Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Amazon has a HUGE assortment of Stools. Be sure the step area is big enough - you don't want to slip off the edge as you are standing on it. If it will not be moved much the ones with a tall handle are good for steadying.
I still have a stool I made for the kids about 55 years ago to reach the sink and toilet. Made of oak and will not tip over no matter where one stands on it - very stable. It still gets used around here for a small "step up"

You bring up some good points, Rick. I like the low ones as my balance is iffy on a good day.

I once had an aluminum step ladder with handles for years. Once in the kitchen, I stood on the top step and raised my arms to place a dish in the cupboard. Long story short, an alumian leg broke, and I fell, breaking two bones in my foot.

I never once thought about using those steps I had gotten used from my parents as they worked fine for years.

JaneS

Well, here I am!  It's been "kind of" busy day!  Got the recycling done and I have a whole quarter of a room to use again.  There was stuff all over!  I also tried out the beet relish and BOY is it ever good!  I made more than I thought I was going to and now I'm glad I did!

Frankie dropped off Cooper while she did some errands and we had two walks while she was gone.  Then when she got back we had a nice visit!  I thought she was going to stay for supper but she didn't!  Maybe she will tomorrow!  I have to be up and ready to head or church by 9:45 tomorrow so I better be off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Shirley I alsoeat a lot of Aunt Nellies" pickled beets slices. a health note they also help to lower and keep the blod sugar in check, regardles what the doctors do or donot say. I have all of the blod sugar testing equipement, and check first thing in the morning. I fiend eating the, Aunt Nellies" pickled beets dose help keep the blod sugsr level lower. If you are not to whempey about sticking your finger. but one thing I do not have enough wilpower to let alone ,and it messes with it a lot is icecream fudge bars. I get scolded a lot for that, and hard headed as i am I tell them I have lived a long and reasonable good health, filled with lot of acedents, and god can get me any time he wants, but he dosent seam to want me up there with him so far. I even died once on the operating table, while the were operating on my back rather doing testing the spine cord with die to see about the repture in it, ( have no crrtlage betwen L4 and L5) it hurts all the time but I have learned to egnore it for the most Part. no cartlage there and also have A titame srrew to the top coner to the left and up in my scule to keep the brains from running out. I was jerked out of the road grader when the weind cought the door, i tried to hang on but could not and I hit on myback on the rear tire of the road goader, that is what happened to my back, and in the year of 1914 I had three head injoyrs. the second one was the worest, that is when they put the screw in and the first one I was working on the cutting edge of the buldozer where some bolts had pulled throug  and dirt had built up. I had the dozer blade raisd up setting down , taking the bolts out , to fix it and the last bolt pulled through it and it slpped me harde nough to knock me over fla on the ground.  broke my left jaw and they wired it back to gather with staniles wire, whitch I still have still have it in there. Nancy says I am a accedent looking for a place to happen see youall tomorow. good night and sweet dreams.

Amy

Good morning

A beautiful morning here with a temp of 49° at the moment. Thankfully a day of rest here. Yesterday was laundry and after that I did mustard pickles and now have 22 jars waiting to be labeled and put away.

Some of the leaves are starting to turn colour already, more signs of Fall on the way.

Jane, did you get Jim's recope downpat  ready to share?

Rick, Kyle made two stools for the grandson, one stayed here and the other they took home. He made the base wider so no tippine plus put a handslot to be able to pick it up .You brought back memories..Kyle made the stool and I kept a box of cheeries on hand to help with the aim.. :2funny:

Patricia, I also have on hand a gizmo to reach things in the cupboard.....long with a gripper on the end to pick up light weight items.

Sitting here listening to the rooster crow and loons flying over head..peaceful.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning,

Lloyd, sorry to learn about the cow.  I stopped going to church "in person" when restrictions went into place; now I'm rather spoiled to watching service online.

Amy, your "icicle pickles" sound like what we call "Christmas pickles".  Are they red or green in color and look/taste a bit like watermelon rind pickles but made with cucumbers? I used to make them every year - then turned recipe and canning kettle over to dil.

Re: stepstools...    I have a very sturdy one with a non-slip surface and non-slip covers on legs.  Finally dawned on me that I wouldn't be able to reach the phone on the counter if I fell off - so I put phone on the floor nearby before I step on the stool. Haven't needed it....yet.

Time for church on-line.    Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Good morning; it's cooler here today after having 80 and 81 on Friday and Saturday. Right now, it's sixty with an expected high of only 71. We had a frost last week, one we'd expect in early October, but what one could expect has now been turned on its ear.

Amy, I also have a gripper, but since I bought the stools, I tend to use them more. I purchased mine when Larry had talked about having grippers. That is someone I miss seeing here daily and hearing about his life.

Lloyd, I'm so sorry to hear about your health and the loss of your cow. I believe Nancy is right.

Jane, you and Amy are amazing in what you accomplish daily. I used to have that energy, but it snuck away from me, and I never found where it went. I don't even meal prep anymore or bake and preserve as I used to.

My slow cooker, large pots, microwave, and grill all found new homes.

Anyone thinking to buy one of these, should first read the Customer Reviews.
Mostly terrible.  I wouldn't order one for sure.

I make it a point always to check the reviews of anything I'm interested in purchasing. You can always tell the ones promoted by the company and those by actual people giving an honest opinion. I checked the ones I purchased in Home Depot online on my cell before purchasing.

It just makes sense.

I made "Jim's Egg Thingys" today and they're great!  I have the recipe sitting right here beside me to post but my eyes are telling me they're tired and they want to close.  I'll be sure to post it tomorrow morning when my eyes are still fresh and wide awake!

I went to church today and when I mentioned to the sub priest that we had today that I had spent most of my summer in OKLA with my daughter and her family, he wanted to know where because he grew up  in Tulsa.  I was in a "sort of" Tulsa suburb.  He knew exactly where I was!  Interesting!

LLOYD.. so sorry to hear about your poor cow.  What a shame!  I've never heard of that happening and I live in the country.

I think I better get off here and head for the haystack.  I'm really tired tonight!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Too tired to talk and had a couple thoughts put down that vanished so will just wish all SWEET DREAMS and GOD BLESS.

I hope to copy your egg recipe, Jane... and I'm so happy to hear about the trees changing colors already, Amy.... and the off & on cool days in your area, Patricia. We hope for a break in our weather by Wednesday but sure am tired of this year and last.

Lloyd, sorry about the cow, we paid someone to buy a calf for us to pasture & grain feed & have butchered when big enough... only the calf got out & hit by a car on the highway near Warrensburg.... was a chunk of money gone without one ounce of beef to eat. Not a good deal and never tried that again!

The eyes are blinking slower, staying shut longer so better get these old bones off to bed. I got up at 3:00am & only a short nap this afternoon.
