Good Morning Everyone!

Well this is my second "wake-up".  First was about 4:30 but I didn't beat Amy, she was already up and posted.  Said she woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.  At any rate I am up and got one bill paid, my electric bill, and I beat Lloyd this morning.  I did manage to go back to be and dooze back off.

I have the coffee on and it should be ready in a second.

Amy I like any kind of preserves, jams, jellies, especially on hot buttered biscuits.  Also love pickled peaches.  Although you don't see those anymore.  My Grandmother made the best I ever ate.  I think I could eat a quart jar of them all by myself, if allowed to.

Everyone have a great day, I hear the coffee calling me.'

Gloria

Good morning everyone, we are getting some scattered rain from Jose already but will get heavy rain later. Jusr showed a report from the shore and those waves are splashing over walls already and Jose is not that close yet.

LARRY  we will not see any sunshine here till Thursday now. They just showed the ferries loaded leaving the islands off our coasts before the storm gets here, many cutting vacations short. I did copy the link Jenny posted and I finally read about that cbd  and sounds interesting. Maybe I shold talk to my doctor about it.

SANDY  like you all those hurricanes can turn east before they get this far up the coast. Last one to hit the RI coast was Sandy but we had nothing from that one here except rain. That is OK with me.

MARY ANN  tomorrow morning the exterminator will be here. No idea where he will start first floor or this third floor. We will have to leave our apartments for at least a hour. Yesterday my CNA helped me bag and seal some food containers and what there is room for others in the fridge. Cleaned up the floor in the bedroom closet so most every thing is up on the shelves. Just hope when they get here they tell me I have to take the clothes hanging there out. I still have seen any bugs in here and boy do I keep looking.

AMY   your remard about stupid made me think that there was someone who used to say-Stupid is what stupid does. Maybe it was Forest Gump? Wonderful idea for all of us to meet.

JANE  as long as we can gather at your home and are out in the fresh air it would be wonderful.

JUNE  most likely that alligator was someones pet that got too big. Hurricane winds have not reached here is several years and a gaitor would never survive a winter outside here.

HAL  I have looked for a geriatric doctor but only a couple in this state and too far for me to travel and not taking new patients.

AMY  oh let me know when you try the peach pineapple jam, I want to be there to try it, too. Nice combination.

JANE  try telling people we need a frost before having Indian summer. They seem to think after a few colder days and then a beautiful sunny warm one that is Indian summer.

Hi everyone. We have an overcast morning and will be in the low 90's this afternoon.  This morning Pat and I will go to a specialty shoe shop so she can get a new pair of shoes (obviously we didn't make it yesterday).  Following that we will eat our main meal of the day at a restaurant called "Honey on the Rock" that is owned by a ministry here in the area.  Pat has eaten there several times but this will be my first time.  Our granddaughter came over and had dinner with us last evening and then the ladies played the Farkle game.  Pat fixed a good meal.  I think she plans to come over again this evening to continue to games and have a light supper with Pat.  I am sure after a big lunch I won't want any supper.  Scott missed work yesterday at the direction of his doctor as he had a sore throat and swollen gland in his neck.  Apparently there is a viral something going around this area.  As he sees the public six nights a week he likely picked it up at work.  He hopes to feel up to working today as this is really their busy day as they have an evening buffet on Tuesday's.

Sandy, I would be happy to share some of our 90 degree weather with you if I could.

Amy, it sounds like you had a very productive morning yesterday and will enjoy the results of your labors during the cold winter months. Peach pineapple sounds so good. Have you ever made pear honey?  My mother used to make and can that and it was always so good on toast.

Jane, it would be great to join you, Hal, Amy and others for a nice get together.  I guess we will just have to settle for a digital get together.  Maybe Louise will set up the patio of the Soda Shoppe for a large gathering.

