Carol and Hal, I drove until I was 90 and I wasn't forced to quit, at least not the usual way.  My nephew had taken over my car because his daughter wrecked his.  He couldn't afford another car so commandeered mine!  Last year my license was up for renewal and my car insurance was up for renewal so since I wasn't driving, after Tom was able to buy a used car, I sold my car to a great niece in Indianapolis.  I did renew my license, but it would have to be an extreme emergency for me to have to drive.  I don't regret not driving although there are times I want to go somewhere and Tom is busy.

JMHO,
but if it is an emergency,  you do not need a license to drive...

But it is good for ones self esteem to get a license,  even if you
don't ever plan on using it!!!

I don't have a license any longer.  Because of my
vision handicap,  I didn't bother.
But in case of emergency,  I can see well enough to drive.
(And if it was an emergency,  of course I would.  (drive to the
nearest help)...

That's all...  Everyone have a good day,  and hope that
I don't have an emergency where I would have to steal
a car to drive it.     (giggle)

Sandy, our licenses are good for four years.  I won't renew mine again but will get the ID card - if I'm still here.  It wasn't an ego thing, but this last time, the State said I could renew by e-mail and that surprised me, so I renewed by e-mail.  If I had had to go in for a driving test, I would have gotten the ID card.

Gee, it has been lonely in the soda shoppe today. I went down to enjoy the entertainment tonight. Now it is time for sleep. Good night dear hearts...sleep peacefully, God is watching over us. I love you. June

Just finished watching my Broncos beat the 49'ers.  This was our second preseason game.

We had a little gathering of neighbors in our cul-de-sac this evening.  The two daughters of our neighbor that had her feet amputated came and gave us a update on how well their mother is doing.  The news is just wonderful.  The report is that Pam is doing excellent.  Her team of doctors are so happy with how well she has done.  She will move from the hospital to a rehab center next Thursday.  It has been 5 weeks since the surgery.  The most blessed news is that the prosthetic person told the daughters that Pam WILL walk into her home when she is released.  They do not anticipate her having to have her home refitted to accommodate a wheel chair!  I am so blown away by this new.  Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers for this dear lady.  Clearly our prayers have helped her out a LOT for her to be doing this well.

We returned home to a delicious steak dinner prepared by Brian and Cathy.  We just purchased a new grill and it was used the first time tonight.  The steaks Brian purchased were beautiful. We ate outside and it was just delightful.

It is nearly midnight, so I must say goodnight and turn off the lights.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning Everyfriend!  We're in Annie's pill wait time right now.  As soon as I feed them I'll be getting ready for church.  I thnk I'll avoid the Farmers market this morning.  I can't think of anything I REALLY need and I sure don't need any more work.  One day I'll stop again at the farm and get another dozen ears of corn.  I Know I'll use that over the winter.

LLOYD, did I understand you correctly?  Is today your 80th birthday?  If It is, I wish you the best of everything and many more happy birthdays to follow.  If it isn't, and I missed it somewhere along the way, my wishes are the same.

Have a wonderful day, Everyfriend.

In case you're peeking in, HI JOY!

Next Sunday the 27 th is my 80 th. sorry for the mess up. Have a great day.

Super Sunday to all (thanks, Callie)...!!!  Woke up about 12:30 am thinking I heard a T-storm, wasn't, but opened the door to invite cats in just in case.  Mama Callie came in & was upset when her kids stayed out, so she didn't know what to do.  She knows she can't stay inside the house all night and did not want to go to the garage, so after thinking it over she went back out.  By this time I was wide awake and had a little trouble going right back to sleep like I usually do.  I'm not "bright & perky" this morning~   :crazy2:

Jenny, such uplifting news about your friend, extra prayers when I talk to God this morning on my knees, that He continues hold her in his arms as she learns to walk with her new feet.  That steak sounds yummy.

Good morning to you, Janie.... like you, I buzzed right past the farmer's market yesterday after my little red head's birthday party.  I took over a watermelon cut to bite size & tub of grapes & explained "this is the LAST of the watermelons".  I'm tired of hauling those things around & all the mess I make cutting them up.

Okay, Lloyd, I'll save your birthday wishes for next Sunday.

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Had a great time at the garlic festival, brought home new red potatoes, zucchini and fresh garlic. They all went into making supper last night along with ground beef and cauliflower.

This afternoon we are heading to a retirement party for our Dr. I am sure going to miss him and his staff.

Over cast again today, yesterday was light rain at times but I did manage to get some laundry dry on the line ,then in the evening thunder and heavy rain..
I had better get my rear in gear here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

I see you, Amy!  & better get moving to feed cats & get to church on time!  Super Sunday to you, too!

