Good Morning!  Nice new start for a new day!  I like everything but I think my favorite is the latin phrases!

I've been up since 2:30 following a sick doggie around the house and cleaning up after her.  I don't know what brought it on but she's hit the floor of every room in the house except the storage room and some of them she did twice.  I've gone through almost a whole roll of paper towels and half a spray bottle of Vinegar cleaner.  At least she only got one rug one time.  But I didn't get much sleep at all.

Now for the new day.  She seems to be better and is (I think) asking to go out.  We'll see what that brings.  And I wonder what to do about breakfast?  I guess we'll play that by ear too.

I hope you all had a better night than I did and that your day is perfect!

Good morning everyone, this will be short . Eyes are giving me  trouble and cannot wait for my eye appointment in November. Called that doctor's office yesterday to see if I could get in  before that but no luck.

JENNY  so glad for the latest news about Michele.

SHIRLEY  my insurance pays for the CNA with help from the state. I think doctors have something to do with requesting them, too. I really never gave it much thought. I just know that the insurance looked into it.

BUBBLE  THANKS FOR THE NEW MIDMONTH PAGE. Darn I keep hitting the cap lock and too lazy to type again.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Here we are half way through August. Fall signs are about, geese in training flights, leaves are starting to get that tinge on them and dogs losing their hair like crazy!

Managed to get 24 jars of mainly bread and butter pickle with a few jars of dill pickles done and put away.  Today is laundry and not sure what else I will get into..maybe make bread too.

Bubble ,thank you for the new start page.....love the photo of the appy's!

Jane, hope tummies are settled now..and you can grab some zzz today.

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Marilyne and Beverly,

I tend not to talk about all my health problems, as there are so many that are a lot worse off than I am.

I am truly blessed as I feel well and only have a few minor side effects with the medicines that I take.  I have wonderful doctors.  I get good care and I am able to do what daily chores I have to do.  I just keep putting one foot in front of the other.  LOL

Hope everyone will have a good day.

And,  Bubble, thank you for the new page this morning.  The Latin comments are good.

Good Morning,

Can't believe August is half done.  Work on the photo album is going slowly but semi-steadily.  Part of the issue are Domestic Duties that keep cropping up and part of it is that my hands aren't as agile as they used to be with small tasks (Imagine that  :D ).

Hope Everyfriend finds something to enjoy about today.

Morning again.  Mickie's tummy seemed to settle down by 8 this morning and I took a look at the paper, had a snack and a cup of coffee and decided it might be a good time to close my eyes.  After having had about 3 hours of sleep earlier, I added another 3 and a half hours and so did the dogs.  We are all feeling better and Mickie actually ate a doggie treat and it seems to be staying down.  I think we'll add something else slowly and see if that stays down too.

I didn't make it to the Farmers Market this morning but there's another one tomorrow and we'll see how the rest of today and tonight go.  I think Frankie is spending the night her but she's been known to changer her mind about that.  If she does, going to the produce market won't be a problem tomorrow.  If she doesn't it will be another 'play it by ear" day!

I wish you all a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it!

Sandy, I still think Fe looks exactly how I picture you at that age. Just darling.

Jane, my Tom has had a few days of not eating normal and Tiger a few days before. I thought probably since they are shedding & cleaning themselves so much (their hairbrush tells the tale) was the problem.

BUT my gr-daughter that tested positive for the virus had to take her dog to the vet & was a "highly contageous respiratory virus"..(did NOT run the covid-19 test on dog)... both are okay & gr-daughter back to work after 2 weeks of seclusion.I've been suggesting all my family take care about wiping their feet off when coming in the house. That brings up what the pups may catch on their feet when out walking. Glad she is better today.

I look at Tom and want to cry because I can't take him to the vet. I promised myself that I would not put these ferals in that position of taking them to a strange place & being so terrified of a vet getting near them. I called & begged the vet I took LaurenKat to, to see if I could bring the 3 in for shots in the RV & have one of the crew come into the RV to do it, but they refused. I figured cats would at least be in a familiar place & if in the cage (to open the door), easy for them to give the shots. So we do what we can.

Amy, I've never been around any Appy but think most of the ones I've seen in KS & MO were Thoroughbred or Quarter horse body shapes. Where I grew up the Tennesssee Walker was the "in" horse. I didn't own a horse but had the chance to ride quite a bit. My mother used to laugh that I'd want to bring one inside in bad weather... and probably right. Thanks for the heads up notice, I had not seen that (site down).

Bubble, great text & beautiful graphics, thank you.

I have done nothing but eat & sleep (and feed cats) today, am ready to head back for another nap but near time to feed cats again & walk down to the river.  I've been using the bottle of baby oil that I mashed up some out of date B-1 vitamins last year... working pretty good when I remember to lather it on. I put a few tablets in a ziploc snack bag & mash them fine as I could (with a hammer on the kitchen cabinet...) and even though they don't disolve completely, guess enough odor stays with the oil to keep the bugs away.

Another week end, mid 90s so far but very humid. Bring on winter, please!

I'm going to bed.  It's been a strange day trying to make sure Mickie is OK, giving her small amounts of food to eat and short jaunts outside and seeing that Cooper (my great-granddog) got what he needed, and falling asleep almost every time I sat down.  Now I'm going to try for a whole night.  I think I must have been something Mickie picked up outside and ate because she seems like her old self tonight.  Cooper and Frankie went home for the night but I think he'll be back in the morning.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

GURRRR....one slick little move and poof, my post is gone!

Now, can I even remember what I wrote?  Sure hope so!

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our nice clean SS.  I loved your Latin phrases.

First off, LLOYD, I am very sad that you evidently did not see my thank you, the VERY day your nice poem arrived, AND I sent you a email as well.  I told you that I was going to buy a frame for it, and I did.  I would have sent you a snail mail to you but the address on the envelope is the one from the place you mailed it, not your home address.  I did appreciate you sending it very much and I certainly hope you see this to know that I did get this AND that I did thank you.
[-color=purple] AMY, that is a LOT of pickles that you canned yesterday😘  Your trug maker is going to be very happy!

JANE, I am happy to read Mickie is feeling better.  I hope you both have a good night of rest.

JOY, I am sorry to read of your cancer and on going issues.  I appreciate you sharing your on going chemo pills to keep you in remission.  I hope and pray that you continue doing well.  Michele did 8 Chemo pills a day for several months before a a tumor the size of a golf ball appeared on her brain. We were so thankful it presented on a morning when her daughter was home and could call for help as she had very little warning that anything was going on.  When she got to the hospital they discovered the tumor and many other spots in her body....the darn cancer had returned with vengeance.
We hope and pray this maintenance chemo will be the magic one for her🙏🙏

We continue to have hot dry days and the 4 forest fires in the state are going wild.   PHYLLIS, we could sure use some of the rain you are having.

GLORIA, I do hope the eye doctors office put your name on a cancellation list.  November is a long time to wait.  Getting doctor appointments now after the mess with Covid is hard to do, as everyone is trying to get in now.

Thank you AMY for the heads up regarding this site being down.....I hope it will not be for too long of a time. BTW, that was a LOT of pickles you canned yesterday.....your trug maker will be very happy😘

  Pleasant dreams to all.

  Jenny

Good morning everyone, we had a cooler weekend and no sun at all on Satur day so took a short walk outside Saturday. Boy did that tire me out. Not used to it anymore. Yesterday it rained most of the day, very welcomed, a nice soaking rain. Did not get above the mid 70's and a big relief from the hot humid days.
Gee I have no t been awake an hour yet and am ready for a nap. Wonder if being closed in like we have been here is getting to me and I want to sleep to forget it all.

A cancellation list at the eye doctor would do no good. I have to arrange with my son to take me and some days he s very busy and cannot drop everything to take me. Since he and my DIL baby sit their grand son he is too much af an active kid for my DIL to watch him alone. At least the days Yvet te is here she can put drops in the eyes, I cannot do that. Even the eye doctor has a problems, I am so afrad of anything coming at my eyes I blink. I know they are not going to hurt but---

Have a good day and stay safe.

We actually have sun this morning and the temp. is not too high...at least, not yet.  Still pretty humid, though.  However, the sun angles have changed and it is beginning to show small signs of Fall.  It can't get here too soon for me.

Thanks, Michael, for getting us back on-line.

No appointments and no particular plans for today except for laundry.  Things pretty much normal.

Take care, All.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Glad to see we're back in business at the Soda Shoppe and everywhere else on S&F!  Sure did miss you guys.  I have to tell you that due to a glitch in my email plan, my outgoing email is going nowhere!  I've sent 3 to Amy with questions about the Mustard Pickles and she hasn't answered so I know she's not getting them.  I answered one that Callie sent me and I'm pretty sure she didn't get it because her next one only referred to the one she sent me.  I also sent one to Bubble and she never answered and that's VERY unusual!  I think the glitch might be fixed but until I get an answer or two, I won't be sure.

We had a lovely night.  I slept with the windows open and I actually needed a blanket!  It was down into the mid 60s overnight and is only supposed to get to a high of 82 today.  Plus there's a lovely breeze blowing!  I was actually a bit chilly when Mickie and I took our walk this morning.

I have all the stuff gathered to make AMY'S Mustard Pickles.  I was going to put them in the brine to soak overnight but I had too much to do, so that's scheduled for tonight nd the pickling and canning for tomorrow.

Guess I better get started or nothing will get done today.  If I got as many "somethings" done around here as I do "nothings" I'd be in pretty good shape.

I wish you all a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it while you enjoy a chocolate soda!

We had a cooler night, one of the few times I've slept with the sliding door open all summer. Of course that is not a good idea with cats thinking it is some way to entertain me all night wanting in or out. Still no cool temps for daytime & need to get out right now to vac the pool & cut down some of the taller weeds in places the mowing duo misses.

Gloria, that is one of the worst fears I have is getting those drops in the eyes before & after cataract surgery. No matter how many ways I tell myself "it's okay"... I blink & the drops roll down the cheek. I buy the eye wash with the cup that fits over they eye & finally got my eye to stay open when that bit of water flows in. I can't, never could, keep my eyes open when swimming.

I got the eye of round roast sliced & run through the tenderizer, packaged & in the freezer last night. Those minute steaks are so good because I don't leave all that gristle in, just melt in your mouth. The cats enjoyed a few bites, they don't mind the gristle... but have a little fat in a baggy to take down to the river this evening.

Better get busy, "burning daylight" as John Wayne said in one of the movies. Have a good one & stay safe! Shirley

Good afternoon. Nancy and I made a pineapple up side down cake, with real pineapple.I pealed the pineapple and sliced the rings and cut the core out of them. Nancy put the brown sugar and butter in the bottom of the cake pan and i put the rings in it and the Maraschino cherries the hole  in the pineapple rings. she had the cake mix in the mixer while I were cutting the pineapple and putting it in the pan. and the  rings in it.

Sounds good, Lloyd... and I usually put a layer of pecans before the pineapple so they get stuck with the brown sugar. I made a big-big pot of chili today. Kept a bowl handy to keep checking the flavor. I don't like hot with pepper but want a good flavor. Got to go fill the ZipLoc tubs & put in the freezer.

Mowers come tomorrow & the yard sure needs it. Grass is going to seed. They won't zip around like usual. I have some limbs I cut off that need to go into the rolling dumpster when I unlock gates. Got a pretty good pile & need to cut down more. Those darn mulberry trees sprout up in ever crack of concrete besides all over the yard.

Had a whole group of Canada geese on the river tonight, they stand in the water & flap their wings on the water to peel back the pin feathers, I think. When the river is deep enough (like right now) they clean up & do roll overs in the water, like a bunch of kids. I think someone has been taking my big catfish off.... more carp than cat tonight, and somebody trimmed away the weeds right by the river edge that I let go on purpose. We don't OWN the property to the river edge but pay extra taxes for being on the river. Public fishing is on the other side of the river since there is a bike & walking path over there. I think anyone fishing on this side is usually someone in the neighborhood that is too lazy to clean off their own spot. I think everyone on this side that backs up to the river have fences so people can't get onto OUR property front & back like when we first moved here. At that time this house had the only fence completely around because of the pool. A number of houses/people have put in pools since so had to fence in. That's my world today.

The baby oil that I mashed B-1 tablets in last summer, is working even better this year. Since I started putting it on my arms & legs & neck I'm not getting all those bites. They look like chigger bites & know some were mosquito and another kind besides the oak mites.... Buggy season because we didn't have a real hard freeze last winter. At least the baby oil & B-1 isn't harmful. The old pharmacist told me to give the pills to the kids the year we moved here, said B-1 is what is in the prescription doctors were giving at that time. The pills lasted the kids about 5 hours and worked really well.