Hal, I have come to accept that the only way I will have the opportunity to meet more folks from these discussions is if they come to the Augusta area as I think traveling is probably a thing of the past for both Pat and I.  We hope to fly Pat's sister down for visit next month.  She hates flying but a car trip is out of the question as it is about 950 miles.  When we came here I tried to find a geriatric doctor but was not successful as so many doctors are refusing patients that have Medicare. You have had a busy month of appointments.  At least they get you out of the house. :) Good point about the doctors being the ones who benefit from our golden years.  I hadn't thought of that idea before.

June, hope you feel like attending your program today so you can meet the new employees.  It sounds like that is a very nice place to work.

Gloria, sure hope your inspection goes well today.

Mary Ann

I e-mailed my doctor last night and got a phone call this morning; I now have an appointment at 11:15 am to see him.

Gloria, I have not seen any bugs which is puzzling.  Only little pink circles on my body in various places.  Tom is looking into getting a "bug bomb" (or whatever) and we and the cat will have to leave for several hours.  Tom said the cat would go in the garage and I know he'd be very unhappy about that.

While Tom washed my bedding, there are clothes in the closet and I think I'll take everything down to be washed.  I'm the one getting bit but Tom is the one who has to do the laundry since it's downstairs and I don't go down any more.

Speaking of geriatric doctors - my doctor is a pediatrician!  He really doesn't know what to do about old people, but he's close to home and so far I haven't had any serious illness that it makes a difference.  He is Dot's doctor also and was Norm's doctor.  In fact, it is because they were going to him that when my other doctor left a practice, I had to change so went to him too.

Time to think about getting ready for the day and my doctor's appointment.

Mary Ann

Joy

Good morning.

I slept in a little  bit this morning, and then had a phone call.  So, I am just stopping by to say "Hi".  I did sleep pretty well, but got up and read a little bit, and then went back to sleep in the recliner.  That is where I was when my friend called.

I am reading a really good book on my Kindle.  I read some reviews and they all mentioned that it was a real page-turner, and it turns out that it is.   So, I will be continuing reading as I eat my breakfast.

Need to get something to eat.  It doesn't look too promising out my window this morning. However, the weatherman is calling for sunshine and the temperature up near 80º.

MaryAnn, good luck at the doctor's.  Hope you get some answers for your "bite problems".

Hope everyone will have a great Tuesday.

Good afternoon, it is breezy and rain tight now.  Later we could have gust as high as 73mi. per. according to paper, but it will be after dark. which I am not happy about.,  I have got my two lanterns out. Only the eastern part of Long Island will feel the blunt of the storm, not up west. Of course I still worry about my DIL on Cape Cod.

Jane, what time would you like the gang?  Do I need to bring and extra chair.  I hope Amy brings her jam, sound so good.

June, hope you made it to the meeting.

Hal, hope you like the new doctor.

Gloria, we Sandy we lost power for nearly a week.

Hope we hear from Joan soon. Prays going her way.

Good morning!

Just wanted to let you know I did hear from Shirley yesterday and we are not going to be able to get together this time.  Her oxygen level will not stay up in the altitude, so she thought it best to return home with Andy when he leaves tomorrow.  She was in a business trying to talk and was having a hard time hearing, so our conversation was short, but it appears she did not find the kitty. 😪

The trees are turning very quickly so I bet Shirley has enjoyed seeing that. We were looking forward to a drive up to see them so we could enjoy the colors as well.  I hope we can go sometime next week.

We are back at Brian's new home this morning.  Bob is helping him put more things together.  They just installed a 75" TV and it is something else.  I feel like I am in a movie theater.  He is playing a 4K underwater show that is just amazing.....I am under the sea!

MARYANN, it is strange that you have not seen any fleas, or what ever is biting you.  I hope you can figure it out.

GLORIA, just the thought of roaches is enough to make one uneasy.
On our news last night they showed a apartment complex that was over run with rats.  Seems the place is on a canal and the cut down a bunch of foliage and it stirred them up and forced them to relocate to the building......just a frightening thought!  I am frightened enough of house spiders..... let alone anything of that size.

LARRY, I am smiling at the thought of your granddaughter coming over to play Farkle with Pat.  It is a fun game. Enjoy your meal at the new place today.

I keep hoping to see Joan pop in one of these days.  I sure hope she continues to feel stronger so she can get back to her home.

