Welcome to the world - Marley Marie!

Jenny:  Best wishes for a great visit with your dad!  Sorry for your airline issues - it used to be Friendly Skies.

Hello Larry!

We drove from Tucson to Carlsbad, California.  Just in time for several days of heavy rain - that does not stop drivers from speeding and we were so happy to have one day to walk the beach without getting wet.  Yes, we had rain gear but the wind was fierce and we had to go out to get food -  Traffic was insane even on early Saturday morning.  It was almost peaceful to finally get out of the area.  We did have a great visit with son and wife - they left for Montana a day early.  They are not going to look for a house in that area.

Take care - all!

Love the stories - keep them coming!

Hello to Don - your selfie is great!  I thought I could send one of myself and ended up sending a photo of the top of my hair - everyone had a good laugh.

Our daughter recently adopted a Golden from the country Turkey.  Apparently, the people only want status symbols of Golden puppies and when they are older, they are dropped.  The family lives near Golden, Colorado and the town celebrated their first Golden Retriever gathering.  Daughter's dog was able to learn to swim - the dogs all had a wonderful day and it looks like it will be an annual meeting.

Jenny, I am sorry to learn of the latest diagnosis for your DIL.

Lloyd:  I hope you had help moving the poor old Bull.

Larry:  Take careful notes on water you drink and all the meds - and try to stay off the stairs.

We see little and now bigger health issues each and every year. Taking it in stride.  Time to watch Jeopardy and shout out the answers - sometimes they are correct.

We lived in Texas for nine years and recall "Iffing the Creek don't rise" fondly.  We finally did understand what they were saying - so many differences.  I really appreciated the way schools respected our flag and country.

Stay warm & hydrated.

Sorry about the winter storms affecting so many of you - I hope you can stay indoors and not walk or travel.

It is 75* F in Tucson today and there will be a lunar eclipse to watch/.  This odd high temperature is only one day then cools off soon.  So nice to air out the house.

Amy:  One son's dog is named Jesse too.  The poor little thing was not taken care of by the first owners and son and DIL had to spend a small fortunate getting her back to good health.  She is easy for us to dog-sit.  Enjoy.

Larry:  Nice news that you are recuperating from the hospital ordeal.  I think blood pressure goes up just looking at the white coats surrounding you.

I hope the weather guessers are wrong in predicting such a load of snow.  One year, in Fort Collins, CO - we were out of town when a huge storm hit.  I went to the grocery store and - I am not kidding - there was only a couple of cans of something non-food left on the counters.  It had to be a wild scene.  Fortunately, I had some food in the house;  We were glad to miss the wild shopping day.

The mountains need more snow and this storm looks like it isn't going to cooperate.

7 inches of snow in Denver last night - I sure do not miss that slippery north facing driveway.  Rain is forecast for Tucson here tonight - there is snow on Mount Lemmon.

Amy:  Do you have a dryer or a clothesline indoors?  I remember having to hang everything outdoors - it was awful outdoors in Minnesota winters and really nice in Colorado chilly weather.

Reading all of your notes, I am so far behind.  Today is a dentist appointment for me then I have to get serious about our non-packing anything - for the flight to Denver on Saturday.  We keep a lot at home - prescriptions and so forth just so we can travel light and cheap.

Best to all, must get things moving around here now.

Thanks for the birthday greeting for Don.  He wanted to have a Prime Rib dinner and that is all.  We are going to be with the children for two weeks beginning Saturday and they have scads of things planned.

Jenny:  It sounds like you made a quick trip to California - I hope Bob is getting good care for his gout.

Tisi:  Robo calls are driving me insane.  They use the beginning of our phone number so I cannot tell if it is a neighbor or not.  Dreadful people!  One actually cursed me when I said "take me off your list".

Radioman Don:  How is the Santa party working for you?  Is it over?  I hope they give you hugs.

Keeping all of you in my thoughts - stay warm, be careful and don't walk on ice!

Jenny:  Why are you going through Vail?  Just go south to Albuquerque and turn west until you are north of Phoenix.  We are expecting some weather in a couple of days but if you stay away from Flagstaff, you should be OK.  What do I know?  I am not a weatherman.  Have a safe and happy trip - enjoy your visit with your dad.  We are coming home in about ten days - have the streets plowed, please.

History is always interesting to me and the latest presidential funeral was set up so nice.  I do wish the cameras would have shown more people in the middle and back of the cathedral. There were two from Canada at least.  The music was outstanding.  Did anyone recognize the Tenor from New York City?  He sang at the 911 memorial - an outstanding voice and what a setting for the choir too.

Amy:  I chopped two kinds of apples and stuffed all in a crock pot with a swish of water, some cinnamon and Agave syrup - (low or no carbs in agave).  Kitchen smells terrific.

