Three highly decorated police officers die in a wild shoot out with narcotics dealers and go to heaven.

God greets them and asks, "When you are laid out in your casket, and your fellow officers and family are mourning you, what would you like to hear them say about you?

The first cop says, "I would like to hear them say, that I was the bravest cop on the force."

The second police officer says, "I would like to hear that I was a terrific cop who died in the line of duty."

The last cop replies, "I would like to hear them say ... Look, He's Moving!"

Q: What is a difference between "accident " and "tragedy"?

A: Suppose you with the family are beside a pool. You suddenly push your mother in law into the pool - so it's an accident.
If she could swim and gets out, in that case, it's a tragedy!

G'Morning All, just had a quick read and noticed several mentioned the old BBC comedy show 'Are you being served' and inparticula the late 'Mrs Slocombe'  (Molly Sugden), there are several great repeats of her shown on youtube , just google  >Tribute to Molly Sugden <, a great selection there to choose from. Enjoy.
                                                                                         Cheers.   Roley.  :)

Hi Everyone.  We have an overcast but warm Sunday morning.  We have a forecast of 100% chance of rain during a four hour period this afternoon.  I just hope it waits until I am home from Church around noon time.  Other than attending Sunday School and Church this morning and getting us something for our main meal for today there is nothing else on the agenda.  I will watch the final day of the golf tourney if they can get it in before the rain.  I just checked and see that they have already started the last round so it should be over early this afternoon.  Yesterday I did attend my meeting and then make a quick stop at Comcast and returned the equipment and it only took a couple of minutes.  Finally I stopped at the Costco gas station and filled up the tank since I went right by it after I left Costco.

I am running out of time before I need to leave and like to write in the discussions in the morning.  So I will give you all a break today and limit my comments for today.  However, that will likely not be the case tomorrow.

Jane, that was one of my favorite shows we watched on Saturday night and I even enjoy the reruns.  I also liked Keeping Up Appearances. I felt for her poor husband.  I also liked the Vicar of Dibley.

Bubble, it is a sad day when we can't laugh at ourselves or broad comedy like the old comedies.  Carol, I agree with you about who gets to decide what others can watch and do.

Bubble, thanks for starting us off with a new page for the week.  That is sure a beautiful graphic and looks like an oil painting.  It certainly gives one a peaceful feeling.  Good jokes too.

Good morning everyone 34°. Gray sky. Yesterday was a beautiful spring day at last,, warm and sunny and I think everyone opened their windows. If the witch saw that I wonder if she would have yelled at us. Latest news here is that a form will be going around for signatures and complaints and sending to a senator who is a friend of a tenants daughter. Will wait a see about that. Always gossip in places like this. Today will be cooler and showers and tomorrow could even have sleet and possible snow. My son said he would take me to get my new glasses tomorrow. Will not be able to work in his orchard in the rain. My other son was here yesterday and I do look forward to his visit every week and of course my daily visit with my daughter on Skype. I did spend most of the day out on the porch enjoying the warmth and sunshine and fresh air.

LARRY  the Carol Burnett show is on here too late for me to stay up and I have no way to record it. That was always a good clean fun show. Hope my son does get a drop this year. He could not get out there earlier this year because of the muddy ground so late getting to the pruning.

JANE  after loosing weight all the things I had that were almost new I washed and packed and sent to my daughter. She weighs more than I do now. Some things she sent me over the years she is now wearing. I would love to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe but I would not have the stamina to try clothes on.

ROLEY  when we were talking about the old shows we forgot about Amos and Andy. One of the few that made it from radio to TV.

MARY ANN   it would be like the witch to come up here when I am not home. I hate that she does that but she is sneaky.

BUBBLE  these days people find fault with anything that is clean fun. These days Jack Benny would not be able to have his Rochester.

JANE  got your plane reservation in yet for the trip to hold your new baby?

CAROL  heard yesterday that one of the original tenants here was going to make the rounds with a petition.  Have not seen it yet but I sure will sign it if it is true. Of course I would check the other names on the list.

GLORIA de  the morning looks horrible after yesterday. Tomorrow looks like it will be miserable.

CALLIE  I hope those fires are out soon. Time to pray for good rain in that area.

JENNY  from what I understand anyone who had chicken pox is a candidate for shingles. Wish my sons would get that shingles shot. Antenna not installed. I thought I told you that Cox after my last complaint has lowered my bill by $50.-- a month guaranteed for a year. Will see if service is any better. In the folder of rules and such we get when we move in it stated that tenants will be notified  hours before inspection, Never had a notice before so will see, If I get it my son might be able to be here.

AMY  hope we ge no more snow here.

JANE  I don't have face time but at Christmas I do see my daughter's sons on Sky pe and I love that.

JOY  my family would think nothing of popping in for a visit but these days I would resent it. I am no longer ready fot visitors at an time. Glad you refused to see someone you knew so long ago. Inconsiderate.

LLOYD  home made apple pie still warm with ice cream. Oh that sounds so good.

BUBBLE  I would love to be sitting in your graphic and looking at the ocean, beautiful.
Thanks for the graphics and the jokes.

DON  Bubble does a good job, then you do know that.

JANE will look when I finish here.

AMY  we might ge freezing rain later, rather have snow than that.

Snow blowing is all done for now.driveway cleaned and a run made for the dogs in the back yard, plus a trail to the wood pile. Now it is raining out!  We have a freezing rain warning out  ,wonder what will come next??

Jane, your great granddaughter is so precious. Love her cheeks!! Hope to see more photos when you get them and of you holding this beautiful baby!

Lloyd, just think of the snow as moisture for your ground and they say it is good for your soil too...just like fertilizer.

Gloria,I enjoyed watching Carol Burnett good clean fun and laughter. Can you imagine Carol and Red Skelton working together??

Better go get the soup on the stove.

Gorgeous graphic, Bubble.... all the most restful colors imaginable.  Hey, I had a fairy ring in my front yard a few years ago & looked  out to see a "middle aged" lady standing in the middle & going around & around.  I walked out to see what was going on because I had never heard that good luck or whatever came when you circled inside a Fairy Ring.... she explained to me & I still thought she was a bit whacky but not dangerous.   :D   I've had the rings since in front & back, and some enormous toadstools or whatever they are, in the back.  I never did take time to research as to WHY they grow only in MY yard.  Thanks for all your good work!

We missed out on the snow... :tissue: :tissue: :tissue: but wind makes it almost impossible to open a car door.  Need moisture, the blossoms that froze on my red bud tree are crunchy now.... dehydrated on top of the freeze.  We may end up with fires & blowing dust like in the "dirty 30s" of long ago.

Gloria, one time I had a pocket type recorder that I taped the conversation between my husband & me and a roofing company... and played it back for them when they tried to scam us on the deal.  It paid off because you can't do better than having their own voice on tape!  We didn't even have to fight for our rights!

I'm off to go see Janie's latest great!  Thanks for sharing her photo.

For some reason I got locked out of here and could not post. Had to search you out to get here today.

Thank you! BUBBLE, for our nice new SS. love the pictures and the jokes....

Last nights post.....

It has been rather uncomfortable day, but I have been on the meds for over 24 hours so I know they have to be kicking in soon....I HOPE.

AMY, I have heard some scary stories from many about people’s experience with shingles and I can tell you that shot is worth any amount of money to keep from getting these darn shingles.  I noticed some change around my eyes earlier this evening and I am praying they are not moving there....Bob reminded me tha5 the meds SHOULD keep them for: spreading more....but it really scared me and has me on edge.

JANIE, we are all waiting to see the picture of BABY EMMA....I can only imagine how excited you were to have a video call with them.  I did get to see the pictures and she is a cutie for sure....I know you are counting the days before you can go and see her for yourself❣️

JOY, no one should ever drop in unexpected.....so do not feel badly for saying no.  Shame on them.  I had this happen to me many years ago....and I have never recovered from the awful experience it was.  I had my four very young boys out in our back yard all morning helping my back neighbor build a fence between our homes.  I brought them in to feed them lunch when the door bell rang.  There stood my husbands first cousin and her hubby from Auburn Alabama.  I nor my home were ready for them to come in the house!  As they entered the home, there was my youngest in a high chair fast asleep with his cheek on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  From that day on, I decided I would never allow myself to be caught like that again.  These two people were both in high positions at Auburn University and never had children...so I am quite sure they did NOT understand what they had done to me by being so rude!

Love and hugs to you tonight Our Sweet JUNE.

Enjoy your Sunday, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny,  I sure hope that you will see some improvement with your specific problems with  the shingles .  I had them several years ago, but got started on medicine right away and the only problem I had was the itching.  I don't remember any real pain with them.  And,  I have not gotten the shingle's vaccine.

Thank you for your comments on my unexpected visitors.  If it had been really good friends,  I probably would not have thought anything of it.  But, this couple weren't ever really good friends.....nice family, but we were never that close.   I think that it was rude and very inconsiderate.  Since we hadn't been in touch for so long, they had no idea of what kinds of problems that I might have been having.   I have forgotten about it already.

Bubble, thank you for starting us on a new page.  The graphics are very nice.

It has been a very dreary, windy, cold day.  Quite a drastic change from our 80º yesterday.  Do you all remember the song......What a Difference A  Day Makes...

Have a wonderful evening.

Good Monday Morning!  All the early morning friends.

Pretty gloomy looking out of my window this morning.  Rain, fog and wind, but, the temperature is in the low 50's.  I was thinking it was a lot cooler.  We had thunderstorms during the night and real hard rain.   Yesterday, the weatherman was predicting all this and even flooding is some places.  However, the did say it may clear off by the afternoon.  We shall see !

Hope everyone will have a good day to start off this new week.

I'm sorry I missed your birthday yesterday, Gloria.  I hope it was a good day for you and that you got to see your sons and talk to your daughter.    :hb2:

I kept the laptop turned off for most of the afternoon and evening because of the heavy storms that came through.  We were under severe storm, flooding, and tornado watches for most of the afternoon and late into the evening.  It really, really rained!  But, thankfully, we didn't have high winds or hail here and we didn't lose power at our house.  There was a tornado in Greensboro but that is about 90 miles from here and even though we had constant alerts nothing struck here.  I had my bag of medicine and necessary items packed and sitting by the basement door ready to go down to the "safe room" if we needed to but we didn't need to.

Larry, I must look into buying a modem that is compatible with Spectrum Cable tv.  The one that we rent from Spectrum has become unreliable and must be re-booted nearly every day.  Besides, I'm tired of paying a monthly rental fee to Spectrum for equipment that they forced us to switch to when they went totally HD.   >:(

Cloudy and much cooler this morning and there is a lot of tree litter all over the yard but we seem to be back to a normal Mon.  The laundry is waiting, as usual, and so is my breakfast so I must be up and away.

Take care, All.

Hi Everyone.  This is going to be a beautiful day after a very stormy and rainy one here yesterday.  It is in the 40's now and will only get into the high 50's this afternoon and it is to be windy all day.  My schedule is clear for today and expect to stay home all day.

Lloyd, I hope you enjoyed your day of rest yesterday and hope you didn't get too much snow.

Gloria, Happy Birthday.  Nice that you have a good relationship with your children.  Hope you will see a big change with your new glasses.  With my Dish TV setup I can record two or three different programs at once so can record late and watch later.  I wouldn't stay up late to watch any program anymore.  I know the skits on Carol Burnett and the other old comedy shows were silly but they were enjoyable and one could actually laugh out loud.  I also need to buy some new clothes but the idea of shopping for them just isn't appealing.  I have purchased some things on line but prefer to buy clothes locally so they are easy to return.  I will have to check the Costco site for clothes as I could return them locally so that would work.  I hadn't thought bout doing that before this moment.  The cable companies don't want to lose customers.  When I moved here I was going to cancel the Dish service and put in cable but when I talked to them they gave me such a good deal that I agreed to continue the service.

Sandy, this time of the year snow can be enjoyed as it is not going to last long.  We needed the rain we got yesterday.  I haven't checked the gauge but heard it could be up to 2 inches and it rained a lot and sometimes came down in large quantities.

Amy, it surely can't be much longer before you can store away your snow blower and shovel.

Shirley, you must have been pretty shocked to see the lady going around and around in your fairy circle, whatever that is.  Perhaps she thought you had fixed it just for her.  I just did a quick Google search.  Your yard must have just the right soil for the toadstools.  I am surprised to read that you had freezing temperatures.

Jenny, sure hope your shingles don't move to your eyes or anywhere else.  Pat had thought she didn't need the shingles shot but several year ago her doctor talked her into letting them test and she found she had had chickenpox as a child and didn't know it as it had apparently been so mild.  She got the shot for the shingles.  Fortunately the Kaiser insurance we had paid for the entire cost of the shots.  I had had it several years earlier.  I figure if people visit unannounced they just have to take things as they are.  However, I agree that it is very unthoughtful to not at least call and check before arriving.

deAngel, we didn't have to worry about our children watching those old shows with us and that certainly isn't the case anymore.  Topper movies were one of my favorites as liked the Leo G. Carroll  that played the role (I had to look that up as couldn't remember his name).

Joy, I do remember the song "What a Difference a Day Makes"  and here is a link to a video of Dinah Washington singing it:  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiQ_NfS8r7aAhUBy1MKHeAGByEQyCkILDAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DOmBxVfQTuvI&usg=AOvVaw32P4bN0Ow_mvMXyn1nSowd  That was some link! It sounds like the storms that we had yesterday came up your way.  We were under tornado watches all afternoon and early evening and several severe thunderstorm warnings.

roley, hope the cyber attack doesn't occur in your country.  So many of our infrastructure systems seem so vulnerable.

Phyllis, glad you didn't lose power yesterday.  It sounds like you had the same weather we had here yesterday.  I heard about the tornado in Greensboro.  We apparently had some wind damage in different places here in South Carolina.  Glad you didn't have to go to your "safe room".  We don't have such a thing in this house and guess our laundry room, which is right next to the stairwell, is the best place we have to go.  I am very happy with my new modem/router.  It was super easy to set up and activate by a quick call to Comcast.  I should have purchased my own when we moved here but didn't do so.  The purchase price will be recovered in less than 10 months as the device cost around $100.   I just checked and the one I bought is certified by Spectrum.  If you like I will send you a link to where I purchased it through Amazon and had it in two days.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Gloria.

Our area had quite a storm yesterday with ice-coated trees falling in yards and on vehicles.  Our immediate area had only granular frozen ice and no outage problems here.  I am sorry our weather headed east toward Amy and it would be nice if it would go further north where none of the S&F people live.  Today should be nothing like yesterday, but still will not be nice.  Radar shows us surrounded by snow but the mix has moved on.  I think most churches in our area were closed yesterday; it was that bad.

Good morning on this really miserable day. 35° so at least it is not icy out but rain and more rain  and possible thunderstorms later. Just because my son is taking me for my glasses after my CNA leaves. This is one day the runners in the Boston Marathon will be sweating from the sun. Imagine running more than 26 miles in the rain!

AMY  on boy that would be some laughs. No script and both Carol and Red being good with adlibbing. I can picture her with her Tarzan yell and making him shut his mouth till she stopped. Can you see his facial expressions as she yelled?

SHIRLEY  if I had the time I would have asked my smart grandson about a camera/recorder that could be hidden  and aimed at the door.

JENNY  I have to sign in every morning, been going on about a month. Don't know why after all these years it is happening. I hope you are feeling a bit better after the meds kick in.  Years ago it did not bother me when family members showed up at my door unannounced. These days I would not let anyone in if I was not expecting them unless it is my family. Thanks you for the BD greeting, but really just another day older

GLORIA de  thank you. I love those old musical movies, would love too see them again. Just good clean entertainment.

AMY thank you, my older son and DIL came over with my great grandson. She brought a birthday cake she made and decorated and and the little one carried in a wrapped gift.  He acted so shy yesterday.

JANE  thank you, which one of y our fur babies is that  running around?

SHIRLEY  thank you, wow been years since I had a balloon and here there are many for me from you.

JOY  thank you. after the beautiful day Saturday it was miserable yesterday and worse today. We have thunderstorms in our forecast for this afternoon.

ROLEY  world news does not sound good. With so many countries now having atomic capabilities it is beyond being frightening.

LLOYD  that is the best wish, thank you. I was only a day older than the day before.

PHYLLIS  thank you. Saw one son Saturday with a gift and he called again yesterday. Other  son and DIL were here yesterday with my great-grandson and of course talked my daughter later. Terrible weather and my son will be taking me to get my new glasses this afternoon.

LARRY  buying clothes from a catalog is what I have done the last few years and had to return some. The same size in different ones are not all the same. I also like to feel the material of what I buy. Going into stores and all the walking is getting too much. I could not remember if I had chicken pox but my pharmacist tole me I shold ge t the shingles shot. Could not hurt so he gave it to me at no cost to me. At times I knew he told me the truth about new meds better than the stupid doctor I had told me. That one I think got his diploma from an online diploma mill. I think we all enjoyed the Topper series on TV. I know I enjoyed the movies, too.

MARY ANN  thank you. We had some snow flurries yesterday but nothing that stuck.

My CNA is here and keeps talking to me so I better post this before I lose it.
Have a good day.

Thank you, JUNE. You, too, are in my thoughts and prayers.

We decided to get out a bit today.  Went to a Home Depot to look at some pots for some new plants.  There is a Merdochs Home and Farm Store near there, so decided to check them out.  Wow so much stuff....  Enjoyed looking at the live chicks, turkeys and the like in cages that they sell there. I got tired and tried to sit in a chair at a display of folding chairs.....it folded on me and ripped open the end of my index finger....I am sitting on the ground with blood pouring out of my finger.....trying to get my phone out of my pocket so I could call Bob to come help me......a lady walks in the door and sees me....smiles real big and says, “how you doing” and keeps right on walking....I guess she is used to seeing little fat ladies sitting on the ground with a bleeding finger!  Bob got me up, we looked for someone to help us....ended up going out front where there were some heavy duty chairs.....about that time a fireman came walking out and said, “it looks like you could use a bit of help”?  He brought me back a couple of band aids to cover it up.....Bob went back in to tell someone about the mess on the floor....STILL could not get any ones attention so back out he came and off we headed for home. I guess I am just not safe to be out and about.

It sure has been a beautiful day out.....so nice to be able to open up the windows and doors and get some fresh air in the house.

GLORA, so happy you got to see your family to share some birthday time with them.

PHYLLIS, sure glad you had no damage from the storms in your area.  I saw news fro: the area and there was a lot of damage.

I am feeling better today....the meds have slowed the breakouts down and I am so happy I was able to get in to see the doctor last week..  My appointment was not to be until tomorrow and that would have been awful to have waited that long.  What a expierence this has been.  I guess we never think we are going to be the one that gets this kind of thing!  Sure appreciate all your f your kind words and prayers.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny, I am so sorry you had the accident with the chair and your finger.  You must have been quite a sight sitting there on the floor.  You've had more than you need the past several weeks.  I hope your finger and the shingles are coming along OK.

I came in here to try to bring some order out of the chaos on my desk and discovered that I have 12 days to get in to the photo office and get my license renewed.  I have all the paperwork and a temporary license but it all runs out the day after my birthday.  Guess I better plan that for this coming Thursday.  Now I'm tired.

Good night Everyfriend!  May all of you with ailments feel better tomorrow and may all you with no ailments stay that way.   Sleep peacefully!

Good morning everyone, 39 °got my new glasses and I can see much better now. What a day to go out. At times it was raining so hard the wipers on the car could hardly keep up. Glad I wore a warm jacket with a hood on it. Rain finally stopped about 6pm and the sky started to clear.

JUNE  I hope you feel better today.

JENNY  you sure did not need what happened to you yesterday. One would think in a store that big they would have a courtesy desk or a sales person where Bob could find someone to help you. If that was me I would never go back into that place. I did see or hear from most  of my family Sunday. Only my 2 granddaughters were missing. Hope the meds are helping you heal fast.

JANE  do they let you smile for your license picture? I always thought mine looked like a convict picture.

Looks like a very slow day here yesterday.

Sometimes I feel...
Bob Perks

Sometimes I feel that the world is too much.  God reminds me that I am a part of His world and He has much to offer.

Sometimes I feel, that as hard as I try I am nowhere near where I wanted to be at this point in my life.  God reminds me that the journey may be long but it will be worth it and I am right where He wants me to be.

Sometimes I feel that there is too much for me to do.  God reminds me that I am not doing it alone.  Take each step wisely and put things in perspective.

Sometimes I feel that there are too many mountains to climb.  God reminds me that He made the mountains so that when we reach the top we are closer to Heaven, we can see where we've been and the beauty of where we are going.

Sometimes I feel that when I am excited about life no one else around me is.  God reminds me that is why He placed me there to bring excitement to those whose lives are weary.

Sometimes I feel like God doesn't hear me.  God reminds me that He does indeed listen and respond.  It is I who blocks out His Voice when I don't like what He is saying.

Sometimes I feel that no one understands me.  God reminds me that He understands and that's all that matters.

Sometimes I feel that the world is closing in on me.  God reminds me that he is there even in the smallest spaces.

Sometimes I feel I am failing,  God reminds me with Him I cannot fail.  Delays and denials are not failures.  There are more choices, better ways to get me to where He wants me to be.

Sometimes I feel at peace.  God reminds me:

Galatians 6:16
New Life Version (NLV)
16 Those who follow this way will have God's peace and loving-kindness. They are the people of God.

Good morning everyone.

Woke to a winter wonderland this morning, all the trees are dressed in white. Can't help but smile when you see the beauty of it all. Last night I did go out and dance with the snow blower ,what a heavy mess that was to deal with. Will wait and see how to deal with this ,VON is coming today .