I am so mesmerized by this Sea scape and the beautiful sounds that accompany it.  WOW!

I wish you all a good day.

Back from the meeting and greeting of new Leaders. Our new Chaplain was unable to join us as he was tied up in a previous engagement. I had met him previously though so it was O.K. with me.The new maintenance supervisor seems rather inexperienced for such a  tremendous job, but he has excellent people working for him, so I'm sure it will be fine. The new lady in charge of housekeeping seems very assured so time will tell.

Now it is time to go down for lunch..one of my favorite meals...baked potato stuffed with Chili and other goodies,so I will pig out, and probably bring half of it home for supper.

I hope to come home for a little nap then down again for balance and mobility class. God willing and I don't run our of steam.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Back from two stores with fixings for a cream cheese cranberry spread I put together for toasted bagels (which are 13 for $7 on Tuesdays).  The bagels will be in the freezer - they are sliced too.

We have been watching the Ken Burns Vietnam series.  I always said the beginning was with President Kennedy and most believe troops were only sent by Pres. Johnson - Ken Burns has answered the question and I was right.  I remember talking with Navy guys as they were being readied to go to Vietnam way before our country understood.  That whole period of history is such a sad story.

Jenny:  Sorry that Shirley had to come down from the hills - it looks glorious and I can see snow on the tops now.  Put on your life jacket while watching that sea show - you might want to take Dramamine too.

Gloria:  Taking "selfies" has gotten out of hand. Here, we heard that a woman carried her toddler right up too close to a bear but fortunately all are well.

Hal:  Here is a good reply to anyone commenting on missing church on occasion - we had a missionary live in mom and dad's home while growing up for almost a year.  He loved to hunt and when he took off one weekend, an auntie commented that ""SHE would never miss church"  His reply was:  "I take the Lord with me".  Just thought you might like that reply if anyone asks.

Being awake and up at 4 A.M. - just dragging now.

June:  Take care - I like the idea of having leftovers for dinner.

Jeanne Lee, I looked up Hannah Manderson on google, and found nothing that would associate the name with any of our people. So I think you are wise not to pursue it.

My short nap lasted too long, so I didn't get down for the exercise class. Took a walk and used a glider instead and soaked up some sunshine. Air was a bit cool so the sun was very welcome.

I brought half of my huge lunch home, so that will be supper pretty soon. No program that I intend to see tonight, so I'll put on early sleep clothes and just relax.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I found a John Manderson who is a photographer.  There were several entries, but there was no Hannah connected with any of them.  I'd wait, too.

Good morning everyone..

Still dark out here.. they say our temps are to go up for the remainder of the week. The thunderstorm the weather guessers called for didn't happen yesterday . I did manage to get pears that need to ripen, got a few odd jobs done then played in the sewing room finishing off another quilt top. Now I can move on to another one.
I can see today is going to be a muggy one.....a/c may go on later.

JeanneLee, that name doesn't sound familiar with me either.

Larry, I looked up recipes for pear honey , sounds interesting..

Hal, I also looked up pickled peaches that too sounds interesting.

Better get a move on, enjoy your day everyone.

Good moring AMY, LLOYD and EVERYFRIEND who drops by later.  We're waiting out Annie's pill time so when the "boinger" boings, we'll be having breakfast.

Later, I have to make a WM run for some kitchen stuff that I need and I've been forgetting.  Tomorrow is my grandson's birthday and my Son and DIL's anniversary.  Since my grandson is in Canada and he loves Amazon he's easy.  He gets and Amazon gift certificate and he can get what he wants.  And since I do the same for him as I do for his American cousins, his goes a bit further because of the exchange rate.

AMY, I'm always happy to hear that you still love you canner and that you are getting such good use of it.  It warms my heart that I was able to help!

I think I'll go do my crossword puzzle while I wait for the "boinger".  Make today your best ever.

Good morning,  Jane, Amy, Lloyd and all the other friends.

Nothing special going on here in my little neck of the woods.  Supposed to be another warm day with the temperature going into the 80's.  I will take that anytime.

