Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

MaryPage, I saw George S. on TV the other day talking about his book, Situation Room.  I immediately went to computer and put in a request at my library.  I'm on a wait list actually, but not too far down, so I should have it before the month is out (fingers crossed)! Another book that I heard the author speaking about on TV is "Age of Grievance" by Frank Bruni.
I requested that one from library too, but I think it's further down the wait list.  I just don't "buy" books anymore; limited $$ and limited shelf space. Of course we have to patronize our libraries, or their funding will get cut! Glad to see you posting and hope you are doing well.

I have finished The Situation Room by George Stephanopoulos and am here to report it is one of the best books, fiction or non-fiction, I have ever read.  I cannot possibly recommend it strongly enough.

It is a very fast read.  He writes clearly, explains plainly, and rearranges much of what I, at least, have believed to be true.  Now I will admit, I love History, and was very active in my state's politics for years and years.  Despite my pride in my studies and knowledge of these subjects, he turned quite a bit of what I believed around and changed my viewpoints somewhat.  I do not mean that he changed my politics.  What I mean is that Presidents, and this book is ALL about Presidents from JFK, who started the Situation Room, down to today and Biden.  You get minute details about each one.  Some presidents you may have personally thought, as did I, were not quite up to what you may have hoped for, turn out to have served this country amazingly well in the face of many, many, waaaaay too many, constant and ever occurring dangers to it.  Others you may have assessed as having done tremendously well turn out to have been playing us to see them that way: actually, they lacked the greatness that some others showed in spades. I don't know whether I am conveying this to you well, or not; but the book WILL make you more than just a little ill when you feel bombarded by the number of crisis each President goes through almost daily for their 4 or 8 years.  You will be hearing a lot of this stuff for the very first time it has ever been told, and some because it has been declassified since it occurred.  What more can I say?  I shudder now to think "what if I hadn't read it?"

Basically, what is the nitty-gritty of what it is all about?  It is about our Presidents and The Situation Room and how they have worked together since Kennedy's time.  The Situation Room consists of a group of extremely brilliant men & women who hear, analyze, and advise for those Presidents.

I do have one private opinion about that that aggravates me to no end, but does me no good to spend much time on.  Those Oh So Superior human beings of the sex opposite to my own ran the place all by their sanctified selves for some time, until it occurred to them that it might not mean the end of this nation or the Presidency if they admitted a female to their holy ranks.  She, of course, had to have even more rigorous admission rules applied, and so we finally got a woman in there.  Now, there have been a few.

As for that first?  She had to be, and was, and still is, a PhD.
But of course!  You know the way of it, Gals.  And I still see a red haze and feel an anger that equals or betters the force of nuclear destruction. Then I shrug and tell myself to get over it, and I do.  For a little while, at least.
