well I had a friend take me to V A yesterday, Pronounced with vertigo. gave me more med's.  just what i needed , have a hand full now. not dizzy now but sort if light headed. no driving anything for up to 4 weeks. Have a great day, I slept in very late this AM

Lloyd

larryhanna

Hi everyone. I woke up to rain and we expect it on and off for the next two weeks, according to the weather forecasts.  We had a lot of rain yesterday and it, like this morning, was a nice continual and gentle type rain rather than those downpours we sometimes get.  This is to be another day, like yesterday, when we didn't get much above 80 degrees.  While I was thinking about it I went out to the garage and turned off the sprinkler system so it won't water early tomorrow morning.

If it is not raining too hard this morning I plan on a quick trip to Costco to get Pat more frozen strawberries plus a couple of other items and to get the car gas tank filled up again.  This afternoon I plan on making a lettuce salad to go with the mac/cheese and ham crockpot dinner Pat is making for our dinner with Scott and Jennifer this evening.  We did go to Pizza Hut for our evening meal yesterday and got to spend just a few minutes with our son.

Jenny, we also have only one to three hummers at the feeder at a time.  I sure wouldn't want to have 50 or so atone time.  We are certainly not having the normal August weather down here either.

June, our son uses the Dr. Shoals special pad for his feet.  They are expensive but he is on his feet for many hours at a time and used to come home from work with aching feet.  He told us that was a thing of the past after he used the machine to determine what insoles to get and they really worked for him.  You sound like me in not wanting to waste anything.  Rather than buy note pads I use parts of pages that are blank to cut into note sheets.  Nice that you can get what you want to eat in your dining room rather than being limited by the main things they have fixed for a given meal.

JaneS, that is a good buy on the Lipton tea.  We used to drink a lot of iced tea but haven't for several years.  Occasionally Pat will get iced tea in lieu of a diet coke when we eat out.  I would just as soon have water.

Sandy, it sounds like taking precautions such as your mattress encasements is a very good idea since you have no control over what happens in other apartments in your building.

Hal, we have become so accustomed to good electrical service that outages are really annoying.  Does your house heat up quickly when the electricity is off?

Amy, hope you have a nice trip to town today and then are able to not overwork.  Those weeds in the garden sure sound like work.

Lloyd, glad to see your vertigo seems to be under control.  I hope you abide by the four weeks without driving as sure don't want you to have anymore accidents.  Maybe the medication will help you get some good sleep.

Amy

Jane, your right they do multiply.....just like dust bunnies  We had a bit of a rain so that stopped the weed pulling for now..maybe later tonight I can get back at it.

Will take hubby in and let him feed Dracula and I will go deliver a cancer quilt. Potatoes are on sale $3.00 for a 20 lb bag ,one of those will be coming home with me.

Lloyd, I have had that and it is NOT nice...please no heavy machinery usage either. Time will help you, hope they gave you some meds to counteract the dizziness too.

Coming up lunch time.....

Carol

We are home this morning and Don's  VA meds were just delivered.  They give him an email notice so that is just super.  This morning - the old dog we are playing with - the one who is actually "herding" us - did not move for a long time and I thought he was gone.  He is just fine and I was so glad to see him move.  Our son returns on Friday night and they are having a nice time even with the cold rain -not heard if they had snow in that area.

Amy:  How far do you drive to town?  For years on end, we drove 7 miles for schools, church and anything - even gas.  In Minnesota - through more than one blizzard and a lot of storms.  I wouldn't want to do that again even if we could live on the lake.

Lloyd - I am glad to read that you are on medication for your dizziness.  No power tools until this is solved for you.  Take care.

Jeanne Lee:  Thanks for information on the new photo site.

Sandy:  We bug-bombed the house overnight and I thought you might be able to do the same - set off bug bombs & leave all windows and doors shut for a few hours while you go somewhere safe.  Then, open your apartment and stay out of it until you feel it is safe aired.  Can you do that?-- it would be nice if your neighbors would do the same at the same time.  Bet your family has many stories from their overseas trip.

