"Hello, hello?" shrilled a spinsterish voice over the phone. "Is this the SPCA

"Yes."

"I want you to send somebody over right away."

"What's wrong?"

"There's a horrid magazine salesman sitting in a tree teasing my dog."

Oh well have a great day anyway.

Joan, it is such a relief to know that you are home.  Stay well. And stay calm....computers can always be fixed.....eventually.

Thanks, Jeanne Lee.  So glad to see you up and "attem" yesterday.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day, everyone. Supposed to be nice here.  No rain for a change so maybe the good weather will eventually get up to all of you in the northeast.

Good morning everyone, weather guessers were right about rain today. So far it does not look like the Nor'easter they were predicting. Then again the wind coming from a more northerly direction it is the other side of this building that will hear the wind more.

JANE  it is my 3 that keep reminding me that I did a lot for them. I do not feel like they owe me anything and I tell them that. I thank God that the 3 of them are well and happy adults.

HAL  just heard on the local news that by Wednesday we could have 80° here.Another year of feeling like going from winter into summer. I chuckled with several things on that Mother's day things.  With the problems with the monitor and buying a new one and then my external not working I slipped up on even getting a Jacquie Lawson greeting. My  other son was here yesterday and was looking at it and noticed on the floor a cable that was not connected. He plugged it is and my external came on. I sure hugged him for seeing it. Both sons are smart in different things and look for different things.

LARRY  with the rain here and a cool 46° I have the heat running. I remember asking my Mom for a wing from the turkey. More crispy skin there, that is what I still like best-crispy skin. I noticed the needle the last time I got the shot in my back, at least 3 inches long, made me wish I had kept my eyes closed.

CALLIE  congratulations to Emily. Like you I would enjoy watching on the computer than being in that crowd.

AMY  beautiful. I have read this before and it has touched me, yes I am blessed and thankful to God.

MARY ANN  even after most of her life living in San Diego every once in awhile someone would ask my daughter if she was from New England.

CAROL  glad I do not have to go into a city anymore. When I thnk of years ago when I lived in Providence and how we used to walk all over I would be afraid to drive through some of those areas now.

JOAN  so glad you are home again. Darn computers, always something when we want to use them more. I pray you are feeling much better now and that you keep feeling stronger each day.

JANE  don't think I ever read that RLS poem. Guess I shouldn't complain about the rain we have been getting when I think of the fires going on from it being so dry.

JEANNE LEE  you have been missed. I was worried about you being ill. Thanks for the new page, the wonderful graphic by Phyllis and the good chuckle. Love that dog.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

I want to wish all the Mothers on the forum a very Happy Mothers Day.  I happen to think that we have the most terrific Moms in the world right here.  I hope all of you have a great day with family.

We are going to our oldest daughters house today for "wings and Pizza".  I suggested we go out to some nice place but they wanted to stay home so the GKids could go swimming and play in the pool.

Got to go, wife has greeting again this morning so early to church.

Jeanne Lee, and Phyllis, thank you for the very apt Mothers' Day Card. Brings back happy memories to all of us that were Blessed with children.

Bis, perhaps your Computer was supposed to take a few days rest,so you too could keep recovering before going back to "work". Jeanne has done a fine job in the meantime. We are Blessed to have her.

LLoyd, don't cry….Father's Day will be here before you know it. Your wife was kind to share her sandwich with you.

I too need to get dressed for Church. Gary and Dori plan to come over later today…too late to have lunch here as they don't get out of Church until later.. the disadvantage of being the Pastor. They invited me to go out for lunch but I declined. I am just a plain old "stick in the mud" where going "out" is concerned.

See you later……June

Aunts get treated too - Tom asked if I wanted to go out to breakfast and I did, but it turned out to be brunch because we both had sandwiches.  We usually split or share the costs but this time he said he was treating me.  I do appreciate it - and Tom.

We are having a lovely day with the temperature about 66 degrees.

Dot and I did not go to church this morning because (1) she needs a special lens in her glasses for the second cataract surgery of last week and cannot drive, and (2) her son and DIL from Chicago are here.  The family (also her daughter and family who live here) will celebrate Mother's Day and Dot's birthday (in June) this weekend.  Dot's grandson, his wife and their two boys will be there so things will be lively.  They'll get together at Dot's daughter's.

I hope all the moms and grandmoms are having a very special day.

Just wanted to tell you all that I spoke with Bobbie Gould this morning.  I called her to wish her a Happy Birthday.  We had a nice talk.  She seemed real good
and her voice was so strong.  She doesn't get out much, but she is happy living with her daughter, now.  Her daughter brought her a nice dinner last night and she has enough left overs for today.  Plus they had cake and ice cream last night for an early birthday treat.  She is always so pleasant to talk with and she did mention some of the friends from the old Senior Net.  She still keeps in touch with a few of them.

I know she still has some friends who post here and I thought you would like to know that she is doing good.  She doesn't get on here anymore and she doesn't do Facebook anymore.  She has her computer and does watch TV.

I've been doing what my husband used to call "cleaning for the cleaning lady".  Astually, I'm just taking care of the clutter that accumulates whethere you have family or live along....at least it does at MY house.  My "Mother's Day Gift Cleaning Lady" is coming tomorrow at 9 a.m.  So I have to be ready.  I think we'll spend some minutes at the beginning getting to know each other and I'll see what she wants to do and what she won't do.  I'm hoping she doesn't mind doing windows because either mine are dirty or it's been foggy out for the last month.

I've had numerous Mother's Day Phone calls.  All were welcome but some had good news and some had bad news.  The young man who came to us as a 9 year old Fresh Air Kid from NYC a lot of yeas ago always calls on Christmas, Easter, My birthday, and New Year's day.  He didn't call this Easter and when I tried to call him, there was no answer.  He called today to wish me Happy Mother's Day and told me that he's had a stroke in mid-March.  He's recovering, doing physical therapy and his speech has been only very slightly affected.  Thank God for that!

I also learned that my granddaughter, Courtney who has been living and working in Philadelphia since she graduated from college 2 years ago has an interview at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a job in the psychology department.  She really wants this job so please keep her in your prayers this month.

I'll be off to my daughter's for supper in a bit.  She said, "come whenever you want to but I have to do it around the doggies dinner schedule.

Joy, I've thought of Bobbie so often and wondered about her.  I didn't know anyone who was still in touch with her.  Thanks for letting us know.  She visited me once on one of her trips.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Back from a good Church Service, and I will be going down for Sunday dinner at our small dining room around noon. I was invited by our Pastors wife to join them for lunch, but I prefer to eat later and at the dining room of our C building rather that the huge dining room at the Club house. When I was 91 I always ate at the Club house, but in just one year of aging I am not as "social" as I was then. Surprising at the difference one year makes as we age...just as our first year of life was a spurt of growth, now one year of aging is a decline of energy.  What we took for granted then, we give thanksgiving for now.

Mary Ann, I am so thankful for your life. You are still so "young at heart" and it is a delight to know how your Tom appreciates you. How young was he when his mother died ? I know the boys came close together in her pregnancies, so you surely stepped in as a surogate Mom early on in their lives. Now you can reap the rewards for your giving loving care.

Jane, I always have to "clean up" the kitchenette before my cleaning lady comes on Fridays, and my computer desk, but the rest of the place remains as is. They are not obliged to dust things like my Whatnot shelves as they are loaded with breakables, and I tell them I will do all the dusting, but my lady seems to take over everything in spite of my offer. She told me I was easy to care for, and so I just let her take over as she pleases.

About time to get down to the dining room and Sunday dinner. Then home to book and nap time. What a great life !!!!!!!!!!!!!

June, Tom was nearly 46 when his mother died in 2003; I just realized I was 46 when my dad died.

I'm with you, Gloria de and Junee about running out of steam as we grow older.  Younger people don't realize we can't do what we used to do.  I'm pleased to be invited to Indps, but the thought of getting down there tires me.  However, I am going; a wedding is very special.  The girl to be married is the prettiest of three girls and will be a beautiful bride.  Depending on circumstances, I could need a wheelchair and I want to know where the restrooms are!  I think I will be staying in Jim's house where his oldest granddaughter now lives.  Tom H's Canadian cousin and two children will be coming from Vancouver Island and probably will stay with him.  I think the Canadians would be a better fit at Jim's because of sleeping accommodations, but I'll go where they put me.  I do know I'll have a bed.  They take good care of me in Indps.

It is such a lovely day, sun shining, maybe on the coolish side, but very comfortable and I have both front and slider doors open.  The cat is sleeping in his bed by the slider, so he is comfortable.

It's late but I think I'll tune in the Championship Golf Tour.

Good afternoon, sunny, cool and very windy. We had a bad rain storm yesterday, with high wind, and there are leaves all over the yard to day.

Joan, just to know you are with us makes me happy.  Maybe it is just as well your computer is not working, as there is a bad virus out there, and suppose to get worse by Monday. It is hitting old computers. My computer is very slow to day, and the few Face book post I get all went to Spam.

Gloria, thanks for asking about me. I do not come in here as much to post, but I do read every day.  I feel I do not have much to say, and I sure do not want to complain about anything, A lot have more on their plates then I do. All I will say, I still get very tired, if I did not have to walk and breath, I am in great shape.

MaryAnn I am going to take a book out on the porch and read, also will bring my old Kindle and watch gold. This is a fun gold course to watch.

By the way, My neighbor brought me a Chinese dinner a little while ago. MOGooGi Pan (spelling) It means white meat of chicken.

June, at lest you get up and still go :)

JeanneLee, I forgot to thank you for the lovely Mothers Day Post.

Also Jane, I had a new cleaning lady Friday, so I did twice as much straightening up. I even took the sheets off the bed for her. :o

Back from a long lunch with three of the children - we were at youngest son's home about a 10 minute drive.  I have a hydrangea set in a pot and loads of loving card.  Oldest son is temporarily in the Phoenix area but he did call this morning.  #3 child drove his classic jeep and it is just perfect for him.  Daughter and DIL had so much food and one grandchild was able to come.  Perfect weather today and we sat where we could look at Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs.  The dogs were on their good behavior.

My laptop just gave me a verbal warning that I needed to call a phone number.  We shall see - not a good time to trust anything over electronics.

Linedancer:  It is wonderful to have happy and healthy family.  That is my usual order of Chinese food as well - always enough for two hearty meals.

Joan:  There is no place like home....

Joy:  Thanks for the news on Bobbie Gould.  Perhaps you can talk her into posting again.

A Late Good Afternoon to Everyfriend.  I hope your Sunday has  been A Good Day.

I'm just now getting on my computer because #2 son/dil went to church with me and then "presented" me with a Work Day At Mom's.

First thing was a roast/potatoes/carrots dinner they brought in their crock pot.

Next came two "installations".

One is an addition to my tv that makes the sound come from the front rather than from the back, as the built in ones do.  This is supposed to make it easier for me to hear without having the volume turned up so loud.  (Not sure that bothered anybody but them but it's a lovely gesture. :smitten:)  DIL, who is the electronics "expert", got this - and a couple of other things - all programmed into the remote.

The other one is a sprinkler system for the back flower beds that Son put in last year.  I have no control over the complex sprinklers and can no longer stand long enough to hand water the flower beds when it gets so hot that the regular sprinkler isn't enough.
This one has small heads to place wherever they're needed.  Each one is then attached to a 100 foot hose that hooks into the spigot.  It also has a timer for the # of minutes it's to run.  Son put the hose under the mulch in the flower beds and ran the hose around the edge of the patio - so things aren't conspicuous.

I did get to see Miss Emily walk across the stage at Commencement - and also caught a close-up glimpse of her as the camera panned the graduates after the ceremonies.

Joan,  so glad to see you back and look forward to hearing from you on a regular basis very soon.

It's been a Great Weekend but...as some of you have posted.....I'm out of steam!

Like so many others, I read several times every day but don't comment at the time & then when I do I forget half what I wanted to tell different ones & go on way too long about my own life.  Sorry~

Thanks for the update about Bobby, Joy. I did try to call her the days our local news was all about the Greensburg tornado being 10 years ago... didn't catch her that day & you know how it is, always think about wanting to talk to someone but it's the middle of the night.   ::)

Carol, my laptop gave me a pop up like that a couple days ago so I promptly shut it down the hard way as it "froze" the mouse.  I waited a while & turned it back on & seems to be okay.

Speaking of computers, I think it was Hal that posted the link to a photo resizing site for me???  I did not get it downloaded since the first question right off asked if I wanted 6400 or 3200?? something and I had no clue so backed out quickly.  My son said he had the "thumb driver version" that I wouldn't have to download to the computer, but to another thumb drive.  So happens I have several 32 GB thumb drives I just got to store photos on & he loaded & showed me how to use.  So far I have not tried by myself because I know I will get frustrated by not remembering all those instructions.  It does not have all the features of Paint Shop Pro but hopefully will let me resize that I can post now & then, over in Photos.  The wisteria has been gorgeous hanging from that tree down along the river so would like to show y'all.

Had visits from both sons yesterday & call from my daughter about 5:00 am laughing that "if I wasn't up, it was time!"  Nice gifts from all 3 and the gr-daughter with the latest great-grand, fixed breakfast for her parents (my oldest son, Andy & wife) & her own family & brother.  She is one great cook always trying new recipes & creating her own. Other "in town" grandson with 3 greats of mine, is with his wife's family in Nebraska to celebrate with her mother & gr-mother.  All 4 of my daughter's kids are visiting her over Memorial week end... they have 4 grands + another on the way so lots of people planning to stay from a few days to 10 days.  My daughter & husband are the best hosts possible and a huge house so everyone can find a place for a quick nap if needed.

We were all there year before last for Thanksgiving and I loved it, was like the old days when I was growing up, only on a much grander scale.  In the old days Mom would bring out hand made comforters to fold on the floor for a pallet, my daughter had enough rooms so with 4 extra air mattresses, every couple or single person had a private room.  Mom would fix a big breakfast that could be served until everyone got fed.  My son-in-law fixed omelettes of 2-3 eggs each, with a handful of cheese folded inside & kept them going until everyone was stuffed.  The toaster got a work out the whole time.  Was such fun. Yes, I did sleep in the RV with the cats so they could run & get exercise while I was in with them.  When I get out I have to lock them in the bedroom or one might escape when I open a door.  Had fantastic TV (electric cord to an outlet on their front porch .. curved drive separate from the garages. Great place for a big family gathering & know all of their kids will enjoy the trip home over Memorial Day.

Carol, I have a new bougainvillea plant so need to see how it needs to be cared for.  Don't think they can survive our harsh winters outside so may need to find a winter home for it.  These dark tinted windows are wonderful for keeping the hot sun out and cold away from the Andersen double or triple windows... in winter, but they are not what a plant needs to survive.  It is 84 degrees right now & the AC has not come on so far, almost chilly inside since I enjoy a cool house & let it get as cool as possible at night.... even to opening a sliding door to let the "fresh" air in at night or early morning.  Any wonder why I love the high country in summer?

Here I go, rambling on.  Glad you made it home, Joan, hope your computer behaves.  I can get so frustrated when they don't run right.

Mary Ann, I didn't realize you lost your father at 46, how sad, since your mother died when you were so young.  No wonder you & Norm were so close (not that you wouldn't have been anyway), but giving up the last parent is such a shock, I thought.  Also no wonder the boys feel so close to you since you had to play aunt, grandmother and surrogate mother to Norm's kids.  In my book you have earned the biggest star for mothering.

Ah, Callie, congratulations to Miss Emily & the fact that you had a front row seat to view. Those trips to watch graduations are not easy, parking lots are so full and even waiting to be picked up outside can mean half an hour of standing as the cars slowly stop & go.  You played it smart!  My neighbor was brought a crock pot with roast, potatoes & carrots yesterday & sounds so good I am off to Sam's Club to look for a decent roast.  I did look yesterday when buying a chicken for the cats, but none of the packs looked worth the price.  I don't like having to take a bad cut to get one nice one.... very rare to find 2 nice ones in the same package.  That is the bad part of these big stores, needing to take double the meat.  But their Angus beef is better than what I get at the grocery store right now.  I keep telling the butcher "we need to go rustle up a nice animal out in the Flint Hills"....  The hills were full last week as I drove through.  You could tell where they had burned, gorgeous green rolling hills as far as you could see.  The ones that missed the burn still had the brown brush from last year.

