And now, a very Good Morning to Everyfriend!  It's only supposed to go into the mid 70s today and that's our prediction for the entire upcoming week all the way through to next Saturday (not the day after tomorrow...a whole week of this).  I'm ready for this kind of weather!

I must say that I feel considerably better after my night time foray to WM this week than I did a couple weeks ago.  I guess I don't really know when to lie down and b sick when I am.  And I must have been that night.

We're waiting out Annie's pill right now.  When her time's up, we'll have breakfast.  I have my coffee and the doggies are waiting for the beeper.  They're really good little girls!

I have nothing on the agenda today except for picking up TLH after school.  So I can just "goof off" until about 3:30.  I think I'll throw a load of laundry in the washer.  That won't use up a lot of energy and I'm running out of clothes for work.  Then we'll see what else comes up.  Maybe I'll get a head start on next month's bills.  I hate that job and getting it out of the way would be a plus.

I wish you all a happy day filled with whatever pleases you most.

Oh what a beautiful morning.... (song in there).... temps in upper 50s to lower 60s,  LOVE IT!

Prayers & thoughts go with you Amy.... for good news and a safe trip.

Jane, I have a friend here that lost her husband a month or so ago, we talked about having pets and needing "someone to talk to".  She said she never talked to her dog when they had one years ago, she grew up on a farm and animals were "just there".  I can't relate.  I talk to my pets and talk to the birds & critters outside.  They may not understand the words (pets do) but the wildlife understands the tone of our voices, I'm convinced of it.  "Your Girls" are lucky to have home cooked food, my sister used to cook meals for our sister-in-law's little dog.  She cooked chicken & rice, not sure if she put veggies in but think so.... and would freeze it in ZipLoc bags to take to her.  Not sure how this got started but was a blessing for the dog.  Our SIL loved her dogs but not good about thinking of their needs.  Makes me happy to see so many pet lovers in here, that do talk to their fur-babies like people.

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy, I am with Tissie, hope it is all good news this morning on the test results.

I guess everyone can guess what is on the news here.  Harvey.  I haven't turned on TV yet, but the forecast will change half dozen times before it makes landfall tomorrow, or was forecast to last night.

I have to see Maggie (my dentist) at 11 to get my new coffee stained old mans tooth this morning.  And just think it only cost a little over 500 dollars, insurance picked up half that cost.  But hopefully I want be seeing her for awhile.

Tissie I talk to my dog and she loves it.  I wished sometimes I could get a picture of her when she is really enjoying her petting and rub down.  She stands there almost asleep with her head hung dog and ears just flopping down around each side of her head.  She is really into it.  :)

Well, heard wife getting paper in, so coffee is ready, who wants a cup.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. It is another bright and sunny morning and headed into the lower 90's by mid-afternoon.  I did have to leave the sprinklers on so the yard could be watered this morning.  It has been several days since we had rain.  I do plan on picking up my friend from the care facility and we will go downtown to coffee this morning.  That will be about it for the day as the Wisdom group was cancelled again this week.

Our plans did change yesterday.  Neither Pat nor I felt up to going out to eat last evening so I asked Scott to stop at Wifesavers and get us all takeout dinners.  The food from Wifesavers is very much like home-made and we all had delicious dinners.  I spent most of the day resting and a lot of that time just laying down with my eyes shut and listening to an audio book.

Jane, sure glad you are feeling better and the late night shift didn't do you in yesterday.

deAngel, Pat usually uses her Featherweight a few minutes each day.  It is in the sun room alcove and easy for her to get to rather than having to so upstairs.

Hal, nice to read you were feeling much better yesterday morning.  I certainly hope you get some nice rain and not a huge amount that would cause flooding like 30 inches.

Amy, every time I read about someone making a lemon pie or eating lemon pie I get hungry for a piece. It has been years since Pat made her own pie shells.  Are you and Carol familiar with a lady named Nova who has a website devoted to the Singer Featherweight's? Pat has purchased several things from her and got a big laminated card on maintenance of the machine with pictures and instructions.  I think she has also talked with he personally on the phone about a question or two she has had.  Sure hope the report from the doctor regarding the chemo is good today.

