Another of Phyllis' beautiful creations.  :)

Chuckles....

*Things I've Learned From My Children*
01.  A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq.  foot house 4 inches deep.

02.  If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

03.  A 3-year-olds voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

04.  If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a superman cape.  It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.

05.  You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on.  When using the ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit.  A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

06.  The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

07.  When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh," it's already too late.

08.  Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

09.  A six-year-old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year-old man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.  Certain Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a four-year-old.

11.  Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

12.  Super glue is forever.

13.  No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on
water.

14.  Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.  VCR's do not eject PB&J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16.  Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.  Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.  You probably do not want to know what that odor is.

19.  Always look in the oven before you turn it on.  Plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.  The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.  The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.  It will however make cats dizzy.

23.  Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.  The mind of a six-year-old is wonderful.

Good Morning,

Looks as if I'm first on the new list - so I'll start by sending  :balloons:  from all of us to Joan - along with wishes for a speedy recovery.

I've had An Adventure!

About 5:30 last evening,  #2 granddaughter called.  She was on her way from OSU to dog-sit overnight for her aunt/uncle, who had gone to a wedding in Tulsa.
She was anxious about the possible stormy weather and quickly agreed when I asked if she'd like to have a "roomie" for the night.
She picked me up and we stopped for burgers and fries on our way to the " :dog2: house" .

Moose and Joe were delighted to see us and decided that I needed "close" companionship.   ::)  Once we settled that Lab is NOT spelled l - a - p,  we settled in to watch the NCAA basketball game.   I had one Lab over my feet and the other one as close to my side as he could get with one paw on my leg.
Miss Emily and I laughed when neither one would go out unless I walked onto the patio and watched until they were ready to come back in.

Instructions were to put the dogs out in the yard when Miss Emily was ready to head back to OSU this morning - but when we started to bring me home, the fog was so thick that we couldn't see the stop lights until we were almost under them.

She didn't want to drive the open country on the interstate in that sort of weather condition - so is now catching up on the sleep she didn't get last night.

I'm going to read the paper and then decide if I'll try to make it to church.  We couldn't even see the building when we came by it earlier.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good Morning Everyone, from the sunny and warming up,  rocky coast of Maine...    Lot's of snow on the ground but it should be all melted by tomorrow (or sooner)....    Last night we had many, many
snow plows doing their thing..   But today,  the sun can do its thing.

Callie... Sounds like you have a good time with Grand Daughter and dogs...   and the dogs sure did love the company, too!

"Sandy, you have done a great job of remaining independent and putting yourself in the right place to be able to do so. "  ....

Larry,
I was fortunate,  when I restarted my life here in Maine after
coming back from my cross country trip,  to be in a position
to be able to position myself in a place that would afford me
a place to live that is close to all my doctors,  hospitals,
children and grand children which has allowed me to be
independent,  until I physically of mentally no  longer can be.

Being single changes the way I had to view my future.

All is well here on the rocky coast....   and I am smiling because
the more I claim that Spring and Summer are on the way,
the closer that gets to be the truth, and not just
"wishful thinking" ..

Sandy

I'm home from church.  We stayed for coffee hour and then went to brunch with 2 church friends.  When I came home it was such a nice day that I went out with the doggies.  It's 54º and the sun is shining brightly.  Hard to believe that I had to scrape ice off my windshield before I could go to church.

I made some fresh coffee if anyone wants to join me.

Now I wait for a call from my granddaughter in Texas.  She's still picking my brain for her psychology class and 2 p.m on Sunday seems to be a good time for both of us.

Jeanne Lee, thanks for cleaning up the Soda Shoppe.  I like what you've done with it.

Our priest's sermon today was about TRUST.  It was based on the gospel story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.  She said something that I hadn't thought about and that was that Lazarus rising proved that we can trust God to take care of our needs.  Will this count as the "inspirational" part of the opening for this week?  I know I have to be reminded to trust God sometimes.  We can't do it without Him so we have to trust Him to be there for us.

Make today a good one, Everyfriend!

Thank you Phyllis for the lovely picture of our Springtime tulips, and thank you Jeanne Lee for bringing it to us, along with the fun Chuckles. You are doing a nice job for our Bis.

Callie….wow !! That was a thick fog you had to travel through. I can recall just one of those years ago. It is a frightening experience indeed. I'm glad you and your Grandaughter made it safely.

Good Morning Don, enjoy every minute of those 20 days you have left with your beloved.

Janie, with God, all things are possible. We can Trust Him.  We wouldn't be here if God didn't put us together to begin with, so we do our best to carry on, trying to make life better, and enjoy it as we go along.

Time for me to get ready for Chapel, so till later….Hugs and Love…..

Good Morning again,  back from church after the big storm, our area didn't get hit as hard as on either side of us.  No hail that I am aware of, just some very heavy rain, but didn't last long and lots of lighting.  Sun is out now and it is cooling off.

Janie, our sermon today was on happiness.  Our minister made a good point, happiness is a choice, you can have happiness if you want it or not have it, your choice.  But material things are not happiness.  You just have to depend on God and approach him and life humbly.  He made a good point too about how we don't have to have all the answers to everything.

I am hungry, so I am going grab some of Janies coffee and some ginger snaps, you want some?

Good afternoon, Sun is shining and no wind.

Jeanne Lee, I enjoyed the smiles from children, I like # 13, what a use for jello! Thanks for help our Joan, I know all the prays are going to help her come home faster.  Phyllis, love the Spring graphic thanks.

Don, I am enjoying your grand tour of Israel, You an Bubble look like you are having a wonderful time.

Amy, glad you got to sleep in, even if only a little extra.

Sandy, your g.grand could be a model what beautiful eyes.

Larry, this last time I came home from the hospital, they gave me a walker. I had my husbands before and he was 6ft. and I am 4 10, this one is a little smaller, but not that much. Had a funny spell this morning.  Took my shower at 5Am, went back 60 bed at 6:30, then I got chills and when I got up at 8, I was still shaking, after I turn the heat up I started to feel better. Now I am OK, but still very tired.

Hal, I am glad you are OK, after that storm. We know for days, when a hurricane is coming, but a tornado is scary.

Gloria, did I write I saw my first robing this past week. we just got 2in. of rain, glad it was not snow, that my g.son got in Vt.

I hope I can stay here as long as possible, A mobile home is not as big as a house.  there is one Assist. living out here, but very expensive. I spent 3 weeks in the nursing home, and I never want to do that again. Got me up at 7 and put me to bed at 9. Was not allowed to walk to the bathroom. I am use to being able to move around.

June, I understand when you say you get very tired, Yesterday I felt I could not even get out of my own way. I generally do not set and wtch TV during the day, but yesterday I did.  I even fell asleep here at the PC

Oh! they are here turning the irrigation on, he tells me I need three new heads in the back.

Jeanne Lee, I am still grinning about your Chuckles.... #2 & #8 especially, I sure didn't know that... and hope nobody in here sees if it's true.   :o  I know some people to send to that will enjoy those, good job!

What a pretty, spring graphic, Phyllis.... certainly doesn't fit the scene here this morning.  Down right chilly, had a little rain when coming out of church.  Some youth group had a fund raiser serving biscuits & gravy with scrambled eggs. We opted for that over McDonald's.  I had a hard boiled egg & couple pieces of toast before going to church but am ready for lunch.

Jane, our sermon was much the same...   I've always chosen to be happy, Hal, so have been a Pollyanna all my life.  Must admit to a lot of whining in here from me, so I will try to be better.

Callie, wish I could hire a pet sitter for these cats but they would starve before coming out of hiding for anyone, even my kids they've seen all their lives.  Not much fog here when I went to church, just a little as I drove over "the big ditch".... west of town, along the bypass.

I have a serious question for anyone with advice.... my DIL's mother has "early Alzheimer's" that is possibly much worse than the family really thought.  She lives in FL.  Youngest son visited this week to discover no food in the house, milk out of date & taking the wrong medicine.  She wrecked her car some time ago but didn't tall the kids and her friends are gone or moved.  She has trouble finding her way anywhere & back home.

My DIL planned to go sell her house & move her to KS when she is through teaching for summer.  Don't think her mother can wait that long, she refuses to consider moving into any care place in FL, sons were not treated well as children so are only helping with their mother because they care about their big sister, who always looked out for them. The retirement place the kids booked for her is already not possible, she will need more assistance if not the full care to not wander off.  Very sad & scary for the family.

Question is, 1. does anyone know if there is any type "home health care" in FL, 2. anyone know if there is a problem moving a person on Medicare to another state?  I have no idea about her financial situation, but am concerned about DIL being stressed & pushed into early Alzheimer's herself.... she has a gr-mother on one side & gr-father on the other side that had Alzheimer's & now her mother.  Also concerned since my son is reaching the age his father had a heart attack & by-passes (didn't know about the heart attack until after the surgery).

What is the best way to take control, talk to her doctor, lawyer for Power of Attorney?... Her mother was always strong willed to the point of driving everyone away & my poor DIL has never stood up to her.  I know it isn't my place to voice an opinion but if anyone has suggestions I can work them in some way, I think.  I do hope she doesn't know about reading these posts, she knows about y'all but I'm counting if she has ever tried to Google, it was under the old SeniorNet name. I figure all of you know more about growing old than people that aren't here with us, right?  Thanks for any suggestions....

Hi, GloriaDe  Hope you feel stronger fast. Do you think any of this tireness is just "needing a spring tonic" like my mother used to say?  I think I could sleep around the clock.

Love the Spring graphic Phyllis made, thank you Jeanne Lee for posting it.I had to smile at your Chuckles. One time my sister's cat climbed it the dryer that had the twins snow boots in..my sister thought the boot had knocked the door open and shut and turned it on again. That poor cat got pounded by the boots but did live to tell about it....he never went near the dryer after that!!!

Shirley, that is a tough call for your dil to have to go through..maybe she could talk to her Mom's Dr. tell him what is going on and see if he could advise her on what route to take.

Gloria, you asked me if I had made ginger snap cookies and I am sorry I forgot to answer........yes..they are my son's favourite cookie.

Callie, I don't care to drive in fog like that! Makes your eyes so sore from trying to see the white lines on the highway.