Jane, I tidy up my desk and then it a bit it looks like a bomb went off on it.Need to be done again as I have down loaded pattern and need to put them in a binder.

Jenny ,you have enough to deal with and didn't need that fall, hope you're not stiff and sore this morning.

Mary Ann, the snow is still falling here, hope it soon  stops.

Gloria, I guess they don't want  on to smile in their picture because if a cop pull you over, you sure wouldn't be smiling. :(

Better go see how to deal with this beautiful snow.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The weather here is cold and cloudy. At least the rain stopped.  It rained almost all day yesterday.

About smiling and licenses....around here, your picture looks like you do while you are listening to the lady (or gentleman) talk.  They don't exactly tell you when they are snapping the pic.  They say, "sit in that chair: Okay, you're done. You can wait over there."  And that's how you look for the next 4 years!

I'll be off to WM this morning.  I hope I can do short lines and lots of smiles!  I hope you all have a good day....especially Jenny....she deserves a good one right about now!

Jenny, what a vexing time you are having right now.  I'm thinking of you and hoping that the bad days are over with for now and things will only get better.  I had shingles, too, like so many here have had, and they are no fun at all but they will pass in a few days and you will feel better.  Meanwhile, pamper yourself a little and just take it easy.

Cold here this morning.  We went from a temp. of 81 deg. on Sunday down to 34 deg. last night.  But, the sun is shining this morning and that makes everything look better.  I hope the "sun is shining" on all of you today, wherever you are.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful, but cool, morning here in South Carolina.  It will remain a bit chilly throughout the morning and then warm up this afternoon into the mid-70's.  We are expecting to have a windy day as well just as we did yesterday.  I enjoyed a quiet day at home yesterday.  This morning I have a dental appointment to get the cavity filled that was found when my teeth were cleaned last month.  I have nothing else planned for the day.

Gloria, I saw where an American women won in the Boston Marathon.  I can't imagine running 26 miles in any type of weather.  I am recording the old Batman TV show on ME TV and watched a couple of them last night.  I am almost ashamed to say it but I really enjoyed it as it is so far out.  The villains are so good.  I watched two parts of a three part story.  Guess I am back into a second childhood.  I also enjoyed the old Ma and Pa Kettle movies.  It sounds like you had a nice birthday.  Glad you can see better now with your new glasses.

June, sorry that yesterday was a down day for you and hope today finds you feeling better and wanting to eat.

Jenny, that sounds like a terrible experience and glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were.  That was certainly an uncaring lady that spoke to you and walked on by.  That was nice of the fireman to help you.  Glad to read you were feeling better yesterday.

Jane, were you talking about the photo taken at the DMV for your drivers license.  I hope you get those short lines today and friendly people.

Amy, do you download and print off a lot of quilting patterns?  Pat has a lot of those and am sure she has no idea of what she has in the notebooks.  However, it makes her happy and that is what is important.  Hope you get some better weather up your way today.

Lloyd, I expect a number of us here can relate to getting somewhere and then wondering why we went to that spot.  I start to do something and then get distracted and forget to do what I started to do.  Hope you have an enjoyable day.

Phyllis, you were much colder last night than we were here in South Carolina as it only got into the 40's.

I have gotten old and my blood is thinner than it used to be. also my bode parts do not work like they used to. Have a good day.

AMY  If I had your zip cod and address I would google you when you are doing the snow blower thing. the other day a fellow called me on the phone talking about Solar Panels for electricity. and zoomed in on me he was able to see all my junk and cattle in the lot. that is intersecting and also scare. I am having a hard time getting in the mood to get out and going to work. but I am on my way, sun is shinning bright and temp. is up to 50º now light braze. so best get the cows fed and go to work in shop for a while. Have a great day,

Jenny, where I lived before I started a program for getting help,  as they did not have the emergencey buttons we have here, and we furnished whistles for all the residents. I would bet that us you had a sharp whistle to blow, while sitting on the floor, bleeding, you would  have received emergency help in a big hurry. I still feel each of us should wear a whistle if we do not have the  emergency button. They are inexpensive and would certainly draw immediate attention. That fireman should have been fired.

Gloria, what a difference a day makes. I feel great today, but I am so sorry I missed wishing you a Happy Birthday. I sounds very Happy though with all the family remembrances and others here. I am so happy for you dear friend.

I am going to scoot down for supper. Had a light lunch at home so will enjoy a full dinner tonight, then home to relax. See you later.

Good morning everyone, 32°. I could see frost on the cars when I pulled up the shades. Is this cold ever going away this spring? Doe not seem that way. At least we did have one nice spring day last week, glad I went outside to enjoy it. Still wearing winter jackets around here. First thing I saw when I turned the TV and my PC on this morning was about Barbara Bush going home to God. 92 years old. The next thing was about the wake for a policeman on Cape Cod who was shot last week. So young and one of the good ones. He was a K9 officer and his dog was shot but survived and starting to do good.

AMY  looking out in the morning on fresh fallen snow when every thing is white and beautiful is a sight I never get tired of seeing but only in the winter months. My desk is getting piled up with papers again, does not take long to get messy.  Right, in those pictures you always look like you were caught doing something bad and if a cop stops you maybe you were doing wrong.

JANE  right-sit there and by the time I look at where I am going to sit and finally sit look up and they snap.

LLOYD  I have help to keep my apartment clean but no one better touch a thing in the area where the computer is. If they moved anything on the desk I would never know where to find it again. On the news just now they showed an 18 wheeler going down a road and all the snow on top blew off and hit a car going the other way and causing damage.

PHYLLIS  looks like we will have sunshine here today but rain in store for tomorrow AGAIN.

LARRY  I enjoy ed the old Ma and Pa Kettle movies. That Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride were perfect in their roles as that couple. That old Batman TV series with the Bam Pow, was it Holy Cow Batman that Robin always said?

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to Amy's beautiful view. That is the kind of picture I put on my desktop on a hot summer day.

AMY I could sit and look out on a view like that all day. Thanks for sharing.

JUNE  to me my birthday is just another day. I never liked making a big deal of it. I have a whistle and it is with my keys that are with me at all times, always close to my hands. Glad your are feeling better.

JANE  how wonderful to get the video clip of Emma. Make it seem more real and closer doesn't  it? My grandson has sent me a few of them of my great grandson.

Have a good day.

What Would I Do?
Author Unknown

"Everything's perfect," Dr. Stewart said.

Dr. William Stewart is my wife's doctor. She asked me to come along for her routine checkup. She feels better when I go with her. Dr. Stewart has been my wife's doctor during the years that we have been married.

I looked at Dr. Stewart. He was vibrant; his skin was as smooth as a baby's and his face radiant. Dr. Stewart actually looked younger than he did years ago. One of his sons is a doctor in the same specialty as his father.

"When are you going to retire?" my wife asked in conversation.

"I'm not going to retire," Dr. Stewart promptly answered without even stopping to think about it. "What would I do?" he added.

"I've bought and sold several boats, I don't want another one. I don't want a house in the mountains. I have more patients now than I did when I was younger. I have everything that I want now. What would I do if I retired?"

After dealing with many in both business and ministry, I have become more sensitive to real reasons, the underlying motivation behind the statements. I understood what he was saying. I could feel his spirit in that simple question.

"What would I do?"

Most people dread going to work. Dr. Stewart cherishes it.

Most look forward to being able to do nothing. Dr. Stewart looks forward to another day helping patients.

Most look at the clock counting the minutes until quitting time. Dr. Stewart wishes there were more hours in the day.

Being a doctor is not a breeze. Doctors have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. It is strenuous and demanding. Doctors also have one of the highest rates of personal satisfaction of any profession; it just depends on the doctor.

Joy always depends much more on the person than the profession.

Dr. Stewart is happily married with four successful children; work is not an escape, it is a passion. There is a big difference.

Passion helps keep you young, in both mind and body. It usually shows on the outside when you have passion on the inside about something good.

To be able to do something each day that you are passionate about is a blessing beyond price.

It is like being paid to play.

The average person spends more time involved with work than anything else. Adding the time at work, getting ready for work, and getting to and from work, we average 12 hours a day. With eight hours of sleep, we spend 75% of our waking hours for work.

What a blessing to WANT to work, even if you didn't have to.

Imagine getting up each morning with an enthusiasm to get to work. Imagine an enthusiasm to get home to your family.

At work and at home, you are fulfilled and have no desire to retire from or change either.

So fulfilled that you couldn't imagine wanting anything else.

Imagine that.

Oh ! It is so nice to see the sun shining this morning.  It is still a little windy and only in the low 30's, but hopefully,  will get a little warmer later in the day.

June, I am so happy to read where you felt good enough to go down for your dinner last night.  I know that everyone enjoyed your being with them.

Nothing special going on today, so far.  Will have to see what the rest of the day brings.

Just wanted to say Good Morning, and hope that everyone will have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  Another clear sky this morning and temperatures headed up to the mid-80's this afternoon.  I did get my tooth filled yesterday and it took only about 30 minutes.  This evening we will go to the Church for a chili dinner.  Scott and I may go to the hardware store for a new latch for your wooden fence in back.  It has shifted and the installed latch doesn't work well.  I plan on a simple hook type fastener so the gate stays shut. He said he would come on out this morning and install it for me although I haven't heard anything from him this morning and he may be sleeping in.

Lloyd, when I see pictures like the one that Bubble posted for Amy it sure makes me happy to live here in the South where we get little if any snow during the winter. The fellow that zoomed in on you was probably using the Google Earth program.  It is quite amazing.

Amy, hope you didn't have to get out and drive in that snow yesterday.  I know you had your snow tires removed but did you keep them on your husband's car?

June, so happy to see your were feeling great yesterday and hope today is the same and that you were up to having the full dinner.

Jane, those pictures and videos of the baby are the next best thing to being there.  Hope you found many smiles in your line this morning.

Gloria, I have always admired Barbara Bush as she seemed to be the type of person who said what she thought.  I have a feeling she pulled the strings in her family and will be greatly missed.  She certainly had a full and interesting life.  How sad that another policeman was killed.  This seems to be a daily thing anymore.  I have a waste basket right by my desk and have to empty it at least twice a week as get so much paper that has to be thrown away.  Yes, that is the Batman.  I watched an old Carol Burnett show that was 30 minutes long and featured two or three skits.  One of them was Carol and Tim Conway as Mrs. Wiggins and My. Tudbolt.  I can't remember when I have had such good laughs.

Joy, glad you posted and Good Morning to you.  Stay warm.

A good Wednesday HELLO.

We had terrible damaging winds here in the Mile High City yesterday.  No damage here at our place but there were many huge trees topped over all around the city.  Stuff was flying off of buildings and landing on cars.....thankfully no injuries to any people that I heard of.

JUNE, I appreciate your suggestions for keeping a whistle handy....that is a great idea and could be a saving grace to many situations.  I am sure happy to read you are feeling a bit more chipper and getting out and about.

My “nerve pain” continues however there is no evidence of any more eruptions so I hope and pray the worse of this shingle outbreak is behind me.  I had a very uncomfortable night with the same back pain that started all of this.  I can see this ordeal is a individual thing and we all seem to suffer in different ways.  Someone commented that they were surprised that I was getting out and about.....plain and simple truth is, you hurt all the time, so at least when you are doing something it kind of takes your mind off of it and I think that is better for me than just sitting here feeling sorry for myself.  I do think that I am very lucky on that my actual break is in the middle of my higher back and not in my waist line like many have.

I wish you all a good day.

Jenny

Jenny, I do have the perfect way to get help, trust me, people will stop in their tracks... check this out with Amazon... I have several different styles attached to purses & key chains... and one attached to the small mace.  Hey, you know I am out & about so want one handy if needed!  I accidentally sent one off in Sam's Club one time & quickly shut it up, but everyone around wanted to see it & where did I get it???  I keep one attached inside my purse with the pull tab so I can reach should a purse snatcher grab it (we have had some stores & parking lots where older women have had problems... always one of the nice areas where you get used to being safe.   :o

https://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Personal-EXTREME-Premium-Portable/dp/B077BVDNMX/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_bs_lp_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PQXNE6M3G3FT0EJ3XZQ5 (https://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Personal-EXTREME-Premium-Portable/dp/B077BVDNMX/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_bs_lp_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PQXNE6M3G3FT0EJ3XZQ5)

You really have had a rough time lately and you know I can only keep my mouth shut so long.... so here I go.... you know I've been preaching the merits of vitamin B-1 for shingles & the brown spider bite... it is for nerve endings... and really did HALT the pain of my shingles immediately.  I was surprised when mine broke out and noticed that if I drank something ice cold the spots would feel like I put an ice cube against my skin, if I sipped hot coffee they felt like I put a cigarette on them.  By the time I had the Dr confirm the spots were shingles & she said "they use the same medication as for a brown spider bite... what was I going to do?...."  I went home & popped a 100 mg of B-1 & soaked the spots with Epsom salt... stopped 'em cold & ever since (30 years) when I get the special feeling of one breaking out, I hit the vitamins.  My best friend my age has the same good results with  L-Lysine Tablets from Walmart (about $5.00).  Since the B-1 worked for the spider bite & my shingles... I haven't tried the lysine.  Do hope you get relief soon.

My neighbor died yesterday, she was ready to go and a relief to all that loved her that her pain is over.  She will be missed.

I took time out to go down to the river before dark last night, always something new to enjoy.  As I watched the herons & egrets lift into the air as I walked up to the bank, I looked down to watch the fish, they are skittish this year and not coming right to my feet, must be they feel safer with the overhanging willows along the bank.  Anyway, one little muskrat came swimming past & looked up at me without fear and another came up right behind it real friendly like.  I looked close to make sure it wasn't young beaver but had skinny tails.  The beaver are working over time on the willows, fixing up their dens.  After 30 years I never have been able to spot the  dens, not even after walking the bank on the other side.

The down side of my wilderness is I found a tick on my leg the other day.  I noticed a spot on my shin one day, thought it was blood & wondered where I hit it but didn't look close.  Taking a shower the spot moved ... was sort of loose.  Had a sinking feeling what it was so tried several things to convince it to back out & gave up & pulled it out with tweezers & covered with antibiotic ointment.  It had at least 24 hours to fatten up so hope it didn't carry any bad disease. When I went down last night I slipped on my knee high boots & sprayed them with bug stuff.... Sure was not cold enough this winter to get rid of bugs & all those yucky things that bite.  Got the flea & tick stuff on all 3 cats & am considering a flea collar for each of my legs, you think?  Life on the River in Kansas.

Jenny, I sure hope you are feeling better. I have almost the same story to tell you. When I went to buy my new TV in PC Richard of course I had to go to the back of the store.  Picked the TV I wanted then had to make all the papers out back there, then was told I had to go to the front of the store to the office. I guess to finish paper work. My friend said she would go ahead and get things started, as I was tired and walking very slow with the cane.  Half way up to the front my knee just gave out and I fell.  One of the employees came by and ask what I was doing on the floor???????(picture a 90 year old women on the floor) My friend Rima came running back, got a chair, by that time my wrist was twice its size, Rima ask for ice, which I never got. No one called a manager, to make and incident report.  Which everybody said I should have got.  All I wanted to do was go home.  I should have gone and had my wrist checked out, but after a week of ice it started to get better. That was a couple of years ago. Of course I have the TV.

My mother had a whistle she would blow, when I was out playing which could be heard all over the neighborhood. One of the banks gave out whistles for women to carry in case they saw something troubling.

Another tip on whistles......the attacker would be frighted away too....he, she, it....does not know "who" the whistler blower is. It could be the police.

I wrote a length message this morning, then deleted  it...DUH !! To tired to do it over again. I'll try to do better tomorrow . your dumb friend, June.

SHIRLEY, the Emergency Personal Alarm has been ordered from Amazon.  I do not have any Vit. B1, but I will be out buying it tomorrow. I will check out the Lysine just to be safe!  Thank you!  My steroids will end tomorrow so I think I will be just in time to start the Vit. B1. I have not been aware of my blisters having any feeling per se, like you explained.  All I know is I am so thankful that there has not been anymore spreading of the rash at all.  The pain was much worse last night than it has been in a couple of days but it settled down this afternoon and is now bareable.

You are right, GLORIA de, your expierence was like mine.  I am sorry to read that this happened to you.

JUNE, a whistle is something that we all should have.  WE MUST be prepared at all time.

I am going to head off to bed, it was not a very restful night last night.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning Everyfriend!  We're in "wait" mode for the doggies pills and also for making a fresh batch of dog food.  (Dog food made)

Later today, I'm making West African Inspired Sweet Potato, Turkey and Peanut Soup.  That's my "try it" for this week.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Jenny, I'm glad you're feeling better and I sympathize with you that you weren't able to get help.  I remember, not too long ago, a lady ended up on the floor at the check out next to mine and within seconds, there were 6 WM Associates there to help....including one who is a trained paramedic.  I was impressed!  And since the local hospital is only minutes away and our own paramedic has a connection, the ambulance was there in less than 15 minutes.

I want to post this before the boinger goes off to feed the doggies.  Everyone have a lovely day!  We're supposed to have more rain  :( :-\

Good morning everyone 37.° Dentist appointment,  just for a cleaning this time. Monday had to go out and it was pouring, today have to go out and again it is raining. Wonder if Mother Nature thinks the rain will make me grow? Just because I am vertically challenged and shrinking more it will help me? Nah.

JANE  I have the town car for a ride today and it is only about a 10 minute ride but how I hate going out in weather like this. When I was young I loved walking in the rain.

JOY  it was sunny here yesterday but windy and not much above freezing. Just heard on local news it was snowing in this area but I don't see any white flakes.

LARRY  Watching some of what they showed on TV about the police men and women who attended the wake and funeral for that officer I never saw so many from all over the country. I know for everyone killed in the line of duty they come from all over to attend and there is always a lot of them but this time it looked like more than I ever saw before. In Mass. they are talking about bringing back the death sentence for anyone who kills a policeman. Just heard his dog was released from the hospital. Looking at the poor dog his eyes looked so sad. Other photos of him he looked so alert. I think everyone liked Barbara Bush. She was a loving LADY. Cannot say that about most  first ladies. Those old shows did make us laugh, so glad we can still see some of them on TV.

LLOYD  some people do hot realize how hard it is for those big trucks to stop fast. I have see some cars pass them and pull in front of them and wonder how stupid they are.

JUNE   hope you keep feeling better. Days like this here I would like to stay in bed all day but have to go out in the rain for the second time this week.

JENNY  you are right, being out with others takes our minds off how we feel.

SHIRLEY  good idea. The way you travel all over alone it is a big safety measure for you. I do have a whistle my daughter sent me and it is close to my hand at all times. I heard that ticks will be bad here this year, winter was not cold enough to freeze them. We only had a few really cold days but not zero and below.

GLORIA de  these days I am never anywhere alone when I go out. I do have a fear of falling so am very careful when I walk and of course can only walk with my rollator.

JUNE  you are NOT dumb my friend. We all have deleted or lost posts.

JENNY  hope you had a better night last night.

AMY  NO MORE SNOW WANTED for any of us till winter is here. According to the calendar this is spring but does not feel like it.

JANE  it is raining here. Weather guesser said it would be here for 24 hours.

"When the Time Comes"

By Bob Perks

My father always taught me that without realizing it, you
will always be ready for anything...when the time comes.

Surely there will be things that happen that will shock
you, even knock you off your feet.

Yes, there will be both unexpected loss and incredibly
surprising joy.

It may take some time to get over it, but somehow you
always will get through it.

Look back at your life.  Think about all those things
that brought you to your knees.  Think about how
many times you said "I can't do this!"

Yet, here you are.

Why?  How did you ever get through it?

You are greater than any challenge.

You are more powerful than any storm in life.

You are capable of overcoming more than you think you can.

You are far more able to take charge of things than you know.

Inside each of us the exists a built in system created to
help us respond to any situation.

In extreme cases it is called the "Fight or Flight"
response.  That really puts us in over drive and removes
all logic and rationale..just survival.

Emotional, cognitive and physical responses are used more often.
We were created that way.

So, "when the time comes" you are already prepared to find
a way through, over, around or under any obstacle.

When the time comes, every cell in your body was designed
to automatically kick in to do their part.

The only thing that over rides this system is our failure to
trust those instincts.

The one who shuts down the system does not exist externally.

No one outside ourselves has that power unless we give it to them.

God created this magnificent system among all the other miraclous
functions that occur in our bodies so that "when the time comes"
we are fully capable of dealing with anything.

If you are struggling know that when the time comes you will win.

If you are lost, know that when the time comes you will find yourself
again.

If you are hurting know that when the time comes you will find relief.

Accept it.  Believe it.

When the time comes, you will make it through whatever life throws at you.

Hi Everyone. It is already 68 degrees outside to start the morning but is suppose to get to only 76 degrees this afternoon.  Yesterday was one of those down days I have every so often when I was so tired I didn't feel like doing anything except what had to be done.  I laid down for two hours in the late morning and then after a quick lunch laid down again for another two hours or so.  We did meet Scott at the Church for dinner and then he came out and spent about 3 hours with us.

I will be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility later this morning and we will go to coffee.  I have several errands I want to run either before I pick him up or after but none of them should take very long.  Later this afternoon Pat and I plan on going to Ruby Tuesday's to take advantage of their buy one and get one entree.  It has been a few days since we have been there and that coupon is just too good to pass up.  That will be our main meal of the day.  I guess it is my Scottish heritage coming to play.

