I was in line at a restaurant. In front of me was a mother with her college-age son and his girlfriend. It was the middle of the dinner rush, and many customers were restless at the long wait, but the young couple, holding hands and kissing, were oblivious to everything around them.
Although clearly not approving, the mother was silent, until one prolonged kiss when the young man had his face and hands buried in his girlfriend’s long, curly locks.

“Do you have to do that here?” the embarrassed mother asked.
“I’m not doing anything, Mom,” came her son’s muffled voice.
“My earring’s caught in her hair.”

Good morning everyone..

Sounds like you two ladies, Jane and Jenny had a wonderful birthday. Jane I bet your grandson would turn heads dressed in his uniform!!

We are off to the city, hubby has a test to do...we will just go in and out of the city , no shopping. They are calling for either rain or snow here again. Yesterday we had both but the snow didn't stay.

Gloria, glad to hear Reginia is doing well and happy to hear they got it all! The worry for both of you is taxing and now she can rest/heal at home.

Joy, thank you will look for it.

Mary Ann, the only reason I can think of was to cool it down quicker?? I know the fudge was so good.

Shirley, hope your sil and your daughter are doing well after their surgeries .

Larry, hope you have your computer problems all fixed by now. That job can be very frustrating for sure.

Bubble, thank you for a new page and beautiful graphics. Cute joke too!!

Jane, have a line full of happy, smiling customers today!!

Lloyd, may you have a trouble free day!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Friday morning.  Thanks, Bubble, for getting us started on the final month of 2017.  Like the new graphic.

It is a pretty sunny morning, but chilly right now.  Supposed to warm up for the week end.

Just a reminder, since we have a new page,..........I have put the 2 recipes in the Homemaking, Food and Gardening board.

I was a long time getting to sleep last night,  I was still up at 1:30 and was posting here on Seniors and Friends.  Finally got to sleep, not too long before it was time to get up. I need to get dressed and go down to the office to pay my rent and put some bills in the mail.  Then, I am sure a nap will be needed.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Gloria,   I did want to tell you that I am so happy that your daughter's surgery went well and I wish her a very quick recovery.  I am sure you did sleep better knowing she was doing well.  Scary time for all of you.

I do hope that June and Jenny had a wonderful day to celebrate their birthdays.

Gloria, I am happy that Regina's surgery went well.  I had a hysterectomy many years ago, glad that I did.  I had no cancer connected with mine and I'm glad the doctor got it all for Regina.

The sun is shining so we will have a nice day, but cool.  It is less than 30 degrees now.  Brrr.

I'm going to get my Christmas cards out to see how many I have; I don't send many any more, as others don't also.  But there are some people I don't keep in touch with other than at this time of the year - and they don't have computers.

Hi Everyone. We are going to have another 70 degree day on this 1st day of December.  Our housekeeper should be here in a little while and the house is ready for her.  I don't have anything on the schedule that will require me to leave the house today.  I did get up yesterday afternoon with a scratchy throat and feared I might be coming down with a cold.  I used some cold ease type lozenges and seem to be better this morning.

Yesterday afternoon I reinstalled Windows 10 on my desktop computer as it had become unusable.  When you do this your applications and a few other things have to be reinstalled.  I have decided to give the new Edge browser a try and have my favorites set up.  Later today I will install the printers  and a few other things and I will be fully back in business.

Pat will be having another shot in her back as soon as the insurance company approves and then it can get on the schedule.  There is another area of her back that is giving her a lot of pain in her back and leg.

Joy, isn't it about time for some "white stuff" up your way and further North?  Sorry to read that you weren't feeling so well yesterday and hope today is much better.  When we feel good it is easy to overdo.  Pat did that yesterday as after her doctor's appointment she stopped at Aldi's and got some groceries and just about did herself in.  Your cookies sound good. Pat hasn't made any fudge for several years and probably won't again.  The last two years we have made the crockpot peanut clusters that are so simple and so good and we plan to do that again this year.

May Ann, I also missed wishing a Happy Birthday to June and Jenny.  So will send belated wishes to both of you. Are your birthdays on the same date.

Amy, your mother must have been a hardy soul to stand outside and stir the fudge.  I have reinstalled the Windows software several times so at least knew what to expect.

Gloria, that is good news on your daughter's surgery that they got all of the cancer.  I hope she has a speedy recovery.  I remember my mother making divinity but don't remember Pat ever making it.  I can usually get a few of the right response to the Jeopardy answer.

June, just think this time next year you will be starting on 94.  I hope this is a good and enjoyable year ahead for you.  I don't think I knew you had a policeman grandson.

Jenny, I always seem to be a day or so late with Birthday or Anniversary good wishes but they are non the less sincere.  I hope you had a nice celebration.

Callie, I must say I am just a wee bit envious of you in your attendance at the Philharmonic Christmas Show.  It sounds like you had a delightful evening.

Bubble, thanks for the new start for this week.  That is a delightful graphic that you created.  A cute funny.

I tried to get in last night but for whatever reason, instead of coming to this date it insisted it was 3 months ago!  Really needed that confusion to end my day!!  Had that "wellness check up" that Medicare sponsors... did okay on everything except remembering those 3 little words, so intent on the visual of "dog" & "grass" I forgot the middle word, book.  She said that middle word got many.  The rest was a no-brainer but I do think it is probably a good thing after dealing with someone struggling with Alzheimer's.

Belated Happy Birthdays to birthday girls.... June & Jenny!  You are both loved so much by family & this group of family/friends, hope the whole year brings happiness.

Got the pool winterized but still want to pump a couple more inches of water out.  The new pump made it go a lot easier but I want it
low enough that a hard rain or even snow might bring it up so water can get into the pipes.  I've griped about the pool long enough.

Sun shining, still having above normal temps for this time of year, thinking about one more trip to MO before I winterize me.

Gloria, so glad Regina came through with flying colors and it is over.  Prayers that her recovery is problem free & fast.  Tell her I said "it is a good time to get out the paints and enjoy creating while her body heals".

My sister-in-law called last night, she is SO happy with her new knee.  She was in only 24 hours, my brother said the nurses & doctor called her "Super Woman" because she was able to perform all their requests for bending & standing beyond their expectations.  She is less than a year older than I am a has such a bubbly personality, a joy to be around.  Said she "got her house work done & 3 loads of laundry.... but couldn't remember which room she left her walker in".........  My brother absolutely worships her & so do their 5 kids, so she is being well cared for by all.

My daughter got her "release" from her doctor, to drive, (she drove herself to the office).  Glad to have the job behind her but was telling me that she had some panic attacks recently & finally admitted to the doctor.... sounded like the Dr was glad to find she really is human & explained away the "why" for the attacks & how to avoid them.  Just knowing they are not unusual helped.  Besides just
retiring she's spent a week baby sitting 3 grands while her son & DIL enjoyed a 2nd honeymoon since it was sort of business related for her son.... then spent another 2 weeks organizing & caring for another 3 year old gr-son before & after Mommie had a little girl.  She does all the cooking, laundry & deep cleaning when she visits her 2 married kids & they love having her come.  She has 4 kids & they all get their fair share of support from her.  Her husband is still working & doesn't want to retire because he really doesn't have hobbies, but they do enjoy traveling together.  Both have done a lot of it, all over the world, so hopefully they will learn how to relax.

Wishing all a very nice day with lots of happy thoughts.  The cats have not had breakfast but still closed off so I can't hear them complain.

You popped in, Larry, sounds like you are well organized with your day.  Hope Pat gets relief for her pain, I do remember having back pain so sharp my analogy was "it feels like biting down on an abscessed tooth".... You amaze me handling your computer.  I melt in a puddle at the thought of installing, re-installing.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Been a busy day so far.  Balanced checkbook and we had the cleaning lady here all morning, she has gone to my daughters now and my wife and my cousin have gone out for some lunch.  I am fixing to get in the bathroom and shave.  We are going out for supper tonight, not sure where.

We have a nice sunny day here with warm temps, suppose to be that way until Tuesday when we get some arctic air coming in, but not going to be that cold, so they say, but we shall see.

Anyhow hope everyone has a great day.

June hope that cold went away taking the sore throat with it.

Good late afternoon dear friends. I thank you all for your very kind and loving Birthday greetings, I just gobbled them all up and praised God for giving me such loving, precious friends.

Now I am looking forward to what God has in mind for me as I paddle along the path to reaching 94 years….or not. Life is such an interesting piece of aging…..I look forward to each one of those days. My Dori has chosen a lovely light weight flannel nighty and very comfortable slippers that I will enjoy each day I use them. Dori knows me so well. She is a special blessing for sure. All the lucious home made cupcakes we shared with others were a loving gift for all who got to partake.

Unfortunately, I an still not up to par. Went down to our clinic…..temperature was O.K., breathing was o.k, it was determined I have postnasal drip that causes a lot of throat irritation and tiredness. I gargle with saltwater…it helps…..I can take Robitusin, but Nurse frowns on floanase, still have a tight chest cough, so I am having supper delivered to my apt. tonight. I will just relax and enjoy all the caring benefit we are given here and be grateful.

I love you dear ones…keep well and happy.

Well, I thought I'd get a recipe or two from Shirley as much as she cooks for groups.  But I guess she just doesnt have time to write them down.

CALLIE, you promised and I'm waiting.

I've been alternately cooking and resting all day.  I've dealt with all the stuff I bought yesterday except for a pack of chicken breasts and a big package of hamburger.  I'll take care of that tomorrow and, hopefully get the gumdrops made.  That's all I have planned for tomorrow.  Except maybe for a trip to Barnes & Noble to pick up a gift certificate for Kiran.  And if I do that, I'll stop at the candy store for my sister's candy canes.  Aside from wrapping the Christmas gift to take to church on Sunday, that's my day.

I had lots of smiling faces through my line today but I also had a lady collapse in the lane behind me.  They called 911 and took her to the hospital in an ambulance.  I have not heard how she is doing.  I finished checking out my customer with the cordless scanner from in front of my register.  Everyone was very nice and very supportive of our actions.  And the ambulance was there in no time at all.  Of course, you can see the hospital from our parking lot.  That was a plus!

Now I'm ready to finish up my chores and get to bed a bit early.  It's been quite a day!

June you truly are a breath of fresh air.  You always seemed to take everything in stride and bring a smile to our faces.  Thank you for being our friend.

Janey, you have had a busy and stressful day.  Hope the lady recovered and you get all your chores done.

We went out to the Cracker Barrel for supper tonight with my oldest daughter and her husband.  I had the usual, but couldn't eat but about half of it, seems we all didn't finish our plate.  The women went to check out the shop and Steve and I finish our drink, coffee for me and Steve ice tea and then after paying the bill he and I went outside and sit on the porch and enjoyed the evening and discussed the new overpass they are building.  Incidently someone really screwed up on that thing.  The got the wrong degree of angle on the last section and are having to fabricate it again.  We are wondering who got fired and who is picking up the tab, well we both agreed that the taxpayer ultimately.

I am tired tonight and heading for the bed.

Good Night, God Bless and Sweet Dreams

Jane, I did think of what type recipes you might want to pass on but wasn't sure anything I fix would work out.  Are they interested in big meals or more snack type food?  I used to make peanutbutter/rice krispy candy that was nourishing & not too expensive to fix, and the big kids love it as much as the little ones.  Haven't fixed it for quite a while.

Mostly these days everyone wants meals of meat & potatoes or turkey noodles or even chicken breast fixed like pheasant under glass.  Those meals, I thought, probably would not be for casual evenings.  I use a lot of herbs & spices when cooking and always check the chart to see what goes with beef, pork or chicken.  Maybe chili, but no real recipes, and soups that don't come from recipes..... give us a hint to what type foods you have in mind?  In a way I kind of envy their activities, such fun gatherings, but wears me out to think of all that work.

You are right that this is my busy time, winter coming so must get everything ready for hard freezes.  One more step to having the pool taken care of and son is to come blow out all the hoses tomorrow.  I bought some big tarps to staple inside the storage so wind can't blow rain or snow through the cracks in the wood.  The tarps my husband had put in are all shredded and I moved a lot of tools and yard stuff in there this week & don't want it to rust. Next week we are to be hit with a serious cold front so outside jobs must be
taken care of this week end.  Don't give up on me yet.
:eat: :peepwall:  :tiredtread: :yum:

Oops, you snuck in, Hal... Wish our Cracker Barrel was closer & had better parking, takes an effort to eat there.  I love their big salads but couldn't eat half, carry out box was full and I was stuffed last time.  One time we ordered carry out for maybe 8 adults but were disappointed in the meals, much less food than we expected for the same price as eat in.  Hope you get to feeling better.

Janie,  the activities of the past two days tired me out more than I expected.  I was moving in slow motion all day today!

Thanks Callie, I understand!  I've been there!

Good Morning to all.  I'm up, not quite sure if I'm attem yet.

SHIRLEY, for clarification...Natalie and Clint are feeding young adults who are coming from jobs or graduate classes.  They don't have to but they talked it over and decided that they get more regulars if they know they will get a meal so what I'm looking for are casseroles or crockpots that can either be done ahead and warmed up or don't take a lot of time to throw together.  I want to be able to tell her they're proven by people who know.

My plans for the next few days have altered.  My daughter from Texas will be arriving on Sunday for a funeral on Monday.  This one kind of involves our whole family.  It happens in small towns.  Bob was in my sister's class and his wife grew up 2 doors down the street from me.  His son and my SIL have been best friends since kindergarten and his daughter and my daughter have been friends since kindergarten.  His grandson and my grandson are also friends.  Small town life goes on.  His son is also married to the daughter of one of my good friends.  So we will all be going to the funeral on Monday.  A sad time for this to happen but he is in a better place and no longer suffering.  He has not been well for some time.

Our temps got to the low 20s over night and will only make it to the high 30s today.  I think winter is upon us!  I hope everyfriend has a lovely day and I hope we hear from Joan today.

Good morning everyone...

No rain nor snow that was called for fell.....but they are still calling for it today.
Yesterday went better than expected and no appointments until the 5th with the cardio Dr. Today is laundry and maybe baking we shall see.

Joy, thank you for both of those recipes, have copied them both down.

Jane, I am sorry for the loss of your friend, just know that yes, he is in a better place now.

Hal, we find we can not eat all they give you in restaurant even when we order from the senior menu. That is why we like the buffet, you can take just what you want.

June, hope you feel better today, gargling with warm salt and water was one of the remedies we did at home and still do now. Another one is if we have a cough take Buckleys mixture. Tastes like you bite into a pine tree but it stops the cough and clears the air ways.

Shirley, you tired me out just reading all that you did!! Way to go for your sister in law, sounds like a remarkable woman .

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy like you said I am worn out from reading what all everyone did.  I did get up a little early to put out the recycle can and put the coffee on and brought the paper in and gave my old pup her morning pet.  She wants and expects it and will wart me till she gets it.

Amy I used to use Fishermans Friend drops, they worked great but now they are either making them stronger or my taste buds have changed and they are so strong I cant stand them.

Nothing much on tap here today.  Will watch the TCU/OU game, go TCU...........ought to be a good one.  Callie is worn out so she shouldn't be any help to OU...hehehehehe.

I see Sun's avatar on the side this morning, wonder how she is doing.  I hope her hands got better.  Hopefully she will post a "howdy" one of these days. Same with Joanie, I wish we would hear something from someone on how she is doing.  Miss her.

Everyone have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will have a cloudy day today and only get into the mid-60's.  I did stay home all day yesterday so nothing much to write about.  Today my throat feels almost back to normal.  I am not sure yet whether I will attend a meeting this morning or not as will have to decide when the time comes.

Today is a big college football game as this afternoon it is the Championship game in the Southeastern Conference and Georgia plays Auburn.  This evening Clemson plays Miami in the Atlanta Coast Conference Championship game.  So I plan on watching quite a bit of football this afternoon and evening.  This is the last week of the regular season and then Bowl bids will go out and it will be decided what four teams will play for the National Championship in college football.

Shirley, it sounds like you did well in your "wellness checkup".  There is apparently a standard test that is applied as have had the same test when I have gotten a physical.  It sounds like your Sister-in-Law is doing amazing well with her knee replacement.  Based on seeing my wife go through it and the recovery I am shocked that she is getting around without her walker. Glad your daughter is doing well and was released by the doctor with some advice to ease her mind on the panic attacks.  No wonder her kids love to have her come if she works like a maid.  It sounds like she might take after her mother!  :) I loved those little emotion cons you used especially the one on the treadmill.

Amy, glad you missed the rain and snow.  I have never heard of the Buckleys mixture.

Hal, hope you enjoyed your evening out dining.  Isn't it nice to have the house all cleaned up at once.  We always enjoy it after the cleaning lady leaves.  Pat had here clean out the refrigerator yesterday and tries to space out that type of special cleaning projects over a period of time.  Does your Cracker Barrel have all of those rocking chairs on their front porch that I have seen at other Cracker Barrels?  Too bad about the error in the plans for the overpass.  There would be more than one person responsible for the error as the engineer who designed it would have had his work checked by another engineer.  However, no one is perfect and mistakes do happen.

June, you are indeed blessed with your children and their spouses.  Sorry you are not feeling up to par and hope today finds you at least closer to par than yesterday.  You certainly live in a fine place.  Hope you enjoyed a good supper that was sent up to you.

Jane, it sounds like a lot of excitement near you yesterday at Walmart.  You certainly had a full day.

Hal, it would be nice to hear a word from Sun.  Maybe she could get her daughter to do a short posting for her as she has many friends here.  I also hope each day to see some word from or about Joan.

Good morning everyone. Has a busy day yesterday and ir was late when I decided to turn this machine on. Talked to my daughter and she is home already she sounded good but was tired, mostly from the 3 hour ride home. Talked to my grandson last night and he asked if he could take this PC home so he could spend more time working on it. I said yes. Do not know when he will come for it so I will be without one for a few days of longer. There are 4 computers in the library and only 1 works but does not have access to the web anymore, a couple play games on it and that is all. They all worked when I moved here but no longer and this company is so cheap they will not fix them, might as well take them away. Guess it makes an impression on proseptic renters.

JUNE  thank you, from your lips to God's ears, I pray candcer does not return to my daughter. I just wish I could be there with her. I cam picture your grandson in his uniform going into your building and everyone woindering why he was there and if anyone was in trouble. Hope you feel better today.

JENNY  thank  you. I can only think that I shouild be there to help out but unfortunately I cannot even help myself these days.

JANE  thank you. I am one of those that worry about every thing and I will worry about her and praying that monster cancer never returns to her.

CALLIE  thanks, I did not know about the cancer till I talked to her after the surgery. Glad you had such a great day with your DIL.

JOY  I will have to look for that recipe forum. Lately the SS is the only place I come. No enjoyment on this PC.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page. Love your graphic and I do miss creating with PSP. My grandson said he might have to get a new harddrive and that will have Windows 10. I still have W.7pro on this thing, my 7home he said he could partition a new hard drive and install my copy. Good joke, thanks.

AMY  thank you. My daughter knows me so well she never said anything about cancer till it was out. She always faced things as they come and never complained about anything.

