Good morning everyone, hope everyone is fine and dandy today. We had rain again last night but now the sun is shining, hooray! Might even get up to 70°.

DONNA BROWN  nice seeing a new person here, Come back often. We are a friendly caring group.

LLOYD I think we are all praying for JOAN to make the trip easy. I sure hope they stopped over night, that is a long ride from where she lived to her new home. I sure would love bacon and eggs this morning but this is the last day for only soft food. The gums where the teeth came out are looking good ad sure do not want anything getting into those holes. Glad you and Nancy took the day off to enjoy even if you could not any fishing in.

AMY  I really had no pain from the extractions, not even any numbness to get through. It Iris's are in bloom here but not as beautiful as other years.

JANE I used to love taking my coffee outside in the early morning and watch the sunrise. Here I can see the sunset. Like you I have been thinking of Joan and that long ride.

LARRY  except for not being able to eat what I usually like I have been drinking shakes and Ensure. Dentist said 3 days like that to make sure nothing can get into the holes. Not as much bleeding this time either. He said he was putting special gauze into the holes that would come out when they did the job. Some kind of gauze that stops bleeding.

JUNE  not brave because those teeth have been hurting me. Better get them out, glad he did the 4 of them at once. One tooth broke and he had to dig tit out, did not feel anything but laughed when he started singing. He said he does that to get those in the chair to not think of what he was doing. He is funny. My regular dentist no longer does extractions, I think I have mentioned how gentle she is and she is so tiny.

CALLIE  my sister's husband was a native of Okmulgee. He and my sister are both gone now. My hair turned gray and I loved that color but it finally got white. Had one patch at my neck that was still dark, one sister had that dark patch, too. Oh boy, sounds like your husband had a sense of humor with his red. White and blue beard. My red haired grandson -his hair has darkened but when he lets his beard grow it is red.

HAL  I have a list of places to get the bottom plate made.
Will wait till the swelling is down and everything healed before making an appointment. My dentist was talking to me about it before the other came in to do his job. She said I should be one of the lucky ones who can wear the bottoms. I know a lot of people who never could wear them. She said because I kept the bottom teeth so long( being old before they had to go) I have a better chance.

JANE  my oldest sister was the first one I knew who had one of the old fridges with the coils on top. Years later she bought a more modern one and gave the coiled one to my Mom. Till them it was the ice box. I had an old icebox where I kept all the jars of jam I made. My husband blocked the drain so no mice could get into it because it was in the basement and in the country seems there is always a chance of mice.

JENNY  like you I do not think they would make that long drive in one day. I think that would be hard on Joan. Remember how she said any place more than an hours drive she would fly? I slept so much after getting home from the dentist I really never felt discomfort.

MARY ANN My daughter has a gas fridge. They use bottled gas where they now live. My SIL is getting ready to put more solar panels up. One neighbor said he would help him, he used to work installing them. Since all who live there have to be self contained they help each other, just like people did years ago.

HAL  I remember my Mom putting that sing  in the window. I also remember all us kids going to the old horse drawn ice wagon hoping to get a chip of ice.

JENNY if that house pictured is your son's home I can see him wishing he could take it with him. Beautiful home.

JANE  getting a piece pf ice on a summer day was a treat to all the kids.

LLOYD  JOAN is moving to be close to her family. They get hurricanes in Alabama, too.

AMY  don't think any of us can get rid of those dust bunnies. They seem to multiply when we aren't looking.

Hi everyone.  We are suppose to see another cloudy day and another high up close to 90 degrees.  Yesterday I was so weary all day long that it was an effort to do anything.  I spend a good part of the day laying down resting.  Scott did come over around noon and we made a quick trip to Costco but when I got home I skipped lunch and laid down again.  He and I did have dinner at the Church last evening and he then came out for the evening.  Jennifer was not feeling well and decided to not go to the dinner or come out for the evening.  I got her a dinner to go that Scott took to her before she came out.  I am looking forward to coffee this morning with my men friends and then hope to still have enough energy to attend the Wisdom group as I have missed it for the last couple of weeks.

I am going to try to limit my comments again this morning as don't have much time before needing to leave for coffee and I like to read and post here in the morning.

June, Joan's long trip should be a thing of the past now.  I sure hope it doesn't set her recovery back.  I would enjoy a Bible study like you and Hal are participating in.  It is nice the two ministers cooperate with each other on the teachings.

