AMY good to see you. do not work to hard. some day hope I can figure out our time deference. we are in central time zone. it is now 5:57 A M and mostly clear and 68º going for 87º . possible rain after midnight. Hope so surface is getting dry dust flying on gravel roads. have a great day.

JaneS

I'm up but not sure I'm "attem" yet.  I opted for the sofa to wait out Annie's pill this morning so I'm just getting around.  I just noticed that the coffee pot is finished so maybe that will give my "getup and go" a little more go.

Have to tell you, I've been struggling with some forms that need to be filled out and I was at my wit's end last night.  I'm just not good with figures and I have to read and reread and my eyes were all buggy.  I was wising my accountant daughter lived next door and not in Texas when the phone rang.  It was my accountant daughter.  Turns out all she needed was a couple of passwords and she got me everything I needed in less than an hour.  She's emaiing it to me this morning and all I have to do is copy it.  If I had to keep working at it, it would have been mid-October before I got it finished.

And when I tried to thank her she said "It's just a small part of what I owe you for what you gave me.  I owe you more than I'll ever be able to repay".  She doesn't but it was nice of her to say it.  And the nicest thing is, she meant it!

AMY, nice to know one of your invalids is all better.  Now for the other one.

Lloyd, you've got to stop wandering around the Soda Shoppe in the middle of the night.  Sorry we weren't around to chat with you.  Sometimes we just have to sleep!

Everyfriend, have a lovely day.  Make it whatever you wish!

Good Morning All,
Like JaneS I am up but not sure if I am awake.  I am going to church mens breakfast this morning.

I am not sure if I posted yesterday or not.  I did read all the post yesterday, that I am sure of.

My old back is giving me fits, hurt all night.  I hope the treatment I am to get next week works and gives me some relief.  I did a little research on it and it takes 3-4 weeks for the full effect to take hold but it can work for up to a year.  So keep you fingers crossed for me.''

JaneS, isn't it nice to have talented daughters.  My RN daughter has been taking care of my arm and keeping the dressings changed.

Got to get a move on.  Everyone have a great day.

A good Saturday morning to all the friends.

I had a long message written and hit the wrong button and it just all disappeared.

So, I will just mention that it is a pretty morning outside and supposed to be warmer temperatures today and for a few days.

Everything went well yesterday with my doctor's appointment.  Nothing new or changed, so I was in and out before my schedule appointment time. I think they were  all anxious to get out on a Friday afternoon.  The waiting room was empty and it seemed very quiet everywhere.

I baked some biscuits and cooked some sausage patties to put in the freezer and have already enjoyed a sausage biscuit sandwich for my breakfast along with a fresh cut-up peach and yogurt.  So, that will hold me for quite a while.

Not sure what I will get into today, but do want to try to catch up with some reading.  Hopefully,  I will be able to go down and sit outside for a little while later this afternoon,

Hal, sorry your back was giving you fits.   Fingers crossed for you to be able to get some relief next week.

Jane, do hope, by this time, you are  "up and attem".  Glad your daughter was helpful in getting all the forms you had to fill out.

Good morning,  Amy and Lloyd, also this morning.

Oh, and thanks for the  nice comments on my DIL's dancing video.  Hopefully, it got some "toe's tapping".

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

Hi everyone. It is another clear and sunny day up this way and we will probably get to 90 degrees this afternoon although we are starting the day in the 60's.  This morning I plan on attending a meeting and then stopping at Aldi's to get a few items.  Later this afternoon and evening I will watch some college football.  Yesterday afternoon Jennifer came over and had dinner with us and spent the evening.  She played a game called Farkle with her grandmother.

Gloria, sure hope you don't get too much of an impact from the Hurricane headed up your way.  It is nice that your sons can share with you their tomatoes from their gardens.  A couple of our friends shared a few tomatoes and peppers with us from their gardens this year.

Joy, I bet your daughter stays in good physical condition.  She must be a very accomplished dancer. You would have to be in very good condition to be able to do that dancing.  It reminds me a bit like square dancing. My best friend grew up in Western Virginia and he said he loved to clog.  Thanks for sharing  the video link.

June, do they do a blood draw every morning?  No wonder you are tired during the day by getting awoken from a sleep so early.

deAngel, it is easy to let things become a Fibber McGee situation.  I think our pantry and our guest bedroom closet is getting close to that category.  Do you ever listen to the old time radio shows on the computer?  There are many available free to listen to. We don't have a channel that shows the old Johnny Carson shows but sure wish we did.  Nice your nephew planted you some fall flowers before he left.

Jane, I hope you get shown on the Walmart Facebook page.  If so, please let us know.

June, nice to see you still are able to get out for your enjoyable walks.

