I'm still coughing from the bout with pneumonia but I'm feeling stronger every day ( I am very careful if I feel a cough coming on & cough into the bend of my elbow ) . Today I was in  the check out at the grocery store , the woman ahead of me told the checker she had a bad cold .   I was silently saying to myself " thanks a lot ! "  I told her I was recovering from pneumonia . I turned my back to her & hope I don't get what ever she has !   I'm weaning myself off the oxygen as my primary dr. said to do , but I still use it at night .  I mentioned to my husband last night that I wondered if I could go off it at night . He scared me , he said " I don't know if I can get the funeral papers from the safe ( he meant open the safe ) if you do die !!   I see my dr. in a few days & I will talk to him about not using the oxygen at night . I am off it during the day .

I saw my primary care dr. this morning & asked him about Prolia & that the cancer dr. wants me to take it .  He said no & the cancer dr  does not know my medical history . She doesn't know I have respiratory issues & when I saw her last she asked me about the oxygen I was using .  One of the issues with Prolia is that it can cause shortness of breath, I already an dealing with that  .  I'm happy my primary dr. said no . For me there are too many bad affects .  The dr. said it it interferes with elecrolytes also .

Does anyone take Prolia ? I saw my cancer dr. today & she thinks I should get the Prolia injections every 6 months to help prevent bone loss . She gave me some information on it . I want to talk to my primary dr. about it because it may interfere with my regular medications .

We got back home from the Model T tour this afternoon . One day we went to a ghost town of Nelson , Nevada .  http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/nelson.html     There was a tour of a mine but I didn't go because of "my machine" as I call it . learned later the path in the mine was rocky & dusty , so it was best I didn't go in .  Most all of the driving was on roads difficult for a Model T to drive safely , modern cars went whizzing by & wasn't  what us Model T'ers are use to . I could say many things that bothered us but I won't bore you . Just happy to be back home !

I have been using NYSTATIN for Thrush following my stay in the hospital .  The dr. said I could swallow it or spit it out after using it . I didn't swallow it because I get sick from many drugs  I must have swallowed a bit & had a stomach ache & upset stomach . This morning I had to hurry to the bathroom . I have stopped using it .  Has anyone had this reaction to it ?

I'm slowly weaning myself of the oxygen .  I rode into town this afternoon with hubby in our 1926 Model T Ford . Hubby filled the T with gas while I went next door to the bank .  We over paid a bill & got a refund  check !  A lady waiting in line in the bank commented on the T , I didn't think she could see it from where she was standing .
I discovered how to clean the tubes to my oxygen concentrator online .  They are suppose to be hung up until they dry inside .  It wasn't happening & I needed to use one .  I hooked it up wet , the oxygen dried it out .
I sort of over did today doing laundry , making cookies & packing for the T tour . I'm going to sleep like a log tonight !

We bought a portable mini concentrator yesterday . It was a demonstrator & only has 10 hours on it & came with a cover & a cart , also connections to charge it in a modern car & home electrical outlet . We are going on a Model T Ford tour next week , I'll bring it along on the tours in our Model T but will only use it as needed .  I'm trying to wean my self from the oxygen as the dr. told me to do . So far I 'm able to be off oxygen for 2 hours .
This is the unit I have .

I saw my primary dr. this morning & my breathing isn't good enough to go off the oxygen yet . I am to go off the oxygen for several hours to wean myself off it . My husband Norm asked if I would be able to go on a Model T tour which is coming up in a couple of weeks . The dr. said they now have a portable concentrator to take with us to have incase I need it . He wrote a prescription for it to be taken to our pharmacy . It will need to be ordered .  So happy , I will be able to get back to being active !  Also the dr. called in a prescription for a mouth rinse ,  I have Thrush from all the drugs I have been on .
My dr. has an entire wall with pictures of his patients , I was scanning while waiting to check out .  I saw a picture that made me laugh & realize what a neat dr. he is !  The dr. was sitting with one of his young patients & they both had their tongues sticking out !