Lloyd, we live off of a frontage road for I-20 and I see so many trucks on it anytime I can view the road or drive on it.  I know we are dependent on trucks for our way of life so am glad they are there. Glad it is you dealing with the bees and not me.

Jenny, glad you didn't have damage from the winds in your area. While I love trees I am glad we have none that can fall on our house.  The discussion about whistles reminds me that last evening at dinner the children's sack meal that the kitchen always prepares usually has some kind of little toy and last night it was a whistle with a very sharp sound.  When several of the kids discovered them they started blowing them but soon that stopped as I expect the parents weren't excited about it.  I hope your nerve pain will soon be over and the suggestions that Shirley offered will help.  I agree that sometimes the best thing is to keep busy and put ones mind to other things.

Shirley, those are good suggestions for dealing with the nerve pain.  I will check out the link you provided. Sorry that you have lost another friend but it sounds like she was ready to give up the fighting.  Since I grew up on the farm I am very familiar with ticks.  However, I don't think back then they were as dangerous as they are nice with the Lyme Disease. It sounds like you almost have your own nature park by the river.

deAngel, there certainly should have been an incident report prepared by the store where you fell and also where Jenny fell.  Your incident wasn't the fault of the store, although they have liability for anything happening on their property just as we do on our property.

June, good point about the whistle.  I remember when you organized your committee and instituted the whistle program where you were living.  Sorry you lost your long message.

Amy, that was a pretty quick turn around on fixing your husband's hearing aid.  Hope your roads are clear by now.

Jane, that sounds like an interesting recipe.  It sounds like your Walmart has a well trained staff to deal with emergencies.  Do you receive special training on dealing with such events?

Gloria, I hope your dental appointment goes well and you hit some stops in the rain while you have to be out.  Does the town car help you with the rollator?  Police forces are very supportive of other policemen.  We saw a lot of this around Atlanta with long motorcades.  There is obviously a strong bond among policemen whether they know each other personally or not.  I have always felt that Laura Bush was also very much a lady.  It can't be an easy job to be a First Lady.

Good Morning from the coldish and over
cast rocky coast of Maine.

Still waiting for Spring to come and stay!!

I am sorry to hear about Barbara Bush passing.
She has had a remarkable life.

I think that most of the First Ladies have done
a wonderful job...  And made this country very proud
of them.      Funny how the First Ladies always
seem to rate higher then their spouses.   :knuppel2:

I hope that everyone has a nice day...

Larry, there is no special training given for emergency situations.  We do have to take a Computer Based Learning course in dealing with all kinds of emergencies.  We renew this every year.  We are, however, blessed to have two trained volunteer EMTs on our staff.  One works days and the other works nights.

And with the hospital just minutes away, we have that advantage also.  I always say that if I'm going to collapse at WM, I hope it's not on Sharon's day off!  She's been a volunteer with the ambulance crew for almost 20 years.

My doggie groomer is here and my doggies are getting baths and haircuts.  I think they like it better doing that right here than going to the shop.  I know I do!

Jenny, I take a Super B Complex tablet each day.  I read long ago that we cannot store Vitamin B but must take some each day.  I imagine B1 would be the same.

Someone mentioned Barbara Bush and I read a couple of headlines in the news of people calling her a racist and something else.  My thought was "at the time of a death, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything".  I know both she and her husband came from affluent backgrounds, but she seemed like such a "down-to-earth" person and I'll continue to think of her that way.

I hope you feel stronger for a few days, Larry, it must be aggravating to not feel up to par when you need to do something.

I'll have to search for golf today as I don't know where they'll play.  Not every tour is a major tournament and not all "names" play in all important tournaments.

What a great day!!! First while checking the mail box we saw a pileated woodpecker fly onto the hydo pole and fly away in front of us. Next when almost to the city we saw an osprey fly to his/her nest hanging on to a fish. Meet an old friend just outside the hearing place and stopped to chat a bit after getting a dandy hug!! On the way home I had to stop to let some turkeys cross the road, the fist batch I did blow my horn at but they paid no attention, think Tom T Turkey was more interesting lol. The next go a turkeys flew in front of us, making us slow down along with traffic behind us

Larry, I too hope no more snow but it was lightly snowing on our way to the city, sun is out now and snowing has stopped. Hope that is it.

Ah, Amy, that sounds like a perfect day!  Nothing man ever made compares with Mother Nature's world!

Mary Ann, my mother took B-complex vitamins when I was young but later was told that she needed B-12 instead.... and I found the 100 mg of B-1 will keep mosquitoes away (for adults) for at least 5 hours.  That is also the mg I used for shingles & the brown spider bite.  This year I couldn't find anything but the 250 from Puritan Pride online so I held out until they got it back in.

When we first moved to Wichita we rented a house with a big yard (all houses were on half acres or acres), lots of trees & evergreens... ticks & mosquitoes. The old pharmacist at the closest drug store came to our rescue by explaining, "we could either get a prescription from the doctor or take the Thiamine Hydrochloride (B1)  that was in the prescription that the mosquitoes didn't like".  He explained we should take with our supper so strongest when the kids played outside in the evening, 100 mg for adult, 50 mg for medium size kid & 25 mg for the 3 year old... the baby didn't go out. The kids had no problem swallowing pills and that ended the kids looking like they had some horrible disease on every part of their face or body.  I guess like everything, it works for some and not for others.  My family never travels without it.

By the way, for anyone considering one of the personal alarms... they work even if you have the wind knocked out of you & can't blow a whistle or yell.... just pull the little plug out & it screeches...  put it back in & it shuts up.  With my purse I make sure the screecher will stay inside the purse & no way a thief could shut it up if I have the "pin" in my hand, I expect they would drop the purse fast.  My first introduction to these things was years ago when I bought a box of larger ones that used 9V batteries.  All the man running the estate sale could say was "they are some kind of security things".  My son explained & I shared some of them with him & his wife. As time went on I discovered the smaller ones that fit on key chains or slipped into a pocket.  For sure they will get attention.

Larry, had to grin at the monitor when you mentioned "from MO & knowing about ticks".... remember how big they would get on the bird dogs that people used to have?  My youngest brother told me that was what was in Grandma's prune cake... can you imagine???  Even though I knew he was teasing it was a nightmare trying to eat even a tiny piece.  Back in those days we didn't say we did not want something (that would be rude) and Grandma's prune cake was considered the best cake in the world..... (if you were an adult).

And now it's time to visit the river.  I got most of my pampas grass cut down & tied up today, several small jobs taken care of & made 2 loaf pans of meat loaf that I baked in the oven.  House smells good & my tummy is full, the wind is still blowing but not TOO cold.

Hope everyone has had a good day, we gotta keep on keeping on!

Good morning everyone..

Not a a lot on the agenda other than meeting my friend's husband in town to pick up some fabric that we had ordered. Need to corral those darn dust bunnies but hope to get that done before we leave for town.

Lloyd sounds like you're going to be busy with bees and honey this coming summer.

June, I think we all get confusing days but soon everything rights its self.
Jenny sorry you had a rough night, would a bath in baking soda or Epsom salts help?

Shirley, Mother Nature can keep me entertained ,there is so much to see if only one looks. I can almost smell that meat loaf cooking and can only imagine meat loaf sandwiches..

Jane, hope you have a wonderful day today..

I hear my washing machine calling me, one load is done.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yesterday was a busy day!  I just seemed to keep moving and not getting anywhere.  It started with remembering that the doggie groomer was coming at 10 and it was nine and I wasn't dressed and ready for her.

The doggies are now beautiful, clean and neat.  They should stay that way for...oh say another hour or two!

I made the East African Sweet Potato, Tomato and Peanut soup. It's definitely different from anything I've ever made before and it was good. tool  I have almost 3 quarts left.  I'll stick some in the Hidey Hole so you all can try it today.

Have to get moving.  We're waiting for the boinger for the doggies pills and I need to get some other stuff done before I go to work at 10.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend.

OOPS!  Forgot to tell you, my neighbor's "mooching geese" were waiting outside her fence yesterday.  Just walking back and forth and waiting to be noticed.

Good morning everyone, 31° and frost is on the cars again. BUT the sun is shining for a change and no rain for today. At least it was not raining as hard yesterday when I went to the dentist. Just a cleaning and no new cavities. The girl I get there who does that job is so good. 6 n=months ago when I went I had a different one and boy talk about hurting. Then I found out the regular one had just lost her husband, had an accident on his way to work in the morning. They have 2 sons but old enough to know their Mom needed their support, 21 and 18 years of age. Funny how you can get attached to someone you see only every 6 months.

LARRY  before I left yesterday had a phone call that my CNA would not be here today. Good because the day after I go anywhere all I want to do is lay on the couch and doze the day away. The town car gals who drive are both great. They take turns. Three days with the car and Wednesday and Friday they drive a bus that picks up people at the senior housing places and takes them to a drug store and market in town and one day they take them to a big shopping center in the next town. At times they have someone in a wheel chair and they have to use the bus for that. Only once they had the bus when they came for me and made sure I could get up the steps. They handle the rollator like it weighs 2 pounds. The stay and wait for us and like the day with the bus I knew it would take longer for me and they left to take the man where he had to go and waited for him and were waiting for me when  I got out.

JANE  wonderful that a dog groomer goes to homes. The dogs are familiar with their homes and no anxiety of going to the groomers.

MARY ANN  I thought that Barbara Bush was the most down to earth first lady we have had. Like you I will always think of her that way. She was not one of those looking to be in the news.

AMY  love to see wild life when out driving as long as it is not a deer running in front of a car and getting hit. That happens often around here. When I first moved to this town if anyone saw a deer it was news but now they are a pests. Just heard on the news a man was attacked by a coyote. Something else that never were around here. Black bears have been sighted, too. When I think back to how we used to hike in the woods here, now it is not safe.

JUNE  a couple of weeks ago I had all my days messed up and not knowing what day I was on.

JENNY  hope you had a better sleep last night. Not good when we don't get the sleep we need.

LLOYD  good luck with your bees. Would like getting some of their honey.

JANE  does your neighbor feed those geese?

Have a good day.

Weeping With Pride
(Author Unknown)

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through.

Every day, my husband and his brothers would go about the arduous process of trying to get water to the fields.

Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water rendering plant and filling it up with water. But severe rationing had cut everyone off. If we didn't see some rain soon, we would lose everything.

It was on this day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and witnessed the only miracle I have seen with my own eyes. I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my six-year-old son, Billy, walking toward the woods.

He wasn't walking with the usual carefree abandon of a youth but with a serious purpose. I could only see his back. He was obviously walking with a great effort...trying to be as still as possible.

Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house. I went back to making sandwiches; thinking that whatever task he had been doing was completed.

Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that slow purposeful stride toward the woods. This activity went on for an hour: walk carefully to the woods, run back to the house.

Finally I couldn't take it any longer and I crept out of the house and followed him on his journey (being very careful not to be seen as he was obviously doing important work and didn't need his Mommy checking up on him).

He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked; being very careful not to spill the water he held in them...maybe two or three tablespoons were held in his tiny hands. I sneaked close as he went into the woods.

Branches and thorns slapped his little face but he did not try to avoid them. He had a much higher purpose.

As I leaned in to spy on him, I saw the most amazing site.

Several large deer loomed in front of him. Billy walked right up to them. I almost screamed for him to get away. A huge buck with elaborate antlers was dangerously close. But the buck did not threaten him - he didn't even move as Billy knelt down.

And I saw a tiny fawn laying on the ground, obviously suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, lift its head with great effort to lap up the water cupped in my beautiful boy's hand.

When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house and I hid behind a tree. I followed him back to the house; to a spigot that we had shut off the water to.

Billy opened it all the way up and a small trickle began to creep out. He knelt there, letting the drip drip slowly fill up his makeshift "cup", as the sun beat down on his little back. And it came clear to me. The trouble he had gotten into for playing with the hose the week before. The lecture he had received about the importance of not wasting water. The reason he didn't ask me to help him.

It took almost twenty minutes for the drops to fill his hands. When he stood up and began the trek back, I was there in front of him. His little eyes just filled with tears. "I'm not wasting," was all he said.

As he began his walk, I joined him...with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him tend to the fawn. I stayed away. It was his job. I stood on the edge of the woods watching the most beautiful heart I have ever known working so hard to save another life. As the tears that rolled down my face began to hit the ground, they were suddenly joined by other drops...and more drops...and more. I looked up at the sky. It was as if God, himself, was weeping with pride. Weeping With Pride

Amy, did the Amherstburg earthquake reach you?  It was not a large earthquake and only reached to the Lansing area in Michigan, not to my area.  It's very unusual to have an earthquake in this part of the world.

Gloria, what a "teary" story this morning.  Loved it.

Hi Everyone.  Our day is starting out cool and it looks like 70 will be our high for the day.  The housekeeper will be here this morning and I am going to bring Elizabeth out for a couple of hours so she can do some work for us straitening the attack and helping take some things to the attic from the garage.  She called me this morning and wanted to come and do some work.  That will be pretty much for today.

Yesterday I got a letter from my cardiologist saying she was moving joining a cardiac group in Aiken.  I don't want to go clear to Aiken to see her and certainly don't want to go into that hospital if needed sometime in the future.  She did recommend one of the cardiologist in the group she is leaving so will call this morning and schedule and appointment to replace the one I have scheduled with her in July.

Jane, you are fortunate to have the trained EMTs working at Walmart.  I think many places use the Computer Based Learning courses to train employees.  Nice you can have your dogs trimmed right at home as it has to be less stressful for them.  Thanks for sharing the special soup you made.  Will you be keeping the recipe?

Mary Ann, I certainly agree with you that when a person dies is certainly not an appropriate time to criticize them.  I was feeling much better yesterday and ran quite a few errands as well as later in the day going to Ruby Tuesday's for our main meal of the day and so far today I am OK.  I checked the golf schedule and see they are in Texas and most of the big names are not playing this week.

Amy, it has been quite awhile since I last saw a woodpecker.  The only osprey I have ever seen were in Florida.  There are apparently a lot of wild turkeys in the surrounding area of where I live but have never seen any of them since moving here.  What does your washing machine say when it calls you?  :)  I do hope you get those dust bunnies under control.

Shirley, since I am usually only outside in the mornings and take my B Complex vitamins in the mornings I shouldn't have to worry about mosquitoes.  Our city does spray for mosquitoes in the summer months.  We are checking out the personal alarms.  Is the alarm sound pretty loud?  Pat was checking into them yesterday and had watched a video and said the alarm wasn't very loud.  I reminded her she was controlling the volume of the video.  I do remember how big the ticks would get on the dogs.  Your brother was onery in telling you the Grandmother's prune cake contained ticks.

June, just think you get to have two Fridays this week.  :)

Jenny, sure hope you were able to rest better last night.  Sorry to read that Wednesday night wasn't a good one for you.

Lloyd, it sounds like that bee was really mad at you but guess it was just doing what bees are suppose to do in terms of the sting.

Amy, what does your washing machine say when it calls you?  :)  I do hope you get those dust bunnies under control.

Gloria, sure hope the shock of seeing the sun today won't be too disturbing.  Congratulations on having no new cavities.  Those are the words I always want to hear my dentist say.  Glad the trip to the dentist went well and it sounds like you have caring ladies who drive you.  That was a really touching story you shared for today.

Good morning.......I feel so much better after a good night of rest.  Thank you all for the good wishes❣️

Today is the 19th anniversary of the dreadful Columbine High School massacre.  After this happening, I personally hoped and prayed this could and would NEVER happen again.......we all know the rest of the story.😢

Today we also have to unfortunately deal with the huge annual display of idiots smoking pot in public in our beautiful park in downtown Denver!  I sure hope they clean up afterwards better than they did last year.  It sure seems to me that these people should have SOMETHING much better to do with their time than this😩!

LLOYD, loved reading about you getting your bees....except when you got to the part of being stung!

GLORIA, I remember well reading WEEPING WITH PRIDE when Our Joan posted it.  Thank you for sharing it again...... Sure isnice to have someone clean your teeth that can get the job done with out hurting you.  Enjoy your day of peace and quiet with out your CNA there bugging you!

AMY, safe travels to town today to pick up your fabric.  I do not do baths, so soaking in ebsom salts does not work for me, but I do use a cloth soaked in them under my heating pad on occasions if it is aspot that can work.

LARRY, you will have a lot of activity going on at your place today.  Happy you have people to help you out.  I hope the new cardio doctor will meet your needs.  There seems to be a lot of doctors changing locations these days.

JANE, are the “mooching geese” at the neighbors home just returning
after winter?  I do like the fact your groomer comes to you to groom your babies.

JUNE DEAR..... I hope this day will prove to be a good one for you.

I wis EVERYFRIEND a good Friday, no matter what you find yourself doing.

Jenny

The geese are returns.  2 years ago Cheri fed them and they kept coming back.  Then they actually built a nest in her garden area and let her feed them while she hatched her young.  It was quite a sight to see.  He stood just out of reach and very near to his lady until the food was down and she had gone back inside, then he joined her for the food.

I'm home from work, ready to rest.  I'm eating more of the West African soup but I thought it was a bit bland last night so today I gave it some cagun flair with a little hot pepper and a little Asian flair with some Soy sauce.  I like it a lot better this way.

Gee, it's still morning and I feel the whole day has been filled up to over flowing. My cleaning lady arrived early and did the usual good job.. then when she finished my laundry was delivered ! Wow ! Talk about service !! For 55 dollars a month laundry is picked up weekly, delivered the next day. All on hangers or folded neatly, socks rolled in pairs, linen scarfs/doiles folded neatly. I feel like a queen. I really needed help though, as this new washer they bought is a puzzle to operate and not sufficient for the many that use it.

Time for me to go for lunch. see yu later. June.

Not a “goof”at all, JUNE.  YOU are covering all bases....some of us like color others are black and white!  Hahaha.

I sure wondered about your soup, JANE when I read the ingredients....really did wish I could taste it! Sounds like you doctored it up good to meet up to your taste buds. Cute story about the geese coming back. What fun.

We are going to meet Brian and Cathy for dinner tonight to celebrate her Birthday that was back on the 8th.  We look forward to seeing them as it has been much too long.

Enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

What a lovely day, a real treat to not have snow!! Temp is 44 ° F at the moment and snow is melting. I shovelled off my clothesline stand ..again.  and hope to hang laundry out in the morning.

Larry, I guess it knows my name or rather how to push my buttons :)

Mary Ann, no we didn't feel it up here, last one we had was in 2013 , it was a 5.2 and it did shake the house.

Jane, that must be a sight to see, hope you are taking some photos of the goosey gathering.

Enjoy your evening everyone..

The typing errors..hitting the wrong keys and other stupid stuff. And sleep.....I sleep more hours than I am awake. I'm not seeking sympathy, I am simply letting you know where this old gal is failing. I have been blessed with a  long and interesting life so I want no sad songs set for me, just lots of happy loving memories, and Loving all of you......what a joy !!!!!

No pictures of the goose gathering AMY.  I heard about it second hand.  It happened, not last summer but the summer before.  I just saw two geese standing outside the fence a couple days ago.  I haven't had a chance to talk to Cheri to see if she's feeding them this year.

I wish you all a good night.  I'm off to early bed tonight.  Tomorrow, I have to remember to get to the photo license office to get my license renewed.  It's only open Friday and Saturday and I can't go next week.

You're right, JENNY, the seasonings did bring the soup up to my liking.  It was OK before but it's lots better (in my opinion) this way.

Almost forgot to say, JJNE, we don't care HOW you post.  We just like it when you do.  Don't worry, we're good at sorting out what everyone means.  We love you!

Looking to be a lovely day here and soon will have laundry out on the line. I didn't pick up my fabric yesterday as her hubby flew out the door without it. He is coming back into town today so I may go in and get it..

June ,Mycheal is right, we will take you any ole day and any way, just as long as you post.

Jane, I heard ducks go over, then crows started calling for their breakie and then the pup (Babe) decided I need to be up and laid across me and poked her nose in my face! Yes, time to get up.

Jenny, hope you  enjoyed your dinner with Brian and Cathy. Nothing like great company and great food .

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Saturday morning.   It is a pretty sunny morning, but still only in the 30's.   Hoping for it to warm up a little bit more.

I am waiting to hear if my grand daughter and her family will be stopping by on their way back home after being in Myrtle Beach for the week.  She had told me that they might be able to stop and see me, but so far, have not heard from her.   I had talked to her brother yesterday and we were hoping that we could all meet up and go to dinner.  So, it will be a "wait and see" thing.

Supposed to be a nice week end and then rain beginning on Tuesday for a few days next week.  Had some plans for Tuesday, but think I will cancel them.  I have enough trouble walking when the weather is nice, so don't want to take any chances in wet weather.  Something that can wait until a nicer day.

June, it is always nice to see you whenever you visit us.

Jane,  hope you won't have to wait too long to renew your license.  Then, you will be "good to go".    I thought your soup sounded really good. I love to try different things.  Might not eat them again,  but will try something once.  My son is a good cook and is always coming up with different varieties of special dishes.  Never know what he will be fixing when I go to dinner there.

Jenny, sure hope you will be feeling lots better this morning.  Hope you were able to enjoy the birthday dinner.

Have a great Saturday !!!

Joy

Good morning everyone 35°. Last night I decided to make scrambled eggs. I just felt like they would hit the spot. Goodness now I cannot even cook them. I was completely worn out and could only eat a little. This back of mine stops me from doing most anything grrrrr. Still hurts this morning and I did not want to get out of bed. No coffee this morning but at least I can make my oatmeal. I get the water boiling add the oatmeal, shut the burner off, cover the pan and set the timer. When it goes off I will add the milk.

