Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, sounds like you have a war going with that squirrel.  They are resourceful critters. I have a yard full of them, never have gotten into my attic but we put metal over all our vents on the overhangs.

Linedancer, hope you get a nice nap in today.  Not sleeping is the pits, to say the least.

Lloyd, no bull dozing today?

Coffee is almost ready, who wants a cup?'

Gloria

AMY  as the old saying was=as you sow, so shall you reap. Her day will come. I will not repeat what some say about her.

LLOYD  my second son knows what I like and he will go to that farm for me. He has always been the thoughtful one and loves helping others. He has always been that way. My daughter is more like him but she lives in Arizona and too far to help me. Oldest son will help when I ask him, the other will always ask what he can do. They are quite different. I imagine it will take Joan a few days of rest before she feels like doing much of anything.

HAL  hope the PT helps you a lot. From what I have read and heard water exercise is great because you are weightless in the water so less stress on the joints. Starting tomorrow the temperature here will be up to 90 and the humidity will go up.
Will be outside in the mornings and when the heat gets to me will come in and turn the AC on. I do not mind the cold but the dampness of a month or more of rain was too much.

LARRY  I tried the Google search but guess I just do not word what I want right. It is only once in awhile I have a night of not sleeping. Most nights I do get at least 7 hours of sleep. I have always slept good until this last year.  I pray that Pam survives the colon cancer. My SIL had had a few family members die from it and the doctor makes sure he has the colonoscopy every year. Thy have taken polyps from his colon. Of course since they are now in Arizona they have had to find new doctors for everything.

JOY  I had one market I bought most groceries and a different market for produce. Always fresher there. In season I would go to the farm for what they grew. Always got their berries and freeze them. Almost lasted till the next year's crops were ready.  I like making an order online from a local market. Every thing they have brought is good. But then I do not order much produce and no meat. I order the paper things like you do and things that are heavy or bulky. I can pick the day and times I want the delivery. I do send my CNA to the store for me for things I run out of.

GLORIA de  like you it will be getting hot. Normal the last few years, a few spring days and then summer heat and humidity. Just saw on local weather that Friday  rain is in the forecast. Figures, have an appointment with the pain doctor. If the shot this time does not work I do not think I will go for any more of them.

CAROL  a bone scan is about the easiest one I ever had. Hope Don had no aftereffects from his fall.

JANE  looks like you finally found a great handyman.  I never heard of carpenter bees.  We fought carpenter ants when we had our house.

JUNE  rest and take care of yourself.

JENNY  hope you enjoyed the birthday celebration and the traffic was not too bad.

HAL  I never had to drink anything for a bone scan and it never took too long.

GLORIA de  hope you can get a nap later. No fun when we cannot sleep.

AMY  thanks, I did sleep great last night.

JANE  those darn squirrels are determined to get where they want.

HAL  thanks, I would like another cup of coffee. Already emptied my pot of it.

Hi everyone.  It is a nice sunny morning but is suppose to become partly cloudy this afternoon.  We expect to get to bout 90 degrees this afternoon.  I have a light schedule planned for today.  I will attend a 10:30 meeting and then spend the rest of the day home.  Later this afternoon I will watch some of the St. Jude's Golf Tourney.  Many of the big names in golf have skipped this event as next week is the U. S. Open Championship, which is one of the big tournaments each year.  About the only thing I accomplished yesterday was to prepare our dinner last night.  Usually about once a week we have a "salad supper" which is a nice green salad and either tuna or chicken salad on top.

Joy, we haven't gotten any produce from Walmart but we have been satisfied with our orders. The items are packed in plastic bags, usually only one or two items in a bag.  We use a lot of distilled water in our CPAP machines and it is nice only to have to remove them from the truck and set along the side of garage, which has a nice little ledge.  You do pay for the order with a credit card at the time of placing your order but they only charge for the items they are able to supply on the order and if it is less than the $30 limit for the free service they do not charge a fee as it is their inability to find the item or they are out of it.  You can indicate whether you will accept substitutes if they don't have the exact item you ordered.  As the last step in the order process you go to a page for the day you want to pick up your items and select an available time.  They will call or text to let you know your order is ready around the beginning of the hour you have selected.  I found out by experience not to go pick up the order if they haven't called or texted as one time I went for the order and for some reason it had not been filled yet.  We generally get our produce at Aldi's as it is less expensive than Walmart.  The store is small and we can still shop there without becoming exhausted as happens with the big grocery stores.  As long as I can drive I don't need the home delivery but expect it to be available before long as there certainly is a need for it.

deAngel, nice that the machines at Medicare decided what you need and don't need.  This week was also a three appointment week but that is rare and the rest of the month looks pretty clear with just one more doctor visit.  Hope the strawberries were good.

