It seems that instructions vary depending on the device you're using. My iPhone has no "go down" button that I can find.

Diane and Del Church. She was/is a very likable person. They're still sorting out the dead (getting DNA and such) and the missing. What horror.

Good day, all. If this works, I'll teach myself to navigate the site.

Joy, my mother in law bought a rollator via Medicare just two months ago. She had a prescription from her doctor, paid the supplier for the device, and was reimbursed by the supplier when Medicare paid them.

Mary Ann, my calendar says Autumn starts Sunday; of course, it’s a bank calendar ...

They’ve cancelled all sunshine for the Chesapeake Bay until Wednesday, but I’m not daring to complain, since the eye of Florence is right over my aunt-in-law’s rehab center as I type. I hope she’s playing Bingo and not looking out the window.

Patricia, I just read a jaw-dropper about a hermit: The Stranger in the Woods, by Michael Fonkel. By the time I finished it, it was the author I thought was ill-balanced.

Mary Ann, so glad you’re swimming upstream again.

Where are all the dog people? Lying around panting in the humidity?

Sorry he’s out of focus; he was clearly still in washing mode.

There are two stories about him, coming up soon.

This is Boomer, short for Boomerang. He’s as close to still feral as we have, unless it’s breakfast time.

mary Ann, you probably should be afraid of Midi; she’s the one who refuses to be housebroken. She also once climbed 60’ into an oak tree and refused to come down for three days. When she came down, she came just 5’ on the trunk and FELL the rest of the way. I was prepared to get a shovel, but she scampered off to her water dish. Patricia, we’re not sure of her age; she came to us fully grown 12 years ago.

Such a busy week. This morning Java joined me on the bed and encouraged a 10 minute scratch. That's as long as she's stayed since she arrived. Oh, and, like Nikita, she signals her opinions by nipping faces. I paid her back for that by dematting her.

Patricia, that is one gorgeous cat. I showed the picture to Java, who was properly cowed. Did you ever see a cowed cat?

Resizing a picture taken with a iPhone is not impossible, but I’m 79, and would like you to see these cats while I’m still alive. The good news is that it takes really good pictures.

Here is the reason we have seven instead of the six we have room for. This lady was an infant threatened with extinction. Java has asthma.

Patricia, Farrah is delicious. Is her weight improving?

Mary Ann, here we have foxes and barred owls and rumors of coyotes, so when one of the cats goes off I often adjure her not to doze off out there. They usually stay visible in the yard, and come in at sunset.

RAMMEL, suits me to include those. H discovered a box turtle in the yard on Saturday, so she laid out a snack of tomato and cucumber peelings while the turtle backed off nervously . As soon as she came in, he/she set to with a will. She gave the critter seconds, and blessed if it didnt show up yesterday morning for more. And got it.

MarilynE, Im delighted to announce that some of that powder must be getting into that cat. She woke up this morning limber enough to give herself a good wash, nethers and all, and then went out for a circuit of the house in the rain.

Lets see what I can do about more pictures. (BTW, S&F was eating apostrophes over the weekend, so Im trying not to use them until the database settles down.)

I get to keep trying until I get it right: here is Miss Cree, looking and feeling old.;id=570
Tonight she accepted more of the powder in her food; I have hope.

Bubble, you are a wonder!

We have seven cats here in the Shelter, and I have been chatting on about the oldest, Cree, a muted calico now 16, and in need of arthritis medication:

For all her 15 years with us she has cried in terror whenever we have picked her up. (Can you imagine what her life in that first year must have been like?) We pick her up only as absolutely needed, for grooming and medicating, speaking nonstop soothing stuff and releasing her as quickly as possible. But this duralactin capsule is way too big for her. We managed to get some into her by emptying the capsule into her evening wet food, and burying it as best we can. To answer someone, she is free to go out, but rarely does.

Off to write a duralactin review.

Do all of you post in these discussions by hitting Reply? If so, then I understand why I cannot post in the Animal Shelter folder: there is no post to reply TO! What am I doing wrong, and where should I be posting these questions?

Patricia, would you give a message to your friend who thinks you should get out more? Tell her to go read Susan Cain’s first book, Quiet. As a sensitive, I can’t stomach the mantra, “For better health, make new friends.” The extroverts are determined to belittle the introverts, to the point of calling them abnormal. Whereas I look at the extroverts and ... smh. Thanks for listening.

We’re working on a way to get a horse-size capsule into a cat-size cat. Force-feeding it didn’t work; it just made Cree angry enough to race out into the monsoon.

G’day. We’ve spent too much time at the vet, but little Java still has her spates of difficult breathing; I’ve started the brewers’ yeast for her: Amazon had to import it from England, lord knows why. We thought she might be allergic to the food, so we put down servings of three kinds, and she quickly chose the regular Purina Naturals. So there. Today is a perfect summer day, so I’ll celebrate it by grocery shopping. Hope you all find something to celebrate.

It seems odd this morning to have high humidity and full overcast, but it looks and feels threatening enough to postpone a trip to Newport News. We’ll concentrate on these fast-growing cat toenails instead. Hope you’re all well or at least full of optimism.

Hey, Patricia, Larry, and MarilynE, we have 7 cats here, 2 down the road, and our active fosterer has 11 at last count. Oh, and H’s mother got a cat and told us we could have him when she dies. We worked for a while with the local Animal Welfare League, but they were dog-oriented back then, so we started TNR on our own. I stopped counting at 179.

Yes, MarilynE, we’re still A Place in the Sun. But we’re not able to take in more cats here. You’ll understand if I say we limited ourselves to 6 ... that’s why we have 7.

Mary, thanks for the heads up about Brewers’ yeast. Where do you get your combo?

Larry, 6 of our cats are indoor/outdoor, and one is outdoor only, because she cannot or will not be housebroken. Midi’s a born bobtail, and the other cats all dislike her, so we’ve never decided what’s cause and what’s effect.