JaneS:  Your relatives have not had a good weather week - well, the rain is welcome but so sorry for visitors.

JaneS

CAROL, I don't think the weather during the week is a problem for them as long as it doesn't rain on the Wedding on Friday.  But I think they are even prepared for that eventuality.

Since I have to work 6 - 10 tonight, and they frown on people falling asleep on the job, I think I'll try for a short nap this afternoon.  I have a few things to do yet and then I think I'll see if any zzzzs have clung to the sofa today.

Keep doing the fun things you're all doing.

LLOYD!  stay off those farm machines and out of the truck.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, busy morning with phone calls. Hope I get no more of them today.

LLOYD  hope the dizzy med helps you. I am glad I do not have any dizzy times.

LARRY  I have not made pancakes in a long time. Occasionally I would come home from work and make them for supper. Any left I froze and when I wanted some I just put them in the toaster. I imagine Pat has to pay Michael our webmaster for all he does to keep the site running. I know I emailed June about S&F. She did not know about it yet. What would we do without June? Do not want to think of that.

JENNY  last time I visited my daughter the century plant in the yard next to them bloomed. I could not believe how high the flower stem was, just like a tree. All day the hummers were at it and many other birds, too. I had never seen so many different birds together. When the flowers were done the whole stem toppled like a tree falling. I am glad I was there to see it. A week ago here it felt like October.

SANDY  I have been here 3 years now and I have not heard anyone complain about critters. They have someone come and spray all around the outside of the building and the maintenance man keeps the public areas here very  clean. We are responsible for our own apartments and they better be clean when the manager comes to your door. Never know when she will do that.

HAL  there are exercise machines here on the main floor. I have only seen 2 tall men and 1 tall lady using them.  None of the shorties here can use them. Stupid like the counters being so high. Anyone in a wheelchair can sit in front of them and do anything at the counters.

LLOYD  not driving for 4 weeks means no working so you will be forced to take it easy. That is something you need.

The top  50 cities with bug problems:

This is not an issue with cleanliness
(Of course being clean
helps when trying to control infestations. )

I do not have bed bugs.....
but I am preparing my apartment
to deal with any issues that might occur.

Portland Maine is not listed in the top 50
cities here in  the USA that have issues....
but Portland has issues and our housing authority
deals with this issure, year round.

Being aware and doing what I can to prevent
having a bed bug crisis is all I can do and I
feel better now that I have taken control and will
continue to do so as long as I am able.

I was in earlier this morning and read your messages, then Gary arrived at my door with my new cell phone. Oh me.....more new things to learn. Thank goodness there is an easy to follow advice book, which I need.

Then we went down for Bible study.  Then it was lunch time, and after lunch I stayed outside and read. A lady that lives here came by my bench and expounded on what a wonderful preacher my Gary is. We chatted about him and other things for quite some time, then another friend stopped by the bench ...first friend left second friend stayed, the our dear Maintenance man came by and he is Mr. Personality, so the three of us chatted for a while. By then I was ready for a recliner, so came home, slept, decided to do a load of laundry which is now in the dryer and I am sooooooooo pooped. Time to go check out my laundry, then scrape up some supper.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I'm home from my shift at Wally World and I'm so tired I can't think.  When I got in the car I told myself I was so tired I could cry.  So I did!  Then I wiped my eyes, came home and took care of the doggies, got on my jammies and checked in here.  Now I'm going to bed and tomorrow's another day.

Good Night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Good morning
Going to be a beautiful day here. We are off to the city,my van is being undercoated today. Will go to Costco while there and pick up a few things too.