June, glad you were up to attending Gary's Bible class yesterday.  Glad you felt up to going down for lunch with your friends yesterday.

Jenny, I saw that delightful photo of your 12 year old grandson when he was a baby.  He sure was cute.  Just think that next year he will be a teenager.  My third youngest great grandchild turned 12 yesterday.  His dad sent me pictures of his cake and gift and told us what he planned to do with part of the money we sent him for his birthday.  He wants a pet scorpion of all things.  They had talked with the lady at the pet store and found out its sting is like a bee sting and not deadly like we tend to think of when we hear the word scorpion. We did enjoy our dinner with Scott and Jennifer last evening.  Is your friend Pam a diabetic?  If not she will likely heal much more quickly from the amputation than Stacey did from hers.

Carol, your posting left me wondering how you really felt about Apple (not).  :)  Don's mother and Shirley's mother and others others like them served as an early form of radar in keeping an eye on the sky for enemy planes during the war.

June, too bad your clinic can't call you a few minutes before the doctor will see you so you don't have to sit and wait at the clinic.  I hope they have comfortable chairs at least.

Shirley, glad you brother missing the Kansas City flooding.  I have a few books that belonged to my grandfather.  Unfortunately time is doing a number on them.  I also have a couple of pieces of furniture that belonged to my grandmother that had been given to her in the late 1800's.  Her father was a furniture salesman and these pieces have held up very well.

JaneS

My great uncle was the first in his family to go to college and the first to earn a Master's Degree and a Doctorate.  He taught at several local schools including being the principal of one.  He also taught at Lycoming College and letured to many groups of teachers over the year.  Along the way, he wrote a book called "The Schoolmaster Chats".  It had lots of gems of teaching in the early 1900s and I came to own a copy a while back that he had autographed to my great aunt, his sister.  I never knew what I was going to do with it but I kept my eyes open for someone in the family who might appreciate it.

Last Christmas, I gave it to my granddaughter Natalie and her husband Clint.  She has always been drawn to books and has just earned her Master's Degree.  Clint is working toward a Doctorate and plans to teace History at the college level.  They were both delighted and promised to cherish it and make sure it was passed on to a future generation with all the information on the author complete.

Sometimes a family treasure is cherished by the next generation. I've found this to be true of some other treasures.

Good afternoon everyone. Just realized I did not check in here yesterday. Last 2 days I have had PT here in my apartment and she will be here again late afternoon. She is very nice but boy I am aching all over.

GLORIA de   hope you have the med you need by now. Only thing I like about the phamacy I have now is that they deliver.

AMY  I still miss seeing the cardinal pair that came to my feeder. Loved watching how wonderful they treated each other. I do feel better today, air is cooler and less humid. A relief to not have the AC running.

JUNE  I am much better today but still feel lazy.

HAL  with the different aches I have today are from the exercises that the PT gal is having me do. All easy but stretching muscles I have not used I guess.

SHIRLEY  do you ever have a day that you take off and not do any work? You work way too much.

JANE  you are another one along with Shirley and Amy that work too hard. Reading your posts makes me feel even more lazy than I alredy feel.

AMY any of that lemon pie left?  I never froze just pie crust but did freeze pies.

LLOYD  last night I fell assleep with a window open and the fan on. Woke during the night and got a blanket and turned off the fan. It went doen to the mid 50's. Great for sleeping.

LARRY  some apples like Macs get soft fast after picking. I have had Jonathans but seldom see them here anymore. That is one my son did not have.

Speaking of my son he surprised me Tuesday afternoon. He brought me some yellow cherry tomatoes, very sweet, and 1 tomato. That tomato must have weighted over a pound. Had a sandwich with 1 slice of it and oh it was so tasty.

Gosh  I never thought I could be missed by anyone. Thanks Amy and Jane. Of course doing anything pon this computer is not enjoyable but cannot afford a different one and HP will onle put it back tp the original settings and I am not in the mood to start installing things again.

JENNY  I am as fine as can be. Don't know why I didn't post yesterday. I know it was a busy day after waking later than usual and my CNA was here shortly after I spent half an hour sitting in the shower with the water beating on my back.