Hope all mothers and mothering ladies & gents (some have had to do the job) have had a wonderful day.... and pray all the children we raised have these wonderful people around for a long time (moi included!  ;)  )

Since no one said "sure Jane, we'll pray for Courtney's job" and it's really important to her and thus to me, I'm reminding you that I asked for prayers (whenever the thought crosses your mind" until her second interview on the 25th.  I know I can count on all of you so I'm saying THANK YOU in advance.

H A P P Y
M O T H E R ' S  D AY

I am late coming in with my wishes as it has been quite an eventful day.  Two big surprises...one expected the other one, not so much!

First one, that was expected is that our Austin Family will be relocating....we knew that part, but the surprise is that they are returning to Colorado.  Of course both sides of the family are SO pleased to have our kids back home again!

Second surprise is our last single son will not be single much longer...they announced their engagement to us today.  We are happy for them and anticipate a wedding within the year.  Mark, as many of you know,  is the head pro at a golf club in Arizona.  He will be finishing up his PGA status next month, and is anxious to get that completed.  Then they can start making their wedding plans.

I hope all of the mother's have enjoyed their day.  We celebrated with the only son and family here yesterday at their home.  Today they all came by with goodies for me this morning as they wanted to meet our new Kitty Smokey.  I was so pleased...Smokey loved them and they love Smokey.  I felt sure he would be fine as he grew up with little ones.  I am smiling.....how blessed I am.  Of course I had calls from my other two sons and my dad.....

GLORIA, the Boston Son said it was raining hard there and cold....said a Nor'easter was to be expected.  I

It is so good to know that you are home, JOAN.  I am sorry your computer is not working well.  Just take care and feel better every day!

Thank you, JOY, for the update on Bobbie.

Special thoughts and prayers for your granddaughter, JANE.  we know the power of prayers!  We have been played the waiting game many times with our family members as they reach for their dreams and it is always good to have others adding their support as well.

LARRY, I am anxious to hear how the Birthday dinner was last night and how you liked Jennifer's boyfriend?  I hope a good time was had by all.

My hubby has our grilled steaks ready, so I will say good evening to all.

Jenny

Some time ago I sent an e-mail to a second cousin’s son to see if he’d like pictures of his grandmother.  I didn’t hear from him â€" or his brother â€" and I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t hear from either.  Anyway, today I got an e-mail from the man; he just doesn’t get into Ancestry that often.  He gave me his home address and I’m going to send him the pictures.  His grandmother and my mother were double cousins â€" that is, they both had the same maternal and paternal grandparents.  Brother and sister married sister and brother.

Shirley, I’m not sure I’m reading right what you wrote or if I made it confusing â€" I was 46 when my dad died; he was 75.  He was brought up in the era when people could do everything and that is one of the reasons I still miss him.  What needs to be done around here can’t be done by either Tom nor me; neither of us is handy.  Terry and Tim were the handy ones, but Tim lived near Detroit.  So did Terry for a while, but eventually moved to Holland where he was near enough to help.

Carol, I’ve had pop-up messages about calling a phone number immediately because of some problem  with my computer and I’ve deleted the call because I think it is a scam.

Shirley, Norm’s neighbor in Florida had a bougainvillea plant outside under a window that was just beautiful.  She tired of it and had it taken out.  I bought a bougainvillea hanging basket many years ago and kept it in the house in the winter and I think I had it for four years.

Jane, I’m remiss in not saying I’ll pray for someone or something, but I do â€" offline.

Good family news, Jenny.

Mary Ann

Jane, no question prayers are being said, how about a quick one right now?  I have a gr-son that graduated last year with Bio-med Engineering & has a job he interned with & was told he'd get full time after graduation, but they backed out so they don't have to furnish insurance.  He turns 26 in July so needs to find his "big boy" job soon.  Right now they are keeping him to such minimum hours he is also working as a waiter evenings.... and that isn't full time, either.  Shame they get twisted around by employers that take advantage of them.  Think he will have to move for more opportunities in his field..... so I'll beg for prayers for him as well, these kids do need help, right?  Prayers that Courtney gets the job she wants!

No, Mary Ann, I understood that you were 46.... and I thought that was too young to lose a parent.  When I counted back I realize I was 59 when my father died.  Mother died 5 years before.  My father was like yours, could & did fix everything.... and my husband could as well.  Both of my sons are handy but one is quicker about getting here.   My bougainvillea plant appears to be vine like, it has a bent stick that it clings to.  I lifted the pot out of the decorative container son bought to put it in & it looks like it needs to be put in a larger pot because the roots are hanging out of the drain hole.  I never thought about a hanging basket, I think I have a macrame knots plant hanger from years ago that would hold this pot just fine for now.  Thanks for the tip!

Been a long, lazy day for me.  All the kids called last night & again today.  Jenny, did you ever think you'd be this busy when you were done raising kids?  I sure didn't, but somehow all their ups & downs & changes in their lives keeps me hopping.  Time to get to bed, all cats are outside, enjoying the cooler evening.  People were out & about all day, if anyone within 3 houses either direction is mowing, they hide.  Tom will take a step out the door & if he hears a mower, turns around & crouches down to get back inside.  So if they decide to stay out tonight, should be good weather.  They have eaten enough for 10 cats.... I won't leave the door open since they beg to come in if they find it an inch open, and I need sleep!

Good Monday morning, Everyfriend.  There's assorted mini muffins to accompany your coffee or tea . I wish everyone a nice day!!

CHUCKLES

Missing Parrot

There once was a lady who was very concerned about her missing parrot. Not knowing what to do, she called 911. "You gotta help me find my parrot!"

The operator patiently replied, "We can't help you with that, ma'am. This number only deals with emergencies." But the lady persisted, and then the operator told her not to be concerned, that the parrot should fly back in a few days.

Then, out of desperation, the lady begged, "But you don't understand! The only thing he says is "Here, kitty, kitty!!!"

Food For Thought

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
Matthew 25:13

A while back I was painfully reminded of Jesus' urging to keep watch. While I was driving to a meeting, someone speeding along from the other direction ran a red light and crashed into my car, totaling it and giving me my first ride ever in an ambulance. Thankfully I was not seriously injured, and I was released from the hospital after only four hours.

This made me think about how our life here on earth can end in a split second. As James puts it, our lives are like "a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (James 4:14). And we don't know the day or the hour when the Lord will return or when our life on earth will end.

Unlike the five wise virgins in Jesus' parable, the five foolish virgins did not feel the need to be prepared. They discovered too late that they would need to go and get extra oil for their lamps, and when they came back to the banquet hall, the groom had arrived and the door was shut. No matter how much they pleaded, the answer was "I don't know you."

The day will come when each of us will have to leave this life. Someday we too will meet the bridegroom, the Lord Jesus. Then all that will matter is whether we have been prepared by believing in him and by serving him here on earth. And if we are prepared, like the five wise virgins, we too will be able to go in with him to the wedding banquet.

Lord Jesus, help us to be prepared when you call us home or when you return.
In your name, Amen.

Thought of the Day

"The things that make us happiest are usually right in front of our faces, but we stop noticing those things after a while.  Today is a great day to start noticing again."

Good morning Everyfriend!  What a special day this is!  Joanie did her USUAL morning posting and it's wonderful to see it.  I'm glad I came in for a minute this morning!

I was going to pass the computer completely because I'm still getting ready for my "Mother's Day Gift Cleaning Lady".  I have to get a shower and get dressed yet and put the bedspread back on the bed and take some stuff off dressers and pick up dog toys and.....whatever I notice that I forgot about.

I knew you all would pray for Courtney but I think I needed the assurance of hearing it.  Thank you.  And, SHIRLEY, I'll pray for your grandson to find his perfect fit also.  I'd do it by name if I knew his name.  I guess God know who "Shirley's grandson who's looking for a job" is!

Back to "uncluttering" for me.  I've decided not to have her do the office except for the floor and I'll work on the clutter in here while she does the rest of the house.

Enjoy your day!  You too, Smoky!  You're one lucky cat!

Good morning, Amy.I won't be able to post "stuff" every day for a while because there is so much going on with Home Health Care, doctor's appointments and getting ready to move.  I am glad to read your husband is nearing the end of his chemo.

Janie--Good morning.  How great that you were gifted with a cleaning lady!!  I'll be praying for Courtney and Shirley's grandson and all of you.

Thanks and Good morning, Lloyd.

Hooray - Joan's back, or at least when she can be back.  It's nice to read our morning greetings.

I think my time thing below is out of kilter.  It says it is 2:25 and my clock says it is 7:35.  I know the minutes aren't exact, but the hour should be correct.  It doesn't make any difference if it can't be fixed; I just happened to notice it.

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie is back, Joanie is back, all is right with the world.  Joanie please take it slow and easy, sounds like you have a full plate so you don't need to rush things, we are just happy to see you posting, when you can.

Yesterday was a good day, the kids from Del Rio showed up at my other daughters house to join us for a meal and to help celebrate Mothers Day.  They didn't stay very long but what a great surprise.

I have an early (8:30) appointment so I am already washed and combed just waiting for some coffee, will try to leave by 8.  My wife also has an appointment with a rheumatologist about her feet and a hand.  They have been giving her a lot of problems, oldest daughter is going with her.

I hope that we get some rain this week like they are promising.....

C U later.

Joanie is back and the Soda Shoppe is on the way back to what it should be.  Take your time getting it all straightened out, Joan.  We can wait another one or two days...   :2funny:

Seriously, we have missed you and there's no way I could possibly do the job you do with the SS.  But don't try to overdo - we'll willingly wait while you regain your strength and handle all the other things that need doing rather than have you back in the hospital!

Thank you all for the prayers and support for Shirley's gr-son, Evan.  He is the one I posted a photo of when he graduated and he hopes to get a few days to come to Colorado to camp with Grammy & Dad & Uncle Pete.  We all know this may be the last year for camping for Grammy, in the high country.  I held up better last year than I expected but warned the boys I do enjoy sleeping while they go for a hike.   ;)  When I go out by myself I spend a lot of time just "chilling out", eating & watching the critters.  It is so neat to take up with 15-20 deer mulling about the RV, cats were impressed!  The kids don't want to have me cooking in the RV except for breakfast, they like to cook over an open fire.  I do go on about my life in the woods, sorry........ :-[

Joan, it really was nice to see your face & post right off this morning.  As much as we enjoy and missed your "tid-bits", we are happy to just see your smiling face with a word or two.... right? everyone?  Got to tell you it was a giggle about the parrot.... right along with watching these crazy blackbirds that are walking the grass carpet around the pool, searching for bugs for their babies.... with 4 cats laying around watching them.  I got out old "hootie-owl" with the bobble head so no birds this morning.  Okay, I notice you said, "getting ready to move".... what does that mean?

I'm thinking of ordering another hootie owl for the other end of the pool to keep the birds completely away when we paint.  Every time we have painted the pool over the last 30 years it happens to be mulberry time.   :knuppel2:   The mulberry trees pop up any little patch of ground that doesn't get mowed.... so "picture it".............  One tree near the entrance of our area keeps the sidewalk completely covered with purple berries, can't imagine why they don't cut it down.  Those birds love the berries but will eliminate them on top of the RV or any other place where it shows best.  My son helped me chop off some in the berm & we put that stuff on that goes down to kill the roots... absolutely gone now.  We cut them about shoulder high to me so the dogs next door couldn't reach through the wrought iron fence & accidentally chew or eat the poison.  The stumps just lifted out after they were dead.  I do avoid all pesticides & stuff that will pass on to bugs that are fed to baby birds .... we watched some young robins slowly die one year after a neighbor's yard was sprayed. Not supposed to happen, but it does.

Best wishes for your wife, Hal, for relief for her hands & feet.  I have been preaching to my kids about taking care of their bodies if they expect their bodies to hold up for these "golden years".  Sadly some things we don't have any control over, but better do what we can.  My kids were born in '56, '60 & '63 so at the age a heart attack or stroke is possible, and the same age that all are trying to prepare for "the rest of their lives".  2 of the 3 are retired with big decisions to make and realizing they can't dictate everything.  I do understand how you felt when the last kids showed up for the day.  One year we sat down to Thanksgiving dinner (always noon for us).... looked at each other, put the turkey back in the roaster, packed overnight bags for everyone & "headed home".  We got there just as all were ready to eat, evening was the big dinner for the whole family.  We pooled what we brought & Mom had tears running down her cheeks to have all together. Dad just kept grinning.  It is those perfect moments that we remember when so many are missing.  My mother always said that, "if you enjoyed life growing up you don't owe US, just pass it on down to your kids".

On with the day, supposed to get to 90s and that is not my favorite weather.  I checked & had neglected to turn the 'frig & freezer on in the RV so will have to wait until evening to make the fruit ice to freeze.  My freezer & the one in the 'frig are both full to overflowing & I got a big bag of oranges & bunch of bananas yesterday.  Everyone down to the youngest great grands loves fruit ice but nobody is willing to make it.  Not that much trouble, squeeze oranges & mash equal number of bananas..... stir in enough sugar to absorb the liquid (I like it SWEET), add water to make it as icy or fruity as wanted.  Have to stir a couple times as it freezes so the fruit doesn't all settle to the bottom.  Good & good for you!!!  I have some little stem milk glass sherbet dishes that are perfect to serve in.  I got them out of the cabinet to get rid of (set of 18) but gr-daughter thought they'd be cute to use for Hadley's 4th birthday party so the kids could have a scoop of ice cream & decorate their own ice cream sunday....  I will use & save them for her.

Have a great day, Every Friend!

Sandy, I've gotten used to no capitals with the kids texting.... & do it myself when in a hurry.  I only text when I want to send a photo with my phone... when I am out of town.  You are quite a trooper!

Hi everyone.  We have another beautiful morning and headed up to 90 this afternoon.  I didn't make it back in to post yesterday afternoon but read all the postings up to mid-afternoon and decided I couldn't add much to the conversation that hadn't already been commented on so I took a day off from posting other than the brief morning message.

I did go to Sunday School and Church but spent the rest of the day resting.  We had some ham and a couple of vegetable items in the refrigerator so didn't buy our Sunday dinner to bring home as I usually do.  I enjoyed listening to most of Don's Classical Music program and then watched the remained of the Player's Championship golf match.  A young 21 year old Korean fellow won.  What a difficult course as there was water everywhere including one small green that is basically surrounded by water.  It was amazing to watch these pros hit the water.  They were also fighting the wind, which made the course even more difficult.

I have done a few household chores, including fixing Pat's breakfast, and now am exhausted.  So I think I will pass up my Monday noon meeting and just rest the remainder of the day.  Pat is meeting a lady at the church and will go with her to the Spring luncheon for the Circle she belongs to.  This is the final meeting until September.  I am not going to attend the Men's meeting and dinner tonight.

When we ate at the Chop House Restaurant on Saturday we were treated rudely by the hostess and they couldn't find the reservations I had made.  Yesterday my Granddaughter emailed the manager of the restaurant to let him know of our experience.  He called her and said she wasn't the only one to complain about the problem on Saturday.  He said this was not acceptable and is sending her a certificate for a complimentary meal for the four of us. This has turned a negative into a positive and certainly wasn't expected but will be appreciated as this is a pretty expensive place to eat.

Joan, it was a special day to see that you are not out of rehab and back in your home.  What a pleasant surprise to see your posting this morning.  It sounds like you are going to be quite busy for a while.

Mary Ann, did you enjoy the golf match.  You would really have to know what you were doing to play that course.

deAngel, sure hope you computer isn't attached by he virus.  I don't consider stating how one is feeling or commenting about an illness is complaining as it is just a reality of many of our lives and the focus of much of our attention and time.  Would you have liked to play golf on that course where the tournament was held?  There must be something genetic built into us to straighten up before the cleaning person(s) come.  I do that in my office, by my bed and my easy chair.

Carol, sure hope you don't call that number as it is most likely a scam or something worse.  What a setting your had yesterday to enjoy being with most of your family.

