I've disabled email notification options for now. I'm not sure why you're all getting hammered with old notifications, but that should stop the flood.

Quote from: jane on February 16, 2019, 05:51:20 pmMichael...the update undid your making some things bold for our old eyes...like Updated Topics.

I thought I redid all the changes when I did the update, but I apparently missed some things. I'll work on getting that fixed tonight :)

Quote from: angelface555 on February 18, 2019, 02:06:49 pmInstead of seeing the other posted graphics when I am replying to a post or attempting to comment on a graphic, I don't see the graphics, only their coding. I'll post a screenshot.

You cannot see attachments on this board.

That's an issue caused by a change in how the inline attachments work in the new version. If you see any of those, let me know and I can fix the posts.

Quote from: angelface555 on February 18, 2019, 02:27:32 pmI just tried again this morning and the issue seems to have been fixed. I will try again later to doublecheck.

Are the semi headings such as updated topics, unread posts and the like going to be bolded again for easier viewing?

Yes. I can do that. Which ones were bolded - just "Unread Posts" and "Updated Topics"? I seem to remember that most of the buttons in posts ("Quote", etc.) were bold as well.

Quote from: Marilyne on February 09, 2019, 02:10:13 pmMichael, we lost quite a few members, in the last upgrade, who never returned.  Those of us who are still here, have adjusted to the new format. Maybe it would be best to leave things the way they are?

The upcoming update won't bring many changes at all - it's just a minor update that fixes bugs and such.

Another update for everyone... A new version of the forum system has recently been released which fixes quite a few bugs and such, so I will be upgrading the site again in the next week or so. The changes won't be nearly as drastic this time around and there shouldn't be too much of a disruption. I'll post again when I have a better idea of when the upgrade will take place.

I'm still looking into the post box. I increased the size of it but the problem is the emoticons are loaded after the post box so that in turn decreases the size of it again. I need to see if there's a way I can make it stay the size I want it.

Quote from: June Drabek on December 20, 2018, 08:26:03 pmI get no posting area. I click on Previw and it gives me a red outlined area to post in. Very dis=heartening. And my Navy color has disappeared. June

I'm not sure why you wouldn't get a posting area at all. You can always just click the "REPLY" button below the last post on the page instead of having to click "Preview".

Also, the navy color is still there. It's the fifth box in the first row of the font colors (two boxes to the right of the one you clicked).

Made most of the buttons bold. Not all of them are behaving though so I'll need to look into that further in the coming days.

I'll see what I can do there. That one will be a bit more work as the style used there applies to all buttons, not just those.

If you don't see them in bold, hold down CTRL and SHIFT and press "R" to force your browser to reload the CSS file.

Sure. I'll look into that when I get a chance.

I'll try it again in Windows when I have a chance (I primarily use Linux) but I haven't been able to reproduce the issue at all in Chrome, although there is a recently discovered bug causing text to be dropped if there's an ampersand in the post (the ampersand and everything following it will get dropped from the preview).

Site Announcements / Re: FYI: Upcoming site upgrade

I've removed the confirmation for marking posts as read from the message index.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue with previewing posts. I tried it with 5 paragraphs worth of dummy text from lipsum.com - normal size, bold, size 7, etc. and each time it showed all of the text when I clicked preview.

What browser/operating system are you using? That will help me figure out if it's a browser issue or not.

Quote from: Marilyne on December 10, 2018, 11:40:13 pmMichael - I am again getting the pop-up box that says, Are you sure you want to mark messages as read? This happens every time I click on Mark all messages as read. I told you about it, and you removed it, but now its back.  Can you please get rid of it once and for all?   Also, my preview box is only showing a fragment of my messages, so I'm unable to proofread them.

I removed it for the main button on the board index. It must use different code for the one shown for each board. I'll take care of that when I get a chance and will also look into the issue with message previews when I have time.

