Soda Shoppe / Sad news for friends of Jeanne
« on: January 13, 2018, 06:34:59 PM »
This is Ken again,

It's with a heavy heart that I tell her dear friends, Jeanne Lee passed at 9:00 AM Thursday morning, Jan 11, 2018.

Alice (her daughter) and I were at her side when she passed very peacefully.  The last words she spoke to me Monday, were, "What would I do without you?" She paused a moment, took a breath and then said "I'm going to be with Jesus soon".

Her friends, her family and her faith gave her so much joy and comfort. She considered all of you her family. Pat, she loved you and thought of you as the sister she never had.

My brain tells me I will miss her less as time move on, my heart is not so sure. There will never be a day that goes by I will not think of her.  She was a good friend and a dedicated mother.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no memorial service other than a mention during Sunday's church service.

Soda Shoppe / Well, not sure where to start ........
« on: January 09, 2018, 02:11:51 PM »
Hi everyone. My name is Ken Corson.  Jeanne Lee is my Mom.  I wanted to let her friends here know that my Mom is in the hospital.  As many of you know, my Mom has been ill for a number of years. She suffers from COPD.  She's been doing relatively poorly recently and I was busy getting the wheels rolling to move her into a Nursing Home. I was here last Friday and she was in very good spirits and actually looking forward to this new chapter in her life.

I came up to see her yesterday to finish dotting "I's" and crossing "T's" to get the show on the road. When I saw her yesterday, I was floored as she had gone downhill VERY dramatically in a very short period of time. She has had a DNR for quite some some, and after consulting with the doctors here at the hospital, we agreed that keeping her comfortable was really the only thing that could be done, so ......... here we are.  She is comfortable.  I was frankly surprised that she made it through last night. She is a stubborn and tenacious lady, but she is tired ....... so very very tired.  The fight is over and she wants to be with God.

She has been pretty involved in this web site for some time and it gave her a GREAT deal of joy helping other Seniors navigate both this site and the internet in general.  She also made MANY friends here and that also gave her so much happiness. I'm terribly sorry to deliver this news in an area of the forum that is supposed to be fun, but I wasn't sure where to connect with all of you wonderful folks.

I'm sitting next to her now.  She is so peaceful.  If you are religious, feel free to pray for her. If not, please, wish her luck on the journey on which she is about to embark.  She's been my Mom for 65 years and I will miss her terribly.

if anyone wishes to contact me for any other information, I can be reached at
kencorson1952@gmail.com

Lastly, I just want to thank EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR BEING HER FRIEND.

Sincerely,
Ken Corson

A new business was opening and one of the owner's friends wanted to send him flowers for the occasion.  They arrived at the new business site and the owner read the card, "Rest in Peace."

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain.

After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist replied,

"Sir, I'm really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry, you should imagine this, 'Somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, 'Congratulations on your new location.'"

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's amazing how messed up things can get with three weeks of absence.  Spent most of yesterday "fixing" and probably will for the next couple of days as well.  I just thank the Lord that I'm still able to strighten things out.   ;)

Close, Cia, but not quite.  (Unless my memory is confused, which of course is possible.....)  Seems to me it was "the other" one.

#12 Right, Chia.

#6 For the smail of beauty - this was really only half of the jingle but I'm not totally sure of the second half.  Might have been "Sal Hepatica for the smile of health"

#9 Eventually, why not now?  A baking product

No smart phone (voice only), no ipad, no other device...  Then what?  Strictly rhetorical question, since I don't have Windows  10.   :D  It just seemed strange that to get instructions for reviving a dead appliance you  would need to use that dead appliance.    :idiot2:

Don't mind me.  I just like to shake things up sometimes.

If someone has suffered the BSOD how can they access the article to read about the solution, and how can they perform the actions suggested for correction?  It has always been my understanding that the BSOD prevents any access to or use of the computer.

I'll just sneak in here with an easy one.  Be careful, you'll date yourself with some of the answers.

What products were advertised with these catch phrases:

1.  You'll wonder where the yellow went

2.  A little dab'll do you

3.  Soft, strong, pops up too

4.  Good to the last drop

5.  12 full ounces, that's a lot

6.  For the smile of beauty

7.  99 and 44/100 % pure

8.  When it rains, it pours

9.  Eventually, why not now?

10. Breakfast of Champions

11. From contented cows

12. Use your head, save your hair

Nita, next to the menu slot that tells you to browse for what you want to post there is another drop down menu with several choices.  Default is "End of post expandable thumbnail".  Scroll down and click on "inline full-size image".

How do I get so lucky?

After thinking Walmart was out of everything and finding it was my mistake, I placed my order and my next door neighbor went to pick it up for me, like his always does.

He just brought it, about at least three times the size of my normal order.  And it isn't my order!  :yikes:  Not one single item of my order!  Whoever should have this order must be lots more upset than I am.  Anyway, I called and they are sending someone to bring my order and take away all this unwanted.

I sure have all the fun!   :2funny:

OK, I take it all back!  I needed to reload the site and then everything fell into place.  And I have my order mostly done.

SIGH!  My family always tells me I get my best exercise jumping to conclusions.

Well I'm really discouraged now.  I strongly suspect that the Walmart store where I've been able to order on line for pick up is going out of business.  Page after page of items are "out of stock".  I started an order two days ago, planning as I usually do, to go back and add more items.  I wanted to order Folgers coffee - none at all in stock.  So I went to another brand, two pages later, and added it to my order, only to find that every single item I had ordered previously was "out of stock".  No sense in even looking for the rest of things I wanted to order.

I'll wait a couple of days for them to have a chance to restock, but it doesn't look very encouraging.  I may have to go back to making explicit lists for a friend to shop for me when she does her own grocery shopping in a different store.

Patricia, that doesn't help much.  For instance what does this mean "She had left her networking door open, ".

So far as clicking on links provided by other people, whether here or in emails, or wherever...  basically, I don't.  And I never, never, click on anything that has already been forwarded, no matter by whom.  Does that help?

I started to put together an order for Walmart pick up in another few days and it seemed that almost everything was "out of stock".  I started to wonder whether the store was getting ready to close, or to shut down the grocery department.  I began to wonder what I would do if either of those things happened.  Than I thought "It could very well be a shortage because so much is being sent for emergency  relief."  For that I would certainly be patient, expecially since most of what I would order is "want" not "need".  Or maybe God is just reminding me that He is in charge.   So I'll wait to see what comes next.