Gotta get that chili put away. Wind has died down but I'm not going to water again tonight, I'll wait until they get done with the mowing. Hope everyone gets a good sleep, sweet dreams & tell us about your world tomorrow! Shirley

Good morning everyone. So glad to get in here this morning. Thank you Michael for all you do to keep us up and running.

What a change in temperature here,  last night went to 57 and a good night for sleeping. No AC only a fan in the bedroom and the window open. So good sleeping with some fresh cool air coming in.

AMY  how do you make pickles with zucchini? My daughter makes relish with them. My son has so many in his garden this year he keeps me  more than supplied with them and I share with Yvette. I like them but can only eat so much of them.

LLOYD  this morning was 57 when I got up and checked it.

PHYLLIS  Monday night we had a thunderstorm and I slept through it. I know my windows wer e wet when I got up, only way I knew we had 1 inch of rain, Sunday night we had 1/2  inch of rain. More rain that we have had since spring when we had so much of it.

JANE  I have had that problem with email not going out before. I had not heard frohe ones I emaled and one day loo in the box for unsent mail and there they all were. My grandson got into my PC from his home and he fixed something. I love watch the arrow moving around wi th me just sitting here watching it.

SHIRLEY  I can do better with an eye cup than drops. I used to open my eyes under water so the eye cup was easy for me.

LLOYD  been a long time since I had pineapple upside down cake but with the canned pineapple rings.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Beautiful cooler morning here. I have to go pick up dog food
and more canning jars. Since I still have beets, dills pickles and tomatoes to do 4 more cases should do it.

Gloria, I always swam underwater with my eyes open, but to put drops in my eye is another thing. NOPE, not happening, not sure what I will do when I need to put drops in.

I think we are still on the old site and Michael is still working on the glitches so we can go to the new site. I am so glad he understands all that as it all gobbley gook to me.

Better  move it, once we get back home we have the fence to put up..

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe..

It is 75° already so better run to the store before it gets any hotter. Cool last night so had the sliding door open and lots of breaks in sleep to let cats in & out. The choices we make.  :crazy2:  Trees are hardly moving right now and it feel strange, like it could storm. Checked radar & only a few showers to the west that don't look serious.

I was checking out the flu we called "Asian" that I had back in the '50s & again in the '60s, ran across this article I thought interesting.  https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31201-0/fulltext  Makes me wonder what would have happened if we had not shut down the world (like those times), would it have lingered this long or run the course faster and be over. Don't think we have an answer but certainly plenty of time to ponder.

I saw someone interviewed on TV that had a mask that looked like it had a spring type "rib" that went from the top of the nose to chin to keep the fabric away from the nose & mouth. To me it looks like a great idea. I breathe so hard the fabric sucks in & out as I often need to breathe through my mouth. Any of you that sew remember buying "staves" or such that we sewed into formals to hold them up if strapless?  Maybe Google can find some, or Amazon. My husband's white shirts had them to keep the tips of the collars in place. Gotta go search while I think of it.

Well, I found something on Amazon and hope it works. Was talking to a friend my age & asked her if she wore the "strapless formals" to her dances. Answer was "yes" so I asked her what held them up! Boobs alone aren't the answer. We agreed the term was "stays". I was spelling it "staves" so after she thought about it, called back with the different spelling & it worked! Google & Amazon agreed so I ordered a roll & will let you know if sewing them into the masks will keep the fabric away from nose & mouth with kind of an arch from between the eyes to below the chin. The stays are made of polyester now, not the metal ones of long ago. Anyway, will let you know how it works. My problem is having to breathe through my mouth (I think I am repeating myself)... part of the time.

Lloyd, I do have plenty of "common" sense, just wish I had more "techie" sense. Sorry about your monitor. I am still struggling to fix all the changes going from Cox to AT&T, problem is I don't understand what "they" are talking about in their instructions.

Good morning
I guess there are many that can't access this the old forum or the new one. I can get in here but not the new one.

We did get the fence up..looks good but I sure don't want to do that again. Most was easy pounding of the posts but some were a real stinker ,hitting roots or rocks.

Today will be a catch up day..lots to do .

Shirley ,they may work just make sure there is double stitching where the stays are.

Making this short ,will be back later.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, another good cool night to sleep. Would be so nice if the daytime temperature would stay in the 70's. August is usually the hot month here. It was another 57 this morning when I got up.

AMY  yesterday my eyes felt like they were either  full of sand or dust or  something so Yvette put drops in my eyes. I cannot do it myself. Not enough str  ength in my hands to squeeze the bottle to do it. Like you what these techs do with computers is gobbey gook to me. When I watch my grandson move his hands so fast on the keyboard and the different places he goes on the PC I will watch in amazement. He gets into the registry and places I would never look for. He is the one who took up computers in college and was hired while still there as an intern for the company he still works for. They have sent him around the world setting up branches of their  company. He liked that before he was married and after their  son was born he does not like that.

LLOYD  I remember a September that was still hitting close to 90 and people still going to the beach.

SHIRLEY  back in  the  times of  those other pandemics we did not have the instant news we have now and many did not even have a radio. Now the ones who report the news soud more like the like the limelight and make things sound worse than it is. Getting so I do not  watch the news anymore, just the local news.

No JANE yet this morning? She is most always here before me.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Gloria, you got that right about news people always looking for the chance to get their face on national news with a sensational spot, even if they embellished it. It has gotten so bad I don't bother watching the news, just see what everyone is talking about after the fact!

I'm slow moving this morning. Not quite 8:00, so cool with the door open I just had to sneak out to see if the morning glories are showing off. They are not as brilliant blue as other years, but the vines have gone crazy popping up all over the yard & every tiny space they can find a little dirt. Super still so better go turn on the sprinklers. Think I will open the slide on the motorhome as soon as the sprinklers quit, need to clean & sort. I won't need the stuff that goes to CO, at least for now... in MO I will not be cooking for anyone but myself & I take most of what I want already cooked in the freezer. I'm hoping to get away late Sept. I can dream, can't I?  (a song in there, remember?)

Amy, I did think about that but am having misgivings about how this new stuff will work with a mask. Anxious to get it & have a try with the cat face one my daughter sent. I wear it most but thick fabric & tends to breathe in & out with me. Not sure this new kind will give me the air space I'm hoping for. By the way, I had not noticed a different forum.... this is what I have always had bookmarked. Did everyone move?  Am I spittin' in the wind?  Guide me!!!

Better get moving, still in sleep shirt & summer robe, have not made it down to turn on the sprinklers or even had breakfast. Cats fed.  :o

Good morning, sunshine.... where ever you wake up!

The sunshine is here in North Carolina, Shirley, but probably won't stay long.  Supposed to turn cloudy and rain again this afternoon.  I think I'm growing gills and webbed toes.

Nothing much going on today except to order groceries online for David to pick up tomorrow.  I don't think we need too much.  Trying to think of something that I won't have to cook.  Maybe I can hire a live in chef.

Take care, All.

So, Amy, how to you find the NEW forum?  I thought it awful quiet in here. Hope Michael figures out we're like a bunch of fleas, gotta keep us together or we'll wander off.

Phyllis, my daughter goes back to St.Louis a week from tomorrow and has been shocked at the amount of rain where she is in VA, DC area. They lived in Seattle a few years & she loved that, didn't mind the dry rain but is not a fan of the humidity with what y'all get on the east coast! Was thinking about you yesterday when looking at the sycamore tree I transplanted down by the river. So tall now and already did a good job of shedding it's bark last year, so that pretty white shines out for the winter. Lots of those trees in the Ottawa area as well as along the river where your brother lived here in Wichita. Memories, we have a few, huh? I take a cut off just east of Ottawa when I'm going to the lake between Clinton & Warsaw. Do you remember where the cider mill is in Louisburg?  I don't remember the highway numbers and always have to check my GPS to make sure I'm heading the right direction. Always new stores or changes so can't count on old landmarks. Even the cider mill keeps adding more attractions and changes its looks. I cook in binges.... have a freezer full and I'm not that crazy about eating it later. Am hungry for taco soup but will have to wait until I eat up some of what's down there.

Bought 5 of packages of turkey hot dogs yesterday, to have all my crew over to the park to fill up on chili cheese dogs while the kids run off some of their steam. I'd have them to my house but with a pool & river, their parents would have to be on guard constantly. For the last couple years we've gathered mainly at the parents home because their basements are both "look out" and have monster rooms where the kids can ride those air boards or keep busy with all their cousins toys.

I thought the parents might enjoy a chance to not have to think of what to cook (even though we all bring food), gives the kids a chance to play with other kids so I'm hoping we can do this Sat or Sunday this week. Decided not to even take hamburger so not so much cooking. I made the chili this week & froze in tubs... but if I take the RV to the park we can use the microwave in it plus keep the ice in the freezer cold. Still like the hotdogs grilled out, may even take the propane grill my daughter brought last trip in.

I've day dreamed an hour so better get a move on. Not going to buy the buns until I find out if this is a good week end for all. My youngest son & significant other took bikes to ride in CO, she has run the Pike's Peak marathon the last couple years but the virus has changed things, so he bought them both new mountain bikes and still get to enjoy the mountains. Too early for the trees to change but any trip to the mountains is a good time.

Not going to check in again until much later. Hope all have a great day, where ever you are... and those missing can find a popcorn trail back.  Shirley

Shirley,  my dil posted a Youtube site on Facebook that tells how to make masks that leave space around your mouth.
I think it was the first one shown on the list - but not positive about that.  (I am not a subscriber to Youtube - that I know of.  ;) )

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbCt3aNWjZTSPsHmBIVvZxA?view_as=subscriber&fbclid=IwAR0_IEBDzP1X82rY0nYdY2TpHO3wDUxnnneqTtwdhwSI3XJF4fD8cG5qGpI (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbCt3aNWjZTSPsHmBIVvZxA?view_as=subscriber&fbclid=IwAR0_IEBDzP1X82rY0nYdY2TpHO3wDUxnnneqTtwdhwSI3XJF4fD8cG5qGpI)

This is the only S&F site I can get into.  Was in the "new" one once.  The next time I tried, I was told it didn't exist.  Now my bookmarks take me to this one and I can see every new post in all the forums.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere finds something to Enjoy about today.

Callie & Amy, thanks for the links.  I watched & decided i needed to bookmark & watch again. I think the stays come tomorrow or Sat (Amazon) but so tired tonight I can't think. Not sure how this stuff will work, but I ordered the bigger roll since is was only a couple dollars more than half the size. Think there will be plenty of ways to use it & if it works, will share with family.

Cats decided to stay out tonight & think I will not open the door so I can get some sleep. Last night I didn't get a single 3 hour stretch and Fitbit doesn't diagnose type of sleep under 3 hr. I rarely get more than a few MIN of deep sleep & my kids say they get 3 or more hours every night. The cats seem to have a schedule of either wanting in or out at about 3:15 am..... and dumb me, let them get away with it.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. For our friends on the west coast, special thoughts & prayers with the fires.

Shirley,I think we are always on the wrong side of the door with our pets.

Lloyd, wow, that is a lot of beans. Beans will taste good come this winter.

Phyllis, see if your chef has a brother and send him this way please. I like to cook meals that there will be some leftover for another day....after that it goes into the soup pot. We haven't had pizza in a very long time .may get one or make one for supper tonight.

Good morning everyone, slept great last night, a whole 8 hours and I am awake now. Lately I feel half asleep when I get here. I am now getting 3 more hours a week with my CNA. A couple of months ago I had an interview with my insurance and the case worker decided I needed more hours and it was finally approved and started yesterday. More time for her to cook for me. That I will appreciate. Looks like the cooler days are over here for now, up into the 80's today with the humidity going up again. In mid September we will be getting our flu shots here .We will get a time for each of us to go down to get them so we do not get close with each other. Wonder if we will ever get to socialize again.

SHIRLEY  watching news on the different networks they all have a different view of the news. Disgusting. Even the weather reports are different on the local stations.

AMY  glad to know why JANE did not post. I have no problem getting in here. Sorry she cannot get in. Miss her.

PHYLLIS  like you I would love to have a chef here every day to cook what I like. Yvette is OK but is more used to cooking fish and Portuguese  food that her husband loves. Too much garlic and onions for me.

AMY  all the different patterns for masks, makes me wish I could still sew. If I tried using a machine now most likely I would ger the needle in a finger.

LLOYD  that was a lot of green beans canned.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

HOORAY!!  I got in this morning!

[/I just decided to try it one more time and there you all were!  I almost jumped out of my chair, I was so surprised...and happy!