LARRY  what a bummer when you have a doctor you like and they move too far away and you have to get a new one. Sun again this morning and not as windy.

JENNY  every time I go anywhere it takes a few days to rest up. I do hate that. Glad I saved so many of the stories that  Joan posted over the years.

JUNE  I am thankful my CNA can do my laundry, I cannot do it anymore. As long as you keep posting every day we do not look for errors, I really never notice them.

JANE  you and my daughter do the same. Follow a recipe the first time and the second time she puts her own tastes to it.

AMY  crows have been noisy around here lately.

JOY  I dislike having to go anywhere when it rains but some appointments take months to get so out I go.

Have a good day.

When the Music Stopped...

When the Music Stopped... (For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters, the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.)

This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq :

I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium we use for movies, as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature. All was
going well until three-quarters of the way through The National Anthem, the music stopped.

Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22 year-olds back in the States? I imagine there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone would sit down and yell for the movie to begin. Of course, that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the first
place.

Here in Iraq, 1,000 Soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed forward. The music started again and the Soldiers continued to quietly stand at attention. But again, at the same point, the music stopped. What would you expect 1000 Soldiers standing at attention to do?? Frankly, I expected some laughter, and everyone would eventually sit down and wait for the movie
to start.

But No!!... You could have heard a pin drop, while every Soldier
continued to stand at attention.

Suddenly, there was a lone voice from the front of the auditorium, then a dozen voices, and soon the room was filled with the voices of a thousand soldiers, finishing where the recording left off:  "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag
was still there. Oh, say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave."

It was the most inspiring moment I have had in Iraq and I wanted you to know what kind of Soldiers are serving you. Remember them as they fight for us!

Pass this along as a reminder to others to be ever in prayer for all our soldiers serving us here at home and abroad. Many have already paid the ultimate price.

Written by Chaplain Jim Higgins LSA Anaconda is at the Ballad Airport In Iraq, north of Baghdad.

God Bless America and all of our troops serving throughout the world.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful and sunny morning and we headed to the mid-70's this afternoon although we are now only in the mid-40's.  I don't have too much on the schedule for today.  I have emptied the ice bin and letting the container thaw out and lose all the shavings frost that seem to build up.  I made Pat's breakfast.  I will decide a little later whether I will attend a meeting this morning or not depending on my strength level at the time.  Yesterday I did go downtown and picked up Elizabeth at Scott's house and brought her out here for a couple of hours.  She cleaned up the attic and brought down a lot of boxes that I had saved up there and generally rearranged and straighten up things.  She did the same in the garage and took a few things up to the attic that have been in the garage since we moved but which I didn't want to discard.  I also had her trim off the top of the three small shrubs on either side of the walkway and on the other side of the driveway.  She did all the work but I was the one ending up tired as stayed with her as she worked.  I was glad to get these things done.  A 19 year old has a lot of energy.

Jenny, nice to read you were feeling better yesterday.  I saw in the news that people were warmed to stay off the roads after about 4:30 yesterday do the the annual pot smoking day on 4/20.  I was shocked at my cardiologist leaving as she had only joined this practice a little over a year ago after being under contract to the University Hospital Cardiology Department.

Jane, I don't care of bland soup either.  I hope your spicing it up made it more enjoyable to you.  I don't want ducks or geese building a nest in my yard as I had enough of them when growing up on the farm.  I hope you didn't have a long wait at the license bureau this morning.

June, you deserve to be treated like a Queen.  Glad you are having the laundry service.  I often do the folding of laundry and it is very tiring, especially those dreadful fitted sheets with the elastic all around.  Sometimes I feel like doing what the man in the TV commercial of some ago that got so frustrated that he threw them on the floor and stomped on them.  I haven't done that yet but have thought about it.  I see Jenny and Mycheal expressed what I was thinking when I read your posting and agree it wasn't a goof but a thoughtful posting.  Keep up the good work.

Amy, glad you had a warmer day yesterday. Hope you get your fabric today.

Joy, time spend with family is the best and sure hope your granddaughter and family stop to see you.  It is wise not to risk being out in wet weather if you don't have to do so.

Gloria, I wish I could make some eggs for you to eat.  That is the one thing I have learned to cook well and just fixed some for Pat this morning to go with the sausage patty.  I put some shredded cheese on top of the eggs and sometimes a little salsa or some chopped peppers and onions.  I also fixed her some of the fresh strawberries.  I see how much of a struggle it is for her to stand in the kitchen so have some idea of what you are enduring with your back pain.

I only had to wait about 10 minutes including the time after the photo was taken.  The lady always says, "There's your photo on the screen.  How is it?"  I gave everyone in the room a laugh when I said, "It's awful but unfortunately it's me!"  I just can't seem to smile when someone tells me to do so.

LARRY, the soup was much better and if I make it again, I'll add more spices to it when I make it.

It's almost time for the doggies to start bugging me for a snack.  When they eat early in the morning, they want to snack early, too.

I guess I better get some paper work done before I begin to fade.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

We drove to Holland for brunch today so I was able to see the twin girls.  Both were napping when we got there but first Jo woke up and later Ellie.  The girls are 15 months old now and both walking quite good.  They were born two months early so probably don't act like full 15-month old children, but they're doing good for us.  The both put on their beautiful smiles and behaved beautifully.  Both were a bit shy with me for about five minutes, then started giving me toys and "talking" to me.  I wish we lived nearer each other.  A friend of Tom's was on his way home to Petoskey from California in his motor home and he contacted Tom while we were on our way to Holland, so Tom invited him to join us.

I have my laundry done for me too; Tom does it.  I don't do stairs now and the laundry/furnace room is in the lower level.  In fact, we bought a new washer/dryer set last year and I have no idea how to operate it.

Tom does a great job with scrambled eggs.  He puts onion and colored peppers in it along with grated cheese.  I usually have some when he makes them.

We are at near 60 degrees now, the first time in ages.  Temperatures for the next week will be at least in the mid to high 50s and I notice my little blue flowers are showing up in my front yard.  I did not wear a coat when we went to Holland today, just a sweater as a jacket.

Joy, I hope your granddaughter and family made it to see you.  They don't realize how disappointed we are when the younger generation can't make it.  I was always fortunate that when Tom and his family, who lived up north at the time, stayed with me so I was able to watch James and Annie grow up into nice adults.

I don't cook much any more, but except for cake and/or cookie recipes, I look at other recipes to find out what ingredients are used.  I used to bake a lot of cakes from scratch but now, if I were to bake one, it would be from a box.  Actually, we don't eat desserts now.

I'm on my way to bed now.  I spent about 3 hours cleaning up the yard this afternoon and I'm exhausted!  You'd think I had a BIG yard and I don't.  I have a large bag of leaves and debris and two piles of sticks that need to be disposed of.  And I'm beat!  I used to do a lot more.  You don't suppose I'm getting old, do you?

Hi Everyone.  We have a cloudy morning but mild temperatures.  We could have a little rain later today but less than 50% chance at this point.  I am going to go to Sunday School and then come home and pick up Pat and we will go back to Church and out to lunch.  I plan on watching the end of the golf tournament and resting this afternoon.

Yesterday I decided I didn't have the energy to get out and attend my meeting so just stayed home all day. Yesterday afternoon Pat made some delicious banana nut bread.  I just finished a slice of it with my breakfast.  A few days ago I ordered a new white shirt from Costco and am wearing it for the first time this morning.  I am very pleased with the quality of the fabric and construction.  The price was very reasonable at $20 and free shipping.

Jane, glad you didn't have a long wait at the DMV.  In both Georgia and South Carolina they have improved their procedures so much as you take a number and there are plenty of seats so you don't have to stand in line like days of old.  I have never liked to see my own picture.

Mary Ann, did you know you would be going to Holland and getting to see those twins before it happened?  The twins sound like real delights.  We had a Marie Callendar chicken pot pie for our dinner last night with a slice of the banana nut bread.  I got a big box of the frozen pot pies the last time I went to Costco so have three more meals left as there were 8 in the box.  I only eat desserts when I have the opportunity.  However, seldom do I buy a dessert when we dine out as they are so expensive besides the fact I am usually full from the meal I have ordered.  The desserts we have at our Wednesday night dinners at Church are always small serving and they are just right.

June, I hope you got to see the Victor Borge video last evening. He was really a character but also a very fine pianist.

Jane, no wonder you were exhausted yesterday as three hours of yard work is tiring for anyone.  I hope you allowed yourself some rest periods during those three hours.

Amy, it sounds like you will have quite an array of vegetables with your roast beef.  I don't care for either turnips or parsnips.

Good morning every one, 39° now, warmest it had been  this early so far.  Hea t still feels good  but soon it will be turned off till cold weather comes back in the fall. Last week weather guesser said rain Thursday and Friday for this week, just hear no rain then but on Wednesday it will rain. Joan was right when she called them GUESSERS.

LARRY  looks like Elizabeth did a lot of work for you. Wonderful, she sounds like a bundle of energy. I used to have it but now I have no more of it. Like you I used to hate folding those bottom sheets. Most of mine only have the elastic top and bottom but one has the elastic on the sides. At first I had trouble ffolding them and found a way to do it and have taught my CNAs how and they are surprised at how easy it is. I cannot do it anymore. Glad you have an idea of the problems I have cooking anything. I know just how Pat feels. Glad you can help her as much as you do.

JANE  you are asked to smile when they take your picture for you license?  Not here, I think they like a startled look on your face when they take it here. They ask you to sit and then look here and snap. Sadistic folks hired to take the pictures?

MARY ANN  I could do my laundry when I moved here but in the almost 4 years there is a lot I can no longer do. I like scrambled eggs with just the eggs but do like an omelet too. It was warmer here yesterday but when I went out I still had my winter jacket on. I lost so much weight that I say I have no more blubber to hold the heat in so am always cold. I used to bake more pies than cakes .Now I don't bake anything.

JUNE  hope you made it down to watch Victor Borge. I used to like watching him on TV. Bet seeing him in person was a treat.

JANE  you getting old?  :o  Not as long as you are young at heart and still working.

AMY  what time do you want me there for your roast beef meal? My mouth is watering already.
Have a good day.

Why be Concerned

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?", the mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed this warning : "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it." The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow and said, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap . . . Alone...

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it. It was a venomous snake whose tail was caught in the trap.

The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital.

When she returned home she still had a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup. So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient:

But his wife's sickness continued. Friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

But, alas, the farmer's wife did not get well... She died.

So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them for the funeral luncheon.

And the mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and you think it doesn't concern you, remember ---

When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

YOU MAY WANT TO SEND THIS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER HELPED YOU OUT...

AND LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE.
REMEMBER - EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY.

OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold on to in this world is a FRIEND.

A good Sunday morning HELLO to all.

The sun is shinning and it is beautiful out after the nice rain and snow we received yesterday.  Everything is greening up and the trees are budding out....I do believe spring has arrived here in The Mile High City.

I am so happy to say that I think the worse is behind me regarding my episode of shingles.  I am so thankful to have  had a milder case of them due to the shingles shot.  I sure have appreciated all of your support and suggestions.

AMY, I would love to be joining you today for your meal also....it sounds yummy.

GLORIA, no smiling on a drivers license picture here in Colorado either!  They also make you remove your glasses!  I enjoyed WHY BE CONCERNED....thank you again for sharing these offerings from Our Joan.

MARYANN, what a nice treat for you to get to go to Holland to see the family. The twins are at a delightful age and I know it must be fun for you to spend time with them.

LARRY, you did not say where you and Pat plan to go for lunch today, so now I will just have to wait for tomorrow’s post to find out! Haha.  Enjoy your Sunday.

JANE, no wonder you were plum tired last night.....I do hope you rested well and are not suffering from your over working yourself!  Was their a penalty for letting your license expire?  I can sure
understand how easily that could happen.  I think I will look at mine and put a reminder in the calendar on my phone right now!

JUNE, I hope you enjoy a nice Sunday❣️

CAROL, when do you and Don head for Colorado?

I wish you all a pleasant day of rest.

Jenny

Good afternoon, from a tired old lady. Nice sunny day, may reach 60

Tired still from being out all day Friday.  Then my granddaughter arrived at 9 yesterday morning, she had driven through from Tenn. She was on her way home to Cape Cod.She spent the day with me, first we went to the Lassies Grandma attic sale,  took a chance on some baskets.  I won one with a set of ladies tools in it and a gift certificate to the local hardware store. Did a little grocery shopping. Then to the Sea Basin, for a fish dinner. I got mussels and linguine. Then in the evening we set and talked and talked.  I had not seen her in 3 years.  So I have a good reason to be tired to day. I think I will just set on the sun porch with a good book.

Marilyne, when I went to work at he hospital in 1965, we had to wear turquoise uniforms.  Later we were allowed to wear street clothes, but no slacks, Much later were only allowed to wear slack suits.  I still have a couple   of set hanging in the closet.

Jean, what wonderful adventures you must of had, living out of the country,  I spent a month in Adana, Turkey, I could write a small book about that. I also spent a month in Germany at Christmas time. Loved that stay. I also spent a week inIceland

Larry, do you have a Long john Sliver Rest, near you?  When we lived in Charleston, that was one of our Friday things to do.  Their hush puppies were as good as my mother laws, and I thought she made the best.

Dot and I did our usual Sunday thing, church and Mr Burger, and had a Tuna Melt along with a piece of coconut cream pie and coffee.  They were very busy and we had to wait a long time for our number to be called.  I was lucky to get a booth right away.

When I started work, it was normal for women to wear skirts.  I remember in 1983 I broke my leg and I wore slacks during that time, but returned to skirts when the cast came off.  We did not really have a dress code but it was the time we were in.  Later one of the women who was too old to do so, wore hot pants.  Now, I wear slacks during the fall, winter and spring and I can't tell anyone the last time I wore a dress!  Things do change.

It's a beautiful day and suppposed to stay that say all week.

My favorite color - lets see how this shows.

Jenny:  So happy to read you are on the mend.  We are scheduled to leave on Saturday & get to Santa Fe that night - "Lord willing".  "iffing the Creek don't rise"  I sure do pause and remember Columbine School - our son & wife had bought a house that a student had lived in previously.  I was sitting a grandson and huge flower baskets arrived with notes of condolence and mainly from major T.V. personality.  Thankfully, a neighbor knew where to bring the flowers - so terribly sad. The library was well-known to us and never the same afterward.  We should meet at Kneader's.

Not feeling well - it may be allergies because of the dry - extreme dry conditions. Who knows - there are still things to do so I just keep on.

JaneS: Here is your  :grouphug:

Gloria de:   We are so fortunate to have granddaughters.

Mary Ann - coconut pie - it has been ages.

Can you read the teal color?  It is my favorite but seems a bit light to me.

I like the teal, Carol.... safe travels.  WE finally had some rain, so dry here the "dust devils" pop up anywhere.

Thought sure I left a message today so just in case anyone thinks I'm slipping & repeating myself... I am slipping.  :crazy2:

Bet nobody here can beat my do nothing day.... got to church on time & breakfast with the family, came home & slept until
past noon.  Cats were all inside, snug & sleeping with me.  We ate lunch & cats went outside & I checked in here & crawled back on the end of that bed & went to sleep again.  Time to eat again so will feed cats & head to my fav ice cream store for a "twisty" cone (that is chocolate & vanilla in a crunch waffle cone).. yummmy.  Then I will think about what to eat or maybe just get ready for bed again.  I guess I must need it.... unlike June, I'm not even walking around today!  What a relaxing day & not even thinking about all the work I need to do.  Joan is not keeping the demerit book for us but I still see her rolling her eyes at that 4 letter word!

It is cloudy, sprinkles off & on, perfect sleeping weather.  I think this is what God had in mind for a "day of rest".
A peaceful day for all of you, today, tomorrow or any day.  Hugs and God Bless.   :grouphug:  :xoxo:  Shirley

Carol, whatever color that is, it is very readable for me.  Thank you.

Shirley, I have most of my days similar to yours, maybe not so many naps.  Kendrick wanted attention this afternoon and there is no room in this computer room to accommodate him.  He walks back and forth and forth and back and keeps going on and on.  Finally, I go into the living area where I have a pad on the davenport just for him, coax him onto the pad and massage him and rub his fur back and forth.  He seems to love it and after a while, I can return to what I was doing and he leaves me alone.  I feel sorry for him because I can't play with him and he doesn't get the attention he needs and deserves.  He's really a very good boy!

Dot and I did start out the day by going to church, then going to brunch where we split the coconut cream pie and a Tuna Melt.  I'm just now deciding it is time to eat again.

Trying somethingIt was a bit lite for those of us with poor eyesight but I notice that if you put the "bold" on with it, it's darker. I went back and looked at it and maybe it's just the size or the printing.  I could read it OK.  Don't change it if you don't want to.  We all need our specialties.

I was hungry for eggs yesterday so I set a package of sausage out of the freezer and in the fridge to thaw.  This morning I cooked it and spread it in a casserole and then browned som frozen hash brown potatoes and spread them in there, then I spread a package of frozen peas on top of that and a layer of cheese.  I poured a mixture of eggs and milk over that and baked it at 325 for about 35 minutes.  It was scrumpdiddlyumptious!  I had it for breakfast, lunch and supper!  And I'm not tired of it yet.

Thanks for the group hug!  I really needed that!

Also need some vitamins!  I got a recommendation from my sister who got her recommendation from her Naturopath.  Gonna get me some tomorrow.

My nice neighbor across the street took away all my yard cleanup stuff today.  And now the yard really looks beautiful!  Well, maybe not quite.  The guy who lived here before did some temporary planting and when he did, he spread a LOT of plastic.  Now the temporary plants are all gone and the plastic remains.....and remains.....and remains!  And so does the mud on top of it.

Tomorrow, my son is sending me a yard guy who he says is good and he's going to look at it and see if it might be possible to get rid of the plastic and grow some grass.  And how much it will cost me!

JENNY, I'm glad you're feeling better.  Keep it up!

Gloria de, nice to have a granddaughter drop in and spend the day!  We need that sometimes, don't we!

I don't know if I remembered it all or not but I remember all of you!  You're my buddys!

Jenny, I'm so glad you had a good nights sleep. I makes one's whole day nice and new and perfect.  I  rarely do not sleep well, but the meds I take are a big help.

Gloria, this week I will send down dark laundry. I must put my name in each  article if I want it returned,  so I hope my yellow marker will show up on dark pants. So it is work getting that done. And messy too.

Larry, when I had lots of beds to change, I took the fitted sheets from the dryer and  put them back on the bed, easier than folding the darn things.

Janie, I started fading the minute I got back from chapel, and I faded all the rest of the day. I earned a big ZERO for this day. Didn't even  want to eat. Now it's going on to eight o'clock, and I don't want supper.

I did go down to watch Victor Borge last night and had a wonderful good laugh.

Time to eat and get ready for bed. Hugs, Love, and Prayers. June

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's cold here but the sun is shining and that's a plus.

I'm still waiting for an electrician to get me light in the living room.  Everything is on extension cords and running into the next room.  Hopefully this will be fixed today.  I certainly hope so.

Enjoy your day Everyone.  Make it a good one!

Good Morning, Amy and all the other friends.

I am here, but just barely !!!   I am just not a morning person, and it takes me just sooooooooo loooooong to get moving.

I do have to pick myself up and get going.  I am going for a hair cut around 11,  and it is almost 8:30,  so it will take me just about that long to get myself put together.  LOL

I was hoping that my grand daughter would stop by yesterday, but I guess they were in a hurry to get back home.  It wasn't anything "set in stone", but she had mentioned that they "might" stop by.  But, I am sure traveling with a little 15 month old had been a little hectic.  Hopefully, I will see them this summer sometime.

Nothing else going on today that I know of.  It will be nice to get my hair cut.  That is always a good pick-me-up.

I saw over in Norm's group,  that today is Mary Ann's birthday.  Sure hope she has a nice day, along with everyone else.

JOY

Hi Everyone.  The morning starts out very rainy after rain last night and it is suppose to continue all day long and then into this evening as well.  They indicate we may expect as much as two inches of rain.  It is the nice slow rain this morning that really soaks into the ground.  The main thing I will do today is attend another funeral.  This is for the son of the man who lost his wife just a few weeks ago.  He had been suffering from cancer and suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Pat had a good day yesterday and felt like attending Sunday School and Church with me.  After Church we went to Zaxby's for their chicken salad.  It is a delicious salad and I had grilled chicken pieces on mine and Pat had the fried chicken on hers.  It is served with a slice of buttered toast and is a full meal.  We then had a quiet afternoon.  I did visit on FaceTime for quite awhile with my good friend and then watched the conclusion of the golf match.  Another young player won his first tournament.

Gloria, I got worn out just watching Elizabeth work although I let her do all the physical work.  We consider her our new adopted granddaughter and she calls us grandpa and grandma just as our granddaughter does and calls our son dad.  I have seen the videos on folding the fitted sheets but never can remember and so my folding isn't very neat.  I find most people aren't smiling when they have to go to the DMV anyway so not smiling for the picture is easy to accomplish.  :) I really liked the reading you shared for today.  The older I get the more I appreciate my friends and family.

Jenny, good news on the Shingles front for you.  I am sure Spring is welcome out your way.  I think where we went is just a chain here in the SouthEast so doubt you have ever heard of Zaxby's.

deAngel, always nice to win a prize whether we need it or not.  Nice your granddaugher spent the day with you and no wonder you were tired yesterday.  Yes, we do have a Long John Silver Restaurant near us and also a Captain D's.  However, neither Pat nor I are particularly fond of fish so we have only been to the Captain D's once since we moved here and haven't been to Long John Silver's.