JOY  thank you. This is a very caring group and I appreciate everyone here even if I never say much about how I feel.

MARY ANN  I was 33 when I had my hysterectomy. Doctor told me after I had indetermionate cells that were on the verge of cancer. My MIL died from breast cancer. They put a box  on the table in the lobby for Christmas cards and that iw where we put ours to those here we give cards to. Some will only put 1 card on the bulletin board near the elevator on the main floor.

LARRY  I dread the thought of having to install everything  after my grandson gets finished with this lemon. Living in New England all my life if I did not know those answers I would have been DUMB. Thanks. My Skype is no longer working and would love to see how she looks, would make me feel better.

SHIRLEY  thanks, I will pass your message to my daughter. She should have time to paint for a couple of weeks.

HAL  no trouble balancing your checkbook this time? Great.

Good Saturday morning !   Pretty sunshine, but only in the low 40's.   Was in the low 30's when I first go up,

I am going to get my hair cut today.  HOORAY !  I look like a shaggy dog.  We only have 1 hairdresser who only comes 1 day a week, and with so many new people,  she is really busy.  It is so difficult to get an appointment.  So many keep a standing weekly appointment, so you just have to watch for a empty space in between all the regulars.  I know it will really make me feel better.  Nothing like getting your hair to feel better. I know most of the ladies will agree with me.

Gloria, the place where you live sounds so much like where I live.  We have had 7 o 8 managers since I moved here in 2007,  So, that kind of tells you something.  We had a man over a year ago and he only stayed less than a year.  He found a better job closer to his home.  He was the best one we ever have had.  Everybody was so sorry to see him leave.

Gloria, I always enjoy reading your messages.  I can kind of relate to the same kind of problems you have.   Hope your grandson can get your computer straightened out,

My best wishes for a complete recovery for your daughter. I am sure it is hard for you not to be able to be with her.  She sounds like a strong gal, tho.  Prayers do work !!!   I am like you.....  I love reading everyone's " stories", and appreciate all the time spent by you all, even tho I don't always make any comments.  Sometimes, I just don't feel much like "talking"

I need to get moving this morning.  Have been "playing" around here for too long.  Getting tired of sitting and need to move around.

Good Morning, Larry.  Glad that your throat is feeling better.  Enjoy your football games this afternoon.

Hope all the friends here will have a great Saturday.

Joy

Football all day long, isn't that right, Callie?  Did everyone watch the GIRL win a Dr. Pepper chance for tossing a ball into a giant can?  She won the $100,000 prize to go towards scholarship.  Better than a touchdown!

We are going out early tonight to beat the crowd.  We will pick up our friend, Pat, and treat her to a favorite Pizza place.  It is really great pizza.

Callie:  We will be in Denver on the 16th. - it looks like a change in the weather.

A quiet day here, I spent some time making pot holders with scraps of fabric. Too much time loading two library books on my reader.  They changed the entire way of downloading and one has to be careful not to "buy" the book.  It is a library, - taxes pay for it - so I pounded out a letter to the library to show my intent is to not buy a library book.

Don looked up something on You Tube and found that there is a movie of one grandson playing the trumpet in high school.  It is great.  Now, he works full time and in school so he doesn't have much time to practice - probably not at all.

Another day passing so quickly.  No wonder I can never get all my planned tasks taken care of.

We went to lunch with Dr. Dave’s Family to celebrate my birthday.  They were headed to Colorado Springs afterwards to a birthday party for a friend of Kate’s at The Great Wolf Lodge.  It is a big water park with a hotel.  4 girls and families were spending the night and 4 more will join in tomorrow for the official party.  We are keeping their Doggie Lola.

LARRY, Bob is watching the GA / Auburn Game also but he is pulling for Auburn.  It appears GA will be the inner.

GLORIA, happy to read Regina is home.  I am sure she is tired as  I sure would not envy her that 3 hour drive home after what she has been through.  I hope she continues to feel stronger and stronger.

CAROL, I sure hope the weather will cooperate for your drive home on the 16th.  We are to get a storm this week that may bring some moisture, but then they say it is to warm up again right away.  We need to be in Laramie a week from today for a memorial service, but if the weather is bad we for sure will not go as you know how terrible the roads can be up that way.

JOY, I agree with you completely.....I dread going to get my hair cut but it makes me feel like a new person!

SHIRLEY, from what you have told us about how well your SIL is doing she deserves to be called SUPERWOMAN!  I hope she continues to do as well as she is during her PT for that knee replacement.  Maybe she won’t even need PT!  Good to hear your daughter is doing well also.  She sounds like you...drove herself to the doctor to be told she can now drive! 😻

JUNE, I smiled when you told about your nice soft gown and comfy slippers that Dori chose for you....she is always so thoughtful and would know just what you would enjoy and make you happy.

Thank you, BUBBLE, for the nice new SShoppe for us to enjoy.

Sure wish we would hear from Joan.  I have seen a few posts in Face Book by Joe, her son, but he has not mentioned Joan.

HAL, we had a meal at Texas Roadhouse last night.  I always think of you when we go there.  We do not have a Cracker Barrel close to us here in Colorado, but did when we had a place in Arizona.  Anyway, it seemed that the meal size fluctuated quite a bit the few times we have eaten at Cracker Barrel.....at times it seems like way too much and yet we have had it come and be very sparse.  I often wonder if it has to do with the time of the day and how busy they are or have been.  We always enjoyed sitting and chatting in the rockers.

JANE, I have been thinking about a recipe that I might share with your for your granddaughter, but so far nothing has come to mind.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

JENNY and you too, Carol, you must have a recipe to share with me for my granddaughter.  Dont you want Colorado to be represented?

And I bet Hal's wife has one she could share.  With that big family that gathers at the drop of a hat, there has to be a favorite recipe.

Another do nothing day for me. Still in my nightgown. I'm getting better though. Salt water, gargling truly is an old time GOOD healer. Takes down the swelling and chases away the pain. I think I will stay at home yet tomorrow. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. The Devil is welcome to a good strong dose of it though. Gloria, I pray that our beloved Regina will never have to face this cancer again. The doctor seemed confident that is was all gone, and I think Drs. are pretty careful before changing a diagnosis of "healed" I feel very sure your daughter is safe in God's care. I'm sorry you both had to go the fear and worry though. Hal, you though seem to be on the mend....finally. That makes me very happy. Joy, I trim my own hair, and noticed the right side was about a quarter inch longer that the left, so gave it a quick snip. My haircuts are sort of an on going thing...something looks wrong. so off it goes. I ended up cutting Ed's hair and the boys also, as long they lived at home. I think my Dan trims his own hair now. He is a slight curl so it would be easy to handle. Larry, they sent so much supper home with me last evening, I had the second portion for lunch today. I am ready to fix something light for tonight and then off to an early bed. I thank you all for your good thoughts. I know just sharing our problems cuts them in half, as sharing our joys, doubles. them. I love you my people.

Thank you, Hal.  It looked as if both teams had practiced Pass Defense; unfortunately for the opponents, it's impossible to tell what Baker Mayfield is going to do next..  Also looked as if there's been a few lessons in Sportsmanship.  'Bout time, I think!

Janie,  recipes were sent late this afternoon.   They're ones I'd shared with Misses Ellen and Emily when they moved into their first apartments.  So they're "family tested and approved".

I put lighted greenery and candles on the mantle and set up the Nativity scene while I watched the football game. Had done the eating area and guest bathroom yesterday.  Other than putting two miniature trees and a couple of Christmas Village buildings on a long cabinet in the living room, I'm done!
There was a good article in this morning's paper about "minimalized decorating".  I feel as if I've been "given permission" to cut way back (which I had decided to do, anyway )

The pre-lit, battery operated timers on the outside garland and small tree are working perfectly.  Wish these had been available years ago.  Whoever designed this unit didn't think about the really impossible difficulty of dragging hoses or cords across the driveway and down the length of the garage to get from the front yard to the outside faucet and plug for that area.   :idiot2:

Tomorrow will be a busy day.   Church service will be The Hanging Of The Greens, which is always a lovely service.  Then a group of 20 will have pizza at the church before going to the matinee of a local theater production of "Forever Plaid"  The church music director is music director for the production.

I hope Everyfriend has had an Enjoyable Day and will sleep well with pleasant dreams.

I don't suppose any one here are currently what they call snow birds ? like travel a big part of the time,go places and park in the bad weather.
but they say if you live with someone long enough  you get just like them, Nancy is a natural born worrier, I am beginning to do the same. we are thinking about getting a class a motor home and doing that. now I am thinking how to get enough meds on hand to do that. I will have to see if I can go to any V A Hospital and get them , as they are prescribed by V A ? Have a great day.

likely go out to lunch look forward to having a quiet afternoon and evening.

I’ve read the messages since yesterday and with this problem with the Internet I will not post any individual messages this morning as posting from my phone isn?t very easy with the browser I am using.

Good morning everyone, I am wondering if my grandson will come and pick up my PC today. As bad as it is I will miss getting in here for several days. Just want to make sure you all know I am OK and have not left my favorite place.
Talked to my daughter yesterday and she sounded great, more like herself. Good neighbors where she lives, a few brought meals for them, enough for several days. Not many there and they are not close to each other either. They can see the house of the closest one across a valley. None close enough to look at what they are doing. When we had our house neighbor used to look into the kitchen window from his porch. One time my daughter was standing on a chair and I was pinning up the hem of a dress she looked up and saw him looking in and she waved and the jerk waved back.

JOY  know how you feel about getting a hair cut. My DIL came and cut mine a couple of weeks ago and it sure is easier to handle now. I was getting to look like a halloween witch. This manager has been here for almost 4 years and she is only the second one here. This building is only 11 years old.

JENNY  yesterday my daughter said she had one spot that hurt a little but not bad. She is not taking any of the pain pills they gave her either. She is another like Shirley and does not like meds. I had been meaning to ask you if you checked out Joe on FB but see now that he has said nothing about her. I know I miss her a lot and know we all do. It just is not the same without her.

JANE  about the only thing I made that might be4 called a casserole was lasagna and folowed the recie on the box of pasta but used my own sauce. I really dislike all the ones in the jars.

JUNE  my Mom had me gargle with warm water with salt and vinegar. Vinegar is great for killing germs.  Might not taste great. Do you have any honey? a spoonful in your mouth and just let it trikle down, don't just swallow it all at once. My daughter has to go back to the doctor in 3 weeks to get checked out. They have plans on going to San Diego for Christmas to see their sons and friends.

CALLIE  the CNS I have on Fridays wanted to put my tree up Friday but I would not let her. I really have no room for it and if I decide to put it up is will be a few days before Christmas and it will come down right after, too.

AMY  my SIL has never been one to do any household things but yesterday he did the laundry and hung it out, brought it in and my daughter sat and folded every thing. He even did the dishes. He is always good to her and this proves he saw what she did.

LLOYD  like Nancy I worry about every one and every thing. Does no good and cannot change anything.

LARRY  no internet problems here but every Saturday cable acts up.  I so dislike Cox and complaining to them does no good at all.

HAL  getting colder here now but the sun is shining.

I was up at my usual time and tended to the doggies.  While they were waiting out their pills, I got ready for church and after they ate, I left.

I took my notes along to church to solicit more recipes for Natalie and I obtained several promises, a few maybes and one, "I haven't cooked for ten years but I'll ask my husband".

Cindy will be arriving around 4 so I'm going to try to finish the gumdrops before she gets here.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Phewwww....shopping is done and so am I! Hubby and one dog are napping, other dog is flat out on the floor. Have all the Christmas gifts done..even one for hubby though he doesn't know it. City was busy but manageable and Costco opened a bit early so I managed to be in and out in 1/2 hour. Yes, I flew from one end to the other but got everything I needed. Now comes the fun part of putting it all away. Just having my cup of tea then back to work.

Hal, I hope you don't mind me wrapping it in the same paper as last year?  :2funny:
Forgot to say, I love Andre Rieu...thank you for sharing.

MaryAnn, I ear at Friendly's a lot, and they have tuna melt.

FRiday, I went to Homemakers for the 2nd time this year, and everyone was welcoming me back. I have not signed up for any classes yet. They are going to teach potatoes pancakes next week, I might go to that class.

Good to see you, Joan, sorry you aren't doing well.  Maybe Christmas will cheer you up and with the joy, you will heal better.

June, sorry this is the 3rd day of blahs for you.... Maybe singing some Christmas carols will turn things around & put a song in your heart again.  My mother always said "when things weren't good, not bad, just blah....  find someone that needs cheering up and do what it takes to make them happy and you forget about your own blahs... ". Hey, heard that from the time I was maybe 4 or 5 ...often enough it became a habit.  You are such an inspiration I'll bet it pains everyone when you are not up to par.

Gloris de.... hope you will come back & tell about the potato pancakes.  My mother used to make them a lot & I loved them.... been so long.... As many times as I tried to come up with her recipe, never got it right.   I'm interested in the type shots you get for low blood count. My family has a history of a type anemia that only the iron plus B-12 shot will snap us out. I am hoping a tad low is what caused the low oxygen level in CO.  Dr. appointment to find out the 19th, but doubt if it's low enough for shots.

Hal, I keep playing Oh Holy Night in the background...5th or 6th time.  Thanks for the link.

Amy, I love to buy Christmas presents but have given up picking out for even the little ones, they all have too much and I hate to have gifts wasted....  I've given money the last few years on Thanksgiving and tell everyone to "pick out what they want & let me know at the Christmas party what I got them"...... they usually tell me they haven't had time to shop, so not working.

Gloria, hope your gr-son gets your computer working fast & Skype as well.... know how much it means to you to see Regina.

Today is my mother's birthday, yesterday was Cas' mother's so I called his brother to offer sympathy, I knew he would be thinking about her all day.   Another busy day tomorrow, last of the warm days & much to finish up outside.  I'd like to put up a few decorations, maybe just some strings of lights hanging from the porch light.  What goes up must come down & I am being lazy this year.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Beautiful Sunday here in Colorado.

Thank you, JOAN, for the birthday wishes.  It is so good to see your post, but we are all extremely sad that you are not doing well at all.  My continued positive thoughts and prayer asking for you to feel much better very soon.  Love and hugs to you.

JUNE, I am sad to read that you are still not feeling well.  I hope tomorrow is a much better day for you.

GLORIA de, enjoy the potato pancakes.

JANE, I am truly trying to think of some recipe that I could share.  I am not really one to follow a recipe, rather I just add a bit of this and that, but I am thinking and will try to have something soon.

GLORIA, thank you for the updates from Regina.  Happy to read the neighbors have shown kindness by sharing meals.

The Super Moon is indeed QUITE SUPER tonight.  I hope EVERYFRIEND has a chance to see it.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jane:  I have most of my recipes at home in Highlands Ranch - I sure will take a look tomorrow but my old tried and true stuff is at home.

Jenny:  You and Bob celebrate more birthdays and anniversaries and puppy sittings than anyone we know.  Glad you are doing so well.  Yes, the weather is changing here- you would have just loved the full moon coming over the Tucson mountains - amazing.  We have flights booked - it is not the best as we stop in Salt Lake going and somewhere else returning and getting in around midnight.  Don't ask me how this happened - it is the wrong time of the year to fly to the ski country and into the desert getaway.

Joan:  It is so nice to see you reporting for duty.  we all want you to feel better soon.

June:   Ditto to you on recovering and feeling better as well.    Take care.

At dusk, I looked out the front window and spotted a mature Javelina walking down the middle of this side street.  Not a care in the world and some cars barely missed it.

Hal:  Do you have Javelinas in Texas?  I thought I remembered hearing that name when we lived in Plano.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I'm up with the doggies.  They've been out and had their pills.  Now we're waiting.

My daughter is still sleeping and we're trying to be quiet.  We'll be leaving for the funeral around 9:30 and she had a rough day yesterday. Today won't be easy for any of us.

Jenny and Carol, thanks for "thinking" about the recipes.  The book is beginning to take shape and I think it might turn out to be one of her favorite gifts.

The temp her right now is 24º and we are having one of those "freezing fogs" where everything it touches has a sheet of ice on it.  I hope it clears with daylight.  I wish you all happy days better health and lots of love.

Good morning everyone.

Going to be another great day!! Have a trip to the dump today, taking ashes plus the garbage away. Need to do little jobs around here as we will be away tomorrow.

Shirley, I loved buying for the little ones ,the frilly dresses and wee suits for them but now they are all grown up. Gift cards fit, they are in the right colour and they can buy what they want or need. I don't have to return because of wrong size etc.

June, hope today finds you feeling better.

Lloyd, that you for the recipe, I will try that one also.

Jane, our temp is 32° now......thinking of you on this difficult day..

I had better get a move on.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a mixed day of sun and partly cloudy with it getting up into the high 60's.  This is the morning I have been looking forward to as by noon I should have clear vision again, although my eye will be dilated for a couple of days.  My son is going to go with me this morning.  My appointment is for 9:25 so won't have to wait all morning.  I will spend the rest of the day after I get home taking it easy.

We so enjoyed watching the 50th anniversary Carol Burnett show last evening.  It was two hours long so I watched the second hour from the comfort of my bed.  That show and Frazier and Cheers are probably the top three shows that I have enjoyed.  Of course, I realize I probably have forgotten about some other great shows I have watched over the years.

Hal, glad to see you were feeling up to going to Church yesterday.

Gloria, I appreciate you letting us know you will be without a computer for several days.  It sounds like your daughter and SIL moved into a great area with wonderful people as neighbors.  At least when your mother had you gargle with the salt and vinegar you could spit it out.  I don't think I ever heard of that combination but it sounds like a good solution to use.  Pat had the housekeeper help her get the poinsettia plants put in front of the fireplace but won't do any other decorating for awhile and she also liked to have the decorations put away by New Years Day.

Jane, I hope you got the gumdrops finished.  Pat is starting to use the Instant Pot she got last week.  We cooked some chicken thighs that were thawed and they came out so well that she then cooked some frozen chicken breasts.  She is excited that frozen meat can be cooked as sometimes she forgets to get something out of the freezer in time for the evening meal and that shouldn't be a problem in the future with the pressure cooking.  I think she will get a lot of use out of this appliance.  She has been watching a lot of videos and reading about its use.  She found out it is a smart appliance that can be started using blue tooth from a distant place.  We don't plan on using this feature.  Hope you don't have to deal with icy roads as you attend the funeral this morning.

Amy, they have a lot of very nice things at Costco.  Did you do all of your Christmas shopping there?  It is a relief to have the Christmas shopping completed.  I think we are about finished, at least I hope so as the credit card needs a chance to cool down.  :)

Joan, so good to see your posting.  So sorry that you are not doing very well.  You know we are all praying for you and keeping you in our thoughts.

deAngel, I found my internet problem wasn't Comcast but a glitch in my computer that a reboot cured.  Of course I fussed around with the problem for most of the morning.  Glad you were able to go to the Homemakers group.

June, hope you don't have a fourth day of the blahs and are feeling more like yourself today.