It's been busy around here with canning and freezing and haunting the produce stands.  I've got corn in the freezer and I'm getting more this afternoon.  I've got green beans canned and on the shelf.  I've got pickles, 3 kinds of jam and tomatoes ready for the veggie soup.

But, BOY!  Have I ever missed all of you!  If AMY hadn't kept me up to date, I've have really been down in the dumps!

I see you've all be busy and it's too much to comment on separately so I just wish you the all the best and keep on with the good life.  I'll be back when I can!  When I haven't seen my kids for a couple days, I text them with "I love you and miss yu!"  I'm saying the same to all of you.....I Love you and miss you!

Good morning.  Quiet day here, so far.  David will pick up groceries later on this morning and that is all that is planned.

Shirley, I don't know anything about Louisburg, KS, so can't help you with the cider mill.  I looked it up on the internet and was surprised to see it is considered part of the KC metropolitan area now.  I've been gone from Ottawa for almost 70 years so everything has changed and I would probably be lost if I went back there now.  We have Sycamore trees in N.C., too, though I don't have any in my yard.  They grow very tall here, reaching heights of 100-125 feet on average.  But, most of our trees get very tall here.  They are beautiful but can be dangerous in our storms.

Take care, All.

Gosh, how strange that some of you could get in the site and other's couldn't

I haven't been able to get in since Monday.  And, I have tried several times each day.  Tried a little while ago, and was happy that the site came up.

And, I see where Jane had problems also.  I know that Michael had said the site would be down, but didn't think it would be a whole week.  However, there must have been a glitch somewhere, as today it worked.

I did go back and see where different ones had been in here during the week.

Anyway, glad it worked this time.

I will have to go back and check the sites for the making your own masks. I just ordered a couple from a site that showed up on Facebook.  I could make some if I would just stop being lazy.  I don't like the real loud colors on most of them. But, I did find a site where they had some really pretty pastel colors.  One place I got some ordered they were 3 of them for $12.  So, I had an e-mail where they were shipped.  I still might try making a couple more.  I like the ones that have the pleats.  They don't seem to slip when you are talking.

However, I do find them to be a big PAIN!.  But, we have to do what we have to do to stay well.

It sounds like everyone is doing ok.  I did read a message from Jackie on Norm's page, where she has just been having trouble with her internet and phone.  At least, she is ok.

Jane, I really envy you with all the canning you have been doing.  Wish I could be that ambitious.  My mother did a lot of canning, but I never got brave enough to do any.  I did used to freeze veggies when I had a bigger freezer.  I am still waiting to fix some string beans, but will wait until my son can pick up a smoke pork neck so I can cook them with that.  I called several stores to see if they carry them, and finally found a store near where my son works that has them. That is what my mother used to use, and I really like the flavor they give to the beans.  Hopefully, I can get my freezer cleaned out so that I can save a few of them for later.

Hope everyone will stay safe.

Joy

Good Afternoon,

I had the patio door and a window at the other end of the house open all morning.  The a/c didn't come on until almost noon!  Surely is nice to have things aired out - even if it did make me sneeze.

I also like the pleated cloth masks and have discovered there's plenty of air if I point the pleats down and don't get in my mouth if I pull them far enough under my chin.  I toss them in the laundry after wearing.

Can't talk about any canning/jelly making I do but can tell about dil's 80 jars of jelly (4 kinds) and about that many jars/bags of fruit and veggies "put up". Most everything came from their own garden, fruit trees and berry bushes.

I'm still working on the photo album for #2 son.  Am at the half-way mark and trying to work on it at least a couple of hours every day.

Hoping Everyfriend Everywhere finds something to Enjoy about today.

Sure been a busy day doing nothing..... I did get dishes done (haven't used the dish washer for ages & know that is not smart, but I don't put a lot of stuff (pots & pans) in it & seems crazy to not just go ahead & wash the few dishes I do use. And only other extra I did get done was clean the drain in the sink of the bathroom I use. Been running slow & doesn't take much, long type tweezers & then a couple doses of vinegar & baking soda & it runs like a champ. Had a nice visit with some neighbors from around the corner. I was adjusting a sprinkler ... (haha, don't know how but a little kick usually does the trick) got stuck sprinkling the street & that's a waste of water, it ain't never gonna turn green!  :uglystupid2: Time for bed. I am almost moving in my sleep. Hope everyone has beautiful dreams.. happy to see the missing Friends show up today!   :smitten:

Good morning every one. Already 71 after the last few mornings in the upper  50's already warm and humidity climbing again. Guess August wants to live up to it's name here just HOT. Then again the heat waves were in July this year.

JANE  so great  seeing your post this morning. Glad you got in at last. You sure have been busy. My older son has supplied me with tomatoes. Yvette and I have blanched and pel some and I have them in the freezer. Yesterday he brought another bag full. Monday we will Add those to what I have in the freezer and will have almost enough to make spaghetti sauce.

JOY  I used to do a lot of canning in my younger days. Cannot do it anymore.

CALLIE  I like the washable masks. First ones I had were a wear once and thow them away. Waste  of money.

SHIRLEY  i don't do much of anything anymore,I sure am lucky to have Yvette 5 days a week.

LLOYD  hope you found a good movie.

AMY  weather guessers are saying 90 next week again. Don't need or want that.

Have a good day abd stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Mickie thought it was time to get up at 5:20 this morning  I pointed out that it was still dark but she insisted.  So I indulged her.  I've been doing stuff ever since and just as I got to S&F, the boiger went an we had to get breakfast.  I read the paper while I ate mine and then it was time for our first walk of the day.

It's a beautiful morning here! It was only 63º when I got up and it's 70 right now.  Perfect for a walk! However it will be into the low 80s by noon and then reach 90 before it starts down again!

I'm going to make a quick trip to the Mennonite store sometime today to get more corn!  I have 13 2 meal packs in the freezer and I want to double that before I quit and I need one large pack for the veggie soup in the fall!  So I'm figuring about 3 dozen more ears. But I only do them a dozen at a time.  There was a time when I went to a farm and came home with 100 ears at a time.  On those days, my kids would moan and complain because they knew they weren't going anywhere until it was all shucked!  I sure miss my shuckers!  I'd even put up with the complaints to have them all back at the same time!  And not just to shuck the corn! I could use a few hugs!

I guess I better get this day started or nothing will get done.  I wish you all a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your good friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

It is a nice day here on the
Rocky Coast of Maine.   Sunny
and warm.   My AC is still on
to keep the higher temperatures out.

I got up at 10:30 this morning...
It is so unlike me to sleep late
in the morning.   But that is because
I don't like to go to bed early
any longer.  Crazy mixed up hours!

Next Tuesday I am having a sleep study
done.     Boy will I be glad when
that is over with...  I don't think
that I have sleep apnea,  but that
is what they are testing me for.

I will be very surprised if I do .

The crises that we are now in because
of Covid and next Novembers big
election,  is really weighing on my
mind....  In November thru the
end of the year I am hoping that
things will get better,  but silently
dreading that they will not.

I think this is why my sleep schedule
is so messed up ..  Always something.
I should be grateful that I am
in as good shape as I am in...

So here is to being grateful !!!

Have a good weekend..

Well I spent the day most all day in the hospital with my grand daughter and her
daughter. the great grand daughter stepped on a garden rake that was laying in the yard with the teeth up. one tooth slipped under her sandal and poked  through her foot bottom to top but not through the skin on top. no stitches required, just tetanus shot and antibiotics. she set beside me leaned her head against my side and I talked genital and in a short time i got her to stop crying on the way to hospital. pretty tough for a 7 year old little girl. well that is enough excitement for this old man for one day. so I am going to sign off for the day and bid you all sweet dreams. hope to see you all tomorrow.

I'm all closed up and ready to hit the sack.  We have an overnight guest and he'll occupy the bed with Mickie and me.  Gonna be fun.  Frankie worked extra hours and late ones today so he spent most of the day with us.  I think Mickie likes it when he's here.

LLOYD, what a terrible thing for your little gal.  Thank goodness she had Gramps to soothe her on the way to the hospital!

AMY, what a good idea for cutting off the corn.  I'm going to try it tomorrow.  I might need a stool to stand on to make me that much higher above the counter but I do have one.  2 dozen ears are shucked and waiting in the fridge, so your tip is right on time!

SANDY, nice to see you in the Soda Shoppe.  Hope your test comes out the way you want it to and the next few months will be a bit more relaxing for you.

Now I'm off to Dreamland!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a good sleep last night and wake and full of energy. I have some energy but dar n back will nt let me do much. At least with my rollater I can still get around on my feet. Better than being in a wheelchair. That I am thankful for.

JANE  Mickie wanted to change the daily routine yesterday. Get out of the rut?  Last year my son brought me some corn and his tool  to get the kernels off the cobs and I froze most of them. Tasted good during the winter. Like y o u I would like having my 3 here at one time with their families. Nothing I desire more than that. Been too many years since that happened.

AMY  I hope BUBBLE is not sick. I know the times I could not get online I was miserable not getting here.

LLOYD  what an ordeal for your little greatgranddaughter. Those rakes should never be left like that. Someone was not thinking to drop it that way.

Looks like I am too early for anyone else to bu up and awake. Time for my second cup of coffee.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Foggy out there this morning. Rain during the night along with the sounds of crashing thunder. Both did not last long, just long enough to scare Babe.

A day of rest here.....hope to sew later on. We had Kyle's sister in for a visit yesterday.

Jane, place your cake pan in your sink and that will give you the height you are looking for without getting on a step stool .Hope that works for you.

Gloria, we are now back to the humid days.I really don't care for them. We did put the a/c back on yesterday and it s on now.

Lloyd, I hope your great granddaughter's foot is better this morning.

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day everyone..stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We are just waiting for the boinger and breakfast.

AMY, another timely tip...now why didn't I think of putting it in the sink!  I think I might have when I started setting up but it's nice to know in advance.  I'll try that.  I suppose the funnel in the middle of the pan brings the cob just high enough for cutting.  Thanks, again!

There goes the boinger!  I'll try to get back later!  I wish you all a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Jane, I see that Amy suggested putting the pan in the sink and I was going to say put it on a chair but, please, don't climb up on a stool!  You do not need another broken arm, do you?  Or anything else broken?

I'm sorry to hear that Bubble is not well.  I worry about all of us when our health is in jeopardy but never seem to know what to say to offer encouragement.  I'm thinking of her and hoping she is getting better each day.

Cloudy, hot, and humid here.  Pretty much the same as it has been for all of the summer.  This summer has been so full of challenges for all of us.  It is hard to remain positive.  But, this, too, shall pass.

Take care, All.

Good afternoon everyone

I can't believe how many days it is since I was here - the time has just flown.

Since I was last here both of my daughters have left Edinburgh - the elder has returned to London and is back working in her office at the London Oratory School, the younger has moved into her new student house at Dundee, though her proper term will not start till the beginning of October. I was a little bit worried about Anna being back in London, but so far it all seems to be going well, and in fact London doesn't seem to be having nearly as many problems with this virus as other parts of the UK. She has moved into a new flat share, and her lovely boyfriend has now moved back to London too (he had been working at Wells Cathedral in Somerset) - they had not seen one another since February, and I think she was really anxious about their reunion, but he made it really special for her, with flowers, perfume, a lovely dinner and a night at a riverside hotel, so I think he is in the good books! I am glad as I really like him.

Apart from that I have just been doing more of the same - reading, writing, gardening and walking. I am perfectly happy with that, and know I am so lucky to be living in such a beautiful area.

Unfortunately we are back in semi-lockdown, thanks to some of the clubs and bars in the city centre - they were allowed to re-open in late July (a big mistake) and although some abided by all the rules, others clearly had no intention whatsoever of doing anything of the kind - no social distancing at all, no contact details taken - some pictures on social media showed hundreds of people gathering in the chaotic queues outside (Aberdeen is well known for its weekend nightlife) so goodness knows what it was like inside. I do understand that people are ultimately responsible for their own behaviour, but these places - which are more than happy to take people's money - have a role to play too. No surprises then, when there was a spike in cases and the entire city was locked down again. Not everything has been closed - mainly all the pubs, restaurants and cafes, which seems a little unfair on small cafes like the one we have here in the village, but I suppose they can't make exceptions.

We are also requested not to travel more than 5 miles 'for leisure or holidays' though this is advisory only. It is frustrating for us as we live literally less and 100 yards from the border with Aberdeenshire (which is not locked down) and many miles from the city centre. This is a rural area with more farmland than shops! Anyway, I hope the restrictions on travel will soon be lifted as I would like to drive over to Aviemore to see my son and daughter-in-law, but that's hardly urgent, and as for the pubs and clubs, so far as I am concerned they can be shut indefinitely.