Carol, the teal color is fine for me.  I do hope you will get to feeling better when you get back to the Denver area.

Shirley, your day yesterday sounds a lot like mine.  Of course that is true most days as try to rest for at least a couple of hours each afternoon and sometimes in the morning as well, which I will probably do this morning as am weary today.  Anymore one day of being out doing something seems to take a day or so to recover from the effort.

Jane, that sounds like a very filling casserole you made and one that will provide several meals.  At our previous house we had rocks put in between the house and around some bushes and a border we had put in.  The landscaper did put down the material that the water can soak through but pretty well prevents weeds or grass form growing up in it.  It stayed nice all the years we lived there and required very little maintenance.

June, our housekeeper changes the sheets and we don't get the ones removed washed up while she is here or I expect we would do the same thing.  Glad you got to watch Victor Borge.

Amy, hope you don't have too many chores to do today so you can have an enjoyable day although I know when we feel up to it working gives one a sense of accomplishment.

Lloyd, once a farmer always a farmer.  What will you do with four mules if you end up with that?

Joy, you and my wife would make a good team as she isn't a morning person either.  She really shocked me yesterday when we was dressed early and ready to head to the Church.

Good morning everyone,  42°  to get me going today, yesterday was a beautiful spring day. I sat outside most of the day with several others that enjoyed the warm sunny day. Felt wonderful.

JENNY  so glad the worse is over for you with the shingles. I am glad I saved do many of Joan's stories and now I can share what I saved. Once I have posted them I try to move them to a different folder but might forget at times and post them again. I think those of us who knew her for years will never forget her.

GLORIA de  I know ho0w it feels to be worn out after being away from home all day. Lately when I am away it has been for appointments. Spending part of a day at my son's or grandson's homes is not as bad and they will take me home when I ask. Of course when I get home I get comfy and lay on the couch with the TV on.

MARY ANN  you keep your tuna melt and I will take the coconut cream pie.I remember working with skirts or dresses, was more comfortable when slacks became more popular and worn for every thing. I no longer own any dresses.

JANE  time for you to retire and not work so much?  Reading what you and Amy do every day gets me tired for you.

CAROL  my daughter near Kingman tells me what the humidity is there and it is hard to believe how dry it is. Here in RI and closer to the ocean I don't think it ever got very low. I like teal, too, but maybe if you used bold it would be darker? When I remember to wish someone a happy birthday that is the color I use but with a large font and it shows darker. Have a safe trip to Denver.

SHIRLEY  had to chuckle thinking of Joan and her demerit book/ Got so we did not write out that dirty word anymore it would be  w--- or w--k. Remember we are retired and now that is a dirty word and we no longer do it. Glad you finally had a day of rest, unheard of from you.

JANE  the different fonts and size or regular or bold will change the colors. Ooh that casserole you made yesterday sounds good. Hearing a lot about plastic these days and how long it will take to break down, hundreds of years.

AMY  about time you got rid of the snow till Christmas.

LLOYD  for a man who would like to bet an RV and you and your wife start traveling if looks like you are still wanting more for you farm.

JANE  hope the electrician shows up and puts outlets in for you and you can get rid of the extension cords.

JOY  I used to be a morning person but now it takes a long time to get going in the mornings. If I don't get moving my CNA will be here before I am dressed for the day.

LARRY  I have seen videos for folding fitted sheets and looks more complicated than the way I do them.

Have a good day.

Wisdom of Gandhi
Author Unknown

When Mohandas Karamchand Ghandhi, better known as Ghandhi, was studying law at the University College of London, there was a professor, whose last name was Peters, who felt animosity for Gandhi, and because Gandhi never lowered his head towards him, their "arguments" were very common.

One day, Mr. Peters was having lunch at the dining room of the University and Gandhi came along with his tray and sat next to the professor. The professor, in his arrogance, said, "Mr Gandhi: you do not understand... a pig and a bird do not sit together to eat ".

Gandhi replied, "You do not worry professor, I'll fly away ", and he went and sat at another table.

Mr. Peters, green of rage, decided to take revenge on the next test, but Gandhi responded brilliantly to all questions.

Then, Mr. Peters asked him, "Mr Gandhi, if you are walking down the street and find a package, and within it there is a bag of wisdom and another bag with a lot of money; which one will you take?"

Without hesitating, Gandhi responded, "the one with the money, of course".

Mr. Peters, smiling, said, "I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom.

"Each one takes what one doesn't have", responded Gandhi indifferently.

Mr. Peters, already hysteric, wrote on the exam sheet the word "idiot" and gave it to Gandhi.

Gandhi took the exam sheet and sat down. A few minutes later, he went goes to the professor and said, "Mr. Peters, you signed the sheet, but you did not give me the grade."

Gloria, I am cackling over that Gandhi Wisdom... oh, if we could only think so fast for a "come back" at times like that!  On the subject of being tired, I just wore myself out trying on last years summer slacks & "shorts" (my shorts are long pants cut to the length below the knee where I am comfy).  Afraid all the twisty cones I have eaten showed up around the middle.   :tissue:

Okay, is it really your birthday, Mary Ann?   I was going to march a few balloons across the screen but haven't seen anyone else confirming 'tis true.  I must show you a photo of my Tommy and his look alike brother or half brother.... I can't tell them apart from a distance but got photos of Tommy II up close & you can see his father's almost Persian face.  Someone must have adopted Tommy II since he doesn't show up often & when he does he acts like he wants to come inside.  My Tommy growls like a wild animal when he sees him but I think he secretly plays with him down by the river.  Tommy also loves to be rubbed & petted and brushed!  His sister wants no part of being brushed.  Tommy will play with those "super" balls when I pull them out from under furniture... Tiger doesn't play with anything.  Old LaurenKat had games she would play with Cas, but never me.  Cats do have a mind of their own.

Got some jobs to do... oh that reminds me of an article that came in e-mail yesterday, about Steve Jobs.. No clue if it is true but sure something to think about, his thoughts when he knew he was dying.

Yes, Shirley, it is my birthday today.  I've caught up with Gloria D - 94.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get this old.  Some days I feel my age and some days I feel pretty good.  Tom is taking me to lunch today to a restaurant by a man-made lake.  On nice days (and this one is) they try to put everyone near a window - and they have a lot of windows.

Kendrick has already been by several times, trying to spread his hair all over.  I don't brush him enough and I pay for it when he rubs against me!

OK - thanks for the input.  I had forgotten Bold.

Yesterday, I was worthless - and have been for 4 days but did turn a corner last night and slept half the night at least.  Progress.  We are working on leaving Arizona on Saturday morning but can change if needed.  I wonder how long we can keep this routine up - and we do return to higher altitude so huff and puff until we get used to it again.  I am so glad that whatever crud I have is better - it was worrisome to think of all the little chores.

Shirley:  Ghandi - perfect!

Mary Ann:   :hb3:  ----and many more.  Eat cake.

Shirley:  I couldn't figure out what you were writing about - Tommy and thought that was a relative.  Now I understand.  Slow thinking today - me, I mean.

Lloyd:  Just head west - Jenny and I will meet you at the corral - Shirley will hitch a ride, I am sure.

That is enough exertion today - time for a wee nap.  Just to drift off a few seconds is all I need.

First of all  :hb3: :hb2: :hb3: Happy birthday Mary Ann, enjoy your special day!!!

My day started off well then slowly came to a halt. When I went out to bring wood in I heard such a noise and saw swallows fighting over the bird house what a sight they were, our first sighting of the year. Then I heard it...the lovely sound of the loons calling, THEY ARE BACK!!! Glancing up at the sky I saw 3 snow geese flying by......that made my day!
I did chase dust bunnies , make a pot of pea soup and few other little chores and then it happened. The bed called me for a nap so down we went for a full hour!!

Thank you Carol, Amy and Shirley.  I've had a great day so far but I think the excitement is over.  At least until Saturday when some of us will gather for one last celebration.  Nephew Tom took me to lunch today and my lunch and dessert were free - Tom said I was a cheap date!  I received flowers from Tom in Indy and from Dot.  Tom has left for the day and I am settled in for the evening and night.

I am making plans to go to Indps one last time.  They want me to visit and I want to go down.  I was close to my cousin in Indy and consider them my second family.  My first family, of course, is my family around here, including a great-nephew in California.  He sent me a birthday greeting.  In the case of both families, I have watched all of the kids grow up and that is why I am close to all of them.

Our temperature today hit 70 degrees for the first time since last fall.  We are to be on the warm side all week.

Good afternoon....

This day has just flown by for me.  Son Brian came over to help us with a few littl chores.....sure do appreciate the help.  He brought over Oliver the Doodle...  He is such a beautiful doggie.  He loves to come to our house and gets so excited at the mention of our names.  He also knows when they are getting close and he lets Brian know he is excited.

CAROL, I am sorry you are not feeling too well.  Hope you improve before you start the trek home.  It is a beautiful day here but a storm is to move in later this afternoon.  I had a text saying it would start raining at 4:12!!

LARRY, I got excited when I looked up Zaxby’s.....it came right up then I realized it said Denver, NC!  I see they are in the south...but there is one in Utah...wonder why they skipped over us?

I hope it has been a good day for you, Birthday Girl, MARYANN.  1924 was a great year.....the same year my dad was born too.  I wish you a very healthy and happy year to come.  Have you out lived the age of all of your family members?

Enjoy the rest of your Monda, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Good evening, beautiful day.  Joy, am  now a late person,  For years I use to have leave the house at 5:30AM to have the office open for all the preopts, I had to admit. I said when I retired from the hospital I was not going to get up early

Larry, I had to like fish, as my family were all fishermen.  During the depression my mother said you always had to keep salt pork, potatoes in the house. We would never starve to death.  There was always a bushel of potatoes, bushel of clams and oysters in the garage.  Can you imagine what those clams and oysters would be worth to day

Jane, I sure did enjoy seeing Mandy, after 3 long years

June, glad to see your post,  I like your idea, put the sheets right back on.

MaryAnn, I had one unhappy cat, as Mandy had her golden with her who, had never been close to a cat. I had to keep Taffy in the bedroom all day. My neighbor who love Taffy  came over yesterday, and we were both laughing, as Taffy talk to her about 5 min. as if to tell her how badly she had been treated

Carol, safe trip, feel better.

Gloria, I am still recovering, To day I took my coffee out on the deck, put my feet up and read the paper and enjoyed the sun

Thank you Jenny, Callie and Jane for the colorful birthday greetings.  I haven't done much since lunch, but I've been busy, mostly doing nothing, but even that takes time.

Gloria D, I've always been a morning person and I still like to watch the world come awake in the morning, but I don't like to get dressed right away.  I've gotten so it often is between 11 and noon before I get dressed.  If someone would come here, Kendrick would scoot to the lower level and stay there until the person would leave.  Annie does come often enough that he knows who she is and stays upstairs, but others?  No way!  He isn't mistreated by having to go downstairs because he looks out the slider, sitting between the vanes of the vertical  louvers and I know he looks for birds, maybe ducks or geese.

Jane, I guess you can say that I am spreading my birthday over several days.  We started out last Saturday when we went to Holland MI to be with Tom's son and family.  Tom took me to lunch today.

There's a ship coming in to Duluth and I want to watch it.

Mary Ann

I'm off to Dreamland.  It's been one of those days but I now have the electricity back on in the living room and I had the pleasure of my son's company while he did that for me.

A few days ago, I asked him if he knows anyone who does yard work cheap.  He does and he gave the guy my name and phone number to call and come see what it is I need done.  Today, I asked him if he knows what he charges per hour and he said, "It doesn't matter because I told him to do what you need done and send me the bill."  When I asked him why he did that he said, "for your birthday and Mother's Day"!  Nice, huh?

Good night my friends!  Sleep well and wake with the morning light.  God be with you!

A dark and very rainy morning here but that is OK...we needed the rain.

Happy Birthday, Mary Ann!  So sorry that I'm late but hope that the rest of the year will be as good as your birthday celebrations with your family were.

Some disturbing news last night.  My younger son called from the hospital.  He had trouble with rapid heart beat so he went to the emergency room.  They managed to stabilize his heart and told him he has probably developed A-Fib.  They kept him in the hospital and his cardiologist will see him today and consult with the hospital staff.  He promised he would call me as soon as he was released and home again.  They live nearly 5 hours away from me but wish I could see him and talk to him face to face.  Waiting has never been easy for me.

PHYLLIS, prayers on the way for your son.  God be with you as you wait!

Today is to be into the 70s as was yesterday.  I hesitate to mention it but you don't suppose SPRING has finally seen fit to grace us with her presence, now do you?

I'm off to work this morning and the cleaning dynamo will be here while I'm gone.  I'll get to come home to a nice clean, shiny house today.  That might even take some of the "tired" away!

I finally made up a to-do list for what must be done before I head off to pamper EMMA.  I always get more done when I have a list.  I still haven't started packing but it's on the list

Gotta go get ready for work.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Thank you also, Phyllis.  I'm sorry to hear about your son.  I was diagnosed with A-fib a few years ago and while it is scary, we can live a normal life.  Prayers for him.

Good morning every one, 37° with a nice blue sky. Rain tomorrow so better go out today and enjoy it. Was rudely awakened with noise in the hallway. The lady across the hall is having her carpeting cleaned. The men  doing the job had the door opened and was vacuuming it. I did see the truck outside when I pulled up the BR shade. They have to drive to the back of the building to bring the hose up to the third floor. That would be OK but that vacuum is very loud. I hope the lady there has someo9ne to be with her. She is in her 90's and very frail. She was an English bride from WW2. She seldom leaves her apartment anymore but had help and her son is here almost every day after work. Nice folks.

SHIRLEY  take me with you for one of those cones with you. I would enjoy them and maybe add a few pounds. If I lose anymore my clothes will fall off me. Have not thought of getting summer clothes out yet. Maybe I will get my CNA to help me one of these days. I do not wear shorts anymore, prefer pedal pushers.  Capris on me are more like   pants that are too short.

LLOYD  if you got the mares ready to drive a fancy wagon you would surely meet a lot of people in your travels.  Think of all you would need to pack before heading out. Heading north in the summer and south in the winter.

CAROL  bold does make the teal darker and easier to read. Hope you feel well enough for the trip to Denver.

AMY  I miss seeing the different birds here. Where I lived there were so many ov them and fall and spring would hear the geese flying over at night. In the back side of this building there are trees and many birds. At times wile turkeys show up and a deer will go through. Wish I could look out and see that instead of a parking lot.

JENNY  hope you are feeling much better.

LLOYD  darn  that link would not work for me.

GLORIA de  it is always good to have company but we do get tired too easy these days.

JANE  sneaky things our children do for us at times. I get that for borthday and Mother's day at times, too.

AMY  looks like spring is here too at last.

PHYLLIS  your rain today will be here tomorrow and we do not need it right now, had too much last week. Prayers for your son. I know how it feels to have a child in the hospital and not being there.

         Vitamin F

A Friend shared this article with me and I want to share it with you.

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all different in character ?
Some of them can be considered marginal even ?
How do I get on with them all ?
I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me..
With one of them I am a polite, good girl.
            I joke with another friend.
I sit down and talk about serious matters with one of them.
With another I giggle at every silly thing.
I have my tea with one
            And dance with another.
I listen to one friend's problems and give her advice,
Then I listen to another advising me.
They are all like pieces of a jigsaw:
When completed they form a treasure box.
            A treasure of friends!
They are my friends who understand me better than myself,
Who support me through good days and bad days.
They are like colorful anti-depressants that I take on different days.
Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health.
Dr. Oz calls them Vitamins F (for Friends), and counts the benefits of Friends to our well being.

Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes.
If you take Vitamin F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age.
The warmth of friendship stops stress
And even in your tense moments
It decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50 %.

I am so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!

In summary we should value our friends and keep in touch with them.
We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, not forgetting to open our mouths big to swallow the floating vitamins F !!!!

Hi Everyone.  After a very rainy day yesterday we are in for a nice day of sunshine and some clouds and a temperature of 75 degrees.  We are looking forward to a brief visit this morning from a long time friend, who is traveling through to work on her way to Florence, GA.  She is going to have lunch with us and Pat put together a hot chicken casserole that will be quick to bake and a nice one dish meal along with a small side salad.  Yesterday was pretty much a wasted day, other than getting myself ready and attending the funeral.  Otherwise I spent most of the day laying down as was very weary.

Gloria, you are correct that I won't forget Joan and what she contributed to all of us.  Don't worry about possibly reposting something as they are always worth another read.

Lloyd, I have a feeling that Nancy wouldn't be in favor of a trip in a covered wagon if that is what you were suggesting.

Jenny, I am surprised there is a Zaxby's in Utah.  Maybe that is the beginning of a Westward expansion for the franchise.

Jane, that is a great birthday and Mother's Day present for you to have your yard taken care of.  Glad you have our wiring problems fixed and you can take up the extension cords, which can be dangerous to trip over on the floor.

Phyllis, glad your son checked on the rapid heart beat right away and that he gets home from the hospital today.  Does he have other heart problems since you mentioned his cardiologist?
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for April 15,2018
Post by: Shirley on April 24, 2018, 11:22:30 AM
I really should be on the road but want to mention a few things before I get so far behind y'all will think I've slipped gears.... First of all, Phyllis, I hope & pray your son's rapid heartbeat causes no more problems than mine.  I had 3 days of "over 200 times a min" way back in the 1960s.... the doctor put me on digitalis and told me not to drink coffee until.... I slept for 3 days, took the pills for a month with normal heartbeat and since we were moving into the new house we just built, started taking them for the 2nd month.

By that time I was aware that, as I told one friend, "I could clean the ceiling and the floor at the same time, 24 hours a day".... she insisted I go to the Dr immediately for something to take at night to sleep, that I was "on a high".  Instead I started weaning myself off that digitalis & after a few weeks was clean and decided I would take a regular aspirin any time I knew I was going to be stressed more than normal.  Still works for me, those old fashioned aspirin thin my blood, calm me in a crisis and the latest news is they are finding people that take normal usage are less likely to develop Alzheimer's ....

When I had the serious attack of A-fib in the hospital I agreed to pills that turned me into a zombie immediately & had to wean myself off them.  5 years since that episode & still okay with the once a week aspirin.  I know everyone doesn't work like I do, but my cardiologist claimed "nobody dies from A-fib".... I'm not sure all agree with his opinion, but he was considered the best in the city when my husband first started going to him.

I have a bad habit of believing I can handle anything EXCEPT medicine so am not suggesting anyone do what I do.... just THINK about what works best of their body. I do believe in the world today doctors are rushed into trying pills before common sense because there have been amazing fixes to health issues that used to kill so quickly. On the other hand, the pills & procedures kept my husband alive for a lot of years, of that I am convinced.

Lloyd, I've been grinning at the thought of traveling with the mules or horses & wagon, thinking that you would sure avoid all those problems I had the first few years of a new motorhome!  But it is nice to plug into electricity at night & watch all those old TV shows or even pop in a movie when the TV isn't any good.  You would miss your westerns.  My refrigerator & freezer in the RV runs on propane as well as electricity so I don't have to worry about how to keep food cold, and the propane stove is so handy even in a parking lot, to heat water for coffee or fry an egg.

I like the Corp of Engineer campgrounds best, they usually have more trees and space between other campers.  I would rather sleep in a Walmart parking lot than most commercial campgrounds.  To be honest, the pull behind camper is better than the motorhome unless you pull a car behind.  It a lot of trouble to make sure everything is locked in place (like a salt shaker, etc) just to run to the store or go drive around... but I don't think I am strong enough to lift the tow bar off & on to pull my car and since I am alone, do not want to need to unlock doors to get out unless it looks safe.  Hope you get a chance to do some traveling..... might even rent one to see if you really want to invest, it isn't as easy to find places to stop to visit, I ask friends to "join me in a Walmart parking lot" most of the time, rather than try to park on their street or driveway, even for a few hours visit.

Boy, I have got to get moving.  Phyllis, I do pray your son's problem can be resolved without life long dread of it getting worse.  I hear of lots of people that take meds for A-fib without any more issues.

Gloria, I sure do like that Vitamin F diagnosis, can't go wrong with that!

Gloria, thank you for the colorful birthday greeting.  I have two more events to go, so I guess I am still celebrating.  This weekend the family around here, including Erin from Indps, will help me celebrate in Allendale (Grand Valley State University).  Annie called yesterday and wants to take me to lunch, also on the weekend, so I told her to check with her dad (Tom) so we don't duplicate things.  I liked the Vitamin F post too.  It did take me a minutes to make the connection.

As I've mentioned before, I have A-fib and I take Eliquis and cannot take aspirin.  In a way I wish I could still take aspirin as I think I was getting along fine with it, but I was told Eliquis is the safest and I am taking the lowest dosage.  I go in every six months for a checkup and my next appointment is late May.

I think today will not be as warm as yesterday, but it is a nice day anyway.  We don't have bright sunlight yet, but the sun is trying to shine and we are in the low 60s.  After the lousy weather we've had of late, I'll take what we have.

I just woke up from a nice restful nap. I woke during the night and read for a while so that may be the reason to nap. whatever.........I did clean my coffee pot this morning so something useful was done, and yesterday I gave my self a nice close finger nail pruning so that is two chores out of the way , next on the agenda is some needed paper work. Unanswered letters, etc.But first will be lunch in the small dining room. Then a food meeting at 2 p.m.