Callie, it sounds like your husband was ahead of the time with the blue streak in his beard.  Now crazy colors in hair are not so shocking.

Hal, glad you are finally getting some rain although if it comes too fast not sure how much good it does along with the flood damage to an area.  I had to turn on my sprinkler system yesterday so it watered early this morning.  Did your granddad have one of those old tall coffeemakers?  My granddad did and he just kept adding coffee grounds to it.  He also didn't want his coffee cup washed out as he though it took away from the flavor.  When I was probably about 5 years old the REA came into NW Missouri and put in electric service.  I remember we didn't have many outlets and having those adapters in the light bulb fixture where we could plug in other things.  How times have changed.

Jenny, I saw on the news about that terrible tanker truck accident.  Hope you don't need to get out on that Interstate for awhile.  Hope your son's home sells quickly.  If they are having many showing already it likely won't be long.  That is indeed a beautiful home.  What a beautiful view from their patio.

JaneS, you will appreciate having your A/C as it get warmer, especially when you get off work in the midday and the car has gotten so warm inside from the sun.  Glad the mechanic was able to save you some money.

Lloyd, I believe Joan has moved to Alabama as that is where her son and daughter live and she needs to be close to them. Your seeding accident sounds like something I would do.  At least it wasn't you personally who had the accident.  I have never heard of planting turnips like that.

Amy, hope those dust bunnies weren't able to allude you.  Our will be chased tomorrow when the housekeeper is here.

Gloria, you have been fortunate with your teeth extraction to not have the pain.  They keep developing new things like the gauze that reduces the bleeding.  That came out of the military.

Sandy

Just checking in.   It is warm but cloudy here on the rocky coast of Maine.

Jenny, I will take that home.   But of course, I will have to fly it North to Maine!!!     It is lovely.

Waiting to hear from Joan.      Hope all went well!

12 days to go until cast off.

I was walking through the grocery store Tuesday and walked right into a display  in the middle of the isle.     Kelly was behind me and saw the whole fiasco ...

I Didn't fall down, but lots packages of donuts did...
I couldn't stop laughing...

My problem is that I look to far in front of where I am walking and can't see the dangers around me.   I am use to standing tall and looking long, to where I am headed.

A problem I must solve or there will be more breaks a head for me.  :'(

I am fine!

Sandy

I am just checking in on a sunny morning.  for a change.  Hope to see a message soon from Joan.   Here, safe and sound.

I am waiting for a friend to pick me up, on my way to a Red Hat divas Luncheon.  I am on the committee for this one.  I made up the invitations.

Good Morning,

Busy day around my house.   The patio and sidewalk around to the front are being power-washed.
Then the handyman and I will "design" a cabinet to put on my patio for storage and a work-top.  (I think that means measure for my height and comfort level).  And then, he will get the materials and build it....right on the patio.

I've also picked out the tile for replacing what's in the kitchen and laundry room because "too many" are sounding hollow and may be loosening.  That project will probably happen next week.

I also hope Joan's trip is going well.   According to the map,  Fairhope AL is near Mobile and on Mobile Bay.   Sounds like a pretty area.

Yes, my husband did have a sense of humor - especially about himself.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Mary Ann

Mention of some of the primitive electric conditions of long ago reminded me of my first job with the electric company.  I started in 1942 and the company had just completed going from 30 cycle DC to 60 cycle AC.  It was my job to type all of the information about the transformers that had been rewound to take care of the frequency change.  I stayed in that job for about six months and then the company didn't know what to do with me.  I ended up subbing in other departments for a year and a half before a job opened up.

Mary Ann

Amy

Gloria, you are so right about the dust bunnies!!!I did manage to get these but I am sure by tomorrow I can do the same again.

I put a rhubarb custard pie in the hidey hole for everyone.. baked a pie shell to for a lemon or coconut or banana cream pie.

Enjoy your day..

Good Morning dear friends. Woke early this morning again, so took another snooze around nine o'clock. It's a great life…we do what we like when we like,no job to go to, no kids to attend to, no meetings scheduled, till mid afternoon. Always ready with a hope for a glimpse of our Bis/Joan. Just to know she came safely through the trip would be comforting.

Janey, What is money for but to keep us well and comfortable. I know when summer comes you will be thankful you have good A/C in your car.

