Hi everyone. It is another overcast morning with a good chance of some rain today and a high of only about 80 degrees.  Tonight is our first Wednesday night dinner at the Church for the fall and Pat has decided to go again this year.  Then we will enjoy having Scott and Jennifer out for a couple of hours to visit. I spent most of yesterday and last evening working on Pat's laptop.  About 9 pm I did something and lost the shortcuts I had spent several hours getting set up on it.  I got up early this morning and recreated them.  Now have only a few other programs to install and then will be done with the restoration.

Hal, the amount of money paid in prizes particularly for the winner and other top scorers is really something. There are now a lot of rich young men playing the game.

Mary Ann, if you want to see the amounts paid out at a particular golf tournament just do a search for prize money at a given tournament.  I have really enjoyed watching the golf coverage this year.

June, sorry to hear you are having problems with the Jackuie Lawson website.  We use that site but seems I often forget about it.  Glad you felt adventuresome yesterday.

Shirley, you have me beat by 3 with the great grandchildren and we will have no more.  There is a likelihood that we could before too many years become great great grandparents as two of the greats are now teenagers and the third one is twelve.  It is hard to give or to receive instructions over the phone.  Have you looked for video's on Youtube that might provide guidance on fixing the Fitbit problem.  I am finding there are usually some videos on about any subject available on that site.

Jenny, glad that the closing went well and know you are looking forward to seeing the inside of the home.  What a delightful temperature you had yesterday.

Jane, glad you slept well last night.  I slept until about 3:30 but couldn't go back to sleep.  I got up about 4:30 and showered and then got my day started by redoing the work I lost last evening at bedtime on Pat's laptop.

Amy, it sounds like you will be busy tending to Babe between the pills and bathing her foot in salt water.

Lloyd, our children and grandchildren certainly are a blessing although at times they may make us wonder a bit.  :)  It must be fun to watch twins grow up.  We never get over losing one of our children regardless of their age. I haven't had a cup of coffee in a long time.  Pat drinks at least one cup every morning and sometimes a cup at supper if we have a salad meal.

Joy

Good Wednesday morning.

I got back home late yesterday afternoon, but was very tired and once I got in,  I didn't do much of anything else.  I had stopped and picked up something for my dinner, so I wouldn't have to cook anything.  And,  by 9, I had already had a nap. Finally, went and got ready for bed and didn't even get to see the 11 o'clock news.  Was up several times, and didn't get up until after 8.  I had a difficult time "getting up and at'em",  but am feeling a little more awake now.

I had a great week end up in Connecticut visiting a grand daughter, with a new baby, and a grandson, who's little girl is almost 2.   The little ones were vey shy, not really knowing who my son or I were.  But, they did come around eventually.  It was a very busy weekend.  Went out to eat several times, and visited with my grandson's inlaws,  who we had never met.  Everyone was so friendly and made us feel very "at home" with them.  The time went fast and way too short.  Both grand's told  us that they plan on coming down our way at Christmas time, so that will be something to look forward to.

I did want to mention our trip up on Friday.  Probably Gloria and Lindancer,  who, both live in the general area where we were going.  We had a great trip until we got into Connecticut.  They probably  both are aware of Rt. 15, Hutchison Pkwy,  in Connecticut.  What should have taken us about 45 min. took over 2 hours because of a loooooooong rolling backup.  Beautiful ride, but just bumper to bumper for miles and miles.  Everyone that we mentioned this to up there, were very familiar with this problem.  And, being a Friday afternoon going into a holiday week end, didn't help.  But, we made it........just took a little more time.  We could have gone a different route,, but this was supposed to be the shortest.  Next time, we will try a different way.  Beautiful state, tho.  Very scenic.

Amy, I hope your dog's foot improves. My son, who has a black Lab, has been dealing with a foot problem with his dog, for several years now. Started out the same way as you describe, but just couldn't get it to heal up.  One vet he took her to,  finally wanted to amputate the foot.  So, he started looking around for another vet. He went to 4 or 5 vets, who all had different treatments, none of which  worked.  He finally went to a vet dermatologist, who was able to help the dog.  It is definitely an allergy problem, but he has to buy special food, give the dog a shot every other day, sometimes twice a day, put special boots on the dog when she goes outside, some kind of a special soaking solution several times a week  and really watch the area very closely.  So far, this past spring and summer, the dog has been doing well. He has spent thousands of dollars on this dog.  They don't have any children,  so this dog has cost them probably more than if they had children. LOL  But, the dog is a big part of the lives,  so, thankfully, they can handle the expense.