Jane, sometimes we just need a good cry to make the world go round..hope you are feeling tickety boo today. :)

June, sounds like you had a great day and may the only thing that is on your plate today is food. :)

Lloyd, I was told that if I slept during the day my body needed it....so I guess you are playing catch up on all that time you lost. I had to chuckle at you saying you will try to behave......that must be a big job for you. :))  Just kidding with you.

Sandy, wise move, better to be prepared for something like that .

Better get on the road.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend....

I'm not exactly sure what "tickety boo" is but I sure do feel a lot better after a good night's sleep and some loving from the doggies.  I drew a long, busy register near the food end of the store for both halves of my shift last night so it was people stocking up for the weekend.  Also, lots of back to school and a few Bucknell students returning for the school year so VERY BUSY.

We're in Annie's "pill wait" time right now.  When the buzzer goes off, we'll have breakfast and my only planned activities for today are to visit the "other" supermarket to get yogurt for the doggies and then a lot of loafing.  I'm looking forward to September.  I'm using up some of my accumulated vacation time for just being off.  I have about 3 weeks coming up with nothing to do except make veggie soup to can and the something special for when Cindy visits from Texas. toward the end of the month.  Makes things a bit easier when you have something to look forward to.

I wish Everyfriend a lovely day full of whatever strikes your fancy.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, happy you are feeling better this morning.  Busy is good, but too busy just plain old wears you out.

I am all cleaned up and shaved and ready for bible study this morning.  Our group leader is not going to be there, out of town, and we are meeting at a different church, they have a cafe, open everyday during the week.  I think.

After bible study have to go see Maggie, my dentist, think she is going to take an impression of the tooth that I want capped.  I hope I leave a good impression with her....... ::)   ;D  okay, dumb joke.

Lloyd hope you are feeling better.  And also hope you get caught up on your rest, you more than likely need it.

Amy, I didn't know that anyone had undercoating put on cars these days.  I thought most were pretty well rust proof.  Something we don't have to worry about around here.  On the coast, around all the salt water, it can present a problem.

Everyone take care.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. Another cloudy morning and headed up to 85 or a little higher this afternoon.  We did have more good rain yesterday morning.  There is a low percentage chance of more rain today.  I will go to coffee this morning and then, if not to tired, will go back downtown after getting my friend home and attend the Wisdom Group.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Amy, what a good price on potatoes.  Do you raise any of them in your garden?  That is something we always had in our garden as I was growing up.

Carol, getting the messages or emails about deliveries is really a great feature of our modern society.  It helps us not leave things at our front door after delivery.  We tried bug bombing Stacey's apartment in the old apartment building where she lived for 6 years trying to get rid of the coach roaches and it didn't work.  We finally got them eradicated using the bait traps and a couple of those electronic devices that put out a noise that hurts their ears.  Fortunately they were gone from her apartment before she moved to the new apartment.

Jane, it sounds like you were too busy to have the opportunity to fall asleep at your register. Hope you can get rested up today.

Gloria, I think when we want pancakes or waffles in the future we will just get some Eggo's frozen waffles.  They are tasty and much less work for Pat.  It sounds like you had a rare opportunity to see the Century Plant in bloom.

Sandy, I am sure prevention of a bug problem in the first place is worth a lot of cure.  Glad you haven't experienced any problem.

June, your new phone will give you new opportunities to use your mind.  Is this one of the flip type Jitterbugs?

Running short of time this morning and need to pick up a prescription at Walmart for Pat before picking up my friend to take to coffee.  He lives just a short distance from the Walmart so it is convenient and saves another trip.  .

Lloyd Hammond

well I must be getting caught up some sleep, I slept in until 7;30 a m .
still have a stuffy head but not dizzy headed. have a great day. my drivers license are due they are class A ( CDL. ) license. think I will go see if i can pas the test or just drive with out them I still have to move my bulldozer from farm to farm to help neighbors. too old and dumb to quit. will be 80 years young the 27th of this month.