Our temps will be a high of 73 today.....nice. I will be sure to get some walking done. I need more rest periods now, but  that's O.K. it is the walking that is essential. It's a great life, and worth being a part of.......especially this part.......time with you my dear uplifting friends. I love you !

Hello Everyfriend!  I had a good day at work today.  A customer couple came through my line and we talked as they checked out and as they were leaving Sylvia handed me a scrap of paper to read.  It had a rose at the the top and was done in a kind of fancy print.  Here is what it said...

Just wanted to say "thank you"
For the work that you do
It could be discouraging
As people go through
But your cheery greeting
Your expertise in price
Makes our day a bit brighter
Thanks for being so nice
     Stanly and Sylvia

I finished reading with tears in my eyes and thanked them for their kindness.  Sylvia said, "you're always so helpful and we think you deserve to be thanked for that."  I told them they are very thoughtful people and that they made my day....they made my life happier!

Not many people take the time to say "Thank you" but it is appreciated and when it's unexpected, it's even better!

Now I'm going to go "rest on my laurels" a bit!

Another bow from me, Jane.... you do deserve to have people let you know you are appreciated!

I found the message about Steve Jobs that impressed me so, hope y'all haven't read this recently, I thought it special:

Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, died a billionaire.  Here are some of his last thoughts and words:
"I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world.  In others’ eyes, my life is the epitome of success.
However, aside from work, I have little joy.  In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I have become accustomed to.
At this moment, I am on my sick bed, and recalling my life.  I realize that all of the recognition and wealth in which I took so much pride, have become meaningless in the face of my impending death.
You can employ someone to drive a car for you, and to make money for you, but you cannot employ anyone to bear illness for you.
Material things, when lost, can be found, but the one thing, that can never be found when it is lost, is your health and eventually your life itself.
When a person goes into the operating room, he realizes that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading, "The Book of Healthy Life".
Whatever stage in life we are at currently, in time we all face that day when the curtain comes down.
Treasure love for your family, love for your spouse and love for your friends.  Treat yourself well, and cherish others.
As we grow older, and hopefully wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $3,000.00 or a $30.00 watch is not important.  The time is the same.  Whether we carry a $300.00 or $30.00 wallet/handbag, the contents are the same.
Whether we drink a bottle of $100 or $10 wine, the hangover is the same.  Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3,000 sq. ft., the loneliness is the same.  Whether you fly first class or economy, if the plane goes down, you go down with it.
You will come to realize that true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.
Therefore, treasure your buddies, old friends, brothers and sisters.  Chat often, laugh, sing songs with them.  Talk about north-south-east-west, or heaven & earth.  That is true happiness.”
Six Undeniable Facts of Life
1. Don't educate your children to be rich.  Educate them to be happy, so when they grow up they will know the value of things, and not just their price.
2. "Eat your food as your medicines, otherwise you have to eat medicines as your food."
3. The one who loves you will never leave you for another, because, even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he, or she, will find that one reason to hold on.
4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human.
5. You are loved when you are born.  You will be loved when you die.  In between, only YOU are in charge of your life.
6. If you just want to walk fast, then walk alone.  However, if you want to walk far, then walk together.

Janie, I am so happy that the nice couple showed their appreciation of you with that  loving note. Things like that note make going to work a lot to look forward too. And you can be sure that other folks feel the same way. but don't know how to say so.

Tisie, thank you for printing that about Steve Jobs. He was a brilliant young man, and I enjoy using the Mac computer he designed. He was just 56 years of age. Four children, and his pancreatic cancer was buried  so deep it was hard to treat.

We have had a perfectly perfect day today, mild and cool. I attended a food meeting and that was it. Buried myself in a book the rest of the day. Reading an oldie "Lost Horizon'.

Tomorrow  will be my Gary leading our Bible Study. I will look forward to that. He is a good teacher and very well liked.  I love him, of course.  :smitten:
I think Iwill go for another walk before it gets too late.

Have a Blessed night dear hearts....Hugs, love and prayers/

Much needed liquid sunshine here this morning, hope it takes away the remaining snow. I am off to the chiropractors in a bit and then home to work about the house, I was going to do yard work, clean up after the dogs but the rain put a stop to that.

Shirley, loved the post on Steve Jobs, what a remarkable man he was .

June, sounds like you had a great day and hope you have many more.

Jane, cancer shows no mercy to anyone, rich or poor ,young or old..all we can do is pray they soon find a cure.

Better hit the shower.

I knew I could count on all of you for your comforting support and I thank you all.  Kevin was released from the hospital yesterday and says he is feeling fine.  His heart rate settled back into a normal rhythm during the night.  He talked to his cardiologist who told him that he did not have A-Fib but had what is called Atrial Fluttter.  It can be caused by many things, I guess, but is not uncommon to someone who is "older".  (He is 63.)  To answer your question, Larry, he had a blocked heart artery some years ago and had to have a stent inserted.  He has been under the care of a cardiologist for many years and takes daily medicine for that so in a way, he was lucky to already have a doctor who knows him and his medical history.  He will do a follow up with the doctor who may have him start taking a blood thinner.  But, all in all, it is a big relief that he is back home and, in his words, feeling fine.

I slept much better last night .  I don't care how old your kids are, when they are having a life emergency, you still worry about them.  And I feel frustrated because I can't do anything to help them!

It's been cloudy and rainy and windy here for the last few days.  I'm ready for some sunshine.

I've been up for about an hour and a half but it's time to say....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I wish you a day of sunshine after the rain.  We're having the rain here now.  It began sometime during the night....I think around 11 because the doggie were damp when they came in from their last foray.  And it is supposed to continue most of the day today.  MORE MUD!

I'll be off to work this morning and then I'm finished until I return from Texas.  I think I might be getting done.   I don't know if you all remember my telling you about the drive in we have here called THE FENCE.  My family always gathers there on my birthday and we say "We open it for the season".  We're doing that on Friday evening.  It'll be fun just to see them all together!

Now I have to get moving.  The dryer just told me it's finished with the "mediums" and that leaves only the "darks" to do.  I can't do them until I come home from work and change out of my work clothes.  And that's the last load of laundry.

I got my income tax refund back yesterday so I'm ready to roll!

And I chose a "GG Gift" for Emma.  I wanted something that she could look at later and say, "My great grandma got me that when I was born".  I finally hit on what I think is the perfect gift.  You all tell me what you think.  I found an Amish carpenter that makes furniture and he's making a child size rocking chair just for her.  I got to choose the wood and the finish and the design and when it's finished it will be shipped directly to her.  I'm delighted!  It will last long after I'm gone and she can pass it on to her own children.

Now I HAVE to get the dryer and start getting ready for work.  You all have a wonderful day.

PS Phyllis, I'm so happy for your son!  God said "YES".

Good morning every one 47° warmest start so far this year but  it is raining so will not be sitting outside. Another politician if found to be a crook. Happens too often in this state.

LARRY  hope you enjoyed your company yesterday. Always nice to see old friends.

SHIRLEY  like you aspirin has always worked better for me. On days where my back is worse than usual in between my pain pills I will have something to eat and take a couple of aspirin and in no time it helps. Doctor told me to try that and she was right. Glad you enjoyed that Vitamin F.  A few good friends are better that a lot of acquaintances.

MARY ANN  gone are the days in SN and when we first got to S&F when those of us doing PSP got a list of birthdays for the month and made cards for all of them. I never kept the lists so never know when a birthday comes up. I cannot get that program installed on this PC so do not do anything with graphics anymore and sure do miss it. There are only 2 people doing it now, Bubble and Angelface. I still go into that forum and love what they create and I am so jealous of what they do.

JUNE  wish I could nap in the afternoon. I do lay on the couch for at least half an hour to rest my back. By the time my daughter and I get on Skype I keep yawning and she keeps teasing me.

JANE  wonderful note from that couple. So many do not realize that cashiers are people with feelings and appreciate a kind word or even a thank you. I have always tried saying something nice to them and my daughter usually gets a smile from all of them.

AMY  the NP I go to has dropped 2 pills I have taken for years and I really like that. Will see if it works in July when I go for blood work. I have stopped on a back road to let a pheasant and her babies cross the road. So cute to see the little ones all in a line following mama.

SHIRLEY  thanks for the message from Steve Jobs. I have copied it and will share it with others. Maybe I should print it and put on the bulletin board, maybe the witch would read it and become a better person. Nah she is too mean.

PHYLLIS  it is more frightening when something happens to our children than to ourselves.  My daughter knows me so well and when she had surgery a few months ago she made it sound like nothing to worry about. After she was home again she told me it was cancer. They got it all and she did not need chemo but had radiation for 5 weeks. Last doctor visit everything is good. Thank God.

JANE  like you weather guesser here said an inch of rain today and possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

Have a good day.

Did Jesus Use...
(Author Unknown)

Did Jesus use Twitter,
At the Sermon on the Mount?
Did He ever try Facebook,
To send His message out?
Did the disciples carry cell phones,
As they went about their route?
Did Jesus use Twitter,
At the Sermon on the Mount?

Did Paul use a Laptop,
With lots of RAM and ROM?
Were his letters posted on a blog,
At Paul.Rome.Com?
Did the man from Macedonia,
Send an E-Mail saying "Come?"
Did Paul use a Laptop,
With lots of RAM and ROM?

Did Moses use a joystick,
At the parting of the Sea?
And a Satellite Guidance Tracking System,
To show him where to be?
Did he write the law on tablets,
Or are they really on CD?
Did Moses use a joystick,
At the parting of the Sea?

Did Jesus really die for us,
One day upon a tree?
Or was it just a Hologram,
Or Technical Wizardry?
Can you download the Live Action Video Clip,
To play on your PC?
Did Jesus really die for us,
One day upon a tree?

Have the wonders of this modern age,
Made you question what is true?
How a single man, in a "simple time",
Could offer life anew?
How a sinless life, a cruel death,
Then a glorious life again,
Could offer more to a desperate world,
Than all the inventions of man?

If in your life, the voice of God,
Is sometimes hard to hear.
With other voices calling,
His doesn't touch your ear.
Then set aside your laptop,
And all your fancy gear.
And open your Bible, open your heart,
And let your Father draw near

Gloria, when I'm in S&F, I can go to the very top of the page and there's a line that reads:  Home Forum Help Search Profile My Messages Calendar etc.  I have found birthdays on the Calendar folder when/if I take time to look.  I have never put my birthday in the folder and it is mostly remembered because of Shirleyn in Norm's B&T who does have it on a list.  I usually try to soft pedal my birthday - habit now and I don't remember why I got started.  I heard from all of my family except one great-niece and I think I heard from everyone who posts in this folder and in Norm's B&T.  It was a great birthday and it's not over yet as several of us will get together Saturday or Sunday at a restaurant in Allendale, then Annie will take me to lunch.  My cup runneth over!

Jane, Happy Birthday a couple days in advance.  Your FENCE plans sound like fun.  And I hope you have a wonderful time in Texas.  The chair for Emma is a great idea.

Phyllis, I'm glad to hear your son doesn't have A-fib.  When I was diagnosed, I had a heartbeat so fast the doctor could not count the beats.  That's when he sent me to the cardiologist.  I was much older than 63, but I know things can happen at any age, even younger than 63.

Good morning Amy and June - I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Everyone.  It is a truly beautiful morning here in South Carolina with no rain in the forecast.  Only two things on my schedule for today.  I will make a quick trip to Aldi's for a few items later this morning and a stop at the Hardware store for one item. This evening we will have our dinner at the Church and then Scott and Elizabeth will be coming out to the house. We had a great visit yesterday with the lady from Tennessee, a very special friend, who visited with us for 3 hours, including lunch.

Shirley, my grandmother used to take digitalis for her heart condition but I never knew what the problem was so she may have had A Fib.  I know she worked extremely hard but lived well into her 90's.  The last seven years of which she lived in a nursing home as she refused to move in with my mother and father as had lived with her in-laws the first 10 years of her marriage and it apparently wasn't a happy experience for her.  I think the heart medicines I have taken for many years is probably why I am still around and why I don't too often have angina as the medications control it.  That is a great idea to have your friends come to your motor home in a Walmart parking lot rather than trying to deal with streets where their homes may be. Years ago Pat's uncle came to visit up in Maryland in his motor home and backed into our mailbox.  Shirley, thanks for sharing the piece by Steve Jobs as it contains so much wisdom.  Each day as we age and our health wanes I think we can understand more what he is talking about.

Mary Ann, you are quite the party gal.  Spreading it out gives you more time to visit with the person taking you to lunch rather than in one large group.

June, you sound like me in wanting to accomplish at least one special thing each day as you did with your coffee pot.  It sounds like you had a fairly busy day with the food meeting and going to the small dining room for lunch.

Jane, what a delightful thing to happen with the thoughtful note the lady gave you in your line yesterday. I didn't realize your trip to Texas was at hand and you will get to see that new baby.  That sounds like a very good gift that will be around a long time and perhaps be used by future generations as well.

Amy, it is encouraging when a medication can be reduced rather than another one added on top of the stack.  There are apparently a lot of wild turkeys in our county and there is a turkey hunting season.

Phyllis, it sounds like Kevin really received good news from his doctor and glad to see he was released from the hospital.  I understand your feelings of concern for your son.  My son has had a heart attack and has other health issues, including being bi-polar.  I try not to worry too much about him as there is nothing I can do about his health situation and my worrying doesn't change a thing.

Gloria, I don't think your state has any monopoly on crooked politicians as they seem to be everywhere.  We did enjoy our company although both Pat and I immediately laid down for a nap after she left as we hadn't done three hours of talking for a long time.

My Gary has AFib also, and he too is doing finel His started last year...he was 62. He chose to have a shock treatment to get the heart regulated. The first shock did not do it so he had another, and it worked. The heart was beating properly. He still gets a little rapid beat now and then, but he accepts that. Mine does weird things too, but I accept it. All of me I have put into  God's Hands, and I am very comfortable being there/

I saw my dear doctor today...I love her ! She filled me in on the xrays of my back she had ordered when I fell on my butt. Plus she checked my feet, because of the poor circulation, and spent more time than we are usually alloted.

Other than that visit it has been a sort of so-so day.  I did all the usual readings this morning, went down for lunch with my buddies, attended the Food committee meeting.....our leader wasn't there as she had cancers removed from both arms. But we managed to get questions answered.

Now it is time to have some supper at home, and get my laundry bundled up for Pick-up tomorrow. So I will bid you an early goodnight, and look forward to our meeting tomorrow. I love you my cyber buddies. God be with you.  June

It never ceases to amaze me how close I feel to everyone here!  Most of you, I've never seen but I feel like I know you so well!

I'm going to try to get 2 more things done before I go to bed.  Then tomorrow, I'll try to lay out everything that I think I might take with me to Texas.  Then I'll put half of it away again.  My daughter should have arrived in Maryland by now.  She's spending the night with her daughter and they are both coming to Lewisburg tomorrow.  I can't wait to see them.  It's always too long between visits.

I think I have the doggies all organized for Bridget.  She and I have been in text contact off and on all day clearing up details.  I think she's pretty organized and I know she loves the doggies so they'll be fine.

As soon as the dryer stops, I'll take care of that load of laundry and then I'm going to toss some stuff that's taken up space in the fridge for too long.  Those are my two goals for tonight.  Then I'm off to bed.

So I'll bid you all a Good Night and a Happy Tomorrow.  God be with you all!

June, you jogged my memory; I had the shock treatment too and it worked for two days, then went off the wagon again.  I did not have it done a second time.  Sometimes I am aware of my breathing, but usually I do not feel any different than I ever have.  I am not aware of any fast heartbeats, but I know when I go up steps, I can feel faster heartbeats.  However, it is a matter of seconds before I am back to normal.  Ordinarily I do not have many steps except at my dentist's and his building is a bi-level with his office being up about 8 or 10 steps.  When I go there, Tom takes me up the steps and I have no trouble getting down.  My optometrist is in the same building but she is on the lower level and I can walk right in - no steps.

I, too, feel I know everyone here, and it is always good to hear what is going on in your lives.

I just looked at radar and I saw some snow in Canada about where I think Amy lives.  I hope that snow isn't in her yard.

Good morning everyone..

Still raining here and there are flood warning in some areas, not here though.  Hubby had his heart shocked and it did work at the time but not for long. He wasn't asked to do it again, and like a lot of you just lives with it.

Mary Ann, I put the snow blower away yesterday so snow is not welcomed here now  :knuppel2:

Jane, don't tucker yourself out. I can imagine the hugs and laughter when your daughter and granddaughter get there!!

June, I likely beat you to bed last night a trip to the chiropractor  did me in. We were all in bed by 8 pm last night!

Lloyd, how are you doing? Any more calves? Love going for a drive and see calves dot the pastures.

Jenny, hope you are feeling much better now that the meds are working .

Larry, they have a hunting season here also but I think the turkeys multiply faster than my dust bunnies!

Speaking of which I had better chase the dust bunnies before VON gets here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  We have a another very bright morning with clear skies.  However, there is a chance of rain later this morning and the rest of the day although the percentage chance of having it isn't too high.  I ended up not feeling up to going to Aldi's yesterday morning so will make a quick stop there after coffee on the way home from taking my friend back to his assisted living home.  There is a new Dollar Tree very close to where he lives so will make a quick stop there to pick up a birthday card for our youngest great grandchild who is turning seven on the 29th.  We did have a good dinner at church last night as the Shepard's Pie was delicious.

Jenny, if you encounter that error message in the future try using the back arrow in the bowser since as long as you haven't closed the browser out you can often get back to where you were.  You all have such interesting weather out your way.  I think Jennifer is all right now but she is dealing with "issues" and has chosen not to go to the dinners at Church and is not coming out here.  She has already decided she will be sad on her birthday as it is Mother's Day as well.  Nothing like planning ahead!

Lloyd, I have a feeling most of us relate to the forgetting things.  I have to laugh at myself sometimes as it will take me two or three tries before I actually do something I had started out to do as get side-tracked with something else.

June, did the x-rays of your back show you had damaged it?  Glad you like your doctor so much.  I hope you got a good nights sleep and have a good day today.

Jane, I feel the same way about our folks here.  It sounds like you will be having a great next few days being with your daughter  and granddaughter and then making your trip.

Mary Ann, I am surprised your dentist's office doesn't have a ramp as that is pretty much required in places serving the public.

Amy, hope you won't need that snow blower again until the winter season starts.  I am spending more and more time laying down as I always feel better doing so.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for some time and I checked my email a couple of times to see if anyone from here had posted.  It didn't give me any names.  I finally came in the hard way and there you all were!

I don't know why I'm suddenly not getting notifications.

I've completed 4 things on my to-do list (there were nine things on the list.  Since them I've been adding things and now I have 14 things to do!  Doesn't look like I'm making much progress, does it?

Last night I texted my daughter and asked her if I don't get packed can I wear her clothes.  She said, I can.  However, she doesn't dress like I do so I guess I better get with the program.

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone, still misty out but 53°. Forsythia is starting to bloom and even the dandelions are showing up. Landscapers were not here yesterday because of the rain.

MARY ANN   I forgot about those things at the top of the page. I am a creature of habit and head here to the SS right away. Like you to me my birthday is just another day, no big deal. Cannot sit here long, have to get up and walk around, takes me a long time just to get through the posts here in the SS.

LARRY  sun is supposed to shine later but more rain tomorrow. Like you even he 2 hours my  CNA is here I have to lay down and enjoy the quiet again. The ones I have all talk too much.

JENNY  we had almost 2 inches of rain yesterday, hope we do see sunshine later.

JUNE  you do much more in a day than I can.

JANE  like you at times I feel this group is more like my family than my real family. I get to "talk" to you every day. My sons call often and my daughter and I on Skype every day.

MARY ANN  glad all the doctors I see are on the ground floor or have ramps, no stairs.

AMY  hope we have seen the last of the snow.

LLOYD  I am waiting for the sun to break out from the clouds now.

LARRY  good morning.

JANE  I know when I headed to San Diego every year I would pack and repack. I sure did not need to take too may clothes as what I brought could be washed there. Had  to leave room for  things I bought there.
Have a good day.

Unwanted house guests
Joseph J. Mazzella

Have you ever had unwanted house guests? I am talking about the ones who wear out their welcome in the first two minutes yet plan to stay forever. I am talking about the ones who trash the place, eat all the food, sit in your favorite chair, and take over your bed. I am talking about the ones that even your dogs avoid. I am talking about the ones that take everything and give back nothing. I am talking about the ones that only brighten up a room when they leave it.

I had two guests like this for years. Their names were Fear and Hate and they seemed like permanent squatters in my soul. Every time I would try and toss them out, I would look around a few days later and find that they had snuck back in. They also invited their friends Worry, Doubt, Jealousy, Envy, Frustration, Depression, and Despair to stay as well. It made for a miserable home and a miserable life.

Finally one day I could take it no longer. I cried out to God to help me get rid of these unwanted guests once and for all. It was then that I heard a gentle knock on the door of my soul. When I opened it I found Love there smiling at me. I invited Love in and watched as my unwanted house guests fled out the door and through the windows. They couldn’t leave quick enough. Then Love asked his friends Peace and Joy over to help straighten up the place. I soon realized too that Love was a guest I never wanted to leave. Every now and then Fear and Hate will try to sneak back in, but when they see Love sitting on the couch they run.

God loves us so much and He wants us to love as well. He wants us to choose love, share love, and fill our lives with love. He wants us to love each other as He loves us. He wants us to make Love our permanent house guest and best friend. Open your door then. Invite Love in. Let Fear and Hate hit the highway. Make your home a happy one now and forever.