Jenny, were these fence men hired by your HOA?  It appears they do so little work that it would hardly pay them to come to your property.  I hope they are paid by the job and not by the hour.  I hope the new sound bar is what you want.  My son has a sound bar on his TV.  We have never used one as prefer using the headphones, which give us much better sound than the TV and we each have control of our own volume level.  Costco does have a great return policy.

Amy, I haven't had peach jam in years and years and it sure sounds good.  I have always preferred jam to jelly as it spread so much better on toast.  Those geese must be making their plans for their trip South as it won't be long now.

Jeanne, I think most of us feel like pin cushions especially when we are in the hospital.  It is interesting how much blood can tells the doctors about us.

Lloyd, I think 5 tubes is about the maximum I have ever had drawn at one time.  Our body is a marvelous thing in terms of restorative power such as replacing the blood and balancing it out.

Hal, I sure hope the treatment will stop your back pain for a year.

Joy, nice to see you had a favorable report from your doctor and didn't spend a long time at his office as often seems we have to do.  Pat will usually fry up all of a pound of sausage at once and then have the sausage patties with eggs over a several day period.  It sure saves work.

I just watched this short video made from one of Paul Harvey's commentaries and felt it was worth sharing as he hits the nail right on the head.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3Az0okaHig&feature=player_embedded

Gloria

Good morning everyone, finally got here. Bad night of no sleep and finally got to dreamland about 4am. Looks like we will get some wind and rain from Jose Tuesday and Wednesday from the forecast I just saw. At least it is not a monster storm like the last 2 with all their destruction.

GLORIA de  listening to the radio shows we grew up with had us using out imaginations picturing what they were saying. These days nothing is left to the imagination.

AMY  my daughter only got enough from her "experimental" garden this year for one batch of relish. She said she had just about enough to last till next year.

HAL  I have gien up of finding anything to ease the back pain I have. Just have to live with it I guess.

LARRY  my family knows how I love fresh tomatoes and I am glad my sons are close enough to keep me supplied this summer. The weather guessers on the different channels all have something different to say about Jose but will just have to wait and see what happens. Love that Paul Harvey. He sure never pulled any punches.

I came in here to mention that Fall has begun - crisp and cool today.

So, Miss Jane:  To answer your question, this quilt will be finished when it is good and ready - that was a low blow.  In fact, Sweet Amy wrote that I could look into another pattern and fabric sale while "thinking" about THE QUILT.   ...... so - so - so

Joy:  Clogging looks like a lot of fun - the video is really nice.

Gloria de:  Remembering a kind taxi driver in Birmingham who wanted to show me the entire view of the city without a charge.  He drove me up to a high spot overlooking the area - he was so proud of Birmingham.  I was working there and it was such a great welcome to the city.  Jenny and I are about a half hour's drive to the Springs.

Amy:  Please tell Jane that I am an artist ( :2funny:) and can't be pushed.

Amy

Gloria, maybe your daughter would like to try this one is she likes marmalade. I have made it and the recipe is a keeper.

Carol lol asking a quilter to mend is like asking Picasso to paint your house...I just found another pattern called Irish Stars that look interesting especially if you have 2 1/2 squares...:)

Larry , I put a few maraschino cherries in the peach jam for colour.

Line is full of laundry ,the weather turned out great other than too hot  so the a/c is on.....the girls love the cool house..

Good morning!

It is a bit chilly here this morning.  It is snowing in the high country and we had a brush fire 5 miles or so as the crow flies last evening.  The smoke smell was terrible.  That about sums it up.

I don't think SHIRLEY is having snow where she is camping.....at least I sure hope not.  The trees are really changing, so I know she is enjoying the view.

LARRY, the fence men work for a company that is hired by the HOA.  They sure could use some supervision.

CAROL, you must have been on top of Red Mountain in B'ham, where Vulcan is, when the taxi driver showed you around? B'ham Is a lovely city.  My hubby was born there.  I still have not heard from Shirley, so I guess the only way we would get to see her is to drive up and look for her in the camp ground.

LLOYD, I would be there in a blink of an eye to enjoy fried chicken with you and Nancy if I could.

LARRY, I enjoyed listening to your link, and I remember hearing it the day it was aired.  We listened to Paul Harvey every day at noon!

JOY, happy to read the Dr. appointment went well.  Wish they all could be that easy!  Boy how I wish I could have joined you for a biscuit and sausage patty this morning.  Yummm.

HAL, not only fingers crossed but lot's of positive thoughts and prayers for you with your back pain.  Enjoy your breakfast.