Back to do more sewing :)

Back from an excellent Service. We had a guest Speaker, Lillie Knauls. She sang her message. Very inspiring.

Hal, your Minister hit it right too…Happiness IS our choice. And we can't do it alone. I find that without faith in the One who created me, and His guidance, I can do nothing. With God, all things are possible.

Gloria de, it is very costly living in a care facility, but if you take the time to figure out what it costs you every month to live in your own home..every check you write, not just utilities but rent, yearly taxes, groceries, transportation, yard work, every expense you now have and then look into a care facility, you will find it is NOT that costly for the services you receive, and the confidence you feel in what you receive, cannot be measured in dollars. The cheaper the place the less you have at independence. In my experience, it is best to look for a place run by a religious organization. We had an Episcopal one in Sierra Madre, I am in a Quaker one now. Whatever your Faith, look to see if they have a Care facility. A nursing home is not a good choice unless you are indigent..in my opinion.

I have to scoot downstairs for lunch now. Back later.

Jeanne Lee, such a pretty graphic this morning.

Gloria Z, Tom was a youth pastor when he first got out of seminary.  He kept at it for a few years, then left the ministry.  Anyway, I sent him the piece about the Youth Ministry.  I am sure he'll enjoy it.

Jeanne Lee, I laughed out loud at some of the chuckles this morning.

Dot and I did our usual this morning, church, then OTB.  We made a slight change today and split a tuna melt; usually I have a hamburger and Dot has an oliveburger.

Now I'm watching the golf tour in Mississippi.  I had been watching the one in Houston but they went to NBC so I stayed with the Mississippi tour.  Well-known players are in both of the tours.

Shirley, that is quite a problem your DIL has and I don't envy you.  Distance makes it harder to cope with.

I just finished my weekly call with my granddaughter for her psychology class.  We could probably finish the class things in about 20 minutes but we talk about so many other things that we end up talking for more than an hour (this time almost an hour and a half).  I think she likes this as much as I do.  She is finding out lots of things about family and friends that she never suspected as she was growing up.

One thing she told me, her application for a Fellowship at Menninger clinic was approved but they have offered the two spaces to two other applicants.  Should one of them turn it down, she will be asked to accept it.  She told me she had an interview with another facility on Friday and she felt good about the interview.  I think she really wants the Menninger one but will not be devastated if she doesn't get it.  She said that there are some other possibilities in the Houston area and she will move on if necessary.  This is one young lady who not only has it all together' she knows where it is!  I'm so proud of her, I'm aglow!

Now...what shall I do with the rest of the day?

Jane, that is pretty impressive to even be in the "calling" at Menninger.  Congratulations to her either way.

Thanks, Mary Ann... she (DIL) has worked so hard as a math teacher & loves her work. She has an Industrial Engineering degree & worked for an aircraft company until they wanted kids.  They agreed she stay home until the kids were in school,  she volunteered at school enough to go back for a teaching degree.  She is head of the department & her students have won impressive awards and she really would like to be there for the end of the year.  Don't know how it will play out but hope there are home health care or some type help she can get so DIL can hold off until the first part of June.  Not sure when classes are out here.

Thanks, Shirley.  She is currently doing an internship at Menninger and she met one of the interviewers in the hall and he told her that they were all VERY impressed with her interview and that she will be called immediately if one of the other two turn them down.  Cathy said that she's not counting on it but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying every time I stop and think about it.  She really likes what she's doing there now and would be able to continue with some of it.

Please, Everyone, say a prayer for Natalie!

Count on my prayers, too, Jane.  Tell Natalie "the old Aunties & Uncles are a fearsome force with our prayers"...

Hugs to all, it has been a long day for me.  Tom (cat) is still out, been gone since early afternoon.  I saw a wild turkey pacing up & down just outside the wrought iron fence out back.  Grabbed a camera & in my rush to get out I made too much noise & it flew off.  Yesterday I did get photos of a whole flock of turkey vultures.  The photos are still in the camera, not sure any are worth posting, hard to capture their movements with a zoom.

Sweet dreams to all, God Bless and bring you happiness tomorrow!  Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  They're promising us weather intyo the mid 60s today and I'm ready for that!  It's supposed to rain but not until around 8 tonight.  I can take that if the days are nice.

I don't know what I'll be getting into other than picking up Kiran after school.  I should make a quick run to the Amish store and both dogs need baths.  We'll see what develops.  I'll let you know if I'm up to any or all of that.

Make today your best yet!

Good morning.  Thanks, Jeanne Lee, for using one of my graphics.  And, I loved the Chuckles you posted!  #19 brought back a painful memory.  Also, thanks to all of you who mentioned that you liked the graphic.  And, thanks for telling us about what's going on in your lives.  I love reading about all of it.

Sorry I didn't show up yesterday.  I had plans to "do something" but ended up being a "recliner radish", as Callie says.  That was what my body said I had to do but my brain was grumbling because it thought I needed to do other things.  June is right...sometimes we have no choice but to do what our body tells us to do.

Gray morning here with the promise of rain later today.  More severe storms in the Southwest (glad you are OK, Hal) but "they" don't think we will have any here.  Hope "they" are right.

Jane, I'm so impressed that Natalie is interning at Menninger!  When I was in college at Kansas State my major was English Lit. and I knew I would eventually write the "great American novel".  My minor was Psychology and I had big dreams of going to Menninger Clinic.  That is way back in ancient times when the clinic was in Topeka, KS, not far from K State.  Neither dream worked out but I hope so very much that Natalie's dream will happen for her.

Laundry day today so need to find some breakfast and get myself busy.

Thank you, Phyllis.  I have this "gut" feeling that she will achieve this dream but if it isn't meant to be, she will adjust her dream and she will do something very important with her life.  She isn't just a top student.  She is a very valuable person in her own right.  She has overcome a huge obstacle in her life and her dream is to help others to overcome their obstacles.  If she gets the Menninger fellowship, she will finish as a licensed psychologist eligible to hang her shingle.  I am so proud of all her achievements that I'm fit to bursting with pride!

Merry Monday, Everyfriend,

JaneS,  so exciting about your granddaughter Natalie!  I've enjoyed reading about your weekly visits re: family and am way beyond thrilled about her opportunity at the Menninger Clinic.  "Betcha boots" prayers will be said for her success as she works toward her professional goals.

Shirley,  it's hard to be a "long distance child" when tough decisions must be made about life changes. "Been there - done that" and have seen others in the same situation.
In my experience and observation, the best results were when a family member was physically present to hear the doctor tell the patient there had to be changes made and be able to ask questions directly.   Then the family wouldn't hear an edited version.

Son/dil have shelters for the Labs on the patio so, ordinarily, they wouldn't have had a doggie-sitter when son/dil were just going to be gone overnight.  However, the weather was iffy and Moose has storm anxiety issues.

Phyllis,  I didn't realize the Menninger Clinic was no longer in Kansas.  Where is it located now?

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable day.

Hi everyone.  We wake to an overcast day with the prospect of rain increasing through out the day. We expect to get to bout 75 degrees here today.

The activities surrounding the Master's Golf Tourney got underway yesterday although the actual tournament doesn't start until Thursday.  This is a week not to venture over to Augusta to eat out as the restaurants are packed from what I understand.  Many businesses depend on this week to get them into a profitable position for the year.

I haven't decided whether I will go to my Monday noon meeting or not as still feeling tired this morning.  Yesterday I ended up not going to church as my heart was acting up and I felt it wasn't safe to be driving.  So I ended up spending most of the day laying down and also went to bed early last night but still didn't want to get up this morning. I did go out at noontime and got us something to eat.  I fear I am reaching a point where I am going to have to cut out a few things from my schedule, although don't have a lot of things to cut out and hate to think about giving any of them up.  Guess I will just make the decisions day by day.

Jeanne, thanks for getting us started off so well. It sounds like practical experience speaking in those Chuckles.  The graphic from Phyllis is very nice and applicable for this time of the year.

Callie, nice of you to keep your Granddaughter company as she dog sat.  I am sure it gave you some special time for just you two.  That sounds like some heavy fog.

Sandy, as fast as time seems to pass as we age it sue won't be long until you are into Spring and Summer big time.

JaneS, nice that your granddaughter wants to know of your background and life experiences. She sounds like a very special person who will have a lot to offer others.  Based on our Wisdom group on Thursday I know that our Pastor was also going to preach from the Lazarus raised from the dead Scripture.  Sorry I missed the sermon but in a couple of day can listen to it from the Church website.

Hal, that storm system must have gone on over to Louisiana and Mississippi as see this morning there were tornado's and flooding in those States. I also believe being happy is a choice and that is how I try to live my life.

deAngel, these heart conditions can reduce the amount of blood flowing to our bodies and make us more responsive to the cold.  I understand "tired" as am beginning to feel like I did yesterday so more rest is likely in store for me shortly.  I sure wouldn't like not being allowed to go to bed until 9 pm if I wanted to go earlier, which is often the case.  It almost sounds like they were keeping you a prisoner.

Shirley, I would rather be a Pollyanna type than an old grouch and it sure helps me feel better about each day.  We all have problems but we also can decide how long we will let them keep us down.  My suggestion would be that your DIL contact the Agency for Aging in Florida and also where she plans on moving her Mother.  We moved my folks from a nursing home in Missouri to one in Northern Iowa and had no problems with Medicare although they were private pay patients. Also would suggest that she contact the Alzheimer's Association as they can certainly provide helpful information and probably answer some of her questions and that situation must often arise with older folks living in Florida with no family around.

June, my folks were in a Lutheran care home in Iowa and for the most part we were very pleased with it.  There were very caring people.

Callie, perhaps Jane can verify this but I believe it (Menninger Clinic) is in Houston now.  It began in Topeka back in the early 40's.

Good morning everyone, finally had a good night's sleep. Could be because it was sunny yesterday and warmer. Just heard local weather, tomorrow and Thursday we are in for a lot of rain.

AMY  I am glad that here we have the big walk in showers, I had already bought a seat for the tub where I was living and brought it here with me. The toilets are high ones here, too. When I first read that Youth Minister I thought of my older son and DIL. They had the youth group from their church. I remember some of the things they came up with for the kids.

