It amazes me that there is so much about the Kardashians.  They must be of interest to the younger generations.  I don't watch them, but when I'm clicking down the channels, I can't help but come across them.

Mary Ann

I haven't watched TV in over 12 years and I sure don't miss it.  The speed talking reminds me of a Science Fiction story I read once.  Anyway,  I have the internet.  :)

angelface555

Hal, it isn't the size of the font, it is the "handwritten" font they are currently using that I cannot read. I will see if I can find a sample.

MaryAnn, they are everywhere and the whole family seems to make their money on sleaze. I have never watched them and don't plan on it and yet to my chagrin, I know way too much about them even as I try to avoid them. That is how pervacious they seem to be, I remember working at Sears and seeing the Kardashian line. The fabric was cheap, bias lines in jackets or blazers crooked & the cloth in jeans so flimsy you could see light through it and the bedroom furnishings had threads running and places where the dye had obviously run but all were very high priced coming from the manufacture and not Sears.

Joan, I have not had a television since 1997. It is internet news that seems so enamored on the Kardashians.

If there is anything that gripes me more is to be watching Television (which is a rare thing these days)a  and a program with discussion  is due, when the guest is introduced and the audience stands up and cheers as if that guest had just discovered the cure for Cancer...
I don't mind the courtesy of a bit of applause, but for some programs....it is just too much as far as I'm concerned. I suppose if the guest were one of my children...but...then again I doubt it....

angelface555

Two things that gripe me a lot are similar Chia. The hooting and hollering applause which is egged on by signs from the production crew and the adulation given to sports and actors. The most ridiculous is to reality filmers. The Kardashian family are originated from the careful managing of one daughter's sex tape. And now that one daughter is said to be worth 87 million dollars!

Now that says something about our country, that and that the magazines, People, and the National Enquirer, are our highest grossing magazines Everything of value it seems is superficial, vanity and gossip.

Marilyne

I never watch live TV shows like "Good Morning America", "Ellen", "Oprah", et al, because I cannot stand that hysterical screaming when the stars appear, or when any guest is introduced.  It's incredibly annoying, and really grates on my nerves.  I like Ellen, and would like to watch her show and enjoy her funny personality, but it's not worth putting up with the screaming masses.  Fortunately, Oprah now has her own network, and when she is on, or interviewing someone, it's so much more interesting and enjoyable without the audience participation.

CallieOK

Chia, Patricia and Marilyne,   Amen and Amen!!!!!   My "mute" button and closed captioning get a good workout on the rare occasion I do watch one of the "screaming" shows.

Beverly

Agree with all of the above, but do you all remember the old TV shows that were not done with a live audience? Everything was canned laughter then!  ;D

I also have received a 2017 calendar.  Damn beggars sure are optimistic.

You made me laugh at your posts about nonsense news, t.v. commentators and so forth.  The ads are tasteless to be sure.  Why is everyone dancing on commercials?

For real news, I read online from BBC (they do have their own opinions), politics is Real Clear Politics and that is more fair than others and Wall Street Journal has more details.

What jars me the most is that we no longer have "Family hours" for television - trying to think of the name of the man in charge of some kind of censorship in order to keep porn and terrible cursing away from children.... Now, there is everything.  The sleaze are in charge.
we chose Amazon and Netflix because we are sick and tired of a four-letter word.  Writers are actually paid to think up that four-letter word.

Another 45 min. wait on the phone to talk to our Illinois Auto License Office. Have been trying to get them for over a week and so I just hung on.
Now here they are no longer sending out the forms in order for one to renew the stickers. You have to watch and take care yourself. Do it on line or send in a copy of prev. years with a CC number . No personal Cheques.  I did mine on line and it said would come to me in 7 to 10 days. That was a month ago. Still not here. So now they tell me it was mailed to me June 12th. But is going through a cheaper rate of mail. Not first class. Yes on top of the $101 there are charges of $2.37 for mailing and handling.  They will now charge you $200 if they see that you do not have a current new sticker on if 30 days gone buy from when due.
So far the news say that they have collected over one Million . 2 in fines for people since Jan. 1st for having a past due sticker. Man 2 doors down had one 3 years old on his.
You get stopped now for every little thing and get a find. Light outs. Bad muffler. Getting unbelievable. Illinois so short on money they say. Now most street meters are $1 a hour to park . $10 for each ticket gets put on .  Think I will start using the buses.  I had one on my car 2 weeks ago on the Library parking lot that has City meters that you pay until 4pm. I put my car on at 3:45 not thinking.
They got a  worker for Walmart's yesterday. He was burning the Flag and putting in on the Internet. Got a good write up in today paper. What a speech he gave about what he thinks is wrong with the US.  I do agree to something he say but sure was crazy to burn the flag on that day.  People all around the Walmart's wanting him fired and such. I need to go there today but hope it cools down. So many crazy people anymore out there.  It looks like they are not going to be able to get much on him. Seems to have a good lawyer already in court this morning. I had noticed him at Walmart's just the other day. Sort of Asst. Mgr. I think. Just 24.