Hal, I am glad you finally got some of that delicious rain. We have had cloudy weather every day all week long, but nary a drop of the wet stuff. I'll be heading downstairs for lunch soon so I'll pass on your coffee and have a couple cups of Rowntree's offering. They do make Good coffee, as I'm sure you do too.

Gloria, I am so glad you are healing nicely. I think I hate the healing process more than the actual extraction. I admire your "grit".

Larry we are still in the clouds out here..all week long. I wish they were heavy with rain, but no such luck. I really enjoy our Bible studies Larry. It is something new to me, and I am really learning what it is all about. I had to start appreciating this study at the old age of life, but perhaps that is when it is most needed.

Sandy, maybe you should think about getting a four wheel cart. It would give you a place to sit and rest if necessary, but mostly it would keep you safe from falling. the carts come with a basket under the seat or on the handle bars so you can store any packages you pick up.

Gloria de, I hope you have or are having a good time at you luncheon.  We have a Red Hatters group here where I live, and we were given a Sing-a-long with them last week. It was a fun time.

Callie, you are getting your place all spiffed up. I like the idea of a work table and cabinet on your patio. Will they be safe from bad weather ?
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June....

What I really need to do is slow down, watch carefully exactly whereIam walking,  and stop trying to keep up the fast pace that I used to have.

This should be easier now that I keep running into things.
It has been 5 years now since I could see well .....
I am overdue to choose a slower pace and stop making believe that I can see well.     :tickedoff:

11 days and my cast can off,    am really looking forward to that day.
:crazy2:

I spotted the black mushroom cloud of the tanker fuel truck that was on fire on the interstate 25 yesterday too.  We all watched a CDOT (dept of transportation) guy run right to the injured driver of the tanker who was rolling on the lane trying to put a fire out on his leg.  He was to be released from hospital today.  Amazed at brave workers who ran towards the fire to help the driver.  Parts of the truck melted into the concrete.  I was miles away from all of it.

Sandy:  If you have been a fast walker (like me) it is hard to think slower is best.  Hoping you find the best way that is safest for you.

I am taking a break from trying to fix two different rug cleaners.  They are kaput!  so, all of my efforts were for naught today and it was a good time to take a little nap.  Don had to drive to the VA for a 2nd. scraping of a suspicious skin spot.  I had plans to do so much but two machines just would not work - one worked for a minute and then shut down.  Both leaked rug cleaner - not happy.

Jenny:  It is a beautiful home.  Where are they moving?

Amy:  Love rhubarb -  I have to redo a part of a quilt and buy some more fabric this time without  a definite linear pattern.  It wasn't noticeable until the fabric pieces were up on the flannel cloth on the wall.  Felt like a ninny.  A piece of rhubarb pie could make me feel better.  hinting.

Sandy

Thanks Carol....

Sometimes one has to do what one has to do...
or suffer the consequences...

If I would just stop and smell the roses along he way,
slowing down could be a good thing.

I need to work on that!   :coolsmiley:

Janie…I love it..George Carlin had it correct !  If we take a trip we read up on all the scenery and history of where we are going, so it stands to reason we are more interested in what to expect on our last trip as the time draws near. I will be sharing that with other elders I know that do not come here.

Sandy, I know exactly what you are saying about slowing down. Even with a cart I am still learning to stop being in haste. I have all the time in the world so there is no need to push it. My Mom was always a quick and active person too, till she had several broken bones and learned to slow down. I can just feel the freedom you will have when the cast comes off, but that too will have to be a time for you to put on the brakes..it would be so easy without the cast to get careless. Good luck girl.

Taking a nap was a good idea after the fouled up rug cleaners. Frustrations disappear once we can lose ourselves in sleep.

Time for me to slowly scoot over to the club house for our chair exercises…..
As long as we are here, let's dance.

AMY  make  a coconut custard or a lemon meringue and I will be there. Love rhubarb pie, too. I like most pies. Always baked more of them than I did cakes.

JUNE  I am getting hungry for real food so must mean I am healing, I have been living on Ensure and yogurt. Enjoyed the oatmeal this morning.

SANDY  I was another fast walker but now I have no choice but to walk slow. Without my rollator I would not be walking much at all.

I thought I would get here tonight because I will not be here in the morning. Car will be picking me up at 9:30 in the morning. Have an appointment with my eye doc. Hope I can stop those eye drops at last. They are beginning to irritate my eyes. I would say they are not working. ave a good night.