DON  I know you and Bubble have enjoyed your time in Israel.

LARRY  even with that list of acronyms in front of me they would drive me bonkers. Getting so people will forget how to talk, just use letters instead of words.

JEANNE LEE  Phyllis does have wonderful creations. I remember your creations in PSP, too. Good chuckles. Thanks.

PHYLLIS  remember the early days of PSP when you said you would never be good at it?

HAL  ginger snaps and cold milk for me, always liked that.

My CNA is here so will be back later.

I do remember, Gloria.  It took me a long time to learn it.  I enjoyed it for so many years and even went on to learning Photoshop.  Now, however, I don't do much in graphics creation at all.  Once in awhile I submit something to Joan for use in SodaShoppe but most of my stuff has been archived and Jeanne Lee has access to that while Joan is recuperating.

Some days I miss doing it.  It really occupied a lot of my time and attention a few years ago.  I would even wake in the middle of night with some sort of "inspiration" and couldn't go back to sleep until I got up and did something about it to try to translate the thought into a graphic.  Now, I lack both inspiration and incentive, I'm afraid.  ;-(

Good Morning Everyone!

Beautiful sinshinny day here, going to be very warm and no bad weather forecast for this week.  I have no appointments this week, just need to accomplish a few little jobs.

Larry, big week in your area with the Master's taking place.  I will be looking in on that event, although I don't get too excited about it like I used to.  First place with my eyesight not what it used to be I have a hard time following the ball in flight and also finding the hole on the greens when they are putting.  But Augusta course is so beautiful it is almost like a picture post card.  I read somewhere that they close the course for the summer after the masters because of heat and humidity.  Is that true?
a couple of my golf buddies, of old, now since gone on, used to go every year and rent a house for the whole week.  Both had lost their wives and had grown up together, one lived in another town but would come to San Antonio just to play golf with the other.

Terrible what happened in Russia this morning.

Hope everyone has a great day and week.

Good afternoon, and I still am not dressed.  Cloudy but mild day, no wind. Would you believe to morrow is rain again.

Larry, I understand how you feel.  since this last go round in the hospital I stay very tired. There is a Red Hat luncheon  Thursday at a restaurant about a half mile from here, I might try and go , just to get out.  My friend said she would let me off at the front door.  also there is a Lassie meeting to morrow (women's club in the park) but I do not plan to go trying one day out will be enough. not going to Homemakers Friday either. I am use to being able to go. Homemakers and Lassies do not meet in the summer.

Thinking about Joan, and all my other cyber friends.  Hugs to all

Almost nine thirty in Stanton, Ca., and noon time on the East Coast, but you are all just a page away…so here I go, to see how all you dear, dear, friends are doing.

Amy..shame on that Vet for leaving a stitch behind. You should get a discount on your bill.

Jane, how often do you bathe the dogs? I used to do a lot of brushing on mine but not too many baths. They all, down through the years, found a bath distasteful to the nth. degree. Penny, my last little one would hide in her cage and I would have a terrible time getting her out…I was old, and she was old and stubborn.

Larry, you are wise to listen to your body. We can push ourselves just so far,and then learn to be careful. There is much I still want to do, but as the day gets to be past noon, I start to fade, so have to just pass up the fun things and behave. You have not only yourself to care for but your wife needs your help too, so rest as much as possible.

Phyllis, Yes, Menninger Clinic moved to Houston in 2012. They have 50 acres there.

Gloria, did you ever do PSP ? Regina is so talented, I thought perhaps she learned from you. My mother did pastel pictures and was very good. I have three of them on my walls here. And of course my son was a Graphic Artist for some big companies. I can draw a straight line so the talent did not reach me.

Hal, I am glad you are free of medical trips this week. Enjoy your leisure as much as possible. What happened in Russia ?????? I haven't had any news on as yet.

Gloria de, I do hope you will be able to go to the Red Hat luncheon. We have a Red Hat group here at Rowntree and I was invited to join, but I declined. I only want to go where I feel up to it, not be obligated to attend.

CALLIE  only once did I have to drive in thick fog. At night and used the lines in the road to know where I was. Then turned down the road to home and could only see the grass at the edge of the road. Sure was relieved when I pulled into my yard.

GLORIA DE  more than once I have had my breakfast and went back to bed. Accordding to local news tomorrow and Thursday we are in for about an inch of rain. I do have to go out on Thursday. Not looking forward to that. I know we do need more rain. I have a few umbrellas but cannot use them and my rollator. Glad I do have a rain jacket and hood on it.

SHIRLEY  I copied Jeanne's chuckles, too. Will have to send that to my grandson so he ca keep an eye on his son. You whine? I never saw you do that. Yellig about the expensive lemon you have would make anyone scream. I feel bad for your DIL but I am no help.

AMY  home made ginger snaps are so much better than any that one can buy. Sure wish I could bake some again.

MARY ANN   I sent that youth Minister to my daughter, her younger son is active with the youth in his church, just helping. Hope Tom enjoys it.

JANE  it would be womderful if Natalie got the job she really wants. Prayers that she gets it.

SHIRLEY  I did get a few pictures of wild turkeys going throug my son's orchard. Too many in the groups to count.

AMY  hope the vet makes sure he/she gets all the stitches out this time.

JANE  I walked around the parking lot when my CNA left aand think I will go for another one when I finish here. Beautiful day, in the mid 50's.

LARRY  hope you feel much better today.

PHYLLIS  I have not done mush of any PSP since getting this computer. Had problems getting plugins installed. Lost all my codes for the Eye Candy ones and most new tuts use them. When taking the lessons at times had a hard time with one and would get up in the middle of the night to work on it till it sank into my brain.

HAL  I remember once misspelling a word and how you teased me, now I do not think I ever heard of a sinshinny day before.   :2funny:  ;D

JUNE  I was doing PSP before the ones doing it now started. Bunnie is the one who got me started way back in SN. Remember the birthday cards you used to get from us? One was from me. My daughter does have talent, mine is using the PSP program and taking lessons for it. As JOAN used to say about it, you never learn all about it. She did some wonderful creations till she got ill.

Hal, she knows because I told her....just kidding but she's right.  There's only on "N" in the second part of the word.

June, I give them a bath when I can't stand the smell any more.  Or in Annie's case, when she looks dirty.  I also have a dry cleaner that I use on them once in a while.

You are all correct.  Menninger clinic is in Houston.  That's where Natalie and her husband are.  He's working on his PHD and she will receive her Master's Degree this May.  She is currently finishing an internship at Menninger AND

Not sure what is happening today,I hope just cleaning the house and sewing

Jane, have a great day at work.

I hope it is every thing that she wants. She is fulfilling a dream of hers. Must make her grandma feel so proud she is “popping her buttons”

AMY  don't know when the rain started here but it will be raining all day. Glad I went out and enjoyed the beautiful day yesterday.

Hi everyone.  After a rough day around this area yesterday with heavy rains and several tornados in our county and in Augusta, across the river, this is a exquisite day.  It is clear and sunny and we expect to get to 85 degrees this afternoon.  However, the forecast for tomorrow is more of what we had yesterday and then it is to cool down and clear off and should be perfect for the Master's Tournament, which starts on Thursday.

I just completed fixing Pat's scrambled egg and strawberries breakfast and then grated two pounds of cheese, which isn't hard using the grating appliance we have.  The hardest part is cutting the cheese into strips.  I plan on trying to get to Aldi's today as the refrigerator is getting low on several items.  That will be the limit of my endurance for today.  Fortunately I know where things are located at Aldi's and the store is small.

My next door neighbor is moving out today as they are going back to Texas.  The moving van is being loaded.  This is the neighbor that has two Bentley vehicles, one of them new and he brought one, if not both of them here on the moving van.  They have been nice neighbors and I hate to see them move as pretty sure I won't have anyone else living next to me with even one Bentley.

Phyllis, I think your graphics, and those of others that have shared through the years, are just fantastic.

Hal, the electronic tools they now have to follow a golf balls flight in the air is really something.  I wouldn't have wanted to have been at the Master's course yesterday as they had to evacuate it a couple of time due to the lightning and the tornado's and strong winds in the area.  I told my wife a couple of days ago that I think my cataracts are getting worse as not able to read as easily as in the past.  Probably next year will have to have them taken care of.  I don't know whether they close the course after the Master's or not. I did a Google search on the questions and found the following, which seems to answer your question:  But a little known fact is when members want to tee it up during the summer, they have to find another course. At the end of May, Augusta National closes and doesn't open again until the middle of October. Local sports writers say the reason is because of the summer heat and during that time changes to the golf course are made. They are expecting 250,000 people to be in town for the events this week.

deAngel, I sure hope you feel up to attending your Red Hat event as it is important that we keep up some type of social contact. While our discussions here are a good substitute they are not the same as face to face get togethers.

June, I must admit my biggest concern is my wife when something happens to me.  My son is also not in great health.  However, I try not to worry about that as we never know what tomorrow holds and we will deal with that when it arrives.

Gloria, I hope the storms we had yesterday don't come up your way.

JaneS, did you say you send your dogs to the dry cleaners?  Just joking with you.  How great that your granddaughter got the fellowship.  Certainly a good reason for the big red letters.  She must be ecstatic.

Jenny, next time you lose your posting like that and haven't closed the tab, hit the back button as it will usually take you back to what you have written.  Hope you have felt like making your trip today as know you really enjoy it.

Lloyd, hope the headache didn't last too long today.

I have a question for anyone... Instructions for my hearing aids specify not to let them get wet.  This means, of course, that for every shower and shampoo I need to remove them completely, which means I can hear absolutely nothing over the sound of the running water.  Does anyone know of a way to keep the shampoo away from them?

Good Morning Everyone!

Well my day started with a stopped up kitchen sink.  Wife put some stuff through the garbage disposal and stopped things up.  But the young man next door fixed it in short order.

Gloria, I stand corrected, guess my tongue got around my eye tooth and my fingers couldn't see what they were typing.  That's my story and I'm sticking with it.  You got to admit when I screw up I do a good job of it.

