Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Bubble, this is what I came up with for a name and it is the seeds that scatter  that makes it  hard to contain.

Amy: additional info on the Korean Bell flower:

Edible Uses
Edible Parts: Flowers;  Leaves;  Root.
Edible Uses:

Leaves - raw or cooked[K]. A mild flavour with a subtle sweetness, especially in the spring and early summer they taste just like lettuce and are a pleasant addition to mixed salads[K]. In the height of summer, the leaves often develop a slightly bitter flavour, especially if the plant is growing in a sunny position[K]. Flowers - raw. Beautiful to look at, the flowers have a delicate sweetness and are a pleasant addition to salads[K]. Roots - raw, cooked or dried for later use. Known as 'do-ra-jee' in Korea, where they are eaten as a delicacy. The roots are a bit small and fiddly to utilize, though they are said to have a simply delicious flavour.

Did you know?  I wish I could find it as it is said it can be grown in container, but not known here :(
Maybe you can mail me some seeds? :)
This should be interesting in a salad

Amy

Bubble, that was interesting to read ,thank you. I have it all pulled now....I hope!!!

Pulled for the salad, Amy?    :D  I use nasturtium, tasty too.

Amy

I like nasturtiums in a salad, peppery tasting. Pansies and violets are also nice in a salad or I have decorated a cake with pansies too.

Ever tried carnations?
I like sugared violets for decoration

Amy

No, not yet :) I love carnations over roses, carnations last much longer and some do have a nice scent. I used to have a cyclamen that had a beautiful scent, a white one.

How interesting!  Were they all yellow?

jackwv

Bubble, at that time, all in our area were yellow.  Some cities had different colors.  We then had the red and white "streamliners" until Pittsburgh removed and replaced with bus and rapid transient.   Interesting story and photos from back then.

That was very informative, how the transport system evolved.
No tram lines here, just buses and lots and lots of private cars.  Traffic is getting terrible and parking in town is a nightmare.

Mary Ann

We have a bus system here but I don't know how or if it works because I no longer  have to take a bus to work.  There is one that comes out from downtown to Lowe's, near me.  It seems people in Michigan are so enamored of their cars that public transportation loses out.  For years I took the bus, which ran every five minutes in rush hour.  Many mornings I'd be running for the bus (two blocks from home) to find the driver waiting for me.  I got on before the end of the line, so he could do that.  Before we got downtown, there was standing room only morning and evening rush hours.  When I started working in 1942, bus fares were 12 tokens for $1.  Now fares are well over $1, maybe $1.25.

Them days is gone forever!

FWIW - Here's a trolley that I used to ride from time to time.  Somewhere I have a pic of one from a different line (route) that is bogged down from a snow storm.  If I can find it I will post it.  This was toward the end of trolleys here. They were replaced with busses.

Shirley

WOW!  Great photos from all, and I'll bet my family would swear I was on that vehicle with you, Bubble, they think I'm always taking everything but the kitchen sink & now it does go (in the RV).  Must have been a fantastic day, or days.....   That little tractor looks like it can do about anything.

I just gave my son a call to warn him he is driving right into the area a tornado is showing... on the ground.  He says his smart phone will notify him if one is near.  Weather is really wild here in KS today, had a thunderstorm just as he left my house with his camper  I talked to him just as he got out of town & he mentioned he went through a "flooded street" that has been a bad spot for as long as we have lived in Wichita (some 50 years).  You'd think the city would get it fixed by now, wouldn't you?  Didn't realize it rained that much in that spot, but he chose that route because ALL of the other exits from the city had major work being done on the streets, one lane traffic with delays.

I rode those street cars when living in Kansas City in 1953...  neat photos, I never had a camera at that time, thanks for the memories, Rick & Jack.