GLORIA, sorry about your lack of sleep!  That is the worse!  I sure wish you could get some relief for your back pain😡😡. Because of our marijuana laws here in Colorado it seems more and more I am hearing about many that are turning to CBD's for relief from pain in general.  This allows one to get the help without having to smoke and the fear of getting high.  Here is some info if anyone is interested in reading about this.  http://herb.co/2016/07/26/everything-you-need-to-know-about-cbd/    Many children have been moved to Colorado to be able to utilize this treatment for children with epilepsy.  When people are desperate for pain relief they become more accepting of using this herb to get relief.

JANE, yippee.....your daughter came to the rescue!

I am off to get something done......hubby is watching college football.

Enjoy your day, EVERYFRIEND.

CAROL, I said I was just asking!  None of us are getting any younger.  You could just post a picture of a quilt you've already finished and I wouldn't know the difference.

I got all the stuff from my daugher, copied it and it's ready to send.  Unfortunately, I don't have an envelope big enough to hold it so I'll have to make a quick trip to WM and pick up a couple of envelopes.

HAL,  having talented and capable daughters is certainly great but having one who thinks you actually gave her something special is a definite extra!

My other daughter called this morning to see if I wanted to go along to the Amish grocery store.  I told her I wasn't dressed yet and she said she'd give me 15 minutes if I really wanted to go.  Boy! did I hurry!  And one of the things I usually do when I get dressed got left undone.  I just went back and realized that for the first time in a long time, I didn't make my bed today.  And now I have to decide if I might as well leave or hurry up and get it done.  When we were kids and we left our beds unmade, my grandmother told us we "pigged in as we hogged out".  I never wanted to be told that so I usually made mine.  Now I can hear Gramma's voice.

Anyway, it was a good trip to the Amish store and I came home with a hoagie for my lunch.  It was goooood and it was cheeeeeeap!

And on top of that, I had a nice visit with my daughter.

JANE, n e v e r miss a chance to go shopping at the Amish Store!  Funny how a voice of authority can come back to us, isn't it.  I saw something a few days ago that implied you should NOT make your bed up, rather pull the sheet and blanket way down to the bottom and let it air out!  That would be impossible for me to do....even if it is a good idea to air it out!

Laundry all in and put away ,ironing done and now time for tea. Putting together a Film At Five quilt and will be happy to move on. :))

Jane,I hope to hit a farmers market on the 29th and pick up 3 jars of honey for the winter. Talked with daughter in love this morning  David is back from NM and I could hear crying in the back ground. I asked who was crying and she said Skye was crying, David was out in the garage and Skye wanted out with Daddy...lol

Jenny, is this early for snow?? Our weather is unbelievable at the moment, we have the a/c on and in Aug we had fires on.....

JENNY, I saw that same article about not making your bed.  It was in Reader's Digest.  And it was about airing it out and letting all the night things out.  So if anyone comes over I'll just say "Reader's Digest told me not to make the bed."

I rather think Gramma might not accept that, though.

Well, been a kinda busy day.  I went to the men's breakfast but didn't enjoy it much, matter of fact I can hardly remember what was talked about.  My hand and arm was swollen and my upper arm started aching, so when I came home I sit for a while and finally called my daughter and ask her what she thought I ought to do, go out to urgent care at the base or just ignore it and see if it went down on it's own, se said it would be a good idea to go out to urgent care and let them check it.  So my SIL drover me out there and I had them check it.  The doctor said that the swelling was caused by the trama of the injury and gravity was causing the hand and forearm to swell from the blook that was going into the elbow area.  He said it looked pretty good and he didn't see any infection.  It took, it seemed, forever to see the doctor and to get the aid to put on a new dressing.  My SIL went up to phramcy and got some meds that doctor prescribed so I didn't have to walk all that distanc.  I finally got home and fixed myself a sandwich, watched some football and lay  down and found some of Junes" ZZZ's.  Or maybe itr was JaneS.  But I didn't use them completely up and I will return to unused portion.

Anyyhow, my shoulder is still hurting and arm and hand still swollen and uncomfortable.

Sweetdreams, God Bless and nite nite....

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy thanks for thinking of me.  And Lloyd thanks for the advice.  I do feel somewhat better this morning.  Amy, it has been years since I have seen a stary sky.   Living in a city ruins all that, just too much light at night.  I used to see them when I lived in Del Rio, that is in the middle of nowhere.

I wish we could get some of your rain Lloyd.  It is really dry here and the most they promise us is about 30 percent (which means 70 percent chance it wont rain).

