and Safe Travels To Texas!

Are you coming to Oklahoma or is Emma going to Texas?

JaneS

Cindy and I are going to Oklahoma.  Emma is still a bit small for travelling.  I think we discussed it and you seemed to think that OKC was pretty far off our trail north, didn't we!  Seems like we should be able to have lunch or something enroute?

Click for Lewisburg,Pennsylvania Forecast

CallieOK

Jane, I suspected Emma was a bit young to be traveling - but parents these days don't always think that way!

The most direct route is up Highway 69/75 and that's about a 3 hour drive east of here - a tad bit far to drive for lunch.   :(    I think you did this once before - and went through my hometown.

JaneS

You're right, CALLIE.  I traveled this route when I went North to Wisconsin to help my close cousin turn 65.  I met my sister and her family there and then had company for the rest of the trip home.

On that trip, I stayed outside of Tulsa the first night out because I didn't leave Dallas until about 1 p.m.  I wish it was a bit closer.  I'm sure my daughter wouldn't mind stopping.  My kids think this group is unreal and they love hearing about them and once or twice, meeting someone from the group.

Supper at THE FENCE was good, the company was special and we all had a good time.  We went back to daughter Cathy's house for ice cream and "birthday brownies".  I'm not much of a cake lover and they know it so they do something different for my birthday.  Cathy always has "birthday cherry pie" for here special day.

I'm really tired and I got most of the packing done today and they picked up the car from the garage on the way to bring me home.  It was "no charge" today but I have to get a new compressor for the A/C.  I remember it was off at the tail end of the season last year and I decided to tough it out and get it fixed this year.  Well, the time has come!!  Now I have to do that!  But, like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow.

Good night my friends.  Sleep peacefully and wake to a happy day tomorrow.

I can't think of a thing to talk about except to wish our favorite girl a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANIE DEAR."

I have spent a whole day doing nothing . One walk, one meal downstairs, one book returned to library, a new one started. That was my day. Have a Blessed night, Hugs, Love and Prayers. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning everyone  50° to start the morning. Yesterday  we had rain again, it started sunny but did not last long. I did get  out before the rain.

AMY  wow you must be strong to get your hubby up from the ground, your back must be strong, too.

JANE  I used to bale cherry pie for my oldest son's birthday, was his favorite back then.

JUNE  I did not do much more than you yesterday.

Have a good day everyone.

Your last breath
Bob Perks

What if this were your last breath? If you knew right now that this breath was your last breath...ever, what would you do?  Would you try to hold onto it longer? Would you breathe it in deeper than ever before expanding your lungs to capacity until you could not take in anymore? Would you breathe slower?

Perhaps you would look around one last time to truly appreciate your life and all that you cherish at that very moment. Or, would you panic and struggle, gasping for more, and miss the last opportunity to enjoy it all? Breathing slowly, deeply, you could begin to count all of your blessings and if done properly, you could take the time to thank God for everything.

Would you, after filling your lungs to capacity and holding the sweet, precious air as long as possible, then consciously decide to exhale as slowly as you could? It is after all your very last breath.

I know I would. I believe you would, too.

Think about it.  One breath of life.  How valuable would it be to you?  What would you give for it at that moment?

Then permit me to point out the obvious. You only have one life. Why do you waste so much of it worrying, crying, whining, and unhappy?

Live your life as you would live your last breath.

Slow down and inhale the precious gift of being alive.

Hold onto every moment and fill your day to capacity until you cannot grasp more of it.

Exhale the noxious fumes of hatred and unforgiving ways of the world.  Let go of the past impurities which hardened your spirit and darkened your days.

Breathe in again the very essence of life as if this was indeed the last breath.

Breathe slowly.  Inhale.

Breathe slowly. Exhale.

Breathe knowing it is the only life you have, the first and last breath you'll take.

Think about it.  One breath of life.  How valuable would it be to you?  What would you give for it at this moment?