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like we are in for another hot day here, went ito the 90's yesterday, of course the humidity went up  too. My son was here for his weekly visit and brought me some more farm fresh blueberries and some tomatoes. Maybe this time some of the blueberries will make it to the freezer.

JUNE  how long have you had your rollator now? I bought mine at least 6 years ago and it is beginning to look like it.

CAROL  in case I forget tomorrow HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  Not everyone has a total eclipse to celebrate their special day.

MARY  I gave up driving several years ago but still have my liscense. I do not think I will ever get behind the wheel again but then we never know what life will bring. I do miss the independance but not the cost.

JENNY wonderful news about your neighbor.

JANE  I miss going to the farm I like but my son has been getting me their blueberries. The owner and daughter were there yesterday and they asked him how I was doing. Nice to know that even after the almost 3 years since I was last there they remember me.

LLOYD  if I remember right you and JOAN share the same birthday.

AMY  I had 2 different doctors I trusted retire and still wish they were in practice. Enjoy the party today.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone !
Sitting here , enjoying the peace and quiet before we have to start getting ready to head back home.  Been a good visit bum.t I'm ready for my own house.

Trying to post using iPad is a pain....so I'll stop.

Carol

Lloyd: We are most fortunate to have this camaraderie among some content and grateful people.  I'll try to remember your real B-day next Sunday.

Jenny:  Why are you not sitting outdoors on your comfy chairs when we buzz by?  Miss you. Isn't it amazing what medicine can do for your friend, Pam?  Hugs and prayers for her.

Gloria:  thanks  :)  I am the only one who thought of the coincidence.

HAL:  My iPad is six years old and really not reliable anymore. Even with a new battery ($90.) it is almost worthless. They must be built to fail.

Breakfast anyone?  Steel cut oatmeal cooked overnight and scrambled eggs with marble rye toast.  Fresh pears for fruit.  enjoy

JaneS

Went to church, stayed for coffee hour and then came home.  I didn't stop at the Farmers Market today.  I can't think of anything I really NEED and I'm all worked out after the corn for eating, freezing and making soup.

I don't have anything planned for today!  I'll probably take a nap...or not!

Yesterday, my daughter texted to ask if I was home.  I was and she stopped over with two P.F. Chang dinners for my freezer.  My SIL works at American Home Foods and they have a company store once a week.  He picked up a couple for them and a couple for me.  My daughter said they were giving them away free.  In other words, she wouldn't let me pay for them.  This is the same SIL who has been cutting my grass this summer.  Definitely a KEEPER!

Mary Ann....

I know that if I could pass a driving test,  I would
be so proud,  that I probably would wear my license around
my neck  'til the next time it was due  to be renewed!   :D

I do have to go get an updated Maine Photo ID,  because
they are required for so many things.    I am just lazy about
spending the time to get this done!!

It is  a nice coolish day here on the rocky coast of Maine..

So far the day is just beautiful!!! We went out for lunch and now hubby is having a wee snooze before we head down to the retirement party for our Dr.

Carol, you Lloyd, Joanie and I should get together next year and celebrate our birthdays...gosh that would be fun.

Jenny, loved the news about your friend!! I know when my neighbour came home, she walked in on her own. Her hubby had a lift put in but it didn't stay there long. She is one spunky lady and I hope your friend is the same.

Hal, I try to write on my tablet and it auto corrects, or so it thinks  and I make a mess of a post so I quit using it and went back to my PC.

Gloria, this is going to be bittersweet. My Dr is an amazing man..long hours of work and if he is closed you go to his house. I am happy though that he did get to retire as he was very sick and now he can spend time with his family.

Shirley, we had a truck and boat trailer pull over the other night due to a flat tire and the clanking of metal work me up. Sleep was slow to come after that.

Jane ,sounds like you have an amazing son in law..now there are  two meals you won't have to worry about......just heat and eat

Good afternoon, very hot day.  I am just marking my place.

about and hour ago my nephew from Calif. called and said he would be here.  I knew he was in N.C. but now he is visiting on Long Island and will be here in 45mi.  Be back later.  I am also kind of laid up as I cut my leg again, saw the doctor yesterday suppose to stay off of it and keep it up.

Back from Chapel and ready to just pull in and stay home, it is so easy to get tired out and not even want to socialize….except with you, my internet family. The Sunday menu being offered does not appeal to me…..prime rib or chicken. I have a more extensive menu on my cupboard shelves or in the freezer.