Carol, my bone scan was like yours and not invasive at all.  It lasted only a few minutes.  Using the online grocery ordered sure is easier on us than walking those long, long aisles and trying to find where things are located.

JaneS, those pesky squirrels are very resourceful.  I hope you are rid of yours.  It sounds like you have found a good handyman.  It is someone we hope to not need to often but sure nice to have as I found out when our sink clogged recently.  Nice that your handyman was willing to reduce your bill.

Jenny, hope the traffic won't be as bad on your trip to Laramie as it is during the weekday.

Hal, I have never had that type of bone scan and hope it isn't needed although my doctor thought I may have a little cancer in the bones now as my platelet count is much lower than normal but still acceptable and that hasn't been verified.  On one of our houses we had to put metal around at the eaves to keep the squirrels and other varmints out of the attic.  We had many trees around the house which gave them easy access.  They had also chewed through the ridge vent on the roof at one end.  Needless to say I don't hold a good feeling toward squirrels but know they are just being squirrels.

Gloria, each of our children have their own personalities. I bet your oldest son is happy to help his mother but just not as considerate are the younger son to ask about your needs. Folks always dread having a colonoscopy but it sure is important.  Like you we like having the big paper items delivered to the house.  Costco usually offers free shipping on items like that.

June, glad your blood pressure had gone down by the afternoon and you felt like getting out of your apartment.  I always like beef stroganoff and noodles.  We had that at one of our Wednesday night dinners at Church not long ago.

Amy, you are amazing with all that you do.  Washing the car and cutting the grass and baking bread all in one day and I bet a lot of other things is certainly a full day.  I think you mentioned your didn't know what carpenter bees are.  They are large bees that bore round holes in a piece of wood and lay eggs there which will hatch out the next season and the process is repeated.  They can do a lot of damage.  We never had them until we moved to Georgia.

Lloyd, your weather sounds like ours although we probably will get two to three degrees higher today.

Carol

From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you for your remarks on Don's fall - my little nothing bone scan and just being the caring people you are.

Beverly:  Prayers for Michael and you as well.  It is tough to be a mom some days.

Jenny:  Remember driving to Cheyenne and going near 100 mph?  No more fun.  Tell me if Laramie has grown in size.

Hal:  This was just a machine scan and it was over in a matter of minutes.  I didn't know what to expect.  Thanks for the coffee.

Amy:  You will understand - I had to remake 30 blocks because the first batch had a pattern that did not line up well.  When I put them up on the flannel piece hanging on the wall - it was easy to spot the problem.  Oh, well - live and keep on learning.  Now there are 30 blocks 6 X 6 so they can be pot holders or something different.

For those who might be interested in the grocery delivery, picking it up at the store has been free.  A home delivery is either $7 or $8 - not sure.  Also, there is a certain $ amount you need to spend - it is not for just a couple of items.  Really, we should all being doing this and I kick myself when we come back so tuckered over walking on that cement.  I don't buy meat or veggies at that store though as we prefer better and smaller shop.

JaneS

Well the tree trimmer guy was here and he's coming on Wednesday to do the job.  That'll take care of the squirrel's access to the attic.  And when the trimming is done, the squirrel nest will be a thing of the past.  Mega bucks for this job!  If we have to, the trapper guy will be back to trap him and we'll take him/her up to the state park and release.  He/she sure is a busy little bugger!

I'm waiting for the dryer to stop so I can take the clothes out, put in another load and put more in the washer.  Then I have to return my library books, make a quick stop at the store and back home again.

We are back home after having a wonderful day with the kids. Daughter in loves parents also joined us for lunch. We didn't get any shopping done but that is ok, hubby was tired and is now resting. I am also getting laundry done and will soon hang it out.

Larry, thank you, I had no idea of what they were. We have bees here but not those I don't think.

June Drabek

It looks like I am dragging in late again. I was up and in the shower at 6 o'clock, giving my self a shampoo along with the rest of me, wore me out, so I had to kick back and nap for a short time. Saw the laundry room was not occupied so decided to launder all my long pants…..Of course I neglected one pair that needed laundry, but didn't notice it till I hung up six other pair. Darn ! They are all of a dark color, so do them separately.