Amy, honey?  Doesn't that make her lick it more?  I do hope she gets better soon.  Those incisions can make a nasty scar if they don't heal quickly.  We used "bitter apple" spray on ours incision and she quit licking it.  But it left a nasty scar.  My wife took our Boxer to the vets this morning for grooming and she took him to back to put in cage there was a young Boxer in the next cage and wife said our Boxer looked really mature and old, but Lady is getting old, outside in the light her muzzle and ears are nearly white.  She is such a good old girl though, spoiled rotten and I wouldn't have it any other way, except when she wants to imitate a five year old kid and run in and out of the house.

Janie, hope you have a good day and have noting but smiles at work.

Joanie, I wish you would get yourself home.  You are missed.

Lloyd hope your headache goes away quickly.

Talk to you all later.

Another new day, starting out cloudy, but I'm sure the sun will break through soon. We are still in the mid 70's, and dry.

Jenny, Sorry you lost your post, that can be so frustrating. It is usually my own carelessness when it happens to me. Is Carol a close neighbor ? Maybe she is eager to get home so she will get less visitors. Seems she is always busy with entertaining.

Lloyd, sorry you woke up with a headache, that is not a pleasant way to start your day. keep well, and don't work so hard. Take time to smell the roses.

Janie, I wish you a good and happy day at work. What do you put in your recipe for dog food ?

Amy, I hope you get your wishes about having a peaceful day doing what you want. You work so hard all the time.

Gloria, I was so curious about the sunshining I looked it up. It is really two separate words. Sunshine is a noun, Sun Shining is a verb, two separate words.  We would say, "the sun is shining." Correct me if I am mistaken.

Larry, I'm sorry you are losing you good neighbor and the impressive Bentleys. I had cataracts removed from both eyes some years back and it was like a miracle to have the good sight again. Now it seems to be failing again, but it must be natural aging for me this time. And I do a great deal of reading throughout the day. Larry, to relieve your concern about you wife if you should die first, why don't you look into the options available in your area or nearby. Not to make a move, but to be able to give her an idea of what she could do money-wise, and comfortably. It would give you peace of mind just knowing that you have left her with options of care.

Hal, I too am wondering about the honey on the dogs ear. And how would she get her tongue to her ear anyway…a long tongue, or a long ear ?????? Gives me something to ponder when my brain needs pondering.

I have a meeting at ten, so I had better get dressed and prepared.

Good afternoon and the sun is not shinning.  Pouring rain, beautiful day to morrow, and then thursday more rain.  Of course that is the day of our RH luncheon.

Jane, you and your family must be so proud of Natalie. She and her husband would make any family happy and proud.

Jeanne Lee, I take my hearing aid out when I shower, I do not want to take any chances.

Jenny, I hope you made the trip.  Now that I can not go anymore, I miss the trips to Foxwood or Mohegan Sun in Conn. The senior center had a bus trip every month,  We had to take the ferry from Orient Pt. to New London, and hour and a half ride each way.  Made for a big day out.

safe travel Carol.

Hello Everyfriend!  When I got home from work, I came by and read and wrote a post and xd it out.  I was too tired to try to retrieve it and I had a headache that was leaking out my eyes and ears, creeping around to the back of my head and sneaking right down my spine all the way to my feet.  Now that's a headache!  I took a couple ibuprophen, wrapped myself in a blanket and spent the afternoon on the couch.  I'm happy to say the headache is gone...all of it!

JUNE, the dog food I make is started with a premix that I buy that has about 7 different grains and about 7 vegetables.  You reconstitute it with boiling water and when it's ready you add oil for their coats and protein (ground turkey, chicken, lamb, venison, bison, tuna or whatever.  I also put in a powder for fighting fleas and ticks.  The love it and they know the sound of the bowl and spoon and are right behind me the whole time.

Thanks to those of you who continue to congratulate Natalie.  I've made a composite of all your congratulatory notes and I'm going to send it to her.  I included your names and which state you live in.  I'm sure she has no idea where all the extra prayers in her behalf came from.  My prediction....she'll cry!  In our family we all "Cry for HAPPY!"

Now the puppies are making their presence known and are also conveying the fact that they need dinner so I better go feed them.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

MARY ANN, you did mention that you sent messages to your kids about the twins.  So nice to share their answer.  I couldn't help noticing that they call you AMA.  I'm guessing that stands for Aunt Mary Ann.  I'm AJ to my niece, nephew=in-law, nephes and grandnieces and grandnephew.  I love it!

I'm going to get off the computer now and rest my eyes.  Enjoy what's left of your evening.

Jane, yes, AMA stands for Aunt Mary Ann.  They don't call me that; it's just in writing.

Terry's wife's mother used to be called Ama but when we started using AMA, she changed hers to Oma.  Hers is pronounced Ahma where if mine were voiced, it would be A M A, all three letters.  Only they all call me Aunt Mary Ann.

Jeanne, Even with the water resistance capabilities of modern hearing aids, most recommend you remove your hearing aids prior to any aquatic activity.

Sorry all I can come up with including taking a quickie :O)

Jeanne Lee I am another unfortunate with hearing aids. even the moisture of presentation is harmful to our aids, I have a dryer that i put my aids in with some kind of block to draw the moisture out of them and into it also has heat.
My aids are state of the art furnished through V A by you tax payers ( thanks).
I tell people they are little bit beter than nothing at all. I can hardly here most
people over the phone. But now I have a device I ware on a cord around my neck that when you call me on my cell phone it after answer and close the phone back up and put in my pocket or click answer on the device , it put's both
receive and transmit to and from my aids (hands free same as a blue tooth)
I have a lot of fun doing a phone conversation with my phone closed and in my pocket. people sure give you some funny looks. one time I was in a insurance agents office he was in the back room getting something, i took a call. he came back in and gave ma a long look, and asked my wife is he crazy or what sounds like what he is saying may be 1/2 of a phone conversation . she said no and it is and explained to him, well it is time to wish you all a good night and sweet dreams.hope to see you all tomorrow.

Running late tonight, so I must make this quick.

I did not take the bus to the mountain this morning.  I got up and it was snowing like crazy.  I got on line and found that the roads were in bad condition, so knew it was best for me to just go back to bed.  It cleared up this afternoon, and the sun was even shinning when the bus returned.  It was short lived and the snow started again and it is still coming down with vengeance. The weather guessers say we will get up to blue skies, but I am sure wondering right now.

Yes, JUNE.  Carol lives in a community probably less than a half mile from me.  Sadly, we do not see each other that much, but we always enjoy getting together when we can.  I hope they will have a easy drive in tomorrow and the weather will not be a issue for them.

GLORIA de, I was disappointed to not be able to go today.....but as it turned out I was not feeling all that well, so things have a way of working out for the best.  This evening I had a call telling me about the death of a dear friend from high school days, son that passed away suddenly.  It was a accident, a fall, and the parents are in shock and heart broken.

JANIE, sorry to read about your headache, but sure are glad you were able to rest and get rid of it completely!  We are criers too, so I sure understand how your Natalie will feel when she reads about your caring friends.

LARRY, it is sad to have good neighbors move on.  I do hope the new owners will be nice folks also.  Thank you for the suggestion of hitting the back key...I will try that the next time... I got happy fingers and hit refresh as it said there were new posts....not a smart move.

HAL, clogged kitchen sink is not a good way to start the day...sure glad your neighbor was able to help you out.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning Everyfriend!  Mickie got us up this morning.  She needed to go out so that began our morning.

Amy, I keep forgetting to ask you if you are near Paris, ONT and if you've ever been to a Fair that is held there.  I was reading a Reader's Digest article on food at fairs and they talked about something that is sold at the fair in Paris, Ontario.

I haven't decided what I'm going to be up to today.  I do have to go to the bank and I think I'll stop and pick up some snacks for the doggies.  They're almost out and that will never do!  And I have to stop at the eye dr. and beg more drops.  After that, whatever I do will be at home.  There's plenty to do here but I'm not sure I want to do it.

I'll be off to Wally World at 3 for my evening shift.

Coffee's ready!  Anyone want to join me?

Jeanne Lee, I'm slow to answer your question about showering and hearing aids.  I only wear one aid because my right ear has 0% hearing so an aid wouldn't help.  I always take the aid out when I shower and put it in the drying box.  I generally try to take a pretty quick shower so don't think I miss much of what needs to be heard.  I can't think of any protection that would keep an aid a 100% dry while in the shower so to avoid the high cost of buying a new one I just play it safe.

Sunny and warm here this morning but storms predicted for tonight.  It is, after all, Spring.

Jane, I'm so pleased and impressed that your granddaughter was given the Fellowship at the Menninger Clinic.

Jeanne Lee I am a slow thinker now days but now and then I hit a good note.
I have forgot to remove my hearing aids and got in the shower with them in. when i realized they were still in, i steeped out and removed them laid them
on the counter and finished my shower. after showering I went and got a air assail (dust buster) spray can and blew the water out of them and blew them dry never hurt them at all, I then put them in a dryer i have for them. are supposed to dry them ever night. Va gave me my dryer so do not know the cost of them. it is corrosion that dose the damage not moister as long is it is not left in them. just open up the battery so cant short out.hope this helps.

Good morning everyone, a very wet day yesterday, a gray one today and another rainy day tomorrow. I rescheduled my appointment for tomorrow.

LARRY  we had over 2 inches of rain yesterday but not windy. A few rivers reached flood stage. Tomorrow they are worried about more rain and the rivers flooding. Heard on Thursday it will be more windy.

JEANNE LEE  I don't have hearing aids but I cannot hear anything but the water when I am in the shower.

HAL  I was only teasing you about that like you did me about a year or more ago. I am not smart but I do remember pretty good. Then none of us are perfect. I know I have trouble hitting the right keys and have to read over what I type before posting.

AMY  I have read several times about honey being used for healing.

JUNE  I am not an English teacher it was the way SUN was misspelled I was teasing about.

GLORIA  DE  not raining today but cloudy still no sun shine. Not a nice day to go outside for fresh air and just might bundle up this afternoon for some. I dislike it when I cannot get out for at least a short walk and some fresh air.

JANE  hope today is a better one for you without another miserable headache.

JENNY  glad the 2 inches of rain here yesterday was not snow, could have been 2 feet of it.