A friend of mine, who is currently living in France while her husband is on secondment there, has come over for the birth of her first granddaughter (who obligingly arrived a few days after my friend did). As the daughter and husband are living in my friend's house, she is renting a little flat just a couple of minutes walk from my house, so we have been able to go for plenty of nice walks (and talks...) Her husband had been planning to come over too, but now that the UK has imposed a 14 day quarantine order on anyone arriving from France he is not able to do so, as his entire leave would be used up in quarantine. He will hope to come later in the autumn. The baby is really cute and is called Iona Jennifer.

Today I have already been down to the river - decided to start making an effort to get up and doing earlier, I can't keep treating this like one long holiday! And as it is a Sunday the paths tend to get a bit busy with families and the dreaded cyclists, so it's best to go early. I found a bench and sat and read for a while - I am reading a children's book from my own childhood, The Family From One End Street by Eve Garnett (written in 1937, long before I was born, but I loved these books and read them many times). I wanted to see if I still liked it or not, and I was slightly worried that it would turn out to be dreadful, but I'm glad to say I am enjoying reading about the Ruggles family in Otwell-on-the-Ouse. Mr Ruggles is a dustman, Mrs Ruggles takes in washing, and they have 7 children, the most interesting of which are the oldest, Lily Rose, and the next one down, Kate. I wanted to call my youngest daughter Lily Rose but sadly my husband would not give in on that one!

I am still working my way through A Place to Call Home (on Prime) most nights, though on Friday I watched a most interesting documentary about the Bruderhof Community, which I had never even heard of before. In some ways their lifestyle resembles the Waldorf-Steiner communities here on Deeside, but Bruderhof seems much more extreme and to require a huge commitment from its members. They seem happy, but I suppose any that were not would have left. I don't think I could cope with all that 'communality'.

I hope everyone has a good day and that temperatures are starting to fall - it's a lot cooler here, but of course it never got remotely near the heat that some of you have been suffering. My daughter says London is finally cooling down too, for which she is very grateful.

A Good Sunday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.  So happy to be back in the link with all of you, thanks to Angelface and Jackie for sending me snail mail telling me that we are up and running again😘

Not a lot new around here.....forest fires are still very bad here in Colorado and all over the west😩😢  The smoke is terrible and everyone needs to stay in and keep all doors and windows closed.

My kitty nailed me on my hand a week ago.....actually he bit me,  and it became quite the infection right away, so I am on antibiotics again.  Have not been on any in many, many years and now I have been on them twice this month🤪

We saw Mark, Megan and Jonah for more than likely the last time before they leave for the new job in California.  We had such a fun visit with them in spite of the fact that the little guy fell coming up the step on our front porch and scrapped himself pretty badly under his chin.  Daddy tried to catch him, but his hands were full and he ended up slipping and made Jonah land even harder.  Thanks be to God, he did not hit his mouth on the corner of the step....so it could have been so much worse😩😢

Yesterday our oldest grandson turned 15 years old❣️  I know many of you remember the day he was born.....I was convinced I may never have grandchildren and now we have been blessed with SIX.  Matt is anxious to get his learners permit to be able to learn to drive, but due to Covid there are very few appointments available and he will be having to drive nearly to the northwesters part of the state, to Craig to get the license and that will be on next Friday.  They have to have this learners permit for one year before they can proceed to getting a license.  Moral of the story he will not be getting it on his 16th Birthday, but a week later. 🤪

Covid numbers are coming down again here in Colorado, so many things are being loosened again.....

I am so happy to be back up and running again......at wish you all a good rest of your Sunday.  ENJOY 😘

Jenny

Hello Evryfriend!  Nice to see Rosemary and Jenny back with us!

JENNY, poor little guy!  Hope he doesn't hurt too much! But I bet he knows people love him!

And, NO, PHYLLIS, I don't want to break anything else and I think it would have been a pain jumping up and down off a stool to cut the corn off.  Putting the pan in the sink worked very well.  However, my corn cob kept slipping down in the hole, so I cast around for a solution to that and my eyes lit on a jelly jar sitting there waiting patiently for use.  I turned it upside down over the tube and it was just the right size.  But it seems I'm never satisfied.  It wiggled a lot so I took it off and folded a paper towel square and laid it on top of the tube and put the jelly jar back on.  It was a perfect fit!  No more slipping.  I also folded a dish towel and put it under the cake pan and stopped that slipping.  And I got done in record time.  This is one tip I won't forget and I'm sure to pass on.  It might have one glitch though.  My daughter loved the idea and she's a canner but she said, "I wonder how many in my generation even have and angel food cake pan".  I suppose she's right about that.  They buy their cakes!

Gotta go scratch something together for supper.  Hope Everyfriend is having a great day!

Good morning everyone, another Monday, how I disliked Monday morning when I was working, now it is just another day to do what I feel like doing and also means Yvette will be here later.  Today will be getting the tomatoes my son brought me Friday ready for the freezer.

AMY  the counters here are so high I put everything in the sink to work on it and even then it is high. I think it must have been a tall man who designed this building. I think the is only 3 tall people living here and the rest of us are short and have a problem. We are suppoed to hit 90 here today, yuck.

JANE  wish I had something interesting to share here but every day is about the same. Here in the mornings and read during the day anf have a nap most days. Not interesting.

PHYLLIS  like you I never  know what tosay to someone who is ill or had a death in the family or a friend. This about the only time of the day I could go outside, before the sun comes up and it gets way too hot for me.

JENNY  the smoke from the Ca. fires is in the air where my daughter ives in Az.

LLOYD  is your mouse a wireless one? Maybe you need new batteries in it. If is is wired maybe you need a new one.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Today is paying a bill and then housework.

Gloria, those tomatoes will taste so much better than the canned ones from the store.

I need to get ready ...will be back later..

Enjoy your day everyone .stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Our temps are back to lower overnights and higher middays.  Today's high is only supposed to be 82 and our overnight lows are mid 60s.  My kind of weather!

AMY, your suggestion of the angel food cake pan didn't just "help somewhat"!  It was a life changer!  I got all 2 dozen ears cut off at once and the packing was also a lot easier.  THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER for the suggestion.

This morning is a "suit yourself" morning.  I'm only doing what I enjoy.  So far, that has been breakfast, walking with Mickie, reading the paper, doing the crossword puzzles and visiting with my friends.  I do have a casserole planned for supper ad I had to make the dog food before I could feed Mikie but that's OK!  Sounds like a good day!

I wish you all a good day, too!  Make it your own in every way!  And always SHARE with your friends.

good evening everyone. well has been a busy day. Had to make two trips to warrensburg , but got the License renewed for the car and me also.I have C D L so i can drive curmishel vehicles trucks and or buses. I most likely wont, except my Owen cmi. truck and trailer. and maybe not even it. I will likely only drive our motor home and pull the trailer with the van on it, If they ever get things fixed where we can travel. sure glad grand daughter got this fixed and the picture posted. I think it needed to be resized. as you can see it is one drawer and door wider, you can see the edge of the fourth drawer and door to th right side. also maybe some of you can resize it and fix the problem. good day. some one asked the other day about our grand's and great grand's living with us. you can see they are lot more help than they are problem plus all the enjoyment the great grands are. the hutch is some of my handy work. I built it in my shop, it was appraised by a cabinet maker for $4,000.
have a great day. good night and sweet dreams' it is Made of red oak. sawed and planed out of a red oak log cut out of a tree on our farm and lumber was sawed by me on a wood Mizer saw mill I used to have. and planed on my big planer.

You do beautiful wood work, Lloyd. Nice that you are enjoying the little ones.

Extremely hot here today and I am exhausted. The humidity was over the top. I cut up a watermelon & took most of it over to my son since he will be taking care of his grands tomorrow. His wife is teaching (remote from school). I think it is more difficult than teaching in person. Also took enough taco soup for their supper tonight, it is a well balanced meal with 8 different types of cans of beans, corn, V8, tomatoes, RoTel & much more, plus fresh onion & garlic & couple pounds of scrambled/browned hamburger.

Cats had their last meal of the day and lounging in the pool area. Last night when I went down to the river, I saw a chicken hawk flying over as Callie followed me down. I made a swing of my arm to show the bird not to mess with us. I have a taller than I am pole I use to hike down into the river bed with and does give me a sense of security, like when I see the fox or coyote. They have never acted like they would chase me and I don't threaten them. They eat whatever I take down and don't feed the fish. I used to always carry a camera down because so many different critters, but have been lazy this year.

Jenny, sorry about the cat bite. Every now & then Tiger will want attention & reach up to pat me to look at her, her toenails are sharp & if they dig in at all they will itch & turn red fast. I do keep a bottle of alcohol handy & a tube of the ... mind went blank, stuff for scratches, etc.

Amy, I bookmarked that link.... have another sewing job before making any more masks. I tried on a pair of cargo type pants from Chico's my daughter brought me... they have the tabs to roll lets up, but with my short legs it only brings them to ankles.... Decided I can cut them off at the knee & would wear them, they are baggy but I like baggy when hot, can't stand anything tight in summer or driving all day, so I have 2 sizes in my closets. She came with a big bag of tops that most had tags on yet. She's like her father, when he found something he liked he would get one of every color. With these I think when she wore the first one & washed, she didn't like the way it came out of the dryer so didn't wear again. I don't mind ironing, not sure why, but I've always ironed everything.... so have enjoyed all the new tops since we don't have a Chico's on my side of town. In my whole life I've only found one pair of pants too short when shopping... was so surprised I bought them anyway. After the first wash I cut them off for shorts because I was self conscious with them above my ankle. I've always had to hem them up or roll them up.

Gloria, so happy for you that you get extra hours with your buddy. You must be doing something right!

I am off to bed, can't get enough water today. Cats have been the same, every time I look one or the other is drinking. I have a bowl on the edge of the swimming pool that I fill every time I go out. They will drink out of the pool but the wind & sun has been lowering it every few days so they look like they will fall in when bending down. One of my jobs in the morning, vac the pool and add a few inches of water.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Prayers for all in need. Shirley

LLOYD, that is absolutely beautiful!  I used to work in the Pennsylvania House Furniture Company office and we had a showroom on the premises.  I don't think there was anything any more beautiful that that in the showroom.  And the fact that you not only built it but you grew the wood makes it very special!

I accomplished a few odd jobs today...nothing spectacular but stuff that needed done and I made a casserole for supper that I can eat until I'm tired of it and freeze the rest.  It's one of my all time favorites.

Now I'm off to Dreamland and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, I was so tired last night I was in bed and asleep by 8:30 and woke at 5:30 this morning.

JANE  hope you slept good last night and wake refreshed this morning.

AMY  oh YES when I have enough tomatoes frozen I will make my sauce with meatballs and Italian sausage, in store made at a market I like. Family owned and has a few other stores around the state, not a big chain. Best produce than other markets.

LLOYD  I was ready to call my grandson to check my computer, just not working right. Sunday Windows 10 did an update and now every thing is working better.

AMY  not my kind of mask, I prefer the elastic around my ears.

LLOYD  beautiful piece of furniture. You have a feeling for working with wood. What kind of wood is it?

SHIRLEY  I used to be 5'1" but now I am under 5'. Cannot stand straight anymore. Darn arthritis in my back.

Have a good day and stay safe.

We had a storm last night..lots of welcoming rain ,lightening and not so welcome thunder.

We have the kids coming today so I need to get some thing ready before they come.

Lloyd, that is beautiful....a lot of hard work in that! One of a kind!

Gloria, I have made all kinds  ,neighbour likes the one with the ties, as they don't bother her hearing aid.

Shirley, I would rather make a quilt than shorten pants! I will do them but tis not my favourite thing to do.

Better git and give this place a cleaning before the kids get here.

Enjoy your day everyone. ..stay safe.

Gloria red oak. the log out of it was 20 feet tall before the first limb and 36" in diameter. at that time I had a woodmiser band saw Mill to make lumber with.
I Have in the shop three table saws one up to 14" in diameter two 10".  and two band saws a 14" and a 36" the 36" will cut up to 36" in with and 20" tall. but I wish I had never sold the woodmiser Band MILL. oh well i have enough equipment to play with. may give it all to the grand son he and his wife are the ones that do willing what ever we need.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're supposed to have a rainy day today but I'll believe it when I see it.  We we're supposed to have one yesterday and we ha tw small storms that lasted about 10 minutes each and left a few puddles but the roads were dry 15 minutes after they passed.  We could us one of those long, penetrating, soft rains.  Maybe the grass would be green again.