Callie, what a nice Mother's Day gift.  I noticed our attendance at Church yesterday was up quite a bit and you could tell family members were their with their mothers.  I hope you enjoy the sound bar as it should improve the quality of the sound.  I notice the sounds that are annoying to me when played from the TV sound system as not nearly as annoying when listening with my wireless headphones.  That sprinkler system sounds wonderful and will help you enjoy your flowers.

Shirley, your family get tethers sound like so much fun. However, nice you can have your own quiet space in your motor home.

Jane, I bet Courtney will be on pins and needles until the interview and then for a while afterwards as there always seems to be a delay before a final decision is made.

Jenny, wow, your Austin family hasn't been down there very long.  I know you will be so happy to have them back in Colorado.  Congratulations to your son who announced his engagement.  Does his intended like to play golf?  Unfortunately our granddaughter's boyfriend didn't show and she was really upset.  It sort of put a downer on the big dinner out as she was letting that bother her so much.  However, we all enjoyed the food.  They had several very large parties dining at the same time including a big table full of black ladies who were quite noisy but obviously enjoying themselves.  It got a lot quieter when they finished and left shortly before we finished our meal.

Amy, this is going to be a red letter week for you and your husband when he has the last chemo.  Nice of you to thank the staff with the fruit tray.

Sandy, capitalization isn't needed and I certainly agree it would make typing much easier to avoid it.  After all the poet E. E. Cummings didn't think it was needed.

Shirley and Sandy, I can read lower case letters as well as upper case, so keep those messages coming, regardless of "case".  I am a "printer's devil" and can read backward and upside down too.  Shirley your camping adventures are always so interesting.  I camped with my Sunday School class when young, but "them days is gone forever"!

Joan, it is so good to see posts from you and I am happy you are going to go to Fairhope AL to be where your family is.  I'll bet they're happy too.  There, they can keep an eye on you, but also see you much more often and you'll be more of a part of their lives, especially Findlay's.

Good morning everyone, still raining and I did not have to look out to know it. Saw on the weather report we have had close to 5 inches of rain this month, normal is near an inch and a half for the whole month.

JANE  I pray that Courtney gets the job she wants.  That would make her life happy and everyone deserves to be happy in their life's work.

JENNY  rain has not stopped yet. Still raining but not as much. Thursday is to be a summer day up in the 80's.

MARY ANN  I had 2 sisters that married brothers.

SHIRLEY  my grandson was hired as an intern when he was in his last year of college. He is still with that company, all about computers and setting them up for companies. Now he mostly works from home now. To bad you grandson didn't get into a company like that.

JOAN  how wonderful to see you this morning and having breakfast with you.Do you have any idea how much you have been missed and not for your morning posts either? Love your Food for Thought. That is too true. Good quote. Thank you for all today's goodies and most or all I thank God for you being back with us.

JANE  enjoy the gift of the cleaning lady today.

JOAN  I know you and your family will all feel better living closer. Let them do the work.

Going tp gp lay down again. Hope this rain stops.

No, I did not call that number when the computer voice took over and demanded that I call right away.  No messages today.  We had a really fun gathering with all but one son & wife yesterday.  The weather was perfect and we could see Pike's Peak from their home (which is a 12 minute drive from us).

Callie:  Nice tribute from your children - they know what you really need when they come over to fix things.

Shirley - my notes on what you wrote don't make sense.   :D  I wish you the best when you go to the mountains - know you love it!

Jane S:  I am mainly a silent prayer person but do send my prayers for Courtney and all those seeking good jobs.

Jenny:  WOW - such surprises you have and that is frosting on the cake when son returns home.

Mary Ann:  This laptop has good safety on it but still that written and voice came through.  And, this is updated all the time - it just shows how vulnerable we can be in our electronics.

Joan:  Your family loves you and they will find a wonderful place near them.  Glad you are back.

Sandy:  I hope you are not having pain with your hand or at least being able to control the pain.  Our friends hand and elbow is much better with her therapy - still miles from driving or using that hand.  Wishing you a complete recovery.

Don is out the door and I don't have to go with him to the VA this morning.  He has an appointment for something we don't even know.  I made crock pot steel oatmeal overnight and added dried cranberries and some dried pineapple pieces.  It is very filling and good.  Last night, I heard a noise and got up and checked all through the house - nothing was found.  Then, I slept in late.

A good Monday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

My heart is VERY happy, seeing your morning offering, JOAN.  You have been missed, and not just because we missed the goodies you always have for us each day either. I am pleased that you are going to move to Fairhope to be near the family.  Take care dear friend and try to not overdo as you prepare for your move.  HUGS.

SHIRLEY, I agree with you in that we never expected all the goings on in our lives at this stage, but isn't it wonderful?   I always love to read about what you are doing, even though i am a bit overwhelmed at what all you do each day.  Congrats to Grandson Evan with the Bio-med Engineering degree.  That is the degree my Dr. Dave got as well.  I certainly will keep him in my prayers as well that he can get the job with benefits that he deserves.  How nice that he may get to join you all in Colorado...

CAROL, your Mother's Day gathering sounded delightful.  As you well know, we are extremely happy that our Austin Family will return home.  They both are CO natives and have that desire in them to once again live in their beloved state.  We never thought there would be a chance of them returning, due to job situation.  So as we say, you just never know what is around the next corner.

LARRY, I am sorry to read that the Saturday Night dinner did not go smoothly.  Good for the manager to make it right.  Austin DIL is the main bread winner for the family, and she is in a career field that will more than likely continue to take her to new levels.  They have been in Austin just over three years.  Same with the time in London and then back here in Denver...all about that 2 to 3 year time frame. Mark's Fiancé does enjoy golf, and has learned to love it more, of course.  They both love to hike, camp, etc. and do seem to enjoy the same things.  As you can imagine, if she did not care for golf, there would be no hope for a relationship!  😘  Funny enough, they met at a golf course where they both worked....she was the golf cart gal that drove the course serving the golfers food and drink.  She did this in the summer while getting her nursing degree.

JEANEE LEE, I ðŸ'—ðŸ'—'d your HOORAY welcome back to Our Joan!  Very special and exemplifies just how we ALL feel.  Thank you.

JANE, I hope your gift of a house cleaner turns out to be wonderful.  I am getting to the point that I think need someone to come in and clean my house real good so I can start fresh.  I just do not have the energy to do it as good as I used to, and it is showing.

GLORIA de, I am sure happy that your neighbors take good care of you.  Bless them.

I must get busy...the day is moving on quickly and I better catch up!

Worried that there is no post from you,  JUNE....  I do hope you are OK and will be in soon.

Enjoy your Monday.

Jenny

Larry, what kind/brand of wireless headphones do you have for listening to the tv and where did you get them?
I really think I'd prefer something like that.  This sound bar isn't helping that much.

Handyman was just here to advise about hollow sounds from some of the kitchen tiles.  His diagnosis:  earthquake tremors have probably loosened them.  Recommendation:  replace all of them!
They are the original builder-installed and I trust this handyman's opinion.  His estimate is "reasonably" high.  The biggest issue is the HUGE mess - and the fact that I won't be able to get to my bedroom for 72 hours while the tiles set.  Guess I can move into the guest bedroom - more "mess"! <sigh>.

Neat thing is that he will build me a cabinet to put on the patio for potting plants, storing hand garden tools, potting soil, etc.   Neither dil nor I could find anything on line that suited what I want.  This one will be "custom made".  He uses left-over materials from other projects to do this sort of thing.

Lunch time - and time to see what kind of weather we can expect later on.  Sounds ominous for the next few days.

My dearest Bis ! Welcome home !!!!!!!! Food for thought is something we should be prepared for each and every day. We never know when we will be the one next in line.

Joan we will be happy to give you all the time you need. Just knowing you are well enough to be at home is the best gift of all. Are you planning to move ?

Jane and Shirley, prayers have been said. All needs are now in God's Hands.

Sandy, you do so well with just your left hand to use in typing. You are wise to recognize the simplicity of NO CAPS…it will make typing so much simpler and we can expect to see you more frequently. I'm sure your beloved daughter is keeping all that you need, supplied. You are Blessed.

Bis, Now that I am settled in for over a year at Rowntree, I still wish I had taken "this or that" with me, but I didn't, so I tell myself, "buy a new one",or "live with the memory". When I left Hemet, I was not well, and knew it, so my mistakes made  then, I don't blame myself for now. Having God and close family available is the best gift of all.

Time change from night clothes to day clothes. I am slower and more slovenly every day. Ain't Life Great ?????? I love it.

June, I guess that's me too..."slower and more slovenly".  PJ's just feel better!

This cleaning gal has found a whole lot of clean that I never knew was there.  With my diminishing eyesight, even I can see the clean shining out.  She's running out of time so she's coming back next Monday to finish up the rooms that didn't get the DEEP works and give the rest of it the once over.  This was the best Mother's Day gift imaginable.

I went in and asked her if she knows that it's against the law to work someone more than 4 hours without a break.  She said, "When I'm on a roll, I make my own rules."  And BOY is she ever on a roll!

Janie, Is this a one shot deal with the housekeeper, or will she be a regular. If not a regular, I hope she will be available to you by phone in case you want to hire her for future work? She sounds like a "winner", with a good personal attitude.

Now that our Bis is home again, I will have to admit to today's work program... I have two boxes of ensure, and two different flavors, so I got down on a stack of pillows on the floor and lined up the flavors side by side, and it was work....just getting down and up from the floor. But it was an accomplishment, in my opinion.

Joan, I have no doubt your world is still upside down.  Won't peace & quiet feel good?  I am so glad you are moving near your kids & know it will be much more fun to have them pop in & out or you do the going.... will you still be able to drive?  So many options now driving is not as necessary as it used to be.  You've come a long way, Babe!!!

JUNE, today was gift from my daughter but Tammy and I have agreed on a schedule.  There were two rooms that she didn't get to with the deep cleaning so she's coming back next Monday and do them and give the rest of the house a once over.  After that, she'll do once a month just regular cleaning and once a month heavy stuff and any odd things like cleaning cupboards.

Now I have a question for you.  Why did you have to line up your Ensure on the floor?

Joanie, just sit back and enjoy all the attention.  It's probably way past your turn!  Just pop in now and then and say "hello".

Kiran's here so I'm going to go play!

So happy to read about your time with Tammy there and how well it went for you, JANE.  A special hello to Kiran...enjoy your time with her.

Happy to see your posts, JUNE...I was rather worried about you!  Glad you are doing OK, girl!

SHIRLEY, "world upside down" sure sums it up for Our Bis!

CALLIE, I have heard those hollow sounds on tile before....if it is only the sound that is wrong, are you sure you want to go through this mess right now?

Dr. Dave and Family came over yesterday to meet our new kitty and it went very well....Smokey was not one bit afraid and they all played with him and had a great time.  I felt he would be fine, as he came from a family with children....but one never knows.

Have a good evening.

Jenny,  a contractor I've used before came to check the tiles. He's totally trustworthy and I could see there was a problem.
These are the originals that the builder put in and it's possible that the old glue is wearing off.  Definitely time to Do Something About It.  His estimate wasn't really that bad and I know the work will be done correctly and without delay once it starts.
He told me what will be involved and it won't take more than about 4 days, part of which will be waiting for the tiles to set.  That's the only time I won't be able to use the kitchen.  I can handle that!!!!!

Well I went to my Primary care doctor today and he found a new ailment for me.  I am now officially anemic.  I have to go back tomorrow for more blood work.  Cant think of much more than can find wrong with me.  But guess it is still up to the good Lord what happens next. Sorry I am not in a very good mood.  So I am going to bed and call it a day.

God bless to all, nite, nite....

Hal,  so sorry for the new ailment.  You are entitled to a bad mood!

Thanks for the comment and link about headphones.  I went "Googling" and discovered that Wal-Mart has quite a few kinds of t.v. wireless "ears".  Looks as if there'll be a good choice - there or elsewhere.
I've lovingly told Son that he can return the sound bar.  It isn't helping that much and it's a nuisance to mess with.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have Pleasant Dreams.

CHUCKLES

Train Service

A passenger train is creeping along, painfully slow. Finally, it creaks to a
complete halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside. "What's
going on?" she yells out the window. "Cow on the track!" replies the
conductor.

Ten minutes later, the train resumes its slow pace. Within five minutes,
however, it stops again. The woman sees the same conductor walking by again.
She leans out the window and yells, "What happened? Did we catch up with the
cow again?

Food For
Thought

The Vessel
(Author Unknown)

"The Master was picking a vessel to use;
On His shelves there were many - which one would He choose?
"Take me," cried the gold one, "I'm shiny and bright,
I am of great value; I do things just right.
My beauty and luster will outshine the rest.
For someone like You, Master, gold would be best!"

The Master passed on, with no word at all;
He looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall;
"I'll serve You, dear Master. I'll pour out Your wine.
I'll be at Your table whenever You dine.
My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true,
The silver I'm made of will compliment You."

Unheeding the Master passed on to the brass,
It was wide-mouthed and shallow and polished like glass.
"Here! Here!" cried the vessel, "I know I will do,
Place me on Your table for all men to view."

"Look at me," called the goblet of crystal so clear,
"My transparency shows my contents are quite dear.
Although I am fragile, I will serve You with pride,
I am sure I'll be happy in Your house to abide."

The Master came next to a vessel of wood,
Polished and carved, it solidly stood.
"You may use me," dear Master, the wooden bowl said,
"But I'd rather You used me for fruit, not for bread!"

Then the Master looked down, saw a vessel of clay.
It was empty and broken where it helplessly lay.
No hope had the vessel the Master might choose,
To cleanse it, to fill it, make it whole, fit for use.

"Ah!" said the Master, "This vessel I choose.
I will mend it and fill it and put it to use.
I need not the vessel with pride in its self;
Nor the one who is narrow to sit on the shelf;
Nor the one who is big-mouthed and shallow and loud;
Nor one who displays his contents so proud;
Nor the one who thinks he can do all things just right;
But this plain earthy vessel filled with My power and might.

He then gently lifted the vessel of clay,
To mend it and cleanse it, He filled it that day.
He spoke to it kindly, "There's work you must do,
Just pour out to others as I pour into you."

Thought of the
Day

Be fishers of men - you catch 'em - He'll clean 'em!

Good morning everyone..

So great to come in here and see Joan's post !!! Please take it easy and don't over do it. Let others do the packing for you.....you wear the white hat ( boss) this time.

Hal, I can understand how you feel, thankfully you can fix that with iron pills. Hubby also had a new /old problem flare up and we went to town and bought a cane for him to use.Due to the chemo he had to stop taking a RA med and the RA is now raising its ugly head. Low iron makes you feel so tired and light headed so be careful when you stand up,do it very slowly.

Callie, I sure don't envy the job ahead of you.Years ago we did the same job for a lady and no matter how hard you try to keep the dust down it still gets into everything. Just keep all the doors to rooms shut and maybe lay a towel at the bottom of each to stop the dust going in. (Dust is sneaky )

Gloria, I hope your feeling better today. Any word from your son on how the apple trees are doing? Did the frost get the blossoms again?

Larry, that was nice of the restaurant owner to do that . I think the person should find another job that they can handle better.

June, hard to believe a year has passed that you came to Rowntree, my time flies!!

Sandy, hope you 're healing fast and I can understand about being careful on not causing anymore bodily harm. Prayers that your grandson finds the position that he wants.

Larry, there is one lady in the produce dept. that makes up a wonderful tray, it is all I can do to carry it!!!

Jane, what a wonderful gift to get and your wise to keep on such a lady to help. I would say you also could work and do it all in time past but now we have to let others help us.

Mary Ann ,hope your eyes are feeling much better today.

Jenny, kittens are so cute and so much fun, you will have hours of entertainment from Smokey!

Gosh, I didn't realize time was slipping by on me...

Joan ,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie, makes me feel better to see you back.  Your little joke about the train was one of my Grandfathers favorites.  It comes from a book "Slow Train Through Arkansas" which he talked about all the time.  He thought it was the funniest books he had ever read.

Got to go have some blood work.

Callie, Amy thanks for your comments.

Good morning, Joan and all the other friends.  It is just so nice to see your special morning messages show up.  Good luck with your doctor's visit today.