One life, one breath.  Now take a deep breath. Hold onto it for as long as you can. Think how incredibly valuable it is.  Be thankful for it.  Exhale slowly and rid yourself of all the negativity.

That's how you should live your life.

It is after all, One life, One breath.

Good morning everyone..

Looks as though we may of had rain over night..and the sky is covered in dark clouds. I had hoped to hang laundry out but will wait and see. Just have to pick up hubby's blister packs in town and that is it.

Good morning Gloria, I have always been this way, think it comes from all the work on the farm. Our temp is 34° F at the moment. I debated on putting a fire on or leaving it off . I did start one but it may not be on the rest of the day.If it does rain then , yes it will stay on.

Jane, sounds like you are having a fun time and it is well deserved too.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I really wanted to go to the car wash today and use their vacuum to clean "winter" out of the car and then wash the outside so it's clean for Bridget but it looks like it's going to rain later.  I might get ready and go early anyway.  There's a lot of crud inside that I'd rather not leave for Bridget.  At least I'll know it's clean to start out with.

Amy, you are a wonder!  That must have been scary trying to get hubby off the ground.  And scary seeing him there!

Now I'm going to get my day started.  I hope you all have a good one!

A good Saturday morning to all you early friends......Jane,  Gloria and Amy !

Amy, I have to agree with Gloria..... that must have been scary trying to help your husband get up.  Can't imagine how you were able to do what you did.  You are really a strong lady.... in more ways than one.   All you can get done in a day  is remarkable.

Jane, glad you had such a nice birthday with your family .   Sure wishing you a wonderful trip.  You said you would have a 2 hour ride..... I am assuming you will be leaving from BWI ???   I will wave as you fly over.

My DIL will pick up my  Walmart grocery order around noon.  I am really running out of a lot of things.  Then, I will have the fun of putting it all away.

Later this afternoon, I  plan on doing some laundry.  I am running out of clothes.  I find if I wait until later in the day,  I have the whole laundry room to myself and I can get it done pretty quick. Most of the ones here usually get theirs done early.   Since I am not a morning person, this works out good for me.

I hope everyone will have a great day.  It is a pretty sunny morning in my little corner of the world.  Still a little chilly, but sunny and no wind.  The weatherman is calling for a little more snow up in the Western mountains.   Winter is still hanging around.

Sunny here this morning, too.  It's nice and lifts the spirits.

Happy Belated Birthday, Jane, and safe travels.  Enjoy your vacation and being with family....especially that new, little baby.

I don't like to go to the home improvement store on a weekend because it is so busy but I really need to get a filter for the refrigerator water/ice dispenser.  It's been acting strangely lately and I'm hoping a clogged filter is the problem.  I would like to have it be a cheap fix rather than calling an appliance repairman, who is definitely NOT cheap!

Make it a good day and a perfect weekend and I'll "talk" to you all later.

Hi Everyone.  The day is bright and sunny and will get into the mid to high 70's this afternoon.  I plan on attending a meeting at 10:30 this morning and then spend the rest of the day at home.  About the only thing we did yesterday was go out to dinner around 6 pm.

The tech worked on my laptop for most of the day and wasn't able to get the problem fixed but he thinks he has identified what the problem. It is going tol require a repair of the Windows 10 software  and possibly a clean install of Windows 10.  His workday was over and he said he would work on it Monday.  However, I know how to do the Windows repair of software or a clean install and will go ahead and do it this weekend. Fortunately I don't have very much on this laptop so will be sure to save any files and make a list of the programs I have running on it.  That will give me a good project for today.  I was able to setup the speed dial on Pat cellphone and am working on getting her address book straightened out.

Mary Ann, the Church Stacey attended in Atlanta for 8 years was old and had no elevator.  There was a handicapped ramp on a side entrance but it wasn't very friendly to wheelchairs.  While she was attending they did do some remodeling inside the Church to make it more friendly for handicapped including a way for wheelchairs to get on the raised platform.  The sidewalks around the Church and to the subway station were in bad shape and she actually had to ride her wheelchair out in the street on part of the two or three block ride.