AMY  enjoy visit with son and DIL.

LLOYD  wow so you are selling your farm at last but it will still be in the family, Will be good for you and Nancy not to have to worry about it.

PHYLLIS  April showers? Fine without thunder storms.

I read yesterday that Tesla is now worth more than GM, which is hard to believe.  I have never owned a Beetle but still see the newer ones on the road.

June, that is a good suggestion to begin to gather some information on some assisted living places around here.  I will have to look into that.

Lloyd, my former boss and good friend has had hearing problems for many years.  The last time I visited him he showed me a device similar to what you describe to help him hear on his phone and also on his TV.  Modern technology is really something along with improvements in hearing aids.  Glad to see you have decided to sell your farm to your grand daughter and her husband.  It sounds like you will be able to still be on the farm with a much smaller living area but still have your shop.

Larry, I think it is always a good plan to look into things while we are capable of making decisions. It prepares us ahead of time for what we may not be able to understand later.

Gloria, I was concentrating on the two N's  Hal put in shining and skipped the sIn area completely till I re-read the message.

Lloyd, I think you and Nancy are very wise to sell the farm to your Grand children. It will still be there for you to live, but the responsibility will be on your Grandsons youthful shoulders. God Bless you both.

Jenny girl, you are wise to stay at home when you are not real feeling A-1, and the weather made a good decision for you.

Janie, enjoy your free day and your evening work at W.M. I recall you saying you like those hours. By all means, you must have snack/treats for those two wonderful pups.

Only one thing on my "to do" list today….our Bible study at 10 a.m. And since it is now 9 a.m. I had better get myself dressed for the trip downstairs.

I'm in reading posts off & on all day but get side tracked & don't post myself.... bottle it all up & then it comes out a book.  Sprinkler guys came with their detector & found the problem right away, could have saved money if they'd brought it the first time, but it's done & hopefully won't need another fix for a long time.  The molding for the RV should be delivered today, will decide when I get up to see what the top looks like if I want to tackle both sides front to back or if I can just do both sides front only.  Not a big job, only need a tad of a certain kind of glue at each end to seal.  We had rain all night again, river is up over my path for the 2nd time this week, but it needed a good cleaning out.  I finally realized my NEW rain gauge leaks, when it was raining hard the other day it showed about 2" & later was not that full.  Before the day was over, it was all the way down.  I had it inside all winter so am disgusted with it, they aren't cheap, only got it last summer.   >:(

Larry, sorry you are losing your interesting neighbors.  One thing about those Bentleys, when we lived in England it was as special to own one 20 years old as a new one.  With the way Kansas taxes cars, it would pay to have one very old and never own a new car.

Amy, I never heard about honey for healing, when our dog had places to worry about I put castor oil on... did it for the kids, as well.  It heals & nobody wanted to lick it off!  Castor oil healed better than the cortisone cream the doctor prescribed for my son's legs when they broke out (allergy).  When we lived in England I was told to use the zink & castor oil sold by Boots (the chemist).  It healed everything!  I brought some back with me & when my daughter was there, had her bring some back.  She was surprised when she went to the Boots shop & they knew exactly what she wanted.  I didn't put the mixture on the dog, didn't know if zink was okay in case she licked.... knew the castor oil would do her any harm.   ;)

Lloyd, sounds like you are making a wise choice, you can be there to give advice to help them start out.  Knowing you, you will be lending a hand when they need it, too.

Gloria, the sun is shining this morning but still cool enough to feel good.  I may still get away for a drive to Missouri to see the wild dogwood blooming.  Can't remember when I got to see it last, but will call Doris today to see how it is doing down her way.

Jenny, one of the sprinkler guys is a Colorado camper, too.... he said they like Taylor Park best.  That was the first place we camped but too high for me.  Monarch Pass still has a lot of snow, looks like the highway is clear this morning, though.  That road grader must run around the clock on that pass!  I am SO ready to go out.  If you & Bob get a chance to come visit, we will have the 2 sites where the road makes the first curve to go around the loop, on the creek side.... but will talk to you before then.

Lunch time, I was up at 5:00 am to feed cats & be ready for the sprinkler guys by 8:00... they didn't come till 9:00-ish... but that was okay, job done (I hope).

Just got back from the major part of my running around and I bought a bit more than I planned.  It's all put away now and the doggies had a snack and are dozing outside my office door.  I'm trying to hold them off for their noon snack until later because they won't have supper until I get home after 7.

I sent Natalie an email with all your comments about her Menninger Fellowship.  I'm going to post her answer below...

Good Afternoon,

Shirley, you got the storms we were supposed to have.  There was snow covering the ground in Boise City Oklahoma (far northwestern corner) - and tornado warnings in Idabel (southeastern corner - 476 miles away from Boise City)  We had clouds and sprinkles here in the middle.

JaneS,  thought of you this morning as I was wandering around Wal-Mart.  I did have a list but kept thinking of other things I could look for.   ;)  Lots of smiling help finding where things were.

Yesterday,  #2 dil (she's 46) had a hip replacement.  She has had several surgeries for spine degeneration  and one hip began to trouble her a couple of years ago.  Back doctor and hip doctor consulted and strongly recommended the hip replacement.
Surgery went well and she had gone for a walk when I checked with her via text a few minutes ago.  She did say she was taking as much pain medicine as often as they would give it to her.
She is to go home on Friday.
Son told me it would be more helpful for me to bring food after that than to sit at the hospital.  Works for me!!!!!!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Back from our visit had a great time ,we also did a bit  of shopping or rather I did :)

Shirley, I will pick some castor oil up to have on hand, thank you for suggesting it. Years ago one of ours dogs had a skin irritation and nothing seemed to work on him ,neighbour told me to tell my parents to get sulfur and mix it with lard and spread on the dog....it worked!!!

Callie, she is so young to have a hip replacement, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Lloyd, good choice, now is the time for you and Nancy to relax some but you still can work in your shop. The young ones will have you close by if needed.

Jane,I just did yard detail and the rhubarb is really poking its nose up. No, not near Paris Ont Jane but wouldn't mind visiting the Mary Maxim store  there. :)

June, enjoy Bible study.

Larry,I for on, think your amazing for all that you do for Pat.

Gloria, tis a nice sunny day here.....maybe tomorrow I can raked up all the pine cones off the front yard.

Where is Hall?

Wish we would get another update on Joan..

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Amy, I 'finally' got myself in gear and got that haircut I intended to get last week.  I also filled up my car, it's monthly fill-up.

I also got my new printer delivered while I was out and opened it up and read 'over' some of the instructions and I swear either I am getting plumb stupid or the tech writers they employ now days just don't know how to write.  Of course they are drawing and writing for about four languages.

Lloyd, I know selling your place must have been a hard decision.  But it is going to stay in the family and you will be on the place until it is your turn to meet the Lord.  And if you go first Nancy will have someone to look after her.  I was wondering, are you going to keep your cattle and continue to run them on the place?

Our weather here is just windy and cool.  Lots of sunshine and not too cool.  Yesterday was getting up into summertime temps.

Well I am going to get a cup of coffee and look at the instructions one more time.

I'm home from work, had a bite to eat, fed the doggies and they are out chasing our resident squirrel right now.  Well, they're barking at the squirrel.  I told them their efforts are useless until they learn to either climb trees or fly.  Doesn't seem to bother them.  They still try.

I ordered a pair of computer glasses and I'm trying them out right now.  They seem to be doing the trick.  We shall see!

I think I'll go and watch a little TV through my eyelids.  I'm really tired tonight but I met some really nice people!  Enjoy your evening!

I am in late. I don't know where the time goes...just seems to evaporate every day. Two hours of sleep in the afternoon and reading steals from my time I guess.

Lloyd: You are so wise to see a lawyer about a Trust. My husband and I had one, and it made  life so much easier. You will still enjoy your farm Lloyd, but not have the responsibility of being forced to care for the whole thing. You are doing the right thing I'm sure.

Janie, how do computer glasses differ from reading glasses. I think they may benefit my tired eyes. My friend, you have earned the right to feel tired. You do so much good. Thanks for relaying Natalies reply.

Hal, I find if certain instructions are difficult for me to understand, I google the product and find easier instructions or information that way. I am not using my printer as I used to, as I do not feel "things" are necessary to save any more. My sons have taken over the responsibilities, thanks be to God.

Amy, the young man that takes turns on Wed. Bible study with my son Gary, is just as animated and interesting a speaker, so I really look forward to Wednesdays. What I gained from todays lesson is we cannot "earn" God's Love and forgiveness. It is given to us freely, if we truly need it and want it. Then the natural result would be our "wanting" to do more good in return for that gift given to us. Does that make sense ?

Callie, it is rather a shocking surprise to think of someone at that young age needing a hip replacement. I pray she heals quickly, and I agree with your son…meals being made for them will be the best gift of all.

Time for me to quit gabbing and to eat some supper. Bed time will be here before I realize it. Bye……..

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's another rainy day in Central PA.  Supposed to keep it up all day.  Oh well, I don't have to go anywhere until 5 oclock when I pick up Kiran and we hit the library.

JUNE, computer readers have coatings that block out the glare of computer reading and my came yesterday.  I used them last night and they seem to be doing the trick.  You choose your magnification (I took 3 on the advice of my eye doctor and then I chose both coatings.  If you're interested, look them up on readers.com. That's when I got mine.  They have them in all kinds but I chose the 3 magnification and both coatings.  Today will be the test because i have to finish paying my bills.

Lloyd, what an ideal situation for you and your grandchildren.  You have your place to stay that's been yours and they have an expert at hand to answer questions and (I;m sure) to lend a hand when necessary.

I hope you all have a pleasant day today doing exactly what you feel like doing.

Hi everyone.  After a rainy and dreary day yesterday the sky is clear and it is cooler here this morning.  It is going to be a nice day at the gold course for the start of the actual Master's Tournament and the rest of the week is suppose to be the same.

We are down to one moving truck this morning and it is across the street.  I expect they will finish up soon.  The huge moving van was parked in front of the house next door lst night but was gone when I came to my office this morning.  So it is undoubtedly on its way to Texas.

