Hi everyone. Another sunny morning and again headed into the low 90's on this first day of Fall.  We do have a 40% chance of some isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. This is the day for our housekeeper to be here and I anticipate we will go out for our big meal today around noon as we usually do on housecleaning day.  Yesterday Pat made a Mexican soup and this morning some brownies and we are taking some of each over to a member of our Sunday School class who is laid up with a cracked hip and has been ordered to keep all weight off of it for a couple of months in hopes it will heal.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Our granddaughter came over again yesterday afternoon and fixed sloppy Joe's for our dinner last night.  She and Pat got in a few games of Farkle as well. So far this morning I am feeling much less tired than I have all week for which I am grateful.

Hal, glad to see you liked your new primary care doctor and that he gave you all the time you needed to talk with him.

Joy, you sound like Pat in that you don't wake up ready to take on the world.  She generally gets off to a slow start in the morning.  I am just the opposite in that usually, unless dealing with weariness, I wake up ready to take on the day.  Your son knows what is important and wasn't going to pass up that peach pie.  :) I have always liked chocolate ice cream with peaches.  Of course, I just generally like ice cream.  This is really the first time in our lives we have had a relationship with our granddaughter and we are enjoying it and that she wants to spend time with us.  I also prefer jam and preserves to jelly as it doesn't want to fall of the bread as jelly sometimes does.

Carol, when we hire a housekeeper it gives someone a job.  We have always paid our housekeepers around $15 per hour and a little extra if we ask the person to do extra things.  Glad to see your first experience with the housekeepers was positive. I thought you would appreciate the experience and hope you will allow yourself this little luxury.  It will give you more time for your quilting.  :) You sounds like a very loving and caring person.  Apparently freezing pipes is not much of a concern around here.  I do think we probably have drain back faucets.

Sandy, I am still amazed that you did your across country trek as you did and lived in your van.  You had planned well before you started. When I think about having to drive around in unknown areas before the days of GPS I wonder how we did it.  Now I seem to get very stressed by not knowing exactly where I am going so often use the GPS even to places I have been sometime ago.  I guess the memory isn't what it used to be.  Glad you are happy with where you live. Sandy, interesting that you have brick sidewalks.  Is that a common thing in Maine?

Jane, families certainly don't live like they used to.  My mother had a large family and we had many yearly visits from aunts and uncles.  Since we lived on the farm it was very difficult for us to get away for more than a short day trip as always had to get home in time to do the evening milking.  My mother's family always had yearly family reunions.  We also had customs around holiday that we could always depend on.  Glad your got your bushes trimmed and your gasoline gift card sounds like a nice gift although I bet he doesn't want or expect anything as he was just being a good neighbor and friend.

Gloria, glad the exterminators have finished with your apartment.  Glad you haven't had any bugs. I am glad your health insurance is keeping close tabs on you.  I guess they have found it is cheaper to keep us as healthy as possible rather than the cost associated with treating us when we aren't so healthy.

Mary Ann, you sounds like the type of person anyone would want in their family gatherings.  I think it is the sense of family that keeps us all posting here.  We have lived away from extended family for so long that you all and our Church friends and may Al-Anon friends serve as my family.  With Scott and Jennifer close by our immediate family is now closer than it has been for many years.

Jenny, your family is really busy with many different activities. It is a real achievement when a young man can become and Eagle Scout. He is really young to have accomplished so much in Scouting already. Is Mark going to have responsibilities for food service at his new job?  I guess I thought a golf pro at a club dealt with teaching and probably the tournaments but didn't realize the food service area.

Shirley, glad to see you are safely home and it sounds like this was a pretty stressful trip for you. You were wise to take the oxygen measurement device with you.  Glad you have been able to find peace with the lose of your cat in the mountains.  You have certainly done all you can do.

Amy, fighting for material isn't a nice thing to do!  :)  I know you said you avoided the crowds by getting their early so that is wise.  I just had to tease you a little bit.

Lloyd, good that you are leaving the honey to sustain your bees during the winter.  Hopefully they will make a lot of honey and you will have an abundance next season.

Sandy

Good Morning from the very cool
and overcast rocky coast of Maine.

