Patricia, I was  just told that 35 guests at a funeral here in town came down with covid! As much as I dislike having my energy zap from the needle it is still better than dealing with covid.

That was not nice of them to give you a heads up on the shutting off of the water!.

We are watching radar on TV... having those spring tornadoes popping up with thunder now as the cold front just came through. Was summer hot today (pushing 90) & much cooler in the last few minutes. I have the sliding door right next to me open & think I hear the pinging of hail now. The worst of the damage is east of where I live, the TV weather crews are having a field day with so much going on all directions. Tiger is sitting on my computer chair & not sharing very nicely, I'm on the edge.

Lloyd happy to see you report in, you did say you were not up to par last you posted. I will tell you that after having a 4-5 day bought of something I was kind of glad to hear my neighbors & everyone they knew had a "bug" that sounded much like you had. I didn't go to the doctor because I knew it would be hospital & that same test you had and I am chicken when it comes to any "invasive" tests! Glad you checked out okay, take care!

It is pouring rain (we need it) & TVs are still showing nothing but radar. Showing damage to the YMCA in little town that joins Wichita on SE & the storms still brewing. Still a band of red heading to Wichita so not out of the woods yet. Showing lots of photos of the tornadoes that people sent in to the TV stations. I had my camera out, the clouds were absolutely gorgeous... but I was too lazy to go on out. We are getting the brunt of the rain right now but clearing just to the west, so may be all over for us soon. The Y at the little town south east of Wichita took a direct hit, not hearing any injuries so not as bad as it could have been. Some TV stations not coming in so power out "hear & there", a lot of lightning.

Ending this weather report with "Sweet dreams & God Bless".  Love y'all.  Shirley

Amy

Good morning.

Still a tad chilly temp is 28° but going to be a sunny day until the afternoon.

Need to tackle a few chores here after meeting friends in town to exchange goodies.

Jane, hope today is a better day for you.

Shirley, no thank you to the tornados..

Lloyd, good to be back home and in your own bed.....now take it easy today.

Gloria, all my shots have given me the same reaction. This one not as strong as I could function some. Just wish the @$%^%^#$!@# would go away!!

Better get on with my day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning  everyone. Once again I am awake too early and have the heat turned on again. On Monday I wonder if she will have maintenance man turn the heat off even if the  temperature was in the 30's again. She has a big heater in her office behind her desk and in front of the window. We are allowed to put the AC's in when she tells us we can. Her AC is installed under the window in her office with a cover over it in the winter but she can turn it on when she gets warm in her office.

AMY  I sure would not want to be in with a group of people these days. I had called my DIL to ask her when she had time if she can cut my hair. Then called again and told her about the covid here and said is she wants to come she will have to wear her mask again. I told Bill when he called yesterday that he will need his mask this morning when he gets here.

PATRICIA  at least they let us know when thing will be done here like checking fire alarms. They put up a big easel in the lobby one sees coming into the building. Since I seldom got outside these days I don't see that easel. They also put it up when they  expect snow so tenants can move their cars to get ready for the plow. First row has to be moved first so the plow can clean in case of the ambulance and fire truck are  called.

LLOYD  glad you are home again and feeling better again.

SHIRLEY  sure glad I live in this part of the country, we have freezing cols and blizzards and hurricanes but seldom a tornado. What we get we can prepare for.

JANE  have a good day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was so tired last night that I decided to go to bed and didn't notice the time until I was crawling in.  It was only 9:30 but I went right to sleep and slept like a log!

It's only 37º here right now but sunshiny and heading for a high of 67!  I can handle that!

LLOYD, you need to take care of YOU!  That was quite a scare you had!

I have no specific plans for today but Cooper is here and we've already had one nice walk!  He's such good company and fills the gap of my own missing doggies!  I think Frankie is going to spend the night tonight so I'll have to think about something to serve for supper.