Carol, I also have 2 carpet cleaners needing "understanding".  Since I bought them both when I had that **** kitchen carpet, I'm in no hurry to work on them. One (most expensive) didn't get but a couple cleanings before it started either not pumping out the cleaning fluid or dumping it all in one spot.  Got rid of that carpet nearly 4 years ago but before that I had the heart surgery & Cas died, so I didn't take care of it while under warranty.  I did get my new Shark Complete/pet upright today.  Put it together & think I will like it when I get time to clean, right now I have boxes all over the floor, some with stuff that I want to get rid of.  Life is slightly out of control.

I ran across a good article saved from the local paper back in Oct. of 2013... explaining "how the brain flushes toxic waste during sleep".  I knew when I didn't get enough sleep that my resting heart rate soared (lost 20 points the first few months of wearing a Fitbit showing how little sleep I was actually getting).  My Fitbit quit registering sleep, not sure why so I got a new one today.  Still don't have it set up because my brain is not up to speed, not enough sleep, the problem of this computer shutting down & I have to login every time I don't wiggle the mouse for maybe a minute at most.  I've changed settings & nothing works.  Did this before & must have been an update that cured it & another update this week the messed it up again.  Impossible for me to keep the mouse moving, keep my cell phone from going to sleep & talk to tech help on a portable phone... just not enough hands!  Besides, I have trouble understand most tech help and also don't know the terms they are used to using when helping.  Big problem! :-\

I have been thinking about a custard pudding my mother used to make, have only tasted the same one time, at a little place in downtown Wichita owned & operated by a family that came from near the French border.  All week I've wanted to see if they still have those cream puffs with that custard filling.  I checked the phone book & place is still there.  My mother couldn't remember exactly how to make it by the time I got around to asking.... and no written recipes for those special dishes.  It was cooked in a double boiler, used lots of egg yolks & no clue what else.  I tried once, a recipe my sister thought was the one..... not sure if it was the recipe or my cooking, it was NOT what I was looking for.

I've read posts 2 or 3 times today and started to post each time but phone call, computer conked out & I got out of the room. I know I didn't get 3 hours sleep last night so the brain is packed with toxic waste!!!  My story & sticking to it.

June Drabek

Gloria, I'll bet that oatmeal tasted good after all that yougurt and Ensure, but both are good nourishment when something goes wrong. I think lemon merengue is my favorite pie and most of the custards. I do not care that much for pumpkin pie. and I can't have berries any more.

Janie, I second your message regarding our Bis. Just settling in and getting things organized is going to be tiring for her too, so I hope she takes all the time she needs in coming back to us. Her health is most important.

Lloyd, God willing we will all be here to wish one another a good morning tomorrow.

God Bless you all forever and ever. Amen.

p.s. Goodnight Tisie....I almost missed you. :hugs:

Denver

Good evening.  It has been a long day.  Got my mammogram done, my car washed, my yearly physical taken care of and a LOT of other things.  I am tired and ready to head off to bed.

Thank you all for looking at my son's home.  It is a very nice one and they are very sad to have to leave it.  As of this afternoon they already have two offers and several more showings scheduled.

SANDY, IF ONLY the home could be taken to a new location!  I had to laugh right along with your description of knocking down the stack of donuts....thank goodness it was not cans or even worse, bottles!   The six weeks of the cast on your arm has gone quickly.....well for me, as time passes so fast, but know it has not passed fast for you.  Hang in there....soon, soon it will be time to cut it off.

CAROL, Brian and Cathy are moving back to Denver.  Cathy is already in her second week of working here.  She had several offers that would have taken them to some lovely places, but the offer here was by far the best and it is home for both of them.  The problem they face is not selling the Austin Home, rather it will be finding a place here.  As you know this is a tough market and you have to be standing with $$ in hand to be able to buy a home in this active market.

My appointment today was on 9th, right by the VA and Rose Hospital, so we traveled right through where the terrible truck crash was yesterday.  I was very surprised that CDOT was able to get the freeway totally repaired and opened by 4:15 AM.  it was not that large of an area they had to replace.  It sure could have been a lot worse.  I guess Don saw it today as well on the way to and from his appointment?

Holding good thoughts for Our Joan tonight also.  It will sure be good to see a post come in saying that she is there safe and sound.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I woke to 51º this morning and the bedroom window was open.  It felt pretty chilly!  Right now we're in waiting mode for Annie's pill on an empty stomach.  I'm also making dog food and we have to wait for that to absorb the boiling water.