Regarding the sidewalks...   It is very common here in the
North East to put down brick side walks...  (Like the olden days!)
But they can be very hard to negotiate once they start to
fail.    They are very nice when they are new and they are easy
to fix should  a couple come a part...  But when they are old
and been through a few North East Winters,  they can
be very treacherous for  those of us who have a problem with
vision or walking or any disability.

I have been watching them all morning right out side my
window.   In fact I had to put on  my AC because of the dust
flying around.

I am in awe of the people  (men and women) who run those
big machines that move all the heavy stuff around.
They really know what they are doing and I just sit and
watch them work.    They are true artists when it comes
to moving the earth and re arranging the earth!!!

Again regarding the brick sidewalks....   yes we have them all
over the city of Portland...    this new work will make them
easier for me to traverse when the snow and ice come ..
(although I only go a short distance then.

My adventuresome days are over when it comes
to  walking through snow and ice!

Have a good day everyone.
Shirley .. glad to see that you are home and safe for
now.

Sandy

Well, we cannot go back to the Waltons.  I know why I was so happy to visit cousins in Minnesota - they do care for each other and see each other often.  Miss that so much.  Our two youngest sons live near us and they have always been close since they shared a bedroom for years - we would hear them say "good night" and smile.

Shirley:  You were fortunate to get back to a lower level without health problems.  So sorry you had that blinding sun drive plus the altitude problems.  Both Don and I have been tired every afternoon since coming back from Minnesota and we get this way when returning from Arizona as well.  He feels much better at lower altitude.  Sorry about your not finding LaurenKat.  You take beautiful care of animals.

Jane:  Good idea to take the morning off - take care.

Gloria:  Yes to all the questions on cleaning.  I could get used to this pampering and hope to do this about 3 times a year maybe.

Amy:  I need to add some width to the latest quilt.  Looking at it - I am not feeling that it is  as nice looking as I thought it would be - must still finish it though.  Crum bum -

Sandy:  I just read your note - my neighbor fell on ice on Easter week and just had her elbow, arm, hand surgery two weeks ago.  It is so dangerous for us - have you ever seen something like metal pointy things you put on boots?  Not kidding, I have thought about it since our driveway is north facing and really dangerous for us.  --Otherwise, the brick walks are perfect for your traditional look.

Sandy

Carol.... Yes,  LL Bean sells those
"pointy things" that slip over ones shoes,   And I would
get them except,  I only go out in the snow/or ice
so rarely,  only walk where it is safe  (these days) ..

I fear falling so much now that I have broken two
arms...   My right arm has healed but it still
feels like it is not like it used to be.  Much weaker
with some range limitation.

I have to wear a wrist brace and can't imagine going with
out one now (for fear of re breaking it)...

Because I am on blood thinners   and have AFib,
I choose to forego surgery which "might"
have made  it better.      I can use it and do
anything I need to with it,  but it is not the same
ole arm that I once had.

I am OK...    :coolsmiley:
and grateful that I did not break more bones.

This has been an "interesting" morning.

First, the cable went off completely, including the internet.  Only for a couple  minutes, then after 5 minutes off again for about 10 minutes.

A half hour later, the power went off - first for just a few seconds, then for about 45 minutes.  Thank God for those tall cans of auxiliary oxygen, and I was able to hook up to one very easily.  The only other problem with no power, at least in summer, is no water.  You can imagine what that could mean with an extended outage.  But at this point, all is well. Thank God

Hello, Everyfriend,

My goodness, so many new concerns among us!

JaneS,  I'm so glad you were able to get in to see your doctor quickly after such a rough night.  I surely do hope he has a solution.

Shirley:   we moved to Leadville when #1 son was 2.   The year he was 15, we flew to Washington D.C. for Spring Break and the trip home took 6 hours from sea level to 10,200 feet.  That night, he sounded as if he was coming down with pneumonia and was put in the local hospital.  Diagnosis:   Pulmonary Edema (a/k/a Altitude Sickness).  The area around his lungs had filled with fluid.  He was given a diuretic via IV and was o.k. the next day.
When he went for his athletic physical after we moved here, the doctor had heard of the condition but son was the first one he'd ever known who had it.
So -any time we went back to Colorado and would be above 8,000 feet altitude, he had to take a water pill the day we left, the day we got there and the next day.
Fortunately, he outgrew the problem but he still has to be aware of the possibility.