HAL  no one needs or wants 30 inches of rain. Just think of the damage and flooding. Someone need to make an arch?

Think I will go lay down on the couch for an hour or so before PT gets here.

The guest bed is ready - I am not ready for any company soon.

Shirley:  Don was on a SAC base and on alert for many weeks.  Also, he would fly from Cheyenne to Omaha almost weekly.  We were just married - and it was so lonely that I asked my neighbor if her children could come and visit me and we baked cookies, and played games.  As for plane spotting - this has always been sorta funny to me but in northern Minnesota and perhaps other northern states, they were on the watch for any Finnish intrusion (communist ones).  Fortunately, the Finns did not intrude.  :)

Amy:  The pattern is heart shaped with each one having 3 blocks. Hearts go right-side up and then the next row is inverted hearts.  I am not any expert - and I tried to make it all random which was a huge mistake.  Lots of thread picking and now I think I have "got it".  Wishing the imaginary cook and house cleaner would help so I could live a life of luxury - but as one little grandson told me once.  "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"  and the 2nd. grandson came out and told us "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit".   Wise words from the little ones.

JaneS:  No doggies here - we visit them at other homes and do some dog-sitting for our "fix".  We have stairs to get to the back yard and there are coyotes in the area so it isn't a good idea.  Not since my neighbor had to have rabies shots from a coyote bite.  We miss one but this house isn't set up right.  Glad you are getting better hours, and hope it stays in your favor.

Larry:  I'll look for the featherweight site.  Thanks

Don is taking the Comcast item back - he found a little antenna that does the same work and it is a cheap fix for our stations.  We want to visit our neighbor in rehab either day he is ready to receive a 10 minute visit so I will call the center soon.
.

Carol

Larry:  Don found a way for us to get around APPLE - with our book downloads.  It is working so far.

June Drabek

Good Afternoon dear hearts. I have been up since 5 a.m. but spent the morning shortening the hem of a new muumuu…yep the whole morning..it is a polyester fabric and hard to get a needle through. Plus I am years out of practice. Then I remembered something called iron on hemming tape and since I have three more muumuus to hem I got on Amazon and ordered the tape. YAY ! My brain works slowly but it still works.

Amy, they arrange here for the doctor we choose out of about six or seven to arrive regularly once a month..sort of a standing appt. My son chose Dr. Le for me before I ever moved here, and I love her like a sister.

My Dr. ordered another blood test, so they appeared at my door at five a.m. The Tech and a Rowntree Nurse that always attends too. She did her job and I dozed off for a bit afterwards. My Dr. thinks I may have a heart valve the closes too slowly at times. She is going to see if an EKG machine can be brought in, as she knows I do not want to go out for any tests anymore. They don't cure anything, just answer some questions, and I no longer care.

I had a big bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and now I have heated up some fish sticks and spaghetti for a late lunch at home, so off I go to eat and then a nice nap. See y'all later. Hugs and Hugs and Hugs.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

June, the "Echocardiogram" (echo) for the valve problem is kind of "icky" (excuse the technical terms!) but not invasive or any problem.  They put a lot of goop on your chest & sort of like a sonogram.... let the little mouse thingy look at your heart pumping.  Lots of bright colors to watch, I got them every year or so before surgery.  Think it's every 2 years now.  They do have a way of fixing the valve through the artery, (for sure if you do, check to see that the Dr has plenty of experience, don't be his guinea pig).  When I was researching before my unplanned surgery, quite a few hospitals had experience in the procedure, but I was looking at mid-west as well as Cleveland Clinic & Mayo.  It is sort of like a stent procedure, they can replace or patch (not sure which) the valve without opening the chest.  Do consider it if the echo shows a problem, it may give you a lot of relief as well as years to enjoy your family... and us!  I know you have said "no more", but from my understanding, not much worse than all the tests.  Just my experience & know you are in control and thankfully can decide for yourself!  Hugs to you.

