Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

halkel, phyllis, Jack, bubble, Beverly, Jean, JeanneP, Lindancer, angelface,
Thank you very much for your comments.
There are also a lot of olive green melons in Japan. But this melon is really delicious!

Marilyn

Bubble and Don what wonderful photos of both families. I enjoyed see all y'all having such a wonderful time.

Shirley

I thought I could remember the photos but had to pull up WordPad to take notes... y'all have been busy (& I'm listening to Hank singing, "Your Cheating Heart"... few of those old songs I heard enough to remember the words~).

Sachiko, those melons do look delicious!  We have variations of  canteloupe and my favorite looks just like that.  Beautiful photos!

Sandy, every time I scroll past your orchids I stop & admire the quality of the photo.  Great shot.

Beverly, I didn't know that vinca came in any color other than the soft lavender & white.  It grew under the deck in the house we had in Leawood (KC area) so was what we saw out the windows on the 4th level.  I tried growing it here in Wichita but it didn't take.   Yours is so pretty.  My vinca must have been ground cover, thick & green year around.  I wouldn't get under the deck for any reason, it was high enough that my husband enclosed one section & could park his riding mower under & had a door to close & lock.   I got a brown spider bite shortly after we move there & called every exterminator in KC & was told "nothing guaranteed getting rid of spiders".... so I was always on guard where spiders could hide.  The vinca spread all over that section of ground so my husband just "mowed into it" to keep it under control.

Patricia, just think of the phone as another camera.... but I don't understand manuals so still can't get the photos off except by e-mailing them.... and then I have to have someone reminding me the process.  Mine will use an SD card but I never checked the manual how to install one.... no slot like the computers & cameras, think I have to take the back off & too much trouble.  I am determined to put in all the phone numbers so I can text.... can't remember how my son showed me & embarrassed to ask again.

Sandy

Thanks Shirley   (et al)  !

I am just beginning to start to use the camera
on my new smart phone....   I have a lot to learn
about it,  but I think that I am going to be
very satisfied with the quality of pictures that
I can take with it.       But I still have
a whole lot to learn .

I hesitate to put this in because the area is looking pretty ragged and unkempt, (I'll blame it on not working outside in the heat  :) ) but this is my vinca. It's getting very "leggy" and drying up. It needs to be cut back. Earlier this summer it was lush and full of blooms.

Mary Ann - I'll bet you can find hanging plants of it in the Spring. It's very easy to take care of. Once a week watering should do it........  Not to be confused with impatiens, which are quite delicate and not fond of sun. The blooms do resemble each other.

MaryTX

Beverly, my periwinkles or vinca as it's also sometimes called grows like this all the time.  I never cut it back.  I have a variegated pink/white, blue and solid pink

Mary.

Does that Plant spread a lot.  I have seen them in Hanging planters and they seem to have to cut them back a lot.. That red and green looks so nice against you white siding.

MaryTX - It's the only flower I can keep alive in the summer.  :) I've tried marigolds, etc. but the sandy soil dries out so fast.

I see you live in Texas. I was a "neighbor" for 7 years and lived near Tulsa, OK. Traveled to your area near Dallas a lot with my husband for his work.

Jeanne P. - In a planter they will grow down over the planter's side.

MaryTX

Jeanne, I guess they do spread as when they are planted, they are small.  I made the mistake of planting them too close together one time and ended up with a mass of flowers.  They did look pretty. Since I can't bend over anymore, my daughter plants one of each color in the front bed.  My gardening now is reduced to planters on the patio. I did have periwinkles in a hanging basket one time and did have to keep them trimmed as we kept hitting our heads,

Beverly, I was a "closer neighbor" to you as we're from Sulphur, OK (south central) :).  The kids lived here in Arlington so we moved down here in 2000 when Claude had a stroke.

What a great smile.   Beautiful.

Shirley

Fi is just darling, Sandy..... and I remember photos of you long ago.... she does look like you, don't you think?  Have you pulled out any of your baby photos to compare?

Beverly, I had no idea vinca could look like that.  For sure mine was ground cover, it never got that tall.  I did a Google & so many different types, found some that the leaves looked like mine, was a long time ago, about 30 years.   ::)  Pretty red you have.

Vanilla-Jackie

SANDY.....
.....not sure she would appreciate being called a " roly-poly..... ;D
but she sure is a happy one, bless her little heart...

That is one happy little girl!

so_P_bubble

That is a huggable, kissable  Fi!  :)

jackwv

Am sure Fi brings a smile to all of our faces.  Great photo.

Mary Ann

Sandy, as someone else said, "what a smile".  She's a little darling.  My now 7-month old 2xgreat niece is a good smiler too.  They're so cute at those ages.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Sandy, she is such a cutie.

Sandy

Thank you all so much!

It has been many many years since we had
a baby in the family..  over 13!

I think that she does resemble my side of the
family,   but of course,  she is at the age when
looks really begin to change rapidly.

There is nothing like having a baby in the home to
make people smile and start to communicate
with one another, again ..

All is well here and Autumn is on the way.

Beverly, that is you in the yellow, isnt it? who is the lady in the blue, I am assuming that is Norm Tocks lady wife, or is that MaryAnn?.....Of course I immediately recognise both Norm and our Pat...what a lovely warming photograph of a place in happier times...sadly there is now one place missing, but he is very much close, in everyone's hearts....

What a shock to see that picture.  I remember Pat and Paul visiting Norm and Dot but I don't remember the picture being taken.  I am sure it is a picture taken by Paul.  It was a good visit and I'm glad N&D had me up to their place to visit too.

Now you can see how short I am, compared to others!

Tom and I are going to be with Dot in a little while and we will have barbecued pulled pork to eat.

Thanks for posting that picture.

Mary Ann - Hoped you would like it!  At 5' 2" I'm usually the shortest one in the group. I used to be nearly 5' 4". (Love these golden years!)

Jackie - Not me! I've never been blonde.  :) Dot Tock is such a nice lady. Unfortunately, I've never met Mary Ann but I've met the others several times. Lovely people!
