It was yesterday, Janie, and I was hoping no one would notice!   ;D  Never too late, though, for good wishes or to celebrate.

Actually, I spent most of the day putting together a grocery order and making arrangements for it to be picked up by a neighbor.   >:(

Good morning everyone, good night for sleping, in the 50's and no AC running. I see the pain doctor later, hope the shot helps this time, if not I don't think I will have anymore.

LARRY  even math taught in the primary schools has changed, at least in Ca. We were taught 2+2=4. My daughter was telling me that they had a very round about way of getting the 4 now.She could not help the kids with what they were being taught. That politally correct is stupid when it comes to rewriting our history.

JEANNE  how about during WW2 when headlights on cars had the top part black so as not to show light from above.

JANE  my Dad was pretty good at repairing shoes so they would last a bit longer and I wore my share of hand me down shoes that my sister outgrew.

GLORIA de  I made a lot of jelly and jam and canned different fruit and of course bushels of tomatoes.

HAL  you sure had a busy day yesterday.

I agree, I wish someone would let us know about Joan. It has been too long with no word.

LLOYD  every thing but the seeds of an apple can be used for something.  I have done it.

JEANNE  LEE  Happy Belated Birthday :hb2: :hb3:  :hb2:

I wish everyone a great day.
we got .5 rain last night, instant weather says 67 º now but going to sunny and 90 º today. Hope they miss the last part. it is over cast light breeze and feels great out on the deck now.

Hi everyone. It looks like we are in for another low 90's day but do have some chance of rain later today and for the next several days.  I will go to the men's coffee this morning after picking up my friend at the assisted living facility.  I am not going to attend the Wisdom group at church as have several other things to accomplish this morning and just have limited energy.

Yesterday the builder brought and put down a block of sod over the exposed irrigation pipe in the back yard which I certainly appreciated.  Late yesterday afternoon Scott, Jennifer, Pat and I went to the new Diablos restaurant here in North Augusta for our Father's Day Celebration and then spent the early evening hours visiting after coming back the house.  My granddaughter gave me a beautiful Grandfather card.  We didn't have the cake as she wasn't feeling well enough to make it and we certainly didn't need it after having the Tex-Mex meal out.

Mary Ann, you are right about there being a lot more history to teach about than when we were in school.  However, some of the fundamental education about how our country was founded seems still applicable and surely could be touched on briefly if nothing else.

Jeanne, I really have no recollection of the war years as was also a baby boomer and it was over by the time I had much awareness.  We were also shielded from a lot as we grew up until it was an appropriate time for us to know things.  Yours and other recollections of those days are interesting and I haven't thought of Lowell Thomas for many years but certainly remember him on the radio.  Since we lived in the Midwest I don't think any of those precautions with the light was necessary.  My father tried to enlist but was not accepted due to an irregular heart beat.  Many of his friends were drafted.

Lloyd, I agree with you when I hear of the villains being killed by the police as it saves the taxpayers huge sums of money providing defense attornies for drawn out trials.  Apparently the Congressman was much more seriously hurt than first indicated and still in critical condition.

Callie, maybe your group picture will appear on this year's Christmas cards.  I haven't been to Red Lobster for several years although we have one in this area and I always liked their soup and salad menu offering.

Carol, our little four or five birds in the nest grow a lot each day and I don't expect them to be in the nest too much longer as they are now standing on the edge of the nest.  It is fun to watch them grow and see how protective the mother bird is of them.  However, they sure are messy.

deAngel, sorry to hear you now have to deal with a sore throat.  Please don't wait too long to see the doctor if you have a respiratory infection.  Your turtle story is a good one.

Hal, isn't it great that even to get a tooth fixed properly that x-rays have to be sent to the insurance company for approval of the procedure.

Jenny, Bob and I think alike.

Jane, you have one more item to mark off your list with your trees now trimmed.

Lloyd, you sure are a man of many talents.  I have never made any jelly although saw my mother and grandmother make it often.

Amy, funny story about the carrots.  I hope you can have a quiet and enjoyable day today.  I wish the same for all who visit with us today.