Jane:  Your note made me feel so sad for you.  The schools are open this week - so everyone goes to buy supplies at the very same time.  Put your feet up whenever you can and truly rest well.  Hugs

This is our last day for Loki watching over us and only one more night there.  He wants a lot of attention now that he is older - other years he liked us but really didn't care.  Humans are much like that in some cases too.

Did anyone see the latest news on DB Cooper (the man who robbed airline passengers and parachuted out of the back of a plane in Washington)?  That would be so interesting to find the real culprit -

Time for my cappuccino instant mix junkie coffee.  So addicted.

by the way, we saw the movie Dunkirk yesterday - it made me cry and realize what an undertaking, what a disaster.

Still morning here in Ca., but not for long.

Janie, it made me want to cry reading how worn you  were after your night time shift yesterday..I have been tired, but didn't cry…but I'm thinking that may be what I need. A good cry to clean up the brain and the eyes.

Amy, I have turned to a clean page. I am going to be "fine" from now on. My "minister" son yesterday reminded me that I am now 92 years of age, and I should accept that. and stop feeling like I should be able to think and act like I did 10 years ago. His words have been needed and I feel great. I will rejoice in what you and others can do, and be thankful. I hope you have a really great day too. Hugs.

Larry, yes, my Jitterbug is a flip type, bright red, and has a lot of great things I didn't have before..not too difficult to adjust as the book of instructions is great. However, they entered not my personal phone # but one I do not recognize, so my Gary is getting it taken care of. Since he is the purchaser, I am now awaiting a conference call giving them the O.K. to accept Gary as handling things. I just had a call from an oriental sounding man, but I don't think that was what I am awaiting. I finally gave him my name and he said o.k. and hung up. I don't like to give my name to a stranger, but I could not understand him at all.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

June, when anyone asks me how I am, I automatically answer "fine" unless I have something obvious.  I've done that for years.  Usually no one cares anyway.

Your son is right in that at our ages we can't be expected to do what we did 10 years ago.  I really do feel "fine" but when I get up out of my chair, I realize I am not as "fine" as I think I am.  So accept your age for what it is and let others do things for you.

Old age is not for sissies!

Mary Ann I think most of us do care But little we can do except sympathize with you.

Denver

Good afternoon.  I am sitting here in the dark again as another storm is passing through.  The storm warning is for another 45 minutes, so I guess it will get worse before it gets better.

We have just returned from a lunch and tour of a retiremenlt community near us that we have been watching and visiting off and on for the past 10 years since it opened.   It is a wonderful facility, but I just do not see us living there, or at least not yet.

CAROL, a couple that were in our group are neighbors of yours.  Kathleen and Ralph.  Kathleen knows you from quilting and another sewing group.  Very nice lady.  I think she is ready to sign on the dotted line and would move in a minute, but not sure Ralph is ready.  We were lookin at Wind Crest.

JANE, I, too, felt a pang of sadness for you as I read how tired you were last night after your shift, but commend you for going ahead and having a little cry.  I think it does help us to release a bit of the pent up stress.  I believe you need to work to help with your living expenses, and even tho I know you enjoy your job, it still is a bit more than I wish you had to do.  You are right, Englewood is near to where Carol and I live.  I hope the girls have enjoyed their time here and it looks like tomorrow is going to be a nicer day so the wedding should be nice.

JUNE, my dad's friend, Diane just told my dad the very same thing you say that Gary said to you and what Mary Ann said today.  Age does catch up to us, and even though the mind is still ready and willing, our bodies are not.  My dad is upset with himself that he can not do like he used to, and yet he does way more than some people that are much younger than he is.  He is also very unhappy with a lot that goes on in our world today and just can not cope.  For a 93 year old man he is in excellent shape.  My #3 son, Mark had lunch with my dad last Monday.  They had a wonderful time together and my dad acted like him old self.  Getting out is a good thing, even though sometimes it is seems more than we want to deal with.  Mark ask my dad to just try to be a little bit more positive about things and to try to push himself a little bit more and dad said he will do his best.  As you all might know, we were all terribley disappointed that my dad backed out on coming for our anniversary.  He litterly made himself ill as it was so much more than he wanted to deal with, and as soon as he told me he was not coming, the weight of the world was lifted off of his shoulders.  Bless his heart❣️