Larry, I have been going to this dental practice for about 40 years.  My original dentist there owned the building and sometime before he died, he admitted it was a mistake to have the building built as it was.  There also is no elevator.  At this stage of my life, I don't want to change doctors especially since I like the dentist who took over when my dentist died.  Tom does help me up the steps and I can make it down OK.  I don't know that there is room for a ramp as when you get in the building, there are steps up and steps down and no room for anything else.  Oh well, I'll survive!

I think we will be in the 60s today and the sun is already shining.  Amy, is looks as if the rain is leaving what I think is your area.  No rain to your west, but Mother Nature has a way of surprising us sometimes.

Jane, hurry with your packing so you don't have to wear your daughter's clothes!

Gloria, I think I also am a creature of habit, but I'm also nosy and I find myself wandering all over the place sometimes.

Mary Ann

Purple is for the Viking football and Hockey and all my Minnesota relatives and friends.

I hope you have have an allergy in Arizona - it was like a sledgehammer hitting my head... well, that is exaggerating somewhat but not completely.  We have been here many times in winter/spring and have never felt like this but I am on the mend and we leave for home tomorrow.  I made egg salad and baked brownies in cup cake holders so we can have sandwiches and such between the long spaces of any towns on the road.

Don informs me that the car is packed and we made the guesstimate of how much to bring home.
Phyllis:  Prayers for you son and you as well -
Take care everyone, I will check on you in a couple of days.

Good evening, cable has been down most of the afternoon. No TV, phone or of course PC

Gloria and Jane, I have always saisdmy cyber friends are family. Gloria I feel like you are a neighbor, I can wave across the Sound
Jane, have a safe trip.

Larry, I also surprised that the doctors offices do not have automatic door. My primary doctor has a high curve right in front of the main entrance.  My cardiologist has two doors to go through to get to the waiting room, and I am always struggling with my pushmobile to get in, when some one leaves me off in front.

Okay, Gloria, just want you to stop & think about all that Love coming in.... that's how I wound up with all these CATS!   :2funny:

I've been trying to get into my Yahoo mailbox because last night I got the notice my 23&Me DNA results are back & I stayed up until past 1:00 am reading... and can't get in tonight when I finally have time to look it over more.  I have no bad markers for anything except "slight elevated for chance of Age Related MacDeGen...." and no sign of it when I had my check up in Jan of this year so not going to worry about that~~  Anyway, another busy day & beautiful weather.  Daughter picked up KFC & came for lunch, we talk non stop & still rattling on as she goes out the door.  I really like my kids (as well as love them).  Cats are all waiting to come in so will
check in here later.  Hope everyone has a wonderful & restful sleep tonight & wake up "bright eyed & bushy tailed" in the morning.
Hugs and God Bless as Hal used to often tell us.  Shirley

Well, I'm getting closer to being ready to take off on Sunday afternoon but I still don't have much laid out to go into the suitcase.  Seems every time I plan my day to include some packing, something happens to run me off the track.

This morning, I took Annie to the vet for her scheduled checkup at 10:20 and they looked on the schedule and said, "You have the right day but the wrong time.  You're not due until 1:20"  And as I started out the door, someone noticed that Mickie was due for some updates and did I want to bring her along with me when I came back.  Taking 2 dogs to the vet at once is a bit more time consuming.  But I did get some errands done before I had to go back.

Then it was time to pick up Kiran at the bus and she forgot it my my day and just as I thought I'd have to chase her down she looked back and saw me standing in my usual spot.

I did take all the stuff off my desk and went through it and sorted while she was playing on the computer so by the time I took her home the desk was cleaned off and Bridget will have a place to work if she needs to use the computer for school work while she's here.

Last week I had the car in for all over service so it wouldn't let Bridget down and this afternoon there's a bird under the hood.  Now I'm going to have to take the time to have that checked...hopefully tomorrow.  And I wanted to wash it and vacuum the inside tomorrow.

I'm thinking it will be a busy day tomorrow!

Better get to bed and get some sleep so I don't wash out before I get some things done.  Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep peacefully and wake with the morning light....or sleep in if you prefer!

Another day has gone to bed, and I find I have not posted yet.for shame on me. I woke in the wee hours  of the morning again, then fell asleep again at mid morning, so my time is all mixed up.I have to get that fixed properly,  or just sleep my days away..

Larry, you asked about the back xrays. It showed some bruising and the beginning of some scoliosis which didn't surprise me.I still need to take meds by the end of the day.

Gloria de, it really surprises me that some doctors still have stairs to climb and heavy doors to open. They would lose me a patient right away.

Janie, I hope you have a very restful vacation, you have certainly earned it. Every day is a vacation for this old girl now.

May you all have a peaceful night and a perfect tomorrow. Hugs, Love and lots of peace and prayers. Jund

Good morning everyone..

Goodness Jane you tuckered me out just reading what you did yesterday!! Hope today you can enjoy it a bit and not go 100 miles and hour.

Tidy up day and take the garbage to the dump today.not much else on the agenda.

Mary Ann we did see sun and hope to see more of it today as tomorrow they say it will be rain or snow!!

Gloria, I do hope we don't see the snow /rain they are calling for on Sat. Our snow has just about gone, only a ridge where I blew it  is left.

Larry, this week has found me doing  a lot of nothing ,sure hope next week is better.

Better get  moving

Enjoy your day everyone..

Well, I've been up and attem!  I called the garage as soon as they were open and gave them my sob story and she said, "If you can drop it off we'll take a look at it".  The guy who brought me home (in my car) said it sounds like a loose belt.  I can live with that.  But my plan to wash and vacuum it are out the window.  #1 I don't have the car; and #2 It's pouring and supposed to keep this up all day.  I think it might be God's way of saying "Pack your suitcase!

And who am I to argue with God's will.  I'm packing! I'm packing!

Good morning, Amy and all the other friends.    Amy, hope your snow is overwith for now.  I don't think we will be seeing anymore...... hopefully for a long time.

Happy Birthday,  Jane.  Sounds like you will spend your birthday being very busy.  I know you are so excited about you upcoming visit to see your new great-granddaughter, Emma.  Don't tire yourself out getting ready to go.  Everything will just fall into place.   Try to enjoy your special  day.

A kind dreary day, but so far, no rain up in my area.   Lots of showers all around, but still dry here.  SUpposed to be a nice week end, and then temperatures up near 80º  by the middle of next week.

To all the friends.... Have a pleasant day !!!

Hi Everyone.  Our day starts out cloudy and it will only get to 73 this afternoon.  I plan on staying home all day unless we decide to go out and eat our main meal.  Pat has been in the house for several days now so she may want to do so.

Yesterday was a busy day as was gone all morning and accomplished what I had set out to do.  Before I left I called the Tech Support company I contracted with in January (and had forgotten that I had done so but saw a note on my calendar to remind me).  I had them do a spring cleaning of my desktop and today will have them do it on my laptop as I can't get the Chrome browser to even install on it.  I am using the Chrome browser on my desktop now, which I haven't been able to do for sometime.  I will have them check over two computers every three months or if I encounter a problem.  They suggested a security program I had not heard of called ESET so I am going to check that out today.  So it should be a restful day.

Jane, Happy Birthday.  It sounds like you better draw a line on your to-do list so you don't add anything else.

Gloria, your mention of dandelions makes me think I don't remember seeing many of those around here.  Of course the yards in our neighborhood are treated to prevent them by the yard company.  I still remember how very large the dandelions were in Alaska.  The reading about the "Unwanted House Guests" is a good one.

Mary Ann, the Church I attended as I was growing up had probably about 9 steps to get into the it.  As a young person I never thought much about how difficult that must have been for some of our older members.  Our town is built on the river bluffs of the Savannah River and there are lost of slopes and hills.  Fortunately, our Church here has some flat or nearly flat parking but also has three other buildings where there are steps and the parking for that requires going up a slope that leaves me huffing and puffing when I park there.  Fortunately there is an elevator that in the building where we attend Sunday School that takes us from the lower lever up to the Sanctuary level.

Carol, hope you and Don have a good trip home and won't have worn yourselves out completely.

deAngel, with your cable off it gave you a good time to read your book or take a nap.  Several of the doctor's offices I go to have handicapped doors where you can push a button and they open for you.  That is very helpful.

Shirley, it sounds like your DNA test results must have been interesting.  I haven't yet gotten the bug to have my DNA tested.  Are you dogs good patients at the vets and do they like riding in your car?  Does Bridget stay at your house while you are gone or just come in to take care of the dogs?

June, I am with you on doctors and steps.

Amy, sure hope the snow stays away and you only get rain tomorrow.  I find a lot of nothing to do around here and stay as busy as I want to be.

Joy, enjoy your nice day and maybe the showers will stay away.

Larry, the first church I remember must have had 25 steps to the sanctuary.  We could also go in another door to the Sunday school rooms and the steps up there were broken by a landing.  Our present church has only a step or two at all of the doors and we do have an elevator to take us to the lower level.  Our other church was built in 1900 and that must have been the norm for churches built at that time to have many steps.  Even now when I've attended Jim's church in Indps, they have about 15-20 steps to get into church and not only that, when I go in a side door I have to walk around two sides of the sanctuary to get in.  Their church is over 100 years old, but the building is not that old.  And that family has always sat in the balcony - I can no longer navigate the steps so we sit in the sanctuary.  I am planning to go to Indps in early June when everyone is there and I think that will be my last trip down.  Age has its disadvantages!

Good morning everyone, bad night for sleeping. About 4 am the sandman finally arrived. This will be short and sweet. Have to get dressed and moving before CNA gets here.

MARY ANN  there are a few nosy ones in this building. Some in the front who sit in the window looking at everyone who comes in or goes out.

CAROL  have a safe trip.

GLORIA de  yes we are like family. Remember how we felt when SN shut us out? Remember the round robin of email? Don't know who started them but the names on them must have had just about everyone in SN, many I did not know. Yes we can wave across the sound and across both big ponds north and south. Amazes me how many areas of the earth are covered by those who post here. I agree about some of the doors to their offices.

SHIRLEY  I got a few emails yesterday from some of the PSP groups about Yahoo and everything being different. I have not read any of them through yet. Big change something about Verizon and something else.

JANE   reading your post from yesterday made me so tired I am ready to go back to bed.

AMY  woke to sun but it pulled up the cloud blanket and went back to sleep. Think the weeping will be along soon.

JANE  if I want  to get out for some fresh air I better get a move on before the rain gets here.

Have a good day.

Hello Everyfriend!  Thank you for all the birthday wishes.  I'm not going to name names because I haven't taken notes and i don't want to risk missing anyone.  I love all the wishes and I'm happy to be remembered.

Larry, I think you have Shirley and Me mixed up.  She has kitties.  I'm the ones with the doggies.  Bridget is my grandniece ans she will sleep here and take care of the doggies and use my car to get back and forth from classes at the university.  Her school is about 15 miles from where I live and over the years, she's visited for a couple of weeks each summer so she's familiar with the house, the doggies and the area.  She's 21 and very responsible and a very good driver.  I'm not a bit worried about anything.  I'll miss the doggies but I know they're  in good hands.

I'm getting there.  Someone, I think Gloria, advised me to stop putting things on my todo list.  I took your advice and I'm down to 7 things...3 of which can't be done until Sunday and will take care of themselves...I hope.  I have it all organized.  I have two things for today, 3 for tomorrow and 2 for Sunday.  Then I get to sit in the car and relax for 2 plus hours while someone else drives.  My vacation will have begun!  And I'm never taking another vacation!  It's hard work!!

Today is gorgeous!! We have waited a long time for this and I am really enjoying the lovely weather and so is the rhubarb it is peeking up!!! Pie not yet but when tall enough soon will be.

We started to do some yard work and I thought I would go to the back yard and work and Pa raked thee front. When I looked back at him he was flat on  the ground!!Well, he doesn't have much strength in him and I tried to get him up but ended up telling /helping him on his knees and then I bend down on all fours and told him to push down on my back to help him up. Can, you just picture this??? Thankfully he was alright.!!  We now have 3 more bags of yard garbage to go to the dump tomorrow.

Cindy and I are going to Oklahoma.  Emma is still a bit small for travelling.  I think we discussed it and you seemed to think that OKC was pretty far off our trail north, didn't we!  Seems like we should be able to have lunch or something enroute?

Jane, I suspected Emma was a bit young to be traveling - but parents these days don't always think that way!

The most direct route is up Highway 69/75 and that's about a 3 hour drive east of here - a tad bit far to drive for lunch.   :(    I think you did this once before - and went through my hometown.

You're right, CALLIE.  I traveled this route when I went North to Wisconsin to help my close cousin turn 65.  I met my sister and her family there and then had company for the rest of the trip home.

On that trip, I stayed outside of Tulsa the first night out because I didn't leave Dallas until about 1 p.m.  I wish it was a bit closer.  I'm sure my daughter wouldn't mind stopping.  My kids think this group is unreal and they love hearing about them and once or twice, meeting someone from the group.

Supper at THE FENCE was good, the company was special and we all had a good time.  We went back to daughter Cathy's house for ice cream and "birthday brownies".  I'm not much of a cake lover and they know it so they do something different for my birthday.  Cathy always has "birthday cherry pie" for here special day.

I'm really tired and I got most of the packing done today and they picked up the car from the garage on the way to bring me home.  It was "no charge" today but I have to get a new compressor for the A/C.  I remember it was off at the tail end of the season last year and I decided to tough it out and get it fixed this year.  Well, the time has come!!  Now I have to do that!  But, like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow.

Good night my friends.  Sleep peacefully and wake to a happy day tomorrow.

Your last breath
Bob Perks

What if this were your last breath? If you knew right now that this breath was your last breath...ever, what would you do?  Would you try to hold onto it longer? Would you breathe it in deeper than ever before expanding your lungs to capacity until you could not take in anymore? Would you breathe slower?

Perhaps you would look around one last time to truly appreciate your life and all that you cherish at that very moment. Or, would you panic and struggle, gasping for more, and miss the last opportunity to enjoy it all? Breathing slowly, deeply, you could begin to count all of your blessings and if done properly, you could take the time to thank God for everything.

Would you, after filling your lungs to capacity and holding the sweet, precious air as long as possible, then consciously decide to exhale as slowly as you could? It is after all your very last breath.

I know I would. I believe you would, too.

Think about it.  One breath of life.  How valuable would it be to you?  What would you give for it at that moment?

Then permit me to point out the obvious. You only have one life. Why do you waste so much of it worrying, crying, whining, and unhappy?

Live your life as you would live your last breath.

Slow down and inhale the precious gift of being alive.

Hold onto every moment and fill your day to capacity until you cannot grasp more of it.

Exhale the noxious fumes of hatred and unforgiving ways of the world.  Let go of the past impurities which hardened your spirit and darkened your days.

Breathe in again the very essence of life as if this was indeed the last breath.

Breathe slowly.  Inhale.

Breathe slowly. Exhale.

Breathe knowing it is the only life you have, the first and last breath you'll take.

Think about it.  One breath of life.  How valuable would it be to you?  What would you give for it at this moment?

One life, one breath.  Now take a deep breath. Hold onto it for as long as you can. Think how incredibly valuable it is.  Be thankful for it.  Exhale slowly and rid yourself of all the negativity.

That's how you should live your life.

It is after all, One life, One breath.

Good morning everyone..

Looks as though we may of had rain over night..and the sky is covered in dark clouds. I had hoped to hang laundry out but will wait and see. Just have to pick up hubby's blister packs in town and that is it.

Good morning Gloria, I have always been this way, think it comes from all the work on the farm. Our temp is 34° F at the moment. I debated on putting a fire on or leaving it off . I did start one but it may not be on the rest of the day.If it does rain then , yes it will stay on.

Jane, sounds like you are having a fun time and it is well deserved too.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I really wanted to go to the car wash today and use their vacuum to clean "winter" out of the car and then wash the outside so it's clean for Bridget but it looks like it's going to rain later.  I might get ready and go early anyway.  There's a lot of crud inside that I'd rather not leave for Bridget.  At least I'll know it's clean to start out with.

Amy, you are a wonder!  That must have been scary trying to get hubby off the ground.  And scary seeing him there!

Now I'm going to get my day started.  I hope you all have a good one!

A good Saturday morning to all you early friends......Jane,  Gloria and Amy !

Amy, I have to agree with Gloria..... that must have been scary trying to help your husband get up.  Can't imagine how you were able to do what you did.  You are really a strong lady.... in more ways than one.   All you can get done in a day  is remarkable.

Jane, glad you had such a nice birthday with your family .   Sure wishing you a wonderful trip.  You said you would have a 2 hour ride..... I am assuming you will be leaving from BWI ???   I will wave as you fly over.

My DIL will pick up my  Walmart grocery order around noon.  I am really running out of a lot of things.  Then, I will have the fun of putting it all away.

Later this afternoon, I  plan on doing some laundry.  I am running out of clothes.  I find if I wait until later in the day,  I have the whole laundry room to myself and I can get it done pretty quick. Most of the ones here usually get theirs done early.   Since I am not a morning person, this works out good for me.

I hope everyone will have a great day.  It is a pretty sunny morning in my little corner of the world.  Still a little chilly, but sunny and no wind.  The weatherman is calling for a little more snow up in the Western mountains.   Winter is still hanging around.

Joy

Sunny here this morning, too.  It's nice and lifts the spirits.

Happy Belated Birthday, Jane, and safe travels.  Enjoy your vacation and being with family....especially that new, little baby.

I don't like to go to the home improvement store on a weekend because it is so busy but I really need to get a filter for the refrigerator water/ice dispenser.  It's been acting strangely lately and I'm hoping a clogged filter is the problem.  I would like to have it be a cheap fix rather than calling an appliance repairman, who is definitely NOT cheap!

Make it a good day and a perfect weekend and I'll "talk" to you all later.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for April 15,2018

Hi Everyone.  The day is bright and sunny and will get into the mid to high 70's this afternoon.  I plan on attending a meeting at 10:30 this morning and then spend the rest of the day at home.  About the only thing we did yesterday was go out to dinner around 6 pm.

The tech worked on my laptop for most of the day and wasn't able to get the problem fixed but he thinks he has identified what the problem. It is going tol require a repair of the Windows 10 software  and possibly a clean install of Windows 10.  His workday was over and he said he would work on it Monday.  However, I know how to do the Windows repair of software or a clean install and will go ahead and do it this weekend. Fortunately I don't have very much on this laptop so will be sure to save any files and make a list of the programs I have running on it.  That will give me a good project for today.  I was able to setup the speed dial on Pat cellphone and am working on getting her address book straightened out.

Mary Ann, the Church Stacey attended in Atlanta for 8 years was old and had no elevator.  There was a handicapped ramp on a side entrance but it wasn't very friendly to wheelchairs.  While she was attending they did do some remodeling inside the Church to make it more friendly for handicapped including a way for wheelchairs to get on the raised platform.  The sidewalks around the Church and to the subway station were in bad shape and she actually had to ride her wheelchair out in the street on part of the two or three block ride.

Gloria, I had just the opposite problem in terms of not being able to sleep after 3:30 this morning as you had Thursday night.  I hope you slept better last night. I doubt that most people ever read the Terms of Service as they are long and complicated.  I have never read anything about Oath.  The big companies just get bigger and bigger. Glad you were able to beat the rain yesterday when you went out.

Jane, I know you have dogs but it appears I had another senior moment as I wrote and changed your dogs into cats.  That sounds like a good arrangement with Bridget and nice that she is in the family.  Glad you don't have to put the dogs in a kennel while you are gone.  Vacationing is a pleasant change but not always restful.  I just hope you have a marvelous time on your vacation.

Amy, nice to see you had a gorgeous day yesterday but see your day today may not be as nice.  We had a big rhubarb patch on the farm as I grew up.  However, I have never cared for rhubarb but those big leaves made great things to play with as a child.  It sounds like the yard work may have been to much for your husband.  I am pretty sure I couldn't get my wife up if she fell and would have to call 911 for help.

Callie, we are about 2 1/2 hours away from where me moved from in the Atlanta area and we have gone halfway and met friends for lunch on several occasions.  This has worked very well and the trip isn't as hard or long as sometimes was trying to get to places in Atlanta that was usually took an hour or more.  The air conditioner on my PT Cruiser isn't cooling and I am hoping it is just needing a touch up of Freon as I spent quite a bit of money last year having repairs done on the AC.  If it is more than the Freon I may just take it out for a short spin early in the mornings before it gets too hot to keep the battery up during the summer and not worry about it as we really don't need the second car anymore.

June, it sounds like you accomplished quite a bit with the walk, eating downstairs and going to your library.

Joy, isn't the online grocery ordering great.  You can do it at leisure and then the other person only needs to stop and have it loaded into the car and not have to walk the aisles for you.

Lloyd, glad you weren't hurt in falling out of bed.  I hope you enjoy your day of sunshine.

Phyllis, aren't those refrigerator filters expensive?  Does your ice dispenser sometime spit out a cube or two after you stop dispensing or not get all the cubes in the ice bins when it completes the freezing cycle?  This is a problem for us.

I don't know much about the cost of appliance repair, I'm happy to say.  That's the least of my worries.  That's part of my son's business.  If something isn't working, I just send him a text and he either stops by and fixes it or sends someone.  As for filters, when the light comes on, I tell him I need a filter and when he picks up Kiran the next time he changes it.  I'm lucky in that respect.  Now if I had someone who fixed cars or did landscaping.....