Going to do a little bit of baking today.  My son had mentioned last week he was hungry for a peach cake.  Well, I do have some peaches, but I told him that I would make him something, but it won't be a peach cake.  I do have a good recipe for peach cake, but it takes yeast and I don't have that. So,, I did make up some pie crust and I will make him something.  He will stop by on his way home from work this evening.  I am thinking a couple mini-pies.

Jane, my youngest son has been giving me Amazon gift cards for gifts the last couple years.  And, I, too, love getting them.

I see the sun is trying hard to make an appearance, so, I will get on with the day.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone.

JOY, sending Amazon gift certificates to Daniel saves me a lot of money too.  I save on postage, customs, packaging etc.  And he's loved shopping for books ever since he learned to read at the age of 4.  It's probably the easiest gift I give all year.

Now I'm off to take my shower and get dressed.  I want to get to the store and back so I have time to do something and then rest and have a decent meal before I go to work at 3.  Have a good day Everyfriend!

Good MOrning Everyone!

Cloudy out this morning, but warm I am sure.  They keep saying "chance" for some rain, Ha!

My last free day with nothing happening for the rest of the week.  Then something everyday for the next two days.

Amy hope you try the pickled peaches, all those cloves and spices and the flavor is out of this world, in my mind, anyhow.  It has literally been 50 to 60 years since I have had one.  It brings back a lot of Christmas's of past of my childhood.  Those and some homemade wine (Mustang grape wine)(wild grapes).
Us kids always got a small glass on Christmas day with our dinner.

JaneS. I thought you gave up on working nights.

Everyone have a great day.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. The day started out overcast but the sky is now clear and sunny and we are headed to about 90 degrees again this afternoon with a 20% chance of some rain.  I got up this morning, showered and shaved and got partially dressed and laid back down with the head of the bed raised and read my email, devotionals and other readings I do each day.  I also read through all of the postings in the five discussions I follow each day. This seems to be becoming a habit as I am awake but not really ready to get up and start the day.  So it was about 8:15 before got out into the kitchen to start those duties.

The main activity for today will be going to the dinner at Church this evening and then we will stop by Walmart to pick up an online order.  Yesterday in the paper I read that starting tomorrow there is a delivery to home service that will be instituted for our area.  It will have a $5.95 charge or you could get a yearly membership.  While we don't need this service now the time may come when it will be needed so was really happy to see that the service will be available.

Yesterday Pat was able to find a new pair of shoes.  She is very hard to fit.  Following that we did go to the Honey on the Rock restaurant.  The meal was excellent and the surrounding very nice.  I was very impressed as a Bible  was on each table. I ended the meal with a big piece of pineapple chiffon pie that was delicious and Pat had their banana pudding.  We will definitely go back.  They offered a full or half portion meals, which was plenty of food for us and left space for the pie and banana pudding.

Mary Ann, I am surprised your doctor, being a pediatrician, sees adults.

Joy, my wife can sleep in her recliner, sometimes continuing to click her computer mouse.  For some reason I don't seem to be able to sleep except in bed.  I do lay down every afternoon, if I can, for a couple of hours and often take a nice nap.

Jenny, thank for the update on Shirley.  I am sorry to hear that she is going to have to cut her trip short due to her oxygen level not staying up.  She is wise not to try to stay in the camp ground when her son isn't there.  That sounds like quite a TV.  Our son has one of the new super 4K TV's with a sound bar and tells us about what a great picture he gets with it.  However, it isn't anywhere near that size as his living room is pretty small. We have a 60 inch TV that sits on the mantel over the fireplace that has the recessed space for the wires and electrical outlet.  It is becoming the norm now for our son, granddaughter and Pat to play Farkle when we get home on Wednesday nights plus our granddaughter has come over a couple of times in the evenings to play it with Pat.

June, I hope your new leaders will fit into your community well.  Do you have a full time Chaplain?

Carol, I haven't watched any of the Ken Burns Vietnam series but it does sound interesting.  I saw him and the co-producer of the series being interviewed a day or so ago.