June, it looks like it really is going to be a mess with Harvey.  They are saying it is going to stall "somewhere" between here and Corpus Christi and then turn either East or West and do as you wanted, head back out to the Gulf.  But they are saying more than likley toward Houston and go in again on the Louisiana coast.  They are predicting that we are going to more rain than we want or need 8-12-20 inches and winds up to 70 MPH here in San Antonio and storm conditions of up to four days and some areas within the storm could get up to 36 inches, amounts have varied, it seems like every hour on the hour.  Haven't watched at reports in the last three hours, put a movie on and watched DVR and stayed away from all the racket.

Lloyd sorry to hear about the death in your family.

Good Night everyone, God Bless and sweetdreams.

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's 58º in Central PA right now and not supposed to exceed 75 today.  This is my kind of weather!  Last night the doggies found some kind of baby rodent in the yard.  I think it was a baby squirrel.  It was dead by the time I had them in the house and found it with my flashlight.  I hope it's the only one but since I'm not sure, they went out on the leashes this morning.  I bagged the rodent and put it outside the fence but since I don't know if there are any more and I'm sure the parents are still around, I'm not taking any chances.  Any wild animals could transmit rabies and we sure as heck don't want that!

I think we'll use the leashes today and keep our eyes open for more and for the parents.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  I'll be behind my counter at WM this morning and then my daughter and granddaughter will be arriving for a short visit.

Good morning everyone, awoke to lawnmowers, they sure are noisy things. The landscapers are here today. I thought it was odd they weren't here on Wednesday. Other than that noise it should be a pretty quiet day here for a change. No one coming to clean or make me exercise. The gal for PT is good, so far the exercises are easy but 3 days in a row had me aching yesterday.

CAROL  out of the mouth of babes-2 smart grandsons.

AMY  WONDERFUL NEWS. I am happy to read that this morning. Your hubby has been through so much to get to this point.

HAL  I have you and your family in my prayers with that hurricane getting stronger. We really have not had a bad one here in this part or RI is quite a while but they have done a lot of damage along the shore line. heard on the news this morning about the amount of rain that might fall. Get the ark ready?

LLOYD  sorry about your cousin.

JANE  we had the last 2 nights go down to the upper 50's and so good for sleeping, Supposed to be like that a few more nights. The sun that was shining when I got up is now under a cloud cover. Looks like it might rain. Glad you found that dead rodent and got rid of it. Have a good day at Wm. and enjoy the visit with your daughter and granddaughter.

Hi everyone. It looks like we are in for a mostly cloudy day today and temperatures in the low 90's.  The housekeeper will be here in a couple of hours and I may try to make a quick trip over to Costco for just a few items.  Other than that expect a nice quiet day.

Yesterday I did pick up my friend and go to coffee and later helped fix the salad supper we had.  After supper we decided to go to Dairy Queen to take advantage of their special offer of buy one blizzard at regular price and get one for $1 more.  Pat had the Triple Truffle and I had the Heath small blizzards.  Health has always been my favorite.

Jane, my great grandfather on my father's side of the family was a teacher.  I heard it many times growing up that on the first day of school he would write on the blackboard his one rule for his classes and that was "Do Right".  My mother's brother got a degree but don't think he ever taught but worked as a fine quality furniture maker using his industrial arts degree.  I was the first one in my immediate family to get a degree.  I never had any doubt about doing so as knew that was my key away from the farm.  It sounds like your great uncle was a very accomplished man. It is nice that your granddaughter and her husband wanted the book.

Lloyd, I often follow that same diet although I guess I am a bit of a picky eater as there are quite a few things I don't like and won't eat.  I do definitely have a sweet tooth.

Gloria, good to see your posting from yesterday.  We were beginning to worry about you.  I sure hope your PT helps you after you get over the aches from it.  I'm with you when I read all that Shirley, Jane and Amy do each day.  I like to work and keep busy but my body says no way after a certain point.

Carol, you were wise to invite the children to come over and make cookies, etc. when you were alone and lonely.  I wonder where that wisdom came from that your grandson's shared with you?  I am finding that as each month passes my enjoyment from television lessens.  Fortunately we have the headphones that Pat can use so the house remains silent for me on occasion.  I do enjoy listening to music and then watching sports on the TV with a few others programs.  Glad Don found a way for you to work around Apple for your downloads.