GLORIA, I did sleep better last night.  I woke a few times but went right back to sleep and we didn't get up until almost 7 this morning.  That sure beats 5 a.m.!

Don't know what's on tap for today except that Cooper will be joining us.  Frankie has a shift that will keep her away through suppertime and she doesn't like to leave him alone for so long.  So he comes over and joins us!  It makes Mickie hapy!  And I like him too.  It also gives me two short visits with Frankie!

I hope you all have a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Lloyd, that is a beautiful hutch.  My daughter-in-law would love to have it...she loves oak furniture and that is particularly beautiful.  I'm impressed by your talent.

Supposed to be hot, humid, and a chance of rain here today.  I think the weather people just paste up the same old forecast because they don't know any more than we do what will actually happen.  I don't think I would care to have their job.

Hope everyone who is not feeling well is doing better today.  And, that the rest of us stay well and have a safe and happy day.

Good afternoon all,

After a fine day yesterday, today we have a weather warning, pouring rain and high winds. I went for my walk early, and was rewarded by seeing an otter playing in the river. I have never seen one here before, although I was aware that there is a local population. I was so excited to see it.

Gracie (my Siamese) and I are now snug as bugs indoors and I have no plans to go out again today. I took the precaution of putting all my little pots of plants into the greenhouse, didn't want them flattened by the rain or knocked over by the gales. I really enjoy being indoors sometimes, and never so more as when the weather is crashing about out there - but I appreciate it's easy for me to say when I know I can go out whenever I want to. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to improve and I am going for a walk with my friend in the morning.

Lloyd: your cabinet is amazing, I have no idea how one would begin to make such a beautiful thing. And how lovely to make it from your own wood. I was a bit confused at first as for us in the UK 'hutch' almost always refers to a house for rabbits or guinea pigs!

I am reading as fast as I can at the moment to get through a 20 Books of Summer reading challenge that is supposed to be finished by the end of this month. Of course it is just for fun, but I don't want to be beaten by it. I have just finished The Family From One End Street and now I have moved on to Fear in the Cotswolds by Rebecca Tope - it is part of a long series about a house-sitter who inevitably comes across murders wherever she goes. It is quite 'cosy', and although I don't much like the main character, the plots are quite good and I enjoy reading about the Cotswolds, which are a very beautiful part of England (mainly Gloucestershire).

The amount of 'canning' some of you do is so impressive. Last week I did make a few jars of chutney (rhubarb, date and apple) and jam (rhubarb and ginger) but that is the most I have done for years (it was brought on by finding some packets of rhubarb being sold off at Tesco). 'Canning' is another confusing word for us - I first read it in a James Beard cook book many years ago, and I had visions of American people somehow preserving produce in tin cans (the sort we get soup or beans in), I always wondered how you sealed the tins!  But now I think you must mean what we would call bottling or preserving - in glass jars?

I hope everyone is having a good day,

Rosemary

Kids have left for home..house seems so quiet now.  We left the men at home and went to the Mennonite market where I got a half bushel of lovely tomatoes to can . I know what my work will be tomorrow and I hope to get it all done before the Dr calls.

Amy, wish I had your ambition & Jane's to can, but I am good at eating!!!! I started the day like a house afire, had the front watered, ran the vac in the pool & filled water level back a couple inches, cut down all the dead flowers in the little flower bed in pool area. BIG jobs. Every change of water setting means a run to the basement where the controls are for the well. Gloria, I think I wore my short legs down another inch!

Lloyd, my brother had all that wood working equipment you talk about because he had some acres with a creek that ran through & brought him many downed trees, besides the ones on his property. He was shocked when he saw me pay $75. & another $50 for 2 small slabs of walnut that was about 2 inches thick. I was sculpting at that time & needed walnut bases. Man that did that work of cutting, sanding smooth & staining charged me $8. each base he got out of the wood.

Still have some bases but haven't sculpted anything new for years because I quit doing the art shows. I did donate a couple pieces to different charities that brought well over $200 each, not big pieces. Had a lady that fired the pieces for me in exchange for me painting portraits of her dog. I've painted hundreds of dog portraits, started out charging $10-$15 each & quit when making $300-$500 each.

I did sell to a shop but they said they would double but instead tripled what I sold to them for. Got to be too much work to keep track of supplies, the government wanted every tube of paint, canvas & brush accounted for to do the shows and no allowance for how many hours & weeks it took. So last 30 years I've done special paintings as gifts for people that have done a favor for us. I still have a room full of art equipment & supplies but not ready to part with any yet, something to think about "someday".

Well, my mind wandered when Lloyd talked about the oak tree. Lloyd, I still have the table saw we built the house with but most of the other saws eventually wore out. I've given or offered any of the stuff to our sons but they think we may need them here as long as I stay in this house.

Time for me to go feed the fish. Fed the cats but not me. Been a busy day & I am getting my second wind, had a short nap after the yard guys left. Happy to see everyone checking in today. I don't think we will get any of the rain from the hurricanes but daughter is afraid it might mess with her flight plans to come home on Friday. So many bad things going on this year I'm afraid much more and people will really get depressed.

Hey there Everyfriend!  I didn't have a plan for today but it worked out pretty well.  A few weeks ago, I ran across a recipe for
Carrot Soup that sounded pretty good.  I had some huge carrots in the fridge from the Mennonite store and had everything else on hand to make it so I did.  But when I weighed out the carrots I only had enough for a half batch so I have 4 pints and a half pint in the fridge to eat tomorrow.  I'll let you know how it is.  Sounded like a good lunch for a cold winter day.  And it sure is pretty!

AMY, I think my next project will be tomatoes and/or tomato sauce!  I'm out of both!

Right now, I'm tired enough to be thinking longingly of my bed!  But I can't go there until Frankie picks up her little boy!  He's such a sweetie!

I think this will be my last visit with you all today so I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

OK.....I posted something yesterday and I do not see it!  Now what did I do?

I commented on a few things that I wanted to after reading all the post that you all did before I was able to get in.  Then I told you we are working on something that I would tell you all about after we got the final word and I asked for your prayers that if we are suppose to go through with this then it will work out.....and if we arbor suppose to do this it just will not......well here I am a full day later plus some hours and we still do not have a answer.  It is a glitch on the other end that is holding things up, so hope you noon tomorrow we will have our answer!  God willing.

I wish I had news to tell about the fresh tomatoes I was able to purchase from a farmer or the like!  Not so lucky!

JANE, your carrot 🥕 soup sure sounds yummy!  I hope Frankie arrived shortly after you posted to pick up her Boy Cooper so you could hit the hay!

SHIRLEY, they had a nice rain just south of us this evening but we did not even get a drop!  The smoke was really bad again here today..

AMY, always nice to read that you were able to spend time with your family today.

PHYLLIS, we are on day 65 of temperatures in the nineties this year.  I think it will go on record that this is the hottest summer in Colorado ever!  The fires are still terrible here in the west.  Sadly, others are having the hurricanes.....I think we are being told some this with all these tragedies going on in our world😘

GLORIA, I sent Regina a friend request n Face Book today.  I thought it would be nice to have her contact so incase you are not able to post.  Of course she will not know who I am so maybe it would be nice if you could tell her.

LLOYD, the hutch you made is beautiful.....thank you for sharing this picture with us.

It is after midnight so I hopefully can  post this and head off to bed.....sweet dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I still have Cooper and I didn't get even a short visit with Frankie!  They asked her to stay and extra hour and then come in at 8 this morning so we agreed that they would both be better off if he just spent the night here.

We did get some rain yesterday.  Just enough so that I didn't have to go out and water the tomato plants and the flowers and that's good because I didn't really want to.

I'm going to eat the leftover carrot soup for lunch.  I'll let you know how it is!

GLORIA, as you can see above, I didn't really have a visit with Frankie yesterday.  But she'll pick up Cooper after work today and we'll have a short visit.  Maybe we'll have supper.  I have two pork chops in the freezer.  Now what goes with them?

The boinger just went off and I have two doggies to feed and walk and my own breakfast to squeeze in there somewhere.  Have a great day!

Jane, I am sitting here listening to the pop pop of the canning lids.  I am glad the tomatoes are done.....all 19 jars plus a jar of juice to throw in soup. Question.......have you ever canned carrots? If so did you like the end results? I bought two bags and thought if they can ok I would do some.

Good Afternoon!  I'm delighted to hea that BUBBLE will be back with us, although I'm not truly surprised.  I just had a really funny email from her.  In fact, I'm still laughing off and on!

AMY, I was that a half bushel or a peck of tomatoes?  That's a lot!  I don't even have that many jars left!  I'm going to have to order some on line because WalMart is out and if they are, I'd be willing to bet most of the stores around her are out too.

I have canned carrots and they were OK but not good enough to tempt me to can them again.  You might like them better and I might like them if I could find another way to can them than the Ball Blue Book's way. and by the way, the Carrot soup is great!  I almost wish there had been more left than a half pint.  I have a feeling that won't last long on the shelf!

Today I made cucumber mint jam out of the cucumbers left from making mustard pickles and my mothers cucumbers and onions (not canned, just eaten).  I'll let you know how that is after breakfast tomorrow.  My plan is for a bagel with cucumber jam for breakfast.  I did lick my fingers and it tasted pretty good!

I don't seem to have the energy I used to have to do all this canning stuff and take care of a house and two dogs.  You don't suppose it has something to do with my age, do you!  I couldn't be getting old!  I was just 45 a couple of weeksago.

Jane, that was 1/2 bushel. I am also going to have to get more jars, just bought 4 cases but tomatoes took some and I have beets plus a LOT of pumpkin squash!!! Did you get the photos I sent? They are getting huge plus taking on a curl in their shape. I hope to save some seeds for next year..

Wednesday afternoon already!  My goodness the time sure does seem to fly.

Such wonderful news that BUBBLE is feeling better and will return tomorrow.

AMY, I just heard on our local news that lumber prices are up 80% and there is a very short supply here.  You of course mentioned this awhile back, so I was not surprised.  It has to be Gremlins for sure, that messed with my posts.  I will admit that I was messing back and forth with one message for SS and Norm's but one would think I would not forget to hit post on both of them.  To be honest though, right now, anything is possible with me as I truly question my brain right now🤪. I definitely remember my mom canning 🥕!   How nice to be hearing pop pop pop from the canned tomato lids!  Hope you got the doggies Hamburg cooked and ready for them.  Those lucky doggies😘 Do you put veggies in their meat?

GLORIA, I am Jenny Hardin on Facebook.  I look forward to hearing back from Regina. How nice Yvette did such a good job of buying specials at the store for you yesterday.....she sure is a great friend and helper for you.

JANE.....yummm, cucumber 🥒 mint jam👍👍  You always have so many nice yummy things you make.  I think your carrot soup may not last through the entire winter!  As good as it sounds, it may not make it to winter 🤣🤣🤣 Hope you are enjoying your time with Frankie tonight.

Believe it or not, we STILL are on hold with our wait for what JACKIE, in Norm's group guessed, a real estate deal.  We are nearly beside ourself!  Bob has had about enough with the selling agent and he is ready to say....forget it!  Word is, the selling agents computer died on him yesterday afternoon.....so he has been unable to get the offer to the lady selling for a signature, and in turn get it to us.  He is to purchase a new computer and hopes to have it to us tonight🤬🤬🤬🤬 My question is??  What kind of fly by night RE Agent only has access to only one computer to get his work done?  Sadly, we are taking this as a bit of a warning sign.

I made meatloaf in our air fryer for dinner and we are setting down to eat right no....it seemed to do a great job of cooking it.

More later,
 Jenny

JENNY, I have to make a stop at the Mennonite store down the road by the weekend and if I go down the right aisle, those great big, locally grown carrots might just jump out in my basket and cry to be made into more soup!

I hope things work out the way you want them to with the RE deal.  If it was meant to be, it will happen.

AMY, FYI, I've always found that pumpkin freezes nicer than it cans.  My recipe used a cup and half of pumpkin so I kind of developed the habit of freezing it in 1 cup portions.  (Around here, you can NEVER make 1 pumpkin pie at a time so one cup packs worked out just right).  Make sure you drain it well before you mash it.  I did that in the food processor.  It was one of the few things I did do in the Instant Pot and it went fast with not all the moisture of boiling.

Enough of the canning stuff.  We're probably boring all of you who don't can.  I'm going to go in the living room and perch of the couch with dog on each side and watch whatever comes on before my eyes slam shut.