Sure hope you won't run into any problems like that.  Just keep on top of it.

I am slowly waking up and need to get things put away and I am sure there will be a nap coming up.

June,  I hope you are feeling better this morning and will have a better day today.  And, Lindancer, hope, you too, are feeling better after your couple days in the hospital.   And, hoping all the other friends are doing well this morning, also.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend.  Thinking of all the people in Texas, and now, all the ones in Florida who are bracing for another bad hurricane.  And, hopefully,  it won't be as bad, but right now, it doesn't look good.  Plus, everyone up the east coast could be affected, also.  So, try and stay safe.

I got my shower and dressed and made a foray to the store this morning.  Everything on my list was paper goods...towel, tp, coffee filters, napkins, etc.  Then I hit the drug store and got all three of my prescriptions filled.  I'm back home and everything is put away.  The only thing I bought that wasn't paper or medicine and wasn't on my list was a hogie for lunch.  I suppose some of you call them subs but around here they're hogies....with a long o.

I think I'll try to hold off on eating it so I can have supper when I come home from work at 7.  I hope you are all having a good day!

JOY, sounds like you had a very special weekend.

AMY, I hope the doggie's foot improves with none of the complications Joy mentioned.

Amy, reference your dog and the licking of the foot.  We had a similar problem some years back, licking of an area that eventually turned into a big limp on her rump, which we had removed, but I want go into the whole story, too long.  But vet made a mess of things and finally we heard of "Bitter Apple" spray, which we bought and started spraying the area until it healed and no problems since, except a humongous scar.

At any rate just get some of the spray and spray the area and see if she want leave it alone.  Must taste terrible.

I had a German Shepard that suffered from hot spots and was always scratching and causing hemorrhoids on her ears and vet gave him steroids which I think finally caused us to have to put him down.  Again, long story.  I am afraid I have little faith in vets any more although we take ours in regularly for shots, etc. but some of the meds they give dogs have some serious side affects.

Good afternoon, on this cool Fall day.

Gloria I am sure you had some of the thunder storm and rain to day.  There are flood all over riverhead.  I had to go the the cardiologist this morning. He said come back next month.

I am waiting for my nephew to come from Pa. to day, he wants to stay a few days and see if he can be of any help to me.

Joy, the traffic out here was awful this week end.  The main roads were at a stand still. People are out here for the beaches.  I am glad you enjoyed your trip.  Have you every been to Conn. In the autumn it is beautiful.

Jane wishing you LOTS of  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D through your till.

Well I did get the upper hand on a few things that needed done and I managed to even squeak in some sewing too....bonus

Joy ,I hope your son has the problem under control now.The neighbours dog had the same problem and he too had to buy food with no wheat  or wheat by products in it. He is also giving a Benedryl to his dog. It was only one paw that was affected and just maybe she did step in something that irritated it??

Hal, I understand what your saying and my vet also believes in holistic ways to treat an animal if she can.She doesn't get you to put your dog up on the table like others do but she gets down on the floor with your dog. She is a good old country vet.

Gloria , I hope the storm is soon over for you.

Better go see what I can rustle up for dinner..

Happy Wed. folks. Nothing new from here, with the exception of failing health for an old friend from Hemet. He was in the Marines, and never let anyone forget it..a really nice fellow.
A big help to anyone who needed it.

A slow day for me...too much shortness of breath, so doing nothing. My Gary will be here at four o'clock. He wants some work done by our Notary, so we will get that taken care of.

The latest hurricane headed toward the East Coast sounds like a mean one. I'm praying it will veer back out to the Ocean. We have had enough bad problems with weather...we don't need any more tragedies. Please God.

I was supposed to have a blood draw this morning at five a.m. and they never showed up, so I guess it is rescheduled for tomorrow a.m. Stuff happens....

Congratulations, JANIE!  So happy to read that you will be getting your first GREAT GRAND ðŸ'¶ 🍼❣️❣️

Today was a busy one.  We had a lunch to attend at 12:30.  A new restaurant called Newk's invited us for a free lunch to check them out.  They open to the public next Monday.   We both really enjoyed our meal and chatting with the staff and management.  They are a southern company and have just opened two new stores here in the Denver Area.

After lunch we headed to Brian's new home.  It is about 24 miles on a interstate type road from our house.  We love it and know they are going to be very happy there.

Tomorrow Brian will rent a truck and they will take all of the newly purchased patio furniture, BBQ, and the likes over there.  It will be a full load, that is for sure.  Then Friday the moving van will deliver the house hold goods.  They are so excited to get moved in and we are excited for the,.  I am already feeling a bit sad as it has sure been a fun time with their being here.