Rick:  Can you hear me now????  :) -- Really, I hope you were able to fix the alarms.

I don't know what happened - I can't have been so busy that I forgot to check on all of you.  It just seems that the daily "To Do" list keeps getting longer.

Angel:  Are you alright after the quake?  I have not heard if they could feel it in Sitka.  Talk about old news - after two days they barely run the story and what a huge and expensive fix this will be to all.

It is warm but windy outdoors today.  Rain is expected later this week and some snow at higher elevations.

Phyllis:  Sorry you are so cold.  I can relate but I am sure you feel the cold more than I ever did.  Can you find some wool gloves and cut off the tips of the finger?  I have seen people working with them.  Wishing you the best getting through winter.

Sandy:  Ugh, a cold right before the holidays.  I thought your last photo was so cute - t

Amy:  It is always such a sad situation when the dogs cross that rainbow bridge.  Hugs to you.

Jane S:  We have the same waiting game going on here but this is an electrician. He did come by yesterday and worked on the sink so I can run the dishwasher and use one side of the double bowl.  He may stop in either today or tomorrow  :2funny:  so I will be able to use the sink.  I found a leak and cleaned up today so something is not fixed.

IT IS WHAT IT IS AND YOU DON'T GET A FIT!

I chatted with a cousin who is near the border - they are near a military base so I don't think much will happen - we all want to go to Mexico sometime for a day but will certainly check out what is happening.  The Mexican border towns are losing business.

Don is taking a walk but someone has to stay here just in case the plumber decides to finish the sink job.  He had installed it about three years ago.

Joy!!  I'll bring tea and coffee and share those pastries.  Yum

Wonderful stories on what was picked off the ground.  Yikes.

Tumbelweeds - we lived off-base in Wyoming and one time I could not go out the west side front door because of the stack of weeds.  They can stick to the grill of a car too.

Belated birthday greeting to Don - Radioman!  My Don has a birthday we will celebrate a few days late when we get to Colorado.

Jenny is doing the Happy Dance, wearing her orange Bronco shirt!!!

Mary Ann:  I hope you are not trapped in the house from this snow storm.

Gloria:  There was a haze in the area from the CA smoke but it is clear now.  I am glad your relatives (daughter I believe) doesn't have the smoke.  One son had a San Fran trip and everyone was wearing masks - I hope he did as well.

We will be busier when get home - and busier than I planned.  We will do some 3 dogs/chicken/duck sitting with one son - so they can get away.  I just hope it doesn't snow. Today, we both washed windows here and Don put in some solar lawn lights.  It is super dark here as overhead lights are not allowed - the stars are much more visible and we do enjoy gazing outdoors.

Pitch dark the other night and I found two young men had been dropped off to sign a petition - they were frightened by the Javelina (wild pigs, sorta) as they should be because the bites have germs and they a huge.  I gave them one of our flashlights to help them find the main road. What kind of people would drop teens off in this senior community?

I just had to stop and answer the cell phone - another robo call.  We have heard that something may be in the works to hinder these interruptions. Has anyone heard the news on that issue?

The furnace came on early this morning - it is cooler in Tucson now - but much colder at home in Colorado.  We are this year going to be home for Christmas and first a birthday party for Don (a December baby).

Congrats to the young Scout!  Good for him!

A shout-out to our Don Reid!   :grouphug:  We care about you.

We are invited to a younger couples home for Thanksgiving - it is so sweet of them to include us.  I try not to think about how different it is being away from family and it will be so nice to be home for two weeks at Christmas.  Am under orders to not do any kitchen work, etc. and they are planning our lives now from the moment we arrive.

Amy:  Moose Farts are in the Pinterest site so I saved the recipe (I think it is saved).  Thanks.  Stay well, how is hubby?

Sandy:  Sorry about your pain with the muscle pull.  Would a sling help your arm?  May each and every day help heal your arm.

Gloria:  I hope your family in Kingman are doing well.  Wondering if they have smoke from the CA fires.

One son is in San Francisco this week an he tells us the air quality is really poor from all the smoke.  There are so many sad stories from these fires and more to come I am afraid to hear.

I baked two loaves of pumpkin bread yesterday and plan to make 4 more this week.  Also, made a pumpkin pudding (it wasn't anything to write home about).

We are back from our two-hour weekly class - mostly military history.  A retired 2 star general leads us and he is well-informed - even was a t.v.national commentator plus has a sense of humor.

Weather in Tucson is perfect right now.  It is daily in the high 70's and low 80's ad chilly at night so the entire house cools nicely.

I read all the notes from several days and forgot to write any down - so I just want to wish all the tough issues away for each of you.