Thanks everyone. total height is 6'7: tall and bottom to just above the drawers is 28" and it is 6'8" long. On the bottom shelf of the top part right in the middle are, three angles made from over 100 years old stinted glass from the old church windows I tore down in 1999. I also have a little kids rocking chair I built from some of the same lumber that the hutch is of. I will try to post a Picture of it here also, this house is built out of used Lumber rock and bricks out of old buildings I and son Jeff (deceased ) tore down.

Reading about the carrot soup & canning, I've never been a BIG fan of carrots but know they are so good for us, so did what my mother did, made "candied carrots". I use a small pressure cooker so works fast, pound or two carrots, put some celery (heart) chopped up as well as Mrs.Dash... and I do salt everything.... and when done pour off most (not all) of the liquid and throw in brown sugar & simmer a while longer. I buy the bags of already cleaned baby carrots & rarely have any left over. Even the grands & great grands love them.

I've been on a potato salad kick & not real happy with the store bought so experimenting with my own recipes. Did a potato in the microwave first time, took the skin off & chopped up, added the usual hard boiled egg, chopped onion, sweet pickle relish, mayo & mustard. So good I peeled 2 fairly large potatoes, hard boiled eggs & all the rest & made enough for 2 meals. Took some of my baked salmon out of the freezer & heated it in a skillet with butter, filled my tummy & was ready for a nap. Seems all I do is eat & sleep... and feed cats.

Amy, I would have loved watching the crows. Have not seen any this year. Not many birds of any kind. Not the fault of the cats, don't see many birds anywhere. Am not seeing any red winged blackbirds down along the river this year. Kind of concerned, what will eat the bugs if no birds?  I'm afraid that is what has happened to them... too much spraying on yards, shrubs & trees and killing off the birds. FYI, my cats prefer their hamburger raw instead of cooked. They are going through a real picky stage right now...  :knuppel2:

Good luck with the deal, Jenny, but I don't envy you any kind of moving. I went down to sort clothes today & gave up because too many stacks of all kinds. Goodness, can't believe how many I've accumulated. I don't visit my fav store as much since it moved, but my daughter brought me boxes & bags of shirts so time to pick out the comfy ones that I will wear & take to Goodwill the ones I will put on & take right back off. I'd like to have a garage sale, so much to get rid of & it pains me after hearing that lady with Salvation Army say "75% of clothes donated go to the dump". I needed a dust rag as I was sorting & took one of the oldest shirts & used it instead of coming up to get the Swifter!

Gloria, I'm still amazed that you have found such a jewel to help you. I would settle for a couple hours once a week or every other week, but have not found anyone I am comfortable having inside the house. I did not have a good experience with Home Advisor. My biggest problem is I am the only one that knows what I want to keep or get rid of so have to work right with them & not everyone works well together. One of these days........

So glad Bubble is okay & about ready to return. Being sick today is scary with the vicious virus hiding in every corner & breath.

My son called today to say he just got out of the doctor's office & for sure he has shingles again. This time on the opposite side of his face. On several medications because of being near the eye. He has been under stress with teaching grad students and not all the right size rooms & equipment. He loves working with them but an enormous job when some of the students are in foreign countries & other states so must do virtual as well as work with the ones on campus. We never stop worrying about them, do we?

Good night, Lloyd. One of our neighbors long ago owned a demolition company and their house was built of a lot of stuff they salvaged. They had a wrought iron spiral staircase that went up to a sort of loft over part of  the living room... a library.

Time to feed cats again so will wish all Sweet dreams & God Bless. Shirley

Please don't quit talking about canning!  I've never done it.  My mom used to long, long ago.  My M-I-L did that too.  Her canned, home grown tomatoes were to die for.
I love seeing anything about cooking, baking (eating).  I did get really industrious last week.  Made banana bread, just one loaf, and I'm still eating on that, from a recipe my daughter gave me.  Absolutely yummy!  Also, made some "chicken stew".  A saga about that:  several years ago, I made a pot of chicken stew (accidentally).  Was working with just what I had on hand, and it was delicious.  But, I did not write down what I put in it, and so could never duplicate the non-existent recipe.  So, this time, I had some pre-seasoned chicken breasts, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion and chicken broth.  Put that in the slow cooker, and Bam, it was awesome.  Had turned the cooker up the last hour or so (as the carrots were not done) and the chicken kind of made itself into shredded or pulled chicken. Not to worry, it didn't harm the stew/soup at all.  I shared some with two of my neighbors, who loved it.  Ate several times on the rest, and today was the last of it.  I fished out the remainder of the shredded chicken and made me several chicken tacos!  Ta Da!  I am not one who is opposed to left-overs.

Good morning everyone...

Woke to the sound of rain gently falling and I hope it stays for most of the day.

Today is label and put away the tomatoes. So many little jobs to do when you do seasonal work.

Jenny, we can't get any PT fence boards here, plus there are others pieces that re just not coming in. Same with canning supplies due to Covid. People stayed home and put in garden or others  are canning because of the uncertainty of supplies  at the grocery store.  Lady at the Mennonite market said they can't keep up to the demand of vegetables to can or freeze. The dogs love veggies Babe prefers her carrots cooked but Jessie doesn't care. They also enjoy beans ,green or yellow, brussel sprouts, cabbage ,cauliflower, broccoli and peas.........guess you could say they enjoy it all.

Shirley, to see the antics of the birds ,likely like your fish is so much more entertaining than tv!

Tomereader, your stew sounds delicious. I sort of follow a recipe but then add what we like or don't add what we don't. Difficult to tell someone that wants the recipe just how it was made!

Jane, thank you for the heads up on the pumpkin. I will freeze some and give the rest away. The neighbour enjoys pumpkin and she hopes the vine that is over the fence will have fruit but there is lots in the garden to share.

My git and go,forgot to git up but I had better go...

Enjoy your day everyone....stay safe please..

Good morning everyone - goodness me, you are so busy with all this canning!

I have been down at the river reading my book, but autumn is definitely here and I took a flask of coffee, which was very worthwhile.

I went with my friend to Dunecht House policies again yesterday and we really noticed the differences after just 3 weeks' absence - now the hillsides are covered in purple heather, very Scottish!

Very few people actually cook pumpkin here - they buy them for Hallowe'en, hollow them out, throw away the flesh and then throw away the rest of if after the day. It is such a waste!  I love pumpkin. I feel more and more that very few people here actually cook from scratch any more, it is all ready meals and frozen stuff - while at the same time, we are bombarded with glossy cookbooks and celebrity food programmes. People seem to like watching it on TV but then they just order a pizza for dinner.

I heard yesterday that the price of pedigree dogs in the UK has rocketed since lockdown. So many people buying puppies because they want one as they are home all day - once this starts to ease up and they are back at work, or going out and about more, I dread to think what will happen to all those poor animals. In Edinburgh all I used to see was dog walkers' vans going round and collecting them up/bringing them back, so that they could then be alone in the house for hours till their owners came home.I'm also concerned that the high demand will lead to even more dog thefts - this is already a big problem, but people still leave their dogs tied up outside supermarkets, etc, even when there are notices up warning them not to.

I hope you all have a lovely day, and that no-one lives in the path of that hurricane.

Rosemary

Good morning everyone, a cool 57 now and no higher than the  60's today, nice BUT according to the weather guesser it will be raining from about 10 till 8 tonight. Will see how close that is. Yesterday while Yvette was doing the laundry I went outside, wonderful sunny and cool out and I sure enjoyed it but boy was I tired the rest of the day. Was sound asleep by 9 and woke around 6:30 this am.

JANE  sorry you didn't get to have time with Frankie the other day. Hope she was there to have supper with you last night.

AMY  I am just glad I had enough room in the freezer of the fridge to freeze the tomatoes from my son. Just enough to make a batch of sauce. Just need a green pepper to cut up and add to the sauce. Forgot that when Yvette went shopping on Tuesday. The year we had over 100 tomato plants in my in-laws back yard I canned over 100 jars of tomatoes. and some jars of sauce. I could not do that now. Glad to read that BUBBLE will be back with us. I did not even check my email before going to bed last night. Bubble sure sends some interesting emails.

JENNY  I did tell my daughter about your message yesterday. I know she is spending time there with different groups that interest her. The lady down stairs from me told me she knows when Yvette is here, she can hear us laughing. We do tease each other.

LLOYD  you sure "waste not want not" with all that wood and other things you have reused. With that old wood you know it is well seasoned and will not shrink.

SHIRLEY  When Yvette was out for almost 5 months with her back the company sent so may young ones here and they sure do not know how to do much of anything. I had a couple of older ones who could not do anything, they were worse than me working now.

TOMEREADER  my Mother never had a recipe but was a great cook and baker. I follow recipes but my both sons and daughter can check what they have in freezer or fridge and cook a great meal. They must have some of my Mom's genes in them. My MIL was a terrible cook.

ROSEMARY  I wish fall was in the air here, I look forwar d to that season on the first hot day in spring. Would love seeing your hills wi th the heather in bloom.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up since a little before7 and my plan for today is "not much of anything".  Later, after Cooper comes, I might make a quick trip to the Mennonite store.

I have to tell you... I had the cucumber Mint jam on my bagel for breakfast this morning and it was UMM-MMMM GOOD!  It wasn't quite set yet but I remembered the recipe said it might take as much as 3 days to really set so I'll wait and see.

I'm really running low on jars!  I've ordered some from Amazon but I'm afraid I underestimated my needs.  That's what I get for giving away so much stuff!

TOMEREADER, I think your stew sounds great, too.  I do that with recipes too.  If I don't have a certain item, I tell myself, "This will be just as good".  And it usually is!

GLORIA, Frankie and I didn't have supper because she was later than I originally thought but we did have a nice little visit!

Now I better see what's out there hollering for attention and get something done today.  I hope you all have a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share!

I did pick up another basket of cucumbers so I had better make Kyle more dill pickles...

Here I am, back again.
Oh, How I have missed my S&F friends all these days!

And also I can let you know I do not have Corona :) I was tested twice: first in the ER and then again prior to be accepted in the Internal Department.  They make extra sure no one will infect others. But I knew there was no chance of that, it is more than a month I did not put my nose out of the house and Aviv had not visited for so long. Yesterday when I saw him, I had to say"wow, how tall you have become" - he just laughed.

Thank you for missing me, you all are so supportive and great.
Thanks.

Bubble, so very, very glad you are back here!  Hope the health problem is solved and that you can get back to posting here regularly, and back to your busy lifestyle.  I know you were glad to see Aviv.  Shalom!

Jane, my "plan for today" was "do something". Well, somebody woke up my Giddy-Up and Go.  I stripped the bed, fannied the ceiling fans, swept the kitchen, dining area and bathroom, mopped those, started the washing machine on the linens, whew.  Now I am taking a few minutes rest and cool-off period.  Turned that A/C to a blows-cold temp, and having a late coffee.  A friend and I were talking on the phone last night, both of us bemoaning staying in the house (mostly) and hating that we haven't found the wherewithal to actually get cleaning!  We look at a stack of papers, a messy floor and say "not today".  But then, as the song says: "Tomorrow Never Comes".  All that I've done today will probably put me on the couch or in the bed for a few days.  My back is already killing me from mopping. I'm going to call that friend and tell her I'm ahead of her in the cleaning process!  I bet there's no prizes for this.  I had asked, in my morning prayer yesterday, that He bless me with some "MOTIVATION" to get these chores done.  In His own time, He let me rest yesterday, and boosted me into the fray today. Do you all think I could stop now, for awhile?  Still have the bed linen to dry and fold, but that's on the plan for after lunch! Wish I had a creative cook on hand, as I've finished up all my home made stuff from last week.  Maybe I'll go to Whataburger!  Bye for now.  Good luck, good health and Motivation to all! :smitten:

am so happy to see the message from Bubble and that she is feeling better.

Bubble, You were truly missed and just so nice to see that you are back with us.

I am running on SLOW today.  Went back to sleep in the recliner and was woke up by a phone call at almost 10 a.m.  That sure did make for a slow moving morning.  Was lunch time before I knew it.

I had such a nice day yesterday.  There is a nice little park about 5 min. from where I live.  My niece brought her mother and another of my sister-in-laws up to my place, and my DIL picked me up and we took a picnic lunch over to the park.  It was a beautiful day ............  low humidity and a nice little breeze.  We had a delicious lunch which my niece provided and I had surprised them all by making a lemon meringue pie. I didn't tell them ahead of time, as I wasn't sure I would be up to making it, but I did.   They all enjoyed it along with some Pepperidge Farm cookies.  We stayed about 2 1/2 hours and my niece and DIL took good care of us "old aunts".  I had called the town office to make sure there was a port-a-pot available and turned out to be just a short distance from where the pavilion was with the picnic tables.  That was the first time I had been to the park and it was just so nice and clean and so close.  They all want to go again in a couple weeks. It sure was a nice change from sitting and looking at the 4 walls.  We had not seen each other since last Christmas.