This will be a busy day as planned now but I will just take it hour by hour.  I will go to coffee, making a brief stop at Walmart as I pick up my friend.  Then, as usual, will bring him home and go back to the Wisdom Class if I still have enough energy.  If we continue to have problems with our wi-fi I will likely take the Gateway modem back to exchange it this afternoon.

I will have to be brief in comments today as don't have much time before I leave and still need to put together a sandwich.  Pat has given me a break this morning as she is fixing her own breakfast.

Shirley, glad you finally got your sprinkler system fixed so that can be marked off your todo list for this year.  Hope the molding for the RV works out as well.  The Bentley's are certain classy cars no matter how old they are just like the Roll Royce's.  My now former neighbor's wife said she hated to have to drive one of them as she feared she might get a scratch on it.  She had here own car.

Lloyd, you must really be special to get brownies that are made from scratch. Maybe that was your reward for deciding to sell your farm and begin a life with less stress on you.

Callie, hope your DIL gets along well with the hip replacement.  I know my wife is glad she had the knee and hip replacements done and realizes she should have done them much sooner.

Hal, they might as well not bother with some of the instructions put in with some of the devices we buy like the printer.  I have never tried to print from y iPad although know a person can do it.

June, my folks setup a Trust in Missouri and it was wonderful.  I have checked with a lawyer here in South Carolina and was advised that a Trust in this State doesn't really help with settling the estate.  We have wills so hopefully we have all the documents prepared that will be needed in the future.

JaneS, glad the computer glasses are helping you read the computer screen. I am now using a high contrast extension on chrome and it makes reading the screen much easier as the print seemed to be so light.  It may be the cataracts are causing the problem.

Good morning everyone, another rainy day here. I rescheduled my appointment with the pain doctor.  No way will I go out and get drenched and then chilled in this weather. I cannot handle an umbrella and the rollator at the same time.

LARRY  my SIL has a Beetle that is almost as old as him. I think it is a 1950 or 60. Still runs good but now they just use it around their home.

JUNE  I just could not resist teasing HAL.  I cannot remember the word I misspelled and he sure teased me about it.

SHIRLEY  your “books” are always interesting. You amaze me with all the things you do. I sit here and think of how little I can do and feel like I am lazy. I have heard for years that honey was good for healing. I never tried it. Hope you get to see the dogwood in bloom this year. I know they are beautiful.

LLOYD I used to make brownies with the cream cheese swirl in them. Very tasty.

JANE  thanks for Natalie's message.Glad our prayers helped her. Now for them to get JOAN back to us.

CALLIE  I hope and pray that surgery helps your
#2 DIL.

AMY  when your rhubarb is ready make a pie and I will be there for a slice of it. We did not have much sun yesterday, about 2 seconds worth. Today it is raining again.

HAL  I would hate to get anything new anymore. This HP PC I bought a year ago gave me enough headaches to last the rest of my life.

JANE  my daughter's Chihuahua loves barking at the stray cattle where they now live. Can you picture that? I have used computer glasses for years and I have been happy I have them.

LLOYD  glad you are keeping the farm in the family and you will be able to start enjoying life without all the work you have done all your life.

AMY  like you I hope the vet can get that last stitch out. I know you love your Golden girl and it bothers you more than her.

JANE  we had 2 inches of rain Tuesday and expecting that much again today. Weather guesser this morning said if it was snow that would be 4 feet.  Just the thought of that much snow at anytime makes me glad it is rain. One river has overflowed it's banks and another close top it. Those who live in those areas will be hollering again for the government to buy them out. The built there knowing it was in a flood plain. I got my computer glasses from my eye doctor. The bifocal line is not there and they are figured on how far the monitor is from where you sit. So much better than using my regular bifocals and tipping my head all the time. I have forgotten I had them on at times and would drive to the store with them on. Only thing is I cannot read print with them. Like I said I have been using them for years. Do you remember the movie Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart and June Alyson? That is on Me TV now and I am watching it. Saw it in the movies a lifetime ago.

LARRY  6 years ago I was told by an orthopedic doctor I was too old for surgery. I felt like telling him what he could do with his ideas of the elderly but I didn't. My daughter can print from her ipad and from her iphone.

Good Morning,

Haven't had a report on #2 dil this morning but did see a picture of her on Facebook last night and learned that she had gone for two walks and was taking as much pain med as she was allowed as often as she was allowed to have it.  However, she seemed to be in a cheerful mood and I have no doubt that she will follow the p. t. instructions well.

I happened to walk by the pillows at Walmart yesterday - and ended up buying one that said it was for "back and side sleepers".   So glad I did because I had the best night's sleep I've had in a very long time!!!!!

The a/c is due for its checkup "some time between 10 and 1" today.

#1 son is going to bring lunch - probably from Arby's.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Janie, thank you for the info, and I will look into readers. com. I will gladly take over your rainy day if you don't want it. However, it will force you to stay home and rest, and that is good news.

Larry, I don't understand why your state doesn't honor completely a revocable living trust. It is a legal document, that I thought was available to everyone. If you are curious, check the computer for a living Will compared to a living Trust and see what you find, if you are really interested.

Callie, it is amazing how medical treatment has changed down through the years. It thrills me to think of your DIL up and walking already. What is the name of the brand of pillow you bought ? We see so many ads for "My Pillow". I wonder if any of our friends here have one ?????

I am having a nice leisurely free morning but I will be going from one program to the next..choir practice at 1:30, balance and mobility at 2:45, and at 6:30 p.m. a prayer meeting, which I keep missing as I am too tired in the evening.

We do what we can.

Gloria, I got a laugh from some of your ads.  I have a tendency to write long, drawn out sentences and I try to check before posting to see that they read right.

It is raining here now and we were expecting snow.  We did have a dusting overnight, but the temperature is near 40 degrees so things are wet.  Tom was out earlier this morning and said what fell was a combination snow and rain.

June,  morning report from son:  "Today she can put on regular clothes and take a shower."   I teasingly replied,  "I hope that's in reverse order."   ;)

The pillow I got is a Serta.

I hear the garage door going up.  Lunch must be arriving.

Thanks Callie, Serta is a well known name in bedding. I will check it out. It's scary to think of such a deep surgery healing so quickly. I'm sure your DIL must feel a bit cautious in trying out things...I know I would be.

Gloria, I am still giggling over the Ads. you posted. Words can be so deceiving .

Back from the vet, stitch is still in with hopes it will dissolve..have some cow salve to put on her incision. Lloyd tis the same salve one would use for mastitis.

Why are the posts reading April 02? I changed this one to see what it does when I post it.

We went through rain, snow and more rain and they say rain again with high winds for tomorrow..

Gloria, I loved  the ads.

Callie, amazing what they do now in surgery and up the next day walking!! I think they are worried too that the patient might get pneumonia and  want the patient up and going.

Jane, I too have having a leisurely day in fact I just had a cat nap.

Better go see what I can rustle up for supper in a bit...

The April 2 date in bold at the top of the post is when the new Soda Shoppe for the week was started.  The current date of each individual post is on the line below that and is noted as "Today".  After midnight eastern time that line for the postings made today will change to "Reply #... on: April 6, 2017, and the time it is posted".

It's always been this way - seems you all just haven't noticed.   ;D

We are dog-sitting a Beagle mix - such a snoopy dog!  She is alert to time - even was able to figure out daylight saving time in Co - she just came in from AZ with son & wife.  I am feeling worthless and so much to do - a doctor's appointment tomorrow but not my regular one.

We both are laughing about having to relearn how to use the dishwasher and microwave - they are so different.  Just bone-tired from the drive of 900 miles - and, to think we used to do 1700 miles/

Good to see you made it home safely, CAROL.  Agree with you, that these long drives sure do make us totally exhausted now.  We, too, used to drive much longer distances.

We had a beautiful day here and did manage to get to the Denver Zoo and got to see our new baby giraffe in person......up close for me.  Dobby is precious.  He is 5 weeks old now and has nearly doubled his weight and has grown 7 inches.  I got some wonderful pictures.

CALLIE, my best wishes for your DIL#2, as she heals completely from this hip replacement surgery.  It has been 6 years since I had my hip replacement and I understand they are doing them different now and it is much easier for the patient.  I hope so for her.

GLORIA, I enjoyed your classified ads!  Cute.  Thank you for sharing them with us.

SHIRLEY, good you got the sprinkler system taken care of...that is necessary when you have as much land as you have.  I sure hope we can get together when you come to Colorado.  Keep me posted please.

Keep getting interrupted, so best I say good night and pleasant dreams to all.

Missing you, JOAN.  Continued thoughts and prayers for you and with any luck we will have an update on you soon.

Lloyd, that sounds like whoever gave you that cup really knows you!  I'd be proud if someone gave me a cup like that!  You are one in a million!

I'm having my coffee while I wait for the dog food to reconstitute.  Then I'll finish mixing it and feed the puppies.  I should have made it last night but I just didn't feel like it.  So I'm doing it now.

I hope Everyfriend has a wonderful day full of whatever pleases you most.  You all deserve it!

Good morning everyone, no rain this morning. Glad I rescheduled yesterday's appointment, about the time I would be waiting for my ride it was pouring hard.

CALLIE  glad your DIL was up and walking already. Glad you like your new pillow. I think I need new ones. I like the foam pillows I got from Sears solid foam, not the pieces that get lumpy but mine are getting pretty old now. I have thought about sending for those My Pillows that you see on TV all the time. I would like to know someone who has them first. I dislike a pillow that can get lumpy.

JUNE  like you I wonder about the My Pillow. I dislike buying something like that without seeing it first. Like you, by 7:30 I am about ready to get ready for bed and be comfortable.

MARY ANN  glad you got some laughs from those newspaper adds. I know I did when I first read them. A little punctuations in the right places might have helped some of them. Just heard the weather on local TV and we might have some showers today. They were right about Tuesday and yesterday with all the rain we got.

JUNE  glad you had some giggles yesterday from those ads.

AMY  sorry the vet could not get that stitch out. When I had my shoulder done and the surgeon took the stitches out a couple of days later something kept catching on my tops when I dressed. I looked and saw something black sticking out from my skin. He didn't get one stitch so called and he had me  go see him and he took the last one out.

