A friend asked me to dress as Santa to surprise her son.
I went over to their house, changed into a Santa suit in the bathroom, and, to the delight of the little boy, came out with a loud “Ho, ho, ho!”
After a half hour, I returned to the bathroom, changed back into my regular clothes, and exited the bathroom.
The boy went in after me.
He looked around for Santa. Then, reaching the only possible conclusion, he lifted the toilet seat and shouted, “Bye, Santa!”

When Santa came to the nursing home where I worked, the first patient he visited was Margaret. She was confined to her bed but was thrilled when he roared “Ho, ho, ho”
in her doorway. “Santa!” she said softly.

“Merry Christmas, Margaret. What do you want for Christmas, little girl?”

“I want a kiss from you, Santa,” she said with a grin.
Santa gently took
Margaret’s hand, bent down, and kissed her. He then added quietly, “God bless you, Margaret.”

“God bless you, too, Santa,” she whispered back.

Santa went on to visit every bedridden patient in the home.
Afterward, he asked his nurse escort whether he could say goodbye to Margaret.
Struggling to find the right words, she told him that Margaret had died soon after he’d left her room. She said that in her final moments, Margaret had spoken of
being blessed by Santa.

Santa thanked the nurse for telling him and then quickly left the floor.
After all, nobody would want to see Santa Claus cry.

good morning Everyfriend!  I'm going to try working today.  Wish me smiles in my line and understanding superiors.  I'm goimg to demand a short register.  I'm going to demand in a soft voice and sweet smile but they have to understand.

There is snow in our weather prediction too and the temps are not supposed to get out of the 20s.  I'd rather not go out in that but that's the way things are.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend.

Mary Ann

Bubble, one cute and one very touching story.  Thank you so much.

It is a very white world we have today and if Amy has a little snow, by tomorrow she might have more.  I think our weather heads her way.  Some of the snow might even get to Jane.

I'm not awake yet, as usual, so I hope to show up later.

Hi Everyone. We are to have cloudy day today with a high of 57.  The housekeeper just arrived so soon will have a nice clean house again.  I plan on staying home all day.  I put our Christmas check in the mail this morning for our great grandchildren and their Dad.

Yesterday mailed the Christmas package to Pat's sister.  I had expected there to be a line at the Post Office but there was only one person ahead of me in line.  I did go to coffee with the fellows and then attended the Wisdom group.  Then later in the afternoon I went over to Joann's Fabric to pick up an artificial poinsettia that Pat had ordered to put in the container we have on the front porch.  They had it on sale for 70% off and it is quite a nice looking flower and puts some color on our porch.  All I had to do was show the cashier the order number and the item was sacked up and available in the cashiers area.  I didn't even have to sign anything so was in and out in probably 5 minutes or less.

Shirley, studying insurance policies is not an easy job and something I really dislike.

Joy, when I was trying to cook when Pat wasn't up to it I always laid out everything before I started and cleaned up as I went along.  Of course, I didn't do a lot of cooking.  I also like to keep reasonably busy. It sounds like you are making a lot of goodies.  I am so thankful to be able to enjoy reading again as that gives me another hobby to enjoy.  When I see the prices on the toys now I am sure glad I don't have little ones.  No way would I try to buy toys for the great grandchildren.  There dad tells us they enjoy shopping on the computer to spend the money we send and I hope that is true.  Nice that you were sung to by the Boy Scouts with the added treat of the goodies.  That was a nice service project for the troop.  Our Church supports the Scouts and they have their own building on the Church property.  They presented the Colors in our service a couple of weeks ago and do that several times a year.

Jane, I have never heard of that Children's Book.

Amy, isn't it frustrating to buy something new and have it break down so quickly.  That is a lot of mustard.  Do you give that as a gift each year?

June, I chuckled when you said you took  somethings for the Rummage room and then brought back some other things. Hope you can get the African violet you want.  Just think of all we have learned over the many years of our life.  It makes sense to me that it takes longer or we have forgotten things as we age.  It often is we just don't have the instant recall of our younger years.  There is no point in worrying about it since that is the way it is.  Interesting information on the Whitehall study.

Hal, hope the lump goes down on your old pup so another vet visit can be avoided.

Jenny, are all of your grandchildren taking piano lessons? What are the ages of these Grandchildren? I have lost track and tend to think of them as still being small.  Glad you got some moisture out your way.

Bubble, what a nice graphic for the season.  Thanks for getting us started on a new week.  I loved your story about the little boy and Santa.

Jane, I hope your day at the register went well and your hand didn't bother you.