I have a "ton" of birds making use of my feeder and they are eating me out of house and home!  I looked out once yesterday and there were 4 on the feeder itself, 2 waiting on the bar that holds the feeder and another 3 sitting on the porch railing.  I thought that was all of them until one more walked across the porch.  I love watching them.  And we have a couple of squirrels coming into the yard but Cooper manages to chase them out!

Yesterday, I did a little cooking to go with the leftovers from the day before.  I made up a head of fried cabbage and bacon and I could eat that for a meal by itself!

I think I'll go get out the sweeper.  I've noticed a lot of bird seed inside the house...I suppose spilled when I bring in the feeder to refill.

Is OK up for those nasty storms in June and July?  That's the only thing that worries me about my upcoming trip.  In fact, it's the big worry I have about that part of my family living in OK.

I guess I better get this day on the move!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

CallieOK

Good Morning,

JaneS,  you didn't address your OK weather question to me but, IMO, April and May are the most likely months for OK to have damaging tornadoes.  June and July are normally sunny and hot; however, with the year we're having - who knows???

#2 son/dil were coming for dinner last evening but we postponed it because of the weather forecast ("If storms develop - they will be severe").  Weather gurus were all poised with spotters out "in the field" but the towering clouds that did develop "dissolved" and we had nothing.
So all they had to talk about was the big tornado near Wichita that Shirley mentioned. That was a bad one!!!

Nothing going on in my little part of the world.  I'm enjoying several web cams of bird nests/feeders.  Have watched Canada Goose goslings go from being hatched to literally jumping out of the nest 70 feet in the air and swimming off with Mom and Dad in a nearby lake.  (Doesn't take much to entertain me!  ;D )

Need to tend to Domestic Duties and Desk Work today.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Satisfactory Saturday.  :)

Good morning; 35 locally and expected to reach yesterday's high of 55 or more. We've been in a holding pattern the last bit of April and expect more heat and higher temperatures starting Monday.

There is nothing new to speak of other than the weather, no new cases, the threat level remains low, but masks are required on transportation, not in stores where it's optional. The building is still locked down and has been since March 2020.

Lloyd, it's nice to see you back; you were missed.

Jane, All of the dogs here are like Cooper. There's a twenty-pound weight limit, except for big Ed, a dog bred to detect seizures and be a PTSD companion to little Ed. Little Ed is a Vietnam vet, and big Ed is a bruiser, looking at least two of little Ed. He's a bully mix and the sweetest, goofiest dog you're ever met when he's not working. If he's pulling Little Ed's wheelchair or sitting alert by Little Ed's side, he's working and not available for attention.

Gloria, besides the monthly newsletter, we will have notices clipped to the wall by our doors. Each apartment has a large blue clip mounted to the wall on the left side, visible by the peephole. However, it hasn't been used that much these past twenty-five months of lockdown. They were used to ask everyone to move their cars out of the two parking lots yesterday. They used the Elders' parking lot next door with permission while management cleaned out the remaining snow slag and brought in sweeper machines to clean the various grit, pebbles, and whatnot.

May will have the annual check of all the fire, exhaust alarms, and fire extinguisher checks and replacements.  Since lockdown, they have not had any of the regular twice-yearly apartment inspections, and they haven't reopened the five recreational rooms since 2020 nor increased staffing back to pre-pandemic levels. If you did have emergency maintenance, the guy responding was wrapped in so many layers of plastic, including shoe covers, that you wondered how he could function.

Last year, they cooked the holiday meals elsewhere and brought food to the apartment door by carts. If you requested a meal, it was left in a bag attached to your door. There were days when the automatic hall lights stayed off, and no hallway traffic was heard. Often if you say anything about the loss of the previous service, you are reminded that this is "independent living and not a care home." The sense of community has splintered.