Shirley, isn't it interesting that some of the sayings and doings of our folks when we were young never leave us.  Your mother had a good plan to deal with the blahs.  I am taking the Vitamin B Complex tablets daily and the GP has ordered blood tests right before my next appointment to determine whether I need the B-12 shots or not.  I sure hope I don't.  I think I have been getting a lot of benefit from the oxygen I am using with my CPAP nightly as haven't awoken tired since I started using it and seem to be generally feeling better over all.

Jenny, it sounds like you cook the same way that Pat does as she usually modifies recipes.  I tell her that is the way new recipes are created.

Carol, traveling in December can be a task especially around the holidays.  It sounds like the javelina thought it owned the road.  I have never seen one of them.

Good moirning everyone, sun is shining bright today but windy and cold. After such a warm fall we were spoiled and not ready for cold. This is the first time the cold is bothering me and it is not winter yet. Maybe this year I will hibernate and not go out at all. Could be I will have to get myself a very warm jacket, the one I have has kept be warm a couple of years but who knows??

HAL  beautiful version, thanks for the link.

AMY  you sound like my daughter. No matter what store she goes in she knows what she wants and heads there and out ASAP. Once I got into a store I enjoyed looking around.

HOORAY  there was JOAN yesterday. JOAN  you are so missed.

GLORIA de  when I talked to my daughter yesterday she sounded great. She even went outside and walked around near their house for a bit.

JOAN  we all miss you big time. Sorry you are not doing so hot but know you are fighting to get better and home again.

JUNE  I feel like you today. If my CNA was not coming I would stay in nightie and robe all day.

SHIRLEY   my little great grandson has so many toys he cannot play with all of the. My son's living room is full of them, too. I was hoping my grson would pick up my PC over the week end but they might have gone to pick out a Christmas tree. I do miss Skype especially now, would like to see how R is looking.

LARRY  vinegar is great for many things. I know some who will drink a shot of cider vinegar every night ans say it helps a lot. I worked with one man who after all the pickles were out of a jar he would keep it and drink some of it every night. That would taste better with the spices in it.

Carrol, yep we sure do have Javalina.  There was no season on them for many years, but some years back they set one.  Runs kinda along with deer season.

Gloria, suggestion to you on Skype.  Go to your "control Panel" and open your "programs and features" then highlight "skype" and remove it.  then go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHpfeK1W-p0]https://www.skype.com/en/get-skype/[url] and download it again, it should come back with all your contacts and hopefully will work again.  It more than likely has become corrupt somehow or another.

Joanie, here is a link that might cheer you up, three hours of Christmas music: [url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHpfeK1W-p0] and download it again, it should come back with all your contacts and hopefully will work again.  It more than likely has become corrupt somehow or another.

Shirley, potato cakes, my Mother's recipe as best as I can remember it.  Left over mashed potato's, add milk, then flour to thicken and a tbsp or two of baking power.  Please note there are no real measurements, just play it by ear.  But they are good.  I used to make them when the girls lived at home.  But wife is not crazy about them, she is weird.

We are getting ready for our big chill, due tomorrow morning.  We took pup in for her Christmas grooming and believe me when I say she wasn't a happy camper.  Bless her heart the older she gets the least she likes grooming, she was shaking like a leaf.  But wife said she greets everyone at the vet's office with a smile and tail wagging.

Hope everyone has a great day.

HAL. depending on how many mashed potatoes you had left over, my grandmother and my mother both broke an egg or two in the potato pancakes.  I do too.  I'm not one to break tradition.

Tisie….I love you girl, and I have saved what your Mother said about the "blahs". Thanks dear friend.

Hal, my husband thought I was weird too, because I didn't like fried calves brains. I made them twice for him, and said, "no more". It nauseated me.

I love you people…..my lunch is growing cold, but I have no appetite anyway, but I will eat it.

My dinner has just been delivered. I am still full from lunch, so I will probably put most of it in the freezer. I'm better. Still feel very tired, but cough has improved. Things that are minor when we are young seem to be much slower in healing as we age. I'm sure that is a normal reaction, but I don't like it. I want to be "up and at'em, full speed ahead. out there and liven' it up. At the same time, I thank God that I am still here with you all, and interested is all of YOU ! I love you, and thank God we are still together. Amen.

Well been a bad day for my son-in-law.  Got a call from his son's family in Houston and his son had a heart attack.  They took him, SIL Son into operating room for a triple bypass and SIL and daughter gathered up their things for a fast trip to Houston from San Antonio, this is the daughter that lives very close to us.  She called later and ask that we check her house for packages that were coming, we did and they did, got them safely secured.  Good news though.  He only needed a double (if you can call that good) and he came through the operation with flying colors and expected to make complete recovery, no visible heart damage.  Thank you God,

Off to bed, up early in the morning.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Sorry about your son-in-law's son, Hal.... you are right about 2 better than 3 by-passes..... the big pain is having those ribs cracked & at that point fixing 1 is as painful as 5!  Best wishes to him, important part is no damage to the heart muscle!

I am too tired to think tonight, had another day of wrapping up the "winterizing" ... son was over & blew out water in the hoses, blew out the pool pipes after I got the water down below them yesterday.  Surprising how much water stays in those pipes after draining down, & in the hoses.  Now time to start on the house.  Got to get rid of some stuff before the dusting & getting out decorations.  Will take care of all that tomorrow, time to get to bed.  The wind has been terrible today & shifting around.  Interesting to watch as it shifts... the leaves will sail down the street from one direction & the watch as it switches around.  Finally winter is here and I am ready!  Sweet dreams to all.

Hal, prayers for your sil for a speedy recovery .

Larry, I was in and out in less than 1/2 hour Costco wasn't that busy first thing in the morning. I did buy some gifts there but not many. Stocked up on paper produce, produce and vitamins.

Gloria, I don't leave hubby too long so I don't dally long in a store. Hope you get your computer working to where you want it. Your daughter is going to have a hard time doing very little for a while. Great husband she has!!!

Better move it.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My daughter leaves today for home in Texas.  I'm going to miss her!  I have to work this morning so won't even be around to see her off!

I hope everyfriend's day is as special as all of you are!

Bad night.  Woke a little after 3 and didn't get back to sleep.  I am out of water pills, I miscounted them and only had one for yesterday and suffered the consequences.  I see the doctor at 820 so should get my refill (there was none on last script).

Tissie I thought we would have some of your weather when I got up, but it is calm and doesn't feel that cold.  Suspect that the front is just North of us and will come zooming in about the time I leave for my appointment.  It was suppose to be light rain, windy and temp dropping down into the 50's today and 40's tomorrow.

Tissie,, I haven't talked to Steve yet but I was wondering if they did crack his son's ribs.  New procedure they don't do that.  And if you got to have to have heart surgery I guess Houston is where you want to be.  It is suppose to be the primer heart surgery capital.

Well coffee smells done, so I am going to go get a cup before I get in the bathroom.

( GOD TAKES GOOD CARE ) oh yes we are still having warm spring like weather so far and even had a little rain yesterday. but looks like it ended last night is currently 28 º and only supposed to get to 46 º today. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone, rain in the forecast again for later today. After we broke a record for the warmest Novenber here on record now the rains will be back. Rain for Friday night/Saturday might turn to snow.
The church they found there is a small one with caring people. Yesterday one of the parishioners called them for SIL to meet them at the road that leads to the ranch, he drove down there and they had brought them 4 meals, even some desserts. Never would have been done in San Diego.

HAL  I have already deleted Skype from this machine, grandson told me to try from Facebook but did no good so will try your way later. Thanks. I am beginning to wonder if it is me that keeps messing up and not the PC. Your potato cakes are what my Mom used top do and I have done it, too, but added an egg.. Love them. At times I would add some sharp Cheddar cheese just for a difference.

JUNE  don't blame you, I would not like brains either. I remember my parents liking blood pudding, just the thought turned me off.

HAL  we really feel it when something happens to our children. Like my daughter not telling me about the cancer till the operation was over. The doctor said they got every thing so I pray he is right and it does not return. I feel worse that I cannot be there with her. My SIL has been doing housework and laundry and washing dishes and watching over her. Things he has never done in 43 years of their marriage.

SHIRLEY  for the first time I am not looking forward to cold weather. Maybe once I see the beauty of snow I will get the old love of winter return, hope so.

AMY  my SIL has always been good to my daughter but what he is doing now is something I never expected.

JANE  we always look forward to a child coming for a visit but so sad when they leave for home again.

LLOYD  God sure has taken care of you.

Hi Everyone.  We have an overcast morning but will get into the mid-70's this afternoon.  My main activity today will be to go for the second day checkup on the cataract surgery at 1:20 this afternoon.  I was to remove the eye guard when I awoke this morning.  On my way home I plan on stopping at Costco to return this second Chromebook.  It had worked fine for 3 or 4 days but last evening it froze about 7 times and I decided I didn't need that hassle in my life.  So I guess it will be back to a regular laptop rather than a Chromebook.  Yesterday everything went well and there has been no pain or problem.

Gloria, neither Pat nor I enjoy just looking around in a store.  I want to find what I have gone after and get out of the store as fast as possible. Of course, Pat doesn't have that problem when it comes to online shopping as I think she really enjoys that since it can be done from her easy chair.  Glad your daughter is doing so well.  Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the Skype program? (I see that Hal has made the same suggestion.)   I know that vinegar has many useful purposes and drinking it is one of them.  My granddaughter has been drinking some with honey three or four times a day to try to help lose weight.

Hal, I didn't see your suggestion to Gloria before I wrote the same thing to her.  I hope your wife doesn't read your postings or I think you will be in trouble called her weird.  You are a braver man than I.  :)  It sounds like your dog was happy with the way she was before the grooming.  Sorry about the SIL's son having the heart attack but sure good to read there was no heart damage.  It sounds like he should have a complete recovery.

Shirley, it sounds like your winterizing procedures are about done and sure that was a relief.

Amy, hope the cardio appointment goes well.  Glad you don't have to deal with slick roads to get there.  I like to get to Costco when they open as well.  Isn't it shocking how fast the bill at Costco goes up.

Jane, it sure seems like a short visit by your daughter but sure you had an enjoyable time while she was with you.  Hope your day at work goes well.

Hal, I haven't heard of the new heart bypass surgery where they don't have to crack the ribs.  That would certainly make recovery much quicker and easier.

Lloyd, nice to read that your stents are still doing what they are designed to do.  I have had six stents put in over the years and unfortunately they have all closed up now.

Gloria, just using Skype would not be a reason that it stopped working unless you had deleted a needed file or something and know you wouldn't have done that.  The idea of blood pudding also is very unappealing to me or kidney pie.  I can relate to your SIL in that I had never had to do the cooking until this last year when Pat just wasn't up to doing so.  I can also take care of the washing of clothes and dishes.

Jane, I think we all have a tendency to follow traditions that we grew up with and then pass them on to our children.  I guess it is a part of our heritage.  I don't remember my mother ever making potato pancakes and Pat has never made them.

June, I am with you with regard to eating calves or any animals brains or other organ parts.  I don't like the taste or smell of fried liver either.  Glad to see your cough had improved yesterday.  Rest can do wonders for us as we let our bodies fight off colds and other ailments.  I am very glad you are still with us also.

Good morning.  I just finished writing a long message and lost it.  And, I just don't know what I did.  That just frustrates me so much.

So, for now, I will just say Hello to all the friends and hope you all will have a nice day.  For the ones that aren't feeling well,  I hope that today will be a lot better day for you.

It is kind of a dreary day here.  A good day to stay in and read and then eventually a nap will happen.

Wishing all of you a nice day.  Will try to get back later.

Hal, I'm sorry to hear about your SIL's son's heart attack and it sounds as if he is mending OK.  Norm's single bypass was in 1976 and lasted until he died in 2015.

I send very few Christmas cards these days and I've gotten started.  I have a message to put in a few of them, plus pictures in another few of them.  I hope to have them in the mail by the end of the week.

Dot and I will go to a Christmas Tea put on by the Women's Fellowship of our church.  Actually all of the women of the church are members of the Women's Fellowship.  We have a short service first, then refreshments.

It is windy in our area and Lake Michigan has lots of whitecaps, in case you look.

Hal:  Your SIL's son must be very young for his heart problems.  Prayers for a total recovery.

Jenny:  The house was down to 68 here and I am not housecleaning right now - so the heat is on.  What a whiplash change.  And, it colder for you.  Also, barely any snow at Grand Lake - people had better start water restrictions early next year.  One of our sons is getting our house ready for neighbor relatives coming from Texas and Missouri for a funeral - they need a place to stay.  I have beds and a trundle bed and so forth and really, there is no motel or hotel close.  Don and I had treats at Kneader's today - hope you and Bob have tried that place.

Jane: I can tell you one breakfast meal that goes over really well with company.  It is very easy.

Overnight Steel Oatmeal

Place all in a crock pot and set on low when you are ready to go to bed.

4 cups water
1/2 cup half/half or milk
1 cup steel cut oatmeal
dried cranberries and other dried fruits
Spoon in cinnamon to your choice amount
(I stir in a little agave syrup at this point)

Stir and be sure the temperature is set on low.

Serve with more milk, agave syrup (my choice) .

Our relatives who drive out in the morning ask for this breakfast as they climb in their cars for a long distance drive.

If you can wait a couple of weeks, I will check recipes when I get home as I do have a mandarin orange spinach salad with toasted almonds that is OK too.

Been out & about this morning & more errands before night falls....

Hal & Larry, I have a feeling the procedure you hear about without cracking the ribs is the one to replace the aortic valve through the artery. My cardio Dr explained to me "that is for people not expected to live more than a year & too fragile for open heart".  5 years later we have a whole clinic doing the "quicky" replacement of the valve, but don't think that is for by-passes.  5 years ago (time flies) Cleveland Clinic was considered top for valve replacement, the by-passes were done because "Medicare wouldn't pay to do stents whe they are already in & open".  Any diagnosis after this will be the doppler type, my research shows they get the same results as the more invasive heart cath.  Procedures change fast and I hope they find an easier way to replace by the time my kids need help (if they do).

I'd better shut up & hit the road or it will be getting dark before I get home.  Still cold but sun is shining... UGGs feel good & so does a heavy winter coat.  Talk later tonight.  Everyone behave!

We are on edge around here.  Son Mark called last night to update us on the fires in his area.  The winds were terrible and many more fires are burning now as a result.  His golf course was evacuated early this morning and his housing area is still in pre-evacuation status.

CAROL, it really got cold here last night.  Burr. The sun warmed us up some but it is really chilly out there.

HAL, I do hope your SIL’S Son is doing much better this morning after his surgery.

MARY ANN, hope you and Dot enjoyed the service and the Christmas Tea.

LARRY, every time I turn around now I am seeing something advertised about the Instant Pot you and Pat have.  Before, I had never heard about one.

JANE, I am sorry you had to leave for work before it was time for your daughter to leave for home.  It sure was nice that you all were able to get together to pay your respects to your family friend.

SHIRLEY, sounds like you are bundled up good for you outing....

I hope you all have a good rest of your day.

Hal, and my Thanks to God, along with yours. We are saddened to learn of older folks like us having health ailments, but when it comes to the younger folks it seems to hurt even worse. This case turned out to be very encouraging. Thanks be to God.

I have been incarcerated in my room for the third day now. Until they find the reasons behind my minor illness they do do not want to take a chance on spreading it. The one benefit is having three free meals a day delivered to my apartment. I canceled all three today as I have so many leftovers from yesterday and the day before. I had a throat culture done yesterday, and was scheduled for a blood test today, but they didn't show up, an outside concern does that work. And so it goes. I still have plenty of reading material on hand.

Joy, I really hate it when I have written a long point, and then somehow manage to send it off into the long-beyond, never to found again.

Mary Ann, I retired from sending out all greeting cards, except by using a paid card company but now they are unreliable. Gary and Dori include me in family cards and checks. They are so good to me.

time to hit the pillow…I get tired just doing nothing…or perhaps I am just lazy, or old?

I love you people. June

This is a message for Jane:

I bought some of that Almond Bark chocolate and I am planning on making some of those thin mint cookies out of the Ritz crackers and dipping then in the chocolate flavored with peppermint.  I just want to know, does that chocolate stay hard,  once it is hardened up,  I put them in the fridge for a little while, but wondering  if  the chocolate  will get soft when out of the fridge???  I have made them a long time ago and just can't remember what kind of chocolate I used.

They are having a cookie swap here and I can't stand too long at a time to make cut=outs or even the drop cookies, so I thought I would make these mint ones.  They are easy and I can make them sitting down.

Thanks!!

JOY, once the chocolate is st it will stay that way as long as they are not near a heat source or in the sun...just like any other kind of chocolate.  I never thought of mints.  What do you use to flavor them?

I came home to a surprise today!  Santa (in the form of my Texas daughter) and an elf (in the shape of my Lewisburg daughter) bought and set up a new CD player for me.  Mine hasn't worked for about 3 years now and I really missed it.  I've been playing music on the TV channels but it's just not the same as hearing my own collection collection.

Another special day is drawing to an end.  I hope all of you are feeling the love of the season and giving it too.  I wish you all good health, happiness and contentment.

Jane, thanks. I kind of thought that it would.  I guess that kind of chocolate is just about the same as the little discs.   I know if you use plain chocolate chips, they set if you put it in the fridge,  but gets soft when left out.

I just use the peppermint extract.  I know it is about 1/2 tsp.   If you google Faux Thin Mints,  it will give you amounts of the crackers.  I always have to look the amounts up.

Here is link to how to make them....even with a video.   http://allrecipes.com/recipe/10112/thin-mint-crackers/

Here is another one,,,,, a little different.......https://www.averiecooks.com/2012/07/homemade-thin-mints.html

Thanks, again.

Jenny, the Tea today was very nice.  We had a good attendance for the size of our church and the fact that many young women have jobs outside of the home.  Many of the women looked very festive in Christmas clothing.  Our entertainment was six girls playing Christmas songs on their violins.  They come from a family of 10 children, all of whom play the violin, but the boys did not come with their sisters.  The oldest sister is 15 and the youngest six.  After the violinists left, we had our refreshments and one of our church members baked several Red Velvet cakes for the Tea.  Our pieces were very generous so I have an idea there was more cake than really needed.  It was good.

I am watching the Hope College (Holland MI) choirs and their vesper program.  It is a yearly event and is shown on our PBS station.  A faculty member is doing some reading and I can tell by the sleeves of her robe that she has her doctorate.  It is a good program and I have enjoyed it for many years.  Holland is only about 40 miles from here.

We are at the beginning of a cold spell which will probably last for quite a while.  Being early December, it probably is time but last night when I went to bed, the temperature was 60 degrees; that will not be so tonight.  Brrr.

JUNE! I hope you get a good night of rest.  I am sorry to read you are incarcerated in your room.  I do hope you feel much better very soon and you can resume your normal schedule.

MARYANN, the tea sounded delightful and I would have enjoyed hearing the sister violin group play.  I have been watching our local PBS Station each night this week.  They have the best entertainment.