CAROL  after that long drive I would need a week to rest up, never mind having company or dog sitting. With all the rain we had in 2 days we are no longer in a drought here.

JENNY  glad you enjoyed those ads. Of course no one can replace JOAN and her morning goodies but when I come across something that makes me chuckle I can help a little. I used to work in my FIL's  print shop and did some proof reading for him and when I see things like those ads I think they need a good proof reader. Then think I should do just that with my posts at times. I agree with you, been too long since we had an update on JOAN. I miss her a lot, too.

LLOYD  hope you got more sleep. Last week I had a sleepless night and that is not fun. I like what you had on your cup this morning.  I do think you have beauty in your heart. Like you when someone lies to me I want nothing more to do with them.

JANE  like you the rain finally stopped here and the sun is breaking through the clouds at last. I am having me second mug of coffee and then I will get my breakfast oatmeal ready. Have a great day.

NIT's CHIEF PICKER
(by Larry Harp, Bedford, Texas)

I cannot count the number of hours I work each week. I work for a company called NIT. I have been with them for years and have now been promoted to the position of Chief Picker.

There are thousands of employees worldwide, but it seems we always have room for one more. Despite the cruel remarks of others, calling us "nit-pickers" and all, we provide a much needed service.

Who else can you depend on to tell you what you're doing wrong with things in your life? To be very honest, everybody needs us to stand-by and correct almost every move they make.

In our reports, we use a lot of words like, "always", "never", and my favorite, "completely messed up."

You just know there are so many people who can't seem to get anything right, so we have to be there to watch over them "all" the time. You don't have to go far to find people who need this kind of help.

In fact, we have a lot of "pickers" work out of their own homes. They make themselves available to their spouses, children and other family members.

How many times we have aborted mistakes in the personal lives of others? There's no telling how much good we do.

But after work -- and many times I have taken my work home with me -- I go to the company gym for a work-out. You just have to keep in shape these days. We don't have any of that "high-priced" stuff, like weight rooms, sauna's, exercise bikes or treadmills.

We have found over time that the best results come from only one exercise, "jumping to conclusions."

Mind you, I have never seen any loss of weight for myself, or anybody else for that matter, but regardless we work-out every day.

We certainly don't hold to that old adage about "assuming" things. There is no such thing as a "benefit of a doubt."

No, we're sure when we are "jumping to conclusions" that we are always correct.

Some folks try to confuse us with what they call, "known facts." Well, if it was known, why didn't we know?

Anyway, you'll have to excuse me, I must go home and rest. Hey, that guy over there has on two different socks and I think I know why he's talking to that secretary.

Generally, I say, "I shouldn't tell you this, but..."

But I always do. I think I have nit-picking on the brain. I must rest now. I have several judgments to make tomorrow, so bye for now.

Just try to stay out of trouble -- you know one of us is always watching.

Hi everyone for a bright and sunny but soon to be pretty windy day here in North Augusta.  It was 51º out when I got up this morning but should get into the 70's this afternoon.

My big activity for today is to make the trip to Madison, Georgia to have lunch with a group of my friends with whom I use to have lunch with about every week before moving.  I am looking forward to seeing them as it has been awhile.  The housekeeper will be here while I am gone and probably the lawn people.

Yesterday afternoon our granddaughter came over and she and Pat fixed a big recipe of cookies and then she helped fix tacos for our dinner, which were very tasty.  I also met our new neighbor who started moving in the house across the street that was vacated yesterday morning.  He is a young bachelor and very pleasant to speak with.  He said he had very little to move as he has been living in an apartment so the move won't amount to much.

Gloria, your SIL's Beetle is a real classic and I expect it is worth quite a bit to a collector. You can also have my piece of Amy's rhubarb pie as I have never cared for rhubarb although I bet Amy's pie is very tasty if you like rhubarb.  I liked your classifieds and sent them to members of my family for "Humor for Today".
The other humor you shared was also good.

Callie, I am sure your #2 DIL will be taking a lot of pain medicine for quite a few days if my wife's experience is any indicator.  The p.t. was very helpful to Pat.

June, I don't think it is a matter that South Carolina doesn't honor a revocable living trust but rather that there really is no particular benefit, especially in our case with only one child left.  At least that is what our lawyer advised.

Amy, I think they also like patients to get up and walk as soon as possible to avoid blood clots forming.  Glad you could experience a leisurely day.

Carol, I hope you rest from your trip as most things will probably wait until you are up to tackling them.

Jenny, that baby giraffe must be so cute.  Glad you were able to get into the zoo.

Lloyd, my wife often has a problem with her CPAP machine leaking air from around her nose.  She keeps a bottle water by her bedside and takes a drink of it two or three times a night as she also gets a very dry mouth.  Fortunately I sleep with my mouth closed so don't experience that problem with my CPAP.  I also wear a pair of Bose wireless headphones all night long that cut out a lot of the noises and they are very comfortable, even sleeping on my side.  Nice saying on your cup and I bet it does describe you.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I finally got the checkbook balanced, to the penny.  Took me long enough, right?

We have the housekeeper here and also someone tiling the master bathroom floor, where we had the walk-in shower installed.  I haven't looked in on him so don't know how he is progressing.  Wife is handling that..... ;)

Larry, I watched some of the Masters yesterday and the wind was giving them fits.  Speith didn't finish well and I don't Phil did to good, I could never get the final score on him, but he wasn't on the leader board.

I hope everyone is doing well this morning.  Lloyd sorry you had such a lousy night, seems like that is about all I ever have, up ever couple of hours taking care of business.  I will see the oncologist in a few days, maybe he can give me something out of bag of magic to fix the problem.

Any old how, life goes on.  Everyone have a great day

Good Morning all, house-keeper day. She has already change the linens, and will come back later to do the deep cleaning..that means vacuuming and dusting, etc.

This mornings reading impressed me greatly, so I would like to share it with you all.

"I am the Potter; you are My clay. I designed you before the foundation of the world. I arrange the events of each day to form you into this preconceived pattern. My everlasting love is at work in every event of your life. On some days your will and Mine flow smoothly together.  You tend to feel in control of your life when our wills are in harmony. On other days you feel like you are swimming upstream, against the current of My purposes. When that happens, stop and seek My face. The opposition you feel may be from Me, or it may be from the evil one.
Talk with Me about what you are experiencing. Let My Spirit guide you through treacherous waters. As you move through the turbulent stream with Me, let circumstances mold you into the one I desire you to be. Say yes to your Potter as you go through this day."

Good Afternoon,

Dil and Son got home from the hospital about an hour ago.  Sounded as if everything is o.k.  She was sleeping.

I'll take food tomorrow and we'll figure out when I'll be needed to "sit" next week while Son has appointments (he has his own Landscape Design business).

I have ingredients for a chicken/stovetop stuffing casserole, a ham/noodle casserole, fruit salad made with pie filling and a Jello-Cool Whip dish that's dil's favorite (not because of me - her grandmother used to make it ).  Have already made up a package of slider buns into what will be hot sandwiches (son said,  "Ooh!" when I told him about these  ;) ).

Looks as if I have my afternoon's activities cut out for me.  (Won't call it "w**k because Joan would probably notice  ;D).
Has anyone seen or heard anything about her recently?

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Hal ...  Congratulations on balancing your check book.

I don't even own a check book,  (but I do have a checking account)  ....  I never liked the process of "balancing one"  and was tickled when I could go online and check out my account,  daily.     This has made paying my bills and checking my checking account so very much easier then it use to be.

Have a good day,  EVERYONE!

Janie, thank you for the info on the "Readers". So far the "glare" is not noticeable on my iMac. I use a dark gray background, and other things, like the page I am typing on, and page of your message are of a very pale grey rather than white. I just ordered and received from Amazon two more pair of plain reading glasses, now I have glasses in every room and two purses and on several different desks and tables, so I no longer have to hunt them down.

Larry, with just your son to leave things with, I'm sure your Will is more than adequate. My husband made our Trust very simple. Everything goes equally to the two boys, then to their wives if sons are deceased. Nothing to the Grands and Great Grands… we feel that's up to the parents. After Ed died Gary went with me to my lawyer and had it all revised as needed. Each boy has a copy as well as I have. I am very content.

Callie, Your menu sounds scrumptious. Everyone should be very pleased.

While I was down the hall to a little lobby of sorts I sent a message here on my lap top, but I do not see it, so I did something wrong. Wish I knew what.

Hal, it will be interesting to see if the Oncologist will have some advice to avoid all those trips to the bathroom. You certainly need to have a good nights sleep, every night.

I am sure not a "lasting" human being now. Seems like once lunch is eaten, I am all worn out. Had another two hour nap this afternoon, and still tired. I should not complain…for shame on me…at least I have pretty good mornings.

Sandy, I no longer balance my check book. I do like our Bis/Joan, and let the bank take care of it and just put down the new balance after it arrives.

Good morning everyone, well yesterday turned out to be sunny in the early morning and then clouds moved in and last night we had more rain. It is down into the 30's again this morning but the sun is shining..

LARRY  I have a friend who sends me some funny emails so thought I would share them. No one can replace JOAN for the great things she finds every day but we can all post some humor or a good story to try and keep her goodies going. I sure do miss her after about 15 years of not seeing her every day except for the time she was fighting for her life at the time S&F opened.

HAL  hooray, now if you pay attention with every transaction and get it into your checkbook you should have no more problems keeping it balanced.

JUNE  thanks for posting your  reading from yesterday.  I just copied it to read often.

CALLIE  doing something with love for family is not work, it is love shining through. I wish we would get news about how JOAN is doing. Nothing since she was being transferred to a different hospital.

AMY  guess I should not complain about all the rain we had this past week, it was not snow like you had. Been years since I have been without power. It has gone out for a couple off minutes here but that is about it. Thanks, glad you liked what I posted.

LLOYD  it is about time you started enjoying life doing nothing but something you enjoy, like the wood work you do.

JANE  like you it would be great to have some spring weather here. Seems like every time it is warm enough to open windows at last it starts raining.

I got this from Babamail

Grandma's Take on Modern Life

Some time ago, a loving grandson was talking to his dear, old grandmother about modern life. He asked for her opinion on everything that had been going on in recent years. His grandmother gave him a long look and said: "Well now, sonny. Let me see...