Well if I cam going to make it to church I am going to have to get a move on.  Everyone have a great day.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. The morning starts out with a nice clear sky and anticipated mid-80's for this Sunday.  I did attend the meeting yesterday and then stopped at Aldi's and finished up stocking the larder so we are good for a week or more in the eating deparatment.  I expect today will be our typical Sunday.  I am ready for Church but Pat isn't up yet and I am doubtful she will make it for Sunday School as it takes her awhile to eat her breakfast and then get ready.  I didn't watch very much of the football games yesterday.  I will probably watch some of them this afternoon.

I am running short of time this morning so am not going to make any individual comments on postings.  I did read them all before I got up this morning and happy to see that all seems well. I still need to read the Sunday School lesson.  I'll be back tomorrow.

Joy

Good morning.  See that Jane is missing this morning from all the regulars.   She must be busy with the dogs or getting ready for church.

Hal, glad to see you are getting ready for church. So, that means you arm must be feeling better.  Sure hope so.

Larry, good morning to you as you get ready for church.

It was really foggy earlier when I got up, but seems to be getting brighter now.  Supposed to be quite warm today.  Busy day in Baltimore today, as it is the opening day for the Ravens football games.  Lots of excitement down in the city,  I  will have the game on, but will not be glued to the TV, as some will be.  I prefer football over baseball.  Little too early in the season to get excited.

My grandson is supposed to come down this afternoon with his new little baby boy,  unless his plans change.  Will be nice to see them.

Nothing really new this morning, and just wanted to say "Hello".

Have a good Sunday.

I was up and attem at my usual time this morning but I decided to take Annie's pill wait time and get ready for church a bit early.  That worked out pretty well except for the fact that there wasn't time to check up on Verna and Eloise.  I hope the place was clean when you all came by and I hope the coffee and tea were ready.

I stayed after church for coffee hour and a member of our church who has spent the better part of the past 3 years working with the Syrian and other refugees in Greece was there to tell us all what was done with the money and living items we sent.   And, while she has returned to the states, she left her project in good hands and our church will continue to support the work she started.  My heart goes out to those people who are stuck with nowhere to go.

JUNE, I hope your tires are all repaired also...including the spare!  Flat tires are no fun!

LLOYD, I'm glad you got the rain you needed and it it wasn't too much or too little.  But enough to settle the dust.  Enjoy!

JOY, thanks for missing me and I'm sorry there wasn't time to visit before church but you were right.  I was getting ready and I was busy with the dogs.

Now I'm hungry.  I hope you all enjoy your day.  Make it yours and do what you wish with it.

Don still has a cold so we are staying in this morning.  He spent so much time renewing our electronics yesterday with a new modem and router.  It sure isn't easy to keep up  with technology.  One other project was to update all of the electronic protection from hackers.

Jane:  I will try to send you a picture of the everlasting quilt of gray fabric.  You are so right - getting older and getting so many more interruptions.

Amy:  I have a box of 2 1/2 X 6 (I believe) rectangles in batik fabric that I may start to work on this winter.  Who knows what will happen?

Jenny:  I had forgotten that Bob hails from Birmingham.  He is a friendly guy!

Hal:  Take care of your arm.

Joy:  I hope your grandson brings your new great-grandson for a visit.

Good morning everyone, if I hurry I might post before noon time. Last report I heard on Jose we will get some rain and wind. Same thing as yesterday.

AMY  only one in my family who likes marmalade is my oldest son and they are not into canning.

JENNY  Shirley would love seeing the snow but not being in the nountains and havng to drive that RV in it. Don't know if I would like doing anything from maijuana.  Medical use is getting approved in many states now.

HAL  you do not need all that extra pain to go with the back pain.

Better get a move on and get my bed made before someone starts telling me I am getting lazy. But then after getting to sleep after 5am  I really have not been awake that long.

Gloria, no matter how close Jose come they say we will have a a lot of beach erosion, once it gets off of N. Car. it moves fast up the coast. To eastern LI and New England.

I am quite tired to day, as I did go out and do some needed grocery shopping.  I made up two list one for me and the other I gave to my neighbor.  So I only walked up a few isles, then set down and waited for her to finish the rest of my shoppin.

Big hugs to the rest of my dear friend in here.

Good afternoon.  Reading all of the posts, it looks like everyone is alive and kicking.  Hal, I have a bum shoulder that gives me constant pain so I feel I know what you're feeling. And it isn't fun.

Until we get a permanent interim minister our church services will be at 10 am, only one service.  Both Dot and I prefer the 8:30 service as the 10 am service takes up too much of the day because we go out to eat afterward.  I mentioned last week that we split a Tuna Melt and several people commented on it so we split another this week.  We also split a piece of cream pie.  We do eat well.

It is going to be a hot one today and the air is on.  I prefer fresh air, but I like to be comfortable too.

Grand Haven should be busy today.  Already I see several people on the beach and boats going in and out of the channel.