JANE, happy, happy for you getting your new CD player....your elves are very sweet to give you this early Christmas present.

Son Mark and Megan are still in their home, but the truck and car are packed and ready to go at a moments notice if need be.  The neighborhood within 2 blocks of them has been evacuated so I do not understand why they have not been.  There are horse properties all around him and those neighbors have all evacuated.  Still no definite news if the club hose at his golf course has burned or not.  I continue to hold positive thoughts and am saying lots of prayers that they will be safe.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny, the fires are really bad out there in California, for the life of me I cant understand why a little common sense cant be used and keep the underbrush cleaned up.

Well my appointment with my PC doctor went pretty well, I guess, he wants me to see the lung doctor and re-evaluate my COPD.  He would like to change my puffer that I use.  He takes his time and listens to what I have to say.  But he cant turn back time and make me 60.

My wife and I got our SOC pay statement yesterday showing us how our big 2% increase will affect what we get.  HA! mine all went to my Medicare premium and I will take home a mind boggling 3 dollars.  Ditto for my wife, all her increase went to her Medicare premium and take home remains the same.  I now pay more premium than she does.  Guess cant gripe they didn't cut it.  Merry Christmas.

Well going to put me to bed and hopefully sleep most of the night.  Good Night, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Janie, Congratulations on your new record player.  You have some exceptional Elves in your family.  Bless them

The high winds have not stopped  ,started yesterday and all through the night. Dr appointment went well, she is cutting one pill in half with hopes that does the trick. We will take the script in this morning as the drug store will be making up the blister packs soon. I hope to do some baking today .

Jane, what a lovely surprise to come home to.

Jenny, I hope your son and wife are safe from the fires. Can't imagine having to leave ones home at the drop of a hat.

Lloyd, stay away from the machinery if you are dizzy, rest for you today..

Better get a move on it.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning!

Well our temp is 44, believe it or not, "they" say possible snow flurries in the hill country, how bout that.  We are suppose to have lite rain today.  Hope so.

I woke up this morning and tried to roll over and go back to sleep, twisted and turned and finally just got up and have the coffee on and turned up the heat.  Maybe a nap later on.

Not much on tap today.  Have a eye doc appointment tomorrow at 1 and I need to go down and renew my drivers license.
The leafs are rapidly filling my yard from my two big Red Oaks, will be glad to see them all come down and the yard guys get them mulched up.

Some musings:  I have to wonder why a Priest would murder and rape a young lady, a man who supposedly wanted to dedicate his life to helpings others.  Why would a punk think he has a right two swagger after committing a drive by that killed a 10 years child, asleep in her bed.  a more cowardly act could not have been committed by anyone, just think, driving by in the dead of night spraying bullets at a house where people are sleeping.  And the guy who walks up to a church, dressed in black, dressed in costume? Like a child going to play at war? Except he actually kills 26 people who couldn't feel more secure, secure in the house of God.  Are we even suppose to understand? All acts of stupidity, they prove nothing except life can be snuffed out in an instant.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning everyone, cold and rain again today. I don't mind the cold but with the rain, too, it is damp and that I cannot tolerate good. Today we will have no hot water, repairing the hot water tank. The witch bought a cheap unknown brand and it has been nothing but trouble. On top of no hot water they fire department will be here soon to check the alarms. That is loud  but at least this time they let us know it is being done.

HAL  tried that link, put my phone number in and it said message sent with a code, phone never rang and does not have a message thing on it.

LARRY  I have not been in a store for more than 2 years now and I would love to browse in the market and BJ's (like Costco) just to see if there was something new. I know I cannot do it, every time I have an appointment I am worn out for a couple of days, Thanksgiving it took almost a week before I recuperated. Christmas at my son's will be tiring, too. I think I mentioned before every day something else is wrong on this machine. One day Skype worked and the next it wouldn't.

JENNY  I know how it feels to have family in a fire area. My daughter and family had to evacuate their home in San Diego years ago but luckily the hew freeway there were putting in a couple miles up their road stopped the fire from going the rest of the way. Prayers for your son.

JANE  only way I can play disks is on my computer. That is one thing that still works right.

Good Morning Everyone, from
the much cooler and over cast rocky coast of Maine...

Yesterday I had breakfast with Kelly and Kirk..

That is me in the middle  (as if you couldn't have guessed it!)
:coolsmiley:

I  will be going into the hospital in the middle of June
for a colonoscopy !   :crazy2:
They will take me in the day before for
the dreaded "prep"  ....  (Yikes)...

Because I am on coumadin and have afib they want to keep
and eye on me,  as a low vision person who fell and broke
arm a few months ago...   I personally am very pleased
that they are bringing me in early...   Phew....

Hal, congratulations on being able to get a license to drive.
I wish that I could also,  but that is out of the question for me
and my poor vision in one eye.    :tickedoff:

I sound like I am complaining,  but only a little!
I mean who likes  having colonoscopies ?
:uglystupid2:

I wish everyone a nice week.

I had a link here for Lake Michigan but when I clicked on it, I didn't get what I intended, so I deleted it.  Sorry about that and if I can get the right link, I'll put it here.

The link above is for Lake Michigan over the last couple of days.  It shows the lake at various places, not only Grand Haven (link below).  It has been very windy and is to continue until this evening.  Amy mentioned how windy it is in her location, which isn't too far from where I live and from Lake Michigan (not next door, however).

I e-mailed a great-nephew to see how far he is from the CA fires and he said they were not near them.  He just moved and lives north of LA.

Jenny, I have been watching some of the special programs on PBS myself, although most of them I've seen in previous years.  Fund raising time!

Maybe I'll get my SS notice in the mail today.  I'm expecting a $1 increase from what everyone has been saying.  As Jenny said, at least it didn't go down.

Hi Everyone. Our day starts with an overcast sky and our high today is suppose to be 62. The only thing on the calendar for today is our Wednesday night dinner at Church and then Scott and Jennifer will be coming out.  We should get to speak to our great grandchildren this evening.

Yesterday turned out to be a very busy and stressful day.  The morning was busy paying bills, calling a couple of places about the billings and doing other office work.  At 12:50 I left to go for the second day visit to the eye doctor only to find I-20 traffic basically at a standstill and then moving a couple of car lengths and stopping again.  I got very stressed as knew I was going to be late for my appointment.  I called and told them and they said they allow a 15 to 30 minute leeway.  The Georgia Department of Transportation is installing some new signage on the Interstate and they had taken the traffic down to one lane from a four lane road.  This caused the big backup as the cars had to merge to get by the blocked area.  My eye appointment went very well and was told the eye is doing great.  The vision has cleared a lot this morning and hopefully will continue to clear in the next few days.  As I came back from the eye doctors office I stopped and Costco and returned the Chromebook.  I then found a relatively inexpensive HP laptop.  It doesn't have the greatest display but it will work very nicely for what I use it for.  I spend a couple of hours getting it basically set up with only a few more things to do on it.

Shirley, thanks for the info on the heart procedure for valve replacement.  It would be great if they can avoid exploratory caths and save those for stent placement.

Jenny, no wonder you are on pins and needles with Mark's golf course and home in jeopardy.  Those fires are terrible.  I hadn't heard about the Instant Pot before it was mentioned here a few months ago.  However, Pat told me she has had her eye on it for sometime.  Her next project it to make some strawberry jam in it using honey.

June, sorry to read that you are restricted to your apartment.  I sure hope today has found you feeling better.

Joy, those thin  mint cookies sound like something I would really enjoy.  When I was at Costco yesterday I had to stay away from the table where they have the Peppermint/chocolate candy displayed.  It is so good that I probably will get a package of it closer to Christmas.

Hal, Pat hasn't gotten her SS statement of her increase although I know what it is as calculated it.  I also have not gotten a statement of the changes in my retirement from the Federal Government but again know what it will be.  I am just glad there is some increase.  Our minister told us in the Wisdom group that for us to have police protection during the Sunday services  for a year would cost the Church $10,000.  It is against the law here for anyone else to carry a gun into the Church unless they are registered with the Church and I think he said the police department.  They would have to wear some identifying pin or something else so the police responding to a shooter wouldn't come in and shoot the Church member.  Our Administrative Counsel is trying to decide what to do.

Gloria, it sounds like the witch has struck again with the cold water.  I bet you would find many things new is BJ's.  We had one of that chain over near the area where we used to live but never went into it.  Do you ever use an electric cart to get around in a store?

Sandy, that is a nice picture you posted.  I did guess that it was you in the middle.  :) I know the colonoscopy is something we all dread but it is vitally important.  The last one I had wasn't bad at all.  Glad you will be in the hospital so they can keep an eye on you.

Lloyd, I hope your headache is better today and that you can stay in where it is warm.

Amy, I have a small pill that I have to cut in half.  I got a pill splitter that will handle quite a few pills, depending on size, to cut them at once.  I got the idea from Joan as she mentioned having one several years ago.

Jane, nice of your daughters to give you an early Christmas present so you can enjoy your Christmas CDs.

Jenny:  I am thinking about Mark and wife today - may they and their neighborhood be safe.  It seems so late in the year to be dealing with fires.

Sandy:  good for you for getting the colonoscopy.  Best wishes!

We are scheduled to fly home for Christmas (first time flying for the holiday) and it is turning to be more difficult than driving 1,000 miles.  We were concerned about snow on the freeway.  Well, we can only take one little carry-on and I am not going to pay for a suitcase because I think we can do this.  Oh, how flying has change.  We cannot select our own seat - everything will  work out - I just am concerned about Don.  Changing planes in SLC Salt Lake City and weather can be a factor there as well as a pretty bumpy landing (never forgotten landing)

I had You Tube on the t.v. last night and watched all the Christmas programs - the Celtic Women, and the Italian men.  Just the most beautiful music - then, I went to bed at 2:30 AM and got up at 7.  It is OK if I keep on moving.  Worth every minute of lost sleep.

Jenny girl, thank you for you wishes. My blood was drawn today, and my nurse was in to check my vitals, she said as soon as they get the results of the throat culture, I will be released from "Jail". They are super cautious here, too many old people to risk germs floating around. I really do not feel all that perky anyway, so it is just as well. I wish I had a dime for overtime I have sneezed this week, I'd throw a HUGE Bash. Which City is Mark and wife located out here ? I pray God will keep them in His care, and I do feel very confident that they will be fine. We too love your loved ones.

Nurse just came in with my second dose of cough syrup. Had the first two pills of azithromyzin…more to come. Meds make me feel like going to bed. So I will do so. Keep well my dear friends, and I aim to get there too.God is with us..our Healer.

Good evening everyone. well I have put in a hard day in the shop. well morning will tell the story but I think I have got both rear tractor tires fixed finely. so I am seining off for today after I post the recipe for these small 1/2 pies.

I buy the large can of biscuits.  I role them out to about 1/8 " thick. then I take a can of Cherie pie filling and spoon it out to one side of the middle then fold it over making a 1/2 pie.( do not put too much in ) or you wont be able to seal the edges. then I put cooking oil an a big skillet. Nancy set the temp for me to what you use to cook donuts. Finger licking Good.

LLOYD, I had a lady check out yesterday and she had a nice little pile of goodies at the end of her order.  She looked at me and said, "For my sweet tooth!"  I told her I have a friend (YOU) who says he doesn't have a sweet tooth.  He has sweet TEETH.  She said she guesses she does too.
I was really tired when I got home today and I didn't do the short shopping trip that I had planned for this afternoon.  I was afraid I run into darkness on the way home and there's a lot of construction on that road right now.  With the Christmas traffic and the congestion, I didn't want to run the risk of getting caught in that.  I'm finding lately there are more times when I'd rather not drive.  So I don't.

I STILL HAVE A COUPLE THINGS TO FINISH BEFORE i CAN QUIT FOR THE EVENING SO i BETTER GET BACK TO WORK.  Darn I didn't mean for that to be in caps but my typing is so bad these days that I'm not going to do it over.  I wish you God's love and care this night.

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Mark and Megan.  Their area is and will continue to be in a evacuation condition.  The winds had calmed down some over the day but now have increased with vengeance.  Mark’s home is in Sunland, Shadow Hills Community, so he is in the Creek Fire /Sylmar Area.  His work, Angeles National Golf Course continues to be closed to all road traffic.  He heard the fire went right up to the landscaping around the club house but no one knows for positive if there is any severe damage to the building itself.  They know there is damage to the course in several areas and now the fire is raging on the hillside once again right there.  The way the winds are swirling around anything can happen.  Prayers for all of the firefighters/police and families that are effected by this.  It is so sad to see all the home totally destroyed.

Mark has been cutting tree limbs that are near power lines to help to keep the: from going down.  Also cutting palm fronds that he could get to.  He sprays his roof with water regularly as the sparks are flying around like crazy and are what can and will start another fire.

JUNE, I do hope your test prove to show you do not have strep and therefore can return to “freedom” very soon!  Feel much better sweet lady.

It has been darn cold here today.....just a biting cold!  I had a appointment to do something that I have never ever done before......I had a acupuncture treatment for pain and a massage.  I bought it on Groupon for a very reasonable price, and every since then I have been dreading to go.  It was about to expire so I bit the bullet and went.  It was all OK....not nearly as scary as I expected.....mind you the masseuse was blind, seriously....so that helped!!!  Hahahha.

Good for you, SANDY, getting the colonoscopy scheduled.  Happy to read that you will go in for the prep time so they can keep an eye on you.  Best of luck.

CAROL, I am happy to read that you are flying home for Christmas....but it seems you are facing some challenges. We always try to get direct flights, but sometimes that is not possible.

LARRY, that is shocking to read how expensive it is to have police protection at your church.  I wonder if it would be possible to have a policeman that is a parishioner to volunteer their time?  I will be anxious to continue to hear what all Pat is making in the Instant Pot.  I hope you do get to speak to your great grands again tonight.

JANE, I hope you can be done very soon so you can take it easy for the rest of the night!

Have a good rest of your evening.....

Jenny

Lloyd, fried pies, love them and have eat them all my life.  My Moher used to make them regularly and wife did when we had kids at home.  I now stop at the day old bakery store down the street and pick up some of the apple and cherry, they are about half price and no difference in taste.

Jenny, happy to hear your son's house is still okay.  And the way the golf course if maintained, regular watering and cutting short must have a lot to do with minimum damage.

JaneS, smart lady.  traffic from now until after first of year will be a mess.  And around here with the rain has made our street into skating ranks, roads are so slick from the accumulation of dirt from no rain for so long.

June Hope you get back on your feet soon, my doctor called me again today and wanted me to cut down on the potassium supplement he prescribed and also wanted me to come in early for my next appointment and have blood work done before i see him.  Wonder what he has up his sleeve. Just take care of yourself and get well.

I am off to bed, c u tomorrow God willing,
Night, God Bless and Sweet Dreams

Good morning everyone..

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas..woke to 1/2 inch of snow on the ground. Can really do without that today but better than 12 inches of snow. We are off to the city today, then Dr's office, he has the report to the last test hubby had. We weren't to hear about that till the appointment on the 18th so this one has me worried. Not saying too much as hubby has enough on his plate to deal with.

Larry, the pill that is reduced is a capsule so that is changed down. We do have a pill cutter ,I just finished using it to cut the dogs pills in half.

Sandy, good to hear you will be admitted ahead of time, prep work is worse that the procedure. Loved seeing you ,Kelly and Kirk.

I had better scoot and get ready.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I think I have a ride to the stores I need to go to. My much younger neighbor mentioned that she has to go down that way and I said that if she lets me tag along, I'll take her to lunch.  She said I don't need to take her to lunch and I'm welcome to come along.  We WILL have lunch!

I'm waiting for the "boinger" for the dogs pills and then breakfast.  Then I'll get dressed and ready for whenever Cheri calls.  She has another errand to do first and then we'll be off to the "Strip".

I hope all are safe from the fires, on the the road to recovery or staying well.  God be with you this day and always.

Hi Everyone.  It is a rainy morning here and will continue with rain throughout the day and evening.  It is welcome.  We will be staying in the 40's all day.  I plan on going to coffee, after picking up my friend, and then after bringing him home will go back to the Church for our Thursday Wisdom group with the Pastor.

We enjoyed a nice dinner last night at Church and then at 7 am we got to talk with our 4 great grandchildren.  This included talking with the little 6 year old who we have never seen, except in pictures, and had never heard speak before.  Last week he was too shy to talk but this week joined right in.   Yesterday while at Walmart to pick up prescriptions for Pat I bought a pair of reading glasses.  I am only going to need them for close reading. Today my left eye is seeing almost as well as the right one.

Carol, the Weather Channel put out a notification last evening that the Santa Ana winds were going to be the strongest last night that they have ever been in recorded history.  I do hope they were wrong as those fires are so devastating.  Wow, you did stay up late.  You and my wife would make a good team although I think she is often asleep in her easy chair after I go to bed and then wakes up and comes to bed late.

June, aren't you glad your folks are super cautious as it protects you from other as well.  Hope you are feeling better today.

Lloyd, hope you find the tractor tires fully inflated this morning.  I know that is a big job.  What brand of tractor do you have and were these the big back tires?

Jane, I will have remember what Lloyd said and mention I also have sweet TEETH.  Good for you in following how you felt about not driving.  I told Pat last night after we picked up our groceries that we must change the time to a daylight hour rather than between 6 and 7 after our Church dinner.  It was raining lightly last night and I didn't enjoy the nighttime driving.  Don't worry about your typing as we are just happy to read your posting and we know you are not shouting at us (unless we need it).

Jenny, I was thinking about your son and DIL when I read the Weather Channel notification that the Santa Ana winds were suppose to break existing records for strength.  I hope they made it through the night.  It would he very difficult to rest in a situation like they are in.  Does Mark own his home or does he rent?  I hope the acupuncture treatment helped the pain.  That may be something Pat could consider in the future.  I am not aware of any of our parishioner being policemen.  Yesterday Pat made strawberry jam in the Instant Pot.  The recipe was not a success as the honey I had gotten at Costco was so strong it overpowered the strawberries and I had to Frebreze the house as the it was an unpleasant smell.  I doubt that the jam will be edible.  We did get to speak to our great grands last evening for a few minutes.

Hal, do you microwave the fried pies?  I find that often freshens up a bakery product that had gotten a bit stale.  The condition of your roads sounds like a good time to stay off of them.

Amy, sure hope the doctor visit isn't for something bad.  It is worrisome when we are called in for a doctor's appointment.  It sounds like you are making good use of your pill splitter.

Weather here is cold and rainy.  Suppose to stay that way until rain stops sometime this afternoon.  It was 39 degrees on car temp thingy.

I still have one more appointment today, at 1 PM, with my eye doctor for a final followup on my eye.  I want check when they have me down for my left eye.

Anyhow, hope everyone is having a good day.  Lloyd I was gone I guess when you tried to call.  I leave computer on during the day. Even when I am not around.

I'm still blah. Took a long hot shower this morning..sure felt good. Was told I can walk the hallways now, but still confined from "people" areas till the anti-biotics are all used. It is me, or it is the medicine, but I am soooo tired. Glad to stay home. I did go out and walked hallways today, it really wore me out.