Jeanne Lee,  from what friends on oxygen here say, it's scary when the power goes out for any length of time.  Glad you have the auxiliary cans.
My cable has suddenly gone out several times recently.  Then it shows a screen that looks as if something is reloading.....and comes back on.   The name of the cable company (Cox) isn't on the reloading screen.  Weird.

Larry,  we used to play Farkle with Amarillo friends.  I still have a set and think I'll suggest it when the family is together.   They all like table games and we usually play Mexican Train dominoes when they're here.  They've tried to teach me Texas Hold 'Em poker but I can never remember which hand is higher than another.

Hot and muggy here.   While I was out doing errands this morning, I stopped at Home Depot to get mums for the "pot garden".  However, either I'll have to set the alarm really early or the evenings will have to get cooler before I put them in.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable "First Full Day of Autumn".

Carol

Sandy:  I know you will be careful outdoors - it is a concern anytime and more so in winter weather.  --- your little pumpkin has two new teeth!  Cute!

Jeanne Lee;  Here, Comcast cut the wrong cables - there is no update on that news.

Callie:  It is a good thing your son is aware of his altitude condition.  My dad did not like it when we lived at abut 7,000 feet.  You do know that the words "pot garden" mean something else around here, don't you?  Yet another pot filled wrong-way driver on the road was stopped this week.

I met a woman named Stella in WM an hour ago - she is from Puerto Rico and has a lot of family in stress - of course.  Such a massive problem.  She told me right away (I know this) that they are part of the US and need our help.  They are expecting even more rain while streets are still flooded - I cannot imagine.

Denver

LARRY, food service is only required if you want to become a general manager of a golf club.  As director of golf, at his job he just left, Mark did teach a lot, but he also was in charge of the club house sales as well as over all of the outdoor stuff.  I think each club is different, to be honest.  At this new job he will not be able to teach as they have their own golf academy.

JANE, sorry you had a rough night and were not able to take your shift this morning.  Hope you are feeling better and that the doctor is able to help you out.

Carol,  oh, yes,  I'm well aware that "pot garden" can have more than one meaning.   :winkie:  I think you're the only one who has "called me" on it.
There are many reasons I'm glad we no longer live in Colorado.  That is one of them.

It amazes me that we had lived in Leadville for 12 years and traveling had never affected my son until we went from sea level to that altitude in a few hours.
Might have made a difference if we had spent the night in Denver before driving on to Leadville but it never occurred to us that could be a problem.

Jeanne Lee all the outages you had makes me think back to yeastier years.
Neither Nancy or I had even running water. we and a outside toilet, ours was a two holler, hers was a single. she never had electricity until after her and her brother graduated from high school, they went to gather and had it installed for her folks.  and after her and I were married we were in a ice storm out of power for ten days once. we both heated with wood. when our youngest girl was born.she started breathing normal before birth and they had to take her c sector. one lung was full and the other was about 1/2 full. the nurse came down to weighting room and got me and took me up to the operating room, putting those scrubs on me on the go,even put booties on my shoos. said put your hands in your pockets and keep them there we had no gloves I could get for you. said we want you to see this baby alive may be last chance. they had two big needles in her chest sucking the fluid out of her lunges. she was born a scrapper and still is.
and spent ten days in incubator. she was fifteen days old when released. I never got to hold here until we got home, those nurses would not even carrier her to the car. while she was in hospital I put a bathroom in for to come home to, was nice for us all also. Have a good day.

My apologies for being a non-contributor today. Woke up tired and stayed that way all day...lots of naps, reading, and more naps.

Janie, I pray that your day improved as time went by.

Hal, sounds like you hit the Jack Pot with your new doctor. I wish you continued success.

Carol, your Mn. relatives sound like mine..family is everything  to them.