I  sure can understand how difficult it is for you to have to think about moving, but hopefully, it will be a good move and I know your family will be helping you all along the way.  I am sure your family will be glad to have you near-by, so they can help you out when needed.  Just take your time and don't rush doing things.  Take time out to rest in between.

It is a pretty sunny morning here, and the temperatures are supposed to a lot  warmer this week.  Sure have been waiting for this nice warm weather.  I am one of the ones who like the hot weather.  I don't like the cold at all,  so I am happy that it is finally starting to get warm.  We have had a chilly, rainy spring.

Hal, I sure am sorry to read that you have another health problem.  But, as Amy told you, help is available for that problem.  You seem to handle all thiese little set-backs really well, so, I am sure you will get over this latest hurdle.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Hi everyone.  We are headed for a very hot 95 degrees this afternoon.  Fortunately Pat appointment with the pain doctor is this morning before it gets so hot.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.  Pat did enjoy her Circle luncheon yesterday.

Joan, I know your family will rest more comfortably when you get moved to Fairhope so they can look in on you often.  Will you be moving into assisted living?

Gloria, it seems soggy is a good word for your area.  I am going to have to turn on the sprinkler system as my front yard is already showing stress.

Carol, from what I have read and heard on the news it is computers still running Windows XP that have been attacked over the weekend.  Apparently a lot of companies around the world have not kept their software updated and Microsoft has ceased to support XP.  Glad to see you ignored that scam.

Jenny, you are so right that we never know what is around the corner for us.  There have been so many things in our lives that we could never have expected. I am shocked that it has been three years that your son and DIL have been in Austin as it seems like they moved just a few months ago.  Pat had an uncle who was a golf pro at a Philadelphia country club for many years and his wife also loved to play golf.  When they retired they moved to Florida in a home on a golf course and after he died of dementia she continued to play golf for several years.  Glad to see your future DIL loves golf.  I hope you will find someone to do your housework so you can do the things you really enjoy.  We have had a housekeeper every two weeks for several years.  Pat tried to do it again when we moved but it was just too much for either of us to do and fortunately we found a very good housekeeper.  We find it money well spent and so enjoy having the entire house cleaned at one time.

Callie, I have Sennheiser RS110 Over-Ear 926MHz Wireless RF Headphones.  They operate on two AAA batteries and I use rechargeable batteries.  Just do a search on Amazon with the description above.  I was going to put the link in here but realized it is from my account where I looked up what I had.  I have a pair of expensive Bose headphones and I cannot tell much difference in the quality of the sound.  If I ever have to replace them I will get bluetooth rather than RF type.  Some of these come with a docking station where you can recharge the batteries although they are more expensive.  The RF headphones require a physical connection to an audio out port which isn't necessary with the bluetooth type.  My TV didn't have the proper port for connection and I had to buy a device that the RF communicated with and fortunately my son knew what was needed and hooked it all up for me.  I am sure this is probably more information than you cared to know but I sort of got carried away. I see Hal and his wife use the same type and he has provided a link for you.  Pat and I both have them and they are great.  The garden cabinet sounds great.

JaneS, so glad you are pleased with the work of the housekeeper.  So glad to see you have made arrangements to have her do your heavy cleaning.  I think we could well get by with every three weeks or even monthly but Pat is very particular and so it is every other week.  Pat finds it exhausting when the housekeeper is here and she isn't doing the work.

Hal, how exciting--a new ailment and I bet you were thrilled with the news--NOT!  You can't be blamed for being in a less than good mood.

Amy, it sounds wise that your husband is willing to use the cane to help him get around.  He sure doesn't need a fall.

Joy, I wish we could share some of the really hot weather we are having already this Spring as we have an abundance.

I was doing a quick read through so didn't take notes... planned to post later but couldn't help giggle at Hal's reaction to being anemic.  Having spent a life time fighting anemia and knew all the females of my family constantly fought the battle with iron tablets or B-1 and iron shots..... and had to smile last week when my brother was outraged because his doctor diagnosed him being anemic!  He thought it had to be a scam.  :2funny:  My brother is 92 and never been but a few pounds around his middle overweight. He loves to eat (like I do) and keeps very active.  How can you be anemic when you love to eat???  My sister & I tried to console him saying "it's in our genes".... and suggested all the foods we try to eat, that have lots of iron. So don't take it personally  ;)  .... it happens to the best of us!

Seriously, we have a theory in our family, that the foods we eat don't have all the nutrition of years ago, but we also don't cook in cast iron (yes, it really does make a difference) and in the old days, we ate dandelion greens in spring, along with endive, Mom always had a bowl of prunes on the table, all high iron.  My iron level was very low years ago & I had to try 8 different types of iron before finding one that didn't cramp my stomach.  Then I combined it with a bone meal tablet (instead of ordinary calcium) and the level came up much faster.  The iron carries oxygen in the blood so yawning is a good symptom for checking it out.  I read somewhere that a huge portion of over 65 people are anemic.  I didn't get the diagnosis until about 26, the doctor was so sure I couldn't be anemic he ran the test twice.  I didn't know I could feel so good and have taken the little pills off & on ever since.  I can tell by my eyes if I am low. Being in a crowd and feeling faint is also a symptom.... oxygen in the air is less.  Amy is right, stand up slowly & have something to steady yourself.  Good luck, it is, in my opinion, the best of all diagnosis 'cause you can fix it pronto!

Had much to think about as I read this morning but will save it for later.   ::)   Another hot day and I have some things to do outside before it gets any hotter.  My body is not liking this 80+ temperature.  Gloria, whine with me!!!  My preferred temps would be 65-70, and will enjoy evenings in the low 50s, thank you very much. (Loving the cold probably has much to do with NOT being anemic).

Good Morning all, up and attum' and eager to hear how you are all doing.I had a perfect nights sleep, 6a.m. I had my blood pressure taken, a nitro patch put on my leg, and the first pill of the day. Since I was wide awake by then, I did all my arm and leg and foot massaging. That takes about half an hour, then on for the first cuppa cawfee; , and an hour of reading and thinking about what God is teaching me.. that is sort of my favorite time of the day now, gives me energy and reason to get up and go. Enough about me !

Callie, it sounds like you are going to have to live with a mess for a while, but how nice it will be when finished. I wonder if perhaps the tiles were not installed properly to begin with ?? You are fortunate to have a handy man that is trust worthy and will build your potting cabinet to your specifications.

Janie, in my thinking YOU are one person that I could never consider slow and slovenly..you do the work of three persons, and joyfully at that. The boxes of ensure come with over 30 containers each, so Gary slips them into the cupboard on the floor..I have no shelf room in this small area for them..my shelves contain a few dishes, glasses, mugs and groceries. These boxes are too heavy for me to lift so they are stored on the floor of my cupboard. Gary usually separates the bottles so there is a vanilla and Choc. side by side, and I wanted to continue that pattern, and did..down on the floor.

Bis, my darling friend, it must be difficult to have the disruption of people coming in so often, but at least you are at home. And getting you well and strong again is the hope of our prayers. This too will pass. I am so very, very happy to know you will be going to Fairhope where the rest of the family are. I can vouch for the contentment I feel now just knowing Gary and Dori are 15 driving minutes from me. I don't expect them to be at my beck and call, but there is a security in knowing they are close by.

Jenny, I am so thankful for the days that I am "up" in body and spirit, but have learned that the body rules now…..not what I want to do, but what the body decides it can do. Today I am going down for a program at the club house on aging, and dementia discussion. I think it will be interesting. I'm so glad you have your little pal Smokey. I wish I had the energy for a pet, but I don't…..so I settle for a few plants. It is still something to care for and enjoy.

Hal, don't let the health issues get you down boy, you are tougher then they are. I find accepting what cannot be changed is better than letting health rule my life. God is still in charge, so keep relying on His Power Hal.

Good Morning BIS !!!!! What a treat to see your usual postings. I feel you are truly at home now. I love the Food for Thought. I feel myself that God created me, and molded me, and made me what He wanted me to be. It is such a secure feeling, to be in God's Hands.

Amy, it was a year in Feb. that I moved from Hemet to Rowntree Gardens. I still miss the friends I had made in the ten years I lived at Sunwest Village, and I keep contact with several of them. But we start another new life, and my roots are spreading down here at Rowntree. People are loving and kind where ever we go.

Gloria,my dear one. I am so sorry you had a bad night. Do spoil yourself today and rest as much as you like. Be sure to eat…you need fuel, even when resting. I am saying a prayer for you my friend.

I have to scoot and get dressed and be downstairs in 30 minutes.

Yesterday, I went to the Cardiologist, to day was dentist and next Wed. I have my last appointment I hope of the month. this one with the breathing doctor will be my fifth. No wounder I am tired.

Just a quick "heads up" for anyone that orders online from Puritan's Pride.  Had a pleasant surprise while ago when checking to see if they finally got my B-1 vitamins in (didn't get the 100 mg)... but they have free shipping today & tomorrow for any amount! .  I ordered my Bone Meal but didn't want the 250 mg B-1 and decided not to get the Pantothenic acid I usually take with my few pills (it helps absorb the others in the body).  I've been stunned at the increase in prices... but after checking health food stores, can't beat the price.  Now I'm rethinking the B-1 so going to get the 250 mg anyway.  I've taken the 100 off & on for years, since an old pharmacists told me to give them to the kids to keep mosquitoes away.  Works like a charm for my bunch, and it also worked to keep the shingles from breaking out again.  I don't like overdosing but maybe the 250 will work even better to keep the mosquitoes away.  I have put some in a ZipLoc bag, smashed to fine grain & mixed with baby oil, rubbed on the back of my neck when mosquitoes are really bad & my vitamins are out of date!  Not ideal but worked for me. By the way, the 100 mg was recommended for adults, 50 for medium size kids & 25 mg for the little ones.  I guess I could cut the 250 in half, right?

Gloria--Hope you were able to nap.

Larry--I have to take an AL unit until a 2 bedroom independent living unit becomes available.

Shirley--For your sake, I hope the weather in your area cools down. P.S.  I don't order from Putnam's Pride.

June--I keep my Ensure in the refrigerator because I like it very cold.

Hey there, Everyfriend!  I've been home from work for a while, gave the doggies a snack, had lunch and checked out my email.

My eyes are getting a bit droopy but I'm not going to give in.  When Tammy took the curtains down in various rooms to do the windows, I threw them in the washer.  Now they all need some touch up ironing before they can go up again.  I'm going to pop a movie in the DVD player and set up the ironing board in front of the TV and iron curtains.  I need to do the bedroom ones first.  When I went in to get ready for bed last night, I felt like I was on stage in a major theater.  I ended up doing everything I could in the bathroom or in the dark.

I also made a major purchase on line.  I've been craving a certain electric canner but the price was too high.  I noticed that the price came down a couple weeks ago but it was still more than I wanted to pay.  This week thay have a Mother's Day special that brought the price down to less than half with free shipping.  So I ordered it.

And now I'm off to do that!  Enjoy your day!  The sun is shining here but it's not HOT yet.

Jenny:  Glad for your very good news.  It sounds like it could change in the other way at the future too but I always say to be glad for any extra time together.

I am making clam chowder in the crock pot and it will be good as this day is cooling off.  Snow is predicted for Friday - we have no appointments so that is great.  Yesterday, I fixed Alfredo sauce with pasta and invited #3 child - he came to work on my bathroom sink.  It is perfect now - of course.

Jackie:  Watford, looks like such a charming place.  That bridge should have been saved just for the history - we  tend to destroy a lot of our history as well.

Good Afternoon,

So happy to see Joan "back at the wheel".

After "sleeping on it",   I have decided to put off the tile work for a while.  I'll need a lot of help from the family for various things and this is simply not a good time to put those duties on their shoulders.
The contractor will still build the cabinet and power wash the patio (after this week's Weather! is over and done with).

Janie,  I am so so glad you're getting help with the housework.  I'm very spoiled to getting that done every two weeks.  I use a Cleaning Service but the same girl has taken care of me for several years and she notices things I don't.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, Tammy saw a LOT that I've been missing!  My bathtub shower practically knocked my eyes out this morning and the lights in there are definitely brighter.  She even washed the walls in the hall because "they had dog kisses all over them".  She fixed the towel bar that I thought was gone forever.  She scrubbed baseboards that I haven't done in years.  She seemed upset that she hadn't made it through the whole house.  When I asked her if she wanted to come back next Monday and do the rest of the DEEP stuff and then give the others a once over, she was delighted. She told me that she quit the job she had when her grandchildren started school to make it easier for her daughter who works in a nearby town.  And she decided to clean for others because she likes doing it and she can set her own hours.  So she's getting grandchildren off to school, cleaning all day and then meeting the bus.  This gal has more energy than any two people I know?

Back to ironing the curtains....enough of this infernal resting!

Carol, you made my mouth water with your clam chowder!!!  When my friend and I would go to Red Lobster that is what we would have along with the ghee and garlic biscuits.

CHUCKLES

Holmes and Watson

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are hiking. They hiked all day long and then, having gotten tired, went to sleep in their tent.

Holmes wakes up deep at night, wakes Watson and says, "Watson, do you see the bright stars and do you notice how clear the sky is? What can you deduce from it?"

"Well, this clearly tells us the weather tomorrow is going to be dry and sunny."

"No Watson, it's simpler than that. It just means that somebody has stolen our tent."

Food For Thought

Claiming It Never Happened
By Fred Bultman

Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:1-4, 11-15 You are to say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."
Matthew 28:13

The religious leaders had the opportunity to interview personally the guards who saw the events of that morning while memories were still fresh. They could ask questions to clarify what those witnesses had seen. Did this opportunity strengthen their faith? Did the eyewitness facts from the guards confirm for the religious leaders that Jesus was the Messiah they had heard him claim to be before his death?

No. The Jerusalem chief priests were committed to a different outcome and didn't want to let little things like the testimony of eyewitnesses change their minds. It just wouldn't work that the person the chief priests had rejected, the person they saw as a threat to their own power, the person they had come to hate, the person they had framed, the person they had lied about, the person they had gotten condemned to capital punishment, could come back from the death sentence they had inflicted.

So again there was a need to withdraw some money from the temple fund-even more this time-to buy the silence and false testimony of the guards who had witnessed the events of Easter morning.

Claiming it never happened-that is not repentance. But do we do that? Do we lie to cover up?Holy Spirit, confront me again with the facts. Help me to get out of this state of denial, claiming it never happened, so that I can pray-forgive me, Lord Jesus, for I have sinned. Amen.

Thought of the Day

"We must face the fact that many today are notoriously careless in their living. This attitude finds its way into the church. We have liberty, we have money, we live in comparative luxury. As a result, discipline practically has disappeared. What would a violin solo sound like if the strings on the musician's instrument were all hanging loose, not stretched tight, not 'disciplined'?"

One can't help but smile in the morning seeing your posts Joan.

Running hubby to our Dr this morning then home to wrestle with the walls of the gazebo. Think the day will be good enough, not windy like other days to get this job done. No skeeters to deal with yet but the blackflies may want to "help" me..

Sandy, WOW way to go for Mathew and what an accomplishment for him!!!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you Joanie for the goodies.

Gonna be a pretty day here today....and a busy one.  I've already started to gather my things for the trip to State College tomorrow.  I keep telling myself "If Shirley can do all that driving, so can I".  We're just about the same age!  Actually, it's not the driving that bothers me.  At least, not the trip there.  It's having to spend so many hours waiting.  I'm taking things to do and I'll do a little shopping but I don't want to drive all over and maybe get lost.  I need that energy just to get home.

The vet has a nice shady parking lot and an unlimited supply of coffee and I'm taking my iPad and some things I need to finish for Junior Choir and Acolyte awards for this Sunday and my pillow.  There's a very large mall about 3 miles from the vet and I'm in need of some updates to my church wardrobe.

Then, today is the day my high school classmates gather for breakfast.  I wasn't going to go but I do have to eat and why not do it with good friends?

I work 5-9 tonigh and then I want to go to bed kind of early.  I got all the washed curtains ironed and back up yesterday so three rooms are finished.

I think most of my edginess is on Annie's behalf.  I'm worried about what they will find but I've put that into God's hands and I'm trying not to take it back.  What will be, will be!