Time to stretch out in the recliner again.....Hugs and love, June

Jenny, I am hanging onto every bit of news about those fires & think of you & the kids ... with a prayer in my heart.

Still have my splitting headache, 2nd day & no let up.  Figure it's because when working outside I would get hot & take off my hoodie & my ears & sinuses do not like the cold wind.  Couple more days of pain to make sure I don't do it again, & will give me peace.  Almost like the migraines I used to have only it's the back of my head & migraines were always in the front.... but makes the eyes hurt so computer screen makes it worse.  I'll live & whine............Goodnight, all...

Good afternoon. The winds calmed down quite a lot and therefore the news out of Marks area of California is much better this afternoon.  They have lifted many of the evacuated areas and Mark was able to get to the Golf club to check it out.  It appears there is no damage to the building at all, but the fire did burn right up to the building.  They will meet at 11 AM tomorrow and assess the damage to the course and the building and will see when they can hope to reopen.  All planned activities have been cancelled through the weekend.  While he was at the club he was able to get some great videos of the helicopters getting the water out of the lake on the property.

In driving around his neighborhood he was shocked to see just how close the fires burned to their home.  LARRY, I believe you asked if Mark owns the home, and the answer is no, they are renting the home.

Again, I thank you all for your possitive thoughts and prayers.  The fires have caused so many problems, and sadly many area continue to fight the awful wind and fires.

I just discovered I did not finish my post......😪 it is now nearly time to hit the hay.

A snow storm started here and the roads became a mess very quickly.  I have been on the telephone so much all evening hearing how the family members commutes went.

JANE, I hope you are going to be able to rest well tonight so you are set for your finger repair tomorrow.

SHIRLEY, I am sorry to read that your headache continues. I do hope you will wake up and feel much better tomorrow.  I thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

LARRY, so happy you got to talk to all of the greatgrands last night.  I am sorry to read the jam did not turn out well and caused a aroma that was not pleasant.  Mark said they looked forward to a much better night of rest knowing that the fires have let up.  I feel that the pain in my neck/shoulder area continues to be better today....maybe acupuncture is something Pat should consider.

I must say good night.  I hope you all rest well.

Today is Don's birthday.  We shall see if he feels up to going out for breakfast.  There was a freeze warning last night.

Our son called  and told us the visitors staying at our home in the Denver area are having problems with the garage door not staying up.  This happens ever year - it takes two of us to get a car out of the garage because the door wants to slam down.  We forgot to tell the visitors about that little issue....

Shirley:  Nice picture of the restored B-29.  We visit the resting place of many planes at the south end of Tucson.  It is fascinating.

Amy:  I will try to send you a photo of the latest quilt - it has to be finished at home but the top stitching (by a pro) came out great. Hoping you can see the circles she put in the design.

Hi Everyone. We have a rainy morning and last evening they were saying on the local weather that we might see some snow today.  However, the forecast this morning shows we will continue to have rain but the temperatures will stay in the 40's so not likely we will see any snow and if it falls it will melt right away.

I plan on staying home today and inside where it is nice and warm.  I have several small projects to do after I finish reading and posting this morning.  I did go to coffee yesterday and then to the Wisdom group and finally stopped at Aldi's for a few items, including eggs which had gone up to $0.99 a dozen whereas they had been less than $0.40 a dozen.

Lloyd, my dad always had Farmall Tractors.  I had to do a Google search to remind myself what the IHC stood for.  Our tractor had no cab air or heat and no cover over the seat.  I spent many hours on it in the fields.  As I recall we had a model H and I think later dad may have had a model M.  Thanks for the information.

Hal, you were colder in Texas than we were here in South Carolina yesterday.  I am amazed at how much better I am seeing now and the second eye's vision is now almost as good as the first eye.  I will have to keep a pair of reading glasses in my shirt pocket for close work.

June, I expect those antibiotics are contributing greatly to your fatigue.

Shirley, why are you anxious for snow?  That is not something I want to see on the ground although wouldn't mind seeing some snow flakes.  Hope your headache is much better or gone today.

Jane, hope the finer repair goes well and the pain will be gone.

Jenny, that is great news from Mark.  Hope his club won't be closed long as sure they depend on the revenue and certainly glad he didn't lose his home.  Glad your pain is lessened.  Glad to know of your apparent success with acupuncture.

Amy, your report from your husband's doctors appointment doesn't sound good.  I hope you hear from the specialist soon.  I saw that same report about the bunny.  I thought the young man was very foolish to actually jump over the fire for the rescue.  It is amazing what the cataract surgery does.

Carol, Happy Birthday to Don.  Glad your quilt turned out to your satisfaction.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well it was quite a night.  Snow came down and covered everything.  First time my dog and GGrandkids had seen snow, she wouldn't walk on it this morning when she went out to take care of business.  We had a nice fire in the fireplace last night and it was cozy and warm and "wham" the power went off, power outage covered most of the area.  Of course it didn't affect our fireplace so we had warmth in our den/kitchen area but the rest of the house got pretty cool.  Anyhow we sat in candle light all night and I finally went to bed, wife stayed in den on the couch with fireplace going, it is a gas fireplace so no toting wood or ash.  Power came back on around 2AM and furnace ran for what seemed like hours warming the house up.  Temp was below freezing out, first freeze of the year.  At any rate we still have snow on the ground.  Although, it is now rapidly melting and will be gone in short order.

My appointment with eye doc went okay yesterday.  She said it had (my eye) healed well and looked great.  Larry like you I am well please with the improvement in vision, cant wait for my other procedure next month.

Shirley, I know how headaches can be.  Wished I had some solution to yours but nothing I know of will make them stop but Tylenol or something like that.  But if you don't like taking a pill I would go to doctor and get a shot that will make them stop and let you rest.  You cant burn the candle at both ends babe and not expect to pay a price.

Had to laugh at paper this morning, of course, had to put in the global warming crap about our little snow event.  Like we had never had snow before.
No global warming at all for 18 years 9 months â€" a new record.
http://www.climatedepot.com/2015/11/04/no-global-warming-at-all-for-18-years-9-months-a-new-record-the-pause-lengthens-again-just-in-time-for-un-summit-in-paris/ (http://www.climatedepot.com/2015/11/04/no-global-warming-at-all-for-18-years-9-months-a-new-record-the-pause-lengthens-again-just-in-time-for-un-summit-in-paris/)

Nothing on tap here today, except watch the snow melt.

Janie, I hope the procedure works on your hand.  I am sure it will just will take a little time.

Everyone have a great day.

Hal, I liked your description of the snow outside, fireplace going, power off - I pictured a Christmas scene on a card.  We have snow on the ground too but I think ours will stay because our temps will be in the 20s for a while.

Whitecaps at Grand Haven again.  The water is warmer than the air, so no ice yet.

Good morning.

I slept so much better last night knowing that the situation with Mark and Megan is under control.  Again, I thank you all for your kind words.

AMY, I think the video with the rabbit was pretty much covered everywhere.  Bless the man for caring to help save the little bunny, but he sure did take a big chance to be that close to the active flames.  I have thought about all the wild life that probably met their demise....I know there were several horses that did not get out😢. Mark took a amazing video of the choppers pulling water out of the lake at the golf course....he said as he was taking the video he realized if anything went wrong he was not in a safe spot by any means.

AMY, holding good possitive thoughts for your hubby, regarding the phone call you are waiting on today. HUGS.

JANE, take care of the hand....sorry it did not respond right away after the shots.

CAROL, please give Don a HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish from us today.  We have issues with our garage door this time of the year as the Sun hits the sensor and makes the door think something is in the way.  Bob has to get out and stand in the way of it as I push the button.

SHIRLEY, I have to agree with Hal.....when you burn the candle at both ends your body is bound to respond in a negative way....and God only knows you DO burn that candle at both ends.  I am a believer of a dash of peppermint oil on my forehead to help cure a headache, however I am concerned yours are too sever for this easy method. Hope you are doing much better today.

HAL, I, too, had a nice vision of you and your lady last night with the snow falling and the beautiful fire going.....then you had to throw in the power outage......sounds like your wife was smart to stay in the room with the fireplace.....glad the power did come back on.  I had to chuckle at your doggie not wanting to step on the snow!

LARRY, I am anxious to hear what comes out of the meeting today at the golf club.  I thought about all the food they might have to toss out......not sure if their were power failures or not.  Oh yes, the revenue loss will be substantial for sure.  The hourly employees will also take a big hit....and that is very sad, especially this time of the year.  I have not thought about Farmall tractors in a very long time, so I enjoyed reading what you said about your dads.  I can not believe the price you have quoted on the eggs in your area.  Ours sure are no where near that price.

We have a good skiff of snow on the ground here, but that is all.  It is to warm up some today, so it should all melt on its own.  We are so dry here, and in need of some moisture.

I wish you all a good day.

Jenny

I just joined the club, of people losing long post.

Carol happy Birthday to Don from NY,

Jenny, I join with everyone in hearing the good news about Marks house. I am just so sad to read and see all the awful news about those fires.
By the way, the supermarket on our corner is have a grand reopening to day, and if you spend $25 you a a dozen free eggs, and a box of macaroni something else, but I forgot. That is easy to spend that much nowadays in the grocery store.

June, hope you are feeling better.

Shirley, years ago I had bad headaches that I would have to go to bed.

Amy:  I am sorry that I missed reading the little clue about your husbands health.  A specialist is a good idea when called for - may he recover soon.

Gloria de: Don will get a kick out of a greeting from you.

Our daughter just called as they passed the lake in Minnesota where the kids basically grew up - the house is valued 3 times what we sold it for - it has lake on two sides - a long dirt road and only five houses there.  It is cold, per usual and daughter and her husband flew into the Twin Cities and rented a car to watch hockey  in Duluth.  Who in their right minds do that?  We did for years and only got caught in one terrible storm.

Jenny:  Since the area near Mark has already burned - do you think he is out of danger now?  It stands to reason that there would not be any dry kindling so to speak in the yards.  LOL on your garage door.  Our Minnesota garage doors worked perfectly - even our Suburban started every time while parked outdoors many nights.

Shirley:  Can your headaches be allergies?   Take care.

Thank you all for the pity for my headache.... cured it for sure!  Seriously, so much going on it's hard to tell what brought it on, I've been pushing my luck on all sides & got caught.  Got up at 3:00 am to grind those roasts.  Couldn't sleep & know i could after getting that job done & eating.  Naturally the cats thought it was breakfast time.  Headache was not bad this morning & I did get another hour of sleep (total of 4 hours), then no headache at all. I did wear my ski headband plus coat with hood when I went out.  I do know better.

The other headaches I get come from eating meats with nitrates & nitrites. I figured that out when we moved to KC area and
I didn't have a doctor telling me I had chronic sinusitis...  I cut out all meats & foods with those preservatives and all headaches went away.  About 2 years "being clean" from those preservatives I ate 2 pieces of bacon & 24 hours later I started getting that creepy feeling that comes before a headache.  Since that time of cleaning out my system of preservatives, I have been able to eat pizza or bacon but NOT day after day....  ::)

Amy, I keep watching for good news about your hubby.... maybe the specialist will be a blessing with a new fix.

Jenny, so glad your kids are starting to be at ease again.  Will be a while before life will be back to normal & I'm sure they will have a heavy heart seeing so many people losing everything.

Carol, wish Don a special happy birthday from me....  always pleases me to see how well he is doing managing his health. Doesn't seem that long ago you were explaining all the different things he was doing (because of your research) to help.

Hal & Larry, I do agree burning that candle on both ends is not smart, but now & then life runs amuck & got to catch up.  When Cas was alive, the last few years, he couldn't do much physically but he did the thinking.  I forgot how much time it takes to THINK!  I have a couple CDs rolling over the first week of Jan (2nd & 5th) ... and the rate offered by that bank is bad.  Another bank came up with an offer of over 1/2% above but offer is good only through Dec.  I asked if they could delay for a week & response was not in my favor.  I'm not willing to take a $900 penalty to take days early withdrawal.... They've had it 3 years so not like real early withdrawal.

One online bank has a much better rate & what I see so far, reliable. Before Cas retired I handled moving the CDs around & had more choices in KC area, plus the rates back then were 8%+.  So awful now, but I'm not willing to take risks.  Lousy timing on when these roll over, holidays & all.  Hopefully where they are will go up after the first. Keeps the mind busy between cooking, banking & Christmas plans.  Glad the headache is gone, betcha I am more careful .... for a while.  ;)

Time to get something else to eat & "tub-up" that soup I made yesterday.  Tastes pretty good but will taste better later on.  I need to make a big pot of chili to freeze, too.  Sweet dreams.... and Hal, enjoy MY snow!

Hi dear hearts, I really don't know where the day went. I went out once to walk the hallways, then again later to pick up my mail, and snuck outside to sit on the glider and grab some fresh air, then home to read some more..had a nice phone call from son Dan. Dori has been busy cooking up a storm for the party they are throwing at the Church for the congregation tomorrow..I guess they do this each Christmas. I have put some Christmas decorations on the outside of my door, and that's about it. Another day or two and I will be finished with the anti-biotic, and hopefully return to feeling like a normal human being instead of a zombie-like creature.

Keep well my dear hearts, I love you all so much. God be with you !! June

Good morning everyone...

Looks like I have an offer to waltz with the shovel..no jitter bugging with the snow blower today, not enough snow. Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers, we will get through this I am sure. Being human I am wanting it all in past so we can move on with life. Guess a lesson in patience is in order.

Laundry, shoveling and maybe more baking we shall see how the day goes. One learns to take the day as it comes anymore.

Both dogs have been out and both had their roll in the snow, snow bath I call it, all you see is feet flailing in the air.

June, so happy to see your post, good to hear you are feeling better and enjoyed your walks. Antibiotics will make you tired also so they are to blame.

Shirley happy to see your headache is missing. I know what you mean about the thinking part as that is the way it is here now.

Carol, I missed Don's birthday, hope he had a wonderful birthday.

Jane, hope your finger is better today..

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone..

good morning Everfriend!  I managed to get the peanuts roasted and bagged yesyerday and most of the things packed for my sister's family.  I'm hoping my grandniece will be around to accept delivery on Sunday when Cathy and I go shopping.

We have another Memorial Service to attend for another old friend today.  Cathy is picking me up at 10:15 Gloria was 88 and I've known her since she was a teenager.  That's a LONG time!

The dr told me that I might have some soreness in my hand and up my armm from the shots.  BOY! Was he ever right.  I can feel that cord all the way to my shoulder.

I hope you all have a great day free from pain and full of love1

Hi Everyone.  It is still very dark here as it is early for me.  However, I woke up about 3:30 and wasn't able to go back to sleep so got up early.  We had rain here all day yesterday but didn't see any snow. We have a 50% chance of more rain today and it will stay in the 40's.

My kitchen chores are done until Pat gets up.    I may go to a meeting later this morning and need to stop by the Post Office.  A neighbor brought over a slip from the Post Office with our address on it that had been placed in her box.  We have no idea what this might be but hope to find out today.  I started reading an ebook yesterday and hope to continue reading it today.  It has been a long while since I have read a book but look forward to doing so in the future.

Jane, glad you didn't have to have surgery on your hand.  I do hope it responds as expected.  Good thing the doctor warned you about the pain you have.  I hope it is something that won't last long.

Hal, nice that your great grandchildren got to see what snow is all about.  Glad your power didn't stay off too long.  We have an electric fireplace which produces a pretty flame but absolutely no heat and even if it did would be useless in an electrical outage.  I do have a propane heater upstairs but the kerosine I have stored outside on the patio is several years old so don't know whether it would be safe to use or not.  Glad you were able to stay warm. Too bad you have to wait until next month for the other eye procedure.  Seeing better is great and now both of my eyes see about the same.

Jenny, I read that some very valuable race horses had been lost in the California fires.  Glad you were able to sleep better.

deAngel, the club of people losing posts isn't a good one to belong to.  :)  Unfortunately I am also a member of that club although it hasn't happened many times.

Carol, did your grandson know his folks were coming to watch him play hockey?  I bet it was a treat for the parents as well.

Shirley, glad to see your headache stopped yesterday.  I told my wife a couple of days ago that if she had to keep up with all the bills and record keeping I would feel for her.  I think our son would have to be called upon to help.  Hopefully I will be around for several more years to keep track of all of the detail.  Having been an auditor for 10 years of my work life I do keep good records and that came in handy yesterday when I got a billing from a doctor's office that I had paid last month.

June, nice to see you were able to get outside for a little bit yesterday.  Medications can sure do a number on us occasionally, especially those antibiotics.

Amy, glad you don't have enough snow to use the snow blower although expect you are anxious to take it out and use it.  It sounds like your dogs love the snow.

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy, seems you may be a bit depressed.  God only knows you  and your hubby have had a full plate for a long time.  Call your pups around you and have a big group hug.  And you do have a good friend that is always beside you, a good talk with Him always gives renewed energy and he will never leave you in need.  Enough, or it could be all that dancing with those two guys that hang out around your house. Mr. Shovel and Mr. Blower.  Watch them, they will take advantage.

Larry, I don't think the kerosene would be dangerous, just may not burn.  I don't know if it is like our gasoline of today or not.  My SIL who runs a Honda shop says many of the problems today with engines is the lousy gasoline the government came up with.

June, happy to read your post this morning.  I think the changes that they have made to antibiotics causes the side affects.  They used to not bother me, but they sure do make me feel lousy anymore.  But they only prescribe them for five to seven days not the normal ten they used.

It is beautiful sunshiny day out.  Suppose to get up into the low 60's later.  No signs of the snow of yesterday.  Boy did you see that Corpus Christi got seven inches of the white stuff.   Unreal.
All you folks North and East of us are enjoying the benefits of our storm.........

Have you ever noticed:  my wife was on the phone with our friend in Boston last night for well over an hour.  After she got off and came back into the den I ask, what did Joyce have to say.  "oh nothing much".   Ah, er, well okay.  Not much.

I hope everyone has a good day and everything goes as planned.

Good afternoon, and the ground is finally getting white.

Jane, I hope that finger feels better soon.

June, good to see your post. get well soon.

Larry, yesterday I got my bill for my Discover card, and there was a small amount due to PayPal. I do not have that, so I put the other name that was with PP in the Googles and it came up with a lot of Chinese name, I then put the numbers in that came after the name.
I got: Suspected Fraudulent charge.
I also have and electric fireplace, but it gives out a lot of heat, there again, no help if electric goes off. Have use it when I have had oil burner problems.

Amy take Hal advise.

Still snowing here, lightly though, just making everything look so pretty!! Son called from TN and told me he walked through 6 inches of snow in GA..of course Mom teased him about us having very little. I am sure I will eat those words before winter is out.

Blueberry pie made and laundry almost done. may go and play in the sewing room for a bit !