Gloria, I had just the opposite problem in terms of not being able to sleep after 3:30 this morning as you had Thursday night.  I hope you slept better last night. I doubt that most people ever read the Terms of Service as they are long and complicated.  I have never read anything about Oath.  The big companies just get bigger and bigger. Glad you were able to beat the rain yesterday when you went out.

Jane, I know you have dogs but it appears I had another senior moment as I wrote and changed your dogs into cats.  That sounds like a good arrangement with Bridget and nice that she is in the family.  Glad you don't have to put the dogs in a kennel while you are gone.  Vacationing is a pleasant change but not always restful.  I just hope you have a marvelous time on your vacation.

Amy, nice to see you had a gorgeous day yesterday but see your day today may not be as nice.  We had a big rhubarb patch on the farm as I grew up.  However, I have never cared for rhubarb but those big leaves made great things to play with as a child.  It sounds like the yard work may have been to much for your husband.  I am pretty sure I couldn't get my wife up if she fell and would have to call 911 for help.

Callie, we are about 2 1/2 hours away from where me moved from in the Atlanta area and we have gone halfway and met friends for lunch on several occasions.  This has worked very well and the trip isn't as hard or long as sometimes was trying to get to places in Atlanta that was usually took an hour or more.  The air conditioner on my PT Cruiser isn't cooling and I am hoping it is just needing a touch up of Freon as I spent quite a bit of money last year having repairs done on the AC.  If it is more than the Freon I may just take it out for a short spin early in the mornings before it gets too hot to keep the battery up during the summer and not worry about it as we really don't need the second car anymore.

June, it sounds like you accomplished quite a bit with the walk, eating downstairs and going to your library.

Joy, isn't the online grocery ordering great.  You can do it at leisure and then the other person only needs to stop and have it loaded into the car and not have to walk the aisles for you.

Lloyd, glad you weren't hurt in falling out of bed.  I hope you enjoy your day of sunshine.

Phyllis, aren't those refrigerator filters expensive?  Does your ice dispenser sometime spit out a cube or two after you stop dispensing or not get all the cubes in the ice bins when it completes the freezing cycle?  This is a problem for us.

JaneS

I don't know much about the cost of appliance repair, I'm happy to say.  That's the least of my worries.  That's part of my son's business.  If something isn't working, I just send him a text and he either stops by and fixes it or sends someone.  As for filters, when the light comes on, I tell him I need a filter and when he picks up Kiran the next time he changes it.  I'm lucky in that respect.  Now if I had someone who fixed cars or did landscaping.....

The day has come and gone on us. I did manage to get the laundry on the line too   Met with some friends in town  and she brought  in a bag of fabric scraps she didn't want and one had 12  18 " blocks in it. After we got home I put it together and now have a cancer quilt to send in. Lots of goodies in the bag to share with my daughter in love too.

Lloyd, you are going to have to install a seat belt just so you don't fall out of bed! Glad you went hurt.

Joy, scared the dickens out of me but tried not to let it show. This is not the first time I have had to help him up from a fall so we know what works and what doesn't.

Wood box is filled and another load ready to go in.....time to put my feet up.

good evening everyone.
AMY you may be correct Nancy says I am a accident  Looking for a place to Happen. she also has another saying, if you take a bite of something and it tastes good spit it out it is not healthy for you. but as you know I am on a sea food diet see food and eat it. I like a slice of raisin bread and a gals full of chocolate Milk that is as good as a piece of cake.

