Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Good morning..

We were met with ice/snow pellets when we went out! Did Spring take a vacation??

Managed to do a lot of brushing yesterday and will take it to the dump on Fri or Sat.

Jane watch where you place the raisins as dogs shouldn't get them.Found this  for you.

When dogs eat grapes of any kind and in any form, they are at risk of kidney (renal) failure. All types of grapes, whether cooked, seedless, peeled, dried, or fresh, are toxic to dogs, even in small amounts. You should also avoid giving your dog any grape products such as raisins, juices, jelly, or jam.

Enjoy your time out with your friends.

Patricia, is all your snow gone now?

Rick, thank you for posting photos of your azaleas. I am going to check and see if they can be grown in our zone.

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

Jane --- Good idea about the raisins.  It will likely take them a bit of time to learn.

Good late morning, I'm only now getting to the computer and S&F, it's been a busy and late start to the day.

Amy, I haven't been out the past few days but from what I see from my balcony, all the snow is gone. It's sunny, fifty degrees out, and we're expecting a high in the sixties.

Grapes and grape by-products are also toxic to cats. "It's well-known that grapes and raisins are toxic to dogs, but did you know that grapes are also not safe for cats, (and ferrets too); to eat either? We don't know why grapes are poisonous to pets, but the risks they pose, including kidney failure, are serious."

"According to the Merck Veterinary Manual, the majority of dogs with grape or raisin toxicosis experience vomiting or diarrhea within six to twelve hours of eating the fruit. Other clinical signs include lethargy, loss of appetite, increased thirst, stomach pain, weakness, dehydration, and tremors. Kidney failure develops within three days. In some cases, the kidneys shut down and stop producing urine. Most dogs who reach this point don't survive."

Another paradoxical fact is that the most common food allergen for both cats and dogs is chicken and chicken byproducts, yet the most common canine and feline cat food ingredient is chicken.

Both Trumpeter and Tundra swans have been sighted, a sure sign that spring has finally arrived here. No sign so far of the Whooper swan, also known as the Common Swan.

Also, I just read about the first wild siting of Dall sheep calves and Native ranchers report new reindeer calves.

Finally found my way back in.......no time to post right now but just wanted to say I am still alive and kicking.

Heading out to our grandson's lacrosse game.  It is seniors night so his dad will be going on the field with him.....just so sad that Michele is not here to share in this momentous occasion😢😢

Hurt my right shoulder a week ago so no typing for me.  I am doing this very gingerly 🥰🥰🥰
My best to you all.

Well, with everything you all said about the raisins, I might have to give it a bit more thought!  I'm thinking right now that the top of the outside A/C might be a good place to put them but then I'm also thinking that the squirrels can probably get up on there.  Of course, if I stood there and watched for them to come, the animals might not even try to get up on the A/C.  I'll have to give this some more thought!  Thanks for all the info!

Lunch with my friends was nice!  We all have some of the same memories and we share them and something new always seems to come up!  And we all talk about our families, too!  My SIL Craig used to work in the office there, too and they all knew him.  So I shared the pictures of Kyle's wedding with them and they loved hearing about that.  Some of them remembered when Kyle was born so his wedding was special to them!

I think I'm pretty much packed now.  About the only things I still have to pack with go in my carry on bag... like bathroom stuff and shampoo and my eye drops.

After Saturday, I won't be on here until I get to Cindy's and get set up!  I'll have to pack my computer on Sat and I'll be off until Wed. the next week.  I'll be able to read but not send from my phone!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way.  And don't forget to stop by and share it with us.  We'll miss you if you stay away!

Huh! Had a little trouble getting in today. Seems okay now.

Another cool day. We are expecting the repaving guys here today and tomorrow to resurface the entrance lane into the apartments. I don't believe they will be doing the parking lots.

We had a surprise downpour about mid-day yesterday and then it remained cloudy for most of the afternoon. It is 40o now, to get to 60o this afternoon.

On today's agenda is to start putting together a big shelving unit that arrived day before yesterday and look for a shorter file cabinet or nightstand. The one I picked out fits my criteria but won't suit Oscar. He has been using the boxes I have now to get to the top of his new perch rather than using the lower parts of the new cat furniture. What is nice is that he is using both the perch and the little "hovel" at floor level, and he doesn't seem to have to share either with Shan, who doesn't seem to have much interest in it.

I had trouble getting in here late last night. It worked, but very slow.
Nice morning here. The TelCo guys are back trying to set a new pole. They seem to be having a problem with rock in the ground. This area is fairly rich in granite, so I wish them well in their efforts. I've noticed my FIOS "wire" is hanging very low so if I vanish, that will likely be the cause.

Jane,  "9 HOURS AND NOT A SINGLE POST!" - There are so few of us left it doesn't surprise me there are long gaps. Everyone, tell your friends about us. We need new old people - or friends.

Good morning, forty degrees and sunny out there with no greenery yet, but birds are returning to the area and to the wildlife sanctuary, so people are heading out to get their avian fix.

It's very slow today on the computer, glad it's the site and not my computer.

Amy, we are lucky to have the Wildlife sanctuary so close, that a narrow finger lies within our city limits. It's breathtaking to see the huge flights come in, circling in smaller and smaller circles until landing. Each spring, workers spread tons of seed onto the public viewing area fields. The various birds will stop over to feed before moving further back into the refuge.

Jane, I know I'm sleeping, you posted at 2:22 AM my time!

Rick, I've given up on trying to get my friends to stop by here. They're simply not interested in social media, using computers only to deal with various official papers, email or play games. I've been cautioned a number of times about talking too much about them online.

JaneS

Hello!  Actually, PATRICiA!  My last REAL post was at 5 p.m. your time.  You are referring to the time I came back to check posts after my real one and no one had been in.