Jenny:  Your note just appeared.   Congratulations to your new Eagle Scout.  One of our grandson earned it too and it actually is nice to have on a resume.  Some people know the work that goes into earning that merit.  I know the school - Valor.

Microsoft ruined Seattle - we are so happy that Amazon is NOT choosing Denver.  It could not get any more crowded.

We could not vote this year because the ballots cannot be forwarded.  The city of Denver always rules the entire state anyway.

Finally, tomorrow the television ads will be over here in Tucson.  It has been so overwhelming and nasty - really must be millions of dollars wasted on t.v. posts.  Wishing they could have given that money to a real crisis here within the state - many super problems.

I hope I have not confused you with three cities.  Seattle - my home town.  Denver - children are there as well as our home - Tucson, we come here for a few months in the winter (which is pretty mild this year).

Sue and Dig:  Agreeing with you on loss of privacy for sure.  We are being herded and it will be even more so with the younger generation.

Amy:  If you check in - Hugs to you!

Lloyd:  I hope Nancy's leg is healing - hopefully, she can sit and raise it up before you are driving on.  What a wonderful visit for you two - be sure and take lots of pictures.

I will pass on the sauerkraut and instead invite you to eat some Swedish dishes that will curl your toes.  Not exactly delicate fish.

Jane:  It is a blessing that someone found the bare wires - I do hope you can find a friend or at least a reasonable electrician.  I am sorry for this stress.

I have been trying to catch up on your news.  I'll look at the Duluth cam soon.  Sure have walked there many times and we used to take the children up North in the winter to ski and visit relatives - and always take them on a sight-seeing tour.  Don's home town & university.

I think it is about time (next year) for us to make a Minnesota drive.  Meanwhile, several cousins from there will be coming to visit us in Arizona  - this fall and later in winter.

I brought my new 6 quart Instant Pot and haven't used it much here.  You are right when you mention so many ingredients (having switched to a lot of vegetable recipes).

Mary Ann:  Sorry for your memories of Halloween.  Not many years ago, we lived in Fort Collins, Colorado and I had a new job just as Don had a new job.  I had to fly to Seattle as dad was in hospital & not responding.  He died on Halloween and mother passed on Thanksgiving of the same year.  She was in an Alzheimer's unit in Minnesota.  So, those holidays have not been as joyful sometimes.  Hugs for you.

It snowed - 2 inches of snow last night at home - Colorado (near Jenny).  Here, in Tucson, flowers are still blooming and it is finally cooling.

Flowers are still blooming and Hummingbirds are in the yard.  Well, it is Arizona.  Cousins from Minnesota have arrived this week - they are less than an hours drive. Tremendous noise from the street as they are digging to put in faster internet - it has been several days of this pus several days of nothing in between the actual work.

We have two trips planned for going into Mexico.  The lines can be long coming back - we must have Passports and they do ask questions.  I expect it to be even more serious business than it is even now.  The wonderful and smart German Shepherds get to meet and greet each of us too.

Jane:  What kind of candy do you make for the holidays?

My cell phone gets calls from the Longmont, CO area daily - a calling center that uses many phone lines.  My aim is to Block each and every number - I would like to ask some elected official why we have to put up with this interference in our lives.  It is a business, of course -

Jenny:  You can wash my windows too  :)  Good news that Bob's toe is better.  Any trips south planned?  The last Broncos trade surprised me.

Shirley:  I am so happy that this surgery is over for you and for the entire family.

Good Day all!  Remember to turn your clock / - Fall Forward.  We don't have to do this in Arizona.  I sure wish it would go back to the normal clock time all over.

Thinking of Shirley and family.

Amy:  It looks like home in Colorado may have snow at the end of this week.  That isn't unusual at all.

Soon, two cousins are arriving - one from Minnesota and one from Washington.  Both of them are trying to beat it out of snow.

I made applesauce in the crockpot yesterday - outdoors.  Just a little bit of Agave syrup to sweeten the green granny apples.

I wasted an hour at least on this old Viking sewing machine - then, finally, I was able to work on some hot pads.  Don is off for acupuncture treatment and I usually go along but it is too hot to sit outside in the car.

Shirley:  I sent you an email re:  your son and hope and pray he has a correct diagnosis.

Jenny:  How nice that you could have an extended visit - I hope you were able to find fall colors.

Soups on:  Tonight is a chicken vegetable soup with pasta adding around 4:30 PM.  Last night, it was without the pasta with a sourdough bread.   I am looking at a Greek Lemon Soup recipe and remember fondly a wonderful soup in a Greek restaurant.  We have scads of lemons in this area and leeks look great.  The veggies are really nice here.

Jane:  How nice that you had such a great visit - fleeting as it was for your idea.