I finally have an appt. to see my primary doctor Monday morning concerning my diagnostic chest x ray I had taken this week .  I don't care for the way the doctor has his phone calls set up .  When I call I get options on which button to click on for appts ., etc. , then have to leave my number for them tho call back . So I wait & wait for a call . I called yesterday , didn't get a call back , so this morning I called again . Finally got a call back mid morning .
I am anxious to see the doctor & hope I can be taken off the oxygen , We are planning to go on a car club tour & would like  to be free of the oxygen .

I'm still on oxygen , hubby doesn't think I should drive yet & he will drive me to crochet class tomorrow .  It is through the public school system & they are paid classes .  There were 8 classes & I have missed 2 & tomorrow 's class is the last for this term .
I will probably have a chest x ray next week as a comparison & hope I can go off the oxygen . I wake up usually with the oxygen off my face & don't seem to have a breathing problem .

SharonE  The nebulizer works fine , its the oxygen concentrator that is malfunctioning . The nebulizer is a breathing treatment compressor . There will be someone out today between 12:00p.m. & 4:00p.m.

Husband & son discovered the oxygen concentrator isn't refilling the portable oxygen tank I would take with me when leaving the house . The supplier has been called & said someone would come here , this was yesterday .  I woke this morning & the oxygen tube had come off my nose during the night but dr. said I still need to use it .

I have an appt. tomorrow to see my primary care doctor . When I called to make the appt. I was told "Mary" would see me . I think Mary is his nurse , hope I get to actually see the doctor too .
Last night I finally got to sleep in our bed but all propped up .  We are having a cold spell & thought the furnace wasn't working , so we piled on extra blankets . Son thought to look at the power box outside & found a switch was flipped .

The bug that I have had on & off since the fall got me admitted to the hospital 3:30 a.m. on Valentines Day !   I just got home this evening after 5 days in the hospital ! I have pneumonia & am still recovering .  The hospital food was terrible , good thing I didn't feel like eating for 2 days . Some of the nurses agreed , I mentioned the kitchen needed someone to help them improve the cooking . They agreed !

If the cancer had appeared at a younger age I would have had radiation .  My cancer is hormone related , I was on hormone therapy in my 30's , then the cancer scare so I stopped taking it .  I am now taking a little white pill that blocks estrogen . I will continue seeing the cancer doctors & have the mammograms . The cancer edges were well defined & had not spread .

I had an appt. with the cancer doctor this morning , she was checking on the healing of the lumpectomy , all is well .  She asked if I had started radiation & was surprised when I told her I chose not to have it . She asked why & I told her because of my age & the little value of having it & my primary doctor liked my decision . Then she agreed .
On the subject of gray hair I have some scattered here & there but they are difficult to see . Its a heredity thing , my grandpa was 1/4 Welsh & that could be it .

I had the PET scan on Tuesday , the worst part of it was getting the radio active dye injection .  It took 3 jabs , first she said it was her fault , second was mine because I moved . Both of those were in my arm , last one was on the back of my hand .  She pushed & pushed & the needle wouldn't go in & when it did it hurt like crazy !   The scan was in close quarters but I got through it okay .
When I went into the waiting room my husband jumped out of the chair with his arms out & said "now we can eat !" He had the room laughing . He had breakfast but I had to fast .

On Tuesday I'm having a PET scan . Have you had one ?  I was told it takes 2 hours , wondering if that is for just the scan . I had a problem laying for the breast MRI , I hope I can make it through the scan .

SCFSue   The radiologist also agreed on no radiation because of the size of the tumor & my age . He asked me how old my Mom was when she passed & told me of what value radiation would be to me .  It would offer very little to my life & he said it would not cause my death .  I told him I thought I would die of respiratory problems . I have asthma & COPD & one lung is pinched by my ribs from a childhood fall . Yes , my doctor knows my body very well & has kept me going through many respiratory episodes .

I saw my primary doctor this morning , he says I'm okay . I told him of my choice concerning my cancer treatment & he said I made a good choice that radiation burns the skin & could do harm to my lungs .  He has me taking a probiotic & Milk Thistle for my stomach because of all the meds &'m taking & for my liver .  I told him I'm waiting on the PET scan because of my cough , he agreed . I see him again in February . He has seen me through so many lung issues .