Amy, I wish I had thought of that when Cas fell.  I heard a "thud" when I was downstairs on my computer & took the steps 3 at a time, found him in the DARK hall, has black slate floor & he had not turned a light on... he had bumped into the entrance of the living room door facing having walked down the dark hall from the bedrooms.  The house is sort of a "W" shape, even the movers had trouble with all lights on.  Anyway, I couldn't lift him & he insisted waiting a few minutes until he caught his breath, wouldn't let me call our sons or 911.  I had already turned on lights and saw he was bleeding everywhere.... running blood from his head, shoulder, arm, knees & leg. I knew immediately he was probably bleeding as much internally so really alarmed but like you, tried not to let him know.  He knew at that point his time was limited for being at home.  We were both in a state of shock.  Doesn't sound like your husband is quite as frail and I sincerely think you are 10x stronger than I am.  Glad all is good today.  We do know what "it is like" with these trials, so nice to know we aren't alone in this aging, but I wish I had thought of kneeling down to let him support himself like you did.

Larry, I sent my 12" laptop with my daughter & husband for their son to add memory (or whatever) so I can still use my old version of Paint Shop Pro.  I bought 2 newer versions to go with Vista & then Windows 10, but do know know how to set it up, got it installed but can't find all the tools like with the old version.  Anyway, that gr-son just got a big bump in salary, what he does for a living... & must be good at it because he is getting all the perks with the extra salary.  I decided instead of buying one of the new "tablets" this little Toshiba 12" laptop has a CD/DVD read & write drive as well as everything it takes to play with photos and I don't get that with any of the tablets as far as I know.  Don't need a built in camera because I have plenty of those & know how to operate them (on auto).

My son was going to add the memory but he's been babysitting his grandkids, he is the one everyone calls no matter what goes wrong, and only if he could be cloned could he do it all.  He never loses patience or says no to me or anyone, but since he is teaching a couple college classes (with over 200 students) & has all those papers to grade, he is working day & night to keep up.  I don't want to push him into a heart attack or stroke, he is 58 & that is the age his father had to have his first 3 bypasses.

I'm trying to get estimates to have the pool re-plastered & painted... no actual price yet but guesses are scaring me.  If I could get a warranty that it wouldn't need fixing again even for 5 years I'd "just do it".... don't think they will because with freezing during the winter, just no way to guarantee they can make it through a winter without work.  I just don't want to move yet.... absolutely no other house I would want to live in and would have to have cats put to sleep if I move.... Scarlett doesn't want to think about it~~~ It would cost more to have it filled in than repaired & lose value for sure, so got to get my head on straight & "buck up".

Jane, I heard a neighbor take off this morning with a screech like you mentioned.... fan belt slipping & know it can be given a shot of spray something to hold off replacing for a while, was hoping that's what your mechanic would do.  Have a great trip & don't worry about the car or pups.... sounds like they are all in good hands.

Gloria, I'm still using Yahoo but most of my friends & family have gone to G-mail.... I have a G-mail account but Yahoo came first & is the easiest for me so I'm just hanging on.

Joy, now that you mention it, I think my refrigerator has a filter but I've never changed it.  EEK!  Had my son help pull it out a couple weeks ago so I could take out all the shelves & bins to wash... and sucked & blew all the dust out of the motor stuff ... it was packed full of cat hair, etc.  I forgot to have him empty the ice bin... ice in the door.... It gets yucky after a while, I use a lot of ice year around, but the thingy that pushes the cubes out & crushes the ice doesn't clean out the corners <grin>. One more "to-do".   ::)

Better check on cats, Saturday bath night & need to trim a little hair off the back of my neck. Doesn't matter how many other days during the week I shower, I want to be my cleanest when I go to church, hang over from childhood.   ;)

Sweet dreams and God Bless.... from Hal & me~  Shirley

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and the doggies have been out and fed and I've had my coffee.  Gonna go get a shower and get ready for church and if there's any time left, I'll strip the bed and put on clean sheets for Bridget.  And that's my morning plan so far.

I think we're leaving for my daughter's house in Maryland sometime after lunch.  We'll see how the day develops.  I hope everyone has a good day today.  Don't know if I'll be back but we'll see about that, too.