Now I'm off to get a shower and get dressed so I can go to breakfast.  After I'm ready, I'll do a bit more gathering for the tomorrow's trip.  I have to be on the road by 6:30 a.m. And Mickie will NOT enjoy being left home alone!

: Hospital Bill...

A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store.
The store clerk called 000 when they saw him collapse to the floor.

The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency open heart bypass surgery.

He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Catholic Hospital .

A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard loaded with several forms, and a pen.

She asked him how he was going to pay for his treatment.   "Do you have health insurance?" she asked.

He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance."

The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?"

He replied, "No money in the bank."

Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?" asked the irritated nun.

He said, "I only have a spinster sister, and she is a nun."

The nun became agitated and announced loudly, "Nuns are not spinsters!

Nuns are married to God."

The patient replied, "Perfect.   Send the bill to my brother-in-law."

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy, JaneS, looks like you both have busy days ahead of you.  JaneS, hope the test come out okay.  And you have good luck shopping.

Amy, what is it you are doing to the gazebo?  I had my introduction to the black flies when I went into the bush fishing one time.  And they are no fun.

Well, our weather here cant make up it's mind.  It looks like it is going to pour at any minute but doesn't and the weather guessers keep saying "possible" severe t=storms. Thankfully they don't occur either.  But some rain would certainly be welcome.

Sandy, congratulations to your Grandson.  Lots of hard work ahead of him.

Hi everyone.  We have an overcast morning and it is suppose to be partly cloudy all day long.  The forecast is for it to get to 90 degrees this afternoon.  Our main activity this morning is to get Pat to her dental appointment over in Augusta.  They called yesterday and asked if she could come about 15 minutes sooner than scheduled so she will have to hurry around a little more than usual in the morning.

At her pain doctor appointment yesterday he decided only to prescribe Gabafenion as she has been in much less pain the last three or four days.  She is to go back next week for x-rays on her neck area and then see the pain doctor in a month.  It was about noon when she got finished at the doctor's office and we decided to eat our main meal of the day out.  So we went to the next pizza place in downtown North Augusta.  It is called Your Pie.  When we went in there was a long line waiting and we knew Pat really couldn't stand in line that long so we decided to leave.  The owner saw us go out the door and before we got to the car he called to us to come on in and he would get take care of us and that he did.  In this place you pay one price for a 10 inch pizza, select the crust and sauce you want on it and the type of cheese and then what ever meat (s) you want and choose from many other items available.  He took our order away from the line and found us a place to sit.  It took quite awhile before we got our pizzas but we were in no hurry.  I didn't pay right after I gave my order as one would do in the line so after we had been served our pizza he came to the table to ask how we liked it (and it very good as was cooked in a fire oven) and at that time I said what do I owe you and he said nothing because he hadn't gotten our order in quickly enough.  I protested but not too hard and as we left I saw him again and offered to pay but he again refused.  So we had a free meal.  Between the coupon to have a free meal at the Chop House in the future and our pizza yesterday this was a real red letter week. Tonight will be our next to last dinner at the Church and then we expect Scott and Jennifer to come out for a little while.

Shirley, good information on iron in our diets and anemia.

June, nice to see you have a great night sleep a couple of nights ago.  Do you use a grabber tool to pick up things from the floor?  They are very handy. I agree with you that acceptance is certainly a big factor in contentment and make that my aim everyday.

deAngel, I haven't had a cup of Ovaltine since I was a child and not too much of it then as it must have been too costly for Mother to buy it very often.  I hope you slept better last night.  I am beginning to believe that going to one doctor appointment will lead to two new appointments related to that visit.

Joan, glad to see your family is doing the brunt of the moving work for you.

JaneS, I have never heard the expression of dog kisses.  I like it and it is very appropriate.  Your cleaning lady must have a lot of energy.  Glad you have found her to help you.

Amy, do those black flies consider you a tempting meal?  Glad your husband liked the Boost.  When my DIL was alive she needed to drink that and prepared only one flavor that I think was clear.

Happy Wednesday day dear ones !

Sandy, Your Matthew is a winner already. That is wonderful time he made on the two mile run. You can be very proud of him. And I hope your arm is healing nicely.

Bis, I am giggling over the chuckles this morning.

Janie, I pray your long wait today will pass quickly. Sounds like you are well prepared. I can relate to your statement of leaving Annie in God's Hands. I had a realization this morning that I ask God's forgiveness for sins of the past, but then I still carry the regret around in my mind. How foolish of me not to accept God's forgiveness and get on with trying to be useful to Him, rather than being a droop that keeps fussing with past sin.

Larry, I do not have a grabber. Had one but seldom used it, so left it behind. I want to keep bending, squatting, whatever it takes to pick up stuff. I am not very active anymore, and I don't want to lose the ability to do things the normal way.
How nice of the Pizza man to not charge for the pizza. I am sure you will return again. I buy single serving Celeste Pizza and just pop it in the microwave..and use a paper plate instead of a dish that need washing. I have become very sloven since I do not cook anymore and don't have a full size kitchen, and seldom have a guest. Just me and my shadow…….

Our Chaplain is going to direct Bible Study this morning, so I will be down in the Chapel at 10 a.m today. Nothing else on the docket that interests me, so I will read and nap. I should do some snail mail…we'll see how it goes.

Have a good day dear hearts. I love you much.

Good morning everyone, got nice and warm yesterday and today up into the 80's.  My AC will be running this afternoon.

LARRY  soggy is the word for the way the weather has been here. I did hear on local news that all that rain was one thing  good to kill those gypsy moth caterpillars. Hope that is true. They sure damaged a lot of trees in this state last year.

SHIRLEY  starting today I will whine along with you about the heat. Right now the humidity is low but as we get more days of 80+ the humidity will rise and then I will not be going outside much. Will hibernate with my AC. 75° is OK in the day and 50° at night is better for sleeping.

JUNE  I know I have to eat but really have to force myself to do that. My best meal is my oatmeal in the mornings. I and fruit and nuts and seeds to it so it is healthy. I blame it on not being very active anymore. Even making a sandwich takes me about half an hour to do.

GLORIA de  hope you caught a few more Zzzzz while sitting on your sunporch yesterday.

JOAN  like you I keep Ensure in the fridge but have a couple of 6packs on the floor under the edge of the cabinet near the fridge. I think we are all happy that Joe and Linda are doing most of the work and moving you close to them. You are the kind of lady who always makes friends wherever you are so you will never lack for them wherever you live.

JANE  you sound like me with the curtains up in the bedroom. I always make sure my shade is down in there before I start getting ready for bed. Being on the third floor I doubt there would be any peeping toms. Never heard of an electric canner but wow that sure will help you with all the canning you do. Great that you can take advantage of that sale.

CAROL  #1 son called me yesterday and wants to take me to the shore for chowder and clam cakes tomorrow. Darn, have an appointment so had to turn him down. That is a nice ride there and I love the smell of the ocean.

CALLIE  I have had a housekeeper/CNA for about 19 months now and I am so thankful for her help. At times when she is ill or on vacation the company sends a different one, some are good and some are plain lazy. The one I have had since about 2 weeks after she was hired is like a member of the family.

AMY  those little black flies are out here, too. Try walking and you walk into a swarm of them. Yuck.

4 hours later. My CNA was here and then I went out for some air before it got too hot. Now I am in for the rest of the day and have the AC on.

SANDY  hooray for your grandson Matt.

JOAN  never a bad time for a lemon DD. I missed them while you were away. Good chuckles, Watson was not too observant was he? Food for Thought, no one can convince me that jesus did not rise from death. I like today's quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  hope those black flies stay away from you. Don't need that aggravation.

JANE  I hope and pray that things will go great for Annie tomorrow.

LLOYD  like your joke, I copied it to share.

HAL  I will be happy not to see any rain for a few weeks. By then we will need it again.

Now it is time for me to rest my back. Have a good rest of the day.

Good Afternoon,

The only stormy thing I heard last night was one rumble of thunder way off in the distance.  However, a friend who lives 3 miles directly west of me said she was kept awake for a couple of hours by wind and rain.
Today is lovely - but the wind is FIERCE!
While out doing errands this morning, I stopped to get gas and practically had to hold on to the car to keep from blowing over while I was waiting for the tank to fill (yes, I use the automatic stop - but don't get back in the car)

In addition to putting off the tile replacement,  I also decided that the sound board for the t.v. wasn't working all that well and was a nuisance to mess with.  So Son is taking it back and I'll look for some of the wireless "ears".   Best that I do the research myself  ;) and a Google search indicates that Wal-Mart has several kinds.  So I'll make a list of other things I could look for and start there.

When I came home from hair appointment and grocery store yesterday, the housekeeper wasn't here.  The Cleaning Service called to say she had been unable to get into the garage because the remote box wouldn't work.
I discovered the battery was dead.
That was on my list for today but I didn't take the old one with me - and, wouldn't you know? - I got the wrong kind.   :tickedoff:
Anybody need a 9v battery that isn't made for transistor radios?   ::)

Housekeeper came back this morning so, as soon as I get myself out the door (with dead battery in hand!), all should be back to normal <she said with fingers crossed>.

Sandy, what great news about your grandson - in so many ways.  Quite an accomplishment to be picked for the Olympic team.

Anxious to hear from Jane about Annie's appointment.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

I should not be complaining as daughter gave me her old iPhone 6 or 4, I don't know which - but, somehow it instantly dials a number  of anyone just when I do not want to call.  Cannot figure it out - Don is telling me to buy a newer one but I am a cheapskate.  It happens when I check who has called - the missed calls section.  Any ideas?  Love/Hate cell phone.

Sandy:  Will your grandson be in Colorado Springs?  There is heavy military there - Army is Ft. Carson.  Just down the road from us.  Training for ice skating is in a huge ice rink there too.  You must be floating with good news!

Gloria:  I hope you will have another offer for that nice drive and chowder.

Do vegetarians eat clams?  I just thought of it - Don has a friend who I am afraid to give lettuce to almost - my clam chowder has some cooked bacon added to it and I would not like to leave out that little bit of a taste so if he visits, I will have to make vegetable soup without a beef base too.

Callie:  More wind is coming.... sorry.

Carol, my daughter-in-law is a vegetarian and she does eat seafood.   I don't think that vegans eat seafood.  My daughter-in-law won't eat anything that has jello in it, as gelatin is made from bone marrow.   I do know whenever we eat out,  and there is crab soup,  she will always ask if it has a beef or vegetable base.  I have gotten to always have something that I know she will eat when they come to dinner.  I always make my lasagna now without any meat and we all don't even seem to miss the meat.  I, myself, could very easily be a vegetarian, as I am not a big meat eater and don't eat a lot of meat.   I do like a nice prime rib once in a while, and I like a McDonald's hamburger once in a while.  But, I could do without meat if I really had to.

Good Wednesday afternoon, EVERYFRIEND.

Just checking in to see what you all are up to.....  all I know is it sure is good to see our morning goodies posted by you, JOAN.  I enjoyed them as always, and thank you so much.

Yesterday we had to go downtown to our Internist to get our yearly blood draw done in preparation for our physicals that were due in early March. Oh my, time is just passing much too quickly!  We would love to get a doctor closer to home, but we are very happy with the one we have, so we just continue to go there for now.

We have been trying to do some clearing out of things we just do not need, and I am finding it completely overwhelming.  There is so much, and it seems the more we do the worse it gets!  Right now it is very organized in different places, and we start through it is like stirring up a hornets nest!  I do not deal at all well with anything beyond the normal daily activities....  shame on me, as I am so blessed....but I sure do not act like it!  Our home is at the age that everything needs to be done.... even though we have upgraded appliances and the like.  If we do anything, it just make something else look worse!  We have to do all of the flooring.....at minimum!  I would move to a new home in a second IF there were someplace I would like to live.  Do they call my issue RUNNING AWAY.

Enough of this...... I am now getting ready to go to pick up new glasses.  I have purchased three or four pair of prescription glasses over the past 5 years, and I end up not wearing them because I think I can see better without them.....well now I can't!  This time, I will give them a good try and if they do not work I hope to return them in the 30 day trial period rather than stick them in a drawer...wish me luck!

CAROL.... I am not sure it is a cut and dried thing, regarding if vegetarians eat seafood, or not....I know vegans do not eat anything that is not plant based.  I can not find where Jackie posted something about Watford... I would love to read it too.

SANDY, I, too, am happy for your Grandson, Matthew, and wonder if he will be stationed at Ft. Carson, south of Colorado Springs?

GLORIA, I am feeling sad for you having to turn your son down for a trip to the shore for chowder and crab cakes!  Boo Hoo!

Smiling at you getting together with your family tonight, LARRY!  Loved the story about your pizza.

LLOYD, enjoyed your hospital bill story!

JANE, holding good thoughts for you as you prepare for your drive...praying the report on Annie is good and I hope you really enjoyed your breakfast with friends.  How nice that Tammy did such a great job of cleaning.  You deserve some nice things to happen for you.  Congrats on getting a good price on your electric canner....

I I'll have finish this later....time to head out the door.....

Jenny

Old Folks

Dear Pastor:

Don't ever forget about us old folks. We are worth a fortune. We have Silver in our hair, Gold in our teeth, Stones in our kidney's, Lead in our feet and Gas in our stomachs.

I myself have become quite a frivolous old gal since I wrote you last.
As a matter of fact, I'm seeing five different gentleman every day.

When I get up in the morning, Will Power gets me out of bed. Then I immediately go see John. A few minutes later, Charley Horse comes along.
When he leaves, Arthur-itis shows up and finally I'm so tired, I go to bed with Ben Gay.

As you can see, we all need your prayers.....

It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.

A hug's a way to share the joy
As sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbor,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing-
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.

And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or special parts -
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts!

Thought of the Day

A Christian is a living sermon - both in word and in deed.

Good morning everyone...

Jane safe trip and hope everything turns out for the good for you.

Going to be another hot one here today...ended up 86 ° yesterday...went from freeze to frying!!

Other than picking up the fruit tray for tomorrow nothing pressing to do today.

Hal I put the screen, curtains and top on the gazebo. Yesterday I had it all up but had to take hubby for his Dr appointment, thinking it would be alright left it only to come home and find the wind had moved the top on me. That will be one of the jobs I need to do today.

Larry, the blackflies show no mercy as Hall will attest to. They even bother the dogs.

Sandy, that is still an accomplishment to be chosen...good luck to Mathew!

Gloria, it was fry time here yesterday with the heat. By the time I had wrestled with the gazebo curtains I had to take another shower before heading to the Dr.

Jenny, I too hate that job and went through a purging last year, only to find out I needed some things that I gave away.....oh well..

Lloyd, good idea, you have worked hard enough through time and need to slow down a wee bit....not altogether mind you just enough to give to a bit of free time to do what you want not have to do.You and

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, Janie.  Safe travels.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Glad to hear you are going to sell some equipment and slow down.

Good morning, Amy.  Too bad you have to do the gazebo job a second time.

Good morning everyone, already in the mid 70's and will be in the low 90's by noon. Too hot for me. I did sleep good last night thanks to the AC.

CALLIE  talk about things going wrong, that for you had with the battery. Great your housekeeper came back. I have to be here when the CNA's come, they are not allowed to be in homes if no one is there. Even if I wanted to go down and check my mailbox they would have to go with me.

JOAN  without the AC I don't know what I would do. Today the humidity will be with us so no sitting on the porch this afternoon.

CAROL  I have had a cell phone about a year and still do not understand the darn thing. Guess this old brain cannot understand new things anymore.I called my son and asked if we could take that ride to the shore another day.  Maybe after I have the next shot in my back. What kind of clam chowder do you make? Clear, milk or red(tomatoes)? Milk is Maine chowder clear is RI and the red is Manhattan. At least that is how we call them here.We used to have 2 amusement parks here in Rhode island and they had the best chowder-clear. I never liked the one with milk.

JOY  like you I prefer lasagna without meat in it. When I made it I always served the meatballs/sausage seperate in some of the sauce. I never was a big meat eater. Enjoy veggies more.

JANE  I pray today turns out good for Annie and you.

JENNY  before the summer is over I know Mike will be taking a ride to the shore so I a not too worried about missing out.

LLOYD  looks like you had a busy day yesterday, Then all your days are busy with you doing too much.