Hal, thank you, I have no time to get depressed and I am sure this will all work out. I agree He is the one to turn to  and Lord knows I have talked His ears off more than once. I also live in an area where beauty is all around, birds, fox, skunks ,racoon, wolves, moose, the odd elk and lots of deer. Sun setting or waking up on the lakes..geese, loons, all kinds of wee birds and even swans flying over head. I feel I am so rich by far with all this and the wind blowing through the pines at night ..

Lloyd, need a lot more snow here to make ice cream. I do have an ice cream maker but we don't eat it fast enough..

Better get back to my laundry..

Good Afternoon,

No snow here - just bitterly cold temperatures and just enough wind to make the wind chill a bit lower.

Jane,  hope your hand is improving.
Hal,  I understand where your wife's coming from re: the phone call.  A "friend since birth" and I can do that.
Before cell phones,  one would call the other, we'd talk for an hour, hang up - and the other one would "return" the call and we'd talk for another hour.  That way, we split the cost.
Shirley , my only comment on your refusal to slow down is "Reasons aren't necessarily excuses".   :smitten:  Hope your headache is better.
Gloria, Miss Ellen  lives in Hamilton Heights and works at a restaurant in the Theater District so don't know if she's seen any snow. Haven't seen any snow pictures on Facebook, yet.
Jenny, I join those who are happy that Mark's house has been spared.  I hope the golf course can be repaired without too many problems.
June,  so glad you're able to be out and about.  I could sense a bit of depression setting in - even though you're always a positive thinker.   :hugs:

It seems like I've been on a  :tread: ever since Thanksgiving.

Three very good friends of more than 35 years have died since then.  There have been Memorial Services for two and the third one is on the 18th.  I will miss each of them a lot.
I started a book the other day and thought "Oh, Renee would love this'......and then remembered I can never again share fun things with her.

I've scaled waaaaay back on Christmas decorating this year and find I don't miss the things I haven't put out.
I donated my big tree to the church's mission project that helps in an apartment house for abused women with children
Then put two mini trees at either end of a cabinet. I think they took more time to decorate than the big tree did!    I put one of the many Christmas Village buildings in between with two small figurines beside it - and the rest of the Village stayed in the storage cupboard.

Mother of the Grands sent everyone's Christmas list and I spent most of Thursday shopping on-line and on the phone.  Don't feel I'm neglecting the local economy because the phone orders were to local stores and most of the on-line was for gift cards that will be spent locally.  I don't "do" Amazon......yet.  ;)

All of my Christmas cards to be mailed are done.  I will send some e-cards individually so I can personalize the message.

Have wrapped and labeled the present for the Santa Tree at church.  It's for a mother in the home I mentioned earlier. Made sure I put the package by my purse so I won't walk off without it tomorrow.

I know I have all the ingredients for "baking as needed" and won't need to start that until Monday.

So I think I'll get off the treadmill and be a "recliner radish" until time to go to the Neighborhood Christmas Open House Tour.   Will only go to the two on my street because it's too much walking to get around to the others..  The "after-party" is next door so I'll pop in there for a bit longer.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywere an Enjoyable Day

Hi kids, I'm still here, and I feel I am on the mend. It may be wishful thinking, but whatever, I'll take a double did of it. Tomorrow is my last anti-biotic pill....YaY....I'll have to miss Church again, but whatever, God is never more than a prayer away, or a breath away, or a thought away...we are SO Blessed. I'm feeling good tonight.

However, my heart and prayers are with those who have lost so much in these terrible fires that have been popping up in so many areas in Ca.

Amy, I am so happy that you are still well and able to all you do to keep your life as normal as possible. I know you are under a strain with your beloved's illness, and I know that the need to get out there to stack wood, dance with the various shovels and blowers, taking care of those two four legged kids, are needful therapy in your life at this time. And then the quiet peace you feel in your quilting.  I am so proud of you girl friend.

Gloria de, I am just delighted that your nephew is still with you. I hope that you find comfort in having him available at all times, and I hope he can stay as long as needed. I don't "do" Christmas cards any more. My "Angels"  Gary and Dori take care of that and include me and a "gift"..check-- in the card.I am so blessed with these children of mine. I have no cares at all.
Now I will quit gabbing and to fix a lite supper. Not hungry but the body needs fuel. I Love you, my cyber family.

This old day is drawing to a close and pulling me right along with it.

June, it was nice to hear you are feeling up and starting to feel human once again.  I feel certain that as soon as you finish your pills you will really feel like you are on the mend.

Callie, you sounded chipper and like you are getting right into the spirit of the season.  2 to 1 you wont become a recliner radish.   I thought you would be right up there on cloud nine tonight since Baker Mayfield from OU won the Heisman.  I would have been surprised if he hadn't.  Did you watch the Army/Navy game today.  Another one of those down to the wire games.

Guess I better get off this thing before I injure myself by falling asleep while I am writing.  I hope everyone has a nice quite night and sleeps the whole night through.

Goodnight, God Bless and Sweetdreams

I have intended to get here all day long.....no excuse really...just running slow.

We were to go to Laramie WY today for the memorial service for my cousins husband, but yesterday I started feeling puny, so decided if I did not feel much better this morning that it would be best for us to just stay home. It was a very wise decision.

I spoke to Mark and he gave me a bit of news about the condition of the golf club.  The inside of the club house had terrible smoke damage in some areas.  He said it really smelled bad in there and he became very badly effected, respiratory wise after being in the building for a few hours.  The clothing in the pro shop will probably be a loss again from the smoke damage.  Two of the bridges on the course were totally burned and most of the control boxes had melted.  They are going to try to open on Tuesday, but they are not sure.

JUNE, it is so good to read your post and hear you say you are feeling better.  I sure hope it continues.

CALLIE, you sound like you are getting along very well.  I hope you enjoyed the home tour and visit afterwards.

We have Oliver the Doodle here with us tonight.  His mom and dad are downtown at her company Christmas Party and will be spending the night in a hotel.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Well, here it is, time for that Sat. night bath again (I really do shower & wash hair other days,  :crazy2: just a must do on Sat.night).

Glad you are feeling better, June.... seems everyone is sick around here... learned tonight gr-son that lives here, wife & 3 kids have the "barfs" so I dug out (of the freezer) 2 tubs of cooked, scrambled hamburger, brought up 2 tall cans of Hunt's spaghetti sauce, will pick up a big onion tomorrow & put together a big-big batch of spaghetti.  I add more herbs & spices to the sauce & lots of hamburger (no real recipe, Jane) & add the "angel hair" pasta (AmBeauty) & all the grands & great grands eat like little pigs.  Took a batch to my son last week when he was babysitting his grands & he sent a thank you with photos of both kids with sauce all over their faces & a big grin.

Callie, my sincere sympathy for the loss of your friends..... My long time friend's birthday was the 7th of Dec.... will miss her as long as I live.  For years we would only talk or send letters at Christmas time, could pick up the phone & would be talking like it was only yesterday.  Like you, so many times I want to tell her something & that kick in the stomach feeling hits.... never again.  We had 10 girls in our little "click", some from 1st grade on & some from 8th grade on.... sadly only several of us still living on our own, 5 dead and a couple are in "memory care".

I'm planning to go to MO yet this month, will stop & visit my sister in Warrensburg (think you spent time there, right?) on the way, take decorations for Mom & Dad's graves, take a niece to lunch & try out the state fair campgrounds in Sedalia... and head back next day & stop to visit my brother & wife when I go through KC.  I pick up a whole box of special donuts (filled & not) as well as different types of apple fritters & other goodies, we will gab for an hour & I can get back before dark.  Gets dark about 5:30 these days.  Hugs to you.

I still don't have my outside lights up, put the decorations on the double doors & got the living room done.  Shark is parked in the hall and Mr.Hoover sent back to the bedroom, he still works best on carpet (power drive).  I had hoped to have a tea for the ladies in the neighborhood, 2 have not been here long, but don't think I will get everything done in time.  Might be better in January when we are
not so busy.      But I so wanted to use all my Christmas serving pieces one more time.... you ladies know what I mean.

Good for you, Gloria D.... wish you could post a photo of your Cape Cod scene.  Nice your nephew is there.

Sandy, I am green with envy over your snow!  Don't know why I love it so much but in spite of slick streets & driveways that have to be dug out, I get such a feeling of peace & joy when the ground is covered.  Bet that little one will be fun to watch as she experiences her first snow to play in.

Amy, sounds like you have a slice of Heaven with all those critters to watch & listen for.... and good neighbors "to boot" as my father used to say.  Wishing you peace and miracles for the holidays.

Hal, I still hear from DorisA now & then (I call or she calls) & we usually talk over an hour... laugh & giggle about nothing & I couldn't tell what we talked about when I hang up.  It's a female thing......... :uglystupid2:

Larry, Cas was so methodical, kept track of every detail.... only reason we stayed married was separate checking accounts!  I had household money & knew where every penny went but was not the best with the paper work.  Since he had to keep records & his expense account as well as his "happy money".... he loved handling the business end of "house work" after he retired.  I still took care of utilities & anything to do with every day living, but left choices of insurances (house, car & our health) & taxes of all kinds, up to him. Accounting & book keeping was not my strong suit.   :idiot2:

Jenny, so sorry about Mark's "place of work" & concern for his respiratory problem.... must be still a lot of smoke in the air, hope he can find a way so it doesn't bother him too much.  Would a mask help?  Too bad you had to miss the memorial but wise you didn't go.

I'd better get moving, my early to bed is not so early now.  Cats had their midnight snack early but I didn't turn off the lights in that end of the house so will go do that first.  Bitter cold outside but not as bad as the last 2 nights.  Wind chill in low teens.  Sweet dreams to all.  Shirley

Hi Everyone.  It was a very chilly 26 degrees when I got up about 6 am this morning.  However, we are have a sunny day and it will get up to the higher 40's by afternoon.  The only plans we have for today are to go to Church and then hope to go out to lunch with friends if Pat feels up to attending Church this morning.  Yesterday was a rainy, misty type of day and the sun came out only around 5 pm.

Hal, I hope I don't have to find out about the kerosine as wouldn't try to use it unless our power stayed off for a considerable period of time.  I have only used the heater once and burned out all of the kerosine in it before storing it as well as removing the batteries.  I had a heater before and used it for several years.  I wonder the same thing about the calls my wife has with her sister.  I will usually ask her if anything is new and the answer is usually no.

deAngel, give Discover a call, if you haven't already, and they will suspend that charge from your bill and probably send you a new card with a different number.  Glad your electric fireplace gives out some heat.  Ours looks realistic but it has a safety cover on it.  We have really never used it.  We had a gas started fireplace in our other house and never had a fire in it.  Our old neighbor had the fireplace in his house removed and had double doors to his glassed in patio installed as it provided more daylight to the room.

Amy, did the snow in Georgia cause him to park his truck?  My wife has spent time in her sewing room upstairs the last two days.  It sounds like you live in a beautiful place.

Callie, glad your area avoided the snow.  It seemed when I lived in the Oklahoma City area that the wind was always blowing.  Pat has one of the Christmas Village and it is on top of our entertainment center and we leave it up all year but don't turn on the lights until this time of the year.  Part of our Christmas shopping has been through Amazon but I bought the new laptop at Costco, which is pretty close to where we live.  Hope you enjoyed the Neighborhood Christmas Open House Tour.

June, I heard on the news last night that the firemen are saying those fires may continue until after Christmas before they will be able to get them stopped.  I sure hope you will feel better by tomorrow since you will be through with the antibiotic.

Jenny, I had to wonder when homes being destroyed in the area where the golf course is located who will be coming to play on the course?  Sorry to hear of the smoke damage but at least the club house wasn't destroyed.

Shirley, sorry to hear of the sickness in your family.  Your spaghetti and sauce sounds delicious.  For several years I had Pat take care of paying the bills and keeping up with the checkbook.  However, I took that back over when she started feeling so bad with her bad and she has never said anything about it.  I used to save the bills up and pay them once a month but anymore just pay them as they are received.

Jane, hope the snow holds off until you and Cathy get your Christmas shopping done.

The sun is now out and the sky is clear so it will be a much more enjoyable day today than the last two, which were rainy and chilly.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, teeth are clean and face is scraped and all I have to do is put my Sunday clothes on.  Wife is not going, she wants to sleep in.  Her decision.

Larry, Amy's area does sound like a great place to live.  I am sure you, like me, remember you growing up years with lots of animals in the area, except some we wanted to keep away from the house and our animals.  I remember when we had snow and I was young I would go down by the creek and track animals, sure I was going to find one, never did.  Always could find lots of Coon tracks by the creek in the mud, but never saw the Coon.

Pretty cold here his morning but will warm up into the 60's again this afternoon, suppose to be this way all week.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good late afternoon, very cold some snow still on the ground from yesterday.

June, glad to see you nice long post, sounded like you. Please take care.

Jane, hope your hand is feeling better.  I will try and find my no peek beef recipe  is and send it off to you.

Larry, We tried calling discover card, but they want us to call Pay Pal, which I do not have. Did get through to them, but it was a 76 Min, wait. and my neighbor could not stay that long just hanging on the phone.

Gloria where are you?

Good evening dear hearts, I was in this morning and read all your good posts, but the bed told me to go lie down, so I did. Nurse came in with my anti-biotic, last one of eight, and I am glad to be finished. I think they made me feel very tired. I hope it was that. I am free to leave the apartment house now, and that is a great feeling.I scooted down to the library late this afternoon...returned two books and picked up two more. I am reading all of Lori Wick's books right now. Light reading, but i like it.

Time to go cook my last t.v. dinner. I will need to place a big order soon, or not....I'm free to dine with others now. YAY !!!

Evening all!

Well just came in to go to bed and checking to see who all posted what and see that Linedancer and June has been in and left us a note.  Linedancer, I suspect that Gloria's Grandson may have her computer working on it.  She told us he was suppose to pick it up, I think last weekend, but guess he may have finally gotten over.

Not much going on here, including on TV, we kinda surfed the channels and tried to watch a show or two but they had so many commercials you really couldn't enjoy them.

June happy they finally "released" you.  Hope you perk up.''

Anyhow, off to bed.  Nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

June ,yippie, they sprung you lose!!! Please don't over do it and take each day as it comes.

Hal, I also think  her grandson is fixing her computer. Hope it gives her no more problems now.

Good morning Everyfrind!  I was wiped out last night and didn't even stop by to shut down the computer!  But my shopping is done and the gumdrops are done.  They seem to take forever with the setting and drying and cutting and more drying and sugaring but they're my favorite Christmas candy!

Gloria De, I'll be waiting for your recipe.  Natalie's book is looking good with recipes from all over the country and some from out of the country, too but so far, none from Long Island!

The snow that was predicted for here yesterday never came and now 'they" are saying we will have it today.  But it was supposed to start before 7 and there's nothing so far.

Amy, they weren't my zzzs you found. i used all of mine and still slept better last night than i have in a long time!  might have been the ibuprofen i took before i went to bed.

i better get dressed and moving or i won't get done what's set for today.  you all make today great!

Hi Everyone.  This morning I am having to work from my laptop as our furnace stopped working sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning and my office is fairly chilly. It is 36 degrees outside this morning but will be getting into the high 50's this afternoon.   Fortunately we do have a small electric heater that is keeping our family area reasonably warm.  I have talked to the AC/Heating and they will be able to come out today and fix it.  We are also scheduled to have our annual termite inspection at 10 am this morning. s

Scott has today off and wrote me early this morning saying they would like to come out and make our dinner tonight.  I am sure we will take him up on his offer.  Nothing else is on our schedule for today.

Hal, we did have some wild animals like squirrels and rabbits and coons  and I guess some coyotes but that was about it.  Our area was rich farm land that was cultivated although there was some small forest areas that were not cultivated.  We never had a problem with any thing attaching our pets or our livestock.

deAngel, that was a strange result from Discover since you don't have a Pay Pal account.  It sounds like you got hold of someone who didn't know what they were doing.  Can you chat on the computer with them?  I have found that the chats are much quicker than the phone.

June, glad you have been released from your apartment and that the antibiotics are over.  Hope you feel better today and will be able to enjoy a meal in the dining room.

Amy, glad you were able to get some extra rest yesterday.  We haven't started wrapping gifts but might do some of that today. I am sure your son is a good snow driver but it is the other drivers who may not be as snow here in the South is not something that happens very often.  I do hope it won't that Gloria's grandson very long to work on her computer and that she will soon be back online.

Lloyd, in December of 2000 we had moved my folks to Iowa to be close to my sister and were leaving to come back to our home in Georgia there was a big snow storm.  We saw many vehicles on the sides of the road and in the ditches as we drove back on I-70. You will surely get some snow before next Spring.

Jane, I bet your gumdrops are a family favorite.  I don't think anyone in my family ever tried to make gumdrops.  Glad you missed the predicted snow.

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning, but still very cold.  We did have some snow on Saturday.  I guess we had 4 or 5 in. and it was pretty stuck on the trees.
Wasn't that much on the roads, but I think it did get a little icy over night.  Yesterday, was pretty and a lot of the snow melted. Still a little on the grassy areas this morning. They are calling for some more tomorrow, but not supposed to be much.

I did bake some cookies yesterday.  Last year I didn't bake any because I just really can't stand that long and bending over doesn't help.  But, I was determined to try this year.  And, it all worked out really well.  I paced myself, had everything ready and just took my time. I had only planned to bake one batch to see how it all went.  I was all finished and cleaned up in about 2 hours.  The ones I make are an old recipe that my aunt used to make years ago.  I use a cookie press and the little disk that I use makes long strips of cookies and you just go back and score them to make them into little bars.  One batch will fill the cookie press 2 times with a little bit left over that makes a few more.  I wind up with about 90 bars.  They turn out almost as thin as the cut-out sugar cookies and are my families favorite.  So, since everything worked out well, I plan to make some more today.  I have the butter out to get soft.  If I stop in between and rest a while, I am hoping to get 2 batches made up today.  I need to make a container for my 3 sons, a couple for 2 friends here in my building, and hopefully,  will have enough to give my grandson for Christmas.  My back doesn't usually hurt me, but bending over bothers me. So, I did take an Aleve before I started and I think that really helped.  I got a lot of other things done last evening also. So, it was a very productive day.  Just shows me when I keep busy, I am not as tired as when I sit around doing nothing.

Plus, I feel a lot better than I did for a couple weeks.  So, that is good.

I still need to do a little bit of shopping.  I have done some on-line,. but when it comes time for clothes, I like to look at things. So, hopefully.  my son and I will get to that on Saturday.  Nothing much is going on here where I live.  Our activity director left a couple weeks ago,  so several of the residents are trying to fill in and plan a few things.  I plan on playing cards tomorrow night for a little while.  I do enjoy that.  Nothing else planned.

Larry, That sure is nice that your son has offered to fix dinner for you and Pat this evening.  I know how much you will enjoy that.  I guess your  grand daughter will join you all.  Anytime someone else can fix dinner, it is enjoyed, because you didn't have to fix it.