It is a sunny day, but supposed to rain over the week end.  We really need the rain in my area. There has been scattered storms almost every day, but none have gotten to us yet.

Sounds like some of you have been busy canning so many good things.  I never canned anything, but did used to freeze summer corn and used to make homemade spaghetti sauce and freeze that.  That was the extent of my having fresh veggies in the winter.  I am not a big soup eater, so hardly ever make soup, but when I do, I just buy a few fresh veggies or frozen mixed veggies from the store.  Works ok for me.  I remember my aunt used to can corn and tomatoes together just to use in soup. And she used to make tomato ketchup.  I never liked it because I thought it was too watery.  I like good thick ketchup.   My husband worked for H.J. Heinz, so that was our choice of ketchup and still use it.

I need to clean up the kitchen a little bit, and I want to make some macaroni salad for dinner.

Have a good day.

WELCOME BACK !  BUBBLE !!!

Joy

Joy, so glad you had the "outing".... my family that goes to church with me has been having breakfast in the park after church. I pick up McDonald's & away we go. Gives the 3 great grands a chance to run & play after they eat, and the rest of us sit at the picnic table & visit. Sure a nice break after the days being alone.

Bubble, happy to have you back and glad you got to see Aviv. I noticed a big difference in my great grands after a few weeks of not seeing them. Glad you didn't have the virus and possibly after effects, wishing you speedy healing and that your strength returns fast. Hugs.

I did my deed for the day, have floor to ceiling double glass front storm doors. Yesterday I took the hose & washed off the front of the house with jet spray, the white wood shutters & spider nests that take over. Then I hosed off the porch so was necessary to clean the glass. UGG... Job done & I am done in~~

Tome, my towels are still in the washer so must go dump into the dryer (maybe a nap while the dryer does its thing.) Had not thought to pray for motivation but will see if it works for me. My messes have messes. :-[

And away we go..............

Hello Everyfriend! Well, my not doing much of anything backfired.  All these little things poked up their little heads and shouted "me, me, me, here I am!  I've been waiting forever!"

I'm really glad to see Bubble back!  And I'm glad to hear that Everyfriend seems to be doing well.

My big chore for the day was shredding office type paper.  The recycling center is open Saturday 8-12 so I want to take as much as I can but I have to shred most of it first.  I have two trash bags ready and a box of newspapers.

I also had to get the trash ready to go tomorrow morning and make sure it was out tonight.  However, I was spared having to drag the hose around the house and water the plants because about 5 minutes before I would have done that, it started to rain and it rained for a good half hour....the first 4 minutes of it on Cooper and me on the way home from our walk!  I guess they didn't know I already had one shower today.  I sure didn't need another one!

TOME, it sounds like you got a lot done today.  You deserve to rest on your laurels...or your clean sheets, whichever is more comfortable!

JOY, what a nice midday and afternoon you had.  Family is such a nice group to gather with and your family sounds like one of the best!  I keep them, if I were you!

SHIRLEY, isn't it always the way?  We clean something and sure enough, what's right next to it yells for it's turn!  Why can the next item just try to look clean for a couple of days!

Gotta go!  My eyes seem to be having a problem!  They don't want o stay open!  That always happens about this time of night.  I wonder why?  I used to be able to keep them open a lot longer!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone...

Sitting here listening  to the loon's call with a crow hollering about something in the background.

Need to label and put away the dills and then we are off to see our friend. Today is her 80th birthday and while in the area will pick up our kindling for the winter.

Lloyd, my goodness that is a lot of work picking and cleaning those tiny berries!!

Joy, a picnic in the park is a perfect way/time to spend with family. Hope you can do it again before cold weather. Lemon pie is everyone's favourite here.

Hope we hear from Phyllis and Callie today..

Enjoy your day everyone....stay safe..

Good morning everyone, here I am enjoying my first  cup of coffee with my friends here in the SS. It rained here yesterday afternoon. Don't know how much but it w as steady all afternoon.

JANE  glad your new jam was good, that is quite a combination.  Sorry you had supper by yourself. Nice to have someone to share a meal with.

AMY  Kyle must  love dill pickles. I have not had any of the bread and butter pickles since I tried them to see if they came out right.I keep forgetting to have some with a meal.

BUBBLE YOU ARE ALWAYS MISSED. Glad you did not have the virus. Like you I seldom go out and I can count on one hand the times I have been out on a couple of fingers. Glad you got to see Aviv. They sure grow and change fast. Every time I see my great grandson it amazed me how smart he is.

TOMEREADER1  now you have me longing for a nice juicy burger. I would even settle for a MacDonalds one along with fries.

JOY  what a nice day you had with some family members in that park. I have been wanting to make a lemon meringue pie but need the energy to make the filling.

SHIRLEY  you still have much more energy than me. I cannot even wash the inside of my bottom windows.  try but my shoulders start telling me I am not y oung anymore. CNA's are not supposer to wash windows but I know if I asked Yvetter to wash them she would. She already does more than the job calls for.  The new extra 3 hours sure made a difference this week.

JANE  like you my eyes want to close for a few hours about 7:30 every night. I try holding off till at least 9 but some night I am in dreamland  by 9.

LLOYD  that was a long time picking berries and then cleaning them. Hope you slept good.

AMY  we don't hear crows as often as we used to here. With all those beautiful tall pine trees in the back of the building cut down te birds seem to have gone with them.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I am moving slow this morning and so are the cats. Tom & Tiger lounging in the pool area and Callie still in her garage. Don't know why she loves that oven, but that is the door she goes to when bedtime. Woke up to 80° with "feels like 85°... NOT my kind of start to the day. We are supposed to have a cool front (drop to upper 80s) this week end. With all the fires & floods in the US right now, I'm almost afraid to complain ... but I do.

Tom is cleaning his face, maybe he is ready for breakfast. Tiger is sitting by the water bowl next to the pool. They really do not mind like a dog, at all. Not a leaf moving on the trees, peaceful looking but I have the slider open & can hear traffic on the bypass as well as the morning train as it rolls through town. Tracks are about a mile away but sound travels as well as the weight of the train, along the river and sandy soil. The water in the pool dances when trains go through. Such long trains.

Hay fever season is here, got a bumper crop of ragweed and all other weeds along the river this year. Don't ever think the weeds have been this hardy before, but river is always changing. What used to be under water has become my "beach" now, full of tall willows & weeds. I haven't been around to the other side to see what this looks like over here so may take the camera & do that today. Maybe a before & after photo if Bubble is up to posting photos again. Better close the door, getting steamy and I'm getting hungry.

Another "Happy Birthday", Lloyd. Always sort of a let down when we don't do anything on the special day, but nice when it lands on a week end and everyone shows up.

Happy Birthday, Lloyd.  Sure hope you have a nice, safe day to celebrate. You need to have a day where you just do something that won't get you in trouble.  LOL   ENJOY !!!

Gloria, I didn't put a whole lot of effort into making the pie.  Used a Pillsbury pie crust from the dairy case, and MY-T-FINE lemon pudding mix.  I guess having to beat the egg whites was just a little more time consuming, but easy with my electric mixer.  My mother always used the pudding mix, and everybody always said she made a good lemon pie.  I don't mind using any kind of a short-cut that I can these days.

And, yes, our day at the park was really nice.  I am hoping that my grandson will come up one day and we can go over there with the kids.  There is a really nice playground right by where the picnic tables are.  I would have a nice shady place to sit and watch them.  I can even see the building I live in.

I have been up and had breakfast, but my get-up-and-go hasn't kicked in yet.  I want to read for a while, and then see what happens after that.

Hope everyone will have a nice, safe day.

Joy

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, LLOYD!  AND MAY YOU HAVE MANY MORE TO CELEBRATE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

[/I've been up and attem this morning.  I already made a trip to Davy's (The Mennonite Store).  I got the last of the corn I need for the freezer and it's shucked and ready to cut off the cobs and freeze.  Cooper arrived just as I finished and I handed his mother her snack for break time (some green grapes from Davy's) and took the leash from her and she took off for work.  Now the doggies are napping and I'm visiting with my friends.  The angel food cake pan is out and ready for the cutting.  That's next on the agenda.

And would you believe?  Those carrots did jump into my cart so I'll be making more carrot soup one of these days.  I have everything else but my jars are getting scarce.

I also bought some red potatoes to try canning.  I think that might be my weekend project!  Also need jars for that.

I better get back to work or I won't get done what needs to be done today!  I hope you all have a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

That is a beautiful chair Lloyd, and I wish you a very happy belated birthday from Aberdeenshire.

Today is cool and cloudy. I met up with a friend I had not seen for years, and we went for a walk in the woodlands at Drum Castle (very near here) with her Labradoodle, Ruby, who is very energetic but also well behaved for being only 18 months old.

My friend's daughter is expecting twins - but she is living in Kuala Lumpur for her husband's job, so my friend will not even be able to visit to see the babies, as the country is currently closed to non-residents. I think a lot of grandparents are feeling the loss of their grandchildren at the moment, and let's hope it is only temporary.

I am reading a Nancy Mitford novel written in the 1940s - Highland Fling. It's a very light story about a group of very wealthy Bright Young Things who are part of a shooting party who have come up from London to someone's uncle's castle for the so-called Glorious Twelfth. Unlike the dyed-in-the-wood regulars, who all wear tweed and communicate in grunts, the young people loathe getting wet and bitten by midges, so they spend their time lounging around in silk pyjamas, listening to jazz, having breakfast in bed and calling each other Darling, much to the annoyance of the older members of the party. It's a good laugh if you don't dwell too much on their obscene wealth and privilege - and of course Nancy Mitford knew all about this sort of thing first hand, so she does make it all very funny.

I hope everyone has a good day - it is almost dinner time here already.

A Good Friday afternoon HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 💐

WELOME BACK BUBBLE❣️  Do hope you are feeling stronger each day.  You certainly were missed and I am sure glad you do not have the Covid Virus!

Another day, another dollar saved in our case.....still nary a word to tell about our supposed real estate deal!  Everyday the selling agent says all is well and he will be sending over the signed contract and yet we wait!  We have no idea what this unprofessional agent is trying to pull, but clearly there is something.  We are going to sit tight and see what comes of this, but rest assured we will not be going through with this purchase.  I just want to wait him out to see what is going on.

LLOYD, in my mind I feel like I already wished you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, but just in case, I did want to make sure I did it again, just in case.  I do hope you had, or are having an extra special day and I want to wish you many more healthy and happy ones to come.

JANE, there was nary a doubt in my mind that you would be buying and then making more 🥕🥕 soup🤣🤪🤪🤪. I will be anxious to hear about the red potato canning.

I have to say that I am not surprised that canning supplies are in demand as it seems everyone near and far is talking about canning.  On our local Nextdoor App. it seems that is about all people are talking about.

JOY, your picnic at the park with family sounded just perfect, and I know it was a wonderful time for all.

GLORIA, I hope the neighbor had a smile in her heart when she told you she could hear you and Yvette laughing😘  SWEET❣️

ROSEMARY, I had to smile as I read about your sinopsis of the Mitford novel you are reading.  What fun to be walking with the young Labradoodle, Ruby.  I do feel sad for your friend not being able to be with her daughter in Kuala Lampar to welcome in the twins.  I hope it will not be too long after they are born that she can see them💞

Our oldest grandson and his dad had to drive to Craig Colorado today for a appointment with the DMV for him to get his learners permit to drive.  This is over 200 miles away and a good 4 and a half hour drive!  Due to Covid, there has not been a appointment time available for him to get in.  How crazy is this🤪🤣

We are going to dinner tonight to be with our son and his family for the last time before they head off to their new life in Southern California.  We can not wait to play with Jonah, and just hope it will not be too long before we can go visit them and see him again.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

Good morning everyone. Looks like we are in for rain and thunder storms most of the day. Glad yesterday I did get outside when Yvette left. Was so nice and cool with low humidity. Just me and my book. Getting so people here even stopped saying hello to each other. Sad.

LLOYD  Happy Belated Birthday.

SHIRLEY  I am at  the stage when I wish every one would forget my birthday. To met is just another day.

JOY  I still make my own lemon filling for a pie. Old habits will mot let me take the easy way. With Yvette here she does all the stirring on the stove.

JANE  one t hing I never canned was potatoes. Let us know how that turns out.

LLOYD  beautiful chair. I can picture the little kids enjoying sitting and rocking in it.

ROSEMARY  that  book sound like it has some laughs in it.