I have been home all day, so will go down and check my mail box and then back home to take a long shower and hopefully it will liven me up.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

Well I got the procedure done and was home by 1 PM and wobbly.  Didn't stop me from stopping on way home and getting some breakfast, I was so hungry.  Other than being a little sore I have no ill effects.

I had to laugh as well as my son-in-law, two nurses came in to start preping me.  One to start my IV and the other to take vital signs.  Problem: don't start an IV while other nurse is taking blood pressure.... :uglystupid2: ;D  You don't exactly get a true reading.

Anyhow they got me all ready and then promptly left me in the room for about 45 minutes but the procedure went pretty fast, I think, all I remember is being wheeled in and told to scoot down so my head was further into the hole, face down, I said something to the the affect that I could see the floor and it looked clean and that was all until I woke up back in my room with the nurse taking my BP and removing my IV and giving me some juice, was it good, the juice.  Guess I will find out how I feel in the morning.

Boy did we get a nice rain shower yesterday afternoon, must have been at least a half or three quarters of an inch.  It rained hard for half an hour.  Beautiful.

Janie, I hope you are feeling better.  I know you must have been sick to miss work, just no like you to take off unless you are sick.

Amy did you get lots of goodies?  Or so much you couldn't make up your mind.  ;)

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Oh, Sandy, back in my home town, during the depression years they built many streets, sidewalks and even a highway from bricks.  We had a large brickyard in our hometown.  The re-built that highway in the 50's but then asphalt it over when they make the highway four lanes.  The bricks are still there under the asphalt.

Mary Ann

Hal and Sandy, we have a couple streets of cobblestone which the city has kept.  I think the people like them and they're "history".  Both streets are short and are not main roads.

Mary Ann

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Boy! Did I sleep last night!  I went to bed around 9:45 and I got up once during the night to answer Nature's call and went right back to sleep until 6 this morning.  I think just knowing what was wrong was a relief.

It seems that my blood pressure is up.  I've dealt with this before without medications and I'll do it again.  The first thing will be a trip to the store for some of the things on my list from the Naturopath.  I've been neglecting that list ever since the tooth extractions because it's so hard to chew and a lot of the stuff is nuts and raw veggies.  But it's healing and I can chew on the other side so back to the diet and regular checks.  This was responsible for the dizziness.  The other was probably something I ate and if it doesn't happen again soon that's what I'm going to believe.

Today, I'm planning to make salsa.  Everyone expects it for Christmas and I like it too.  Wonder if all those spices are on my diet!  And sometime soon, I have to make more of Amy's Hot Mustard.  I'm half-way through my last jar and my daughter took a jar home with her the last time she was here.  I haven't heard if her husband liked it but she had some while she was here and she loved it.  Another good Christmas present.

We're waiting out Annie's pill right now.  I think we might be about half way!  Our night time temps were down in the low 50s but low 80s are predicted by early afternoon.  I think I'll try to get the canning done this morning.

I wish you all a "rosy" day!  Make it your own!

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Today is going to be another hot one and I need to do pears down.
We had a good time yesterday,we were the first ones in the store and got our fabric before the crowds came and they did as we were leaving. Now to get busy and make more quilts!

Joy, I could almost taste that peach pie! I find quilting relaxing, that is until I have a date with Jack,,aka the stitch ripper.

Larry, I have been going to their twice yearly sale for 7 years now plus I shop there when I am in the area. The store is owned by the nicest people and she quilts so knows what to bring in.

Hal, I see they made you into a lawn sprinkler with needle pokes. Hope you feel a lot better today after your procedure yesterday.

Carol, maybe once you have the side borders on the quilt will take on a new look and you will like it better. I know that has happened to me.

Gloria, I am also waiting for the cooler weather, this 90 ° weather is not nice. Poor dogs don't care for the heat either. Right now it is 53° and I have the windows open and the ceiling fan going but imagine once I start canning pears the a/c will go on.

Lloyd, that was nice of you to surprise Nancy with the indoor plumbing. I hope to see my honey man this Fri and get some  honey.

Jane, I hope you are feeling a lot better today and I was happy to read you went to the Dr.