I need to inform you all that I will be packing my computer on Sunday Morning.  I'll try to say Good Morning but I'm not making any promises.  I have to be ready to leave when my son and DIL are ready to take me.  I'm hoping for around 4 p.m. Sunday but it could be earlier.  So my plan is to be packed by noon on Sunday!  And I don't have a lot of time on Saturday because Son and DIL want to take me out for dinner on Saturday since it's my birthday.

RICK, I hope the working guys don't bother your computer!  We'll miss you if you can't come by!

MG, it sounds like your kitties are making themselves at home in your new place.  I guess it doesn't take them long to do that.  I don't think I could do it so easy any more!

OK, I'll give you time to sleep!  I didn't think 9 p.m was so early for most of us!  But I guess it's getting earlier and earlier for me.  I turn off the TV around 8 p.m and I know my Gramma used to watch the news before she shut down.  But I also know she used to watch TV with her eyes closed a lot of the time and she wasn't as old as I am when we lost her!

Now I'm going to check out what's in the dinner I took out of the freezer.  Not going to eat until around 6 but If I know what it is, I can anticipate!  I wish you all a good rest of the day and a restful night.  Come back and check us out tomorrow.  I'll still be around tomorrow.  And I'll miss you if you don't show!

So far all's OK. The wire is still low, and if it gets broken I lose computer, TV, and phone. I'm curious as to what tomorrow morning's news will be.
But for now, goodnight to all who pass here.

Good morning...

Another cold one starting at 20° ..grass crunches under foot!

Loading all the bruch and taking it away this morning and will do some laundry afterwards. Lunch is Panera chicken and rice soup and supper is fish burgers with a few fries. We eat so little fries maybe 6-7 each not like we used to do.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I don't think I am fully awake yet. I didn't go to bed until late last night, got up at 4:30am to feed the very insistent cats, fell back asleep on the sofa until 7am. It is promising to be a nice sunny day today and tomorrow at least.

Yesterday I got the frames for my new shelving unit together. Today I need to tighten the screws and then screw the shelves in place. I went and ordered a small nightstand to put next to the cat tree. It has a much needed drawer and a shelf, and it will replace a cardboard box of books and small storage box that Oscar is using to get up on the  perch. Funny guy. He used that to get up and jumps down on the opposite side using the perch halfway down the post.

The road guys were out yesterday repaving our lane back to the apartments. It looks like they are done, even their heavy equipment is gone.

This weekend I plan on getting back to going through old papers, shredding the oldest and pulling pertinent info in preparation to get an estimate of what I may have to pay income taxes for the house sale for this year. It shouldn't be much, but I do want to estimate and pay ahead the income tax forms next year. Also, Sue wants to do some furniture shopping in Sunday, so we are doing lunch at Lin's for their Chinese buffet.

Okay, tea is done. Now I think I am awake enough to start the day's activities.

MarsGal - You're going to take a cardboard box away from a cat? Good luck. -- Just kidding, but when I had a cat he loved cardboard boxes and paper bags.
Your heavy equipment paving stuff may have  made it here. Large Black Top truck is at the corner fuming up the area. We've been under a "No Parking" warning for a week - for paving purposes. Noticed this morning they have extended that till the 30th.

We're sunny and plus 45 this Friday morning at 7:54. Farrah's fed, coffee on and meet and greets, plus morning chores are done for the day.

Farrah has been ignoring her perches since I've started opening the bedroom blinds again. She lies on the bed's end all cozy with a straight view to the outdoors, and she's now claiming the other end of the couch, closer to the living room sliders. I may simply get rid of the two cat trees, someone will claim them downstairs.

MG, it sounds as if you're joining Jane and Amy for the busy women's group, while Rick is seeing the last of the pavers.

The city is trying something new, discouraging street parking, and encouraging the use of driveways and parking lots. I've heard other parts of the state are doing the same.

Nothing scheduled other than those until a week from now, so I'm off to see what the world's been up to.

RAMMEL

A truck and a big machine just went by, taking about two inches off the top of the street. Amazing what these things can do.  I guess they recycle the old blacktop.

Not to worry, Patricia. They have plenty of empty cardboard boxes. Chewy is even so kind as to pack stuff with strips of craft paper or thin corrugated cardboard as separators. The corrugated cardboard, if put on a rug so it doesn't move around too much is a hit, as is the craft paper, running jumps, dives after tossed toys, etc. Do you remember when we had fun as kids jumping into a pile of raked leaves? This must be the cat version.

patricia19

Pet Pride, the organization I foster for, had a great idea. The red, black or other colored interlocking gym flooring? Cats love it to sleep on, play on or scratch their nails on.

Hello  Everyfriend!  It's nice to see all of you poke in and drop info for the rest of us.  You make us feel smart when we talk to people who don't come on here!

I'm almost all packed and I'm thinking that I might just pack the computer sometime tomorrow.  I'll try to check you out in the morning and then maybe pack the computer late in the day.  That way I can actually finish up the big suitcase and maybe even the little one.  That would just leave my overnight stuff to go to Christy's and be ready for the flight.

Tomorrow, I'm going out to dinner with son, Phil and DIL Sarah and with my Granddaughter, Frankie who is Cooper's "Mom"!  I don't know where we're going,  They started asking me and I hardly ever go out so I just said "surprise me".

I'm really tired tonight so I'm heading for the haystack.  Cooper won't be coming tomorrow but I'm still planning an early start!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Make the day your own but don't forget to share it with us!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special Good Morning to you, RICK!  Thank you for the good wishes for my trip.

I've decided that I'm going to come home from dinner with my family, check out what's on the computer and then pack it up!  Today is a big day in my life!  I don't feel like there have been so many years past!

I better get this day started.  I just finished my breakfast and I need to get out and do my walk before everything hits!  I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