I just sent off a card to my Gary. This is the date he was Ordained as a Baptist Minister. I've lost the year, but I'm sure he has too. He plays down things like this, but I am still his proud mother.

Lloyd, just think…you have a whole week of still being in your 70's. Enjoy !!!!!!!

Tisie, I am not bright and perky today either, so I came home from Church and decided to be a Hermit-ess. I am in my "cave" or "mountain top" for the day. And glad of it…whatever will be, will be.

Amy, enjoy you Drs. Retirement Party. I know it will be sad you all of you who are his patients, but most doctors have earned and need a period of peaceful retirement.

Gloria, I am trying to figure out the age of my rollator. We bought it for my husband. I would guess he used it for about a year. He died in 2005. I kept the rollator, but didn't use it till about 2010..something in that area……now I use it all the time except when I am napping, sleeping or sitting down. There are few minor things amiss with it, but nothing to make it uncontrollable. I could be disabled without it. My lack of balance make me feel frozen in place without it.

Hal, no place like home.

Janie…me too…no plans for the day. It is Sunday… I am taking a true "day of rest."
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I did take an unplanned nap.  I woke up and realized I'd been sleeping about an hour and I said, "Well, I guess I'll put that in my plans for today.

I sent some good friends from my church to my son's store to look for a new stove.  They told me this morning that they not only bought a stove.  They also bought a refrigerator, a dishwasher and a microwave oven.  Troy also added that they were especially taken with my son and how helpful he was and how informed he is about the appliances he sells.  They were also impressed with the fact that they are one of the few stores in this area who still service what they sell.  Can you see a glow coming from the area of Central PA?  That's me, glowing with pride!

Amy, the two P.F. Chang dinners are each enough for about 4 meals each for me.  There's a lot of food in those bags!  I've had them before and they go a long way for an old lady alone.

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday!

We really enjoyed the retirement party......what a testimonial to a great man. Heard stories from other patients and his daughter told some too. People were still coming in as we were leaving.

Jane, you just go right ahead and glow, he has a great Mom also!
Wow those are good meals.

I thought I would get some sewing done but my eyes don't wish to stay awake....better leave it for another day.

Denver

Good evening.  We have just returned from our grandson's family birthday dinner.  We went to their club where our anniversary party was held.  We had dinner then played Bingo.  Everyone had so much fun.  They do the Bingo nice a month and you have to get your name on the list early as it sells out immediately.  A very nice family gathering.

I appreciate all your kind words of encouragement regarding my neighbor Pam.  AMY, I really liked reading that your neighbor did, indeed, walk in to her home after a amputation.  We honestly doubted that Pam would ever be able to walk again due to the double amputation, her age and the fact that she has been dealing with this terrible infection for over 2 1/2 years, barely able to around.  She is a real trooper and all of her doctors are just so amazed at how well she is doing!  Thank you so much for your continued prayers.

I sure enjoyed the last EVER edition of Our Don's "Reid's Records" radio program.  I must admit I was emotional for you, DON, as this has been such a successful endeavor for you.  Your program WILL be missed by me and many, many others.  Thank you for the expierence.

JANE, you have every right to be proud of your son.  Clearly he met the needs of this family and they are now set with new appliances and some that cares and can fix them IF any problems arise down the road.  Yumm, PF Chang dinners for you!

JUNE, how nice of you to send your Gary a card to honor him on the day he was ordained.

GLORIA de, how nice to read that you had a visit from your nephew today.  I know you cherished the time you had with him.  Oh no, I am sorry you cut your leg again.  Take care now, and let it heal.

CAROL, I am sorry you have not seen me out on the deck.  I will admit I have not out there as much as I would like to be.  We have been out there more in the evenings than normal....  have enjoyed some nice meals out there too.  Whe do you leaveon your trip?

GLORIA, enjoy the fresh blueberries and tomatoes!  Lucky you.... I know you will love them.  My Boston Son called this morning and they were in Maine, near Kennebunkport, picking blueberries....the boys were so excited.

SHIRLEY, your family sure is lucky to get to eat fresh watermelon cut into pieces for them.  I know it is messy and time consuming, so being done doing it is a good decision.

Hey LARRY.  Did I miss your post?  I better go back and see if I missed it, or if you were missing today.  Sure hope all is well there with you and Pat.

It is time to turn out the lights.....pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Good morning Everyfriend!  JENNY, thanks for taking care of the lights last night.  I totally forgot about them.

My cleaning dynamo comes this morning so I have to be getting dressed and put some stuff away so she can actually do what she has to do.

Are we all ready for the eclipse?  I wonder?

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!