June, glad you thought of a simpler way to hem. We have many years of data stored in our brains and it sometimes takes a while for us to find things there but I think our mind keeps working to find those facts.  I often experience this in working crossword puzzles as I do each day.  Initially I can't think of the answer but come back to it later and it pops into my mind.  EKG machines are not large anymore so hope one can be brought in for you.

Shirley, not trying to correct you but I think an EKG is quite different than an Echocariogram.  I have had many EKG's over the years and they are very quick while the Echo, while not invasive, does take quite a bit of time.  I had one of those done a few months ago.

Amy, hurrah, what a blessing to get such a report from the doctor.  As Hal and others have said, prayers do work and I know there were many people praying for your husband.

Lloyd, sorry for your sadness in losing a cousin.

Hal, that weather report for your area doesn't sounds very promising.  Sure hope your trees stay upright.

Gloria, I think our lawn people will be working today also.  I sort of dread it each week as it seems we hear the mowers, blowers and trimmers going all day long.  Fortunately, with our yards being so small they are not in our yard very long but they all come at different times though out the day.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the warm
and clear, rocky coast of Maine.

Amy,  congratualtions to you and yours on GOOD News!
LLoyd,  I am sorry for the loss of your cousin... I believe that
we move on to a better place, once our time has come.

I received good news also.    My Grand Daughter Maggie
had some tests done this week and it looks like she
does not have MS,  (which we have been contemplating now
for the last year)  .....     Good News is always welcome!!!

Have a good day everyone.
And for those who are in the path of Hurricane Harvey....
Take Care and Beware !!!       I see that  a lot of
people are headed for San Antonio...   Hope Harvey doesn't
change his mind and head that way too!!!

Hal, I read that quite a few coastal residents in your area are going inland. Are you and your wife making any such plans or have you been through enough of these disasters to know you are safe where you are. My prayers are with all that need them. God knows who, and where they are. keep safe Hal.

Janie, we are having a nice cloudy day…my joy. We are forecast with a high of 78 degrees, going into the 90's by Monday…ick !!! Have a good time with family dear. I am doing whatever the day allows…very little so far, but I am happy.

Gloria, we get our noise lawn mowers, edgers and blowers…..all very noisy…on Thursdays. Since I have a St. Francis garden just below my windows it IS a noisy time. But the rest of the week is lovely. Gloria, are the painful therapy lessons going to improve your mobility in some way ? I sure pray so. It may be miserable at times but if it allows you more freedom of movement it is worth it, right ? I have never had any therapy except what I give myself every morning, and I don't experience any severe pain but the exercises work well in helping me keep the blood flowing.

Larry I think I have done crossword puzzles most of my adult life and enjoyed them tremendously. Now with the computer I have other games, I play. I checked out the EKG machines on the Net and find they have some that would be portable, but whether they will make special trips out here I have yet to find out. I just feel any tests do not heal, they only inform, and so I am not too interested. They only take more energy and patience than I can afford to give them. My youngest son has developed A-fib, and I am happy that he is having regular testing as he has his own Church, plus teaching Bible classes here at Rowntree Gardens..his life has importance, my life requires peace and rest, so I choose that.

Sandy, I am so thankful your Grandaughter does NOT have MS. May she have a long and happy and important life.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June, my wife and I are staying put.  Many are evacuating to our area.  One computer projection is now saying that the hurricane could stall over Corpus Christi for SIX days, hopefully that is wrong.  We are suppose to get high winds and lots of rain.  We have plenty to eat and some bottled water so we will stay indoors.

Carol

LOL on Fe Fe in her Tutu!!!  Did everyone see the picture in Random Image?

Gloria:  It is so interesting to see how the grands look at life and compare it with our own background.  I hope all of your PT helps you very soon.

Lloyd:  My sympathy on the loss of your cousin.

Amy:  That is excellent news!

Sandy:  Great news for you too!  It must have been difficult for everyone waiting those results.

We visited our neighbor who is in wound care rehab yesterday.  He was looking strong and his energy was very good too.  It is a lovely room with a large and low window looking at a flower and tree filled inner court.  How wonderful for anyone in bed trying to get through physical rehab.

Hal:  It sounds like you are prepared - I hope you keep electricity and keep posting so we can check on you.