JOAN  baked omelets are something new. Bet they cook a lot easier that frying on top of the stove. Love Old Folks, I know I start the day with Will Power. When I wake in the mornings I hate the thought of crawling out of bed. Love Hugs, they always make one feel better. A big HUG   :hugs: for you. Thank you for all today's goodies and thank God for bringing you back to us.

AMY  same here, seems we have no spring weather anymore, go from winter to summer.

Time to get my breakfast and get going with the day. Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone.  It looks like we can expect another day like yesterday with some cloud and some sun and a high of 92 degrees.  This will likely be my typical Thursday as will pick up my friend for coffee, take him home afterwards and if I feel up to it go to the Church for the Wisdom group.  That will be plenty for today.

We had a nice dinner at Church last evening and a very nice visit with Scott.  Jennifer didn't make it to the dinner and did not come out with Scott last night.  Pat's dental appointment went well and she had no new cavities.  When we finished at the dentist we went to a new meat market and got some meat.  It was fairly close to where the dentists office but quite away from our home so doubt we will be going back.

June, we will return to the pizza place occasionally but not too often as when we go to Pizza Hut we benefit from our son's employee discount and it makes the meal very reasonable.

Gloria, it seems that nature has a way of dealing with problems such as the rain and the gypsy moth or forest fires and the development of new growth.  Unfortunately it often creates problem for man.  When I make up a sandwich I usually make up about three at once and refrigerate the two that will not be eaten until another day.  It sure makes getting my lunch much easier.  The same thing is true with my apples.  When I cut up apples I cut up two and store the remainder in the fruit bin.  They keep very well.  With the existence of all of the drones now being on a higher floor may not insure privacy so the use of the blinds is a good idea.  Too bad you will miss the trip with your son today and the good seafood.

Callie, that wind in Oklahoma that seems to blow all the time is one of the strong memories of the 2+ years we lived there.  I sure don't miss it as here we have little wind that is strong and a very light wind is welcome.  I think you will enjoy the earphones.  We have the ones that fit over the ear so don't hurt our ears.

Carol, when you look at recent calls if you hit the name it will automatically dial that person whether you want it to or not.  If you hold down on the name it will give you the option of creating a new contact or adding to an existing one.  I still touch the number and dial them when I don't want to do so on occasion. I have been reading that the new generation of iPhones will likely cost $1,000 or more.  I won't be buying one and hope the one I have lasts a really long time.  I will likely go back to an Android or Microsoft smart phone when I have to replace the one I have. I did discover last week when we went to the Chop House at the mall that there is an Apple store close by.  I didn't realize we had one available.

Joy, years ago I ate a vegetarian diet for a solid year and didn't enjoy it at all.  It was to see if I could lower my cholesterol with diet and it didn't work for me.  I love lasagna.

Jenny, moving does cause one to declutter quite a bit but it sure is hard work.  Hope your new glasses work for you.

Lloyd, glad to read that you have decided to sell some of your equipment and slow down a bit.

Good Snow Day to all.  This wasn't supposed to happen until Friday but here it is --- lots of lightning last night.

Sandy:  Your Matt is living a healthy lifestyle.  Good wishes to him as he continues to train.  (We have a Matthew too).

Gloria: and JaneS:  The recipe I make is the Rival crock pot one and it has clam juice and evaporated milk is added at the end.  The best clam chowder we used to stand on a pier with sea gulls swarming sipping a cup of very thick chowder.

Larry:  We have a Verizon plan which is best coverage for the mountains and this one dials a number even if I am just opening it to look at the calls.  We can get one for $189 and that sounds awful - forget about ever paying $1000 for a nuisance.

Lloyd:  I predict you will have rain - we have snow today.

Time to google "Baked Omelet" to check it out.

Carol, our weatherman lives in Denver, I knew him as a boy when he lived here in NY.  He comes on our radio WLNG, every morning at 6 and 8:15 He said you were expecting 6in.  of snow to day, while we would go up to 90.

Gloria, so much for Spring, last weekend I was wearing a sweater. I still have to get theAC uncovered.

Larry glad to see you did get out with your son.

Amy, You seem to have your work cut out for you.  Please take care of yourself also.

Jane, I join the others in saying safe trip.

Joan, you make my day just seeing you back with us.

Joan, I liked HUGS and saved it.

I thought about baked omelet and it made me think of an omelet I made in the microwave.  I was not using egg yolks in those days (you get used to disposing of them when you're not supposed to eat them) and used only the whites.  I haven't made it in years and probably won't make it again, but it was good.  I made it in a glass pie plate.

We are enjoying low-70 weather and the sun is shining - beautiful day!!!

I apologize for not being around much today.  The Visiting Nurse came and changed the dressing on the wound.  Than, a little at a time I have been sorting things and setting aside things I want to take to Alabama.  In between have talked to Kate.  My apartment is nearly ready.  It will be painted, and the carpet in the bedroom cleaned.  Kate has a whole list of things she's shopping for--for me.

Janie, My prayers are with you, and so is God. You are never alone dear friend.

Lloyd, do be careful dear friend. I will be glad when you retire and get rid of all that big machinery. I pray God is watching over you also.

Bis, I hope yesterday didn't take too much energy out of you. Too often we have to have this or that test done to us, and all it does is wear us out.

My day is turning out as one that tells me I need more sleep…after a full nights good sleep. I would love to just go back to bed and let the world keep turning on it's axis  as it does with or without me. But I will probably push myself to go downstairs, greet my friends with smiles and jokes and eat something I didn't really have a taste for. My word….I sound like such a sour puss.

Bis, what wound do you have ? I don't remember reading or hearing anything about that. Kate is a real blessing for you Bis, getting things all arranged and taken care of ahead of time. What is the name of the place where you will be living ? I would like to check it out on the computer. My place is Rowntree Gardens and they have a computer page.

Have a good day dear hearts. I love you much.

Good Afternoon,

After I saw the Home Depot garden ad in this morning's paper, I went there after getting the battery I needed at the Batteries and Bulbs store.
I got two purple salvia (gallon size that were on special) to replace ones that didn't come back this year - plus a set of six solar-lit garden lights on special ( today only) for half price.  Those will all look nice in the 3 flower beds #2 Son made last year.

All three local t. v. stations agree on strongly severe weather between now and Saturday.  When that happens - it's time to Pay Attention!!  So putting the new things out will wait - as will shopping for the earphones.

#1 Son came for lunch.  We had "pantry/fridge fallout" which he and his brother loved when they were growing up because it usually meant lots of main dishes and not so many vegetables.

Sandy,   I didn't quite catch what Matthew's Olympics status was - but I  think it's an honor just to be picked for the try-outs.  Did I also read that he will be at Ft. Carson in Colorado?   My husband did his basic training there - in 1955, long before I met him.

Carol,  I saw a Facebook picture of the 3 feet of snow falling on Leadville today!   I remember seeing tulips blooming through the snow in June when we lived there.

Off to be sure my "storm shelter cubby hole" in the closet is ready and my cell phone is completely charged.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

I know the place I am moving to has a web site, but I forgot the name.  I will tell you when I ask one of my kids.  My wound is the area where the feeding tube is hanging out.  It has to be kept sterile and covered.

Callie--Smart lady not to plant your new purchases with terrible weather imminent.

We're home!  The test has been done and now we wait until it's analyzed.  All he said is that he doesn't think it's as bad as it could have been and that he's glad we did the test.  So am I  but I really wish test results were available immediately.

I think Mickie had a worse time staying home alone than we did at the Dr.  She must have barked a lot because she's a little hoarse tonight and her bark is higher than usual.  She really doesn't like being alone.

JUNE, I reminded myself this morning before I pulled out of the driveway, that God was with us and that we were in his hands.  It did make the trip easier.

Lloyd, I'm glad to see that you have decided to take things a bit easier.  I think its waaaay past time.

Thank you everyone for your prayers on our behalf.  I'm sure God heard them.

Now I'm going to go put on my jammies and watch some TV through my eyelids.

Bad storm just went through knocking out our power...working off the generator now. Rain, high winds and a bit of thunder thrown in to make the dogs nervous. :(

Not sure if I will be on here in the morning  as we will soon shut the generator down. We are off to the city for the LAST chemo.doing the happy dance here......sure hope I get some sleep tonight but if not oh well.another time perhaps.

Jane, I too am in my jammies, just got my shower before all heck let loose.

Better scoot ...

Enjoy your evening everyone...

We are having the same weather.... (glub-glub).  Son & I spent the day draining the pool of winter yuck & spring leaves.  Worst mess in all the 30 years we've been here.  I just checked, it has a lot of water in it again.... :tickedoff:   I need to shower but want to trim the back of my hair first.... was a hot & dirty day & the hair gets shorter the hotter it is.

Jane, so glad it was "the best possible" news today and that the trip went okay (except for the lonely pup).  For sure you need a peaceful sleep tonight, worry takes the stuffings out of us.  When will you hear the results?

Lloyd, nice to hear you plan on "one more job" and then selling some of the big equipment.  Be extra careful because we want you healthy enough to grow veggies for all of us, please?!  I am anxious to hear what all you plant.

Amy, do we party tonight after the last treatment or wait until the week end?  I am so impressed with both of you, your attitude is amazing with all the stress you've gone through lately.  Sorry about the power out.  Our generator doesn't stay connected, has been in "moth balls" since we bought & used it about 10 years ago.  We don't usually have power out for very long, have a gas cook stove that I can use matches for burners, can't use oven because that requires power for the temperature gauge. I keep plenty of candles on hand, stored in the basement.... biggest problem is getting a heavy wooden garage door up to get the car out.  Best wishes for a peaceful trip.

Joan, I am so happy you are home and planning to move nearer the kids.  You are one tough lady, proud to know you!

Callie, so far only damage to all the wind & rain you keep sending us.... is poor "Hootie Owl" has been blown into the empty pool twice!  Fell so hard the first time it popped his head off & glass eye fell out... but didn't break... last time he fell in his eye stayed in place.  The birds are not afraid of him this year, they are so busy trying to feed babies they fly into the pool area even when we were working out there.  I feel sorry for them but not sorry enough to want them visiting & leaving a token of their appreciation for the bugs they find!  Yesterday I watched as they landed on the plastic "spacers" floating on the water during winter (so ice doesn't crack the sides).... darn birds riding those 20 lb litter containers as they scooped up bugs caught floating along the top of the water.  I hope to get the pool filled before mulberries are ripe!

Sweet dreams to all, God Bless and bring you a happy tomorrow.  Shirley

Looks like everyfriend had a good day.

We spent the whole day cleaning out cabinets, etc. today.  Sadly the trash sack was not very big!

We had snow during the early morning hours and it pretty much snowed all day long and will continue through the night.  I would guess we have at least 7".

Three local high schools had to move the graduation ceremonies from our famous Red Rock Ampha Theater to a indoor location and three more tomorrow will have to do the same.

Son Dave had to cancel once again the Boy Scout camp out planned for tomorrow night... second time in a couple of weeks!

I hope you all have a good night of rest.

Good morning everyone. I went to sleep and a loud clap of thunder woke me and then I heard rain hitting the window. Could not get back to sleep so what better place to be than here.

LARRY  I don't know if my son and DIL went today or not. My insurance sends a NO out every so often and today was the day they were here. I stayed inside all day because it was in the mid 90's. Too hot so sudden. My AC is sure getting a workout.

CAROL  hear on TV that there was snow out there and here we were boiling hot. Your clam chowder is what we call Maine chowder.

GLORIA de  my son put my AC in a couple of weeks ago when we had a hot Saturday. Our manager does not want them installed till the end of May.

JOAN  I love the way your family takes care of you. There are some in this building whose family never visit and I get angry when I hear that. Some of the family members only live a few miles from here.

JUNE  this place is on line, too. I did post the link to it before I moved here. I have been here now 3 years. Feels much longer.

JANE  I hope the test results for Annie aren't even half as bad as you were fearing.

SHIRLEY   you spend so much time keeping that pool clean when no one uses it.

Think I will go back to bed and hope I can sleep a few hours before my CNA gets here. Have a great day.

But it rumbled quite a while, not to hare but on down. Nancy came by ans said how much rain did we get so I went out and looked at the gauge. it was right at the bottom of the 1" line. good one and very much needed. God took care of us again (THANKS). Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning, Joan and all the other friends,.

Joan, you have a big job ahead of you, so you need to conserve your energy.  We all are just glad to see your "good morning message".   I am glad that your family will be doing most of the work.  Will you be able to make the drive there or will you be able to fly?  I know you  will  be happy when you are moved and settled in.

Gloria, we have the same situations where I live also.  There are a lot of people here who don't really have anybody and then there are ones that do have family who rarely come around.   I, too, get upset when I hear that.

It is a very pretty sunny morning here.   Supposed to be hot today and scattered thunderstorms.  My little great-grand daughters will be visiting me today and we are hoping to go to McDonalds for lunch and then to a local playground.  I am so looking forward to seeing them.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept straight through last night and I feel human this morning.  I called off work today just in case Annie needed something but she seems fine this morning.  She even did the  4 steps down to the yard and back up with no problems.  And later, she jumped off the couch.  I'm not going to make an invalid of her or turn her into an old lady so if she chooses to do something, I'll let her.  Funny!  That's how my kids treat me.  If I need it, they do it.  If I say I can manage, they let me.  If it works for an old lady it should work for an old lady doggie, too.

Mickie still hasn't found her voice.  If anyone knows how to treat a doggie for a sore throat, I'd like to know the remedy.  I thought of giving her some honey.  It helps my sore throats and it sure can't hurt.

Jenny, please keep your snow out there.  I feel for the schools who had to change their graduation plans but I'm finished with winter.  I need some nice, sunshiny days for a while and today is one of them.  I think we might have had a little rain overnight but right now it's mid 60s and sunny heading for a high of mid 80s and sunny.  I

Lloyd, I feel a little like Hal.  I'll believe it when you finally do sell something.  And I'm not going to hold my breath until that happens.  Let us know.

My good neighbors across the street came over yesterday to check on Mickie because it was so hot and found her panting.  So they called me and asked if it was ok to put the air conditioning on for her.  Of course, I said "Yes".  So my house was nice and cool when we got home late afternoon.

I called off work today because I didn't know what Annie might need but it turned out to be a good call because my handyman is coming to get started on my list.  Since I'm not sure when, I guess I better go get dressed because he's going to text when he's on his way.  And if I know him, he'll text at the stop sign up at the corner and he'll be in my driveway 2 minutes later.

Have a good day Everyfriend!

Good Morning Everyone!

Hot and humid and going to stay that way.  No rain here, North of us (all the way up into Callie country) they were catching it last night.  Tornado boxes everywhere and warnings of severe weather, I hope Callie is okay.  She is in Tornado alley.

We had a big fire in the area last night, a big strip mall (Ingram) looked like it may have burned to three ground, three firemen were trapped but they got them out. Unfortunately one died.  http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/ingram-fire-on-Northwest-Side-11157769.php?ipid=brkbar (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/ingram-fire-on-Northwest-Side-11157769.php?ipid=brkbar)

This is housekeepers day and she has already brought in clean linens and changed my bed. She will continue down the hall way doing the same for others scheduled for Fridays. Then she will return to do the "deep" cleaning which is done every two weeks.

Lloyd, I think the arrangement you have with your Grandson and his wife is a marvelous way for you to retire. I'm sure you will never really retire, but just to get you off that big machinery will be a blessing.

Hal, I am so sorry to hear about the death of the fireman. Those fellows are such heroes in the work they do. And the death of one person always affects the lives of so many loved ones.

Bis dear, It is time for you to just come in and visit when you feel up to it. Getting moved is a BIG chore and so many decisions, so as long as we can have a 'good morning' and a good night message we will be content. Besides all the business of moving to another state, you are still healing, and your health is the most important thing of all. We love you, and want you to have your health restored.

Jane, I'm sure some honey would be very soothing to Mickie. She must have really been frantic being left alone again and not knowing why. Poor little critters. Their love is so great !!

Jenny, gosh that is a lot of snowfall for the month of May. What is your elevation ?

Hal, Gary is doing Chapter 11 of the book of Daniel next week also. Gary feels the book of Daniel is one of the most important books of the Bible.