Lloyd, I saw your comment about not being able to copy and paste something.  If the item was in an email try the forward button and then copy it and you should be able to post it.  Then you can discard the forward email.  I have experienced occasions where I couldn't copy and paste from the original email.  Also if what you wanted to copy was in a graphic it might not copy out the words.  Hope this helps.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Thank you, Bubble, for opening a new Soda Shoppe with two Santa stories.

This is "Domestic Duty Day".   Joan would fill a page in her "naughty book" but next week is getting busier and busier.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

JaneS

I'm home and it was much easier thanI thought it would be.  I drew a short register for both parts of my shift and that was good.  I'm really tired and I think tere are some zzzs yelling for me from the sofa.  I think I'll answer them before I get too involved.

Bubble, thank you for our new weekly page. I especially like the reclining elf with that gorgeous smile. I do believe I have met him before.

Larry, I brought home a flower pot. I couldn't decide on two of them…now I plan to go back and get the other one if it is available. The shop is only open on Tues., Wed. and Thurs. and not all day long. I don't worry about my loss of memory, it just angers me at times.

Janie, it is essential to take care of those necessary zzzzzzzzzzz. You can really foul up a day if you don't appease the zzzzzzz first of all.

Soon it will be time for lunch, and then on to a repeat performance of our Choir. Randy invited me to sit with the Choir again, but I'm still not sure about my voice doing what it should, so I will stay in the audience and we can sing from there too. But I won't feel bad if I open my mouth and my voice quits.

Tonight they are showing a movie...Bing Crosby's White Christmas USO all star Show.If I am still awake at 6:30 I will go down, but I make no promises.

I'm really ready for another nice nap, but lunch is necessary first, then I can fall apart. It's a wonderful life, for sure ! ;) :smitten:

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I did check in early this morning before I left for my appointment with the lung folks.  I had a series of test and the said they will send the results to my primary care doc and he will go over them with me.  Nothing really breath taking, pun intended.  ;)

Well, weather here does not include snow but does include possible t-storms tomorrow and they will be coming from Baja area.

Bubble thanks for the clean sheet and stories, enjoyed them.

Everyone have a great day

Entire Family Turns Transgender

loved this line in the article:

"KJZZ did not report the gender status of the couple’s two dogs."

Carol

We are just about ready to leave town tomorrow - I will write about the two flights after it is over.  We are ready.

Joy:  That is so impressive!  Congrats to the parents who guided the young men to finish what they started in Scouts.  I know that our Eagle jumped in a pool and pulled a youngster out of trouble - and also prepared a group on a camping trip for a storm that was imminent. Very modest about it too.

Jenny:  Of course, it will snow if I come in without my boots.  Looking forward to a moister climate because of headaches and allergies for almost three months.  Happy Christmas to you and all your family.  What about your son - Mark? in California.  Do they have a house to stay in?

Jane: What is a short register?  Do you mean fewer items?  May you have a wonderful time with everyone this season - may everyone treat you super nice!

Hal:  Poor doggie - I hope your pal is alright.

There will be no rest for us when we land at the airport.  We are going to watch a cute little very easy to care for - dog.  Also, two of the children will be with us as they are in meetings in the city, etc.  Neighbors want us to visit.  Children.... grands, etc.  Dr. appointments - and so forth.  Tis the season plus all the needful things to be taken care of in the next two weeks.

JaneS

Carol, yes, a short register is one of the express ones.

I don't know if it's a recommendation but in light of all the good things being said about Boy Scouts (and you are all rightly proud) I need to stick in my two cents worth for the Girl Scouts.  I put in 57 years as a registered Girl Scout beginning as a Brownie and achieving all the possible ranks including 41 merit badges.  I was a Program Aid as a teen and a camp counselor and leader as an adult.  I still use some of the things I learned in Girl Scouts and I've watched many of the girls who went through my troops shine in their fields as grownups.  Both Girl Scouting and Boy Scouting has a lot to offer a young person.

The one thing I resented over the years is MEN  who say "Scouts" when the mean BOY Scouts.  They seem to forget that there are also GIRL Scouts.  The kids recognize one another but sometimes the adults don't.

Joy

Late getting in here today. I have been busy baking again today.

Jane, you are absolutely right about the Girl Scouts.  I was a  Girl Scout for most of my elementary and junior high school days.  And, I do remember doing some really nice things.,  I guess when I started high school was when I dropped out.  Don't remember the reason why now,  I do remember our Girl Scout leader was a very nice lady and kept us busy.

You really don't hear as much about either the Boy Scouts or the Girl Sccouts anymore.

It snowed here off and on most of the day, but has stopped now. But, the roads will probably be freezing up as it gets later.  Just talked to my son and DIL and they are going out tonight in this mess.  Not exactly what I wanted to hear.  But, my son is a pretty careful driver.  Some music group that they like.