Amy, other than the daily texts and calls, I'd never know I had friends offline. The majority live in higher elevations, ridges, domes, and foothills, and weather and lockdowns have kept them away. The one pig roast we managed last year was the only large get-together, and we're hoping to change that this summer. We are planning a shopping trip this next week if all goes well and it will be noisy as five of us have made attending plans of course that could and will probably change in the meantime. I can understand why solitary confinement is used in penal institutions.

My main gripe is that while we're told that the heat can be self-regulated, I've had mine turned off most of April, and the ducts are warm, and the temperature remains about 82. I tend to spend most days with the screen door open a little.

Amy

Patricia, we didn't meet up today ,will make it tomorrow. They are looking after another dog, their sons and keeps them rather busy.

Laundry blew out so quick on the line today. Noticed wild leeks that I had planted last year have come up!! Wild leeks are delicious, 100 times the flavour of the tame ones.
Winding down, day went ok....would have liked more get up and go but tis ok.

Shirley

I've never had leeks, Amy, but my husband's mother talked about them. How do you fix? I love most lettuce greens, not cooked like my mother used to eat.

Patricia, sounds like you've found a great place to live, nothing is perfect so we get to gripe when we need to. I had my comeupence this morning when power was out for an hour & finally came back on. I asked "Google to turn off the pool lights" & Google had the nerve to say, "Wait a minute, I'm trying to reconnect to wi-fi"..... it was the "wait a minute" attitude that got me.  :-\  :tickedoff:

Been checking out where to buy "out of state" fishing license in MO, in case my youngest son wants to go same time I do. One campground is Corp of Engineer & other is gorgeous city park with big fishing lake. Same license good for both, it seems. Down to one cat so will be a little easier traveling (maybe). We would take 2 vehicles & he would sleep in a tent, being allergic to cats. Doesn't bother him to eat in my motorhome, tho  ;) .  I hope to get one trip in before selling the 4 Winds. :'(

phyllis

Sorry I haven't posted for several days.  I have been busy with some much needed house cleaning.  Also, I bought a new phone and am trying to get set up.

SHIRLEY, I make a really good LEEK AND Potato soup.  And it is easy to make.

I'M MAKING THIS SHORT...I hate texting.  :tickedoff:

Take care, All.

Phyll, are leeks kinda like chives? I love potato & celery soup, lots of butter & sometimes even add cheese.  Guess I can Google.  :-[     I'm still trying to learn how to operate my new phone, went android because the iPhone kept joining the iPad & the kids/grands texting in groups. By golly the Samsung whatever does it's own thing & I still don't know how to do much but answer. I use the iPadPro for texting & it does have a keyboard & is "cellular" but I don't know how to use it like a computer. I stay sane just not mingling all these things. Good to see you.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. I need to take my shower & pick out clothes to wear to church but haven't checked forecast. I leave the house by 7:00am & get home about 9:30 after breakfast with the family so need a jacket at least to start out. The wind is fairly still right now so should turn sprinklers on. We didn't get but a scant 1/2" of rain last night & everything SO dry. Trees are getting leaves but such puny ones. So far it looks like the wisteria in the tree down by the river didn't make it, I'm shocked!  I may take a saw down & cut some of the twisted branches, will think of some use for them. The oldest parts are as big around as my arms & wind around each other. Shut up, Shirley~~

JaneS

Time to bid you all good night!  It's been a busy, work day today!  I did a lot of cleaning and I'm not finished yet!

CALLIE, when I asked my question about the weather in OK, I didn't think I had to address anyone since you are the only one who posts from there and I was pretty sure you'd answer.  Thanks, that makes me feel better about my visit but I still have to worry about them when I'm not there.  I remember being in Texas when they were announcing the possible arrival of a tornado.  Cindy didn't have a basement so she used a large closet under the stairs for protection.  She was gathering us all in there and I stood at the door waiting my turn and it was just long enough for my claustrophobia to set in.  I could not step into that closet with all the people and dogs and then close the door.  So I closed that door and went across the hall to the bathroom all by myself.

And now, I'm heading for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he watch over the Ukrainains!