JeanneP re: the problem you are having receiving a form from the State: I once had a problem hearing from my State after waiting much too long for an answer...I got in touch with my State Representative (via Email)..explained what was happening, and it wasn't but a few days, that everything was solved with my receiving whatever I needed...
You will be amazed at how fast things will happen when you get in touch with a State Rep...The information to get in touch with them can be "googled"...of course unless you already know..Most people I find have no idea who their state reps are or State senators...

JeanneP

Well the young man who burned the flag on July 4th. Went to court yesterday. Had lots of people outside the courthouse with they big signs saying what they should do to him. Thank goodness he isn't  black.
Nothing was done. Judge says it is covered under the first amendment along with freedom of S peach That it was allowed along with getting up in a crowd and saying what you felt. ( Sure doesn't always seem to work that way).

Just hope now that someone doesn't hurt the man someway. As he works for Walmarts some may cause trouble.  They had better not try firing him. He would sue for sure.

Isn't it a strange country we live in anymore?

Now the military will be next. In the paper today about now going a little further in the "Gay" problem they have had for years. Now you can go in as male. and if you decide you want to be female they will cover the medical changes through Gov . Insurance.  This is bound to now be something for Trump to bring up..
Thank goodness I don't have a opinion on any of this.  Just that it seems things should not be being made so public  on both the TV and Internet. Just makes other parts of the world think more that the USA is getting crazy.  Anything goes.....

The Flag "thing" is interesting.
If you burn or "trample" a US Flag it is Free speech.
But - If you If you burn or "trample" any other flag it is hate speech and punishable.  :idiot2:

The only thing on the Man who burned the flag. Now it is costing the city money to have some sort of Security on him as he has already had 8 death threats and lots of people accosting him on the street.. Don't know about his Job at Walmart's. Suppose they will pay him to take a few weeks off.  Like all others things. It will blow over fast.

My gripe is about the heat. --------------------- I don't like it (at least this hot). Lots of 90s. More than I can remember ever having. And the humidity has been over the top.

Seems like the more they try to fix "Global warming" the worse it gets.  I have a theory about the bird whackers and their affect on the warming/weather.

Rick - what do you mean by the "bird whackers"?  It's unusually hot here in CA also, but the lack of rain is starting to take it's toll.  El Nino, was a joke here - but looks like it's still in effect in many parts of the US?  Floods and relentless rain across the country, but we haven't seen a drop since April, and that was only a trace.

wjoan

Well Rick, we are supposed to be 100 degrees today.  I am not a fan of hot weather either.

angelface555

Climate change is here, we are feeling the effects, and we have passed the point of trying to change it. Those who had their industry cash handsful did everything possible to make us believe it wasn't real, that it was merely a phase. Even now, knowing the risks and what is happening, they are hiding their faces while simultaneously holding out their hands for more payola.

This climate is what we as the world have left our descendants.

halkel

Yep Angel, climate changes all the time and man has nothing to do with it.  Ever hear of the ice ages?

Texas climate hasn't changed in my lifetime, except gotten a little cooler in the winter in my old part of the world. But some will try and convince you otherwise.

Bird Whackers are those huge windmill things they use to collect the free electric energy. They do kill birds. They also don't get the energy at no cost. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can be converted. My thought is that if you take enough energy from the winds that turn those windmill blades, you remove that energy from what it has been doing in the past - keeping our weather system moving along. Disrupt things and other things change.

Illinois lawmakers can always find a little pork for their constituents.

A Southern Illinois Representative spent $20,000 of taxpayer money to fix a lighted cross on private land. Why?  So he could get re-elected.

No way to get rid of these clowns.  THEN along comes Trump on the National political scene.

How can he pull so many good people into his gold-plaited gutter.