Dr. Dave flew to Jacksonville today for meetings with his company.  He plans to get a flight home by noon on Friday with hope that Irma will not cause him any problems.

Welcome home, JOY.  It appears that you had a nice time.  Traffic seems to be getterpretty bad these days no matter where you live.

GLORIA, thank you for the heads up that your weather was keeping you away from us today.

LARRY, how nice the Wednesday Night dinners have started up again.  I hope you two had a nice visit with Scott and Jennifer, and you all enjoyed your dinner together.

Same story as last night....I can not keep my eyes open, so think I will say goodnight and pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

The Winter Boots
(Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this)

Did you hear about the teacher who was helping one of her pupils put on his boots?

He asked for help and she could see why.

Even with her pulling, and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on.

By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat.

She almost cried when the little boy said,

'Teacher, they're on the wrong feet.'

She looked, and sure enough, they were.

Unfortunately, it wasn't any easier pulling the boots off, than it was putting them on.

She managed to keep her cool as, together, they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the correct feet.

He then announced,

'These aren't my boots.'

She bit her tongue, rather than get right in his face and scream,

'Why didn't you say so?'

like she wanted to.

Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet.

No sooner had they got the boots off when he said,

'They're my brother's boots. But my Mom made me wear 'em today.'

Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry.

But she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots BACK onto his feet again.

Helping him into his coat, she asked,

'Now, where are your mittens?'

He said,

'I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots.'

She'll be eligible for parole in three years.

Good Morning Everyone!

I cant believe it, I beat Janie into the forum.  I am up and getting myself ready for bible study and mens breakfast (snack) as my normal Thursday  morning routine.

Jenny, I hope you Son doesn't run into trouble while in Jacksonville.  As usual they seemed to be having trouble figuring out where Irma is going, just like a woman, huh!

Guess time to wake the wife by going into the bath to get myself cleaned up.  Everyone have a good day and stay out of trouble.

Amy, hope your test comes out great.

Oh, by the way Janie, I have 11 greats. I remember some years back all the family met in Uvalde Texas for a Thanksgiving dinner and I looked around the table and there was 13 of us and looked at the wife told her, look what we caused.  We all had a good laugh.  Now I have almost that many Great Grandchildren, but none on the way right now, that I am aware of.....LOL

JaneS

I was up at my usual time this morning and I read my messages while I sat on the steps waiting for the dogggies to produce.  Then I gave Annie her pill and while we waited out the hour, I washed all the dishes that accumulate in the front right hand corner of the dishwasher that can't really go through the dishwasher.  And I ground coffee and made a fresh pot.

Next on my menu was to prepare birthday cards for the first 4 September birthdays in my family.  And while I was at it, I did an anniversary card for my son and DIL.  I still have two birthdays to go in September and 2 more right at the beginning of October.  We're loaded at this time of the year.

We've all had breakfast and I'm on my second cup of coffee and I'm here to see what all ya'll are up to today.  My plan is to loaf since I was REALLY tired when I came home last night.  Of course my face-time phone call with my granddaughter erased some of the "tired" and replaced it with "jubilation".  But I did go to bed early and now I'm up and attem!

LLOYD, I heard that joke many years ago from my daughter's kindergarten teacher and I laughed just as hard this time as I did when she told me.  She told it to me because Cathy couldn't find her coat when it was time to come home.  Seems she wore her sister's coat by mistake and she forgot.  Of course, the mistake was natural.  It used to be her coat first.

Gonna go do my crossword puzzle and then see what else I can get into.  Enjoy yur day, Everyfriend.

Hi everyone. We are expecting a beautiful day with sun all day and only getting to around 80 degrees.  I had a good day yesterday and finished up Pat's laptop and showed her the few things that are different for her than the previous setup.  We did enjoy a great meal at the Church last night and then some nice visiting with Scott and Jennifer.  Scott returned our PT Cruiser as he had his car repaired.  Today will be a more restful day.  I will go to coffee and then after returning my friend to his home I plan on going back to the Church for our Wisdom group.

I am just now watching the Weather Channel and it looks like South Carolina is now in the path for Hurricane Irma.  They are showing that the entire State is covered in the area that may be impacted by the high winds.  I will be keeping an eye on the situation.  It is still early and I know the path can change daily.

Hal, I will pass your suggestion about the sour apple spray to my son and granddaughter as their dogs occasionally have the same licking problems.

deAngel, glad to see your nephew will be with you a few days and try to help you.

Amy, we have never encountered a vet that didn't put the cat or dog on a table to examine them.