JENNY, glad you didn't encounter any of the wreckage from the truck accident when you went for your appointment.

Still no word from Joanie...maybe later today she'll let us know she has arrived.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning.  Wish me smiles!

Make today a good one!

SHIRLEY, just wondering...do those toxic wastes leave our brain when we catch a few zzzzs on the sofa in the afternoon or if we fall asleep on the front porch while checking on the doggies or when we watch TV through our eyelids?

Jane and Gloria, coconut cream pie it will be,a banana cream pie needs to be ate up quick and we just don't eat them that fast. Have a great day at work Jane...

Sandy, I bet you will so so happy to get that cast off your arm.

Jenny, I can understand why they wouldn't want ot leave that beautiful home. Hope they find one just as nice where there are going.

Carol, pie is in the hidey hole, help yourself....hope there is some left for you. :)

Got to go get a bite of something and take my meds.

Hi everyone. I am getting a late start this morning as when I tried to start using my desktop all kinds of things happened as I think there must have been a Microsoft update during the night.  Finally I had to manually turn it off and reboot and now everything seems to be working.  We are going to have a another warm day up to about 90 degrees but we do have sun today after two days of clouds.  The schedule is light today.  The housekeeper just arrived.  We have decided to go out for our main meal later this afternoon so we can keep our kitchen nice and clean for at least today.

Yesterday was the best day, in terms of how I was feeling, that I have had in sometime.  I woke up ready to tackle the world and held up reasonably well all day.  I am still feeling pretty good today but won't push it.  I may go in a little while and see if I can find some flowers for my front porch.

Lloyd, thanks for the info on the turnips and sweet clover.  I might like turnips better raw than cooked as really dislike them cooked.

deAngel, happy to see you were up to meeting with your Red Hat divas.

Callie, once the tile is replaced you will enjoy the new surface and it should be a lot safer than lose tiles.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you typed too fast and worked yourself out of that job in 1942.  Glad they found other work for you and you were able to stay with the electric company for your working years.

Amy, I will give my piece of rhubarb custard pie to someone else and wait for the lemon or coconut pie.

June, I enjoyed the couple of cloudy days we had but the sun does look nice today.  I used to walk fast but sure not anymore. I find myself taking very small steps unless I consciously think to take longer strides.

Gloria, hope you can have more solid food today.

Shirley, I had never heard about the brain helping flush toxic waste during sleep.  Very interesting and maybe that is why we sometimes feel so much better after a night's sleep.  Sure hope you get some decent sleep soon.

Amy, I agree about lemon pie from from scratch being so much better than the boxed filling.  We can get a Mrs. Smith frozen lemon pie in individual pieces that is pretty good.  It has a nice tart taste.

JaneS, I liked your George Carlin comment about cramming for the finals.

Sandy, we will count down the days with you for that cast to be removed.

Carol, that trucker was fortunate that he wasn't burned on more than his leg and have to be hospitalized for a long time.  That would be frightening.  Glad the Interstate could be fixed so quickly and you didn't have a problem getting to your appointments.

Larry, I can't say I typed myself out of a job in 1942, but the process of changing from 30 cycle to 60 cycle ended and that department was nearly phased out.  For about 1 1/2 years I subbed when someone was on vacation, mostly answering phones, and I ended up in the department where they sold light bulbs and when major appliances (refrigerators and ranges etc) were made again, I had the job in the office of the Appliance Department.  I was there 25 years before that department was phased out.  I kind of had a history of being in departments that were phased out but the company always found a spot for me until I decided to retire after 43 years and 9 months.  I had about 15 minutes wondering if I'd done the right thing by retiring, but settled into it and have enjoyed it for almost 31 years.

AMY:  So true!  Thanks for the pie - I inhaled it!

Gloria:  You deserve a pudding - home-made.

Shirley:  The consignment shops here will take some stuff they can sell - but one takes 55% of their scaled down sale.  When I used Craig's List moving from Fort Collins - you would never believe the very different people who came - one stayed for hours.  I think the children dropped granny off for half a day - I fed her lunch.  You would love love love the Almond Custard Croissants that we can get in a local shop.

Joan:  Our traveling girl - rest easy after the long trip.

Amy:  Thanks for all the desserts.

Jenny:  Your chicks are coming home to roost.

Carol, where did you see a post from Joan?  I can't see one here.