Hope everyone will have a good evening.

Carol

Joy:  I know what you mean about still being concerned with any of the children traveling - just about anytime.

Our daughter was a GS and I was a co-leader.  So, the meeting was at our house every other time.  Sure do understand when you mention Scouts everyone still thinks of the boys.

We are ready to catch a plane in the morning and the children have all kept in touch with us - they have so many things planned.  Last year, we did not go home for Christmas and really missed everyone.

Joy

Carol,  hope everything will work out with the plane ride.  Have a safe trip.  I know you are looking forward to a nice Christmas with your family. Have fun !

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me
Submitted By: ScrappinTXn
If Tomorrow Starts Without Me…

If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise you find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you
And each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
He said my place was ready, in heaven far above
And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned and walked away a tear fell from my eye.
For all my life I’d always thought, I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do.
It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays the good ones and the bad.
I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while,
I’d say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be,
For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
When I thought of worldly things I might miss come tomorrow
I thought of you and when I did my heart was filled with sorrow.
When I walked through heavens gates I felt so much at home.
God looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne
He said, “This is eternity and all I’ve promised you”
Today your life on earth has passed but here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last
And since each day is the same there’s no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful so trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn’t do.
You have been forgiven and now at last you’re free.
So won’t you come and take my hand and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts with out me don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.

JaneS

good morning Everyfriend!  I'm up but not so sure I'm attem yet.  I'm working on it though.

I hope you all get everything done that needs doing and some of the things you just plain feel like doing.  I've decided to bake my Christmas cookies in January when all the bandages are off my hand and everything is back to normal.  They'll probably taste better then anyway.

Have a lovely day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy, you said drive way didn't need shoveling and then went ahead and shoveled it...... ;D.  I think sometimes that you may need to attend workaholics classes.  I hope you and hubby have a good trip with no weather problems.

Janie, let those hands rest.  Cookies will taste good in January.

Lloyd, nice little poem.

Not a lot on tap here today.  May watch some college football and that is about it.  Suppose to be a rainy day and not too warm.  I'll take the rain, as if I had a choice, but I am not a cold weather person.

Everyone have a great one.  Janie, hope you find the "attam"

larryhanna

Hi Everyone. It is a bright and sunny but cool morning here in South Carolina.  It is suppose to get into the mid 50's this afternoon.  I plan on attending a meeting this morning and then stopping at Aldi's to replenish our fruits and vegetables and get a couple of other things.  After resting this afternoon I will probably watch one of the bowl football games.  Yesterday was a day to stay home and take things easy.

Callie, some days we just can't avoid doing a lot of work.  I hope you were able to accomplish all you wanted to do in the "Domestic Duty Day".

Jane, glad your day went well.  Hope you found those zzzs.

June, flowers pots at least have a good use.  Sometimes we get things that just have to sit on a shelf. I hope you get an African violet to put in the flower pot.

Sandy, Howdy.  Hope you thought of something.  :)

Hal, each time I have gone to the lung doctor they have done a breathing test with a couple of machines and you have to hold your breath and then blow it out as hard as you can for as long as you can.  I did have a struggle with my oxygen last night as the little tube from the concentrator came off several times from its little connection to CPAP machine.  I finally took the CPAP mask off entirely and turned off the oxygen machine as it was dark and I couldn't see what I was doing in trying to get the hose attached again. That was some article.

Carol, hope your trip went OK today.  I thought people went to Arizona to rid themselves of allergies.  It sounds like you have had just the opposite experience.  My wife went to Arizona to visit my parents only one time and had the worst sinus infection she had ever had and has no desire to ever go back (of course now we wouldn't be doing that).  With all you have planned while back in Colorado you will need to get back to Arizona so you can rest up.

Joy, it seems often what we hear about the Scouts is negative rather than the many positives.  We have had both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts participate in services at our Church and it is nice to see them in their uniforms.

Amy, you are starting your Christmas with family celebration early.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Lloyd, you just taught me something as hadn't realized I could just drag a graphics file into an email.  I have been using the insert photo tool at the bottom of the Gmail New Message page.  Thanks.  The graphic you sent in the email this morning had the Gold Frame and it looks just like the one you sent me that I have framed and sitting here in my office where I see it often. So just do what you did in the email you sent to me and the person should get it without any trouble and can print it out if they want.  The harvester food program sounds like a very good thing.

Jane, baking your cookies in January is a good idea as there usually are a lot of other sweets around Christmas time and then it is sort of a drought during January and February.