CAROL, enjoy your last night with Loki.  He is a lucky doggie that has nice caring grandparents to take care of him.  We have never bug bombed our home..... are you speaking of your current home that you do this?  The only critters we have in our basement are spiders, but they are not bad ones.  Not that I like ANY spider!

We have a Bronco Game to watch tonight, so best get our dinner ready so we can be front and center of the TV when the coverage starts.

Have a good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Still  haven't had a nap. My Gary came over and spent hours on my computer arranging stuff for my new cell phone, plus neatening up other things. He is such a great blessing. He is not well, but you would never know it.

I had a big lunch downstairs today, so I am going down to check my mail, then home to put on loose garments and just let things happen quietly. I am content.

Good morning everyone...

Heavy cloud cover this morning. We were to get a storm lst night but it must have found another home.

A work about the house today, after VON leaves we will head into the town to pick up dog food.

Gloria , that would have been awesome to see the Century plant bloom!!!

Hal, the DOH (Dept Of Highways) uses a lot of salt and liquid calcium in the winter here on our roads. Undercoating helps prevent that nasty rust from eating the vehicle. While waiting for hubby to come out of the bank yesterday a man came up and said lady the front of my vehicle was smoking. Told him thank you but it was just the undercoating burning off.

Jenny, I am with you on the spiders..rather be a long long way from them.

Better  get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Nothing else on the agenda today so I'll come home and love up the doggies and make dinner and that will be it for today.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend and do with it as you wish!

Hi everyone. We will be back into the 90's today with a low chance of an isolated thunderstorm.  The housekeeper just got here.  I had planned on getting a haircut but just not feeling peppy enough to do it, at least this morning.  We do plan on eating our main meal out today.

Lloyd, do you need a CDL license to move farm equipment?  I was working for the Transportation Department when the CDL law was passed and implemented.  You are about 3 1/2 years older than I am.

Carol, I didn't see anything about DB Cooper.

Jane and June, your mentioning being so tired reminds me of the story our pastor told us yesterday at the Wisdom Group.  He said he was on the wrestling team in high school and one evening was so tired that when he left the practice he stopped at the gas station to put $5 worth of gas in his car.  It was back when an attendant pumped the gas.  He got out the five dollars but handed the attendant his wallet and drove off holding the $5 bill.  He said his friend who was with him reminds him of that event anytime they see each other.  I am glad you are liking the Jitterbug phone.

Mary Ann, I think we all do the "fine" answer to the inquiry about how we are.  However, with friends and family I may say I have done better or something like that.  I think often out mind tells us we are fine but our body gives us another message.

Jenny, I know you all get quite few storms from the mountains and quick changes in your weather.  While the idea of living in a retirement community where meals are available sounds inviting, the thought of trying to get rid of so much we have in this house it daunting.  We will stay here as long as possible.  I know there are estate agents who will come in and handle the sale of your personal belongings and that is what we would have to do.  It certainly is not something I need to think about today.  So nice to read that your father is in excellent shape even if he can't do all that he would like to do.  Was that a preseason game for the Bronco's you watched last evening?  I didn't realize they had started televising any of them yet.  About 3 weekends from now college and pro football should begin and I am ready.

June, I don't think you had mentioned that Gary is not well before.  Glad he is there to help you with your computer and phone and your business affairs.

One thing you don't see here in the south is cars rusted out as there is little salt used on the roads.  Glad you got the undercoating on the car.

Gloria, glad you checked in even though you are not feeling up to par.

deAngel, glad you will be getting out today and hope you enjoy your lunch at Friendly's.