I made some changes to the notifications code recently to fix the problem with duplicate notifications and such. It appears that the bug with the code (prior to my changes) caused it to miss things, so that's why you're suddenly getting old notifications. That should hopefully clear out soon.

I have no idea why it would only show part of the post when you click "preview". It's showing all of it for me.

Here's a lively one I stumbled across earlier...

"Christmas Comes But Once A Year (Christmas In Carrick)" by The Barra MacNeils

This was written by Seamus McGrath and originally recorded by Irish folk group The Clancy Brothers in 1969. This version was released in 1999. The Barra MacNeils are a Canadian celtic music group from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Quote from: MarsGal on December 05, 2018, 07:34:29 amI'll be darn if I can figure out how I managed to get a "Message Icon" up at the top. I can't figure out how to turn it off, or show none. Just noticed it today. I wonder if this is a Shan the typing expert assistant insertion I hadn't noticed before? It was on Angry when I saw it. I see the things sometimes at the bottom other posts, mostly the thumbs up icon with he word Like beside it.

You can choose the message icon if you want by clicking on it and changing it, but there's no way to get rid of it entirely.

The thumbs up and the "Like" at the bottom are so you can "like" someone's post.

Go to the top of the page. Click on your name, then click "Look and Layout". You'll see a "Time zone" setting there. Choose the appropriate time zone, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Change Profile". If you can't figure it out, let me know where you are or what time zone you're in and I'll adjust it for you :)

Quote from: Mary Ann on November 26, 2018, 12:54:53 pmMichael, I have something happening that is new.  I do not use the Spell Check since I'm a pretty good speller.  It isn't happening here in this message, but in the folders the red line starts when I type a word and continues until I am nearly finished with the word.  It happens with every word.

If there is some way to get it to quit, I'd appreciate it but if not, I can live with it.  If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.

I think you have an almost thankless job.

Mary Ann

That's the browser's built-in spellcheck feature, not the one here (the one here only works when you click the Spell Check button).

Quote from: angelface555 on November 26, 2018, 01:51:12 pmI finally after ten days, was able to post a photo in Pets. Please, could we have a simple basic explanation of size and compressing that all could understand and use, grafted into Attachments and other options? Also for some reason, in my posts, my IP address shows under my location. Since no one else seems to have that issue, I'm assuming hopefully that I'm the only one who sees it?

Your IP address only shows up for you and the administrators. It's hidden for guests and everyone else.

And yes, that "are u sure" is annoying!

Another thing is, when you are posting as the 1st of a page, you cannot see anymore the previous posts that are on the other page, as it was possible previously. Any way to change that?

I've edited the code to remove the confirmation when clicking that button.

I'm not sure what you mean about previous posts. When I try it in this topic, all of the previous posts show up regardless of which page I'm on when I click "Reply".

Quote from: Marilyne on November 25, 2018, 01:15:35 pmSomething I would like very much to get rid of!  When I click on Mark all messages as read, on the forum, an annoying little box pops up on my screen that says "Are you sure you want to mark all messages as read?" Then you have to click yes or no, to make it go away. Is that supposed to be an upgrade?  We got along fine without it in the past. Is there any way to get rid of that box forever? :knuppel2:

Getting rid of that is just a simple code change, so I can do that if it's a huge deal. That was added to make sure people don't click that button by accident.

Quote from: jane on November 25, 2018, 10:14:05 amAny chance you can bump font size up to maybe a 4? People are having to code that each time they post in discussions I've seen.  We have old eyes, Michael.  :coolsmiley:

I can increase the default font size some more, but I'm not sure there's an easy way to make the default size "4" without affecting other things as well.

I think I've fixed it for the time being. There's a setting to resize images when showing them under posts (leftover from before inline attachments were a feature). Disabling that seems to prevent them from getting resized, so I'll leave that disabled for the time being.

Ok... It seems if the photos are over a certain size it displays them thumbnail size and you can click on them to view them full sized. I'll look at the settings and see what I can do to adjust that.