I had gotten an order yesterday from Walmart and that is the first time, something was missing.  First of all, after I get the e-mail that the order is ready, I usually call to let them know someone is on the way to pick it up. My DIL was going to Walmart to get a few things, and when I tried to call to let them know that she would be there within the time period.  I tried for 10 or 15 min. to get through to them, and couldn't get through.  However, she didn't have any trouble when she picked it up. When I unpacked it,  some ground beef was missing.  And, I was so hoping to make up a meat loaf for dinner.  So much for that idea.  I tried calling several times, and couldn't get through, so I just am going to forget about it.  Didn't really amount to that much.  That is a first time that I have had trouble.  So, hope that was just an isolated incident.  My DIL said they were very busy.

I guess I better get on with my day and get started, or I will start feeling lazy.  LOL

A good morning to Jane, Amy, Lloyd and all the other friends who follow.  June, glad to read that you are feeling better.

Have a great day and hopefully, be able to stay warm, if you are in the cold zone.

Joy

Good Morning Everyone!

Cold out here this morning.  Okay, cold to us.  Suppose to be warm later on today, in the 60's again.

I have a PT appointment at 1:45 this afternoon and expect to end up starting some kind of program since I am feeling pretty good.

Nothing else much going on, well except the wife has stopped up one side of the kitchen sink and we will have to get someone to unstop it, I cant budge it.  She will not let the disposal run long enough.  Oh, well, obviously fussing at her doesn't help.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Relieved Gammy is happy to report that Miss Ellen is safe in NYC - even though the explosion was only 2 blocks from where she works  and she's in the general area frequently for auditions and such.

Hal:  Depending on what is stopping up the sink, you might try pouring boiling water in there - wish I could be there to help.  A good cleaning is with vinegar poured over baking soda- then, I pour a kettle full of boiling water.  Keeps everything going.

Shirley:  So sorry about your headaches.  Allergies can appear at any time suddenly- it could be that - well, keep on looking for the cause.

Larry:  the game was awful according to Laura but she and her husband were able to see the high points this family knows in Duluth.  They met with her god-father for lunch in the Twin Cities and then went to the college he attends in south of there.

Amy:  Loon in the lake - love the loons.  Send more south!!!

Callie:  Mother always said that "Friends are like Gold". So true.

Gloria de:  Your Cape Cod set-up sounds interesting.  We have the miniatures of a Colorado mountain town plus the Nativity scene.  Probably only the two things we will set up this year as we will be with daughter (everyone) on Christmas Day.

Daughter wants us to stay over for two days and I am very leery of taking Don up there as he has be really exhausted with the new medicine.  In fact, the dose will increase and it may get worse.  Trying not to stress over taking him on the plane , wishing it was non-stop but both ways have us changing planes (to save on the fee).

Our neighbor/friend called and said her Missouri family has vacated our house - they stayed about 4 days for funeral and family gathering.

Jenny:  I am going to try to talk to my doctor to ask if she would keep me on as a patient- wish me luck. The entire mess is all about Cash Flow - is that more important?  You two take care.

Callie:  Two blocks for the terrorist.  Too close - big hug to you!

Carol,  Ellen works from 3:00 - 10:00 p.m. and it isn't "audition season" right now.  I suspect she was sleeping soundly in her apartment waaay north of the area and probably didn't know about it until she was awakened by her Mama's text.  ;)

I was still collecting for my Department 56 Christmas Village when I found the radio station.  Was so excited that the sign read KBRR - which were the actual call letters at the time for the station in Leadville.
Hubby used to announce the local basketball games on KBRR.

The dough for my mother's recipe for Ice Box Cookies is chilling  and I'm about to mix/bake "Candy'Lasses" - molasses cookies with crushed peppermint candy added.

Back to the kitchen.

Hal and Amy, thank you for your good wishes, they are much appreciated. I may be "sprung" but my body is still tired. So, I took myself downstairs to the clinic, and asked why I was still so tired and weak feeling. My dear nurse said, "you had a throat infection, and it could take another week or ten days to fully recover." O.K., then I will accept that and rest as long as necessary. I did go down to the club house and loaded up on breakfast cereals, bananas, graham crackers for snacking, and if I feel like it, I will go downstairs for supper in our small dining room. I could have supper delivered to my apt. but why add another six dollar charge, when I get it free by taking myself downstairs. When I was "jailed" they gave me free delivery of food.

Larry, thank you for you kind wishes. As I said above I plan to go down for dinner, and I did have a walk out of doors, but still quite tired, which is normal.

Joy, I did a load of laundry this morning and so happy to have it done…a lot of rest periods while folding and hanging clean things, but I felt like I had conquered something. No more baking for me…..when I moved from Hemet I left so much stuff behind. The family had their choice of "stuff", but there was still a lot left for the  house-keeping girls to take.

Time to get ready for downstairs supper.....see you later. June

I finished wrapping the fruitcake to take to church next Sunday.  Then I cleaned off the dining room table and Kiran helped me set up the decorations on it.  She likes to do that because of the figurines is her daddy when he was an altar boy.  Kiran stayed for supper today and her daddy picked her up after basketball practice about 7:30.

My big wreath is hung on the outside of my house and it's gorgeous!  My daughter was concerned about me getting on a ladder to do it.  I told her Santa sent his elf to help me.  (My nice neighbor across the street did it!)

MY plan for tonight (after I get my second wind) is to pack my box to go to Texas and one for Oklahoma where my granddaughter lives.

June, congratulations on your release from "prison".  Now please try not to get into any more troube so you don't have to be incarcerated again!

We dodged a bullet with the weather prediction two days in a row.  They wanted snow.  I didn't and I won!  But it's predicted to start around 4 a.m. and last until 7 or so.  I hope it's over and cleared by the time I have to go to the dr tomorrow.  I hate for anyone to have to drive in bad weather on my behalf.

I wish you all a good evening and a restful sleep...just in case I don't get back.

Well my appointment went exceedingly well with my PT today.  I performed as directed and the sweet young lady was really happy. I felt so good the last couple of days and walking like a sober adult should.  The only thing I couldn't do was get out of my chair without using my hands.  The bad news, the sweet young lady will only be there for my next appointment then she moves on on her rotation, she will go to the wounded warriors at Fort Sam next. Those guys deserve her, she is an angel.

JaneS happy you are getting the weather you want.  I thought this arctic front caught you for sure.

June, hopefully you will start feeling better soon.  I'll slip a good word in for you tonight.

Well I am hitting the hay and calling it a night.  Hope all of you had a good day and a better one tomorrow.

Night, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Hi Everyone. We are to have a nice sunny 55 degree day today.  Scott called me yesterday afternoon to say that the battery in his car was dead.  So I went down and picked them up so they could come out for dinner and spend the evening and then they took the PT Cruiser back to use until he gets a new battery.  The only thing on the agenda today is for Pat to get an eye exam at Costco. I am confident she will have to get new glasses.  She wants to go a little early before her appointment so she can look around.  I just hope she can get an electric cart to use.  I will do a little shopping there as well.

The termite inspectors came pretty much on time and all was well as they found no signs of termites.  This company uses the Centracon treatment system.  A short time after they left the door bell rang again and it was the heating repair man.  All he found was that the breaker had tripped and when he reset that the furnace came back on.  He checked everything out and could find nothing wrong and said sometimes a spike on the electrical line can cause the 220 circuit to trip.  I had checked the breaker box but my experience was that a break would throw the switch over to the off position and all seemed to be fine.  So if this happens again I will know what to do.  The house quickly warmed up and all seems to be OK.

Joy, next week winter begins so guess it is time you got some snow up your way.  When we lived in Gaithersburg, Maryland I remember a couple of snow storms we had including one that caused the subway, which I always took to work in downtown D.C., to have to stop at the station before the one where my car was located and then they had to send a bus to get us on to our station.  I was able to get my car uncovered from the snow and made it to the end of my driveway.  It was a real mess.  Glad your cookie making went well.  My wife doesn't do much baking anymore and will sometimes just make cookie bars by putting all of the mix in a baking dish and then cutting them after they are cooked.  Sure glad you are feeling better.  Our granddaughter did join us for the evening.  I bet if you could get through to them they would be sure and credit you for the ground beef if they had charged you for it.  We sometimes encounter them not having an item or two we have ordered and Pat has marked for no substitutions but they always tell us when they bring out the groceries to put into the car.  Last week it was raining and I was able to unlock the truck from inside the car and didn't even have to get out as they loaded the groceries.

Hal, nice to see you are up to doing PT and that you feeling pretty good.  You have had quite a stint where that hasn't been the case from what you have said.  The couple of times we have stopped up our garbage disposal was when we tried to put too much in it at once.  I try to cut up things in smaller pieces that we put into the garbage disposal.

Callie, sure glad that Miss Ellen is safe.  Fortunately that terrorist wasn't a competent bomb maker and didn't injure anyone seriously but himself.  Glad the explosion was on the platform and not in a subway car.  They certainly restored the subway and bus system quickly.  That must have been a terrible mess.  I am always ready to taste-test cookies.

Carol, when you said the the hockey game was awful did you mean it wasn't competitive?  At least they got to see their son play and he must have been thrilled to have them in attendance.  Your mother was wise in that we can't have too many friends.  Does Don use a wheelchair at the airports?  I have had to use one several times when flying and my sister-in-law used one when she came to visit us and it makes the traveling so much easier.  How does your doctor improved the cash flow if she doesn't keep her patients?

deAngel, glad you had sunshine yesterday.  That helps even when it is cold.

June, hope you were feeling up to going down to have your dinner last evening. It sounds like you are going to have to give yourself time for recovery.

Jane, I expect Kiran is at the age where she can help you a bit with things like your decorations.  The hours you spend with her is something she will remember all of her life.  Glad you stayed off the ladder and your neighbor hung your wreath for you.  I asked my son to change the batteries in our smoke alarms last night and we have seven of them and downstairs the ceilings are nine feet so a ladder is needed.

Amy, hope the new snowblower has worked up to your expectations.  Do you have a lot of snow now?

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy just cant keep you away from the sno blower when he takes you out.  Hope he didn't leave you breathless and worn out with all that dancing.

I am up early for an 8 AM appointment with my dentist.  seems she has some kind of magic that causes me to mess a tooth up, always, around Christmas.  The thing broke just a little the other day and then broke off some more about 3-4 days ago.

It is kinda cold out, but I have't got far to go so a light jacket will work.

Boy Larry you have lots of smoke detectors.  I have only one. It is in the hallway.  But you are right old age and ladders don't mix very well.

Got to get a move on if I want a sip of coffee.

Good Morning everyone.
I have what I think is interesting point. I have a friend that Has camels.
(for real)
he milks them and sells the milk to folks with children that have special needs.
@ a cost of $80 per gallon.  that seams like a lot of $$ but Camel's cost thousand of $$ each here in the u s a.  have a great day.

Yesterday, the quail returned - they are the so cute.  Little Bobble heads.

Callie: We bought an :Alexa" for $39 and I listen to a radio station at home.  It even found a station in northern Minnesota.  Very clear reception - you have to have wifi for it to work.  Next week, begins the cookie baking- or at least hot fudge sauce for family and friends.  Years ago, my neighbors and self would begin baking and so for right after Christmas.

Larry:  the small but excellent health insurance company we used was bought out by a well-known company - the new ones promised "nothing will change".  Ya sure - you betcha.  Immediately, everything changed for their corporate greed.  I have to ask my doctor if she could accept me as a patient with my new plan - otherwise, with the greed plan, I would not be covered out of state.  Am very sure a lot of people do not read the fine print because it is so boring.

Larry:  I will ask for a lift at the airports this time.  We cannot have a seat assignment either and I am going to mention "hearing disability" for him - so true.  You know - I am not in charge of anything.

As one grandson came and told us "It is what it is and you don't throw a fit" - his mother had just laid down the law. I think he was five or six at the time.

Lloyd: Interesting news on camel milk.

Jane, where did you go????

Lloyd, I would love to have those camels and llamas and alpacas! Guess it is good I am out of farming now..

Gloria, hope your computer is fixed soon.

Better go see what I can get into now..

Good morning Everyfriend!  I played hookey from work today because I have a return trip to the dr and also snow was predicted.  It didn't materialize.  I have to go get dressed in a minute but I did want to report in.

I was able to finish some things I've been working on and one of them is my recipe book for Natalie and clint.  I think it turned out pretty nice and my heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who took the time to contribute a recipe.  I KNOW she's going to love it.

I also finished Kiran's birthday present.  She will be 11 on Dec. 18th.  Larry, you are so right.  She has become a big help to me.  I just ask her and she does things with or for me.

I didn't get the box ready for Texas or Oklahoma.  That's next.  After I get home....I hope.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Janie, thank you Love, I am feeling a little better with each passing day. This morning I spent placing an Amazon order and happy to have done with it. Surprising how doing very little can still be very tiring with lots of typos and erasures.  You do SO much for others Janie, it tires me just reading about it.

Larry, I did go down for an early supper, sat with a dear gentleman whose wife recently died. He is going to move to another area here where he will get more individual care.Mind is failing more and more. He was talkative though and able to remember where he came from. Sad to see these declines happening, but it is part of aging and it will happen.

Hal, I have been living with a broken tooth for months now , and I will continue babying it . I just am too tired to go to a dentist anymore. It would take pain to get me out and about for repairs.

Lloyd, in the good old days when we had a cabin in the San Jacinto Mts. we were out walking one morning, and watched a male quail cross a dirt road while his wife stayed on the other side, they watched their 32 babies till they were all safely on Poppas side of the road . Nature at it's best. Humans could learn so much from the animal kingdom.

June, the reason you get so tired placing an Amazon order is they have so many choices!  I need a large envelope-type container and asked Tom to get a couple at our local Meijer supermarket.  He brought the wrong one but it is legal size.  He was going to place an order with Amazon so I looked in there for what I wanted.  They'd have one kind with 12 pages of folders.  Another type was 15 pages.  I finally found what I wanted and there were 10 in a package (I did not want 10, only needed 2) at a cost of $45.  I told Tom I'd use what he bought because I could use it; it just wasn't what I had wanted, but I would accept it.

I hope your health improves.  I keep on keeping on and I guess that's all we can do at our age.  Tom and I try to eat out once a week and Dot picks me up to go to church and we go to the burger place afterward.  We went to the church Christmas program Sunday and yesterday Dot and I went to the funeral of her former neighbor.  I really don't get out often but I'm glad I can do what little I can do.

Take care of yourself and take advantage of your clinic when you need to.

Mary Ann

June, I sat in the dentist chair for 1 1/2 hours this morning, the old tooth just kept breaking off.  She finally got down to the stable part and now I will end up with another capped tooth.  She put a temporary cap on this morning and took 3 or 4 impressions and I go back the 27th of December for the permanent cap.  One thing she did tell me, older folks seldom have pain with a broken tooth because the nerves in our teeth shrink.  Like I told her I am just glad I have dental insurance, she said it saves me alot more money that I realize because of the special pricing in the contract that she signs with them.

Anyhow, the sun shinning brightly but still cool out.  Winter is getting its grip (Texas style).

Mary Ann, I finally posted my Amazon order, but I spent nearly two hours finding what I wanted. Of course I wasted time deleting an item too, that I foolishly thought I wanted and  didn't. It is still a great place to shop though so I should not complain.

Hal, If I spent that much time in a dental chair now I think they would have to transport me home via stretcher. This body can't take the tension any more. My nurse did tell me it may take another ten days for my recovery to be complete from this last throat infection. But I'm alive, I am full of love for all my friends, so I will enjoy each day as it comes.

Good night my dear ones. Sleep well, sweet dreams, and we will meet in the morning. God is watching over us, thanks be to God.

Good morning everyone..

I too had problems getting in, saying it was an unsecure site.

The shovel and the snowblower were put to work yesterday as last night I went out and shoveled the driveway. Neighbour was out with his snow blower and did the mouth of the driveway where the snow plow loves to fill back in on you.

Not sure what is happening today . Will just take it as it comes

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

I suspect we may not see everyone come in today with the security alert being put out.  Bubble I too notified the webmaster of the notice.

Only thing I have on tap is going down and trying to renew my drivers license.  Hopefully I will pass the eye exam or they will accept the paper my eye doc gave me.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I didn't go to work today because I knew I couldn't handle it.  I'm going to try on Friday but I'm going to DEMAND a short lane.

I told my daughter we have a bunch of tough old people on this site.  She said I'm probably right up there with all of you.  I take that as a compliment.  We learned how to meet life head on didn't we!

I am back from a fast trip to MO, seems all I did was eat... and I love to do that.  I called ahead & had my sister & husband meet me at the McDonald's right by the highway & we had shakes.  SO good... & visited for about an hour.  Then on to my home town where I first went to the cemetery to place Christmas decorations in Mom & Dad's vase.  Then off to the Walmart parking lot where a niece was waiting for me, I promised to take her to lunch/supper when I got there & she just happened to be in the parking lot when I called.  A Panera bread is in the joining parking lot so got to leave the cats in peace for a while.  By the time I finished my potato soup I was too full to eat the half sandwich (that yummy steak with lots of goodies stacked on the bread)... so asked for a "take out" box.

By the time I got back to the RV I was too tired to check out the State Fairgrounds Campground.  I tried it one other time & after hooking up to electricity I chickened out & unplugged & went to the Walmart parking lot just a few blocks away.  I always feel safe in their parking lots because usually other campers around plus employees all night long.  Anyway, I fell asleep by 6:30 & had told myself I needed to get up at 5:00 am to hit the local donut shop for a box of all kinds to share with my brother & wife on the way home.  Apple fritters, blueberry filled, pudding & lemon filled, & about 6-8 other kinds (2 boxes full) plus a dozen donut holes for my breakfast.

I had slept in the RV in my driveway the night before so wasn't worried about being cold... did miss not having TV.  But I told myself I had to be up at 5:00 am & Fitbit said I woke up at 4:57... not bad for a body alarm, huh?  When I got back from the donut shop I fed cats & decided when I opened that frig door the Panera sandwich sounded better than the hard boiled eggs I took, & it was delicious. Had a thermos of coffee & gas stove to warm it up a little more (I do like HOT coffee)...  half a dozen donut holes & I was good.  Filled the RV for the trip home & was on my way by 9:00 am.  I had mixed a big Ziploc tub of meatspread & box of Ritz crackers for us to have with our pastries.... & we had a nice visit. My SIL had her knee replaced 10 days ago & is getting round great, full movement. They go to FL right after the first of Jan & won't be back until April... he is 92 & in great shape but want to visit every chance we get. Was a good trip but the wind picked up before I left this morning & I kid you not... if you ever drove a Ford vehicle you know that FORD in in the middle of the steering wheel & mine was standing on the "D" most of the way home... steering into the wind.  :tickedoff:

I am dead on my feet tonight... cats didn't even want their supper & have been in & out several times already.  Miss Callie (their mama) was waiting for us as I pulled into the driveway.  Can't take her because she marked her spot the only time she got in.  I guess I'm done running for a couple months.  It was 40 degrees inside the RV this morning but we weren't cold until we got up, snug, but you've got to love camping to be happy as cold as last night & night before~   I knew I could turn on the generator if I wanted to use the furnace & did start the engine this morning & turned that heater up full blast to get dressed.  Nice to have a full bath & bedroom & not have to put the slide out if I don't want to bother.  Not everybody's cup of tea but I love it.  (Joan would be shaking her head & groaning.... right, Joan?)  I forgot to look but think it was just over 500 miles round trip.