My house keeper will be coming back to finish up the cleaning, so I will say "bye" for now.

Good Morning,

Another round of severe storms last night but, fortunately, none in my area.  Just had heavy rain at my house and heard lots of thunder off in the distance. TV stations actually went back to regular programming after the line moved east.

On the 10:00 news, they were saying that Oklahoma had  "only" had 8 tornadoes - most of which were over open land.  I haven't heard t.v. news this morning but I'd guess the count will go up after reports come in from the east side of the state (I-35 to the Arkansas border by Okie measurements).

It's chilly and very gloomy this morning.  Glad I have all my doin's done and don't have to go out.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Gloria de:  I have written the word "weather" next to your name.  Now, tell me why?  Should not be reading & making notes while cooking and eating all at the same time.

June:  You have earned the right to do what you feel like - stay close to friends and family, and I know you will.

Callie:  I always remember getting out of the car and racing up the street in Leadville, then Don and I had to stop and gasp for air.  We had a good friend who was born and raised there.  Loved his stories.

Joan:  At this point, I have lost control of the children - they plan everything and I know they have been talking when one of them calls or stops by and starts by saying, "Mom and Dad"....and so forth.  Always thinking and we are grateful - I know you are as well.

I am afraid to check my email - concerned about a friend who was hospitalized on Easter Sunday.

Sun is peaking out.  The snow is beautiful but huge trees are leaning.

Hi everyone.  This has been an interesting morning.  Late yesterday afternoon our kitchen sink clogged up and so I had to call our handyman to fix it and he was here shortly after 8 am.  It turned out to be a clog probably caused by egg shells in the trap.  Then I get a call regarding my echo cardiogram that was scheduled for 3 pm asking if I could come in at 11 or 2 pm today.  I said I would be happy to be there at 11 and just got back from having it.  It was a limited one and only took about 10 minutes.    Our cleaning lady is here and will be finished before very long.  That is enough for one day.  We are planning to go out to eat late this afternoon for our evening meal.

I didn't make it to the Wisdom group yesterday as after going to coffee and returning my friend home I decided I was just too tired to go back downtown and try to concentrate for an hour.

Joan, happy to read that the preparations for your new apartment are going well.  It usually doesn't take long to paint and re-carpet an apartment.  At least that was the experience Stacey had.  Will you be moving your furniture or do as you did when you moved to Florida.

June, I don't think you could ever be a "sour puss".  Sometimes we just push ourselves to do things until we can't push anymore.

Callie, I sure hope you don't experience the severe weather.  However, it is a good things we can now be aware of the possibilities.

JaneS, I certainly hope the test shows that your dog isn't in as bad a shape of the vet thought.

Shirley, hearing of all the work your pool is sure makes me glad I have never owned one.

Lloyd, it sounds like a lot of progress is underway with the pending sale and getting things ready for you and Nancy to move out of your big house.

I haven't commented to quite a few here today but it is nap time (yeah) and I will be back tomorrow.

Carol,  we lived in Leadville from 1964-1977.  If your friend lived there during that time, chances are we knew him/her.
We played Bridge with Jenny's aunt and uncle.

June--You asked where I was moving--Homestead Village, Fairhope, AL

Larry--I am not moving any furniture.

The workmen are calling my name so Id better see what they want.

good afternoon, another hot one.

Carol, maybe the word weathers, means, I mention our weatherman, who  use to live on Long Island.  He now lives in
Denver.

Good afternoon Joan, I am so happy just seeing your name.

Callie, I wrote you about the TV Ears, that I like and have use for the  past 5 years. The problem is I put it in the wrong post.  Senior moment.

Joan.. you are wise not to take furniture...  Have a nice freh start, depending on your needs.

Callie, I am so very glad you had no problems weather wise. It can sure sound scary with the warnings, etc. But I know if I lived in that area I would be prepared. Like
Bis used to have a closet, all prepared for very bad storms. And I'm sure you are too.

Carol, thank you dear. You are correct, I pretty much do just what I want to do. There are still times when I have to take myself by the ear, and say. "O.k. do this !! While you still can !" and it works, and I am glad later that I did whatever that was.

Larry, from now on when I want to be a sour puss, I am going to think of you, and how you handle life's curves, and I will try to do the same. We both realize that when the body talks we have to listen, but we don't need to give in before the body demands it, right ?

Bis, thank you dear. I will check out Homestead Village. They are keeping you very busy there with all that "checking" on things. I hope they realize you need some peace and quiet too.

I have to scoot down for lunch..back later.

Joanie, I already checked out Homestead Village and my thought at the end was, "I could live in a place like that."  It looks very nice outside and the floor plan is efficient and pleasant.  I'm sure you will enjoy it and I'm sure your kids will feel better about your safety and comfort.

I just fed the doggies and I'm going to do NOTHING for the rest of the evening.

My handy guy got lots done today but there is still lots to do.

He said that I do have a squirrel in my attic but fortunately I don't have "bats in my belfry".  He's a good guy and I'm getting a lot of stuff fixed that's been bothering me but between him and the super-efficient cleaning lady and the trip to State College yesterday and not much sleep the rest of the week, I'm just plain worn out.  I started to take a nap this afternoon but the phone kept ringing. So no nap.

I hope all's well with those in the paths of storms (both tornadoes and snow) and I hope Everyfriend is having a lovely, restful and peaceful day today.  God be with you!

I've been away all day and it looks like still a couple more days.  One outlet i the living room has burned out - of course it's the first in a series so all those following are dead, too.  And that includes this computer and peripherals.  I have fixrd an emergency type setup but it's not really good or comfortable  for computer use.  So I'll be missing for a while.   :)

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:All done.......so nice to get to this point. We couldn't have got through this without your prayers,I wouldn't wish this on any one but if it did happen,I hope they have you all backing them up!! Traffic was a stinker coming home as we have a long weekend here but we are home safe and sound.

Shirley ,thank you for your kind words, all one can do is meet it head on and don't give up or in. We also have to lift the garage door up to bring out the generator to hook up to a separate panel. One of these days we may get one that is already hooked into the house but we shall see.

Joan , I like the looks of your new home. In no time you will have feeling like your home. Your family must be so pleased that you are living near them.

Jane, bet I beat you to the jammies tonight..with the storm last night and dogs making my bed vibrate not much sleep was had by anyone.

Jeanne Lee ,glad you caught this problem before you had a fire!!

Carol, please keep the snow there, you will just have to sit and sew till it goes away. :)

Bet you won't beat me to the jammies unless you were already in them when you wrote that.

Congratulations on your success!  Prayers that everything will continue well!  You both deserve a medal for your valor!

JeanneLee...get fixed up soon!  We need you here not over there!

I think Annie's stitches are getting itchy.  She's trying to reach them to scracth but I think they are out of reach.  I've been casting around in my mind what to cover them with that will be loose enough not to impede healing and tight enough to stay in place.  My sister asked if I have an elastic bandage.  She said I could have that as loose or as tight as I need it to be.  All I thought of up to that point (DON'T LAUGH) was a pair of cotton panties with the crotch cut out.  But I don't think that would stay tight enough with no elastic on one end.  Any ideas?

Jane, yes I was......and now trying to keep awake and not go too bed too early.

I used a tee shirt on Golden girl when she had her stitches, wrapped up the extra of top of her back and tied it with an elastic band. Maybe a toddler size tee shirt for Annie?? What about the leg part of pantyhose??

Bis, I think you will be very content with your apartment. You will have everything you need, without a  bunch of responsibility. My bullding is Independent and assisted. Gary was wise when he chose it, so when I really need assistance I won't have to move. Price goes up of course, but it relieves my family of care and concerns. And you are going to find a great joy knowing your family is nearby. I am so happy you are making this move.

Jeanne Lee, I am so sorry you have this problem, and I hope it can be taken care of quickly. You will be missed here, that's for sure.

Janie, I hope your Annie heals very quickly. You have enough concerns,  you don't need to be worrying about her scratching. I hope you can find a help.

I am going to close down and get ready for book and bed. We had to turn on the A/C today, but it has cooled down enough where I can open the windows for the night air.

Sleep well dear hearts. God is watching over us. Hugs and Love. June

Good evening.

We have just returned from our three grandchildren's piano recital.  They all did wonderful and we were very proud of them.  The oldest, Matt, has been playing for a few years, but Luke and Kate have only been playing for 6 weeks.  Kate did well with a fairly simple piece and Luke is a natural.  He played a piece that was quite difficult and played it like he had been playing for a long time.  There were 10 total and they all were so casual about the whole thing....it was very enjoyable.  When I played in a recital back in the day, every one was stiff and scared to death!

JOAN, it is good to see your new home in Fairhope.  I know you will be comfortable there and having the family close will be so nice.  Living by Finlay will be so nic...good for you and good for him.  I am very happy for you.

AMY and JANE, we used a "onesie" for our granddog when she was spayed....it worked great except for the matted hair it caused...besides she looked as cute as could be. The snaps on the bottom area allowed her tail so be out and it was easy to pull up when she had to go outdoors.

JEANNE LEE,  I am sorry you are having electrical plug probl Ms.

JANE, you have had a lot going on, so no wonder you are worn out!  Poor Mickie...she was not happy to be left at home....hope her voice will return soon.  Happy Annie seems to be doing well.

CAROL, what would the age be of your friend that was born and raised in Leadville?  There is a very good chance he might know of my family also.  As CALLIE said, she and her late husband knew my aunt and uncle.  It is a pretty small world.

LLOYD, I am happy to read that you and Nancy will continue to live in your home.

JUNE, we are around 6k feet here in Highlands Ranch.

HAL, it is always sad to loose our firemen in a fire...

Pleasant dreams to all....sleep well.

Good nite, Sweet JUNE.  ðŸ'— You.

Jenny

I've read all the posts, nodded in agreement, smiled & sent hugs as each needed..... but Jenny, can't go by without a "thanks for the memory" about those recitals.  My sister started piano before I did, she was used to performing but still didn't like recitals. On the other hand, I refused to perform... even refused to walk down the aisle for my aunt's wedding as flower girl.  I told 'em I would not do it after the rehearsal so they got another of the cousin/niece girls about my age....maybe 3 or 4. I have a great gr-daughter so much like I was, strong willed we call it now.  ;)

My teacher gave gold stars for each perfect play back each week... and I always got gold stars without ever practicing.  By the time I came along (#5), Mother realized we could grow up without her watching every move  and made us responsible for doing what it took.  Each week I'd play the music I was supposed to have practiced, get a gold star on the page, then the teacher would go through & have us play several songs we were to practice & play for her next week.

When the recital was looming ahead we were allowed to take our sheet music & didn't have to memorize the whole thing.  I was to play "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" for my first (and last) recital.   I played about half way through, lost my place & folded the music up, took my bow & walked off like it was over.  The large room was full of people but I had not mentioned it to my family, they knew I didn't perform.   ;) I never went back to lessons again.  Mother didn't push the extras on any of us, allowed us to be individuals.  I was never bashful, never met a stranger, but I didn't perform!  I have always been grateful for those lessons and learning to read music.  Years later I played the drum & enjoyed being part of the marching band.

My grands were involved with so many activities I felt sorry that they never had free time to just play, and the great grands are so occupied with lessons of all kinds they don't know what it is to do nothing, they have to be entertained constantly.  They don't know how to make up games or create something from whatever they can find.  Piano lessons was about the only extra activity anyone I knew ever participated in, no sports or anything in grade school, none of my grands had piano lessons, but we bought a piano & I saw to it our kids learned to read music early on.  Was it like that for the rest of you "back in the day?"  Times change.

CHUCKLES

The New Horse

A champion jockey is about to enter an important race on a new horse.

The horse's trainer meets him before the race and says, "All you have to remember with this horse is that every time you approach a jump, you have to shout, "ALLLLEEE OOOP!" really loudly in the horse's ear. Providing you do that, you'll be fine."

The jockey thinks the trainer is mad but promises to shout the command.

The race begins and they approach the first hurdle. The jockey ignores the trainer's ridiculous advice and the horse crashes straight through the center of the jump. They carry on and approach the second hurdle.

The jockey, somewhat embarrassed, whispers, "Aleeee ooop" in the horse's ear. The same thing happens--the horse crashes straight through the center of the jump. At the third hurdle, the jockey thinks, "It's no good; I'll have to do it" and yells, "ALLLEEE OOOP!" really loudly.

Sure enough, the horse sails over the jump with no problems. This continues for the rest of the race, but due to the earlier problems, the horse only finishes third. The trainer is fuming and asks the jockey what went wrong.

The jockey replies, "Nothing is wrong with me--it's this bloody horse. What is he--deaf or something?"

The trainer replies, "Deaf?? DEAF?? He's not deaf--he's BLIND!"

Scripture Reading: Matthew 27:1-8
Judas threw the money into the temple and left.
Matthew 27:5

What was Judas trying to accomplish when he threw those thirty pieces of silver back at the priests who had paid him to arrange Jesus' arrest? Did Judas think he could throw his own guilt back at them? Or that he could unload the evidence of his guilt-that noisy, clanking evidence he'd been carrying around for the past 12 hours?

But the deal was done, and the betrayal of innocent blood could not now be undone.
I believe that even Judas, however, could have turned around where he was and confessed his sin before God, and that God would have forgiven him-just as God has forgiven so many other betrayers who have come back to him in repentance. No sin that we are sorry for is too great for God to forgive.

But what had seized Judas was not a spirit of repentance but a spirit of remorse. Judas was sorry for himself. An old confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, describes repentance as running away from sin and finding wholehearted joy in God through Jesus. Judas ran away, but as he fled, he tried to ditch the evidence of his sin and to run as far as possible from God and Jesus.
Feeling sorry for yourself-that is not repentance. Being sorry you got caught, being sorry someone else got hurt, being sorry things didn't turn out is not the same as saying "have mercy on me, a sinner."

Forgive me, Lord Jesus, for I have sinned. Use my sorrow to turn me to you and your cross. Holy Spirit, please make the Lord, whom I betrayed, my Friend again. Amen.

Good Moring Everyfriend!  And a very good morning to you, Joanie and a special thank you for the goodies this morning.

Annie has had her pill that she takes on an empty stomach and we're in "wait" time for breakfast.  When the beeper goes off, we'll all eat.  I think the dogs are getting used to this because when they hear the beeper they head for the kitchen.

I have to go out for a bit today.  I need to return some books to the library, get coffee creamer, look for a tee shirt for Annie at GoodWill and drop the ribbons off at the church for the Acolytes Award Ceremony tomorrow.  I think that's all there is.  I might pick up some English muffins to make breakfast sandwiches for the freezer, too.  The past week has been so busy and I've been so tired that I've eaten most of the breakfasts and lunches that I had prepared in the freezer.  I have to restock.

We are supposed to have rain again today.  it figures!  We haven't had any for a week now.  I wish you all a lovely day filled with whatever you wish for!

I really pounded my pillow last night, felt good to sleep so sound.

Going to be a beautiful day out today. The gazebo top will go on today, a trip to the dump with a pile of branches  and laundry hung on the line. Might just squeak in some cookie baking  also.

Jane, amazing how animals know the time and even adapt better to the time change than us.

Joan, thank you for breakfast

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, I felt like a zombie yesterday. I di lay on the couch when I finished here and next ting I know my ohobe was ringing, my CNA was calling from downstairs for me to let her in. I did not get out of my jammies and robe all day. Last night I did sleep better. A cold front came in over night and this morning I shut the AC off and is is quiet in here now. Will be able to open windows again.

JOAN  as long as we see you here that is what we look forward to. Not just your “stuff”. Getting ready to move is a lot of work and I sure hope you are not doing anything strenuous. Just let your family do most of it with you telling them what you want to take. I wish you many good years close to your family once again.

LLOYD  glad you got the rain you needed. We have rain in the forecast for Monday.  Those with allergies will like that sw it will cut down the pollen in the air now.

JOY  I do feel bad for those whose family ignore them. Those people will be old one day and I would not wish them to be ignored but it would be what they deserve.

JANE  glad that Annie is moving like she wants and hope Mickie gets he voice back. She must have felt so lonesome alone for so many hours. I thought right away honey to soothe her throat but is it OK for dogs? Two days in a row we broke records for heat. Thursday and Friday we were in the mid 90's.