So I had to take another snooze to recover from that. Started to read your posts later, but all of a sudden it was time for lunch….so off I went to the dining room. A full stomach required another nap, when I woke from that I needed to go to the library to return a book and pick up another. Came back to the main building and was told I had a package from Amazon, so that needed opening and enjoying what I had purchased, still have some more to arrive. Mail was "in", and I have a nice warm message from a friend that lives at Sunwest…my old abode before I came here.

Now I will read and enjoy your Today's chat.

Gloria de, I take a sleeping pill every night and find I am sleeping all night long again. I love that. If I didn't have a nurse coming in at six A.M. I might sleep much later. Would you consider asking your doctor for something that helps you fall asleep. We really need sleep dear, our old bodies require a complete rest at night.  We heal when we sleep.

Amy, thank you dear one. It has been a good day, thank you. You really work hard girl, just like I used to do in my younger life. I washed the car, did gardening, all the necessary stuff in running a home and loving it. I'm thankful I can still get down the hall and do laundry, but one of these days that will have to come to a close too. I can enjoy living through your day that used to be mine too.

Janie, you made me laugh at your YAY. I have done the same many times during the day. We do need to give ourselves credit at times. No one else around to pat us on the back.

Gloria, my two sons are as different as night and day, personality that is.  I think that when our son's marry, a lot depends on the relationship they have with their wives has a lot to do with what they do for us. With what various friends have told me, their daughter in law was insecure and resented her husband doing things for his mother. So, we will be thankful for what they can do for us without disrupting their personal lives. My brother in law always stopped to have coffee with his mother before he came up to the apartment he shared with his wife. Good thing his wife didn't care a hoot what he did.

Larry, One of our nurses told me that blood pressure has a lot to do with the function of our kidneys and other organs. I have these blocked arteries in my legs, so I have to expect to have hight blood pressure most of the time. What surprises me is that it is highest at the early hour of the day when I am awakened to have the pressure read, then the last one at night is still fairly high, but not nearly as high as the morning. Like this morning it was 169/67  and last night it was 135 as the first #..I don't recall the lower #, A good normal reading is 120/80.

Carol, I order on line about once a month. I am entitled to 3 meals a day where I live, but I rarely go down except for lunch. If I order above 49 dollars I get a choice of delivery times. I choose a four hour window, and I have to be at home of course, and I pay less than 7 dollars for delivery. If I want it same day  it would cost over 12 dollars for delivery, with just an hour of waiting. I'm really thankful for this service. For other stuff I use Amazon.com, and I pray for Prime delivery so I can get my purchases within a day or more, depending on where the merchandise is shipped from to Amazon, then to me.

Time for me to shut up and go fix some light supper. Have a great evening my dear ones. June

I'm up and I slept better last night than I have in a month!  I don't know why but it sure felt good this morning.

I'll be off to church and then the Farmer's Market.  Today Kiran and I will be having our "End of School" lunch at McDonalds and then ice cream for dessert.  Her friend party on Friday was a sleepover/campout and I don't think they did much sleeping because she slept most of the day yesterday.  Today will be better.  I'll let them know when I get home from the market and then they'll let me know when she's ready to go

Lloyd, I hope you're having a good nap and that you wake up ready for your day.

I wish Everyfriend the kind of day you wish for yourself.  Make it great!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

I had an absolutely lousy night or should say morning.  I woke up around four and never did go back to sleep, feel like I haven't even been to bed.  Oh well, maybe Carl, our minister, will have a rousing sermon this morning to perk me up.

I hope all of you have a great day.  We are going to oldest daughters for some ribs and visit with family.

I'm headed to the coffee pot, all that want a cup are welcome.

Yes I got a few but think I will try for more soon. sunny clear 70 º shooting for
89 º today. so you guessed it I am going to be couch Jockey most of the day and pray the A C keeps doing the good work. Hope all of your day goes as you Like it.

Hi everyone.  The morning is starting out overcast and it is suppose to be partly cloudy all day long.  However, it really won't keep us much cooler as we will reach 90 degrees again this afternoon.  We expect this to be our usual Sunday with Sunday School and Church and then going somewhere for lunch or picking up something to bring home to eat.  I plan on having a Facetime conversation with my best friend later this afternoon and then watching the conclusion of the golf match.

