The old man had died.  A wonderful funeral was in progress and the country preacher talked at length of the good traits of the deceased, what an honest man he was, and what a loving husband and kind father he was.

Finally, the widow leaned over and whispered to one of her children,
"Go up there and take a look in the coffin and see if that's your pa in there."

Again, Lloyd has sent us an interesting photo.

He wants to  show us a couple of the zucchini he grew, but get a load of the beautiful handmade table cloth!

WOW, that table cloth is beautiful.  So is the squash.

Amy

I will second that WOW!! What a beautiful tablecloth.....an heirloom for sure. Nice zucchinis too Lloyd..

Shirley ,yes it is the powdered mustard but you have to make sure it is the pure one. I bought mustard powder at a bulk store and it wasn't pure and had to throw out my work.

Hal, this mustard will do that to you. Just need a light spread of it  or just a teaspoon in a potato or macaroni salad..but it is so good. I don't care for the yellow mustard in the stores.....just like this one now.

Nice sunny day.

JeanneLee, thanks for putting in the beautiful graphic

Hal also thank you, i did order that pulse oximeter.

Shirley, that is the 3rd. time I have used my panic button. I also have a place on the monitor that I can press for a nurse, if it is not and emergency

Larry, the crock pot and the micro wave are great inventions for someone like me.

Lloyd, good looking zucchini, they look good enough to eat.

As others have said, the table cloth is beautiful.  I have always loved the pineapple pattern and made a large doily in that pattern, but I would never have had the patience to crochet a table cloth.

It is just barely, still morning here on the left coast. Please forgive my late-ness. I did go down for our monthly Association meeting and enjoyed it very much. Over six thousand dollars was raised this year in donations from the residents to assist our young workers here that are still going to college.  I'm proud of us !

Next on my agenda is lunch downstairs. I have been eating at home too many days..I don't want to miss out on what I'm paying for. And then I will come home, pick up my lap to and get down for the class. I really do need "learnin'".

God willing...I will get things done. be back later.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

I'm home; had lunch; gave the doggies a snack and sent them out.  Then I checked my email and ended up here but before I began to read, I put my 'maters on to warm up and put the jars in the canner to sterilize.  I have the lids and rings all rounded up and when everything is ready, I'm ready!  I sure hope that all happens at the same time!

Amy, you didn't say anything special about the mustard powder and I just bought the organic kind in the spice aisle at the grocery store.  Now I'll have to open one of those jars to see if it's up to par.  Not sure how I'll judge "par" since I never made it before and I never ate any made at home before.  I suppose if I like it that's all that really matters.

Callie, I'm so sorry about your group.  We are in the process of losing one of our high school class members.  Roger has always been there for anyone who needs help and he always comes to our little gatherings.  I don't think we even realize how much we've come to love the people who are a part of our lives until they are gone....or in Roger's case, going!

PLEASE, EVERYFRIEND....Take good care of yourselves!

Jane, sending you a photo of the mustard powder I use....... I didn't realize that there was more than one...the one I bought at the bulk food store had flour in it so it would weigh up. I was not impressed with that!! Now I am curious on how your mustard will taste..

Gloria

Good morning everyone, might take me all day to finish this. Yesterday was the early day for my CNA-9:30. They are mostly here around noon time.
Last week when I had u check up my NP was concerned about mu BP. Last few readings it has been low. She had a nurse come Saturday AM to check it. She checked it and looked at my meds and took one and cut them in half. OK. yesterday another nurse at 11:30 to check it again, still about the same. It will take awhile for the half a pill to work. Yesterday afternoon a coordinator from my insurance was here checking to see if every thing was OK and if I needed anything. Needless to say I was worn out by the end of the day. I hated getting out of bed this morning but made my coffee and now sitting here. Coffee tastes terrible so will go pour it out..........

HAL  we yankees know we are on the right coast. Look at a world map and north America, the Atlantic is on the right. So there. Like you I throw away most of the mail I get. My NP said she will check on getting me PT to come to my home. She knows how hard it is for me to get out.

Goodness just had the nurs here  again, this one comes every few months to check on how the CNA's are doing. Feels like I am getting a swinging door.

