Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

I miss years ago we could go  nearly every Sat. night we would take our two sons and go to the movies. (we called it family night) sometimes before we would go for pizza or some night we would go to  the ice cream parlor for a soda or sundae after the show. They look forward to us going out together. they were 13 and 7

Gloria de, there may be some families that can do what you used to do, but kids today have so many things thrown at them, not always as important as family nights, but their peers mean more to them than family.  I have often said I was glad I grew up at the time I did because we did things as a family, such as going to the neighborhood movie or even playing outside during the day - all year long.  We didn't have TV and our radio time was around suppertime.  I think for the most part "them days is gone forever".

Good morning Mary Ann and whoever might be looking in now.  It's a cold blustery day here with lots of wind and a lower temperature.  My azaleas have started to bloom and I'm afraid we'll have a killing frost tonight--but hopefully they are hardy enough to survive.

There was a tornado not far from here on Saturday--in Beauregard which is east of Opelika where Tim and Kris (son and DIL) live.  Tim came by this morning to check on me and said they had no damage.  He helped me with some paper work and then went to the Kroger store near his home in Opelika.  He does most of the cooking at their house.  There was lots of damage in Beauregard--something like 24 homes were severely damaged and some loss of life.  Mother Nature was not good to Alabama yesterday!

I'm having left-overs for lunch, so will get to that shortly.  It's pretty chilly outside, but I'm going to bundle up and at least walk around the block before fixing lunch.

Have a nice day!

Sue, I'm glad to see a post from you.  I saw Auburn on a map on the Weather Channel a while ago and thought of you but I had no idea how close the tornadoes were to you.  I am happy you had no damage, also that your son is OK.

You answered here my question in Norm's B&T.

Good evening, snow did not amount to much.  The day before people were going crazy. Someone said 4 to 8 inches of SNOW I bank in stop and shop, but had a hard time finding a parking place, every register was open and long lines. I was lucky no line in the bank. Next someone will announce Hurricane and there is run on beer and sweets :)

SCFSue, I was worried about you when I heard about the
tornado in Ala. Cyriel had and aunt we stayed in Opelika, the rest of his family lived in the Valley.  He was born in Alex City.

MaryAnn Friday night was the big night when I was growing up.  My friends would come over to the house and my mother would play the piano or she would roll up the parlor rug and play the victrola and we would dance, She also would make hot chocolate. She like to dance also, and lots of Sat. nights she would wear and evening gown and go to a dance at the Elks Club. Of course in the winter there was the basketball games. Of course you end up at one of the ice cream parlors. At my age 95  I feel bad for all the lost family memories if that can be called  agripe, I guess sadly that would be it. memories

My gripe is the foul language in movies - can the writers not think of anything? So depressing - it just ruins a good story.  In my house, nothing was allowed and in my family it was the same.  My favorite story on one son.  He came in the house after playing in the woods with his siblings.  Sulking and mad - I asked him what was wrong.  he said "Well, I have to wash my mouth out with soap because I said a bad word".  I asked him if he needed help and he said no and he did indeed go to the sink and washed his mouth with soap.

Here is another gripe.  They hired a new weather girl here - she drives us crazy with her arms flapping while walking around and speaking too fast and wants to be "cute".  And, weather (unless it is a real storm) doesn't have to be mentioned three times in the half hour.

On a roll here - if you do an internet search on insurance, for instance, you will most likely get a phone call really quickly.  We are being tracked all the time.

I hope everyone is safe with all the poor weather going around.

I certainly "ditto" this part.  TV in general has taken a dive --- poor audio in total. Squeaky whining voices. mumbling, dropping off at end of sentence, running stuff together.  I think the constant use of texting has made people incapable of normal talking.  Our weather reports have become long scientific dissertations.  Isobars, cold fronts, low pressure fronts, etc, etc. - just tell me, is it going to rain?

My other gripe is about ordering things. Seems most businesses have trouble getting a whole order done with no errors (this would include delivery [which is not part of the company ordered from]).  :tickedoff:   >:(    :tickedoff:

I am getting so fed up with all of these scammers, and all who are trying to attack your emails, your accounts and or where you shop! Then there are the companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Yahoo and others who never announced security breaches until someone else announces it months and sometimes years later.

The latest one is a May 28th of last year breach of an Interior Design firm, Houzz. You may have heard of the company when they have specials of stars or other notables using Houzz for decorating their own or someone else's home or property. This breach from last May!?! was only announced March twelfth!?!

I found out my account was breached and even if I only used it to save house and garden photos, the thieves still have my email and the site password. Think of those who purchased through the site and had credit account numbers stolen!

Been talking recently about making it illegal parking half on the road- half on the path and issuing a fine...Not only do these cars obstruct the narrower paths for disabled scooters but also for dog walkers with more than one dog, people visually impaired, and parents pushing a pram-pushchair forcing us into the road..The argument one spokesman made was it is not illegal to park on a pavement but it is illegal to drive on it...which is the only way to drive on it to be able to get on the the pavement in the first place...just using it an an excuse to flaunt the law..

Of course the argument has always been that some roads are too narrow that if these cars didn't take up half road-half pavement, the ambulances and fire engines with sirens blaring wont be able to get past...yes valid point taken but i see cars taking up half road-half pavement even on wide roads-streets...

Since my move, i faced this issue a couple of weeks ago when i visited a friend, i had to pass several shops with seating's outside, and dodged several uneven pavements and pot holes yet on the other side of the road looked more even, there was a long row of cars half on-half off the road so i stayed on the worse side of the road, the slopes, the mixture of different pavement stones, talk about a bumpety bump ride, i was terrified i was going to be thrown off, and done this journey at a snails pace.....

Not a gripe but on our BBC news...one of our UK's most notorious - prolific serial killers Peter Sutcliffe known as The Yorkshire Ripper has died age 74, had been suffering, and died from " Covid 19 " and was said to have refused treatment, other health conditions, heart problems - diabetes...All together now, no pity spared on him, nor will mourn the passing of this man, " what goes around, comes around " " our God works in mysterious ways. "...In the late 1970's Sutcliff terrorised the North of England murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven others, ( residential areas and red light districts ) he was given 20 life sentences after admitting his crimes in 1981...This is " music to the ears " of his victims surviving and younger families...