Gloria, I agree with you on the math.  What was wrong with the old way of doing math?

Time to leave for coffee.  Until tomorrow.

Mary Ann

Larry, I didn't mean that none of the ancient history should be taught but schools have to be very selective in what they choose to teach in the hours available.

My insurance covers two bite-wing x-rays a year.  It may be that the x-ray for my forthcoming crown was sent in for approval (I don't know) but we made the appt when the decision was made to do it.  Seeing I had periodontal work done 40 years ago, I see my dentist three times a year.  I wasn't crazy about the periodontist so I persuaded my dentist to do that third cleaning.  I have to pay for it, but it was my choice.  The first two cleanings do not cost me anything.

Mary Ann

halkel

Good morning everyone.  Nice cool start of day but will soon warm up.  Just got off phone with dentist office making an apt for week from tomorrow to get a filling done on a cavity she found yesterday.  I have a bad felling about Joanie.  I so hope I am wrong, but it just isn't like her to at least say hello.

Larry seems that is the story of our lives now days.  We must get someone's permission for everything.

Jeanne Lee happy birthday.  Hope you have a great day.

Gloria, hope the shot helps.  Like you one more and if no help, that's it.

Lindancer

Good morning, a nice comfortable day. 3 days of 90's. Rest of the week will be in the 70's/  Rain for the weekend

I am not going to Red hats luncheon, as still have sore throat and cough.

JeanneLee, I join the gang in say HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Larry, I have not been to Red Lobster in over a year, we do not have one near Riverhead.  I like their biscuits..

Jenny, that turtle I was telling you about was about 2 ft.wide., it was not that far away from Mark, when the policeman shoot it. I do not think he had time to think. Mark was about 6mos. old. This one was standing on all 4 legs and moving. The write up on them said: Not aggressive in the water, but on  they become belligerent when on land. They can bite a finger off.

A good Thursday morning to EVERYFRIEND.

BEAUTIFUL morning here that I am certainly enjoying.

GLORIA de, the policeman obviously did the right thing, and I totally understand.  Thank goodness he did....it could have been a serious situation for Baby Mark!  We have been reading more and more about snapping turtle's 🐢, and now I am thinking it might not be as good as I once thought about my grands getting to watch this process.  Daddy better make sure the boys know the dangers that could arise.

JEANNE LEE, I hope you will have a much better day after your birthday than of did ON your day.  Loosing that grocery list you work long and hard on is enough to ruin anyone's day let alone you Bday!

LARRY, the early Fathers Day meal sounded like a hit.  Sorry Jennifer did not feel well enough to make the cake, but at least she was OK to go to the dinner.

GLORIA, I am holding good positive thoughts for you that the shot WILL give you relief this time!

Washing clothes and the dryer is beeping.....enjoy your day!

Hal sooner or later you will learn that your only permitted words are yes dear ,you are married aren't you? our granddaughter once said the man is the head as the bible says but the females is the neck that tells it witch way it can turn.

Good morning all, it is afternoon for the majority of you all, but still A.M. in part of the nation.

Jeanne Lee, I can associate with your losing that grocery post. It usually takes me two hours to make out my list, and it wears me out. Now this happening on your Birthday is NOT fair. Hopefully you had good things happen to chase the bad ones away.

Hal, I too am growing concerned about our Bis. We will increase our prayers for her and the family.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I've just learned that Amy's husband has been admitted to the hospital following a fall this morning.  They are not sure what happened but she thought at the time of the fall it might have been a small stroke.  She really has her hands full right now and needs all the prayers we can can share on their behalf.

Thanks, everyone!

I'm also very concerned about our Joanie.  It seems odd that someone has not come and told us what is happening.

Janie, thank you for alerting us to prayers needed for Amy's husband. Just when we thought they were free and clear of appts. this had to happen. I feel so sorry for them. We know that God is in charge so we will ask Him again for more help. We are so Blessed to know God is there, and that He cares, so we are happy to put our loved ones in His care.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Prayers and thoughts to both Amy (and her husband) and Joan.  Like others, I would think that someone in Joan's family would let us know how she fared on her trip.