I got to the home improvement store yesterday to get the fridge filter and I think every one in the town was there!  Parking lot was packed but luckily found a parking space not too far from the door.  Larry, I was a little bit shocked that the price of the filter was 53.00 plus a few cents.  And it didn't fix the problem with the ice maker so I'll have to call a repairman, I guess.  Or......buy ice cube trays and make ice the old fashioned way.  That wouldn't be so bad.  With the dish washer not working right now, too, I'm finding that it isn't such a big deal to wash the dishes by hand and, honestly, the silverware looks shinier than it does when they are washed in the dishwasher.

And, yes, I was having that problem with too much water spitting into the ice maker but now it doesn't put water into it at all!  So, no water....no ice.  It seems to me that most of these "conveniences" are not at all convenient!   ::)

Jane, do you suppose you could get your son to come down to North Carolina and fix all my problems?  I would bake a cake for him, or make a really good beef stew, ....or something.....please!?  Well, I suppose he is pretty busy and doesn't really have time to take on more problems so if I get irritated enough with broken appliances I'll have to find someone here to fix them. <sigh>

Amy, you are so clever to make like a chair so your husband could get himself up off the ground.  I got down on the ground in the yard one time and just couldn't get up and David couldn't get me up either so he got a lawn chair and held it steady while I managed to get on my knees and pull myself up with that support.  I must have looked like a beached whale...... :2funny:

Take care, All,......it is a jungle out there.   :o

Hi Everyone.  Once again we have a beautiful day on tap with lots of sun and it will get into the low 70's this afternoon.  My main activity today will be to attend Sunday School and Church and then pick up something for our main meal today.  Pat had to get up early as her back was hurting.  She will not attend Church today with me.

I had a very productive day yesterday as had a second day of feeling like doing something.  I did reset my Windows 10 on the laptop and got it restored.  I have decided to use Firefox as my default browser on my laptop and desk computers and just set it up on my desktop this morning.

Jane, you are fortunate to have a son who does your appliance repair and, if I recall, is going to care for your yard.  My son is changing our furnace filters since putting my arms over my head makes me dizzy plus have to stand on a step stool, which I don't think is wise anymore. Hope you have a great trip.

Amy, I keep wondering when Pat will stop working with the scraps and start using some of the nice fabric she has stored in boxes in her sewing room and the new squares of fabric she seems to be getting about every month.  You might get some good ideas on how to get your hubby up when he falls by doing an internet search.  I did a quick search and see there are a number of sites with information relating to seniors and falling.

Lloyd, I love raisin bread and haven't had any for a long time.  However, you can have my chocolate milk. Hope you had no ache and pains from your falling out of bed.

Shirley, falls happen so suddenly and expectantly.  I sincerely doubt I could get Pat up as have to give her a hand sometimes to get up from restaurant tables or booths and she has to lift each of her legs to get them in the car.  Your grandson must be a very accomplished person to get a big bump in salary and perks.  I have never wanted a swimming pool and they sound like a money pit with all the maintenance required.  I emptied our ice bin a few days ago and was surprised how little frost and chipped ice was in the bottom of it because had been quite awhile since I had done that.  We use a lot of ice so it doesn't have time to get stale.

Phyllis,  I knew those fridge filters were expensive.  We haven't used the filter for a number of years as it isn't required for the ice maker to work.  I often hand wash some of the bigger items like pans or bowls or skillets as they take up so much room in the dishwasher.  I have to check under the door for the ice dispenser as often one of more clubs may get caught and that stops the dispensing process.

Gloria

Good morning everyone. 51°. Woke late and to the sound of rain again. Yesterday was a perfect spring day, went into the low 70's and felt great  to have a light jacket on in the morning when I went out.  Spent most of the day out but my back started acting up late afternoon. Did not hear the weather but now I know why it started hurting--rain was on the way.

