Quote from: angelface555 on Today at 08:29:01 pmMichael, I'm sorry, we're communicating at cross-purposes. The photos and or graphics DO NOT SHOW at the correct size but they DO SHOW as tiny postage-sized images. I gave the post #3450 as an example of how it should look but does not.
Oh, OK. I'll look into what I can do to fix that without having to manually edit each of the posts. The way the forum handles inline attachments is different than how the old add-on handled them.
The forum software doesn't change the picture size or the file size. It only rejects them if they're over a certain size. I'm not sure what the issue is.
The "tiny graphics" are not shown because I have it set not to show them under the post if you've already embedded them in the post. If you want them to stay there even when they're embedded in the post I can change that setting.
Quote from: angelface555 on Today at 05:52:46 pmIf you take a look at the PSP forum you will see what I mean and it is the same with different photo posts.
I'll see if I can set it to stop inserting the full-sized images. It adds the scrollbars in the post to prevent large images from stretching out the entire page.
Quote from: jane on Today at 01:18:45 pmOldiesmann...some posters are saying they can't login. I tried to change the password for a woman who can't login, but it just spins and spins and never logs in.
If they don't remember their password they should be able to reset it. If not, let me know and I can reset it for them. The reason everyone is having to login again is due to increased security features that forces everything to be secure (even the "cookie" that remembers their login info). Once they get logged in as long as they choose "forever" for the time to remain logged in, they shouldn't have to login again.
I can disable the features if it's a huge deal but I'd prefer to keep things secure.
I am not sure why you're getting spammed with notification emails. I'll look into that when I get a chance.
What exactly is the issue with photos now? I can do my best to fix any issues.
Quote from: angelface555 on Today at 12:03:00 pmI am using Chrome, and I'm aware that others are highlighting the entire message for each type of code, each time, but that does seem unnecessary when before you just typed your message, highlighted and then clicked on your code.
Unfortunately that's how things work with the new editor at the moment. I'll do some digging and see if I can change that though.
Quote from: angelface555 on Today at 12:07:03 pmI was able to fix my time but I'm still attempting to find the last post in a forum. If you click Updated Topics, it takes you to the page but not to the last post. If you click Unread Posts it takes you to all the forums you do not read.
On the Updated Topics page, clicking the "New" icon will take you to the first unread post in that topic, while clicking on the date in the "Last Post" column will take you to the last post in that topic.
Quote from: angelface555 on Today at 11:43:12 amI had 22 S&F emails in my spam all directing me to a blank page. Since I do not use notifications, I'm assuming this is another error? Also when you try to code, using bold, italic, font and font size, it appears with the b in front and all other coding, open and closing, on the end. I have to put in the code instead of being able to use this editor's code setup for it to work.
Yes, the URLs in the notification emails is a known issue. I'm looking into that.
I'm not sure why you're having problems with the editor. It's working fine for me - if I select text and click a button it surrounds that text with the appropriate tags. What browser are you using?
Quote from: so_P_bubble on Today at 03:07:23 amLike Vanilla, mail notification is useless if it brings to the home page and not where it should.
The buttons just look different now because this version uses a different editor. The icon for images is directly to the right of the YouTube icon, and the link one is next to the one after that. You can hover over each icon to see what it's for.
Something is messing up the URLs in the notification emails... I'll look into that tomorrow when I get a chance (it's 3:15am here so I'm heading to bed). For now you can get to the post/message by removing the ";" in front of the first = sign in each of those first two links.
Quote from: Vanilla-Jackie on Today at 01:47:22 amWhen I click on email notification of a post it doesn't bring me into the post like it did previously but, it brings me into a blank page showing shoutbox plus menu above with welcome home to our S & F's banner..but no posts underneath just a blank that cant be scrolled down.........
What link is in the email? Is it just https://www.seniorsandfriends.org or is there more to it?
Quote from: angelface555 on Yesterday at 01:11:33 pmMichael, coding a post took me five tries as what I put in often disappeared or only partially worked in the finished post and had to be redone. Why is the add image to post shown in the message block and outside? It shouldn't be in the message block since it is shown below. I am also finding broken links.
I'm not sure why it's shown inside the box as well as outside. I don't think that's been fully updated for the new version of the forum yet.
Quote from: Marilyne on Yesterday at 02:28:50 pmMichael - what about the time? My time says November 16, 2018, 07:26:33 pm
You need to set the timezone in your profile. Click your name in the upper left corner, then click "Account Settings", choose the appropriate timezone and save it.
Quote from: CallieOK on Yesterday at 03:04:24 pmI hope we'll be able to access and save a link to a list of the Forums in which we've posted without having to hunt through the entire list.
Are you talking about topics or boards? There's currently no way to see a list of the topics in which you've posted, but it shouldn't be too hard to rig up a page to display that.
Quote from: jane on Yesterday at 05:35:18 pmWill there be a way to go to the first new post in a discussion in which we've posted as the older version had? I sure hope so.
Yes, that's exactly what the "Updated Topics" feature is.
Also note that the broken links are fixed now.