Sandy, I have those "pointy" things to wear on my shoes and wished I had them on one winter when I spread the bird seed on the drive way while looking up at the sky. I must remember to use them this winter.

Gosh I had better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone. it is 69º clear and going for 87º today. half of the night slept good and the other half Nancy went to dreaming and tossing and turning, so and there went good rest. she kept saying Honey, I asked her what she was dreaming about. she said she did not know, so I do not know if I am on good tithes or in trouble?

AMY if the person you buy your honey from has his bees in your area your honey will help you with allergy's.  Have a great day and enjoy your quilting.
I am same as you in my wood shop work there is relaxing. I like to build recipe  boxes with 1/8 th finger joint in the corners and the lid taller in front than the back polished hinges and lid stop. five grain wheat head pattern engraved on the front and other birds pictures on the ends. most the size that holds the 4x6 cards. I built Nancy one that is twice as long.and she has it stuffed full of cards. and she uses them why is so hard for me to loose weight.

Lloyd

Joy

Good morning to all the early friends.

Jane, I am so happy to read that you are feeling a lot better this morning.   Your message yesterday morning was a little scary, so glad you went to the doctor's and that you had such a good night.

It is another pretty sunny morning out my window this morning.  Nothing special for today, except for doing some laundry.  I thought I had a new bottle of laundry detergent, but didn't, so my son stopped yesterday and will bring me a bottle of  detergent this morning.  Since I live in a senior housing complex,  I like to wait until late in the afternoon to do my laundry. There are two machines, but one is a front loader, which I really don't like.  It seems everyone on my floor do their laundry in the morning, so by waiting till later, I usually have the whole room to myself.  Not a job I particularly like to do, but something that must be done, sooner or later.  LOL

Lots of things going on this week end, so I am happy that the weather is cooperating.  Next Saturday,  my son and DIL have their annual family/ friends Fall get together.  The long range forecast is for another nice weekend, so hopefully that will hold true.  It is always nice to be able to see family and friends who I don't get to see very often.  Lots of good food and fun.

I have finished my breakfast and just need to get on with my day.

Hope will have a wonderful Saturday.

Good Morning Everyone!

I had a pretty good nights sleep until about 5 and then awake off and on until 7 and I got up then.  Back is still a little sore but no real pain like I had been having.

Janie, good news from you.  Hope the diet helps and solves the problem.  Save me some Salsa, love that stuff, eat it as a dip with chips.  And like it on hotdogs and about everything else, but buy the Pace's or store brand.

Amy do you use the powdered mustard?  And do you add "stuff"?  Janies conversation with you tweaked my curiosity.

My girls are still here from Del Rio, they along with their older sister, who lives around the corner, her daughters and of course the Matriarch of the family, my wife, Mom and Grandmom, all went out for a girls dinner last night. Been awhile since they have done that.

Hope everyone has a great day.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. It looks like we will have a mostly sunny day today getting up to around 90 degrees this afternoon with no chance of rain.  Yesterday afternoon we had a lot of thunder and severe thunderstorm warnings but ended up getting no rain.

I awoke at 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.  I laid there for about 90 minutes and then decided to get up and get my day started.  I expect today to be a pretty quiet one.  I do plan on going to my weekly meeting around 10:30 this morning and that will likely be it.  Yesterday morning we took the soup and dessert Pat had prepared to our friend from Church that I mentioned yesterday and we had a nice visit with her for 30-45 minutes.  Then we went from there to the BBQ Barn and had a big main meal for the day and so we didn't have to mess up the kitchen on housecleaning day.  By the time we got home it was almost 2 pm and I laid down to rest for a couple of hours and then had a quiet rest of the day.

Sandy, thanks for the information on the brick sidewalks.  Glad your area will be easier for you in winter with the new walkways.

Carol, unfortunately when we became so much a mobile society and having to move for job promotions or just to new jobs it really did a number of family unity.  One reason we didn't remain in Alaska was we were so far away from our families and that our children would never be able to know their grandparents.

Callie, we used to play Mexican Train with two other couples from our Church who we ate out with a lot and then would go back to one of our homes and play games.  It was a lot of fun.  I have never been a poker player either.  One time I tried and lost $5 in a very short period of time and decided I worked to hard for my money to lose it and have never played again.