I was born before:
Television
Frozen foods
Xerox
Contact lenses
Frisbees
The pill
There were no:
Credit cards
Laser beams
Ball-point pens

Clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air.
Man hadn't walked on the moon.

Your grandfather and I didn't live together 'til we got married. There were very few single mothers.

I called every man older than me 'sir' until I was 25. After I turned 25, I still kept calling every man with a title 'sir'.

We were before gay rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.
Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.

We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.
Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege.

We thought fast food was what people ate during
Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.

Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.
Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends, not purchasing condominiums.
We'd never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.

We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President's speeches on our radios.
If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan' on it, it was junk.
The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.

Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of. We had 5 & 10-cent (5 and dime) stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.  Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.
And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail one letter and two postcards.

You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.

'Grass' was mowed.
'Coke' was a cold drink.
'Pot' was something your mother cooked in.
'Rock music' was your grandmother's lullaby.
'Aids' were helpers in the Principal's office.
'Chip' meant a piece of wood.
'Hardware' was found in a hardware store.
'Software' wasn't even a word.

We volunteered to protect our precious country... No wonder people call us 'old and confused' and say there is a generation gap."

This woman is 76 years old.

She was born in 1941.

Gives you something to think about, doesn't it? It just goes to show you how much life can change in one lifetime.

HI everyone.  It looks like it will be a beautiful day with little wind after two very windy days.  I am sure the golfers are delighted.  It is chilly this morning but suppose to get up to 70 this afternoon.

I had a wonderful time visiting with 5 of my friends who met me for lunch in Madison.  I had no trouble with the drive but was really glad to get back home so I could rest.  Rest is also my goal for today although there are a few chores I need to do but can take them slowly. I need to grate another pound of cheddar cheese, fry up a pound of sausage and also mix up and bake Pat's breakfast sausage muffins.  I have no intention of going anywhere today.

Hal, always a good feeling when it is balanced. At least that gave you something to occupy your time.  Hope you like your newly tiled bathroom floor.  Speith is only 4 shots back so he is still in contention.  I plan to watch it this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon.  They have much better playing conditions now and the birdies should increase with less wind to content with.

Callie, I bet whatever you fix for your son and DIL will be greatly appreciated.  I know we certainly appreciated the meals brought to us when Pat had surgery.

Sandy, I sometimes wonder why I keep a checkbook program on my computer and reconcile each month.  Usually the problem is that I have missed entering something in the program.  However, old habits are hard to break.

Amy, glad you are not one of the places without power.

Lloyd, it sounds like your weather is about like ours today.

JaneS, I hope you can have a quiet and restful day today.  You deserve it as you are a hard worker.

Gloria, I agree about not replacing Joan but sharing a few things that have humor or deeper meaning frome time to time.  I also wish we could get an update on Joan but expect it will be a slow recovery process for her.  I just hope she will be able to go back to her home.  There have been a lot of new things in our lifetime and the piece you shared highlights some of them that we now take for granted.

Gloria, I enjoyed the piece about Grandma, especially the fact that she was born in 1941 and is 76 years old.  I graduated from high school in 1941 and in June that will be 76 years ago!

The sun is shining at Grand Haven (here too) and it looks beautiful.

Good Morning Everyone!

About the Oncologist, they are still trying to figure out if I have cancer or not.  They wont do a biopsy and are trying to figure it out using ultrasound studies.  Either way I am not too worried, so far I have had 84 years on this earth and life has been awful good to me so let come what may.  Hopefully I have something better coming.

Yep Larry, read an article in the sports page this morning about the Masters and how they are jammed up on the leader board.  Mickelson will be making a move today, I feel certain and also Speith.  Even Garcia is up there in the running.  There ought to be some good golf the next two days.

Man is about thru with the floor and wife is happy as a lark with the way it came out.
Soooooo, if she is happy i am ecstatic.  ;)

Everyone have a great day.  I intend to.

Good Morning dear hearts, big day at Rowntree Gardens…the EGGSTRAVAGANZA. This is a yearly egg hunt put on for the employees children and grandchildren..some older folks may decide to enter into all the fun, but there are dozens of chairs placed around our big garden area for us to sit on. I can see it all from my apartment. I don't know if neighborhood children are allowed in or how that is handled. But the little ones will have a great time, I know. There is face painting, printing, about a dozen various things that can be for the older children. Snacks are free for all.

Unfortunately, we had some drizzles during the night, but the gardens were out to sweep and blow the chairs and walkways free of puddles. Still cloudy but no rain, Thank You God. The work that goes into all this and the expense, we need sunshine today.

Program has started....I'll be back later.

Gloria, here's another  for Grandma's remembering... We can all relate, huh?  Thanks.

Larry, every time I read about you shredding the cheese I wonder why you do it & don't buy the already shredded.  I used to shred as well & found I can enjoy the Kraft or Kroger brand just fine, especially since Kroger came out with the Mexican shred.  That really hits the spot on those eggs cooked in the little microwave thingies.  Add a tad of salsa & I have to have salt (bad me).... yummy.  I do get one brand of bar cheese at Sam's Club that is very good, not good enough to go back to the job of shredding again.  You are so good to Pat to fix her breakfast, I'm sure she appreciates it, too.

Hal, I'm planning to research ultrasound & Doppler before I ever have another heart cath.... I know a cath is a must if a stent in needed but sure not willing to gamble with a cath if ultra sound or doppler will tell.   Hope "they" don't find cancer but so many new cures that really work, it isn't the death sentence it was a few years ago.  Extra prayers for you when I'm on my knees in the morning.

We have some beautiful weather promised for this week, can't decide if I will just mosey on down to see dogwood or not.  Nice to think about.  Hope every Friend has a Wonderful Easter Week.

I don't want to hear about wind in Missouri, Lloyd!  I just got through telling someone "we don't have wind in MO like we have in Kansas!"  Shirley

Good Morning/Afternoon - depending on your Time Zone....

Food basket is packed and ready to be delivered "about" 1:00 p.m., as requested.  I "taste tested" the two casseroles for dinner last night and am not too sure about the ham/noodles one.  Think I'll suggest they mix a can of cream of "something" soup with it before reheating.

Amy,  I'll be glad to share the pie filling salad recipe. I'm sure it isn't as inexpensive now as when my Mother used it but it's so easy.  (She was an expert at "easy"!)

1 can Apricot or Peach Pie Filling
1 can pineapple tidbits, drained
1 can Mandarin oranges, drained
1 cup diced white grapes
2 or 3 bananas, sliced
1 small bottle maraschino cherries, drained
1 cup miniature marshmallows
Mix together, chill and serve.   No salad dressing needed.

The Jello/Cool Whip salad is also one of her "easies".
1 12 oz carton cottage cheese, drained
1 can crushed pineapple, drained.
1 3 oz. package Jello  powder   (your choice of flavor - Mother used lime; I used strawberry)
1 8 oz. carton Whipped Topping
Mix cottage cheese, fruit and dry Jello together.  Fold in Topping.  Place in a flat container (not a bowl) and chill.

Hal,  I like your attitude!  I'm glad that doctors seem to be more conservative about putting us over-80 folks through a bunch of invasive tests and treatments.

June,  Your balcony sounds like the "best seat in the house" for watching the Eggstravaganza .

I should probably water the pot garden - but the wind is so strong that I suspect I'd be watering the neighbors' yards....as well as giving myself a shower!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

I thought I posted a message some hours ago, but I don't see it. Perhaps I deleted it..I wouldn't be surprised.

Our Eggstravaganza was a great success. I did go down for two hours and enjoyed every minute of it. The little children were so much fun to watch picking up the plastic eggs. The luncheon they served was scrumptious. We had a young man making balloon animals, flowers, etc. and he made me a dog..even put a leash on it. Very artistic.

Of course I needed a nap this afternoon, and I feel I am "in" for the rest of the day. Maybe another walk this evening...maybe not. It is very quiet in here today, I hope and pray everyone is feeling fine.

CALLIE, your jello, cool whip thing is in my file.  I got it from my daughter's MIL about a hundred years ago.  Her name was "Helen" and since the recipe is written on an envelope that was in my purse and has no title.  I just call it "Helen's Green Stuff".  And since she's gone, every time I make it, I have to make enough for Craig to have some.  He loves that I call it "Helen's Green Stuff"

I made it for the Christmas gathering at my daughter's this year and Craig's sister was there and when she took a bite she exclaimed, "This is exactly what Mom used to make."  My SIL answered, "Yep!  It's Helen's Green Stuff".  Cathy's mom makes it."

I did accomplish two major moves today.  I cleaned the fridge and rearranged the living room.  I finally figured out why I'd originally had it arranged the way I did and I changed it back to the original.  The girls changed it to accommodate the recliner but I never really liked it that way.  Now, I figured it's been that way long enough that no one will be insulted that I changed it.  I like it a lot better!  We'll see what Cathy says when she stops by tomorrow.

I hope you all have a good rest of the day.  I'm going to go get some kind of drink and sit on the sofa and enjoy the "new" look.

Jane,  the dil who had the hip replacement calls it "Pink Stuff" because her grandmother made it!  I guess it depends on what kind (color) Jello you use.  Mother called it "Dry Jello Salad. She sometimes used orange Jello and Mandarin Oranges instead of pineapple.
I've wondered if fresh strawberries would work with strawberry Jello.

Ummmmm, the jello salads sound delicious. I wish, in a way, I still cooked. Nah......I'll eat downstairs or defrost something. I have retired.

And so I intend to retire to bed with my book and then to sleep. Sleep well dear hearts,  I love you all. God give you Peace, Joy, Love, Hugs and Prayers. June

A day of rest here today,I still have some hand sewing to do so that may happen after the VON leaves.

Jane, I tried a new look in the bedroom, moved the bed to a new place and we just couldn't get used to it so back it went.

June ,sounds like a fun time for all at the Eggstravaganza, do you still have your balloon dog?

Hal, bet the new flooring looks great!

Gloria, Mr Crow decided that I had been in bed long enough and stood outside my window hollering for his breakfast..animals sure are smart!

Enjoy your day everyone..