JENNY  the lady who said she could hear Yvette and me laughing Is a very nice and friendly person. She was not complaining. Wow. Driving 200 miles to get a driving permit makes me glad  live here in our smallest state. 50 miles from one end to the other and we could be into a neighboring state or out in the Atlantic.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Rainy Saturday here..much needed relief for the ground!

My friend had a wonderful birthday, calls from all her kids and grandkids  made her day. Today is the neighbours birthday.

Laundry to finish up and may do more canning. Jars are in short supply in the stores now. I did find some an hours drive from here but will see if our stores are getting more in first.

Jane, hope the doggies shared the bed and let you sleep.

Gloria, everything is different now. Going into a store you have to follow the arrows and not all do. I have gone down the aisle the wrong way but no one has been coming up.

Lloyd, you do beautiful work. That chair took a lot of thought to put it together .

Jenny, hope you hear today on what is going on. Not very professional of the agent for sure.

Rosemary, that would be a lovely walk .Not only enjoying the scenery but the antic  of Ruby also.

Better get a move on here...

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I did NOT sleep well with Cooper in our bed!  I have already planned a major nap after his mother picks him up later today!  I hope she's feeling better this morning and it was only "tired" that was making her feel ill last night!

GLORIA, I got the idea for canning potatoes from AMY!  She says they're very good so I thought it might be handy to have some on hand for various recipes.  She encouraged me to try it.  I think she might have got the idea from her son's current girlfriend.  She and her mother have canned them for a while.

We're supposed to get more rain today, too.  The weather report says most of the day.  The temp is 70 right now and heading for a high of only 84.  Not too bad if we don't get wind with the rain.

I'm going to peel potatoes today!  And I think I might make a quick trip to Davy's to get another small basket of them.  But only if I hear from my DIL that she has extra jars.  She said she'd check when she got home and she keeps forgetting.  I ordered some from Amazon but they won't be here until Tuesday or Wed.  NOBODY in this area has jars or lids on the shelves!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your good friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Mornin' AMY, you slipped in ahead of me!

Well, I didn't peel any potatoes today because I didn't hear from Sarah about the jars until she got home from work this afternoon.  I did get a bunch of jars from her and they are all washed and ready for duty tomorrow.  I'll see how many jars I get from the potatoes I already bought and the maybe I'll buy more.

Right now, I'm just about ready to collapse!  Last night approximately 2 to 3 hours of off and on sleep was not enough.  And even my morning cave-in to the couch's excess zzzzs didn't help much.  I hope tonight is a better night and I'm just about ready to check that out!

We had lots of rain today but at least the wind wasn't blowing today.  I'm wishing you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Today, is a day of rest. I would like to get some sewing done,  so we shall see..

Jane, I hope you got a better sleep last night. Sure makes a day long when you need sleep.

Sandy ,thank you for the music video..

Phyllis has yet to peek in...hope everything is ok there.

Good morning everyone, well the we a the weather guessers were  wrong again, all the  rain wind and thunderstorms did not happen. We did have some light rain for  about an hour. Today is to be a sunny day and the sun is already up and shsining, only to get to the mid 70's so I just might spend the afternoon outside with a book for company.

AMY  Yvette was telling me about the arrows in the markets now. My daughter says that at times she well start up an aisle backwards for something near the end of the aisle instead of going all around.

JANE  when I think of all the canning jars I had that my ex gave away I could scream. I don't remember how many hundreds of them I had. Hope you had a restful night's sleep last night. Now I have only a dozen jelly jars and use them for every thing but canning.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

I'm up and attem.  Have to make doggie food first before I can feed Mickie.  I must say, I slept a lot better last night.  I astually feel rested this moring.  And I thin Mickie slept better too.  She was up and ready for her day at 6 a.m.

As soon as she's fed and I have some breakfast, I'll start peeling the potatoes.  And that's going to be my day!

I hope you all have a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it!

Peek in Pyllis...Joy, too

Good morning Jane, Amy and Gloria.

I am here earlier than usual today.  It is a beautiful morning and only supposed to be in the mid 80's today.  Heat and humidity due back later in the week.  That is ok with me, as I am not ready for summer to be over yet.  Seems like it just started. Most of you know that I like the hot weather.

Jane, glad that you got a good rest last night.  I had a hard time getting to sleep, but did sleep the whole night and woke up a little before 7.  I did want to get up earlier than I have been, as I have a couple things that I want to get done this morning.  Write  a couple checks and fix a couple cards to get in the mail later.

Hope everyone will have a nice Sunday.

Joy

I am sorry to have been missing.  It was not a good week for me.  Unfortunately, I had several days of not doing so well but am doing much better now.  I have "peeked in" occasionally on my Galaxy pad but just wasn't feeling like writing anything.  Spent most of the time in bed.  I'm feeling much stronger now and eating a little bit again so things are better.

Our day of "severe weather" yesterday didn't turn out to be much either.  Cloudy with a little bits of rain and some breeziness in the afternoon.  The end of the hurricane just fizzled out by the time it got here.  I can't say I'm sorry.  Sunny today.

Take care, All.

Just dropping in to see how your Sunday is going?

It has been a pretty laid back day here in Colorado.

PHYLLIS, sorry to read you have not been feeling well this week.  Glad you are feeling better.

I fixed a potato salad for our dinner and now will go and cook our chicken thighs in the Air Fryer.

Son Mark left Colorado this morning for his long drive to their new home in Palm Desert CA. He is towing a trailer with their van on it.  It is a heavy load and he is taking it real easy.

Have a wonderful evening.

Jenny

JENNY, it's so hard to say goodbye when they're going so far away and it's even harder when the little guy is going with them.  But I know you'll stay in tougch and at least you had a short time with them closeby.

I'm stopping in to say my farewells for the day!  I got 8 pints of potatoes canned, labeled and put on the shelf for "when the snow flies".  That's what my mother always said all the canning was for.  I've often wondered if she and my grandparents would have done so much work canning if the food had been so readily available in the stores back in the "Olden Days".  It was a lot more work then than it is now!

I'm going to try to get one more canner full of potatoes done tomorrow and then I want to make another batch of carrot soup and some tomato sauce.  I don't know which will come first.

Right now, I'm too tired to even think about it.  I'm heading for Dreamland and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone. Was asleep early last night. I was outside with my book yesterday for a few  hours  and I think the fresh air  tired me out, not used to it anymore. Of course I woke too early this am but well rested.

JANE  how many potatoes did you peel? These days I have trouble peeling one. Between hands and back I don't know which one gets me more mad at my body these days.

JOY  good seeing you post. I am the opposite of you, I prefere winter.

PHYLLIS  sorry you did not feel up to par last week. I hope this week is much better for you. I know I have times when I would just like to sleep my life away. Living in this place is like being in prison. No one around and sitting outside on a beautiful day like yesterday. Everyone afraid of being social anymore.

JENNY  I know how you were feeling when your son and family left for Ca. yesterday. When my daughter and her  new husband left for San Diego I cried for a week. Felt like I would never see her again.

JANE  the more you talk about the carrot soup the more it interests me. Would you send me the recipe, please? I love carrots and I always like soup even on a hot summer day.

Looks like I am the first one here to great this Monday.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Today is an historical day for Israel: El Al is flying for the first time to the Arab Emirates, to Abu Dhabi. Officials are going there to sign for a normalization of the situation. Peace on the horizon?

Good Morning Everyfriend!

And a special Good Morning to you BUBBLE.  The places existing under conditions of war are often in my prayers.  I will keep the Middle East there now.  I do pray that things will be more normal and peaceful in the future for all of you!

I'm off to the showers and a quick trip to the Mennonite store this morning.  I'll appreciate it even more, knowing that there are people who can't do that whenever they feel like it!

GLORIA, it's hard to believe that the people who live in your building can't make a bad situation better by association with one another under the conditions that have been set up.  Anyone can go outside and 6 feet isn't that far apart for a conversation.

Well, I finished my first cup of coffee and I'm heading for the showers.  I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to stop by the Soda Shoppe!  We're still allowed to visit!

Good morning everyone...

We are off to the city to pick up a few supplies. triple mix being one of them. This is a soil mixture that really makes plants grow!! Jane, I see visions of Jack and the Beanstalk here with the pumpkins!

Bubble......pray for peace. Peace could also be used across the world too.

Jane, they will be nice to just grab a jars of potatoes and heat up or fry up with onions and eat. I was pleased with the hamburg and I am going to try eye of round next.

Gloria,I think our bodies know when we just need extra sleep and there is no hope in fighting it. Just give in and rest.

Joy, like Gloria I too prefer the cooler weather. We seem to get two seasons here it is either freeze or fry.

Phyllis ,hope you feel better each day..

Jenny. like Jane said it is difficult saying so long to our family. My friend "face timed" her grands out in BC on her birthday and loved it. Maybe you can do something like that?

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..stay safe.

Good Monday morning.

I am just stopping by to greet all you early posters.  I need to get a move on, as I have some mail to go down for the mailman. Want it to go out today. So, I am ready to "jump" in the shower and get dressed.  ( not literally "jumping" . LOL

I so envy you all that is getting all that canning done.  Wish I had just a little bit of the energy.

Have a great day.

Hi back to you, Gloria.  There are still some of us here that do still sit outside.  Usually, there is a nice breeze.

Have a good, safe day to everyone

Joy

I just had a phone call from LLOYD.  He asked me to let you all know that he's not ignoring you.  He's having computer problems and he'll be around as soon as he can.  He wishes you all a good day!

Gloria, I have been having trouble peeling potatoes & apples because of Arthur in the hands, so dug out a non-used potato peeler & discovered it is a BIG help. Still have to use the knife to cut out the eyes & core of apples, but a big help.

Had errands to run this morning, odds & ends, so picked up the KFC meal with chicken breast to bring home for my lunch. Tom always smells when I bring that in & begs until I share. He likes that much better than the rotisserie chicken I get them.

Bubble, so nice to hear good news for a change!  Do hope & pray for peace, one step at a time! I'm in hopes you feel good enough one of these days to give us another look at your world. Don't know why the beach scenes are such a surprise to me, not the usual photos we see of "The Holy Land".

Never in MY lifetime have I felt such a division in the US, I blame it on political parties and their puppets. I think we should "de-fund" the politicians and limit terms with NO PENSION and maybe we could get some citizens with honest hearts to run the country. Besides that, I'm in favor of re-instating what we grew up with... LIBEL LAWS. Prove what you say or pay for the insults.... does that sound good???  This does NOT go to a political discussion, I am equally disgusted with all parties.  :knuppel2:

Having a pity party today, grandson & significant other get to spend a week in the mountains and I am jealous. The aspen are starting to turn, so the National Forest ranger I talked to this morning said (I was checking on conditions for them). Fire restrictions but they won't mind since they are using a tent & will camp in one of the National Forest campgrounds. Both love to hike, but this being bears filling up for the winter season, I sort of worry about the hikes. Gr-son has hiked & camped all his life so knows all the dangers. I haven't found a solution for my oxygen problem or would be hitting the road myself.

My test drive on the RV yesterday showed a "shimmy" (I called it a chatter) when highway speeds... checked with the guy that put tires on & he said pobably one or more needs to be re-balanced. The tires come with lifetime balance. I admitted to him I tend to overload so think I should get it weighed with a full tank of gas & water along with what I normally take along (cats don't count). He suggested where I could get that done. No reason for those tires to go bad so fast (except bad tires, and these are not cheap... Michelin.. very heavy duty!... wonder if they are being made in China?)  So, that's were my mind has been today.

I need to eat and get out to vac the pool. Had a little cooler day but kind of steamy right now. Thanks for the news from Lloyd.

Jenny, know you are sad with the kids moving back to CA but hopefully you & Bob can visit. One of the airlines is ready to offer some specials today. My daughter hopped a plane to help her daughter for a month, to get settled in, and made it back home this week without any problems. (YET).... Can you stop to visit your father along the way? My daughter often gets her tickets, when she was still working, to detour through Wichita to visit us a couple days, at little if any extra cost.

I've stalled long enough, better get busy or it will be dark. "Hi" to all... Jane & Amy, keep us cookin'... !

Does anyone know if Wheel of Fortune is doing old playbacks?  I see an audience & no masks but have not heard anyone saying for sure.  Shirley

I did get the second canner of "taters" done today.  And it was easier than the first one.  Experience counts.  I also did some other stuff that was hollering for attention and we had Cooper one more day.

Now I'm going to go get ready for bed and, who knows, I might just crawl in.  I'm sure as heck ready to sleep.  Soooo....

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  GLORIA, I'll try to get the Carrot Soup recipe off to you tomorrow.  I actually forgot about it today.  Sorry about that!
