Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Mary Ann, your parents must have been so grief stricken to lose a baby that way.  My sister had a breach baby but think it was when her husband was stationed at the Marine base in NC (or SC?).  I was in England at the time.  The baby survived with no problems, but I don't think the cord was around his neck.  My baby was as blue as your print when I first saw him..... but the reason the doctor said he might have so many problems was the ward nurse took him out of the Isolette to feed him & he nearly died.  The head nurse assigned to him after that (he was in for 10 days)..... died only a couple years ago, she was the wife of my brother's friend.  I wished I had looked her up to tell her he had no lasting effects of the oxygen.  Funny how vivid memories are that we hadn't thought about for years.

Shirley, my late mother was a breach birth baby...and was Grans only child...

Mary Ann

Shirley, I was four at the time and never knew about it until I was 12.  I know I was taken across the street at the time, but I also was taken there for Norm's birth the next year.  I have no recollection of going there twice and I do remember when Norm was born.  I was taken to the bedroom and this baby was lying in a bassinet and Dad said, "this is your baby brother".  I said it was not, it was Tommy Van Wingen, who had been born four months earlier and whose birth I knew about.  My folks did not talk about pregnancies when I was that small and as my mother was "pleasantly plump" (her words), I didn't suspect anything as she grew larger.  Nowadays kids know everything but whether or not they remember, I don't know.  And who knows, if that baby had lived, would Norm have been born.  I imagine he would have because Dad wanted a boy - and got one with Norm.

The sun is shining brightly and it's going to be a nice day!  35 degrees to start.

My mother explained to me when I was around 3 or 4 that babies grow in momie's tummies.  My girl friend had been told she was found under a cabbage leaf so I explained the facts of life to her.  Her mother was angry with my mother, but then only a few months later my girl friend informed my family that "My mother must be going to have a baby.  She's getting fat and lazy."  (Her brother was born on our very first day at school.)

Jeanne Lee, fortunately, I was not told I was born under a cabbage leaf, nor did the stork bring me.  I just was told nothing.  Which, I think, is better than untruths.  I had good parents, it's just the way things were when I was that young.

All that I remember was in the fifth grade
"the girls" got the book
"Your A Young Woman Now"
which explained our "monthly's" ...
(along with a few other things.)

I took the book home and was reading it
to my blushing Mother,   and decided to
ask her a question that I was unsure of.

You betcha,  it was the "fertilization" question
that I was unsure of...

"Mommy,  how does the egg get "fertilized"?  ...

At which point,  she turned around three times
in the middle of the room and ran out the door.

I learned right then and there,
never to ask her another question
about "Your A Young Woman Now" ...

Such is life,   back before the Earth Cooled!!!

Sandy, we can look back now and laugh, or at least smile.  It was a long time before I found how "fertilization" took place.  I really don't remember how I learned, but it was not from my parents.

How did we ever get started on this topic in a Photo folder?!

I just have to add, my mother told me she found me in a car, in the junk yard on R.R.Ave. That was across from where they lived when I was born. ::)

Bubble, he is getting to be quite a boy.

Haha, well, we didn't talk about anything personal growing up & I didn't explain to my daughter..... I guess I learned from having a female dog that wasn't spayed (and probably why we had her).  When my oldest son was about 2 years old he had noticed a neighbor wearing jackets or shirts with big pockets (remember when we covered up?)... and while sitting in the cart seat at the store, said loudly "that lady has BIG pockets!" with admiration...  She looked ready to deliver & I had not even noticed to side track him.  He had never talked loud before, when we were out & no baby talk.... I wanted to put a sack over my head but just smiled at the lady.

Cute photos of that darling boy, Bubble.  Are you & Don having fun times with him?  I think my great gr-son is same age & in school.... but he now has 2 little sisters.  They grow up so fast.

Happy Valentine Day to all~

Speaking of Valentine Day,  Bubble has never had a Valentine gift in her life---until today.

Kids know more about Sex now at 7 than I knew at 17.  Was never mentioned . Had 3 brothers. One Older and two younger. Mom seemed to get pregnant every 4 year. They wore outfits that were so loose I didnt notice her getting heavy. I was 10 on her last one (He died at 2.9 months). Still sent to my grandmother around the corner when she was ready to deliver.  I was never allowed to see the boys naked or taking a bath . They never saw me. Never saw my mother or father either until mum was maybe 76   years old. Father always with a suit on.
I was 17 when I know about the month thing for me.  Did know by that time. My mother was 19.

Gosh, just noticed what forum we are in.  better get out.

My girls were both 10 years old and already knew it all.

Don.  Looks like you both remembered it is Valentine day. See you are having a nice one.  Love the flowers.  Bubble. Looking much better now.  You getting there helped a lot.  Great First Valentine for her.

Did the LIttle Fella celebrate Valentine  Day along with you?