For those who haven't already heard, country music legend and guitar virtuoso Roy Clark died yesterday at the age of 85. https://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2018/11/15/roy-clark-dead-85/1978910002/
The URL problem seems to be affecting any topic with a quote or apostrophe in the title. I've contacted the developer of the URL rewriting thing about it and will fix things as soon as I can.
Quote from: Vanilla-Jackie on Yesterday at 11:31:11 amQuoting Bubble..." There is a problem with the link to
Thanks for the info. I'll look into both of those when I have a chance.
Also, the broken smileys have been fixed
Quote from: so_P_bubble on Yesterday at 04:03:23 amI have two questions:
I'm not sure about the first question. For the second one, if you want to attach it to a post, you'll have to do it from the full reply screen (not quick reply). Just expand the "Attachments and other options" section and drag the image to the appropriate spot. Then click the upload button and click the appropriate button to insert it into your post
Upgrade has been completed successfully
I am still tweaking a couple things so you might see something change, but if you run into any issues or have any questions, let me know.
Note that if the time is incorrect in the forum, click on your name in the upper left corner, then click on "Account Settings" and choose the appropriate timezone from the list.
Still planning on going through with the upgrade late tonight / early tomorrow morning (Thursday night / Friday morning). I'll let you know if that changes.
Heard this one at a country restaurant earlier today.
"Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" by George Jones and His Smoky Mountain Boys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PytG-uA_p6g
This was originally done by Roy Acuff and the Smoky Mountain Boys back in 1947 and has since been recorded by dozens of artists. This version was recorded in the early 70s but was unreleased until last year.
Current plan as of now is to do the upgrade late Thursday/early Friday (midnight or 1am eastern, 5/6am GMT). Still need to do a bit more testing of a couple things before I do the upgrade
For those who are curious, here's an idea of what things will look like after the upgrade. I'm still testing a few things to make sure everything will work properly first...
I did find something simple that should work for our needs, but I'll need to play with it a bit more to make sure
Just a heads up to everyone, I will be upgrading the site to SMF 2.1 in the coming weeks. For those who aren't members of CP (another site of Pat's that I just did the upgrade on), the new version includes quite a few new features as well as a theme that's optimized for devices of all sizes, including smartphones and tablets. The new features include the ability to embed YouTube videos, the ability to like posts, a built-in notifications system, post/PM drafts (start working on a post, then save your work and come back to it later without having to keep the site open) and a few other things.
I will keep everyone posted as to when the change is happening so you're not caught off guard
Here's a great song I just recently found.
"Leavin's Not The Only Way To Go" by Roger Miller: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLiHGlMRzrw
This was written by Roger Miller for the 1985 musica Big River. He recorded it himself in 1986, and it's also been recorded by Glenn Campbell (1987), Merle Haggard (2005) and most recently by lesser-known country duos The Stellas and Lennon & Maisey for a Roger Miller tribute album that was released in late August.
Here's a cool patriotic tune I discovered recently. It was quite popular in 1942 and almost completely forgotten after that save for a couple recordings in the 1960s.
"This Is Worth Fighting For" by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WpChyE2-Kg
This was also recorded by Vaughn Monroe, Kate Smith and The Ink Spots among others. Those in the UK might be familiar with a version recorded by Leslie Hutchison (aka "Hutch").
Here's one for you Canadians... "Blue Canadian Rockies" by Freddy Quinn and Lisa Brokop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FrCQRjdtyk
Here's a fun one...
"Your Cheating Heart" by Freddy Quinn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msKRfOPKGXY
Freddy Quinn is an Austrian singer who was apparently quite popular in the 60s and 70s. This somewhat over-the-top version of the Hank Williams classic was released in 1970 on an album of country music.
Here's another good one I found...
"My World" by Karel Gott: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94Z3yzqdaWk
This is an adaptation of an Italian song called "Il Mondo". This was a big hit for Englebert Humperdinck in the mid 60s and has been recorded by many others as well.
Karel Gott is a prolific Czech singer who enjoyed considerable success from the late 50s through the mid 80s before making a comeback in the mid 90s. He has recorded songs in at least three languages (Czech, English and German).
Found this fun novelty tune from 1960 earlier. Three versions appeared around the same time - one by a duo called The Tree Swingers, this one and one in the UK by Frankie Vaughan. This was apparently the most popular of the three.
"A Kookie Little Paradise" by Jo Ann Campbell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFPak2lsrX0
Next time it happens copy or take a screenshot of the error message you get so I can see what's going on
At some point in the 60s someone thought it was a good idea to attempt to cash in on two crazes at the same time - Beatlemania and country music. That lead to the album The Fabulous Beats Go Country in which a Beatles soundalike group records country songs, including "Please Release Me": https://youtu.be/_n_dRrte1i0
I did some work on the database and I think it's fixed now, but I still have no idea what the problem was. I re-imported all the old messages from the other server and I still got an error when trying to do something with the database, so I'm not sure where the problem was. I had to hack things up a bit to get past that point but it should be working now without any errors.

Something must have gotten messed up in the transfer. You can fix it by going into your profile and editing your signature.
Also I'm going to be out of town tomorrow (Monday) and most of Tuesday but will try to check in from my phone from time to time.