Carol, I depend on Comcast for our wi-fi in the house but now with the data plan on the phone I am still not cut off from the world if I lose the cable.  However, we have really had very reliable service except with power outages, which we also don't have often.  We use Dish for our television service and it is very reliable although the signal can be interrupted when it is raining hard.  That is when we can watch a recorded program.

Jenny, what will Mark be doing in his new job?  Will he have time to play a lot of golf?

Lloyd, what a frightening experience you had with the birth of your first child.  So glad she did survive.  I also grew up on a Missouri farm without the conveniences of inside plumbing.  I didn't have a room of my own until I was about 19 when my dad built on two bedrooms on our house and added a bathroom.  It was just the way it was. I have never missed a meal because of the lack of food nor not had a place to live and know I have been very blessed.

June, I hope today finds you feeling less tired.  I can relate to that waking up feeling exhausted feeling as seem to be experiencing often these days.

Hal, glad that procedure is now completed for you and good to read that you awoke today with only a little pain, which must be a great relief.

Jane, glad you had a good night's rest and think you must be feeling a lot better if you are going to tackle more canning.  I am sure your canned items as Christmas gifts are greatly appreciated and enjoyed much more than something you would buy at the store.  These things contain your love of family and friends.

Amy, I thought that the stitch ripper was a normal part of the quilting process.  I have seen Pat use it a lot.  A lot of the quilt shops where we used to live closed although Pat always seemed to be able to find others.  She hasn't been up to going to quilt shops since we moved here.  However, since she found out about the Missouri Quilt company and a couple of other sites available on the Internet she has good sources for shopping for fabric.

Joy, do you stay in the laundry room while you are doing the laundry or just check back when the time has elapsed?

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone, from the sunny and
warm,  rocky coast of Maine.

It is going on  9 ( AM EST ) here and there are no signs of the
"Street Doctors".. .    YET

I was hoping that they would come and finish up this
weekend,  but maybe not.   I know that they do have a tremendous
amount of work to do before the weather turns to "Winter Like"...
But,  maybe not this weekend.

All is welll here.

As a stroke survivor,  I never mess with high blood pressure.
I take my meds, as prescribed.    For me,  there is no second guessing
blood pressure, as sadly one can go for years with out
any out side apparent effects from it.

But that is only my story...
I hope that no one else has a similar one.
I am doing great these days...   But know
that I am going to really start missing the bright
sunshine days....  starting soon!!!

Have a good day,  everyone ...

Gloria

Good morning everyone. We had a bit of excitement here last night. The lights went out. Ilooked outside and couild see only 2 lamp lights on and one light on the porch. A few of the residents went outside but not me, I was not about ready to try 2 flights of stairs.  The hall lights were on so I opened my door. Thought I would let some light in here. I heard voices so went out into the hall and down toward the elevator. People standing in the hall  or in their doorways. No one tried the elevator to see if it was working, no one wanted to get stuck if it started down and stopped. We could hear the fire trucks and sirens  and we wondered what was going on. Lasted about an hour and the lights were on again. Just found out it was a blown transformer.
Looks like Jose has finally decided to leave and we might see some sun before the day is over. Next week we are supposed to be in the 80's. Suposed to be autumn now, now summer.

LARRY  I am really surprised with the insurance I have now and all they do. Even when I worked at Tupperware we had great insurance but this one is even better.

CAROL  I would love to wash the walls in here like I used to. Been here over 3 years and these walls have not been washed since I moved in. I used to do that every spring and they always looked better after the winter grime was gone. The help I get cannot do things like that and I can no longer do it either.

JEANNE  glad you had that oxygen you could use.

CALLIE  I have Cox cable too and was surprised it came back on with no problens after we lost power last night. What color Mums did you get? When we had our house I had a lot of mums all different colors. Love them.

LLOYD  you would have fit right in with the pioneers of 100 years and more ago. You and Nancy lived through some hard times.

JANE  glad you are feeling better.

AMY  I often wonder how my Mother did canning in the hot weather. No fans back then even. She had a big old cast iron stove that use oil for heat/cooking.