June, it is looking like the hurricane is going to impact several states including South Carolina.  From what they are saying the whole State seems to be in the middle of the impacted area. I will be getting the emergency supplies gathered together after the housekeeper finishes her work tomorrow.

Jane, congrats on soon becoming a great grandmother.  We have had great grandchildren a long time with the oldest being 15.

Jenny, you can't beat a free lunch. I have never heard of that chain. Glad to see that the move will occur on Friday as it is always good to get one's things together in your own home. I hope Dr. Dave has no trouble getting out of Jacksonville.

Lloyd, I liked your chuckle this morning.

Good morning everyone, looks like the rain is finally over and the sun is now shining. The dampness this week has really got to me. I have also picked up a cold since Sunday.Glad I had a bag of honey/lemon cough drops. Bas week for me. My regular CNA had an accident over the holiday so could not work, only had the one I like to cook on Tuesday and this place is starting to look messy. I try to do some cleaning up but it is impossible. There is a shake up at the company I get the CNA's from so they had no one else to send. Will see what next week brings.

JANE  congratulations on the great grand that is on the way. I well remember what that feeling was like and how that boy looked like my grandson.

CALLIE  it those girls thought the RI beach water was cold they should never been in the water on the Maine coast. Now that is cold.

This old lady is feeling precisely like an "old" lady. things seem to be going down hill each day now. Had my blood draw an hour late. The young lady decided to use a large vein on the back of my hand, and she loosely covered it with gauze and tape. I took my shower later and the bandage fell off. So went on with my normal routine, which included a short snooze, then made my bed. Noticed that the back of my hand was two thirds swollen with blood under the skin. Managed to get myself decent and downstairs, where one of our main Nurses had a fit. There was nothing she could do really except give an ice pack, to go home, relax. and keep the icepack in place till it lost it's cool. Which I did. Swelling has gone down about 20 percent, but I will live with the discoloration for quite a bit longer.

I hope your morning was better than that. I am "in" for the day. Ordered lunch which is always huge enough for two meals so that will take care of my meals for the day. I will just relax and enjoy. Hugs all around.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

June, that is too bad about your blood draw.  I've had it taken from the back of my hand many times but I don't recall ever having your results.  I did have a blood draw about 10 days ago in the crook of my elbow.  The technician did a painless draw but I still have the remnants of the bruise mark.  There are times it is impossible to get a vein in either elbow so they have taken it from my hand.  It's awful getting old isn't it?!  I so often say "getting old is not for sissies".  I hope you heal soon.

Mary Ann

June Drabek

Mary Ann, they had me come down for a check of my hand, and she said if it swells to use the ice pack as often as needed. Usually when they draw blood they use a tight bandage, this girl put on a very loose one, so perhaps it needed  more pressure to seal the puncture. Whatever...there is no pain, just ugly discoloration that will take weeks to fade. Whatever...we just grin and bear it. As you say...old age is NOT for sissies. God will take care of it in His way.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

A good Thursday evening to EVERYFRIND.

The move from out home to the new home went very well today.....they will be spending their first night there as the moving van will arrive early tomorrow morning.  It sure is quiet around here as the "Doodle" has been here for nearly 3 months and we are really going to miss him and his family.  Now the kitty, not so much.  I think Smokey will be very happy to be the only pet in this house!

JUNE, I am sorry the vampire left you with a big old bruise on the back of your hand.  I have had a few of my own in the past.  I hope the swelling will go away soon and the color as well.

GLORIA de, I hope you are enjoying the time your nephew has to spend with you.

LARRY, glad you enjoyed your meal and visit last night with the family.  You and Jane speak of playing a crossword game on the computer?  Do you mind telling me where you go to get it, please?

It has been a beautiful day.....there seems to be a bit less smoke in the air than the past few days.  It really has been bad here.

I am watching Irma and praying that she tones down the wind she is putting out.  She sure has caused some very severe damage.  Then Jose is is breathing down her neck. How I wish we had a way to drop something in the middle of the storms eye and make it loose strength.  Sure would be nice.

GLORIA, I am sorry you are still feeling so punk!  These PC's can sure cause us a lot of stress when they do not cooperate.  I see there is a big breech in security today with Equafax!  That is very concerning!  Anymore, I am fearful that nothing is safe from hackers.  Feel better please!

HAL, ol' Irma is still keeping everyone on their toes as they try to decide just where she is going!  The airlines were sure hiking fares from out of Florida.

JANE, the good news you heard last night sure is something to perk up a tired ol gal after her long shift.  So exciting for the entire family.

I best get us a little bite to eat.  Have a good rest of your evening.