HAL  the heat with a good breeze is one thing but with the humidity climbing with it  is time to stay inside with the AC running. Sad when a fireman dies doing his job.

LLOYD  looks like having your grand daughter and her husband living there sounds like a good plan. You will miss all that bug machinery but it is time to let them go. As long as you heave your woodworking shop you will always have something you enjoy doing and less stressful on you.

CALLIE  glad you and your family were not in the path of the latest tornadoes.

CAROL  I remember when we had a May snow storm and how so many trees and flowering bushes broke from the weight of the wet snow.

LARRY  glad you could make it earlier for echo cardiogram.

JOAN  it is so tiresome when a lot of people come and go in our homes. I hope you had time for yourself to rest.

GLORIA de  we should enjoy today's weather after the last 2 days. Yesterday we broke a record of 89° set in 1906.

JOAN  which floor plan will be yours? You did say something about a 2 bedroom before. I would like living there.

JEANNE LEE  hope it does not take too long to get those outlets fixed.

AMY  wonderful. I imagine your hubby is happy to be finished with those trips and the sitting there. Prayers now that he is 100% cured forever.

SHIRLEY  “back in the day” we played out in the fresh air and used our imaginations for entertainment. These days kids are in front of the TV or computers and going to organized things.  How many kids do we see out playing anymore?

JOAN  love your chuckles today. Food for Thought reminds me of how often I wondered how Judas felt for his betrayal. Thank you for today's goodies. Hope you have a quiet week end.

Good morning everyone. Setting on the patio enjoying my coffee and visiting with you. Nice and cool with a little breeze.  Still no rain.  Nothing much on tap here today.

Amy, do you have to assemble your Gazebo every year?  Do you have any wild Stawberries around your place.  I was invited to some friends summer place when I was in Canada and the lady of the house fixed some preserves from Strawberries growing nearby, yummie.  So many small lakes in Canada, it seems everyone had access to a cottage.

Hey, I felt something fall on my head that was wer.  Hope it was rain
lol.......

Joanie, enjoyed the nourishment for the body and soul.

Gloria, hope your day goes well and you get some energy back.

Have to agree about kids of today, the all seemed to need expensive things to be entertained.  Even when out to a meal, they want some electronic gizmo to play with, they never just sit and listen to the adults conversation, as we did.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast and very humid morning as I found when I went to put letters in the mailbox.

I have been busy this morning and made myself a to-do list of things I hope to accomplish today and have several done already but had to sit down and rest.  I have fixed Pat's sausage muffins and they are in the oven. I have grated the two pounds of cheese.

On Wednesday Scott rearranged our family room furniture so that my easy chair is facing the TV, as does Pat's. rather than be to the side.  I was finding that if I watched the TV my neck started hurting so we put the divan where my chair and side table had been.  Now the electrical cords are visible back of the end table next to my chair so I need to get them hidden as much as possible as they are unsightly.  We have a plan in mind and hope it will work. I also need to bring Pat's laptop down and get the software all updated, which is not a hard job.

Last evening we went to the other new restaurant in North Augusta that opened last week. It is called Diablo's and is called a Southwest Grill.  It was quite tasty and I know we will go back from time to time.

Lloyd, I totally misunderstood sometime ago when you spoke of your pending change of situation on the farm.  Thanks for the clarification.

Joan, what is a semi-circle baseboard?  Is that your heating system? Thanks for the link to where you are moving.  I read through the information on the link and it sure looks like it will be a fine place to live.  It seems the rates are very reasonable compared to what they are in a lot of places.  I would never consider going into  a retirement community where I had to upfront a huge amount of money and the monthly rental basis seems ideal.  I sure hope you love it there and know being where your family will be easily available will be a joy for all concerned.  It sounds like a wise move to not move furniture and just select new items that will fit your new home. Will you have a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment.  The floor plans look good.

Sandy, I take it you have no A/C in your apartment building.  Keeping the air moving certainly makes things more tolerable.

June, you are right although sometimes we may push a little too hard.  My mornings are my best time so like today I try to get anything that involves much effort done early.

JaneS, I sure hope your handyman can get the squirrel out of your attic.  We went through a bout with them over 20 years ago and they can sure do a lot of damage.  Glad you are getting things fixed.  Please take care of yourself and get rested up as you have been under a lot of stress.

Amy, so happy for your husband and you that those trips for chemo are finished.  Do you get frequent electrical outages.

Jenny, I well remember the piano recitals I played in for the seven years I took piano.  I think I was always nervous.  With three youngsters practicing the piano it sounds like the instrument gets a lot of use.  Is it possible for a grandparent to hear a sour note--I wonder!  :)

Shirley, I bet you were a pistol when you were little.  What am I saying I bet that really hasn't changed and good for you.  You march to your own drummer and nothing wrong with that.   My sister and I both had hour lessons and it cost fifty cents each.  Sometimes I think it was about the only time my mother could stop working when she took us and rested while we had our lessons.  The piano is my favorite instrument but seldom play it anymore.

Gloria, our humidity this morning is really high and we supposedly have 90% change of rain tomorrow and 100% on Monday.  I sure hope the weatherman is correct.  It is a same we don't see kids out playing very often.  Our former neighbor across the street has two boys and they were often out playing in the driveway or the street and I really liked to see that.

Hal, I am shocked when I see the price of toys for kids.  My great grandchildren get so many gifts at Christmas that it looks like a blizzard of wrapping paper.  I well remember we would get one main gift like an erector set, a new box of crayons or truck and maybe three or four smaller gifts plus a stocking with some candy an orange and maybe some very small items. When our children came along we didn't overdo at Christmas for them and they certainly didn't get everything they said they wanted.

Sandy:  Before I forget, I saw an article about using fans almost as good as an air conditioner & the picture showed a box fan flat on the floor.  Can't find the item but I wonder if that is a new way to move the air?  You could put it at a slant perhaps?

Callie and Jenny:  Ray Kitt was born and raised in Leadville.  He and Ann lived in Denver when we met them - I think they were born in the 30's well before us.

Amy: You are a good example to me - I went downstairs and did some more intricate (to me) sewing yesterday and quit when I finished one little piece of the pattern.  It just looks daunting overall.  It sounds like you are handling things very well.

Joan:  The places all look so nice and easy living too.  Best of all, you will be closer to family.

Jenny:  Love those grands - I know you do and so do I.  A granddaughter is flying back from Portland today and one grandson is driving from Minnesota.  We are awaiting reports.

Larry:   Isn't it the pits when you do one little different movement and aches and pain follow?  Glad you are setting things right.  Take care you two!

There is still snow on the ground but roads are now dry - icy last night.  There are two new birds nests - one in front in an ironwork item and one in back under the staircase.  One will be the same Robin - the nest looks just like last year.

That is all from Highlands Ranch - the Ranch is no more.  We do take a walk in a park area where Swiss farmers  would take their cheese to market and the trips covered several days by wagon.  Now, we have to drive a ways to see cattle or horses but there is still some open space.

Good morning.....sun is shinnng and it is to start warming up!  The snow is melting quickly!  It is still predicted to freeze tonight.  Will have to keep plants wrapped and ones that can be brought in will be!

LARRY, absolutely not.....no way can we possible hear a sour note!  I had to chuckle at a piano lesson being 50 cents!  Currently, each lesson for the grands requires an extra zero behind your 50 cents!

SHIRLEY, now days every second of a child's life is scheduled for them, and I find it very sad.  The schedules are so tight that choices have to be made constantly of what to do when commitments over lap!  Pitiful is what it is!  Had to smile as I read about your days of performing.  Need I say it did not surprise me one bit!😜 Love you!

Thank you, JOAN, for the enjoyable offerings for today.  It is so good to have you back!

CAROL, of course I know exactly how it is to wait for word of how our traveling family is doing!  Aren't we blessed to have that in our lives?  Do you know what Ray Kitt did for a living in Leadville?  More than likely he had something to do with mining, but maybe not?  I will ask my dad if he might remember him.

I am so happy with our Smokey.  He has settled in very nicely and we are sure happy to have him.  He now seems to show that he is MY cat, rather than Bob's.  He pays attention to both of us, but seems to want to spend more time on MY lap and he cuddles with me at night.  😸

🇺🇸 Today is Armed Forces Day.  🇺🇸   We have always attended open houses at military bases and watched fly overs, etc.  Sadly, I do not know of any here to go see😪

Enjoy you SaturdayEVERYFRIEND 😍

It must be time to say "Good Afternoon" because I just heard the usual Saturday straight-up-noon test of the warning sirens.  The sun is shining or they wouldn't be tested.

So far, this is an "Upside/Downside" day.

Upside:   The annual Neighborhood Yard Tour is this evening from 5:00 - 7:00.  Since the neighbors on either side of me put their back yards on the tour, I also put mine on. I put new lights in the flower beds yesterday morning  and they all came on last night, even though it was really cloudy all day.

Downside:  When I started to take a shower last night,  I discovered I had no hot water.

Upside:  Repair person arrived soon after my call this morning.

Downside:  As I suspected, I need a new water heater and have to wait until Monday for installation.

Upside:  That's already scheduled and the new system will be much more efficient and "earthquake resistant".
Also - because of the water issues in the country home in which I grew up,  I can manage with kettles of boiling water until Monday.

Carol,  We didn't know anyone in Leadville named Kitt.  However,  "born in the 30's is not "way before" me.  I was born in 1935.   ;D

Everything in the yard is ready for visitors except sweeping the patio;.  Will do that this afternoon so I don't have to do it twice.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Nurse and lady that does my grocery shopping have come and gone.  I am making piles of things I want to be packed for shipping.  For those who asked, I believe my apartment is 2 bedroom.  Joe signed the lease.

I am home for the day. Blood pressure was 184 at six o'clock this morning, and that was sour grapes to start the day with. I decided to thumb my nose at it and go about the day as usual, but the body didn't agree, so around ten o'clock I changed into comfortable relaxing clothes and am staying at home. A good choice.

Bis, Food for  Thought throws a new light on being sorry for sin, for sure. It will be nice to have a spare bedroom Bis. That way if family wants to spend the night the opportunity will be there, and in the meantime, you will have a place for an over-flow of "stuff". Now when Dan and Nancy come down from Santa Cruz, they stay with Gary and Dori. Isn't it a great comfort to have Joe and others making decisions for you ? I love it !

Gloria, I am doing your "Zombie thing" today. I am completely worthless, and just accepting it.Too tired to fight it.

Callie, our here the "earthquake resistant" was metal strapping that went around the water heater, and then secured to the walls of water heater closet. It is a good plan.

Bis, I do hope you take rest periods during your choosing of stuff to ship, and as long as you will have extra space in the second bedroom, if you have a question of "take it or leave it", Take it ! You can always dispose of it later if it is not needed. At the same time, if you wish you had not taken something and wished you had….there is still good old Amazon, no matter where you live.

I'm going to go put a frozen Marie Calendar Chicken pie in the Microwave, and that will be the main meal of the day, plus some fruit..apple sauce or diced pears.

Hello again, Everyfriend!  It sounds like you've all been busy "being friendly" with one another.  I only have a minute because Mickie is getting her voice back and she says it's suppertime.

I did some errands today and the putzed around the house a bit and I was feeling tired so I checked the couch out for zzzzs and by darn, there they were.  I pulled Isabel's afghan over me and that was it.  I was gone for 2 hours.  At first I felt a bit washed out when I woke up but I feel pretty chipper right now.

Enjoy your evening, Everyfriend!

Carol and Sandy, I wonder about putting a box fan flat on the floor.  The air is brought in from the back of the fan and if the fan is flat, it might not be able to draw enough air to cool the room.  I have a hassock fan that I can adjust the position and there is space between the floor and the fan.  If you do put the fan on the floor, maybe you can put a book or two under the fan to raise it.

Jenny and Shirley, today there are so many more things for kids to do, some quite tempting but not necessarily good for them, that it  behooves parents to try to pick worthwhile activities.  My cousin’s DIL kept her kids busy so they would not get into trouble.  They did not have time to get into trouble and they turned out to be very nice adults.

Callie, I had a similar experience one time when going to take a shower.  I was more lucky than you because all I needed was a thermocouple to start things going again.  When I did need a water heater it was because the WH leaked.

June, 184 blood pressure is nothing to ignore.  What was the lower figure?

Joan, the floor plans of the apartments look very efficient.  I think you will be very happy living near your family.  You should see them more often and vice versa.

Dot’s new glasses have not come yet so she still cannot drive.  Therefore, we will not be going to church tomorrow.

Jane, it's good to hear Mickie's voice is coming back.  It must have been frustrating to her.

Mary Ann
your post was not to me / but if you do not have the fan propped high enough so it can freely draw air it will over heat and burn it's self out and could cause a fire. not quite sure what you are trying to do. we have ceiling fans in in most every room . they have revers switches on them. they can be set to move air up or down as desired. hot air rises up on its own.  winter when we have them on turning up draws the cold air up off of the flower and out and down the walls   and makes the room warmer and more even temperature. hope this helps. some times have them on slower speed so doesn't make a draft on you but room more comfey. have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up a bit early but that's OK.  Today is church day and maybe I won't have to rush.  Also have to straighten up for my human dynamo cleaning lady tomorrow.  She's going to finish the deep cleaning that she didn't get to and then give the rest a once over.  After that, we're goint try a twice a month thing until we see how the time an money go.

I didn't realize it but it's actually beginning to be daylight around 5 a.m.  Not light enough for this old lady to drive but light enough that I don't have to turn the outside light on for the doggies.

I guess I better get started on what I have to do this morning.  Have a lovely day Everyfriend.  Don't do anything you don't feel like doing!

Good morning everyone.

Over cast here and they are calling for rain. I did hear some fireworks going off last night but not the big bang ones that scare the girls, hope tonight will be the same.

I did manage to wash floors yesterday only after I found some  of Janie's zzzz's  2 hours worth of them!!! Didn't get my baking done but  may try to do some after VON leaves today.

Hal, the frame work is left up over winter, it is just the canvas top and sides I have to put on/up.

Larry, no we don't get too many but even one is an inconvenience. This last outage was caused by wind damage and some folks were still without power yesterday. We were lucky ours came back on Thur night.

Jenny, I loved the idea of a "onesie" not sure they come in the size I would need as my girl is 85 lbs! Will keep that in mind though to tell others with a smaller dog.

Carol, I hope you post a photo of your quilt when done.Daughter in love is putting borders on one of hers and she is mitering the corners!

June, hope your BP is a better number this morning.

Gloria, thank you for your prayers, we just heard that a friend of ours is back taking more chemo..hers came back. Hope you had a good nights sleep last night.

Callie, we can get through times like this but how would some of the younger generation handle it? Cooking from scratch is also another one that some can't or won't do too.

Mary Ann, I agree with Lloyd make sure you have good air flow under your fan..maybe set in on 4 chairs if you can.

Jane, a robin starts singing every morning at 4'30 ish.....and sings its heart out, right outside my bedroom window. I do try to ignore but it is loud.

Joan, good morning.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Sunday morning Everyfriend.  I am sorry I have no graphic or "stuff".  That will have to wait until after I move.  I wish you  blessed day.

Janie--Good morning.  My cleaning people are going to have a huge job to do this time after the flood and painting.

Good morning Amy.  They are predicting rain here mid-week.  I sure hope they are right.

Lloyd and Amy, it wasn't for myself that I was mentioning the fan on the floor.  Someone suggested it to Sandy and I said something should be put under the fan to give it some air intake.  I have a hassock fan that can be adjusted to face in any direction to distribute the air.  Thank you both for your advice and I hope Sandy sees it.

Dot still is not able to drive, so we are not going to church or OTB this morning.  Tuesday I am leaving for Indps and will return Saturday but I don't know how I will feel Sunday as to whether I want to go to church or not.  I will be quite active this time in Indps as I will go to the rehearsal dinner, then the wedding and reception following.  That's a lot of activity for an old lady!

We had a storm go through about a half hour ago and now it looks as if the rain will leave the area and things will be clear.  Maybe the rain is headed toward Amy.

Maybe I can still help a little, Joan, until you get settled, with a  graphic now and then to start a new week.  HERE (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=363.msg86082#msg86082)