AMY  I was always active but not the heavy farm work you did. Gets me angry with myself that I can no longer do much of any thing.

JANE  if I do not get to see you lat er I wish you a safe trip and give Emma a little squeeze for me. Nothing like holding a baby.

JOY  Amy, Jane and Shirley both amaze me with all they do.  Makes me disgusted with me doing nothing these days. There are some in this building that go down to the laundry room in the middle of the hight.

LLOYD  gosh are you going to have rails on the sides of your bed so you do not fall out again. Glad you did not get hurt.

PHYLLIS  Mother Nature was very good to us  yesterday but she sent rain again today. She has not been nice to us this year.

LARRY  if I have to reinstall everything on this PC I think I would quit. All I know about Yahoo is it kept getting harder to sign in. The PSP groups are in Yahoo and need a Yahoo account to join them.

SHIRLEY  I only got Yahoo when I got into PSP groups for lessons and tutorials. Was easy then but with the sell outs and buy outs ot merging or whatever it just keeps getting harder to sign in.

Have a good day.

Watching over me
Joseph J. Mazzella

When I was a little boy growing up in my Grandma’s old house I would play outside for hours on the sunny, Summer days and then curl up in my bed at night for a deep, peaceful sleep. Occasionally, however, there would be some particularly vivid dream that would jar me awake for a moment. I would stare out into the darkness to see if anything was there and then roll over and go back to sleep. I can remember a few times too when I woke up, looked out into the darkness, and actually saw someone there. It was my Mom watching over me as I slept. Each time she gently told me to go back to sleep and I closed my eyes again feeling safe and loved.

I never asked Mom why she watched me sleep from time to time, but after seeing my own children grow up so fast I think I know why. She wanted to capture a moment in time and hold it in her soul forever. I just hope that she carried a lot of those moments with her into Heaven when she passed away at only 55 years old.

Last night I was sleeping lightly when I suddenly felt someone near me. I opened my eyes and for the briefest of moments saw Mom’s figure standing in the room, smiling at me. And then she was gone. Now some may say that this was just a dream, a wish, or a fragment of an old memory. To me, though, it was proof that my Mom’s loving spirit was still watching over me. To me it was evidence enough to know that one day I will be reunited with her and everyone I have ever loved.

Whether we see them or not we are all being watched over by those above. Whether we believe it or not we are all being loved and helped by those above. Trust in their love then. Trust in the love of our Heavenly Father. Know that your own life can be full of love too. Then joyfully go out and live it with a brave heart, a helping hand, and a smiling soul.

A late Good Morning !

It was real pretty and sunny when I first got up, but now looks a little hazy.  Supposed to be a partly cloudy day, and still chilly. By Wednesday, it is supposed to be in the 80's for a few days.   Nothing like going from winter to summer all at once.  But, I will take all those 80º days that come along. I, for one, like the summer and don't really mind the heat at all.   Especially, after the cold winter we just had.

Jane, do hope you will have a wonderful vacation.  I know you are really looking forward to being with your family.

Amy, one of my  DIL's is a Physical Therapist and I remember one time, my husband fell, and I called her.  When she came,  she looked around and found a couple stools/chairs, that were in graduated sizes.  She just got him on the lowest seat, and gradually worked him up to where he could sit in a regular chair. She did this to show me how I could do it if I didn't have anybody to help out. She said she had done that before using different sizes of suit-cases. Fortunately, I never had to do that.  Probably wouldn't work if the person was to weak to pull themselves up to the next level, tho.  I think what you did was very clever, but you could have really hurt yourself.