AMY  after a few wonderful days of temperatures the heat is coming back but the humidity has not gone up too much yet. The lady I knew who made her mustard would warn everyone about using too much but I loved it, just enough bite to it, wonderful on a ham sandwich.

JUNE  I find I am always trying to straighten my back.

LLOYD  there is a program some use for videos but I cannot remember the name. I used it before, easy and free.

Hours later--my CNA made me a meatloaf today, it is now in the oven. My oldest son stopped by with a bag of peaches he just picked. An orchard in Conn. I had one and so tasty and juicy. Been ages since I had a fresh picked peach.

JANE  does the mustard recipe use the powdered mustard?

GLORIA de  today is the warmest one this week. I did go out with my CNA when she left but did not stay out long. No walk and only 10 minutes on the porch. Friday and
Saturday it did feel like October here. I enjoyed that.

AMY  I am with you in hoping we hear from or about JOAN. It is a worry that it has been to long since we last heard. My daughter makes zucchini relish too. She even sent me a small jar of it and it was very tasty.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for the new page and another beautiful graphic by PHYLLIS.

LLOYD  good looking zucchini and a beautiful hand crocheted tablecloth in the pineapple pattern. Like those chairs, beautiful backs.

Took me all day to do this post and now it is almost time for Skype and my daughter.

Ohhh Jane, if your eyes water, your nose runs and smoke comes out your ears, you have the right mustard .. :2funny:

Amy, the Asian mustard, when I use too much, burns my nose and the sinuses all the way across your face.  But it is so good with sesame chicken.  Also with baked ham.

Shirley

Jane, when we were told by our high school buddy that he had been diagnosed with 6 months to live, one special friend living in the same town contacted us to see if we wouldn't like to have a party instead of funeral. Think most of us had misgivings but went along with the idea.  Had a phone call from the honoree just last week, he is still lucid and was grateful for the party, months past his time limit but he knows he is loved.  The doctors changed his diagnosis, he has lost strength from being in bed & wheel chair for so long, but is not at all bitter about his life, thankful for the care he receives. Hope your friend finds this kind of peace, it is a blessing for the individual as well as everyone that cares for them.

I have 2 different brands of dry mustard, can't tell the difference when I use it in the coleslaw.  Never thought about using it for anything else.  Speaking about eyes watering & smoke coming out the ears, my father used to love grinding horse radish and would be carrying on about how good it tasted, sweat dripping from his face.  I never tasted but do love a little in ketchup.

Gloria, glad your nurse cut the pill in half, I think it really shocks the body if we cut out anything too fast..  I usually take half the pill for a week and quarter of it the 2nd week.  I am really bad about doing my own thing but so far do better than "what's normal".

Lloyd, your zucchini looks good but am so happy you showed Nancy's beautiful table cloth!  My MIL made us a bedspread when we were married.  Since I can't do anything like it I treated it like my prized possession.  It has been passed on to my daughter to cherish and save for the next generation.  Sadly, all the smaller pieces she gave us for tables got burn holes in them when my husband smoked & would let his cigarette roll off the ash tray.  She never gave any to her only 3 grandchildren after they married, but she did make each of them a quilt.

Hal, my youngest son had such a severe reaction to sesame when he was in Houston the dermatologist he went to ran the test & he is supposed to carry 2 epipens.  I never realized so many recipes/foods used sesame seed.

Thanks for taking care of us, Jeanne Lee!  Like the funny.

I have had the a/c off, the ceiling fans going and the windows open all day long!   Sooooo nice to get the house aired out.  Plus - there was almost an inch of water in the rain gauges in the flower beds.    ;D

Lloyd,  the tablecloth is beautiful and the zucchini look tasty.   I bought three small ones last week and found a recipe on-line for baked zucchini chips.  Very tasty and easy to do.  Still tasty when reheated but not crisp.

My Bridge friend went from the hospital to a rehab facility on Monday.  She's doing very well and will have speech therapy for at least two weeks.

You may divide my share of the hot mustard among yourselves.    :D

JaneS

I have 7 quarts of tomatoes i the canner and enough more tomatoes to do a pretty good size batch of sauce for recipes.  AMY i'm still thinking about your suggestion of using the crock pot overnight but since it has to cook down and thicken, I'm wondering if the crock pot will let it do that?