Carol, I read that about the Senator saying because the man believed in Christ he wasn't qualified for the position in Government.  Can you imagine what would have happened in this country if this Senator had been elected President.  Isn't it nice that there are still Chapels in hospitals with our "political correctness".  Is there still a cross in that VA chapel?    I really enjoy watching the golf matches and like that there isn't usually a lot of sustained noise.

Carol, I can see now why you needed more fabric for the pieces that didn't match up right.  That turned out to be quite a job.  Had you sown the pieces together before you discovered the problem?  The Walmart limit for the pickup service without charge is $30 and for us that is no problem as Pat can always order more than that amount.  We buy our meats at Costco and veggies at Aldi's.  At least we don't have to walk many isles to do that shopping.

JaneS, glad you found a tree trimmer and that will solve your squirrel problem. What Masterpiece series are you watching.  They have some great programs.

Hal, maybe if the sermon is rousing you can catch a nap.  :)

Amy, you would know if you had carpenter bees as the holes they make are large and appear totally round as if someone had drilled a hole.  Glad you had an enjoyable day with your family.

June, have you ever used the color catchers in the washing machine when you wash colored clothes? It accumulates  any color that is released by clothing. Pat has used these ever since they came out and they really work.

Sandy

LArry, the show I'm watching is called "HOME FIRES".  It's about how the British women dealt with being left alone in England while their men were off fighting the Germans during WWII.  I'm really enjoying it but I have to concentrate on the dialogue because of my hearing problem combined with the British accents.

I've been to church, stayed for coffee hour and then stopped by the Farmers Market.  (Sorry HAL) My "3 baskets for $5.) guy was there and came home with tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, and cherries.  The cherries aren't local but they sure do look good.

I'm now just waiting for Kiran to call to say she's ready to go to lunch.

All this activity this morning wore me out a lot faster than it used to 10 years ago.  You don't suppose I'm getting old, do you?

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend

I am as lazy as a spotted dog today...just poking about in my sewing room. Should make a binding for one quilt ,that will be my next move.

Jane, my friends wife was in the women's Land Army in England. She worked on a dairy farm and told us stories of all that had happened. She lead an amazing life!!

Larry, I am glad we don't have those bees here, we do have carpenter ants and that is bad enough.

Good afternoon, cloudy, but very hot day. I have been setting on the deck reading the Sunday paper. Of course also drinking my coffee.

June, I also was hoping we would see a message from Joan.

Amy, I think you deserve a day of rest.

Hal and Gloria, I hope you sleep better to night. Friday night I went to bed at 6Am and got up at 8.  I was good for nothing all day, but slept better last night.

Sandy, good luck with getting your cast off. I am hoping my cleaning lady can come back soon.  she fell and broke her ankle and also broke a tooth. Doctor told her she should b e able to walk in 8 weeks.  this is the 8th week.

Jane, cherries were on sale here at STop & Shop, for 1.99 a a lb. It is now strawberry season, but they are not that great, as we have had so much rain.

Jane, I really enjoyed the "Home Fire" series on Masterpiece and was disappointed when it ended.

And now the French Open tennis tournament is over.  I'm very limited for the channels available for watching live, but did get to see the ladies final yesterday and the men today.  the ladies were dull...  no aggression at all, it was like watching a couple of friends playing a couple of friendly sets at the municipal courts.  They never even seemed to perspire!  But the men really fought it out, even though Nadal took Warwaski in straight sets it was exciting.  Now for the next grand slam - Wimbledon in July.

Linedancer and Larry, well Carl had a good sermon this morning, not necessarily a rousing one but one on "reaping what you sow".  Irrational Giving.  As God gave his only son for us. And it cost me 30 bucks for an impromptu passing of the hat for other less fortunate.  I didn't do as he wanted, empty the billfold.   :)

Janie, enjoy your shopping baskets, I know I would.  Especially the Cherries. I could eat my weight in Cherries.

Denver

A good Sunday morning to EVERYFRIEND.

THANK YOU for the kind comments about our drive to Laramie.  It was fantastic!  We went quite early so the traffic was very light.  It is so green here in Colorado with all of the rain we have been getting.  The views were spectacular!  We have not been up that way in quite sometime and we're shocked to see all the building of homes and businesses.  Yikes!  The Birthday gathering was very enjoyable.  We met many of their long time friends, and found them all most interesting.  One lady is 97 and is just a delightful lady.  She looks great and has a mind that is remarkable.  My cousins have had many health issues and they are not doing all that good.  Makes us even more pleased that we went.