Gloria, out laundry room hours are 9 a.m. to  9 p.m.  For a while, there was one lady who was doing her laundry in the middle of the night.  That got stopped real quick.  One of the male residents made it his job to go around and lock all the laundry room doors at 9 p.m.   Most residents usually do theirs in the morning, so that is why I wait until late afternoon.  I was able to get all my laundry done yesterday.  Didn't even see anybody the whole time.  I usually come back to my apartment, as the laundry room is right across the hall from me, but yesterday, I just stayed there and read some new magazines that I hadn't seen.   I wound up doing 5 loads, so that chore is done for a while now.  We are supposed to be getting all new machines, and I guess the price will go up when that happens.  When I first moved here, 10 years ago, there was a notice that the cost of doing laundry was going up, but so far, after all the time,  the cost has remained the same.  $1.25 each load,  for both washer and dryer.  The dryers run for 60 min.  so I can usually get 2 washer loads done in that time period. I set my timer for 30 min. and dry the lighter things first.  It works out good.  We have a card to insert into a slot and we can add more minutes if needed.

I see that the sun is starting to make another appearance,  so, hopefully it will warm up a little bit.  I had to push my thermostat up this morning, again, to take the chill off.  Can hardly believe that at the end of April, still having to have the furnace on.

Larry,  glad that you were feeling a lot more energetic yesterday.  Sorry Pat is not up to going to church this morning.  I slept in a little bit later this morning.  I finally just finished my breakfast,  so,  won't have to have much lunch a little later.  Nothing special going on for me today.

Last night, I wanted to watch the Hallmark movie,  The Beach House, but wound up falling asleep about half-way through it.  I was so disappointed as I had read the book and it really is a good story.  Takes place in the Charleston/Hilton Head area of S.C.  A nice story and relates to the sea turtles and their interesting way of hatching their eggs.  It is very important to protect these nesting areas.   I have a friend who lives in Hilton Head, and last year, she adopted one of the nests, but missed when the eggs hatched, as it happened in the middle of the night.   I did check this morning, and I see that it is on again at 5 p.m. Eastern time,  today. I should be able to stay awake to be able to watch it.  It is on the Hallmark Channel, if anyone is interested.

Hope all is well with all the Senior Friends  and that you all have a pleasant afternoon,

Joy

The last Sunday of April is drawing to a close…..time passes so quickly now. So much I want to do, but so little that I actually do accomplish. And I allow it to be that way.

Gloria, I can associate with the Bert Perks article, and the value of each breath we take. It would be a loving gift if we just slept into our next life, without knowing our last breath was happening.

We had a nice Church service this morning….joyful music. Then I had a huge turkey dinner with good friends, followed, as usual, with a nice restful nap.

Weather has been lovely. A calm 70 degrees, Didn't even need a sweater.

Lloyd, I have done that falling out of bed thing too, and it is not fun. We were both lucky not to have broken anything. My  last fall was sliding out of my wheeled computer chair and flat on my butt. This happened early in April, and I am still needing daily pain pills.

Amy, years ago when we still had our home near the  orchards we  daily walked our dog, but Ed had to go with a walker/rollator as he aged, and one day as we came back and were  close to home, the walker somehow got out of Ed's hands and he ended up on the side of the road. I did like you, down on my hands and knees, but even with my sturdy body to help him, he had no strength to push himself up and still maintain his balance. We had a good neighbor whose living room faced the road we walked, and he saw what was happening, and came running to help. He was young and strong enough to lift Ed and get him balanced to the walker, so we could go on our way home. I think that was the time my son's gave me a cell phone, and I still have one with me at all times.

Where I live now, there is a rule that we must wear a Lifeline at all times…even in the shower, and mine had been put to good use about five or six times now.

Time to have a bite to eat, then off to book and bed. Have a Good Night dear hearts. Love, Hugs and Prayers, June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good evening.

We enjoyed a delightful day with Dr. Dave and his Family. We have not had a chance to spend time together since we returned from AZ.  It was a beautiful day and we BBQ’d and played in the yard....the kiddos are so much fun to be with.

JOY, I did watch THE BEACH HOUSE last night and enjoyed every minute of it. I unfortunately fall asleep much more often than I would like to admit, but not last night!

I have always been the one on the ground needing help up from Bob, and I dread the day the wheels turn.