Lloyd, always nice to have time to visit with good friends.

Amy, I urge you to make a little batch of pear honey as it is really delicious. Have you kept track of how many quilts you have made?

Jane, I also enjoy getting Amazon or other gift cards. It would throw my whole day off if I did my crossword puzzles in the morning.  :)

Joy, a peach cake or cobbler sure sounds good along with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.  The gift cards let us buy books or other items we might not otherwise do out of our monthly budgets. At least that is what it does for me.  For many years my folks gave family members checks for birthdays or Christmas and I always looked forward to getting the money.

Hal, hope you can enjoy your quiet day today and get rested up for the next two with appointments.

JaneS

Hello, I did a bit of "flitting" today.  There were some things I needed and kept forgetting so I made myself a list and I did them today.  Didn't forget anything....I think!

HAL, my "back to day" schedule begins after my vacation and I had to delay it for two weeks due to a couple of appointments that I had made for Wednesday mornings. So I'll be back to all days at the end of October.  Beginning the 28th of this month, I'm on vacation until mid-October so I'll have two more nights after this this week and next week.  I can do that if I see the end coming.

I think it's time for a meal now.  When I work at night, I like to eat a decent meal late lunch time.  Then I can wait to eat supper until I get home.  It puts the doggies off a bit but they manage.  I give them a little snack before I go.

Speaking of pear honey, I brought a jar of PRICKLY PEAR HONEY home from Arizona when we went to the Grand Canyon.  It was pretty good and I'm not a real fan of pears.  Don't know if regular pears would taste the same or not.

Hope everyfriend's day is going well.  Enjoy the rest of it.

Just waiting on the tea to steep then I am going to go sew after having a cup or two :)

Took the dogs to the lake and oh what fun we had. The Golden loves the water and right in she went and started to swim about, even going after fallen leaves floating on top of the water. The Border wasn't that impressed with the water but she did have a bath of sorts. I had the Golden almost dry and back in she went when I was reaching for another towel to dry her. So out be went again, the water was lovely and warm.

Tea time if anyone wants a cup.

I was pokey slow this morning, I think my starter got stuck. However, I did get down to Bible class today.  Jeff was our teacher..he is very good teacher, and next week will be my Gary.

Next on my agenda is lunch downstairs, then I will surely be ready for home again, book and nap. The days go by so quickly. If I didn't need so many naps I could get more involved, but the body makes the rules now, not me.

Larry, it will take some adjustment time for our new Supervisors, but I am confident they will do well. Everyone tries to help one another.Alejandro Perez, will be Maintenance supervisor...that is a "biggie job" for sure. Diane Schrader will be supervisor of the Housekeepers, and John Mosqueda will be Campus Pastor. He has his own Church too so it will be a stressful position for a while, I'm sure. Our former Chaplain is living here permanently with his wife, and he will be missed. But even being retired, I am sure he will still be available for listening and advising.

Janie, they sure keep you busy too girl. get as much rest as you can squeeze in, we want you well and healthy and happy.

my head is nodding so I had better get the body down for lunch.

Our oldest son stayed over last night as he came down from the mountains to make an early morning flight back east today.  Our middle son came to visit - they are all so much fun and happy it is fun to visit.  I am a bit worn today as tomorrow is a free house cleaning for me and I keep working on getting things put away and ready.  Sewing was put away even though I won't let them in that room.  This is free because a couple we know are getting out of corporate life and starting a house-cleaning company and she is training some on the job.  I asked to make lunch or at least some treats - she told me thanks but no.  All new to me.

Working on non-working electronics all day and Comcast had cut some big cables so someone goofed again at our expense.  They did admit it!

Joy:  Peach anything, thank you.

Jane:  Prickly pear syrup - I buy medium size bottles for neighbor gifts - so good, so pricey.

Amy:  Our nights are cooler here so the water isn't very warm - they are plowing snow on a peak, called Cameron Pass.  Not much but it is beginning.

Terrible news on Puerteo Rico's hurricane damage. I hope no one has been hurt in this storm.  And the pictures of Mexico City are devastating.