Amy, bless you and your husband.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Joanie, thank goodness you are okay, just bushed from all the activity.  We were just worried.  Now we can rest easy.

Many thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes.  Phone calls from my kids more than made up for the lost grocery list.   :)

I was able to get a new list made and the order was picked up by my ever so accommodating neighbor.  Of course, I have discovered several items I wanted but didn't order.  Oh well, something to build the next order on.

A real relief to hear from Joan at last.   :smitten:

Good Afternoon,

Joan,  thank you so much for letting us hear from you.  I can only imagine how stressful it must be to get settled and adjust to your new surroundings.
Gentle  :hugs: to you and a wish for  :calm: days very soon.

Belated  :happybday:  Jeanne Lee.

Everything is back in place in the kitchen and laundry room.
I'd like to put a rug in the laundry room but am afraid of falls.
Maybe I'll look for a "skinny" doormat of some kind.  Suggestions?

Although I'd parked my car on the street during the work periods, it was filthy from the dust and sprinkler system.   After lunch, I said to self,  "Self!  Car wash will be less busy on Thursday than on Friday.  Get thee thither....NOW!"   So I did.....and it was!!

Hope Everyfriend Everwhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Joan, thanks for checking in.  I hope things will calm down for you, but take it easy until they do.

So glad to see the message from Joan.  I'm sure it has been a very stressful and rough week for her and her family.  Just good to know she is doing ok.

Amy, so sorry to read about your husband's fall.   Falls are always so scary.  That is my greatest fear.  Hope that he will get some rest and you will see some improvement when you go back tomorrow.  Put your feet up and  take a little nap.

It was a beautiful day today with lower temperatures and no humidity.  We really need some rain, but so far, with all the predictions of thunder storms each day.  we have not seen anything falling from the sky.  The farmers really need it.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Thank you God ! And thank you Bis !!!!!All we need is a word or two from you to keep us thankful. We can wait to hear all about the move and your new dwelling place. But just a "hello" is so very welcome dear heart.

Gloria de, I am adding an extra prayer that your throat will be all healed up when you wake in the morning. Mom's trick for us was to gargle with extra warm salt water. We didn't have aspirin in the house, but it still helps with the pain. Hugs to you dear friend.

I have had a good day. Snail slow, but I did get down for lunch, then off to Balance and Mobility class, then home for a nice nap.I will have a light supper at home and just stay in and relax.

Amy, thank you for your message dear. The hospital is the best place for your beloved husband. Now don't knock yourself out with visits...he is where he needs to be, and you must keep well and strong for when he comes home.

The sun is slowly going to bed, and I will be doing the same ere long. So I will bid you all a very good night, and a happy healthful tomorrow. I am so glad we have our Soda Shoppe family all accounted for once again. Thank you God.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Seriously, I hope Everyfriend is well and just taking care of business.  Amy, my best to your hubby.  I hope he's better this morning and I hope you got some rest.

And so relieved to hear from Joan.  I know she will get things in order eventually.  So glad to hear that she got through the trip....I had an uneasy feeling, too, when we didn't hear for several days.

Happy Birthday-That-Was, Jeanne Lee.  I'm sorry I'm so late but the good wishes are still heart felt.   :happybday:

Good morning Everyfriend.

Amy-Y0ur husband and you are in my prayers.

Callie--get some of that double sided tape for the throw rug.  That is what Kate put on the area rug in my living room and rugs in the bathroom and it works great.

I am in an end unit apartment (U shaped buiding) with 12 apartments.  I was lucky--l0ts of windows.  The inne units only have one back and one front window.  I have a washer and dryer, dishwasher, disposal, microwave and big closets.

The meal each day is at lunch.  You can have it delivered or go to the dining room.  The food is delicious and plentiiful,  For example today it is chicken alfredo, noodles, spinach, garlic bread, green salad, potato soup and homemade apple pie.  I hope I can gain some weight.

My place looks like a model apartment.  Kate did a fantastic job with furnishings.

I hope I did not bore you giving you an idea of living here in Fairhope, AL