Tuesday we are going to fly to California to visit Mark and Megan.  We lucked out and got a very good fare to fly and to rent a car.  We are looking forward to a nice drive up to Paso Robles from Los Angles.  It will be very enjoyable and some beautiful candy for our eyes.

Pleasant dreams to all.

A very early  Good  Monday morning.

Good morning,  Amy, Lloyd and Jane...... the usual early birds.  Jane, hope your trip to your daughters was a good one.  I know you will have a fun time with your family.

I couldn't sleep so got up to check in here and  read my e-mail .   I know I will get a nap in later.

Jenny, I did get to see the whole Hallmark movie..... The Beach House.....  Didn't fall asleep.  It  was really good.  I want to re-read the book again.

Nothing much going on  this early in the morning..... almost 5 a.m. here in the east.   It is still a little chilly  and I did push the thermostat up to take the chill off,.   It is supposed to be a nice week with the temperature  reaching the 80's by mid-week.   MAYBE  our winter is finally over !!!

I  plan on fixing a sausage and egg biscuit sandwich for my breakfast this morning along with some fruit.  Haven't had that for a long time.  Won't start cooking the sausage for a little while yet.  Too early to start making any noise.

I also am going to get my hair fixed later in the morning.  And, that will  probably be the extent of what gets done today.   As June says.... tomorrow is another day.

Have a pleasant day !

Good morning everyone...
Gosh, I missed my morning tea with you!! We had no internet all day yesterday and I am not a happy camper this morning as some of my mail doesn't open up properly. I will have to deal with this later as I need to take Kyle into the foot clinic.  I will be back later.
Enjoy your day everyone..

Gloria

Good morning every one, rained all day yesterday till about 4:30 pm and the sun popped out just before sunset. More rain today and only 38° now. Sure glad I spent most of Saturday outside. Glad I did not put winter clothes away and take out warm weather clothes.

JOY  according to the weather guessers we will be in the upper 70's later this week. Will have to clear things away in here to get the portable AC in soon.  Ready for heat on today. Getting so we get a few spr ing like temperatures and summer is here. Guess no one complained about noise from the laundry room in the middle of the night here. No apartments near it. In the 4 years I have lived here we had 2 increases in the laundry. Started at $1.25 went to 1.50 and is now 1.75. Like you we have a card for the washers and dryers. They shut the heat off here the first of May.

JUNE  like you I often think of falling asleep and not knowing when I take my last breath.

JENNY  have a safe trip to LA to visit your son and DIL.

AMY  hope you get your email straightened out.

Have a good day everyone.

When the Music Stopped...

When the Music Stopped... (For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters, the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.)

This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq :

I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium we use for movies, as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature. All was
going well until three-quarters of the way through The National Anthem, the music stopped.

Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22 year-olds back in the States? I imagine there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone would sit down and yell for the movie to begin. Of course, that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the first
place.

Here in Iraq, 1,000 Soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed forward. The music started again and the Soldiers continued to quietly stand at attention. But again, at the same point, the music stopped. What would you expect 1000 Soldiers standing at attention to do?? Frankly, I expected some laughter, and everyone would eventually sit down and wait for the movie
to start.

But No!!... You could have heard a pin drop, while every Soldier
continued to stand at attention.

Suddenly, there was a lone voice from the front of the auditorium, then a dozen voices, and soon the room was filled with the voices of a thousand soldiers, finishing where the recording left off:  "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag
was still there. Oh, say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave."

It was the most inspiring moment I have had in Iraq and I wanted you to know what kind of Soldiers are serving you. Remember them as they fight for us!

Pass this along as a reminder to others to be ever in prayer for all our soldiers serving us here at home and abroad. Many have already paid the ultimate price.

Written by Chaplain Jim Higgins LSA Anaconda is at the Ballad Airport In Iraq, north of Baghdad.

God Bless America and all of our troops serving throughout the world.