The day has come and gone on us. I did manage to get the laundry on the line too   Met with some friends in town  and she brought  in a bag of fabric scraps she didn't want and one had 12  18 " blocks in it. After we got home I put it together and now have a cancer quilt to send in. Lots of goodies in the bag to share with my daughter in love too.

Lloyd, you are going to have to install a seat belt just so you don't fall out of bed! Glad you went hurt.

Joy, scared the dickens out of me but tried not to let it show. This is not the first time I have had to help him up from a fall so we know what works and what doesn't.

Wood box is filled and another load ready to go in.....time to put my feet up.

Amy, I wish I had thought of that when Cas fell.  I heard a "thud" when I was downstairs on my computer & took the steps 3 at a time, found him in the DARK hall, has black slate floor & he had not turned a light on... he had bumped into the entrance of the living room door facing having walked down the dark hall from the bedrooms.  The house is sort of a "W" shape, even the movers had trouble with all lights on.  Anyway, I couldn't lift him & he insisted waiting a few minutes until he caught his breath, wouldn't let me call our sons or 911.  I had already turned on lights and saw he was bleeding everywhere.... running blood from his head, shoulder, arm, knees & leg. I knew immediately he was probably bleeding as much internally so really alarmed but like you, tried not to let him know.  He knew at that point his time was limited for being at home.  We were both in a state of shock.  Doesn't sound like your husband is quite as frail and I sincerely think you are 10x stronger than I am.  Glad all is good today.  We do know what "it is like" with these trials, so nice to know we aren't alone in this aging, but I wish I had thought of kneeling down to let him support himself like you did.

Larry, I sent my 12" laptop with my daughter & husband for their son to add memory (or whatever) so I can still use my old version of Paint Shop Pro.  I bought 2 newer versions to go with Vista & then Windows 10, but do know know how to set it up, got it installed but can't find all the tools like with the old version.  Anyway, that gr-son just got a big bump in salary, what he does for a living... & must be good at it because he is getting all the perks with the extra salary.  I decided instead of buying one of the new "tablets" this little Toshiba 12" laptop has a CD/DVD read & write drive as well as everything it takes to play with photos and I don't get that with any of the tablets as far as I know.  Don't need a built in camera because I have plenty of those & know how to operate them (on auto).

My son was going to add the memory but he's been babysitting his grandkids, he is the one everyone calls no matter what goes wrong, and only if he could be cloned could he do it all.  He never loses patience or says no to me or anyone, but since he is teaching a couple college classes (with over 200 students) & has all those papers to grade, he is working day & night to keep up.  I don't want to push him into a heart attack or stroke, he is 58 & that is the age his father had to have his first 3 bypasses.

I'm trying to get estimates to have the pool re-plastered & painted... no actual price yet but guesses are scaring me.  If I could get a warranty that it wouldn't need fixing again even for 5 years I'd "just do it".... don't think they will because with freezing during the winter, just no way to guarantee they can make it through a winter without work.  I just don't want to move yet.... absolutely no other house I would want to live in and would have to have cats put to sleep if I move.... Scarlett doesn't want to think about it~~~ It would cost more to have it filled in than repaired & lose value for sure, so got to get my head on straight & "buck up".

Jane, I heard a neighbor take off this morning with a screech like you mentioned.... fan belt slipping & know it can be given a shot of spray something to hold off replacing for a while, was hoping that's what your mechanic would do.  Have a great trip & don't worry about the car or pups.... sounds like they are all in good hands.

Gloria, I'm still using Yahoo but most of my friends & family have gone to G-mail.... I have a G-mail account but Yahoo came first & is the easiest for me so I'm just hanging on.

Joy, now that you mention it, I think my refrigerator has a filter but I've never changed it.  EEK!  Had my son help pull it out a couple weeks ago so I could take out all the shelves & bins to wash... and sucked & blew all the dust out of the motor stuff ... it was packed full of cat hair, etc.  I forgot to have him empty the ice bin... ice in the door.... It gets yucky after a while, I use a lot of ice year around, but the thingy that pushes the cubes out & crushes the ice doesn't clean out the corners <grin>. One more "to-do".   ::)

Better check on cats, Saturday bath night & need to trim a little hair off the back of my neck. Doesn't matter how many other days during the week I shower, I want to be my cleanest when I go to church, hang over from childhood.   ;)

Sweet dreams and God Bless.... from Hal & me~  Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and the doggies have been out and fed and I've had my coffee.  Gonna go get a shower and get ready for church and if there's any time left, I'll strip the bed and put on clean sheets for Bridget.  And that's my morning plan so far.

I think we're leaving for my daughter's house in Maryland sometime after lunch.  We'll see how the day develops.  I hope everyone has a good day today.  Don't know if I'll be back but we'll see about that, too.

I got to the home improvement store yesterday to get the fridge filter and I think every one in the town was there!  Parking lot was packed but luckily found a parking space not too far from the door.  Larry, I was a little bit shocked that the price of the filter was 53.00 plus a few cents.  And it didn't fix the problem with the ice maker so I'll have to call a repairman, I guess.  Or......buy ice cube trays and make ice the old fashioned way.  That wouldn't be so bad.  With the dish washer not working right now, too, I'm finding that it isn't such a big deal to wash the dishes by hand and, honestly, the silverware looks shinier than it does when they are washed in the dishwasher.

And, yes, I was having that problem with too much water spitting into the ice maker but now it doesn't put water into it at all!  So, no water....no ice.  It seems to me that most of these "conveniences" are not at all convenient!   ::)

Jane, do you suppose you could get your son to come down to North Carolina and fix all my problems?  I would bake a cake for him, or make a really good beef stew, ....or something.....please!?  Well, I suppose he is pretty busy and doesn't really have time to take on more problems so if I get irritated enough with broken appliances I'll have to find someone here to fix them. <sigh>

Amy, you are so clever to make like a chair so your husband could get himself up off the ground.  I got down on the ground in the yard one time and just couldn't get up and David couldn't get me up either so he got a lawn chair and held it steady while I managed to get on my knees and pull myself up with that support.  I must have looked like a beached whale...... :2funny:

Take care, All,......it is a jungle out there.   :o

Hi Everyone.  Once again we have a beautiful day on tap with lots of sun and it will get into the low 70's this afternoon.  My main activity today will be to attend Sunday School and Church and then pick up something for our main meal today.  Pat had to get up early as her back was hurting.  She will not attend Church today with me.

I had a very productive day yesterday as had a second day of feeling like doing something.  I did reset my Windows 10 on the laptop and got it restored.  I have decided to use Firefox as my default browser on my laptop and desk computers and just set it up on my desktop this morning.

Jane, you are fortunate to have a son who does your appliance repair and, if I recall, is going to care for your yard.  My son is changing our furnace filters since putting my arms over my head makes me dizzy plus have to stand on a step stool, which I don't think is wise anymore. Hope you have a great trip.

Amy, I keep wondering when Pat will stop working with the scraps and start using some of the nice fabric she has stored in boxes in her sewing room and the new squares of fabric she seems to be getting about every month.  You might get some good ideas on how to get your hubby up when he falls by doing an internet search.  I did a quick search and see there are a number of sites with information relating to seniors and falling.

Lloyd, I love raisin bread and haven't had any for a long time.  However, you can have my chocolate milk. Hope you had no ache and pains from your falling out of bed.

Shirley, falls happen so suddenly and expectantly.  I sincerely doubt I could get Pat up as have to give her a hand sometimes to get up from restaurant tables or booths and she has to lift each of her legs to get them in the car.  Your grandson must be a very accomplished person to get a big bump in salary and perks.  I have never wanted a swimming pool and they sound like a money pit with all the maintenance required.  I emptied our ice bin a few days ago and was surprised how little frost and chipped ice was in the bottom of it because had been quite awhile since I had done that.  We use a lot of ice so it doesn't have time to get stale.

Phyllis,  I knew those fridge filters were expensive.  We haven't used the filter for a number of years as it isn't required for the ice maker to work.  I often hand wash some of the bigger items like pans or bowls or skillets as they take up so much room in the dishwasher.  I have to check under the door for the ice dispenser as often one of more clubs may get caught and that stops the dispensing process.

Good morning everyone. 51°. Woke late and to the sound of rain again. Yesterday was a perfect spring day, went into the low 70's and felt great  to have a light jacket on in the morning when I went out.  Spent most of the day out but my back started acting up late afternoon. Did not hear the weather but now I know why it started hurting--rain was on the way.

AMY  I was always active but not the heavy farm work you did. Gets me angry with myself that I can no longer do much of any thing.

JANE  if I do not get to see you lat er I wish you a safe trip and give Emma a little squeeze for me. Nothing like holding a baby.

JOY  Amy, Jane and Shirley both amaze me with all they do.  Makes me disgusted with me doing nothing these days. There are some in this building that go down to the laundry room in the middle of the hight.

LLOYD  gosh are you going to have rails on the sides of your bed so you do not fall out again. Glad you did not get hurt.

PHYLLIS  Mother Nature was very good to us  yesterday but she sent rain again today. She has not been nice to us this year.

LARRY  if I have to reinstall everything on this PC I think I would quit. All I know about Yahoo is it kept getting harder to sign in. The PSP groups are in Yahoo and need a Yahoo account to join them.

SHIRLEY  I only got Yahoo when I got into PSP groups for lessons and tutorials. Was easy then but with the sell outs and buy outs ot merging or whatever it just keeps getting harder to sign in.

Have a good day.

Watching over me
Joseph J. Mazzella

When I was a little boy growing up in my Grandma’s old house I would play outside for hours on the sunny, Summer days and then curl up in my bed at night for a deep, peaceful sleep. Occasionally, however, there would be some particularly vivid dream that would jar me awake for a moment. I would stare out into the darkness to see if anything was there and then roll over and go back to sleep. I can remember a few times too when I woke up, looked out into the darkness, and actually saw someone there. It was my Mom watching over me as I slept. Each time she gently told me to go back to sleep and I closed my eyes again feeling safe and loved.

I never asked Mom why she watched me sleep from time to time, but after seeing my own children grow up so fast I think I know why. She wanted to capture a moment in time and hold it in her soul forever. I just hope that she carried a lot of those moments with her into Heaven when she passed away at only 55 years old.

Last night I was sleeping lightly when I suddenly felt someone near me. I opened my eyes and for the briefest of moments saw Mom’s figure standing in the room, smiling at me. And then she was gone. Now some may say that this was just a dream, a wish, or a fragment of an old memory. To me, though, it was proof that my Mom’s loving spirit was still watching over me. To me it was evidence enough to know that one day I will be reunited with her and everyone I have ever loved.

Whether we see them or not we are all being watched over by those above. Whether we believe it or not we are all being loved and helped by those above. Trust in their love then. Trust in the love of our Heavenly Father. Know that your own life can be full of love too. Then joyfully go out and live it with a brave heart, a helping hand, and a smiling soul.

A late Good Morning !

It was real pretty and sunny when I first got up, but now looks a little hazy.  Supposed to be a partly cloudy day, and still chilly. By Wednesday, it is supposed to be in the 80's for a few days.   Nothing like going from winter to summer all at once.  But, I will take all those 80º days that come along. I, for one, like the summer and don't really mind the heat at all.   Especially, after the cold winter we just had.

Jane, do hope you will have a wonderful vacation.  I know you are really looking forward to being with your family.

Amy, one of my  DIL's is a Physical Therapist and I remember one time, my husband fell, and I called her.  When she came,  she looked around and found a couple stools/chairs, that were in graduated sizes.  She just got him on the lowest seat, and gradually worked him up to where he could sit in a regular chair. She did this to show me how I could do it if I didn't have anybody to help out. She said she had done that before using different sizes of suit-cases. Fortunately, I never had to do that.  Probably wouldn't work if the person was to weak to pull themselves up to the next level, tho.  I think what you did was very clever, but you could have really hurt yourself.

Gloria, out laundry room hours are 9 a.m. to  9 p.m.  For a while, there was one lady who was doing her laundry in the middle of the night.  That got stopped real quick.  One of the male residents made it his job to go around and lock all the laundry room doors at 9 p.m.   Most residents usually do theirs in the morning, so that is why I wait until late afternoon.  I was able to get all my laundry done yesterday.  Didn't even see anybody the whole time.  I usually come back to my apartment, as the laundry room is right across the hall from me, but yesterday, I just stayed there and read some new magazines that I hadn't seen.   I wound up doing 5 loads, so that chore is done for a while now.  We are supposed to be getting all new machines, and I guess the price will go up when that happens.  When I first moved here, 10 years ago, there was a notice that the cost of doing laundry was going up, but so far, after all the time,  the cost has remained the same.  $1.25 each load,  for both washer and dryer.  The dryers run for 60 min.  so I can usually get 2 washer loads done in that time period. I set my timer for 30 min. and dry the lighter things first.  It works out good.  We have a card to insert into a slot and we can add more minutes if needed.

I see that the sun is starting to make another appearance,  so, hopefully it will warm up a little bit.  I had to push my thermostat up this morning, again, to take the chill off.  Can hardly believe that at the end of April, still having to have the furnace on.

Larry,  glad that you were feeling a lot more energetic yesterday.  Sorry Pat is not up to going to church this morning.  I slept in a little bit later this morning.  I finally just finished my breakfast,  so,  won't have to have much lunch a little later.  Nothing special going on for me today.

Last night, I wanted to watch the Hallmark movie,  The Beach House, but wound up falling asleep about half-way through it.  I was so disappointed as I had read the book and it really is a good story.  Takes place in the Charleston/Hilton Head area of S.C.  A nice story and relates to the sea turtles and their interesting way of hatching their eggs.  It is very important to protect these nesting areas.   I have a friend who lives in Hilton Head, and last year, she adopted one of the nests, but missed when the eggs hatched, as it happened in the middle of the night.   I did check this morning, and I see that it is on again at 5 p.m. Eastern time,  today. I should be able to stay awake to be able to watch it.  It is on the Hallmark Channel, if anyone is interested.

Hope all is well with all the Senior Friends  and that you all have a pleasant afternoon,

Joy

The last Sunday of April is drawing to a close…..time passes so quickly now. So much I want to do, but so little that I actually do accomplish. And I allow it to be that way.

Gloria, I can associate with the Bert Perks article, and the value of each breath we take. It would be a loving gift if we just slept into our next life, without knowing our last breath was happening.

We had a nice Church service this morning….joyful music. Then I had a huge turkey dinner with good friends, followed, as usual, with a nice restful nap.

Weather has been lovely. A calm 70 degrees, Didn't even need a sweater.

Lloyd, I have done that falling out of bed thing too, and it is not fun. We were both lucky not to have broken anything. My  last fall was sliding out of my wheeled computer chair and flat on my butt. This happened early in April, and I am still needing daily pain pills.

Amy, years ago when we still had our home near the  orchards we  daily walked our dog, but Ed had to go with a walker/rollator as he aged, and one day as we came back and were  close to home, the walker somehow got out of Ed's hands and he ended up on the side of the road. I did like you, down on my hands and knees, but even with my sturdy body to help him, he had no strength to push himself up and still maintain his balance. We had a good neighbor whose living room faced the road we walked, and he saw what was happening, and came running to help. He was young and strong enough to lift Ed and get him balanced to the walker, so we could go on our way home. I think that was the time my son's gave me a cell phone, and I still have one with me at all times.

Where I live now, there is a rule that we must wear a Lifeline at all times…even in the shower, and mine had been put to good use about five or six times now.

Time to have a bite to eat, then off to book and bed. Have a Good Night dear hearts. Love, Hugs and Prayers, June

Good evening.

We enjoyed a delightful day with Dr. Dave and his Family. We have not had a chance to spend time together since we returned from AZ.  It was a beautiful day and we BBQ’d and played in the yard....the kiddos are so much fun to be with.

JOY, I did watch THE BEACH HOUSE last night and enjoyed every minute of it. I unfortunately fall asleep much more often than I would like to admit, but not last night!

I have always been the one on the ground needing help up from Bob, and I dread the day the wheels turn.

Tuesday we are going to fly to California to visit Mark and Megan.  We lucked out and got a very good fare to fly and to rent a car.  We are looking forward to a nice drive up to Paso Robles from Los Angles.  It will be very enjoyable and some beautiful candy for our eyes.

Pleasant dreams to all.

A very early  Good  Monday morning.

Good morning,  Amy, Lloyd and Jane...... the usual early birds.  Jane, hope your trip to your daughters was a good one.  I know you will have a fun time with your family.

I couldn't sleep so got up to check in here and  read my e-mail .   I know I will get a nap in later.

Jenny, I did get to see the whole Hallmark movie..... The Beach House.....  Didn't fall asleep.  It  was really good.  I want to re-read the book again.

Nothing much going on  this early in the morning..... almost 5 a.m. here in the east.   It is still a little chilly  and I did push the thermostat up to take the chill off,.   It is supposed to be a nice week with the temperature  reaching the 80's by mid-week.   MAYBE  our winter is finally over !!!

I  plan on fixing a sausage and egg biscuit sandwich for my breakfast this morning along with some fruit.  Haven't had that for a long time.  Won't start cooking the sausage for a little while yet.  Too early to start making any noise.

I also am going to get my hair fixed later in the morning.  And, that will  probably be the extent of what gets done today.   As June says.... tomorrow is another day.

Have a pleasant day !

Joy

Gosh, I missed my morning tea with you!! We had no internet all day yesterday and I am not a happy camper this morning as some of my mail doesn't open up properly. I will have to deal with this later as I need to take Kyle into the foot clinic.  I will be back later.
Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning every one, rained all day yesterday till about 4:30 pm and the sun popped out just before sunset. More rain today and only 38° now. Sure glad I spent most of Saturday outside. Glad I did not put winter clothes away and take out warm weather clothes.

JOY  according to the weather guessers we will be in the upper 70's later this week. Will have to clear things away in here to get the portable AC in soon.  Ready for heat on today. Getting so we get a few spr ing like temperatures and summer is here. Guess no one complained about noise from the laundry room in the middle of the night here. No apartments near it. In the 4 years I have lived here we had 2 increases in the laundry. Started at $1.25 went to 1.50 and is now 1.75. Like you we have a card for the washers and dryers. They shut the heat off here the first of May.

JUNE  like you I often think of falling asleep and not knowing when I take my last breath.

JENNY  have a safe trip to LA to visit your son and DIL.

AMY  hope you get your email straightened out.

Have a good day everyone.

Our morning has started off in the 40's but we will see the mid-70's this afternoon and a lot of sun.  I have another funeral to attend at 11 am this morning.  It is for the 49 year old daughter of one of my coffee drinking friends.  She has been fighting cancer for several years.  This makes 3 funerals I will have gone to in about three or four weeks.  Jennifer and Elizabeth are planning on coming out this morning.  Elizabeth will help Pat in some reorganization in her sewing room.  I want her to wash the mildew off the columns on the front porch but it is probably not warm enough to do that today so that may not get done until a warmer day.  I also would like for her to go with me to the car wash and then do the cleaning out of the interior.  They have a vacuum there to use.  We don't seem to have any full-service car washes here like we had in Georgia.  That will be enough for today.  I did get to Sunday School and Church yesterday and then had a restful rest of the day.

Gloria, glad you were able to get out and enjoy your nice spring day before the rain returned.  It has been several years since I have dealt with Yahoo and then only to participate in Norm's Bait and Tackle discussion he started there and one or two other discussion groups.  I sure wouldn't like having the heat turned off on the first of May as there can still be some chilly mornings.

Joy, like your area we are to be in the 80's starting tomorrow.  I read one method of getting someone off the floor was a get books and start with one on each side and slowly building up as a person leaned from side to side.  That was a lot of laundry you did.  Laundry equipment in apartment type buildings get a lot of use.  I see you got view the entire movie last night.

June, it sounds like you had an enjoyable Sunday.  That was certainly a nice neighbor you had that came to help Ed get up after falling.  Glad you keep your cell phone with you all the time as well as your emergency alert button.  In this day and age there is little reason not to have access to tools to call for help in an emergency.

Lloyd, it has been a number of years since I watched a Western movie.  Since we now get ME TV I could watch some of the old Western TV series as see they are running them.

Jenny, it sounds like you had a delightful day with Dr. Dave and his Family.  I sure hope you are feeling OK now.  I see you are headed to California this week.  You all sure keep busy with the trips and glad you can do it.

Amy, hope your Internet stays on today and you get your email straightened out.

Good evening, almost 7PM.  I am tired again, yesterday, I had a lot of drop in friends.  The ones who stopped by in the evening even bought their own wine.

To day, I had two doctors appointment, which went well. I also had to go to the lab, to have blood drawn for the foot doctor about the gout.  Later a friend dropped in that just got home from Florida last night,so we had a nice visit.

Gloria, thanks for posting  When the Music stopped. It almost brought tears, as the picture formed in you mind of all those men standing and singing

Jenny hope ypu and your hubby have a wonderful trip. You both derserve it after the last few months you have had.

Good evening.....

We are all packed up and ready to head our very early in the morning.

Thank you, GLORIA.  I will think of you when I see the beautiful sights that I know you would sure like to be viewing with me!

Thank you GLORIA de.  We are looking forward to seeing the kids and to get in a little bit of sight seeing.  I hope your blood work results are all good.

LARRY, we feel very blessed that we have this opportunity to go and see the kids and to have a fun drive at the same time.  We at times feel we would be just fine to just stay at home, but we know it is important to go and do as much as you can while you are still able.  I hope Jennifer and Elizabeth enjoyed the time with you and Pat today and that they were able to help you out.

JOY, happy you also got to see the movie....it was a good one and I! Too, would like to read the book.

I must get moving.....

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny
