile, I will send you a Google list of Alaska cams.

Jean, I am a half block to the right of Golden Heart Plaza, which is the closest of the river parks to me and I live on a higher floor so I can only see parts of the river's looping as well as the top of the carillon, situated in back, between the two red top trash cans. The carillon plays bell tones on the hour, a short tune on the half hour and on the quarter hour, a short medley of bell tones.

The church that you see is on the historical register and is now called "Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows,"  for the statue of Mary on the building's front. "The See of Fairbanks was established from the Prefecture Apostolic of Alaska on July 27, 1894, which was created from the Diocese of Vancouver Island. It was elevated to an apostolic vicariate on December 22, 1916. The Diocese of Juneau was carved out of the apostolic vicariate on June 23, 1951. On August 8, 1962, the apostolic vicariate was elevated to a diocese.

The first seven bishops of Fairbanks were missionaries of the Society of Jesus. On June 7, 2002, Pope John Paul II appointed Donald Joseph Kettler as the first non-Jesuit bishop of Fairbanks."

I just wish "that beautiful scene," was filled with sunshine!