GloriaD - Taffy has a great view of the yard! The story your mother told you about your birth sure was an original!  :)

Jack - Lovely place to walk and no snow?? I'm surprised it missed you.

Ray - Nice photo........looking very handsome!

Bubble - Love those pictures of your grandson with the superheroes. He's really getting into the Superman mood! I have a great-grandson about the same age who thinks he's Batman.  :)

Mary Ann - Two of my girls were breech births, one in '59 and one in '66. I can't imagine what it was like for your mother having a home birth in 1928. So sad... Your reaction to seeing Norm in the bassinet was priceless! I had to read it to Chape.  :)

Jackie - I'm not surprised your grandmother had only one child!

Loved reading the stories all of you were told about babies.

Sandy - Thank you. All of mine would like to spend winters where it's warm, but I'll be surprised if it happens.

Shirley - Thank you for the nice comments about my son.  I wish your daughter a happy  retirement. Michael had a plan in place before he retired. He bought an apartment house and has kept busy remodeling and repairing. He's sort of a "jack-of-all-trades" and has also been working on an older house his nephew bought. Plus he still has some finish work to do on his own house.

Great pictures, Don It's about time Bubble received a Valentine gift! Cheery looking flowers.

Mary Ann

Don, there's always a first time for everything.  It's good to see pictures of such happy people.

Don and Bubble, lovely photos.

I had 6 sisters and 3 brothers, was 4th in line.  Do not recall being aware of my Mom expecting.

Now speaking of new beginnings ( :)))  Was at the park today and spotted tulips coming up (two months early)  They should survive more winter and that spot will look like the second photo.   Hurry Spring.

angelface555

Good morning, Ray, such a lovely photo! I'm waiting to see the one of you and Estelle.

Jack, Mimi and you are a good fit! Looking out at all the white snow and skies here, it's good to know someone is having signs of Spring!

Bubble, Aviv is such a boy! I can just see him saying GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! in his mind!  :smitten:  Happy Valentine's Day!

Bev, I've commented before on your handsome son, and he sounds like he is just where he wants to be!

My mother was also a blusher and preferred giving me books. So, when the time came I told my daughter basic facts and she, in turn, taught her class which caused a note home from her school!  ;D

Gloria, I love Taffy's photo!

Good Afternoon everyone!
Strange about knowing about how life was created and where babies came from.

I was raised on a farm and I cant remember when I didn't know how babies were made and how they got here.  Of course by that I don't mean that the men and women weren't modest, because they were.  Except on cold mornings when everyone grabbed their clothes and run to the where the fire was to put them on.......

Beverly

Jack - Tulips are fairly hardy but this IS early. Hope they make it till Spring.

Vanilla-Jackie

DON...
...just happy you made Bubbles day... :)

Bubble, I see Aviv is looking up to his idols...

JACK WV...

Jeanne, too late for me to learn, just remember the good times :)   If you start the topic, better not permit photos. :D :D

Oh! no. Last thing we need would be a Sex Forum.  People would really be joining S and F then.  Just have to read the Work Sex on the Internet and sites take off.

I would not be able to say a lot in the forum anyway. What little I knew I have forgotten.

I've read all the posts twice but first time a phone call got me off the computer before I could comment & just now I was thinking about the flowers Don gave Bubble (what kind are they, etc?).... and came to the last post of yours, JeanneP.... and stopped in my tracks to laugh out loud... "What little I knew I have forgotten"....  We are a wild bunch, huh???

Don, you are a romantic for sure.... & Bubble seems to appreciate (a little bribery goes a long way, right?)  Do you have a return flight, Don, or is time limited.... I don't know how it works, not being nosy (maybe I am?)

Beverly, that is a gorgeous grouping!  Guess I never thought about poinsettias being outside.  Kept looking & noticed the train on the wall & ship captain in the back ground... is that a well pump?  Thanks for showing us.

I keep telling myself to take a camera down to the river to show y'all what the beaver does during the night (I never catch it at work).  It munches off trees in the dry part of the river bed & leaves stubs about knee high with very sharp points.  New cuts about every day, but we've never located the den.  Do they eat the fresh cut wood or just repair their dens?  What do beaver eat.... guess that calls for a Google.

Jack, forgot to mention we are also seeing flowers about an inch out of the ground & afraid they will freeze yet, way too early.  Beautiful tulips, would be so nice to be able to stop & take photo, I used to ride my bike around the neighborhood & walk up driveways to look at their flowers, but usually they are too close to the houses & not comfortable to do that.  I'm eager to see what you will show us this year!

...see, look what you have started, digging up old memories... ;D

BEVERLY...
...that is a large Poinsettia, or is that the norm?... dont think I have ever come across one that is growing outside...we only see the small indoor basket arrangements that are put together at Christmas time...