CAROL, Laramie has grown a LOT.  Lot's of new businesses and many more homes.  My 2nd cousin is the chief of police so Bob and Dale talked about some of the growling pains they are expierincing.  We drove back on 287 and I have to tell you we enjoyed the views SO much.  It was just spectacular.

SANDY, I hope your bone is well healed and that cast will be able to be cut off tomorrow!

JANE, I wish you and Karin a wonderful end of year party today.  How special.  Glad things are moving along well for getting the tree trimmed and getting that darn squirrel moved to a new local!  Happy you got your three baskets for 5$ today.  Sure would love to be able to shop for fresh veggies.  Happy for you.

JUNE, I totally agree with your comment regarding our son's and how their relationship is with their wife has a lot to do with how our son's are allowed to interface with their moms.  It is a very true fact.

I wish you all a good day.  We are hopeful we might get to see Son Mark and fiancé Megan today before they fly back to Arizona tomorrow.

I seem to have been lost again today. My mind gets involved in one thing, that leads to another and I never get back to where I wanted to be, which is here. After Church I got involved with answering some emails, then it was time to go back downstairs for Lunch, then home for the usual relaxing nap, then a necessary walk out side, then got lost on the computer, then an hours phone chat with my Santa Cruz son and now here. The whole day is nearly drawing to a close.

The sun did come out and chased away the June Gloom.not me...the month of June. I don't feel at all Gloomy.

Jenny, I think some of our married ladies are insecure, and must feel the need to have their husbands all to themselves, consequently the husband is between a rock and a hard place. He may feel the need to be closer to his birth family at times, but can't go there as his wife would be all out of sorts. I never had a problem with that, but I feel my husband resented my attachment to my Mom, so I would sneak visits while he was at work. We try to assure both of them, and that can be difficult.

Sandy, I hope the removal of the cast goes easily and well. And please be extra cautious now. I would not venture from room to room without my walker. I am much older than you, I know, but the body may still need help with balance, even at your younger age. I wish you the very best.

I have some emails that should be answered, so I will go and do that, then it will be time to reheat some stuff I had for lunch, so off I go........
As long as we are here, let's dance.

As if there isn't enough to deal with when you live alone, I now have an electrical problem to work out.  Both my son and my SIL have agreed that the fluorescent fixture over my stove doesn't work.  Neither of them can figure out why so tomorrow, my son will send his favorite electrician over to take a look at it.

If it's not one thing, it's another and with canning season coming on, I need light in my kitchen.  I sure hope it gets fixed tomorrow!

I suppose when I get the house working, the squirrels gone and the trees trimmed, my body will begin to fall apart!  Oh wait!  That already started!  Life is NOT a bowl of cherries but what would we do without it?

Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend.  I'm going to go watch some more of "HOME FIRES".

Thanks for the info, HAL but I don't think that would work.  This light is not surface mounted.  It's inside a custom built ?casing?.  To tell you the truth, I think that one would look nicer but there's nothing to mount it to that I can see.  And this one has to match 2 others that ARE working.

Good night Everyfriend!  Like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow.  My brain is finished for today.  And my body is "plumb wore out".

Good morning everyone, feel more rested this morning. Yesterday about all I did was doze on and off. I did listen to Don's program and enjoyed that. Checked email and talked to my daughter on Skype. Today I have to call to make an appointment to have the impression for the bottom teeth. Maybe then I can start eating what I like again. Getting by on every thing soft is getting old. Coffee tastes good this morning.

JANE  I have no hearing problems but at times I find it hard to understand the British accent. Right now I cannot even enjoy cherries.

AMY  those carpenter ants can sure do damage.

GLORIA de  most nights I sleep good  but I know the first night I have the AC running all night it keeps me awake. Last night I did not hear it.

HAL  since I do not keep much in my billfold I doubt anyone would survive with it.

JENNY  even in this town every time I go out I see new buildings going up. This quiet town is changing too fast. You make me jealous with your views. Every time I look out my windows at the parking lot I think of the website for this building and their “beautiful views”. Oldest son's wife wound never keep my son away. He is always so busy  and my DIL are close. She is a very thoughtful DIL. Second son's wife is something else. She would not keep him away from me either.

JUNE  I did not hear June Gloom from my daughter this year. She always thought of June that way in San Diego. My es kept me away from my family.

JANE  thank goodness I no longer have to worry about overhead lights. We are not allowed to use ladders here so the maintenance man has to change those bulbs. Only bulbs I have to buy are for my lamps.

Have a good day everyone. Hope this is the day Joan finally feels up to saying hello.