Does anyone have any thoughts on that subject before I get too tired to do anything about it?

I'm going to open one of my jars of mustard and have some on a Lebanon Bologna and cheese sandwich for supper.  This wasn't my original plan for supper but I simply have to try that mustard.  If the top of my head blows off, I won't have to think about tomato sauce any more.  If it doesn't, I might have to make more mustard!

I think I'll take a short snooze until the tomatoes come out of the canner....or maybe I won't.  It depends on whether the dogs are hungrier than I am sleepy.  They'll tell me for sure.

Shirley, I remember your friend who is ill and I'm wondering how Roger would take something like that.  Maybe I'll check with his wife.  She's become as much a part of our group as he is.

Jane I would let it cook over night then in the morning take the lid off and turn it up high to cook it down. Then bottle it..

Amy, would you believe that thought actually crossed my mind?  I think, if we check back far enough, we might find out we're related.   ALSO...

I LOVE THAT MUSTARD!  It's just hot enough and just spicy enough!  I used it rather sparingly but it was perfect.  If you weren't raised in Pennsylvania, you probably don't know what Lebanon Bologna is but without mustard on it, it's just not the same and with Amy's mustard on it, it's practically heavenly.

Jane, I am so glad you like the mustard!!! Can't think of anyone nicer that I would like to be related to..

No, I don't know what Lebanon bologna is but do know I love bologna, like it fried too!!Also like it ground up with mayo, relish and a bit of onion in a sandwich.. gosh, now you have me wanting some bologna.....

You'll have to have David pick up some Lebanon Bologna when he goes through PA.  If he does, make sure he gets either Kunzler's or Seltzer's then you'll be sure you have the REAL THING!

I have 7 quarts of tomatoes cooling on the counter (love that popping sound!) and a crockpot full of seedless pulp cooking away.  I also took the 4 containers of tomatoes that I've been collecting out of the freezer and I'll set them to cooking when I get up tomorrow.  I'm hoping to have the sauce in the jars before I go to work tomorrow at 5 p.m.

And now I'm going to go put on my jammies and relax.  I may or may not be back to bid you all Good Night.  Just in case, I'm not....

Good Night Everyfriend.  Sleep well and may God bless us, every one!

I don't keep mustard in the house any more.   I think my taste buds have disappeared with age. Most things taste so mild, like baked ham, that if I used any mustard, I would get no taste of the ham. No sense of smell either. The older years are not especially kind. But I'm happy to be here.

Gloria, I have to keep reminding myself to sit straight too, especially in front of the computer.

I went down for lunch today after our meeting, planned to go to the laptop meeting, but the usual happened.....I sat back to read for half an hour, and woke up two hours later. I did get down for balance and mobility exercises, but was really very tired, so I am home for the rest of this day and evening. I don't recall seeing a post by Gloria de...I hope she is o.k.

I recall  the last post Jenny gave us from Joe, regarding his mother. Our Bis was in the hospital in one area, eventually was to be moved to a different place for physical therapy and learning how to breathe again without a respirator. I may have that mixed up, but the longer we wait for news the more concern I feel.

God knows, and He loves her, so we can thank Him for giving her what she needs now, and just keep praying.

Time to grab a bite of supper. I'm not hungry, but I do eat.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up since my usual time.  The doggies woke me up at 5:30 and I took the out then back in for Annies pill and then an hour until they can eat.

You can all scratch the idea of trying to cook down tomatoes in the crock pot overnight.  They were nice and hot this morning but just as thin and just as much as I put in last night.  I finished seeding what I had in the freezer and put them to simmering and added the ones from the crock pot to them.  Now we wait and stir from time to time.  I may not get them canned today but I have high hopes.

I hope Amy has a safe trip.  Oversleeping is not a good way to start a busy day.

LLOYD, I'm sorry I didn't comment on the veggies or the table cloth.  I was duly impressed with both.  I sure hope your kids will cherish that table cloth as much as you do.  It's something to be proud of.  Incidentally, so are the veggies.

The coffee's on!  Anyone want to join me on the PWP for a cup?