Joy, I pulled up a WordPad & had your wise words..."Just shows me when I keep busy, I am not as tired as when I sit around doing nothing".... because I am the same way, when I slow down I fall apart.  BUT, my eyes are so heavy & I quit taking notes so am going to call it a night & see if cats want to come in for a real early midnight snack... cause I'm going to get jammies on & sleep.

I missed the Soda Shoppe being down but had my cell to let the kids know I was okay.  They worry about me like I was a teenager.  There is justice!!!!

Glad to be back & catch up with y'all....  Hugs all around!

Oops, Janie, you snuck in (is that a word)... So sorry about the hand, did I miss something else?   Think you are right about us being a bunch of tough old birds... or people....Hope you are better before Santa comes.   Shirley

My goodness, it is very quiet in here. I have spent a lot of the afternoon downstairs. We had a group of Hawaiian singers and dancers entertaining us, and of course some of we show offs happily stood in line and followed the movements that one of the ladies taught us. some of us used our carts in front of us but it worked out fine.

I had a big lunch downstairs today, so I'll have a light supper at home. Still sneezing my head off, and went down to the clinic and had some itchy pimples on my back and side checked out. Nurse said it was probably a reaction to the anti-biotic I had taken. They thanked me for coming in.

My Gary did another outstanding teaching of a section of the book of Matthew. He enjoys what he does and puts his whole self into the words.

That's about what my day consisted of. I still need to answer some emails, but I don't feel too inspired at this late part of the day. I hope more of our people will report back in. I miss you all.

Keep well dear hearts. I love you all, June

  AND THEN IT IS WINTER...

THIS IS RIGHT ON THE NOSE. .......READ IT SLOWLY... I DON'T KNOW WHO WROTE IT, BUT I AM GUESSING IT WAS A SENIOR!!!
I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL & WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. I STOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWER AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD.

AND THEN IT IS WINTER

You know. . . Time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life.. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is... The winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like. But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey - or gone...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change....Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! 'Cause if I don't on my own free will...I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!

But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know - that when it's over on this earth...it's NOT over A new adventure will begin!

Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things - I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!

Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!

"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.

LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN! BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

REMEMBER:..... "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.

"LIVE HAPPY IN THIS YEAR AND EVERY YEAR! LASTLY, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE SO - ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

~Your kids are becoming you.......
~Going out is good... Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... But it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

good morning Everyfriend!  We had snow overnight!  I'm not sure how much there is out there but the sidewalks are covered but you cn see grass through what's covering it.  I don't think I'll need my shovel which is a good thing because I don't think I could handle it right now.  The a key on the typewriter is a challenge for me.

I hope you all have a lovely day!   I'm hoping to make a stop at the post office on my way to pick up Kiran today so I can mail my packages to Texas.  I'm hoping the snow is finished for now.

well, mynice neighbor across the street just finished blowing all the snow off my driveway and I see the plow has been down my road.  So I guess I'm in business!

Lloyd, thanks for the reminder!  I've read that before but it bears repeating!

Good Morning Everyone!

a new day and a day for bible study and a breakfast snack with good friends.  Wished you all could join us.

Janie, it is good news that you are able to use your pinkie.  I hope thing keep improving.

Lloyd enjoyed the "winter" story.  In some ways I guess living to a ripe old age is a blessing, even though we moan about aches and pains and ailments some of our friends are no longer with us.  I think back and a few died at a very young age.

Amy, seems like you folks in Canada used to say: "it is fresh out today" on those cold old days.  Although we used to wrap up nice and warm when we went out.  I can remember starting out in the mornings and the old tires popping loudly when they broke free from the ice and thinking boy is that old exhaust smoking this morning. Problem with us folks down here, we just throw on a light jacket to go out and then moan cause we are cold. :uglystupid2:  I don't even remember or know where my gloves are, more than likely in one of my heavy coats, whereever it is.... :2funny:

Got to get myself cleaned up.  Everyone have a good day.

Larry's post hasn't shown up here yet, but in another folder he wrote that Jeanne Lee is back in the hospital with breathing problems.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another nice day here in South Carolina with clear skies and getting up into the low 60's this afternoon.  I won't be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility to take to coffee this morning as he has a dental appointment.  However, I will go downtown for coffee and then to the Church for the Wisdom Class.  Then later this afternoon plan on going over to Joann's to pick up something Pat ordered this morning that we can pick up in the store.  Unfortunately it is across the street from the Augusta Mall so traffic may be a problem.  That will be it for today.  Pat wasn't feeling up to going to the Church dinner last night so I brought her home one of the meals.  Scott and Jennifer came out after the meal and they played Farkle again.

Yesterday I learned in the Christian Photographer Discussion that Janet Damon's daughter Beth had passed away.  I also learned that Jeanne Lee was back in the hospital with more breathing problems.

Hal, I don't envy you having to go to the dentist this time of the year.  I was glad to see that the dentist could repair the tooth.  Is the cap the same as a crown?  When we first moved into this house I didn't realize we had so many smoke detectors but there is basically one in each room, excluding the bathrooms, garage and attic.  Since this is an all electric home there are no open flames but one can't be too careful. Glad you got your driver's license renewed.  I probably need to get my driver's license changed as it shows I need corrective lenses.  That is no longer the case after the cataracts were removed.

Lloyd, I have never heard of someone owning camels here in the USA and milking them.  That is expensive milk and I feel for the families that have to buy it.  Good piece on aging.  Thanks for sharing it.

Carol, you are so right about all the fine print in any type of insurance policy.  The big companies are buying up the smaller companies.  Just a few days ago they announced that CVS Caremark was purchasing the Aetna Health Insurance Company for billions of dollars.  Glad to hear you are going to ask for help at the airport as that should make your trip much easier.

Amy, did the heated handles on the snow blower keep your hands warm?  Does it not work as well as your older one?

Jane, nice to read you were able to use your little finger on the keyboard.  Had to believe that Kiran is now going to be 11.  My last great grandson is now 6 years old and his father sent a school picture of him all dressed up.  I think he is a pretty handsome fellow.  Unfortunately I have never seen him in person and his grandfather saw him for the first time when they were in New York a few weeks ago.  He has talked with us on our weekly call the last two weeks.  He is very excited about Christmas.

June, it is sad to see a person deal with memory problems.  We have a man who is a part of our Sunday School class who has dementia and is now in a care facility.  I find my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be but can usually recall things although it may take a little while to do it.

Mary Ann, you are right about the many choices that Amazon has.  We are probably going to go together with Scott and Jennifer to buy Christmas presents for  Jennifer's Children (our great grandchildren) using Amazon.

Jenny, I sure wish we would hear something from Joan.  I know you will keep us advised when you hear something.

Bubble, I didn't know how to get past the security certificate message.  Thanks for contacting Michael as all seems well this morning.  I have copied your information and saved it in my Chrome Keep file for further reference.

deAngel, sure don't envy the trip to Kennedy Airport that your nephew will make today.  I hope the snow doesn't interfere with the driving.

Shirley, glad to see you had a good trip to Missouri and found good things to eat as you visited with family.  Traveling in a motor home wouldn't be my cup of tea.  Isn't it nice that your kids worry about you.  That is much better than the opposite.

 Kudos to everyone who worked on getting S & F back - missed everyone.  It was awful not to be able to chat and read your notes.

The stars were magnificent last night.  All the shooting stars started early, thankful for that as we didn't want to get up at 2 AM.

Larry:  You mentioned Janet's daughter passing - it has been years of concern for her.

Sorry to hear Janet Damon's daughter died, I met Janet years ago when she took art classes from a neighbor.  When her daughter was in the hospital in Wichita she called & we visited a local art store that was closing out.  I lost my link to the Christian Photographers in one of the computer crashes & can't find it with Google, I hate to bother Pat with this busy season, but if anyone has a link to that other site, I'd like to leave a note of sympathy for Janet.  Please?  Always extra sad to give up someone during this season, that heavy heart dulls the joy of the holiday for all the coming years.

Sorry that Jeanne Lee is back in the hospital... thanks for being the messenger, Larry, and to you, Mary Ann.

I've been up since 5:00 am & still in my robe.  Cats had breakfast & been out & back in.  Callie didn't want to get out of her warm bed so I put her bowl of salmon on a strip of carpet my husband put in the garage to catch dust before coming into the house.  I propped the outside back door open so she can go out when she pleases.  They like to lay in the sun, no matter how cold it is.

Carol, I didn't get to see the shooting stars because of clouds last night.  I looked.   :tissue:  I was concerned about not studying the insurance papers on the house because one time Cas caught them changing from full replacement to whatever the term in for discounting for age of an item.  They changed it back for him.  Sure miss him doing the thinking 'cause I am not getting everything taken care of like when we worked at this together!

Lloyd, I would imagine keeping camels in this climate would be difficult, don't know if they can take the cold.  My sister had to drink goat milk when we were kids.... she was always tiny & delicate (do I even need to say that we were nothing alike?)  :crazy2:

Bubble, I was talking with my son about the move of the embassy and said I have no idea how the people feel about it.... is it a good move or not in your opinion?  I copy some of your photos to show them how different your world is from what we see on news.  I was telling my brother & SIL yesterday that "having coffee & visiting with y'all is like the neighborhood wives when our kids were little".  We don't get together anymore, except for summer evenings when everyone is out.

Oops, you slipped in, Lloyd.  No help from me, these computers have a mind of their own.

Got to get busy... sun is shining & having amazing weather for mid December in KS!

Good morning.  Only here for a few minutes.  I have been in this "cookie making mood" now for a couple days and it is all going well.  I can hardly believe that everything is moving along so good. I had to laugh at myself, as I feel like one of the TV cooks having everything laid out ahead of time.  Really makes the whole operation move along so smoothly. A little time for preparing everything, but makes the job so much easier.

Larry, so glad  that you have been able to be in touch with your great-grandchildren.  That  should make Christmas special for you and Pat this year.  Glad that you will enjoy having dinner with your son and grand daughter.

Jane,  I  especially wanted to tell you that I made some of the "fake" Girl Scout thin mint cookies out of the Ritz crackers and I used the Almond Bark chocolate coating to dip the crackers in.  Thanks for suggesting that. It worked perfect and really set up well.  I  did put them in the  fridge for a short time and then packed them in a container and so far they have kept well.  I plan on making some of the Oreo crackers ground up with cream cheese and formed into balls and will dip them in the same chocolate.  I like that so much better than those little disks for candy.  And, I was so surprised at how quickly it melted.  Worked out good.   Thanks again.

Shirley,  glad that your  short trip went well and you got to meet up with some friends and family.  You amaze me with all the things that you do.  I know you and I are the same age, and you seem to be able to run circles around me.   Keep going as long as you can!!!   I am amazing myself lately, as I don't seem to feel as tired as I was.  I  think the fact that I have been keeping busy does help.

I have another batch of cookies ready to get into the oven and then, not sure what I will get into later.

Larry,  I finally got around to sending another order to Amazon.  I  have 5 little great-grandchildren that I will get to see at Christmas and just didn't know what to get them to go with the gift cards I give them..  Since they are still little,  I like to have a little something for them to unwrap.  Yesterday morning, I woke up early still trying to decide what to do. Finally, I got up about 4 a.m. and came out and got on the computer and after looking at toys, everything I liked were just too expensive.  It wasn't so bad when it was still only 2 little ones, but this year there are 3 more I have get something for. So, I finally decided on some activity books for them all.  So, they are expected to arrive on Saturday.  Now, only have 1 grandson ( the dad) that I have to get something for.  My youngest son is taking me to Walmart on Sat. to, hopefully, get everything else I need.  Hopefully, it will be a short trip.  Depending on what time we go, we will probably go out for lunch or dinner.

The other night, we had a nice visit from a large group from a local troop of Boy Scouts.  They came to sing Christmas carols and there were about 20 boys and almost the same amount of parents.  They were great and it turned out to be a really nice evening.  Plus, they brought lots and lots of goodies.  Some homemade and some bought, but everything was delicious.  Cupcakes, fruit cake, several other cakes, all kind of cookies and candy, plus several gallons of tea and lemonade.  They brought all the  plates, napkins, cups and cutlery and what was left over,  they left everything.  The table was filled . And, the all helped to serve  us all and cleaned everything up. It was such a great feeling to see such great participation from boys that age.  Years ago, my husband and I, both were very active in the BS. My husband was a scout master during the time that all 3 of our boys were in scouts and I was a den mother at the same time.  I was so impressed, as you really don't hear that much about scouting anymore.  Our local town has 3 different troops.  It was a fun evening.  I hope someone from the office will send them a thank you note for coming to entertain us.

Hope everyone will have a great day.  I have all my chores done for today,,, so I can now get on with my baking.

Joy

Joy, I have a suggestion for you to tuck away for next year.  There's a wonderful book that's been a favorite in our family for two (going on 3) generations.  It's called MR WILLOUGHBY'S CHRISTMAS TREE. We first got it through a school book sale when my oldest daughter was in kindergarten and we've given away countless copies of it since.  It's currently available on Amazon.  I always keep one tucked away "just in case.  And my (almost) Great Grandchild is getting a copy this Christmas.

Back to work.

Thanks, Jane,  I will look it up.  I just ordered a couple of the "I Spy" books, as my boys used to love them.   And, there were a lot more to choose from then when they were little.   But, I might still be interested in the one you mentioned also.

Joy

Thanks, again, Jane.  I just went and ordered it as it will be nice for the whole family to read on Christmas eve.  Sounds wonderful,  and so many excellent reviews. I am anxious to read it myself.  Never heard of it before.   I always look up the buyer's reviews before I order anything from Amazon.  Really helps make my decision most times.

Been a busy day here, managed to get the dogs run out back and by the mail box snow blowed but then the chute broke :( :tickedoff: I phoned where we purchased this and he said we had to take it up to him. Thankfully the neighbour could put it on the back of his truck, take it and bring it back. As were were looking over the repairs to find out a cotter pin had let loose we discovered the pin they put back in was not all the way in. So we fixed that!

Got wood into the garage and a load here for the wood box. Made 16 batches of mustard...yes Jane 16!!! This will be part of the Christmas gits.

Made some pastry and if...just if... there is any energy left I will make butter tarts..if not...always tomorrow..

Cards are in the mail today.  Don makes them every year and they are personalized - he gets nice feedback from the effort and he likes the task anyway.  We can't do much here - the plane of no frills awaits us Saturday morning and I am sure there is no food on the connection either.  So, must only take one little bag (no purse) to tuck under the front seat.  We can do this because we planned this before coming to Arizona - now going home this year because it was too awful missing everyone.  There is a bit of snow at home.

It is sunny in Tucson. We had a wonderful view of the stars last night and watched the shooting stars.  Every December this rolls around here and all the news stations reminds everyone to go out and catch a view.

Amy:  Fixer of all!  Good for you.  I come from a family like that and people were astounded when they would see mother changing oil on the car.  She checked tires, etc.  Born on a farm and raised in the little town - parents from overseas - they did everything.  Good for you!  Do you grow your own mustard plants?

Joy:  Love the Boy and Girl Scouts.  One g-son achieved Eagle status.  Our own daughter and sons were all in the scouts & I shared leadership with both groups.  It was not easy to control everyone at times.

Carol,  just wanted to share a little story with you about my niece.  They had 3 boys and none of them could get their driver's license until  they became Eagle scouts.  And, all 3 did.  They are all 3 great young men now. One works for the FBI, and another one is a Youth Minister and the other one works for a bank.  I am sure Eagle Scout on their resume's didn't  hurt.

I was talking to one of the mother's the other night when they were all here and told her that story.  Her son was standing behind her and when I told her the story her eyes really lit up. She turned around to her son and told him that she thought that was a wonderful idea.

I don't know where the morning went  but I was surprised that I hadn't come in yet, and here it is 5:30 p.m., Thursday. As I recall I was slow in coming awake……and so the whole day has disappeared again.I did take some donations down to our Bargains and Blessings Rummage room, and picked up a few items while there. The lady that takes care of that place said she would try to get me a starter from her purple african violet. She is a sweetie.

I did have a big lunch downstairs and brought part of it home which I will soon have for supper.Got a bunch of stuff I had ordered on Amazon..two more items to arrive soon.

I am so sad to hear our Jeanne Lee is back in the hospital. She has been in my prayers ever since her first trip there. And nothing from our Bis/Joan.

Amy, you gave me a good giggle mentioning Joan's  "geemototchees". It sure brought happy memories of our "old" days.

Janie, I am so happy that you can use that K key, now we can pray for the A key. You certainly do have nice neighbors Jane, but then I just know you are as nice to them as they are to you.

Larry, I don't think there are many of us posting here that don't have a bit of memory problems. I had read a long time ago our memory starts fading at a much earlier age than we are aware of. I wish I had remembered where I read it. I know that I am losing a great deal of what I "knew" before, but I refuse to let it annoy me. Life is too short to be bothered about what I have forgotten.  What I have in my life that is vital to know i have transferred into the more capable hands of my sons.

Time for me to go arrange my light supper and get ready for a quiet evening at home.
I love you my dear friends. I pray you have a restful evening and a happy tomorrow. God be with you, always. Hugs and Love. June

I just found this on Google.

As all those of middle age who have ever fumbled for a name to fit a face will believe, the brain begins to lose sharpness of memory and powers of reasoning and understanding not from 60 as previously thought, but from as early as 45, scientists say.

Their evidence comes from a large study of more than 7,000 civil servants aged between 45 and 70. The 5,000 men and 2,000 women agreed to undergo verbal and written tests on three occasions over a 10-year period for what is called the Whitehall II study.

For all those who worry about forgetting yhings....

A good friend told me that it's OK to be forgetful if you remember that you forgot.  The time to worry is when you forget something and you don't remember that you forgot.  That makes sense to me.  I forget lots of things but sooner or later, I remember that I forgot them.

And now, before I forget, I bid you alll good might!  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed.

Been a good day.  Bible Study and breakfast with good friends.  Came home and wife told me we had been invited out to lunch by my SIL and oldest daughter.  Nice meal. And good company.

My old pup has a big lump on her neck where she got her shot at the Vets the other day.  Wife called up there and talked to one of the techs and he said put a warm towel on it which we did.  If it hasn't gone down by Monday to bring her in.

Been kinda cool all day not pleasant at all.  And maybe some showers tonight after midnight.

Well I am going to head for the sack.  I am tired and want the warmth of my bed.
Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams to all.

Good evening......

I spent a few hours late yesterday with some kind of bug, but am happy to say I am feeling much better tonight.

We finally got a measurable amount of snow overnight so we have thankfully ended our 65 days of no moisture here in Denver.

Tomorrow night we will be going to the piano recital for our three local grandchildren....we look forward to it as last years was very enjoyable.

Pleasant dreams to all.  Safe travel home on Saturday, CAROL.