JOY  we have 3 washers and 1 front load washer and 4 driers on the main floor. There are 53 apartments but except for 3 people who wait till all their clothes need washing and use all the washers there had been no problem getting a washer or drier.

HAL  glad your back is not painful today. Wish I couold say the same.

Goodness, just looked at the time, past time I should get dressed and get going.

Good Morning,

Hal,  looks as if there are two OK/TX  school football games today.  Wanna double up on our "wager"?

Gloria,  There will be yellow mums in the three bright blue ceramic planters in the back yard, as well as in two "goldish-brown" ceramic planters in the front flower bed -  and red ones in three smaller pots on the patio -

Bronze ones make "hats" in two small pots that look like jack-o-lanterns.  One will be in front of a Fall garden flag that's between the two front yard planters and the other one with the pots on the patio.

Sounds like a lot of work but I don't have to bend to do the work and spread things out over several days .

Sandy and Jane,  I "inherited the tendency" for high blood pressure from my mother.  Have been on meds for at least 40 years and still have a higher reading than what's considered "normal".  There are a couple of annoying side effects but they're manageable and, so far, I've not had any issues directly connected with the problem.   I'm not about to over-analyze and try to treat myself!

After a very productive day yesterday,  I'm being "leisurely" today.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, we are on for both games.  I'm watching the TT, Houston game right now.

Did you all see that Mexico got hit with another big earthquake?   :'(

Callie, we are on for both games.

P.S. to my previous post re: my high blood pressure.

When I began teaching, I had to have a physical every year before school started.  The first two were normal but the third one indicated high blood pressure.  After further examination, it was diagnosed as "the safety valve on my pressure cooker".
This was a year after I got married!!      ;D
(Guess I adjusted because I had no more problems with it until "the aging process" began)

Carol

I am listening to favorite group - Il Divo (tenors from several countries).  I just told ALEXA (the snoopy Alexa) to play random music and this time "she" listened to me.  Do enjoy listening to my morning radio station through her as well but I know we are being tracked at the same time.  ...

Jenny;  I will try to send you a PM or maybe I have your email.

Today is pill set-up day as we organize several weeks of our pills ahead of time.  It makes it easier to remember if I know what day of the week it is at the moment.  I just finished sewing the cuffs for a pair of slacks - only do this for wonderful neighbors.  Black thread on dark navy/black slacks - it wasn't easy.  I did not get an A in 9th. grade sewing class because the the back of the pedal pushers I sewed split in the behind when I wore them roller skating and had to hang a jacket around my waist to continue skating.  Yep, true story.

Lloyd:  We know exactly what happened to your baby - it is called spontaneous pneumo thorax.  Spelled wrong.  You have a miracle child and so do we - ours happened in Denver and the miracle is a specialist from New York was walking through the corridor and he and my doc (chief of pediatrics) found the problem with baby's breathing and poked a needle through the chest to let excess air escape. It was the medical case of the year!

Gloria:  The cleaning gals had tall poles for dusting up high - I think a person could put damp cloths on it.  Really, who notices?

Carol, I was watching the golf match from Atlanta yesterday and one of the golfers did not pick up his ball from the hole.  The announcers commented on it, then showed a picture of him picking up his ball previously and he had a tear in the seat of his pants.  It really wasn't a bad tear, a three-cornered tear, but I am sure he did not want to make the hole larger.

Mary Ann:  Poor guy being right on television and mobs of people watching.   ;D

Mary Ann

Carol, it was only a small tear, about 1 1/2" in each direction, but I'm sure if he continued to lean over, the tear would have increased.  He knew what he wasn't doing!

Amy

Pears are done, laundry in off the line and I did get a wee bit of sewing plus I said hello to Jack :(

Hal, sent you a pm...

Lloyd, thankfully I am not allergic to anything.

Temp is 86 ° at the moment, no let up  either for the next few days.

I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.

Carol.  Wish I could find cleaners like yours. Gotten that I don't like housecleaning or even able to keep it up anymore. My walls really need doing along with all the polishing. I know dust is up high.  Just hard to find around here.
